Eagles' Defense, Hurts' Feats: Contenders or Pretenders?

0:00On April 5th, Eagles fans, the off-season's flying by with the draft just 18 days out and training camp three and a half months away. One big standout, since 2021, Phillies got the NFL's best record against winning teams at 25 wins and 16 losses, a point. 610 winning percentage that tops everybody. Only the Chiefs and Bills are even over 500 against those squads. Now on defense, safety's a real question mark, with Marcus Epps and Drew McCuba projected at starters. Bulls were solid last year playing next to Reed Blankenship, but he's gone to Houston now. Without that vet anchor, can they hold it down? My need a rookie to step up big. Jalen hurts keep stacking feats. He's one of just six quarterbacks ever to lead five teams to the playoffs before turning 28. Meanwhile, Sequan Barkley at 29 faces long odds for another elite year, but with a healthier line, he could hit 1,500 yards. Devonta Smith's wild consistency shines too. First Eagle wide out with 800 receiving yards in each of his first five seasons.

1:04Trivia time, Eagles are the only team drafting three first team all pro corners in the last 25 years. Lido Shepard back in 2003, plus Kenyan Mitchell and Cooper Dijon last year. And they've had five Super Bowl MVP's on the roster, including Hurts, Foles, and even Joe Flackle briefly. All this has birds buzzing about contention again. Plenty of strengths, a few spots to watch, but that track record against winners says they're built for the fight. Catch the next op soon. Football news powered by AI. This is NFL News today.
