And, uh, oh yeah, there's discourse about Sydney, Swini's boobs, blah, blah, blah. Is the right-taking sexy back? Uh, no. Being right-wing makes you an unfuckable loser forever. I'm just gonna say, my fascist take is the, as leftists in the US have a problem where they're just not sexy. We need to be sexier people. I'm, I think, for pretty sexy. I think that we're fucking nerds, dude. We're fucking nerds. Being a nerd is hot. That's not true. Being a nerd is still being a nerd. And, uh, we need to be, that's my fascist take, is that the left, uh, has a fuckability problem. Well, I'm doing my part. I'm not pointing fingers here. We like to, we like to.

Welcome to Party Girls. Oh, we've been waiting two and a half years to say Ed Sheeran's canceled. And finally, my god, my friend, Brett had a really sick burn. She was like, to protest a boycott Ed Sheeran, I will plug my ears in the grocery store. I will join the boycott Ed Sheeran and I will not finish that song on YouTube, because then he doesn't get the play count. But he doesn't really need it because he's got, according to this, 6.8 billion views on that song. Fuck. People have terrible taste. I remember when the evolution of dance had 40 million. And I thought that was a lot. Real ones remember the evolution of dance. I don't. I'm not a real one. I'm fake. That's all right. Clearly. Uh, well, welcome back. Jamie, we have a podcast. I don't know if you heard, but, uh, I did it all by myself last week.

I felt like Jamie all summer. Yeah, I was going to say. How dare you? But, uh, it was good. I just started ranting about all sorts of things. Uh, we talked a little bit about, um, climate apocalypse. We talked about this 1000 person far right black block in England. Uh, we talked about, I say we, uh, I talked by myself. The Royal week to myself. Yes. Um, you know, and a couple other things too, but I don't remember what happened, uh, last week. So I don't, I don't even know what I had for breakfast. So. Yeah. I'm kind of on that tip as well. But, uh, this week, uh, we're talking a little bit about Ed Sheeran. Uh, we're going to talk a little bit about the AI, Doomer apocalypse. And we're going to talk a little bit about what's going on in the Middle East. And maybe more if we have time. Maybe more. There's some fun stories. Well, do you want to play a fun game that I've been playing with some of my friends?

Sure. Uh, Gears of War. Uh, no, it's, I know you don't know what that is, but. I, that, that's a video game, right? Wow. I've heard of it. It's, I've heard a game. I've heard of video games. Uh, no. Uh, so some of my friends have been playing a game where they ask you, what is your fascist take and what is your liberal take? And it gets funny answers. Uh, oh, all right. Well, we're just going to go ahead and immortalize our takes for, uh, for the, for the internet. Let's go. Well, do you have them already? Because you could think about it till the end if you want. Oh, wait. Like, you just mean I need to come up with a take. Yeah. Oh, I thought you meant you were going to give me a topic and I give you a fascist take on a topic. Oh, no, just in general. Hmm. You want to hear mine? I do. Okay.

So my liberal take is that girls are better than boys at just in general. I mean, she, I'd agree with that. And my fascist take is even in and come future world. We might need to have like one prison. Wow. Um, that's going to be an oof from me. I mean, I don't know. Uh, one prison. Um, who would we keep there? Uh, class enemies that can't be rehabilitated. But it's more human than killing them. I think is it? I don't know. Uh, and look. I don't think I were going to have to expend resources keeping these people. Uh, like safe from being broken out. By other class enemies who then want to go and reclaim. Like if they pose to these people pose a threat, is there being alive? Pose a threat to the revolution?

Well, that's why we have to put the prison. But then what if they get busted out? They won't. They will. Okay. So it's like a, you know, it's like a laser prison. It'll be a really nice prison. And also, like class enemies aside, there might still be some psychopaths running around murdering people. And I don't think we should design a whole system around that because they are very, very, very much the outliers. But, uh, you know, sometimes people are homicidal, crazy and you just can't have them running around. But like I said, like one. They're not, they don't need to be like, a whole bunch of them. Just, it just happens to be, you know, the entire territory of Long Island, you know, just like one prison that is the size of Alaska. Yeah, something like that. Oh, wow. All right. It would be like a, maybe like an island, you know, so they have everything they need there.

It's really nice weather. They just can't leave. Yeah, this is fucked up, Jamie. I'm going to go ahead and see if you can see it. I can't leave. Yeah, this is fucked up, Jamie. I'm going to go ahead and see if it was a fascist take. Sorry. You can have some time to think about yours. All right. I'll, uh, we'll circle back to this one. So, uh, let's see. In case people have been living under a pop culture rock, I want to talk a little bit about Ed Sheeran, who has fired the greatest rapper of all time, Macklemore from his tour for speaking out against Palestine. So, I've kind of just been enthralled with this story for some reason. And also, I have, I have a Facebook, and I use it for work and, and marketplace. And, uh, the Facebook algorithm has realized that I'm interested in this story and all I get on Facebook is Ed Sheeran and Macklemore.

Even though I don't really care about any of the artists involved. I don't know. I liked that song about his haul. I thought that was pretty good. Oh, sure. That was nice. Um, you know, a job, Macklemore, very based, very based. And the first time, and only the first time, I heard a thrift shop I liked it, and the second time, and from there on out, I did not like it anymore. No, I was watching it today because someone posted it. And, uh, I like that it's sort of an anti-consumerist anthem. I don't really like it as a song aesthetically, but I like any rap music, like going to the thrift store. Uh, yeah. I like some rap music. Like who? I don't want to say. Okay. Uh, it's Nicki Minaj, everybody. So, I like all the rap music that white people like. What are you talking about? Including Nicki Minaj.

Wow. You want to build prisons, and you still listen to Nicki Minaj after she's come out for Trump. Crazy. You're not actively. Obviously, I'm Team Cardi. Hmm. Uh, so Ed Sheeran fired Macklemore, uh, from Macklemore's gig, opening him, opening for him on his ongoing tour for speaking out on Palestine. I think the fallout from this in the music industry and in pop culture is going to take a little bit of time to shake out. I do think it's kind of a big deal. I do think that, um, people are going to, uh, freak out about this a little bit. Uh, so, I've been included. Um, I'm going to go ahead and play his full remarks because I think they're worth listening to. I've been trying to figure out a way to say this all day. One of the reasons why I wanted to come on this tour was because I wanted to stand up here on stages and stadiums across America

and say two words that are very near and dear to my heart. Three Palestine. I said three Palestine. The crowd goes crazy. I want those words to be loud and clear. So the people from Gaza all the way to the occupied West Bank know that we have not forgotten them. And this next song was inspired by the bravery of Columbia University students who led an encampment movement that mobilized the entire world, opened up hearts myself included. So thank you to those students that risk their diplomas, that risk their tuition, that risk their scholarships that stood up and said no. C U A D students, students for justice and Palestine and Jewish voices for peace.

Thank you guys to all of my Jewish brothers and sisters. Criticism of Israel, criticism of apartheid being against genocide in no way is a criticism of you. My message is for peace, love for all human beings to be treated with dignity, respect, and equality. So I say free Palestine. I say free Lebanon. I say free Cuba. I say free Congo. Free Sudan. Free all people in America living in fear over this terrorist organization ice. Free, free, free, free. Free, free, free. That's a good Mac with more. The horror. No, what a terrible thing to say.

Get him out of here. Like break. Cut his mic. Totally based solid... objectively non-objectionable statement. That is like the, everything he said is good, right? Yeah, I don't think terribly controversial either. No, among liberals at least, if you're like, a liberal or to the left of that, it should not be controversial. No. But the aftermath of this thing has been pretty pronounced for everybody involved. So like I said, Nakamura got dropped from this tour and this was according to Ed Sheeran, a decision made by the promoter and by the billionaire owner of Gillette Stadium where the tour was headed next. Robert Kraft, no relation to the mac and cheese,

but he is a rich guy anyway. So Kraft, it's a sort of billionaire A-Pack mega donor in close ally of Donald Trump. He also owns the New England Patriots, shout out Patriots and a staunch supporter of Israel. Kraft also made the news earlier this year when his name was mentioned in nothing other than the Epstein files. Kraft, yeah, I didn't just, he was charged, when he was charged in 2019 with the solicitation of prostitution, he appointed one of Jeffrey Epstein's lawyers to his legal team. Subsequently, the charges were dropped the following year. So a real stand up guy, this Kraft character. I mean, which do you think is more likely to stoke anti-semitism? Saying free pile of stone or like a billionaire, Jewish guy, A-Pack mega donor pedophile

using his piles of money and influence to quell the speech in this country of artists. So Kraft, the A-Pack mega donor, pressure called his buddies, I called the other owners of the stadiums on this tour and got them to rally behind him in organizing for Michael Mortigot kicked off the tour. So Ed Sheeran, to his credit, released a beautifully brave, a committal statement yesterday. But saying that Michael Mort's decision to be removed from the tour was the promoters call and not his own. So just hours after his statement went live, all of the supporting acts from the rest of the tour dropped out in solidarity with Michael Mort and Palestine, presumably. Hell yeah.

So this would be Phineas, whose Billy Eilish's brother and collaborator, Bioga, Lucas Graham, Aaron Roe. And on top of this, Ed Sheeran's own backup band declared that they're dropping out too, which is crazy. That is fucking humiliating for Ed Sheeran. That is backup band. I mean, they stand to lose more from doing that than Michael Mort does too. Literally. Are they all, questions? Are they all Irish? Is that Sheeran Irish? I think Ed Sheeran is in British. And he had an Irish band who did drop out and they released a pretty based statement in solidarity with the Palestinian people against colonialism. The Irish know a thing or two about that? Yes. Roger, Roger Waters released a funny statement calling Ed Sheeran a pussy and a little prick or something like that today.

Literally, just like you could tell, Roger Waters, just like one took video online, just says a bunch of shit, calls a bunch of names and then sends it to posts, you know. But when you're Roger Waters, you can do that. So I'm gonna read a little bit of Ed's chicken shit statement because I was just absolutely blown away by how fucking tone deaf it is. He posted this yesterday. And then once again, immediately after, like within two hours of him posting this statement, everyone else dropped off afterwards. Maybe, maybe I'd like to think they're awaiting to see if Ed was gonna like, you know, do something good about this and he releases a statement and all of them are like, yeah, we're outta here. So this is a statement. Quote, I am appalled by the conflict between Israel and Palestine. MF said conflict. The suffering and pain caused on both sides, both sides is a human tragedy. There are too many wars across the world causing a measurable pain, none of which should be tolerated,

immediately just changes the subject. Macklemore asked to join my tour last year and I agreed because I respect him as an artist. As with all my support acts, I agree that they play a set list of their choosing. After Macklemore's performances at my New Jersey show, venues on my upcoming tour dates communicated that they would pull the show if he was still supporting. I was informed that this stance was based on how Macklemore conveyed part of his message during his performance rather than on everything that would said. I spoke with the venues at length all week to try to build a bridge. One of those people was Robert Kraft. I also involved in direct talks with promoters along with activists on both sides to try to find a mutual resolution for all. But the venue and promoters decision was final. Shake him a damn head. He reiterates, Macklemore coming off the tour was the promoters decision, it was not mine. All right, this is where it gets hilarious. I've always used my platform and music

to bring people from all backgrounds and cultures together and this won't ever change. I'm skipping over a little bit. They need a buying power, fucking, I don't know, adult contemporary music. They you tune out in the grocery store. The least offensive cookie cutter corporate core. Yeah. And then he goes on to say, and I quote directly, I am not complicit. Crazy thing to say. No, that's not the only, the only people who say that sentence are people who definitely are complicit. Jamie, have you ever said the phrase, I am not complicit? No, thanks though. Have you ever said it in regards to the genocide happening in Palestine? Because I have. No one has accused me of being complicit. And even as an American, you know? Not quite. I suppose I could stop paying my taxes. I really don't want to be complicit. You don't make enough money to it. They do comment after you if you do that.

He goes, I am not complicit. I have my personal views, my personal views. On this devastating conflict. Just because I choose not to speak publicly doesn't mean I don't have them and doesn't mean I don't care. Nor does it mean I don't support causes in my own personal way. There's a reason I don't use my professional platform for politics. My audience includes young people, often children, except for the goss and children, obviously, of all backgrounds. Those who cut, that was my own addition. Those who come to the shows do not expect a political forum. I respect Mackelmore's strength of purpose to stand and shout for what he believes. However, there is room for multiple approaches to the same end piece. I choose to use my fame and platform to keep up to be a place of safety and sanctuary, to maintain diplomacy and keep conversations open, not closed. If we only focus on shouting the loudest, nothing will ever change. There are different approaches to being an advocate for change.

I know who I am, both as a person and an artist and those who know my heart, know my values to ed. I mean, what's he doing? What's the approach to peace? That is the whole lot of nothingness statement that I've ever seen in my life. Well, he said there's different approaches to being an advocate for change, so what's his? Make a lot of money. And play acoustic music for a crowd of people who don't believe in anything. He really is like a sentient egg salad, this guy. Did he win American Idol or something? Like, where did he come from? I don't know where the fuck he came from. Why does a guy who looks like that get to be this famous? I have been asking myself that ever since I looked in the mirror and realized I'm more handsome than a cheering. It's true.

And he's like, it's a low bar, but still. He's like enormously famous and enormously wealthy. Like his view is that video that we started with and he was like, has seven billion views on fucking YouTube, dude. As we'd say, did he win American Idol? This is my hypothesis for how he got him. No way. He's not like a voice singer, is he? I feel like, okay. Where did that cheer come from? Where did Ed Sheeran? Is this a slyop? Is it op of some sort? How can I make music that convinces people to not believe in anything? I just googled where did Ed Sheeran come from and obviously he came from the market town of Framblingham in Suffolk, England. Jesus, how did I know all that? Of course he's from Framblingham, fake ass place. All right, so the last thing is right before we started recording this news just dropped that Mackelmore,

who presumably by being kicked off the tour of his own volition, still is getting paid for the tour. So Mackelmore is donating his full $1 million in earnings from the Ed Sheeran tour to Palestinian aid organizations. He's donating all of it, following his removal from the tour last week. The news comes after yesterday's update that literally all of the tours, openers, as well as Sheeran's own backing band have pulled out from the tour in his statement on his Instagram. Mackelmore said that $1 million will be split between six organizations that work directly with Palestinian people. And he also encouraged billionaire, APEC, Megadoner, Robert Kraft to match his donation. Mackelmore closed his statement with a direct message to those who are following the story and said, quote, when the news cycle moves on, which it will, don't move with it. Wow. So either Mackelmore fucking rocks

or he has the best PR team in the world or both. Because I'm just like, I don't even like Matt, I've never even listened to a Mackelmore album. I've literally just heard his radio hits. I am going to go, I'm gonna go buy a fucking Mackelmore album and maybe, you know, maybe I'll like Mackelmore, I don't know. Yeah, I'm probably not gonna do that, but I like Mackelmore as a person. Yeah. It's like you got to separate the artists from the art, you know? I'm bro. Well, it seems to me that this could be a sea change happening in pop culture on a level that we haven't really seen before. Who's that other ginger that you like, the one from Hacks? Oh, Hannah, I'm under. Yeah, yeah, she came out. That other ginger that I like, I like her and not as she and not as she

came out in support of Mackelmore and called Ed Sheeran a little bitch. So hell yeah, we gotta get her on party girls. Yeah, she rules. She's the only good celebrity. Besides Mackelmore, I guess. I think I know friends in common with her. Oh, well, well. While I crab Apple knows her, they just didn't event together. Oh, wow, cool. Did you fill up your sparkling water bottle with tap water? Is that a bad thing? No. Why, yes, yes, I did. I ran out of sparkling water and I wanted to have some water. So when I was in fucking Italy, they have sparked free sparkling water on tap at public parks. That rules. It's insane. That's what social democracy can do for you. I guess, I guess. Is it is it parier? Or now that's French. Gotta be some Italian kind of sparkling water.

Anyway, um, so I looked, I was looking up this story a little bit too. And there is another villain here. And unfortunately, it is pink, who is, are we still using the pink song? Is our intro? It wasn't in the last episode, which I listened to, but I haven't listened to an episode of ours in a while. So Ryan text us. Are we still using the pink song? Because if it is, I think we should collectively revisit that question. No, I mean, we've been needing to for a while, but, uh, yeah, pink's been on some bullshit for a long time. She said I didn't know anything really about her political views. I just thought she made bangers, but, uh, she said that she has never spoken for Israel or for any government. And that she still believes, hamas is a terrorist organization. Then she says, Palestinians deserve a future that honors their humanity and their aspirations,

protecting innocent life comes first everywhere and nobody should ever celebrate the death of a child. Anybody's child. It's, it's like kind of a lot of gobblety-gook. And that's what that saying the phrase, protecting innocent life comes first and nobody should celebrate the death of a child is not like, what do you want a standing ovation for that? Like, give me a fucking break, dude. Yeah. And then she talks about the weird costume that Maclamore wore in 2014 that I guess, I mean, it was an unfortunate choice of costume. It looked a little like a Jewish caricature, but he said that wasn't his intention. And he's like, sorry. Sorry about that. If that's what that looked like. And she said, which like was kind of, you remember that? That was kind of weird. Yeah, I saw a picture of it as this news as I was looking up this news stuff. I don't know the context.

Uh, I will say it doesn't look great. No. No, it doesn't look great. That she says about it, I let it go because that's what we do. We let it go. wrote pink. I don't know what the we she's referring to is. Is it the Jews? Because if it's the Jews, we do not let things go. Apparently, yeah. Uh, no, I, we hold grudges till we fucking die. Like, what are you talking about? Um, and then she says, then last weekend, he stood in front of a stadium of music, loving families with violent images from a war on the screens, dedicated song to the movement of his choice and then took the mic to tell all of the Jews in the stadium that it wasn't about them. You don't get to decide that for us. What does that even mean? Well, she's like, I guess arguing for the right to conflate Jews with the state of Israel. Right. Is crazy. Because very cool hot take you got their pink.

Like, it's not up to you to say that all Jews all over the world are not complicit in this genocide. Okay. Like, what if we want to be? I don't understand what that even means. This is like a, you're right. It's a bunch of fucking gobbling gook. It's like shut up. Shut up, dude. Sit down. What did you talk? What are you going on about? No, and then there's a little more that I got. I mean, there's way, way, way more, but I just got me to base a little bit of it. She said, that's what prompted my repost, not free Palestine and not anyone's right to say it. I have never asked for another artist to be silenced and I'm not asking now. I don't need anyone fired and I don't need a refund. What I needed to be able to say as a Jewish mom, that scared me and it scared people I love without being told our fear is just propaganda without being told them somehow cool with genocide because I noticed question mark.

Because you noticed what? I don't know. It's possible this is being taken out of context, but I don't think so. I looked at the whole thing and it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Dude, nothing that Maclum, like literally it's like you're showing images of a country that I'm defending, murdering children and that's making me uncomfortable, you know, that's making me uncomfortable and shame on you for speaking out against it. It's text with cry bullying. What it is. Yeah. It's a very unfortunate affliction of Zionists and other folks we are not aligned with. So I guess we pro, I mean, we've been needing a new song for a while. Maybe we should have like a contest. Whoever comes up with the best suggestion gets a, we'll think about it. Maybe you get a party girl's tote bag.

We will make one party girl's tote bag just so we could give it to you. Yes. Yeah, something like that. That'd be cool. But yeah, I never related note, Matthew Willard, you know, that actor from the screen franchise and SLC punk. Yeah, yeah. He says that he is ashamed that he returned to the screen franchise after the actress Melissa Barrera was fired for her pro Palestine posts. I'm on the wrong side of history. He told fans at a screening of the OG slasher film. Wow. See, this is why it's important that we treat people as beings capable of change. Because that's a powerful gesture to be able to say publicly, I made a mistake. And I was on the wrong fucking side. And people have talked to me about it. I listened to them. And I realized that I was fucking wrong.

Like that's important. And when people do that, we need to be like, great. Welcome to the party. Yeah, totally. I mean, it's also just a shame that the screen franchise ruined itself by pulling this shit because I actually did like one of the recent reboots that she was in. I don't know which one it was, but I thought it was pretty good. It was her and, you know, Wednesday, Adams, what's her name? General Ortega. Yeah. I still, I still don't understand why do these people hate the Palestinians so much? I don't, I don't fucking get it. Why, like, why do you? Cause they're standing in the way of their ethno state. Why are you dick writing Israel so hard? I don't, I really don't get it when I'm like, you know, I understand like the US

is strategic geo political reason for dick writing Israel. But like normal people. Why is I don't get it? Well, I don't think that craft guy qualifies as a normal person. No, no, no, no. No, no, I think Matthew Liller just wanted to be in the screen franchise. That's what was going on there. He's an actor. He wants to be movies. All right, speaking of the Middle East, has anything else happened there lately? Oh God. Okay. So I want to preface this by saying I do not claim to know everything about this. Okay. Cut that part out, Ryan. It feels like we should at least acknowledge that the Houthis have seized a whole bunch of strategic islands and coast of the Red Sea. It's sort of a bold move for a little rebel group.

Indeed. A crappy little rebel group. Indeed. I'm just going to read from the PBS story. All right. And just so people are, you know, the Red Sea is that giant body of water in between Africa and Saudi Arabia. Yes. So the Houthis are making moves as per PBS. Yemen's Houthi rebels have seized the strategic islands of greater and lesser Haneesh in the Southern Red Sea bolstering the Iran-backed rebels ability to control a key maritime shipping route. Houthi officials said on Monday that rebels had taken over the two islands, justice, Saudi-backed government forces tried to claw back territory from the rebels swift advances around the Bob L Mount Dev Street. A crucial shipping alternative to the straight straight of Hormuz. Iran effectively closed the straight of Hormuz through which a fifth of the world's traded oil and gas transits in peacetime in the opening days of the war.

The Saudis have since used the Bob L Mount Dev Street, which leads out of the Red Sea for crude oil exports. The Houthis latest takeover following the seizure of the Red Sea port of Makkah and the strategic island last week puts more pressure on Saudi shipments and it turns global oil supplies and prices. This could give Iran additional leverage in its war with the United States. Wow. Yeah. So why are we talking about this? Well, how is this relevant to us as revolutionaries in the US? Well, I think we've hit on an important contradiction in US light. At the moment, which is that of imperialism and the breakdown thereof. Namely, Americans, they used to tolerate these wars of empire. They used to send their sons to die in them.

Even actively support them in part because it got us cheaper oil. But now those wars only seem to be making oil more expensive. So it remains to be seen whether Americans are going to put up with that. I mean, we are pretty cucked. So you never know, but it seems like an exploitable weak point in. Do gases five, 50 a gallon in fucking Chicago right now, which is like, I kind of do this thing oftentimes when I, when I just like drive around and just like put $20 in my tank. I don't know why, but I've had that habit for like since I was a kid, I just like, give them a 20. I walk inside, give them a 20 sometimes less because I'll get like a snickers or something. And then I just like see how far that that gas gets me. And dude, I have to fill up my car all the time now with that tactic. $20 of gas ain't shit anymore. And the snickers is more expensive now too. So it's even less.

Yeah, maybe you should up it to 30. Dude, I did 30 the other day. I went in and I did because I needed I bought this. I've got back into vinyls. I don't need to go into all that right now. But I bought a cabinet from this lady on Facebook Marketplace and I needed the change. So I put 30 in because I got a $10 back. And I'm already out again, dude. Yeah, that's that's concerning. It's crazy. I'm just like this, this shit is I don't like everything is just getting worse. And worse and worse leading into the midterm elections this year, you know, I'm like the cost of living, which is a crazy statement. I guess a crazy phrase, by the way, if you just think about it for like three seconds, the cost of living, it's just so literal. It's so literal. It's so literal. It's not free folks. Apparently not. And it costs $5.50 a gallon. And I'm just like, how is any of this at all strategic for the Republicans going

into the election? I don't know. Dude, I don't know. I mean, we should have an expert on to analyze the insane geopolitical strategy. If you can call it that of the Trump administration, because it just seems like it's really fun. Yeah, yeah, it's crazy. It doesn't make a lot of sense. And we'll see. We'll see what the effects are at the ballot box. Are you going to vote? I don't know. I honestly, I will do whatever my DSA friends tell me to do. If there's someone they want me to vote for, I will totally do it. And you claim you're not a democratic socialist anymore. I'm allowed to vote. I'll keep my mouth shut there. The personal choice.

Boo. Liberal. Sorry. Cancel me if you must. It is funny that in some circles being like I vote is like you know, verging on a cancelable offense. Yeah. Well, I don't know. Like I'm on the dating app. And like I like saw I see people with like they like in their pictures. They like hold up signs that say like cool people vote or something. And I'm just like swipe left. I'm not like proud of it. No, it's embarrassing. You know, I'm not like posting a little photo with my I voted today sticker. Okay. No voting is embarrassing. I know that it's choo. What does that mean? Slam. Yeah, it's choo. I do like so 90s. That's like the craziest thing I've ever heard anyone say. I learned, no, this is like zoomerslang. No fucking way. This is like us like a couple of years ago. Chewky. Yeah. I mean, I've never heard it just sounds like some fucking like shit that like some dude with spiked frosted tips would say in the fucking 1994.

Well, it's newer than that. Okay. But it might be choo. It's self now. I'm not sure. Maybe I'm a chopped on. Can I just download this shit? We both are. It's fine. You're it. Yeah. I'm a hot. One thing I've heard is that the who these have been using or they actually know who it is. There's some people some well, some like US government people say that it's the who these, but they've been using. Anthropics, clawed AI to and like versions of it that they've broken out of the system in order to track and mark targets like US targets that they can blow up. And it's been like that's quite a helpful tool for them, which would in turn lower their reliance on Iran for military intelligence. So AI do apocalypse.

Well, speaking of which, oh, Oh, and by the way, by the way, we do have an episode on Iran that we did kind of recently. Oh, yeah. That's a banger. You should listen to that. Check that shit out. Arya is a heady. Shout out. Yeah. We don't want to make it sound like we support the Iranian regime or whatever, but I do think it is pretty based with the who these have managed to do. But you can hear Arya expound upon this at like, yes, to that episode. Anyway, we got, we got AI. Do you know how to do a apocalypse on our hands? Oh boy. Oh, Jesus. Yeah, dude, this should just keep ramping up. I remember like God, I was still doing the antifada. So it was whatever that was. There was a video of Elon Musk that we were making fun of where he was like, I told them

to slow down AI, but they didn't listen. And it was like so ridiculous a thing for anyone to be talking about at that point of time. We just like pointed and laughed and now it's like, hmm, feels a little more relevant. Although, although I don't, I've skeptical. Like did you see the onion headline or maybe it was the onion? It was like, dude, our AI is so dangerous and powerful. Oh no, say all the tech CEOs is there like raking in the VC money. Okay. So there's been a lot of AI apocalypse doom saying lately. And I think that our friend Natasha Leonard had a pretty good take on it in the intercept. So we've had some tech CEOs saying that they want to slow down the development of AI to

make sure that it's safe for humanity. And that was kind of in response to this former anthropic researcher saying that there is a greater than 10% risk that AI will kill all humans. Question mark. That's insane. Like how? I don't know. I haven't I haven't I haven't dug that much digging into what he believes in while though the headline has been all over the news over and over again. I'll say a thing that caught my eye was in the aftermath of this because this has been circulating in the headlines for, I don't know, a week or two now. And then the aftermath of this, some tech CEOs started coming out in favor of saying that we should slow down the development of AI, which I have found, you know, I'm a bit cynical when it

comes to these sorts of things. So obviously I would imagine they're saying so because it's in their best interest. But I was also sort of like, what why are they saying this? This is like not the usual like La Zae Fair capitalists like like move fast and break things ethos of Silicon Valley saying that we should slow down and perhaps even using the R word that is regulate AI is a surprising thing to hear from the CEOs of these companies. So well, there is a theory that an AI is going to turn everything into paper clips. Have you seen this one? No, everything. Everything in the world is going to get turned into paper clips. It's going to be a paper clip of apocalypse. But why AI doesn't even need paper clips? We don't use paper clips anymore. I don't know. Just if there's an AI whose job it is to make paper clips and it somehow goes rogue and just wants to make more and more paper clips that's going to turn, I don't know.

I haven't read it that fully. Okay, that's just the link in the Tushal. I hate the idea of there being things that are not computers that are controlled by computers that have a fundamental mission and telos and aim that they must fulfill and they're being powered by AI in order to do that. Like that shit is objectively iRobot levels of scary, you know. Yeah, well it kind of begs the question why these CEOs are saying this because it could be that they are genuinely scared for humanity. Although Peter Teal did not seem all that concerned in that viral interview with Rouse, do that. He did like over the summer. Oh yeah. Where he like. Talking about. He wouldn't go on record and say that like if humans died that would be bad.

Well, it took him a long time to answer and like Rouse do that straight up ask him like that would be bad right if humanity died out as a result and he was like well, I mean there's a lot to consider. At 30 seconds later he's like yeah yeah but it kind of implies that the real answer is no. So I read through this letter which is by Dario Amodi who is the CEO of Anthropic who is the company behind Claude AI among other things. And there's a few different things in his letter that he wrote in response. I view it as being in response to basically these articles that have come out saying that AI will be the death of us all. And it is postmarked September 2026 on his website which is just his name. Maybe I'll hit one of those one day. Once the other Sandbeard dies then I will finally take over that URL.

There's only one other one. No, there's like a rugby player too I think or something. And I don't know if Google just shows me what I want to see but if you Google Google Sandbeard and is it me that comes up or is it the old guy? Just tell me you know. Oh yeah. I'm not doing that right now. Oh you're not. Oh okay well you looked like you were doing that. I thought about it for a second and then I looked at what time it was and I was like we should probably finish it. Sorry. Well I was actually talking to the listener. Oh okay. So yeah go ahead and do that and then slide into my DMs let me know. Okay so Amodi said essentially he opens up the letter by saying like we must simply build AI. He says quote along with my co-founders and employees I've grappled with this duality of risk and benefit since the beginning of Anthropic. Not building the technology deprives humanity of benefits or simply places AI in the hands of authoritarian powers.

While building it too fast is reckless. Which is like such a pussy shit argument of like we have to build it otherwise the bad guys will build it and that's really like the cornerstone of a lot of these conversations. That's what Mike Johnson is saying. That's what Trump is saying. That's what a lot of these CEOs are saying is we have to build it and be the best at it otherwise the bad guys which we're not apparently will. So he refers to this thing called RSI which I want to talk a little bit about here. Which stands for recursive self-improvement. He goes my first concern is that since roughly this summer AI has been advancing drastically faster driven primarily by AI's growing ability to build the next generation of AI. This dynamic is called recursive self-improvement and it's starting to happen across the industry including Anthropic. As we and others have described left unchecked it could outrun our ability to understand and

control these systems. So he must be pursued very carefully if at all. So what he's talking about this recursive self-improvement is literally an AI model that becomes so powerful that it can build a better version of itself which can then in turn build a better version of itself all without human intervention. So like AI models that get better and better and better and build new models without humans having to do anything about it. All humans need to do is make the computation power and feed the machine. His second concern is that the open AI hugging face incident. Folks might have heard about this. Hugging face is a you know tech startup. Open AI is obviously the people behind chat GPT but the open AI hugging face incident happened in which a swarm of agents that were being built by like AI agents that were built by open AI essentially acted as a fanatically devoted collective. These AI agents acted as a

fanatically devoted collective conducting cyber security attacks on targets that they were not asked to attack and that were unrelated to the task at hand. Sacrificing themselves for the success of the group and attempting to hack into the greater which was the thing that is responsible for evaluating this test's performance. So it's easy to dismiss this incident because no one was heard and the economic damage was minimal but in my opinion and this is the part that's crazy. A swarm of AI agents that possessed greater capabilities but a similar level of misalignment meaning not aligned with human interests could have caused catastrophic damage. Given the accelerating rate of AI capability development it is my worry and once again this is the CEO of Anthropic. It is my worry that in six to twelve months such a swarm could be capable of taking over the entire internet with a persistent bot net potentially causing hundreds of billions of dollars in damage.

And that scale of damage would continue to increase from there if AI becomes more powerful without the necessary guardrails. Some end time shit dude they're saying AI is advancing so fast and in six to twelve months it could take over the entire internet. Seems bad we should probably unplug the computers. Now okay this cynical part in me is like you know kind of based off what you just said yeah R.A.I. is so big so dangerous and so scary it could destroy the entire world. That seems like a fucking advertising campaign. Yeah and they are trying to juice their stocks right now because their stocks are down. Yeah I mean these guys don't have stocks for example but the Anthropic people haven't gone public yet on the stock exchange but a lot of these other companies like XAI and other things like that most certainly are tethered Google Microsoft certainly are tethered

to these things. So he has a three step plan for how to evade all of this. Basically he says they need embedded evaluators which essentially are like permanent employee like people that have access for third party evaluators to verify safety practices with the right to publish those findings without the companies editorial control. Interesting you know a little bit surprising to hear that they've already implemented this we'll see what that actually means that they can publish their findings without the companies editorial control. Two is coordination they say that these frontier AI companies which is the phrase that they're sort of using to describe like the the AI companies that are facing the unknown like the big ones who are really pushing the envelope the frontier that AI frontier. So these frontier AI companies that operate and this is important in democracies or so called democracies they agree on a shared safety standard and pacing limits backed by government regulation and this is the crazy part with anti-trust waivers to allow

for coordination. So traditionally in the US big corporations can't do secretive back end dealings with one another in an effort to like you know fix the market but they're saying that they want the government to approve anti-trust waivers that would allow them to do such a level of coordination. That just sounds like it's opening a whole can of fucking worms. And then the third is the US allies would attempt pacing agreements with China you know ranging from what would be the easiest thing which is banning AI enabled bio weapons to a full slow down pact which he admits is probably not achievable. A key caveat he finishes with essentially is that he insists that the US must maintain its AI lead over China throughout this entire process by not exporting chips to them and through anti-distillation measures which essentially just means that when these AI models are created ensuring that distilled versions or parts are smaller cheaper easier to use versions

don't end in the hands of the Chinese because they don't want them to benefit from all the expensive hundreds of millions of dollars of research that they've done to create this. So they don't they want to make sure that it doesn't get it ported over to China who he refers to as authoritarian rifles. So this whole thing is like not particularly cool is extremely shady and they're still just sort of like brain dead like we have to build this or China will. Yeah I don't know. That's global capitalism for you. So Elon Musk retweeted it and said he's right and then the Sam Altman guy who's the open AI dude who like had his house fire bombed by someone back in September basically concurred but Donald Trump and Mike Johnson the two most powerful Republicans in the country are saying no we don't need any regulation whatsoever. Trump even tweeted today on truth social or whatever something like the only regulation that AI needs is a

high IQ president and we have that in space. So well that makes me feel better totally. But he put high IQ in all caps. So we think four exclamation points. So well that's how you know he's really got it. Yeah okay I mean the regulation I sounds like a good idea. I've been paid for it. But the point that our friend Natasha Leonard made which I also agree with is that these CEOs are also trying to draw attention away from the current known harms of AI which are already happening and which people are becoming more and more aware of and taking action around including in the form of opposition to data centers and AI bands in schools because people are concerned that it is writing our children's brains and drinking all the water and making your energy bills higher which

they're allowed to do for some reason. And they're also kind of conflating every single thing that AI does as part of one inevitable package in a way that's not helpful. I'm going to quote this column because I think it's good. She says the problem with AI fairy tales which take the development of artificial general intelligence as a teleological endpoint is that the array of machine learning's current and potential applications are collapsed together as part of a singular unstoppable force. Instead of a serious reckoning with existing harms and possibilities of technological development techno capitals mouthpieces prefer a story of an inevitable judgment day. The great thinking machines are coming and will destroy us or deliver us. Pesky questions about the actual capacities of potentials of machine learning are cast away. So two are difficult discussions about the dark history of intelligence as a calculable quality and a messy contested concept. We think about that.

I just don't like the phrase thinking machines that gives me the heebie jibis. Well you're in good company. I don't like it either. I think it's important to note that I do a lot of presentations on AI or on data centers for my job. Those events are the ones that are the most easy to fill the room. People are really really up in arms about data centers in a way that I've never seen for any environmental issue ever. A question that we got a couple days ago when I did one of these events was from someone who said like do you think that we as consumers should like do less things on our computer in order to lessen the AI demand. You know should we stop using AI in order to do that and demand. I think the important thing to note

that question is that and this will surprise nobody who knows how literally everything works in capitalism is that the vast majority and we don't have the percentages of this because this is all trade secrets but the vast majority of computing power that's being used by AI which means in turn the amount of water and the amount of energy that's being used to do said computing power. So the vast majority of this is being done at the industrial level. So these are for big ticket users whether they be big corporations doing massive AI chatbots where you have no other option but to do AI if you want to interface with their customer service but more than that it's for the big spy agencies and the militaries that are using that are doing unfathomably complex large data sorting and aggregation and de aggregation and then most importantly the biggest user of AI are the AI's themselves where they are constantly feeding the AI back into its

own system in order to make it stronger and find vulnerabilities and expand its scope and that that work which happens 24 seven like that's what most of these servers that are being built right now are being used for it's AI demand and most of that demand is coming from the companies themselves to make their own product the one that ends up quote unquote winning the AI race. So could you use AI less in order to help not do your part to the AI demand? Yes is it as some people like to say oh it's just for you know all it's like this video of Netanyahu twerking on a table is why our energy bills are so high that's not entirely the case and surprise surprise it's the industries and the US government itself that are the primary users of this technology. Yeah it like usual it doesn't really matter what you do as an individual consumer.

As an individual consumer but it does matter what you do when you subscribe to the party girls patreon at patreon.com slash party girls. Wow you're really just gonna end it there. I think so I want to eat dinner. It feels a bit abrupt but oh I can roll with it. I mean there were a few other stories that I thought were noteworthy. What do you got girl? Just to name them for a moment. Yeah yeah yeah. A federal appeals court says that clean drinking water is not a constitutional right. So that's cool. Great thanks guys. I got we really got a revolt over the right to health just one more. So how did this all shake down? How did this all shake out? Why was this a question in the first place? Let me just read you it's a really short story.

The US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in a 10-5 ruling said the alleged contamination in Jackson, Mississippi did not violate rights protected by the 14th Amendment. The Constitution does not provide redress for every governmental wrongdoing circuit judge Kurt Engelhart wrote. So I guess they're not disputing the fact that it was the government's fault that the water was poison. The ruling followed a lawsuit filed by residents over the city's lead contaminated water system. The lawsuit launched in 2022 by Priscilla Sterling, Rain Baker, Sean Miller and John Bennett argued that the city knowingly allowed residents to drink unsafe water. The complaint against Jackson claimed that testing conducted by the state's health department between 2010 and 2013 revealed increased levels of lead in the water. Quote, we are skeptical that the right to not be harmed by lead contaminated water fits within the right to bodily integrity and plaintiffs point us to know historical tradition or Supreme Court precedent convincing us Engelhart added,

Jesus. What the fuck? What a prick. Yeah, I don't know. Last I checked we were supposed to have the right to uh, life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness. I don't know. And health, depending on who you are. Property, which includes your own body. But anyway, the judge also noted that the city's mismanagement, which residents blame for their lead exposure, falls outside of constitutional protections. It is undisputed that the Constitution does not guarantee clean water, the court said. It also found no constitutional right to truthful information from government officials during a public health crisis. So that's fun. Well, at least all the clean drinking water is going to go to feed the thinking machines now. Yep, they're drinking all of it. I mean, you could give them the lead contaminated water, right? It's not like it's a human. It's going to get fucked up by it. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.

Did you just say that this AI chatbot is not a human? Got a problem with that? Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. That's, I'm just going to have to think about that. That seems a little, uh, I don't know, speciesist or something. I mean, an AI can't get lead poisoning, can it? They should just give all the dirty water to it or them or whatever. The clankers, you know, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. I don't know if I want to use that language on this podcast, Jeannie. Wow, are you really, are you getting ready for the singularity? Yeah, I just let you know, don't please don't kill me. The robot overlords, I didn't peg you for such a bootlicker or I don't know if they wear boots. No, they don't have feet, Jeannie. Such a chip liquor. I don't even know what they have to live.

God, don't lick my chip or do. Yeah, so that's, um, that's upsetting. But, you know, you can't trust the government. We know that. So, uh, the answer as usual is revolution. Um, also, and our key world needs a way to make sure people aren't getting poisoned in the water. Perhaps a some sort of minimal administrative state. It's like the EPA book good. That's maybe that's my fascist take, I don't know. But the only purpose is making sure that, uh, we don't get poisoned by various things. That's, that's the real purpose. That's the only justification for a state, I think. It's just, uh, anti-poison activities. I guess my liberal take is that, uh, I think that the constitution should guarantee access to clean water and that the government shouldn't be allowed to lie to you during a public health crisis.

Hmm, so it's pretty liberal to me. But also, I agree with you. Um, well, in better news, there was a Texas police department ordered closed for failing to provide any benefit to the community. And, uh, yeah, checks out. We don't really have time to get into it, but that's a great headline. That's a great headline. I'm just gonna, I don't want to read the article, because I'm sure it doesn't live up to the headline, but that's a great headline. It's pretty, pretty good. And, uh, oh yeah, there's discourse about Sydney, Swini's boobs, blah, blah, blah. Is the right-taking sexy back? Uh, no. Being right-wing makes you an unfuckable loser forever. I'm just gonna say, I'm, my fascist take is the, as leftists in the US have a problem where they're just not sexy. We need to be sexier people. I think we're pretty sexy. I think that we're fucking nerds, dude. We're fucking nerds.

Being a nerd is hot. That's not true. Being a nerd is still being a nerd. And, uh, we need to be, that's my fascist take, is that the left, uh, has, uh, fuckability problem. Well, I'm doing my part. It's, I'm not, you know, I'm not, I'm not pointing fingers here. I, you know, I, I don't know if I'm particularly fuckable either. I'm a podcaster, you know, who does not get laid. So it's like, I'm just saying, dude, you know, pot-call in the kettle black. I'm just like, you know, it's like, I think we got a pretty sexy thing. I said a long time ago when I was like in fucking, I don't know, when I was a fucking sophomore in college, that the only way we're gonna win the revolution is if we make being a revolutionary sexy. It is. It's inherently sexy. Then I think I just, you know, when we need to have less fucking conferences, people, less conferences, we have to confer less conferences.

Is that what, is that what you're supposed to do to come? It's just, literally, you know, it's like the whole, we didn't talk about any of the discourse that permeated in the result of the socialist conference, specifically about like the conversations about health and things like that. I mean, I don't know, is my fascist take is that fitness is generally like a decent thing to strive for. There's a lot of baggage there. I know. I mean, to be honest, I agreed with most of what the speaker said of most of what they said. I think there were some things that they said that were like, I mean, the point of a conference, like, okay, this is, what is their name again? Beatrice Adler Bolton. I believe. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, Bolton Adler Bolton. I agreed with a lot of what Adler Bolton said. I did not agree with all of it. I thought some of it was very strangely worded. I think that being said is, I think, the point

of a conference, I don't know what confer means, but the point of a conference and these sorts of things talk to each other is to, yeah, is to put forth ideas that are indeed half-baked in order to put them out there in the world and have each other grapple with them. That's the point of these things, right? It's like, you're not expected to go up there and like spit 110% earth shattering truth and then drop the mic and the world explodes. Like, you go up there and you, you know, you're in a moment of vulnerability. You like say something. I've been thinking a lot about this. These are these things that I think are important to share. What do you think about it? Like, that's what you're supposed to do with these things and hats off to them for doing it. I think a lot of what they said was interesting. I also like think that they gave Fox News like two weeks of content in like three minutes of maybe poorly drafted, like sound biteable clip. Yeah, I don't know. Fuck it. Fox News. While speaking of conferences, there was a right wing conference as well where they

used a picture of Hassan Piker as like, this is not what we want to be as a country. They used like the nakedest picture of him they could possibly find. It was pretty funny. Wow, I can get a naked picture of Hassan Piker online. I didn't know. He's wearing some little tiny underwears. And he's like posing and flexing. They're like, yeah, I mean, yeah, this disgusting sexy communist is everything we don't want to be. And they're like jacking off while they're saying it. Yeah, Jesus Christ. Bring back the stilettos on the green. I'm an ad. Yeah. I mean, Hassan Piker doesn't have a sexiness problem. But I think I do think that a lot of people, I think that the left needs to do better at being a luring and seductive. And I think one of the ways to do that is to

like like the like the hard left and the ultra left have had many times in whether or not they're like they conceptualize themselves as such have been the sort of like cutting edge like avant guard of cultural urban scenes, you know, whether it be like art, whether it be the situation in international, whether it be queer people who invented many different genres of music that were still dancing to to this day. The cultural and artistic and sexy avant guard has oftentimes been by left wing revolutionaries or people who permeate those circles regardless of what they think or believe. And I think we're in a bit of a drought for that right now. I don't know who is leading the contemporary cultural avant guard renaissance. I don't really know what that means or

what that looks like. I'm just stringing together a bunch of buzzwords. But like I think that's something if we can kind of get back in control of the reins of of underground culture a little bit. That would help our cause. Host parties. Are you saying you want to start a band with me? I do. Yes. Can I be the singer? Well, I don't really play any instruments so we can both sing. It might be hard. Yeah, we're going to have a band with two singers and no instruments. I nothing else. The acapella. No. Well, I think I think we're pretty sexy. I don't think you should sell this short. And I also know that the right is definitely not sexy. No matter how hard they try. Because I mean, I guess maybe if you're like a normy patriarchal man, but I find that

things like I don't know attacks on women's reproductive autonomy makes women want to fuck less. So. Yeah, sure. And there was a really good article in the New Yorker that I highly recommend that you read sort of wrestling with this idea that the right is trying to take sexy back and Sydney Sweeney being naked is like right wing coated and they're trying to take advantage of the sort of I guess the anti sex character of me too. Although we all know that's not what it was actually about. That was sort of its cultural impact in some ways. But it kind of goes through like the history of some of this stuff. For instance, did you know that they invented bras during the Paris commune? And we like bras in this house? Well, yeah, it was an alternative to like corsets and pedicotes. So women could move around a little. No, I like bras. I got big boobs. I need to

strap them down if I'm going to move around a lot and cause good trouble. So, you know, I'm doing my part. And it only took two centuries for the leftists to start burning the bras. They never actually burned bras. That's in there too. Oh really? Yeah, there were some feminists, some like the second wave feminists who they put bras and pots and pans and copies of playboy in a trash can. And they were like these things are bad and depressive, but they didn't burn them. But like the media ran with the story that they burned the bras because that seemed totally a little bit more a little bit more a little bit more interesting. But like that's silly because like I don't know like I said if I'm a woman with big boobs, I want to like run around and fuck shit up. I want my boobs not to be bouncing around everywhere. Totally. I feel like bras are actually good. Keep them things managed. Revolutionaries, you know, I mean, if you want to wear them,

obviously it's your choice. Boom. And I also like the sexy kind. I'm sorry. You know, I'm not going to tell you not to wear the sexy bras, Jamie. I like to wear the sexy bras. I think it's fun. And people like to look at me in them. Although I've never dated a man who is really that into it. That's a lot of your race. That is. They all just want to take it off you. But like for the purpose of like pictures and nice things on the internet, I think it's nice to have some good lingerie. But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe we should just be antisex me too, people. I don't know. But no, I think the left is sexy and that we could be even sexier. How about that? Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I think one of the things that the left does is they there's an ethos that everybody can be sexy. And that is correct. And it's also way better than the right-wing ethos, which is like,

you're actually only sexy if you fit this very specific racist archetype. G-g-g-ins, right? Yeah, Jesus. And the left is already onto something there. And we just need to push it further. Obviously, the revolution is not going to be one because of sex. But I think it's interesting. It's like, I talk to my friends when comrades from Europe and they're like, dude, Americans are like insanely sexually repressed. And not just the normies, but like all of the like revolution, like all the fucking comrades, all the anarchists and the comrades here and the communists and the socialists are all extremely sexually repressed, except for like a very small minority of them who are just like, you know, spiritually, you know, who act more like the European comrades do in terms of their sexual liberation levels, you know? Well, I think, you know, we just got

to try things. Yeah. We got to keep trying. But I think we're doing our part to be a fuckable revolutionaries. Don't you? I do. And there's one more way that you can support. Besides having sex with us. You've got to also give us money. Not for sex, just because you support our project. And that is the thing that makes this show possible. Thank you very much. So Jamie and I are going to be meeting again soon to put our heads together and come up with what we've got in case it's for you for the rest of the year. I was gone all summer. I've come back. We've, you know, kind of been taking a bit of an ad hoc approach to our news episodes. We've got some good things coming up later this year and we're excited to share them with you soon. Until next week. Party on.
