Kishon George and Paul Reed got tied up trying to secure a loose ball. There's some elbows swung between them both take exception. Anthony Davis and the Sar Thompson and up in each other's faces. And holding back George the Bans is yapping then there's some bumping along the sideline between Trey young Dennis Jenkins both tossed five total text in a preseason game. Wow. I did not enjoy this watch. I don't think any wizards fans may have enjoyed it. They won. But I this was. Look, sometimes you got to understand the assignment man. This is preseason. This is not this is not the regular season. We are not in the playoffs. To add on to the fights or not the let me say fights, but to the you know scuff. Yeah, to add on to that to add on to the technical files.

3:37Depistence filed the wizards 36 times in this game. 36 times. You know how many stoppers to play there were in this game like this game was horrible to watch. It was not good. Is there some type of beef between the between the wizards and the pistons? No, look, no, I the pistons just in the first quarter the wizard blitzed them. I thought Trey young Anthony Davis and AJ to ban so even out sorry that they all played really well in the first quarter and really blitzed the pistons. And then the second quarter on the pistons were like, okay, we're not that was bad. Let's go ahead and turn it out. Let's play active regular season. And then they just decided to start beating people up like that. That's like that the rest of the game. Trey young got ejected. I think that was a very bad ejection for him. I don't really know what he did to deserve an ejection. Like maybe a T. But then he got a second technical for just walking away while Danis was still messing with them. Like I don't know why he got ejected. Like, but look that was that made the watch a little bit rough, but I will say I thought the wizards in the few minutes we got to see of of a S.R. young,

4:46Bansa and Anthony Davis. I don't think Trey played the best in this game, but even so I can't say I didn't walk away intrigued. I was it was a little bit to be intrigued about especially early in this game watching these guys and Anthony Davis. I thought Anthony Davis was playing really hard in this game for it to be a preseason game. He was he was hustling for rebounds, hustling for loose balls. Like he was I didn't know he was even going to play. And then I saw him playing the same play that hard. I was like, oh, that's really cool to see. And I thought they showed some stuff to really make you excited for your wizards fan. Well, I'm sure 80's excited because I'm sure the team says that Alex are is the center on this team. He's the five. So 80 gets to be a four, whether he's actually the four or not, but that is his happy place, which I I love. I learned covering for 80 several years, which I enjoyed like I enjoyed covering 80's a good dude, but the center thing is kind of a strange cork of his. It's interesting. We're going to hear from Ben Strober from Lockdown Wizards in a second, but I think if you're Brian Keith, the Wizards coach, like the Wizards front office, obviously you it's important for your players to maintain their composure and to be pros out there and stuff like that.

5:59But this is also a brand new team with a lot of new faces, you know, Trey young and AD for all intents and purposes did not play for them last year at all. They got a new rookie in there. They're actually trying to win games as opposed to tanking. I I would think that again, you don't want this to become a regular thing, but probably enjoy seeing these guys like bond on the court that way and get each others back with everything they're looking to do this year. Yeah, look, the pistons, what the pistons do this is what they this is just who they are. They have their identity set now like you said the Wizards are trying to build one. So watch preseason. It doesn't matter. The games don't count, you know, things that happen within this game. Some people may not be taking this serious others like it felt like in this game. The Wizards very much were taking it very serious. And again, for a team like you mentioned that has been at the bottom of the league for quite a few years are trying to set a new identity and new culture with all these new players. I do think there are probably a lot of Wizards fans of walk away that was that would say, hey, this is fun to see that this team's trying to let the tone set the tone early. Let them know, hey, even preseason we want to set our identity and make it clear that this is a new time in Washington. This is the standard. So I'm sure they really enjoyed that.

7:12Yeah, especially to like Anthony Davis, I don't know how long he's going to be with the Wizards or how long he will want to be with this team long term. But there have been questions about whether he wants to be there at all. So seeing him out there, getting his teammates back, you know, like that quickly and going out with the Sar Thompson again. I would think that coach front office they don't want this to become a regular thing, but they're cool with seeing it one night in the preseason. Again, Wizards perspective here is Ben Strober from Lockdown Wizards. Preseason game number two, another win for the Washington Wizards this time in overtime against Detroit distance 114 to 108. The first quarter of this game, I thought was the story for this one. The way the Wizards were able to push in transition, dominate the pain, dominate and fast break points was really impressive. I think we've determined that this Wizards team is going to be at its best when they're playing in transition, playing with pace. He's all Ajay DeBozza taking a defensive rebound going coast to coast behind his back, making some of those special plays 14 points, seven rebounds per DeBozza.

8:21Trey Young didn't even have a single fuel goal until the third quarter of this game, but eight assists in the first quarter. Are we getting like a Steve Nash type of performance here nightly from Trey Young? It remains to be seen, but really like the way he was able to play make be one of the creators. Still some lapses, maybe in the half court offense 22 turnovers or excuse me, 20 turnovers tonight for the Wizards. So something to monitor, something to up to clean up, but good to see them pick up two wins here in the preseason. More game before the break who Trey Young's former team, the Atlanta Hawks, they eaked out of 111, 17 win over the Pacers. No Tyrese Halberton for Indiana, no Nikhil Alexander Walker for Atlanta, Jalen Johnson led the lead all Hawks scores and all scores period with 20 points as for the Pacers. It's here from Tony East locked on pace. Hello from the court of Gamer, fieldhouse Tony East here with locked on pastures with the Pacers just lost to the Atlanta Hawks 119 to 117 result quite frankly, not that important in the preseason. They had a shot at the end to tire when it.

9:25But their defense, not so great in this game, you have a 32 points per quarter for a 96 total in the first three quarters of this game. They were getting thumped in the possession battle Pacers did not grab a single offense of rebound. And this entire game, it's only happened like six times in NBA history, of course, is a preseason game, but they had way too many fouls turn over just a lot of little things that stack up to making a win impossible. And it was a strange game right away because Tyrese Halberton didn't play. He bumped his ankle and aims on Wednesday in the Pacers preseason opener. Tidya McConnell still not playing so a little bit out of whack rotations for the Pacers, but if it's a Zubats was much better punishing smaller Hawks bigs past Kasiakum was still quite good. Aaron Eastmith played well. Once again, the Pacers main guys have all been competitive and spirited in the preseason. That's what they need to see as they try to get back to winning. Well, much more on locked on Pacers. Not one offensive rebound. That's crazy. Like I was looking up their field goal percentage. They're 51% from the field of the Pacers, so you know shooting well, but they didn't shoot so well.

10:27That's like, well, there are no offensive rebounds to get. They were so that's insane. How many times you think that's happened in NBA history to go an entire NBA game? I believe Tony said like I think he said like five or six during the video. Like that you would think you just fall into one by accident. Yeah, that's that's incredible. I don't think I've ever seen it happen. I'll tell you this when when Kuka Hale gets on the court, you better believe there ain't going to be a game with no offensive rebounds. Who's going to get who's going to grab one just on principle? Well, I'm going to get shots up. So there's going to be a lot available. So that I know that that for sure will be true. That's how you do your part to make sure that your team doesn't do that. You just you just turn over suppression over here. I don't turn the ball over, but the shots get up. All right, there you go. 14:47Boston Celtics get the 40 point win here in their preseason home opener the sixers didn't play Jalen Brown didn't play the bronze James or John bead so a little bit of a lot sided affair with the Celtics playing most of their regulars Jason Tatum. I think was the big story because Jason Tatum look like Jason Tatum and he had a really nice game overall scoring he rebounded he passed the ball well he read the floor well played defense he did everything that Jason Tatum does at a very high level so right away we got our answer how would Jason Tatum look as he started the season off of that Achilles recovery obviously we saw him in the playoffs but to see him out here like this was very encouraging. So I've got some encouraging play from Paul George who didn't shoot well but played great defense had five steals Derek White looked good Peyton Pritchard look good overall just a very positive game not something you want to over react to but just when you win by 40 at home and your superstar that you have some questions about health wise looks like his superstar then it's all good so I have a whole lot more on a bonus locked on Celtics podcast.

16:04What do you think can be reasonably expected from Paul George this year and how critical do you think he is for the Celtics look I am very high on the Celtics this year I think they're going to be very very good I think they could make the finals this year I like I think they're going to be incredible yeah I think they're going to be incredible team this year I don't I don't I've said this to John we've talked about in locked on gay night on Tuesdays I don't really understand why people think they're going to take this big step back like they lost Jalen Brown but like they're basically swap Brown for Jason Tatum who I think is better. And then they added Paul George and Mitchell Robinson like I know like the deal itself between Paul George and Jalen Brown people have been very critical of but if you look at the roster compared to last year you're really just losing Jalen Brown adding Jason Tatum Paul George and Mitchell Robinson it's not like they lost everybody so I think this seems going to be very good I'm especially I think Derek white scaring get back to shooting a little better last year he had a very down shooting season. And I think Jason Tam could be a MVP candidate this year I'm really high on Tatum but when it comes to Paul George I think even watching this game and I think we'll see throughout the year.

17:05Tatum and Jalen Brown obviously fit together they won a championship they add major success deep into the playoffs they obviously fit together. But I think Jason Tam and Paul George it's just it's a very seamless fit that you could very much see even just into night's game I feel like Paul George plays the exact type of brand that maybe Joe and Bragg Stevens were kind of looking for as they were moving on from Jalen Brown. College George doesn't need to be a high usage on ball guy he's a guy will take a bunch of threes he's still a very good defender on the defensive side of the ball obviously very lengthy has a Thleses and still can guard up guard down like he he is like the predatory typical two way three and D guy except I honestly think Paul George was nowhere near as bad as some people maybe I thought I don't know if a lot of people really paid attention to Paul George. Last year because he was hurt for so long and then obviously the sixers didn't have a deep run of the playoffs. He's not what part George used to be not not even you know not close to that but he's still a very very good basketball player like he is a very very good impactful player still.

18:09So I think that seems to be very good this year I thought what you saw from them tonight even though they didn't shoot the best he shot two of seven from three I don't think anyone expects to shoot two of seven from three every night. But just seeing the process of it I think you can see that okay I see how this fits together I see how they seamlessly can count play together. I actually thought was really interested to be paying pressure coming off the bench I was wondering if they would if he would start this year or if he would come off the bench. I don't know if this is a one game thing or something they just test now or if he's actually going to be a bench player again I was interested to see that but yeah I think Paul George can be very critical I think he's going to be really good for them I think they're going to be really good. Yeah I mean I think what's going to be really interesting with the Celtics you name Paul George and also Mitchell Robinson as the two guys subbed in how healthy can those guys stay like how available will they be for Boston because they're available then yeah you may be right that there's not much of a step back but you know whatever you think of Jalen Brown that guy is typically their game in game out and that that in and of itself was a big reason the Boston surprised a lot last year.

19:14The Kings and Warriors Warriors win 11106. Yaxel Londonberg 23 points. 23 points 10 rebounds 6 assists 2 blocks. I don't recall who the last time a rookie with these golden state wars seemed as ready to contribute at a high level with this much trust from Steve Kerr and Steph Curry, Dremon Green like they are all bought into Yaxel as is Charlie Walther from Lockdown. Yo Yaxel and the board is a legit talent he had 20 points 8 rebounds in the first half he scored like 15 seconds into the game flashing down the lane slamming at home finished with nearly a triple double of 23 points 10 rebounds 6 assists he was 10 of 14 from the floor once again just made it looks so easy getting to the rim bully Zach Levine I think my favorite play of the entire night was with about 30 seconds left in the first half he's walking around the corner.

20:16He's walking the ball slowly up the floor and Steve Kerr kind of points out hey look at the spacing right now in the lane that's open for you. Yaxel I don't know if you want with the Jordan tongue but the big guys go up and he starts sprinting down the lane all the way to the bucket maybe got the N1 there but honestly lost track because there were like three where he muscled in an ones he was so damn good the best player on the floor. He plays like Paulo Bancaro they were saying it on the broadcast and I think he's going to be better than Paulo Bancaro I said it this guy can shoot he can just finish around the rim he's a gamer he's smart and you saw him run the point guard today which makes the Warriors offense very potent when he's running the point guard and grabbing 10 rebounds for game Yaxel and the board was the right pick at 11 this guy is so so impressive. I could the rookie of the year projections there very centered around the top four draft fix a debonza boozer Caleb Wilson and there Peterson do you think there's any chance that yaxel could end up getting himself in that mix just because like he's not going to be the number one option on on the Warriors but he's going to have an opportunity to put up numbers because especially Jimmy bought.

21:40He's especially Jimmy Butler hurt most moody hurt Christophe's for Zingus out for the foreseeable future like there's not anybody else on the team who really puts up like big gaudy stat lines at all like I didn't even thought about this before but I'm wondering if he actually could be more of a sneaky pick for this than people may realize. I listen first of all you of them go blue go good stuff the actual second of all yaxel is incredible I this is who I want the pistons of draft I want to betrayed up for them they had interest in them this guy is really good the fact that he fell because of his age and some of maybe some questioning of is he mature enough for his age. What he does on the basketball court he is an all around demon he can do everything it's probably was definitely telling the truth he can dribble he can pass he's a high feel basketball player he can shoot he can finish he can defend he has size he's athletic he can do everything he is he is he is going to be an incredible basketball player I know some people maybe thought you know oh maybe he's near ceiling because of how old he is his ceilings going to be pretty good he might already if he's already close it there he's going to be like already pretty damn good so.

22:50As long as golden state plays him enough minutes which I think they're going to I think they realize they have something special here yes is there a play though I mean who else do they have to play this team is really shallow and they're missing a few guys like they don't have a lot of guys it's like Stefan Dremon who also you really think it maybe pods like that you have to play more than the axel I mean look I think I think he's going to play a ton for them I think he's going to play a lot of games. I think he's going to be incredible for them I definitely think he could win the year I don't know if I say the favorite because I really like Cam too but I if you told me at the end of the year yaksal won the year I am not shocked at all and to what Charlie said about Paulo Bencaro listen this is coming from someone who's not a big palo Bencaro person I think yaksal will be better than Paulo I agree with that he's a good he's a great I think he's going to be a really good shooter I think he'll be a better shooter than Paulo and he's a great furniture he's a high feel passer I yaksal.

23:50I think from a pierce talent if we just remove age he should have been top five six in the draft like he is incredible. All right, who unfortunately the other side of this warriors Kings game the positive I guess there's a positive and a negative the positive was Ben Simmons remember him he made his return to the NBA preseason debut seven points and nine minutes and like that Ben Simmons was even looking to score could be considered.

26:16Yes, that's a big meeting. I don't know how many he hit of those over the course of his career but could not have been that many and look all jokes aside I'm rooting for Ben Simmons to get his career back on track to I mean he's it's easy to forget now his first couple seasons and the league that dude was really good like he was a special prospect man yeah and you know there was a lot that went on that led to him eventually out of the league but it would be cool. It if Simmons really managed to get like a second win in the NBA that being awesome story unfortunately less awesome second year center maximum Renault suffered a knee injury while setting a screen had to be taken out in a wheelchair. There's no word yet as to the extent but obviously not a good development for SACTO here is James Ham from locked on Kings to get into more of this.

27:20The Sacramento Kings fall to 0 and 3 on the preseason dropping another game this one 111 to 106 to the Golden State Warriors but that was just a very small part of the news today first and foremost it this should have been all about Ben Simmons return to the NBA after more than a year away he played well he looked very good physically. King Murray turned as well he also played solid basketball in a very short stent on the court after offseason ankle surgery but all eyes in Sacramento are on Maxine Renault the 7 foot 1 center out of France went down and heap with a right knee injury and it did not look good we're going to have to wait for the MRI but Kings fans are holding their breath hoping that Max Ray no will not miss considerable time doesn't. I mean especially if you're Kingsman and if we're being honest there ain't going to be much fun with your season coming up like I the Lakers have seen the Kings twice in the preseason they're not a good team at all but Renault was a fun player to root for his intriguing prospect it would suck if he's going to be out for a while on a bunch of different levels.

28:41Yeah look when I first saw the injury like I thought it was and even still watching it back I kind of don't really know. It looked like it was contact to contact and usually and again not I'm not doctor anything obviously but usually like contact means okay you're like you take a side really feel like okay it's they couldn't be it because the non-contact ones when you're like okay that could be that's going to be really bad but as soon as he like and maybe it was a little bit I don't know. But as soon as it happened he was screaming in pain like he was noticeably in a ton of pain so that was not good to see like you mentioned he did it will chair it off as well he couldn't put any weight on it not good to see not at all like no one wants this to be a long term injury he did have an intriguing rookie season yeah I was intriguing offensive talent to yes. And like you mentioned for a team like Sacramento you need all the intriguing young players need to have all your young players kind of develop and give everyone the possible chance. You can give them to kind give you a future and he was one of them so to see him go down definitely is disappointing for them so hopefully it's not as serious as it looked as not serious as maybe as it looked for him pain pain wise.

29:49But definitely in a game again like James mentioned it was a feel like Ben Simmons returned to look good there is a cuff had 25 points and 15 shots he looked really 25 and 8. There are some good things to take away from this and unfortunately that had to happen so we're hoping that nothing you know it's nothing serious but that sucks to see. Few more games around the league to take a look at spur suns suns get a 102 98 win over San Antonio 13 7 and 6 for Wembee Dylan Harper starting interesting 15 points and 4 assists and for Phoenix former Laker and former piston Luke can art 20 points second year center common Malay watch 10 points 15 rebounds he's going to have a chance I think who to grow this season with unfortunately Mark Williams sideline for these 3s 2. Yeah he played the pistons and he was taking 3s in that game too he made one tonight. Yeah, my watch had a terrific summer league and I know Phoenix has been high on I mean they must have been because they drafted him despite bringing over Mark Williams in the same off season for more on the game here is Ben Garcia from locked on suns.

31:05The Phoenix suns defeat the San Antonio Spurs in their first home preseason game 102 98 Benjamin Garcia locked on Phoenix suns few things to touch on the first thing I'll say is I won't say the suns have the San Antonio Spurs number because that's not a fair thing to say especially in the preseason but I will say they do not fear this team last year they split that season series 2 to 2 against them and I almost wonder if kind of similar to the Spurs last year struggling with the next team who is uber physical this Phoenix suns team I feel like thinks that they can just kind of push the Spurs around a little bit dare I say they might think that they're a little bit of a softer more. Finesse basketball team but outside of that Devin Bogart didn't play tonight in Jalen Green had to go out of point Jalen which is what the suns are going to ask him to be this year and kind of be the offensive engine and he did that really well 7 for 12 tonight 5 assists had a couple of turnovers going to need to you know clean those things up no Devin Bogart tonight no miles bridges tonight I will say that this race between oh so and come on mullowatch for the starting center position. You kind of want your 10th overall pick who basically had a red shirt year last year run away with it doesn't seem like the case it feels like it's going to be osos job despite come on mullowatch starting tonight I did like some of the things that I did see from come on mullowatch had some nice plays against Wembee but overall look canard hey shootin 10 3 pointers tonight that's something we wanted to see pregame a guy that started tonight the suns need him to shoot a lot of threes because they're 3 point shooting not great and so you like that you saw him get a little trigger happy today even if you only made 4 of them but that's all it is for me.

32:26Suns 102 98 beat the spurs. Couple more games coup the timbrewolves eaked out of 125 124 win over the Miami Heat the biggest players on both sides sat no ant no yonness no bam no lamello no root of get go bear down the line but two young wolves stat line caught my attention this game. Yohan bear and you're 10.7 rebounds for blocks then taren shannon junior 19 points on 8 of 16 shooting plus 6 rebounds for sis bear and Shannon I think are going to be counted on a lot for Minnesota this year having having traded out Julius Randall and Nas read you're losing size you're losing production I think there is going to be not just real opportunities for those guys but real necessity for them to perform.
