More stimulating talk radio. It's the John Cobalt Show. Welcome. How are you? Look at this. Today's an arrow roll work in here. And we have the podcast that comes out at 6 o'clock right at the end of the show. And that is the whole radio show in one neat little package. So we want you to stay around for as much as you can. But if you can't get everything, that's what the podcast is for. And we are not live on YouTube. And we are not live on X today because we've had a Wi-Fi break down again here. So they're doing construction and it doesn't work. So there's no video. You're going to have to rely on old fashioned audio. Oh, they can't see your face. No, I'm sure people are just shattered by that. They are. And they can't see your outfit today. I think you can't. Yeah. Yeah, the deep rich. I would have you made another $10. I'm going to put you on camera with that. But anyway, welcome. We'll just get by an audio. See what we can do here.

We got a bizarre story coming up after 330 with Alex Stone. I want this. This is going to take a while to explain. So we're going to wait to 330 to give you the whole thing. But it. There was a murder in Dublin, California. A New York Times tech executive, Jonathan McKinsey, was shot to death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law in a parking lot at a park. And the mother and father-in-law were 77 years old. And they took turns shooting him. Now they apparently had many reasons to do this. One of them being that Jonathan used to be a woman and transitioned to being a man, married this couple's daughter. They had kids. It's a really bizarre story. I can't do justice right now to it. But you wait till right after Deborah's News at 330

and we'll talk about it extensively now. On the Gavin Newsom front, he is in his final three months or so of being in a just a shockingly bad governor. And he signed 20 bills, 20 of them today. And one of them was going after ICE again. Because ICE, you know, this is I didn't understand about these far left wing people. They get upset when the police or ICE agents shoot suspects to death. Okay, fine. But you talk about non-lethal force. They're upset with these electric shock gloves that have been invented that ICE purchased and that many local police departments

have purchased as well. And it's self-evident what they are. The police put on the gloves. They grab the disruptor, the protester or any bad guy, you know, by the shoulders. And then the bad guy gets a zip and drops to the ground. Now, it's not an execution. They're not cooked. They're just shocked. And that allows the cops to gain control. Why is that so bad? I don't understand. So he signs this bill. And among the, among the agencies that use the shock gloves that Newsom says can't is ICE. And once again, Department of Homeland Security, spokesman said, and like Newsom has got to be reminded of this every five minutes. Enforcing federal immigration laws is a clear federal responsibility.

He tried this, remember banning masks by ICE agents. And that thing went through the whole court system and the judge just said, well, no, read the Constitution. And the thing is he's pretty stupid. You know, he's got the 960 IQ issue. No, he's got the 960 SAT issue is IQ is 93. So 93 is kind of borderline. It's low average. If he was 4 points lower, he would be below the average IQ of an American. So he's almost there. Maybe if he took a test on a certain day, he'd be below average. So I, when he does this stuff, there's always a question. Is he stupid or he just has these? And I don't suspect he believes in anything in particular. But he tries to pander to certain groups. Whatever he thinks will give him a benefit in the moment. And so now he wants to pander to left wing groups in the Democratic party to give him an advantage in the primary season,

which is still a little a year and three months away. But he wants to get going. There's going to be a lot of candidates. So he wants to why he wants to be number one saying, I stood up to Trump. I stood up to ICE. And so he signed this stupid bill. It's claiming that ICE can't use the electric gloves or the electric shock gloves. The law is AB 2760 and that bars law enforcement agencies from possessing or using wearable electric shock devices. Well, I'd like to have a sentence, huh? What do you do? And oh, yeah. I'd like to walk around here with my electric shock gloves, keep people away. ICE is spending between 10 and 20 million dollars. And they call it conductive distraction and de-escalation devices. And you go after the rioters. Like when Sherlock spends our tax money on anti-ice riots, right? Those fake riots. Now, I still go in there and say, hey, come over here, Mr. Sherlock.

If you keep your glove on their shoulder, right? On the rioters' shoulder. Do they actually start to vibrate? Like, how much of this can they take? I don't know. Why don't you ask somebody to do it on you? And then you can report back. Remember, years ago, you were going to fire a taser on me to see what happens. Dint I? I thought I did. No, not me. I don't know what you do at home, but we missed an opportunity when you were doing those reads for burnout. Oh, yeah, right. Exactly. I could get it done a run through here. Now, in Sacramento County, the sheriff there, Jim Cooper, said last month that they spent $35,000 on 10 of the elect, electroshock gloves and deputies are trained to use them, but they, they never had an opportunity to. And the, the bottom line on this is outside of the stupid ice debate is that it's nonlethal. No matter what the police use, there's a problem. Sometimes they shoot those hard rubber bullets and it'll hit somebody in the forehead, hit somebody in the eye,

and then there's a lawsuit. Like what's the issue here? The police have to get control when the idiots riot. When you have all these paid activist protesters creating a ruckus and disrupting life and disrupting traffic. The assembly person, I don't know, Lashay. Lashay LA capital S H A E. That's what I would say. Lashay Sharp Collins. Hiphid in there. Lashay Sharp Collins. I think it's a woman. She wrote it. She said the technology was too new and had been sufficiently tested to be proven safe. Oh, what? How many times you have to try it out? Try it on old Lashay here. See what happens. It's safe. It's, you know, it's, it's, it's new. It's new. Some wanting to show just how much he stands up. By the way, I am waiting for some California official LA official to be bragging about the

lowered crime rates in the city. G, do you think that has a lot to do with all the deported criminal illegal aliens that Trump kicked out of the country? More coming up. Meet the Red Bull Dragondary Emergize. It's one of the many new drinks out now. Who knew ice cold drinks could be so fire? Try them all only at my doubles. You've mastered the classic wine regions. KFI AM640. More stimulating talk radio, the John Cobalt show. And again, after six o'clock, the podcast, if you want to hear the whole thing. After 330, we're going to have Alex Stone from ABC News to talk about this murder of a New York Times tech executive who is shot to death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law who took turns shooting holes in them in a park in the parking lot of a children's park in Dublin, California up in Northern California. They didn't like him. Two things. He was trans. He and their daughter, the wife, were fighting a lot physically and the grandparents caught the grandson trying on dresses. And they decided enough of this and they murdered the guy. We'll tell you all about it with Alex coming up now. You may have heard in the past week, we have another typist outbreak in Los Angeles because

Karen Bass and the LA City Council refuse to clean up the homeless population who are living in their own feces and urine with all the food and garbage around them that attracts rats. The rats have fleas, the fleas carry typhus. And now they're jumping on people, presumably the homeless. Matthew C. Dorf did a story encapsulating what's been going on in the past week. It's in the Wilshire Center of LA. So play cut two rats on the run in LA and now a new health warning. LA County investigating a new flea borne typhus outbreak in Wilshire Center. Seven people sick, six hospitalized. Anyone has a contact with fleas? Really, that's the major exposure symptoms include fever, headache, vomiting, rash, and muscle soreness. Another outbreak earlier this year in Pico Union sent five people to the hospital. We often see it in homeless encampments or in an air where there's really poor sanitation or even

the cats that go in and out in Santa Monica. Last year an Orkin pest ranking named LA America's Radiest City. If you walk along the holy, it's a lot of transition to the select rats. We've seen them this summer in Boyle Heights ready to feast after the warehouse fire. In Tuesday we found more rushing through plants downtown. And here in the outbreak area. I'm walking down the street and I actually twisted my ankle on one. And it got up and walks away. Many living on the street unaware of the warning. The current rats take in money. And when we mentioned looking for rats, this man thought we were talking about something else. Where do you think all the rats are? Sitting there doing nothing. They're doing making the city. All this everywhere. 109 flea borne typhus cases reported so far this year in LA County after a record 220 last year. They've got no cases and she tastes those rats. Head owners now keeping their dogs close watching for rats.

They never walk my dog in the evening. Officials recommend making sure that your pets are up today with their flea medication and clearing any trash or food waste outside your property. You check for fleas on your dogs after a walk. Because the fleas will jump on you and they carry the typhus in their feces. Here's how it works. Flea borne typhus is a severe bacterial infection caused by the Rickettsia typhi. And you can become infected when feces from an infected flea enters the body through broken skin or erupt into the eyes. Takes one to two weeks. See, you're not going to notice this right? A flea could jump on you and and defecate and you might touch it and then you rub your eyes. And then two weeks later you got fever headaches, vomiting, rash, body aches.

Nine out of 10 people who get it end up in the in the hospital. So I was looking this up because typhus should not exist in the modern world. This is as Katie Grimes pointed out today in the California global medieval disease. And I went looking up the history of typhus. The first reliable description of typhus comes from the year 1489. 1489. So we're talking over 500 years ago when the Spanish had a invasion against the Moors in the War of Granada. And the accounts were fever red spots over the arms back and chest, attention deficit, progressing to delirium. And then you ended up with gangrenous sores and the smell of rotting flesh from your gangrenous sores. And the Spaniards lost 3,000 men to enemy action.

The actual war itself, but 17,000 died of typhus. And there have been many outbreaks from the 1400s into the 1900s. And, but they've been gone ever since we used modern sewage techniques such as toilets and flushing. And we have short pipelines and people became aware of hygiene typhus went away. And now the government in the city of Los Angeles has brought back typhus in record numbers since they started tracking these things. In fact, let me see here how many we've had record number of cases last year 220. This year, 109 so far. So in the first last year and a half, we've had 329 cases of typhus and we've never had that many.

All because we let people die and rot in the streets. We allow them to live in their garbage and filth, the food, the rats come and by the way we banned rat poison. So you can't even kill the rats with rat poison. I have never seen a civilization going reverse faster than what's happening in Los Angeles. It's actually fascinating. Now when we come back in Dublin, California up in northern California, you've probably been hearing this on the news. A New York Times tech executive was shot to death by his father and mother-in-law. They took turns shooting holes on him. He was a transgender woman to man married their daughter. They had kids. Don't ask me how all this works. Then they caught the grandson trying on the granddaughter's dresses and that was it. We've got a lot of information. Alex Stone is going to start with his report from ABC News in minutes.

You're listening to John Cobalt on demand from KFI AM640. KFI AM640, more stimulating talk radio. It is the John Cobalt show. Welcome and after six o'clock today if you miss anything, that's the podcast John Cobalt show on demand on the I heart app. This next story you may have heard of this. It is one of the more bizarre murder cases that I have seen in a while. I had missed one of those things that to read several times. We're going to talk with Alex Stone from ABC News in just seconds. Jonathan McKinsey. He's the victim. He got murdered. It looks like by his mother and father-in-law, McKinsey is the head of the New York Times engineering for game player experience. The hell that is. They took turns shooting him in the parking lot. Now Jonathan McKinsey used to be a woman. And as a man now, Jonathan is married to Candice Jang.

And it's Candice Jang's parents who shot him up in the parking lot at a park in Dublin, Northern California. All right, let's take this now to Alex Stone because the more details that come out, the more twisted it seems. How are you Alex? Yeah, and John, I mean just crazy story. So he was an executive of the New York Times as director of engineering and yet I think word ol and all the other games that the New York Times has. So they've got this unit that is their game unit and he ran that and he lived in the Bay Area shot and killed in a parking lot at a sports complex in Dublin, which if you've driven through the Bay Area, if you've got North and then come through Livermore and then you kind of go through Dublin and Walnut Creek in that area as you're heading into San Francisco. But it's a east of the city and it's Saturday afternoon police get a bunch of 911 calls from people in the park saying that there had been multiple gunshots and that they had seen the murder go down and the alleged killers are Jonathan McKinsey's 77 year old in laws who are now accused of murder and they are in the jail in the local area.

So he was 40 years old witnesses said multiple gunshots police then came in and they found that these two almost 80 year olds had stuck around the area. They were slowly driving or just kind of normally driving and they were pulled over and arrested and didn't put up any fight got out and were put into handcuffs. Police in Dublin they have not explained a motive but court documents we now have show the McKinsey was in the middle of a really contentious divorce and a custody battle with the couple's daughter in 2025. He was charged with two counts of child abuse. He allegedly slapped one of the children. He allegedly left one of the other children home alone. There were allegations of domestic violence and divorce it was underway child custody issues restraining order but by all accounts local attorneys are saying this looks like a revenge killing. Although that won't matter when it comes to charges you can't go and shoot somebody who you think is done your daughter wrong but maybe he could get a little bit of leniency or they could get a little bit of leniency in sentencing if it goes that far.

But at this point they're in jail and they're set in law the the New York Times executive is dead and we don't know what police are going to alleged or prosecutors tomorrow when the couple appears in court but they're in custody right now. According to news reports the the mother in this case I guess her name is shilly Chen. Yeah I believe you're right. I can't tell who's the father and the mother because of their names and she agreed time send California post was calling McKinsey a pervert and a monster because he not only was transgender but she caught her grandson trying on dresses. Yeah I mean clearly there had been a lot going on in the relationship the the people in the park say that there were a lot of things a lot of noise being made between the gunshots and the yelling there were some witnesses who claimed both of the parents of the daughter fired and took turns he was shot multiple times in the chest and in the head and died pretty instantly and then they just kind of then got back in their car and calmly drove away one witness saying that they they walked very calmly and got back in the car.

And then started it up and pulled out of the parking lot but you go at everything that was going on at home before all of this and then add into it the allegations of what he was accusing her of domestic violence she was accusing him the child abuse the child custody staff the restraining order the divorce it was underway there was a lot going on in this and by the way the parents could be charged with child abuse as well according to local attorneys because the shooting happened at a public park. Where children were playing around them so children were in danger there so that there's a lot of different ways that the disc could go but it seemed like the family had a lot going on. Oh yeah this point whatever the motive turns out to be there was a lot going on. This wasn't going to be a good Thanksgiving anyway so wow that's just so so now he has has the grandparents have been formally charged and arranged and all that. Not until tomorrow so the the charges are being filed it's going to be first to green murder and a bunch of other things and then tomorrow morning they are going to in the Dublin area at the Santa Rita J.L. I believe is is what it's called in the area.

They're going to make their first appearance and go in front of a judge but by all accounts they didn't they didn't you know fight against police in order to against I mean they just gave up at that point so it seems like that this was something that they were pretty allegedly determined to do and then knew that they were going to be stopped they didn't try to run away. The police immediately pulled them over and they got out and they got into handcuffs. I'd be interested if they're found guilty. I'm not interested to see what their sentence would be because they're both 77 years old but it's their first offense first time they killed anybody. Yeah but if it's murder typically it's not going to be a quick one I mean it seems like it would be the rest of their lives in prison but we'll see what they claim and which way it goes and if they get any leniency if it was some kind of revenge thing but being murder if they do actually go down the road of first to green murder it seems like they're never going to see freedom again. I know I mean in California they retire prisoners at age 50 and let them go so they they come in like already pre retired. Is there a special elderly wing for people this old?

You know it's a good question especially in northern California going to prison I would think that in state prison there's probably an area where elderly prisoners so they don't get take an advantage out by younger prisoners. Are they going to get thrown in with all the gang members and the cycle paths and yeah I assume that's not how it goes on. I know there's no death row anymore it's San Quentin because it's been dismantled and everybody's been peppered out to different prisons all across the state so that doesn't exist any longer but I would think if you're elderly and you go in that they don't just say you know here's next to this 19 year old and you get some special area but I don't know. Oh my god all right hey thanks for coming on. You got to thanks John. Alex stone ABC news you believe it or not there's even more bizarre details to this story they've had a they really had a screwed up family and it looks like the in laws you know different culture different generation they were having it with the sun along being a transgender that's that looks like they were not tolerant did not accept this life choice and when they saw the grandson trying to address is that was it and it turned into a shooting gallery in the parking lot and

double will tell you more about these sorted details coming up I was just if you think you know your family's all screwed up and you guys scream at each other and you guys are not going to be a big part of this story. It's not something like this crap here that we're coming up next. You're listening to John Cobalt on demand from KFI AM640. KFI AM640 live everywhere on the I heart radio app the John Cobalt show and we just talked with Alex stone from ABC news about really a bizarre murder case up in Dublin Jonathan McKinsey and this got a little more attention because of who he is he's a New York Times executive in charge of engineering for game player experience you know the games like world that they have they make a lot of money by the way on their games they make more money on their games than they do getting revenue for the newspaper itself you know subscriptions

advertising that's what keeps the New York Times newsroom of float is the money get they get in with their games app. So he's the head of engineering he's an important guy for the company he's also transgender and he transitioned to a web hack in 2010 and that's central to the story because McKinsey was killed by show young Zhang and shili Chen his in laws on Saturday they took turns shooting McKinsey. So you know grandpa would shoot his son in law and the gun over to his wife and she'd take a shot she'd hand the gun back he'd take a shot and they kept going hey my turn let me and they they shot him up everywhere. The wife is a woman in Candace Zhang. They had a bad marriage McKinsey the transgender husband had filed a restraining order against his wife Candace.

Now what set off the grandparents finally well they have a Sunday in Wyatt and Wyatt see see grandma would come and take care of the kids and I guess while she was there one day Wyatt asked to wear his sister's dresses. This upset grandma and Jonathan McKinsey said lots of phase he was going through well grandma didn't like this phase because because of the father because of the father by the way he I never would have suspected he was a trans person I there was there was nothing you know sometimes you see trans people I oh yeah I can see that not with him not the photos I saw in the paper. And that's why I actually was confused when I saw these stories I thought maybe they were talking about you know the wife or the no it's him. So after after little Wyatt wanted to wear a sister's dress grandma Chen just went nuts started berating the husband for the behavior called the young child no wait she's berating a little kid she started calling the young kid a disgusting queer and a pervert.

And then hit the boy the little boy in the back of the head. Can I wear my sister's dress like a new grandma no this is old world justice here yeah. So dad is begging his mother in law to stop and Chen blasted him. She called McKinsey the same name so disgusting queer and a pervert McKinsey said she blamed me for why wanting to wear a sister's dresses and told me to get out of her house even though we were in the home that we owned. By the way these are all from court records. He tried to get his wife outside help to keep grandma from away from the children but the wife refused McKinsey accused his wife. Abuse in the relationship claiming that she tried to get him to commit suicide.

The wife told him you should kill yourself because nobody would want to be with someone as F up and transgender like you. Jang filed a restraining order against McKinsey saying he threatened to kill her and the parents. They sure the now then prosecutor stepped in and charged him with two counts of misdemeanor child abuse because he smacked the son in the face with his hand. So dad was smacking the son in the face and grandma was smacking the son in the back of the head. Wow. And finally the there was a story here. I think I think the wife tried to hit the dad with a frying pan or something. Everything but the Katie Porter's hot potatoes in the frying pan. I was just thinking that. So here.

White the wife. Jang had hit McKinsey on the head with a frying pan and forced him to eat a cockroach. What? Who does that? He also accused her of another of another occasion of striking him on the head with a mirror which shattered as he as he tried to wrestle it from her control. Ended up severing a tendon and a nerve in his hand. And he had a permanent loss of sensation and stung. Oh my god. This is a messed up thing. This is this is a yeah, this is really bad. Well, he's dead now. I mean, they he was leaking blood all over that parking lot. I'm sorry for the kids. Absolutely. Yeah, you ended up with end up with that for parents and that for grandparents. When we come back,

oh, the shopping cart and the encampment and the homeless guy on top of a Brentwood bus stop. I got a lot of details. You sent me this story yesterday. I love that story. This is a great story. This is not far from my house. Maybe your house will be next. Yeah, there could be a guy living on my roof. I need a roof. That's right. All right, we'll talk about that. We come back to Ebermark live in the KFI 24 hour newsroom. You've been listening to the John Cobalt show podcast. You can always hear the show live on KFI AM640 from three to six PM every Monday through Friday. And of course, anytime on demand on the I heart radio app. KFI AM640. More stimulating talk.
