2:05I am going to be repeating this, perhaps with the rest of my life, certainly the rest of the night as I lie in bed, trying to figure out how the Eagles just caught this game up. There are third straight loss, now two and three on the season. Like I said, I'm Rob Ellis. John Richie, do you have an answer to my rhetorical question that I'm asking in the echoes of my own brain? No, Bert. The very first kickoff of the game, the very first kickoff of the game. We saw that our special teams were a problem. They had a nice return. I'm sitting there thinking, wow, this is when Trot Jr. got ejected. I'm thinking holy cow, that is just a direct trickle down effect.

3:07We have our special teamers now elevated to playing a lot of spots across that roster now. So what happens to our special teams? Well, the special teams gets worse and we saw it from the very opening kickoff that fortunately for us, there were enough penalties thrown on that play that it didn't cost. It was 92 yards for folks who didn't see it, John. And Trotter and Brian Thomas Jr. get into a fight, both get ejected, but there's other penalties. So everything starts over again and it doesn't count. So it just sort of went away, but it should have stuck in the crawl of the coaching staff and everyone who was watching. Uh oh, our special teams are now significantly hampered by the fact that our best special teamers, you know, a lot of them are having a play. Trot Jr. being one of them, but then Trot gets ejected. That puts us at a disadvantage defensively and, man, despite that, I thought our defense

4:10played incredibly well today. I took the jags out of their comfort zone, but my gosh, to your point, Bert, why do you not kick that ball into the end zone? It comes out to the 40 and the game's over. It's over the game. One second, John. It's over. All right. That it's crazy to me. I hope that's a miss. I hope that's a miss by Jake Elliott on the kick itself. I hope that we find out maybe it was told possible. That of the end zone, he flubbed it somehow, you know, shank the kick because that is the duty of the special teams coach Michael Clay and the head coach Nick Zaryani to get in his here and say, dude, all you got to do is get through the end zone. It's over. Yep. Yeah. And somehow you lose. And the worst part of it, John, is what kind of victory this would have been. You are insanely shorthanded and you've got it out. And you're, as you mentioned, you know, the defense does everything they can do.

5:11The offense when they absolutely have to have a drive finally mercifully, get some points in the second half of the season, which we haven't seen them do since the freaking Titans game. And they put together a great drive, executed perfectly, bang the field goal throw and you're thinking, as bad as all of this has been this year, you're coming out of there with that long ass flight with a win and you're above 500. But yet you lost your third straight because you can't execute at a high level. And now we're below 500 for the first time since 2021. This team is not accustomed to losing. This team is, you know, the roster has been so superior for the last five years. We haven't even had to consider this possibility. But here we sit. Our roster is depleted. As I said, the special teams guys are now starters and who's playing special teams. It looks horrendous. And the coaches are continuing to make just dumb, dumb, uninformed decisions on a weekly

6:14basis. Today we overcame a lot of that. Today we somehow, you know, the offense was more functional in the second half, despite all the injuries. You know, we were getting first down. We were converting thirds into firsts, which is something new for us, you know, as of recently speaking, but I did. I think that game was so heartbreaking because we felt like we somehow defeated the odds. And there were eight seconds left. And all we had to do was kick the ball through the end zone. I don't get it. There's eight seconds left, John. And they have no timeouts. Jacksonville, eight seconds left. So you boot that thing through the end zone and you take your chances. You take your chances. Yeah. The odds are Jacksonville knows, all right. I'm at least going to try to advance this a little bit and get down with time left. So maybe Trevor Lawrence can throw a hell marry or something, right? But you obviously there's total breakdowns on the plate and they get it in field.

7:15It's inexplicable that this happened. Yes. Yes it is. I do not understand. Who is most to blame on this? Who? I. It's going to be a tough one for Nick Serioni. John, I can tell you this. It's going to be a hell of a week for him. And we're going to hear from him in a little bit. We're going to hear from Jaylen Hertz that he is going to get killed. He is going to get killed. And it's going to be hard to defend. To be fair, to be fair, Michael Clay needs to take a beer. No, I agree. Michael Clay is the special team's coach. It is his job to get in the ear of Jake Elliott, dude. Just kick it through the end zone. That's all we need. Don't worry about anything else. Your job is to kick it as hard as you can, as far as you can. Kick a field goal on this kickoff. Just get it out of here. Don't let anyone return this thing because we are seriously. We are on the short end of the stick in terms of having guys who can cover everyone's playing defense now. And that was not done.

8:15There's a lot of blame to go around. But we somehow got the worst game out of the Jacksonville Jaguar. Liam Colman tried to give him this game. John. That was horrific. He was horrific. How much of that is lame? The Jaguars? How much of that is credit? Our coaching staff and our players. I need to watch this game again just to have a better grip on how that works. But I thought that we somehow managed to pull out a game. We were not in any way supposed to win. We were not the better team out there today, personnel wise. We are so banged up yet we were in that game and we took it to the Jaguars. We played well considering the deficiencies. All things considered, Jalen Hertz, let's give them some credit. That was a lot more than I expected from Jalen Hertz. He was able to get the ball down field more than I expected. He was able to get the ball out of his hand quicker than we've seen in a long time.

9:18So credit to that young offensive line. I'm not saying a great job protecting him because he was getting the ball out quickly. But the coaches did a good job preparing the young O line who has not played together ever, ever before. They did enough to protect our quarterback, to put him in position, to get us in a spot to win that game. And I thought that was never in a million years feasible. I did not expect this to win this game yet we should have won this game when it was all said and done. It's hard to win football games when you have 94 net yards of offense and three points in a second half. When you have 232 total yards and 22 yards rushing, I know they're banged up and everything you just said is right. I'm not disputing any of that, John. It's just a really hard way to do business. And the defense, I'm not even going to say they finally broke because Parker Washington makes a great catch. The defense did more than their job. And when they had to get a quick three and out for Jacksonville, they delivered.

10:19I mean, Jaylen Carter was a man possessed today. He was really hard. He played his best game of the season. No question about it. Again, I have to look at it again. This might have been his best game. I can remember seeing in a long time. He was so physically dominant. He was, I mean, he was untouchable. The quick moves in a phone booth that he's somehow able to juke guys where they can't even get a hand on him. That is rare. And then he can also run right through you, run right over you. He was so impressive. Got his hands up, swatted, passes down, strip, sack, strip, sack. He made a mess of that taggoers offense. That's a real positive we can take from this because he had not played up to that standard, up to that new contract yet. But today it was very clear. He took it upon himself. It was a personal challenge. I'm going to do everything I can to win this game for my team.

11:23And he absolutely did that. He did as much as he possibly could. He was great. And we'll get into some guys who played well. But man, this was John. This was one of those that could flip your season. You come out of there with an unexpected win with a scrappy, gutty, shorthanded win on the road and all of a sudden you're above 500 and you're setting up for Carolina next week. And they couldn't do it. And they couldn't do it. And this is right up there with his bad regular season loss where maybe the playoffs weren't on the line is I can remember 2155 9294 94 94. 17:38can say is the past protection was giving us more outs today you know we were throwing the ball hot today we were quick you know quick release in that thing Jaylen was getting it out on time for the most part because he knew he was going to have to it I'm all but certain that that's the way they talked this week hey they've got a real solid pass rush they got up field in a hurry we're going to get it out one two three boom one two three four five boom get it out of your hands because that's that's how we're going to win this one that's how that's how we have a chance today yeah the the shorter passing game it worked on occasion but we really got to be worried about the fact that the run game which is supposed to be the basis and foundation of the offense is nonexistent yeah I I'm just worried about the team in general John I mean this is the second week they blown a late lead and you know it was last week they're up 10 with four and a half minutes to go they blow that this one they put together a great drive deliver and then they allow a 57 yard or a 53 yard return

18:41and then a 57 yarder to win it it just these is this is not the kind of stuff that happened the last few years to this team it looks a lot different and I granted there's different players on the field but still that's the big thing the last few years this team has been just incredibly lucky with the injuries and I believe they thought they were they were they were creating that luck by keeping everyone out of training camp by by not practicing by not hitting I think it's catching up now yeah I think the not practicing the not hitting that means that we have guys out there on the field who have not had any reps in what they're doing now and you see it you see the way we are behind now you know the last few years it has helped us win a Super Bowl here I do believe that the hold everyone out we're not going to risk it but you know it's a year-to-year proposition this NFL thing and and luck has not been on our side in the injury sense at all and so now we have

19:48guys who are hurt anyway despite the fact that they protected them all of training camp they go out and play in a real game and get hurt and now we've got just a bunch of newbies out there guys who don't really know how to execute this offense because they've never practiced it and now here they are doing walkthroughs during the week trying to get a feel for how it's going to feel on Sunday and I'm telling you nothing can really prepare you adequately except getting out there with the real bullets flying cleats on your feet locked in and sticking your face on people this is going to take a while for this new offensive line to get where it needs to be to allow us to run the football adequately to fully support the past game and then it for that matter fully support our defense that by the end of every game is completely gassed out of their minds because our offense can't sustain drives properly yep absolutely let's kick things off Neil in North Jersey let it rip Neil let's go

35:08this team needs to score more in the second half i can't believe three games we have three points yep you know i have three games in the second half that is inexcusable and like it's just in the one second thing like what is going on in the nfl and the college football with the one second thing i feel like i've watched six games this year between western michigan michigan and other games where there's one second put left on the clock and there's something about that i don't know if it's vegas or whatever the hell is going on but it just it seems odd to me but it's just yeah it happens twice in this game dan and i actually think both times there there was a second left i mean don't kill a messenger but yeah i don't know i got you yeah but like i i just feel like it just seems they've been happening way more this season and our running game on top of that terrible and and even with between sake one and tank being out and then ship me on what got injured earlier in this game so our running games is dead i think you did get hurt dan he's at he was out for for the

38:16like i am i'm bewildered i honestly am at the way that this thing went and it's uh it's one small part of the game uh but such a major oversight i do hope we get some sort of explanation and it makes sense but i feel like it probably won't it's really going to be hard to explain this to my satisfaction none and it is good is and jake alley it's been five for five and he drills a money field goal there and usually i i feel like michael clays unit is up to the task what the hell has happened to them how do you not just make a basic play on a kickoff there i mean that is the most paramount thing that there is to we're letting them off the hook a little bit here because they do a basic thing the prop is when you have special teamers moving into starting spots which you know we've had

39:17all throughout this season when you have those guys who are lower on the totem pole being elevated you've got uh it's a good point to survey on the special teams units and so it it makes sense it makes sense that you don't have all your normal guys run down and cover and kicks and it makes sense that there could be mistakes being made or you know guys not playing with the proper leverage with the proper arm free it's really a shame and and it was the first thing i thought in this game and it was the last thing and john all the more reason you don't give them an opportunity yeah yeah the opening kickoff we got trot junior getting kicked out of the game trot junior was going to starting it inside linebacker for us that hurts us so much but it also takes our best special teamer off the field he was gone he's he's tough he he'll stick his face in there he runs down and makes tackles on every play he was gone so you elevate someone

40:18else his backup on special teams becomes a lot more important i i don't know exactly who that was but they're trying to fill in gaps off throughout the game the fact that you've got i mean just the starters out who you've got out you know the you got darius Cooper who caught a touchdown for us but he was elevated offensively i'm sure to give him a break they took him off of some of the special teams units that he would have been on and as a result you've got guys less experience trying to run down there and make plays and we failed we failed to make plays we our best special teamers are now elevated to starters guys who are playing a lot more that means we have less good experienced special teamers and you can see the results the opening kickoff of the game is returned for a touchdown but it's called back because too many guys were doing dumb stuff somehow that doesn't register in the coaches mind in the god yes yes they forgot all the more

41:24reason that you don't let them make the mistakes kick it out of bounds put your defense out there look i'd rather take the the penalty where the ball comes out to the 40 it doesn't feel like a penalty if it's going to use clock and they will have one snap they will have one snap from the 40 yard line to try to score to try and throw it to the boundaries because you know that's what's going to happen he's going to try and get a quickie to the boundaries so you cover the boundaries you'll load up on the boundaries and i can't i can't even we're going to hear from mix irionys soon i am perplexed beside myself uh demon let's see if the mind's ready demon you're on the Eagles post game show hey i'm ready man rolling in a cat scan right now let's let's all know you're getting a cat scan right now yes absolutely i'm in the VA hospital shot i'll tell my VA people don't let me out i want to show the mind but wish you all the best brother yeah

46:37out of bounds at the end can you take us through your thoughts sister you know our guys fought their fought their butts off today uh defense had an outstanding game keeping us in that game offense did enough at the end to go win us that game special teams did a nice job kicking the there you know an m a the right decision and i lost this that game and that's what i said to our guys um and and what hurts there is that you know the guys fought so hard and then i don't make the decision that um you know that i should make it then the game and i cost us that one that game and i put that fully on me i know there's another reason i'm buying every decision you do make though so in that moment what is the thought process from what you've planned what you practice like what is the decision yeah i'm not gonna go too much into into that um you know i i don't really want to get into exactly what that is at the end of the day i didn't make the right decision and it cost us the game um you know and so uh there's no other way around it there's nothing nothing really

47:38else to say about that it's just you know i didn't i didn't do my job well good enough in that situation you like typically you'd like to kick a game and you feel well with no seconds left did you think you could have done something before they kick off you know well we were they were in some they were you went you would like to have it with three seconds left um and you know in that situation we um you know they they use their timeouts we ran the ball at the end with you know you'd love to pick up a first down there uh and be able to call a timeout and grandfather time out at meaning call it at about five seconds um they stopped us there and we weren't able to do that you know so in that situation um you know them have it holding on to their timeouts help them and to get that last last play but it should never came down to that you know i'm saying like just held the ball for a while and so the clock went down yeah but you don't want to lose too many yards there i mean it's still a long fuel bowl um and so yeah that could be something that you would do but

48:41when you do that um Jeff you typically when you because there's going to be pushed on the inside you're probably going to lose two three four yards in that situation when you do that um and that wasn't in our thought process at that particular time because of the being able to lose yards I know there are some decisions situationally that are black and white was this one of those based on situation or was there some gray area with this one at the end uh there's always it football we want in football to be as black and white as we possibly can but there's gray in it right you know there is gray in it um like i said guys like there's really nothing else to say i didn't make the decision the right decision in that situation they returned it to where they returned it and then they made a kick uh you know credit to them on that and you know again you know bad job by me i know you watch a lot of other games around the league and try to learn from what happens in those games that the Dallas Baltimore game in the game yeah i watched a ton of those i watched a ton of those situations um in uh you know obviously we had one against Tennessee

49:45um you know i watched a ton of those situations after that Dallas game and again just didn't make the right decision in this particular case uh let's john let i just want to jump in on this so um you know sometimes you andy re would give you i got to do a better job and all that you just felt like he was just saying that this felt like a guy who was rocked to me and tell me if i'm i'm being a little naive like i'm not letting him off the hook understand what i'm saying but i i felt this was genuine that nick feels like he caused this team the game you're you're impressions i don't understand why if you made this decision you don't defend it or give us some reason why you didn't do the obvious that everyone at home is thinking why what what could possibly have motivated you as the head coach to tell him keep it in bounds we want these guys who've been

50:46i mean bust in their butts all game trying to cover when they are outmatched let's let's go let's go gamble again you know like let's go try to see if they're you know good return guys can outpace our bad second and third string special teamers why why would that why would that be your decision for any reason there's no explanation i would love to have some better some reasoning so just provide something man yeah and don't give me the competitive thing where i'm not going to give this up because it's some kind of competitive advantage that's not the case here right that's all you're not you're not giving anything away what you accept you gave the game away correct now we'd like to know why we'd like to know why you could have possibly thought something so inept but please explain because so yeah we we're talking to folks on on you know the calls
