00:26 – The historical background of the Epistle of James.

11:00 – James encourages us to have patience through trials. He teaches, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask God” (James 1.5). He also challenges the wealthy to pay sufficient wages to those who work their land. We are all part of God’s family, whether rich or poor.

21:53 – James counters the idea that we can blame others for our sins. We have agency and can choose to obey God. All must wrestle with the temptations of the natural man.

27:00 – The Saints are encouraged to be “swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.” True faith leads to caring for other people.

33:17 – James stresses the importance of keeping the “whole law” (James 2.10).

37:21 – Faith without works is dead. James 2.17-26 seems to be in conflict with Romans 5. Martin Luther struggled with James’ epistle.

46:45 – We must govern our tongue by paying careful attention to the words we use. How great a matter a little fire kindleth” (James 3.5).

52:48 – The elders of the church are to anoint the sick and pray over those afflicted. Miracles of healing are prevalent in the Church today. Blessings and forgiveness come to both missionaries and converts.
