Smoke Fatima. The quality, king-sized cigarette. Best of all, long cigarette. Dragnet. The documented drama of an actual crime. For the next 30 minutes in cooperation with the Los Angeles Police Department, you will travel step by step on the side of the law through an actual case from official police file. From beginning to end, from crime to punishment, dragnet is the story of your police force in action. It was Monday, February 17, in the green in Los Angeles. We were working the day watch out of homicide detail. My partner's Ben Romero, the boss's dad Brown, chief of detectives. My name's Friday. There was 418 PM and we got to room 26, chief of detectives offered. Come on in, man. You have a seat. Do you close the door, Ronnie? Yes, sir. Captain Steve, charge of Romero, charge in Friday.

Mike, I have a meet special agent, Ray Campbell, public utility commission. I have a meeting with him. Mr. Trudeau. How did you do? Trudeau. All right. Mr. Campbell and Mr. Trudeau here have some important information to give us. Trudeau, would you like to repeat for these officers, which you told us a few moments ago? Yes, sir. Well, our friend of mine wants me to kill his wife, fond. I'm convinced he means to go through with the thing. Naturally, he goes without saying it's Kimber here, old back at the baran city of Astoria. Mr. Trudeau, who is your friend? How long have you known him? His name's Charles Stone. Yes, maybe a herd of them on the string of warehouses around town. I used to work for him last night. Well, the other day he called me and asked me if I was working and told him no. And he asked me to meet him in front of the public library. That was last Saturday afternoon. Did you mean? Yes, I did. And he took me to a bar in the neighborhood started telling me all about his troubles at home. Said his wife was stepping out on him, running around with other men. Well, we had quite a few drinks and I guess I thought that's what it kind of felt. Once that institute of Pauline Togman, he said, here's the dough.

The wife and I hadn't been getting along well at all for about a year. She's stepping out with some other guy on me and said, make a long story short. Well, that's when he told me. He said, I want to lose it. What do you say? Well, I told him I didn't quite get the drift of the thing. And he said, I want my wife killed. I'll pay a thousand dollars for the job. Mr. Trudeau, have you any idea why he contacted you on this thing? Well, I don't know other than the fact that I hadn't been able to work for some time. He knew I needed the money for the badly. As soon as I was sure he was about to get him about the murder. I told him that the Kimberl here is an old friend of mine. Said the only thing to do with the ticket to the police. Did this Mr. Stone make this proposition the more than once? Yes, he did. He kept reminding me how much I could use a thousand dollars. All I could say was that I knew his wife too well. I couldn't do it. Who did Stone say that? That I had cold feet. Told me I was just like another man. He's lined up to kill his wife. So if I didn't want the job, he'd get someone else to do it.

Do you think he might go for a substitute, Mr. Trudeau? What if I'm in? I don't know. She's only one thing I'm sure of. Yes, sir. He wants his wife dead. 442 PM, a meeting in the chief of the detective's office went on. A man with an image of a child's stone one day's wife murdered. He'd offer a thousand dollars for a death. He'd approach two men to do the job, both of the refused. From the information we'd received, we nearly wouldn't stop there. There were a lot of people who'd killed for a thousand dollars. It was only a matter of time to leave found one. The plan was formulated and ben and I were assigned to the case. 5PM, together with Captain Steve and Mr. Trudeau, where that bad brown's office went down the hall to homicide. And your last meeting with Stone, Mr. Trudeau, you refused out right to have anything to do with this plan to have his wife murdered. That right? That's right. Did you leave any opening at all? Well, just to get away from it, I told him if I had heard of anybody, that'd do the job, I'd let him know. He thinks that maybe he'd listen to you if you went back and suggested to somebody. I don't know. He'd listen to me, but he's no dummy.

He's got to understand that. He's going to be careful. Which one of you is going to play the killer? That's right, given. He was going to fit the part best. Trudeau just told you the Charles Stone's no push over. I didn't know Captain Smith's office is here. Me? Yeah, I know, thanks, but I sure will take you for a cop. You would, right? I don't know. He just looked like one, I guess. Well, Joe is a little closer to average hike, wait. Yeah, that's what I mean, Captain. He doesn't look like a cop. All right. Now, Mr. Trudeau, you're willing to go along with this on this thing? Certainly, Captain. Anything I can do, you'll just tell me what you want. Well, just as soon as possible, we'd like to have you contact Mr. Stone. You'll know how to approach him, so it's not to make this suspicious. Yes, I think I can do that. Joe, how do you want to go about this? I better use some kind of an alias. Let's see you. Maxon. Joe, Maxon. How about Kelly? Just playing Kelly? Finally. Good. Now, how about your background? I'm going to get that straight with Mr. Trudeau here. Well, it's both I tell him I'm from Phoenix, huh? I know that town pretty well. He might ask me some questions about it. Okay.

Uh, did you happen to know Trudeau, the Army? Did you ever serve the Army? Yes, I thought he'd do it to the flutty-futty-futty. It's the FBI. All right. We served together in the Army, huh? Let's make it to China. What? I'm asked to call. All right. And now, Mr. Trudeau, this is all you'll have to do. Set up a meeting with Stone as soon as possible. It was Friday as the man has willing to do the job for him. Now, hold on to me, friend. And step out of the picture as quickly as you can. All right, Captain, I understand. And it goes without saying. We certainly appreciate your cooperation. And not at all. So, I'm willing to land. To help out. I'm probably saved that woman's last. I wish I could be sure. Not at mean Trudeau. Last time I saw Charlie Stone a three days ago. Maybe he's hired somebody else. Five thirty p.m., Captain Steve ordered two things of men from homicide to watch Charles Stone's wife knelted and show further notice. For her own protection, keep me kept under 24 hours of violence without her knowledge. We checked the I bureau to see what we could find on Charles Stone. He owned a gun, a thirty-two Smith and Wessonley vovers. That's all we found.

He had no criminal record. We know they're more than we as a social figure from a prominent family. Supposedly he was happily married. He owned and operated a chain of six warehouses, draw lots and with his business reputation was good. Captain Steve ordered that Charles Stone also be placed under 24 hours of violence immediately. He would be kept under watch without his knowledge. Ben Romero and Dylan Tienus were one of the teams that signed a chain. The next morning I checked in for work at the usual time. At 10 p.m., I left Captain Steve's office and went into the bathroom. I'm a side party. This is Mr. Trudeau's saggend. I saw Charlie Stone a few minutes ago. Yes, sir, how to go? We talked about twenty minutes. I told him you might be going to do the job. What do you say? He wants to meet you. Before he hung up Trudeau told me that Charles Stone would meet at that night in Section B in the Grand Stands at the Midget All-Races on New Santa Monica. I informed Captain Steve to the development and then I left the office, went home, put away my gun and all my identification and changed into mold clothes. I boarded a bus and rode back downtown to the Skid Row area where I

rindled a single room in the Cheap Oak Valley signed to register Jay Kelly, Phoenix, Arizona. 5.30 p.m., I went to Cokins Cafe in the corner of South Maine and to Tele Street. Captain Steve was waiting for me in one of the rear booths. Hi. Hi. He looks like a rull set. Hello, hello. I'll fit strike you, okay? You fine? I know, leather jacket's a good touch. Oh, I better let your beard grow a little. You all right? I rented a room in one of the hotels down here. I could use a little expense money. Glad you said a little. All right, I'll fix it up for you. Here's the phone number of the hotel in case you want to contact me. Good. One thing that's got me a little worried is coming. The legal angle. Well, I guess we'll get pretty close to entrapment in cases like this. Nothing to worry about. You just play it straight down the line. Yeah. The idea for the crime has to originate in the mind of the criminal. It's got to be all his idea. You just go along with him. Okay. Be sure and keep this posted. Yeah, so we'll murder this wife needs a lot to stone.

He wouldn't want anybody getting his way. Yeah, be careful. That night I had been at with Pluto on a cafeteria on South Wales. And then we caught a bus road out to the stadium where they held a megawd all the way. We found the feet for 12 solar tomatoes, numbers 4 and 5, road 27. It's actually the main branch. The operates are started. A 10 minutes pantheon, 12 solar rice. It looks like an average process. There's this man well dressed, New England those star care. It's sort of huge, it's great. Pluto introduced it and then he left. Well, you're from Kelly. Betty, life's mentioned auto-races. It's not like you're here. Pluto is just a little bit out of job. Yeah. You have to tell your lawyer to bomb. Yeah. You have to handle anything like this before. I'd be a sucker to have to that one with night. I just want to know if you're going to handle it. You should have told me about it. I wouldn't be here if I couldn't handle it. You had a good job. I'd never be judged on a right. What are you looking for, references? You had a big careful, I saw.

What about me? I don't know you from Adam. I don't know if it won't be a double clock. I don't know if I was double clock. That's still a long-dran thing. Get away from the problem. Why would you name it? You haven't said anything about money yet. It's only a time to ask money. Like you know, how much you want. Pluto said it's thousands. Yeah. Why should you get it? When would you want it? Before. I'd be adult to do the job, but I'd get it paid first. I have a justice deal with it, give it to your first. Say, uh, you buy your heart, don't you, soldier? Okay. Can I? Yeah. One hot dog, couple of rupees. One dog, three rupees. You like rupees? Good. How about selling on the door, huh? You do the job, you get paid. You can ask Pluto, okay, right? Let me tell you I keep my words. Well, it's gotta go fast, that's all. I may have a job lined up with Pillow. I'm not a Pillow. I'm not a Pillow. I'm not a Pillow. I'm not a Pillow. I'm not a Pillow. I'm not a Pillow. I'm not a Pillow. I'm not a Pillow. I'm not a Pillow. I'm not a Pillow. I'm not a Pillow. I may have a job lined up with Pillow.

I gotta get that dough into new clothes, gonna put up some kind of a fun. I need the dough fast, no way. You'll get some money. We can work out something. My job's to be in Florida, unless you're on the side of it. Yeah. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. You move over there, out of way. Thanks, sir. Well, yes. Right. How do you want it done? All the things? Have we got them on the lamp? Have we got one? No, I don't know. Couldn't use it again, anyway, too much noise. I'll make up your mind. I mean, tomorrow night. We can talk about it, then. I'm not making a clear out of this one job. What are you worrying about? We're sitting up tomorrow night. But how about 10 bucks on the clock? I gotta live on flat. Hmm? Next 5? You gotta do it. All right. How about 10 bucks on the clock? I gotta live on flat. Hmm? Next 5? You gotta do it. All right. How about that pay off, $1,000? How do we bet that?

We can talk about that, man. I can't be talking. Oh, look, Stone. I don't think I like your attitude. You haven't told me how you want the job. Down you talk too every time to pay off, making sure you do this. Tell me what easy nothing I'm taking, I think. I know I'm gonna get paid. I know I know you're telling. Before I left Stone, we'd get up a meeting for the following 98 o'clock. I caught a bus and went back to hotel room. So far, I'd been unable to get any other corroborated evidence on Stone, evidence specifically that it'd be court. The next morning, I called the office to get them posted on development. I had my nails at a lunch counter next door to the hotel, and I stuck pretty close to my room. At 2.30, I had afternoonly damn calls. We tailed Stone to the Mickey Dora Regis last night. You're doing good? Not bad. Going a little slow though. We're tailed in after that year. We dropped to the Beverly Hills at the spot. Thought he looked in the ground below. Yeah, he probably went to the Regis to see the Howard. He stayed in the fort this morning. Checked the Hound Trail after the Secretary of the Stone's warehouse.

Maybe that explains why he still wants to get rid of his wife, huh? There's one more thing. We're tailing to a gunshot this morning. Board of cup of things, and after he's gone, we check with the store truck. To the Stone, board about to share 32 count of them. I'm kind of getting headregistered in the 32-S and W. Yeah. That's funny. Someone told me there's no one again. This one looked too good when I bought it. All right, now let's don't start worrying. Don't truck in my times with the old show. All right. You want to check me later on? I gotta keep this line open. Yeah, all right. See you later. Bye. Yeah. Yeah. Jobs are all set up. Ready to go. Well, four nights. You are listening to Dragnet, the case history of a police investigation presented in the public interest by Fatima Seguret. If you smoke a long cigarette, it will be in your interest to listen to a typical king's history of a Fatima Smote.

It's the case of New York Covergirl Rita Diggle. This is her actual sign statement. I find Fatima different from other long cigarettes. They cost the same, but in Fatima, the difference is quality and they're extra miles. You see Fatima is the quality king-sized cigarette because it contains the finest turkey syndromesic to battles to purply blend it. And Fatima is extra miles with a much different, much better flavor in the Roma than any other long cigarette. Because of its quality, its extra miles is the better flavor in the Roma, Fatima has more than doubled its Smote's coast to coast. So enjoy king-sized Fatima yourself. You will find king-sized Fatima different from other long cigarettes. They cost the same, but in Fatima, the difference is quality. You know, in Fatima, the difference is quality. Ask your dealers for Fatima. The quality king-sized cigarette, best of all, long cigarette. Start enjoying Fatima tomorrow. Get out.

When is he February 19, 1865, 3M? Charles Stone taking up a miscar to cornered Alameda in 6M. He turned on the top Broadway and he headed down to the beach in Hunts over the river to be drove. I kept wondering how I was going to spin him down. He was less than 24 hours away from the scheduled measure of his life and I still didn't have a piece again. So many turned up in court. He failed to produce the chicken evidence tonight. I don't know how good he was going to be, but he succeeded in having his life killed enough. I also had no idea what plans his suspect had made before he hired me to be a villain. So he had a definite possibility of my revenge for somebody else who commits the actual measure and then set up a double-cross to be in a position. So Louis had a 32-watt-and-w revolver with his name, but he denied the name even known again. 903-3M was sold up to Charles Stone's beat house. I must be out at home, down here at the same place. People don't start moving in with Christmas. But he said he was feeling a little bit sick. If someone was letting up the next block or in a court, not to be careful.

He's coming in. He's a fun guy to be sitting with him. Well, I know how to work. He'd go ahead and help me. A little room, huh? Yeah, another room's over here. I'll show you this. What is this? Well, what's this for? What do I start? I want to have to be here about 6 o'clock tomorrow night so we can come down alone and get the house ready for weekend party. What do you want Louis? My four-and-a-half-hands. Here. Here's a key to come to. Better pick it up a little earlier. Okay? Where's the new unit that's here? It's going to be a bedroom, a little bit. I've got it in here. I can better read it. Yeah. And then here, I'm not letting you go. Let's draw a table covered.

And inside, I'll go to the room. Wait, my table is all over the room. I think you're there. Okay, I'll draw the room. Just find a game that's draw, remember that. All right. I see now, oh yeah, I'm saying it's called. You see this guy, I said it's happy. Didn't have any color. Well, I'll put the room to put a little room. It's a little slippery. It won't be worth a love zone. You know, it's very strong. Didn't have any color. I think I need a little game problem. I think he's going to be all over. I think. Where am I supposed to hide? He's so young. Yeah, I'm not a fun dog. It's closet. Yeah. Well, I've come to the end of the closet. The door is just probably going to go back to the bedroom and take off the coat. Follow them and you go fast for them that time. Most of them never might be there.

All right. I'm going to clean and cry. I do it just quickly as you can. No. When the finished is what I want you to do with it, what's that? It's about anything at this length. Yeah, I want you to see. Oh. I'm going to have to let the room know these things go. I'm going to put the room in the bathroom. There's a body out here on the porch. There's no room. I want you to go to the screen. Yeah, I love that. Take it out on the floor. It's just the regular riding area here. Actually, it's right in the porch, you understand? All the way down to the end of the porch here. I don't get it, but I get it. All right, let's go back inside. So I move to get the layout of it. I've just dropped four plans for you. I don't want to get mixed up here. No, let's say we're on a dead state. You can drop yourself in for at least. Right? It's a little bit of a trouble. Yeah, it's all you've taken. And I love it.

Yeah. After you finish using the rope and then go. You're starting to move in the right fingers. You can know all the big settings. I'll be a bassist on a left wrist. It's just so... What I do is... I'm going to try to go from the middle here, or in the end of the bass. I'll make some of the range there. How about a little bail? You'll see, right? You'll pick up my door at the time. I'll put it in the bass. And that's um... I'll be going back downtown. I'll pick up for the next night. You'll need a seven-day shot. Never mind if we're in. So we're going to be a perfect call. And I have to tell them myself. I'll stay on the piano for a special conference. I don't know. I don't have a lot of this. What do you mean, don't I? First, I was going to have a little protective. I feel a lot better with a guy. I don't have a guy in the game. Why would you want to win anyway? I feel a lot better. So, I want to do what I deserve. I told you when I got a son, you get to my name. Because you're feeling something about a mixture of no mistakes here.

Don't worry, you can keep going. You're sure to have to like. Let's tell you what you think of. You can ask anybody about your life. Before I left the show, I got one more valuable piece of evidence out of the special phone number. Littling in his hands, I had a back at one of his business cards. You see, something went wrong. I was just calling this his number. When he was on hand, letting an officer got a list of times that I was supposed to remember. When he came to the house, when to leave, when to meet him for the payoff. The next day, I had to move a 2.30 out of the hotel and drove my car out to Venice to stone with these times. I got to see him another officer from homicide following me out. The ladies in the house together. Probably before 6pm, Mrs. Nolz is still alive with their family going to the house. She refused to believe the story of her husband, watched her have her murdered. I got to see her laid out the evidence for it. She was famous as stone you recognize it? I guess it's the one to tell to her, Mr. Charles. She gave it to this officer, Mrs. Stone, the man who was supposed to murder him. No, don't believe it. You have an idea of what's the left side of the land that we know the best? There's nothing in there.

I came without the last time I was here. I came without all the cards. I like joking, man. She's alone? I never thought that's what she's for. This is Stone with everything. It's supposed to be the murder weapon. Just one more point, man. Over here, please. You know what's in this story, is it? Uncle, you have to be looking out the window in there. One is going to move down to the center, man. Go. There's a husband, gold, blood. That right now? Who's that? The little girl. She saw. I was supposed to wear them while I was in the house, but when we think about it. Do you remember the dance you did on it? Oh, yeah. I'm sorry, Mrs. Stone, you know what you're talking about, but I don't know what you're talking about, but I think you realize you had to tell me. So, I'm sorry. You can go to hell and just say it by the end. And so I know that happened. You know that I'm better than you to keep it much better. You can take it easy when you just tell me.

I really miss it. Try the time I see you. Is there anything you can do for me? You want to have your mother, man? I know that I got to go to bed. Yes, ma'am. Then one thing, you don't have to try to go to hell. 6.45 pm. I tell a phone call, Stone and told him his job was done. His wife was murdered. The city's making a six-man-aluminum speech for the payoff as devil. I waited. The city had to fill up. A 7.30 pm, Stone was placed under arrest in the car she's trying in front of her identity scout. A loaded 32-calibre revolver was found in a tiny. We're taking back to the city hall to see that he catches off him. Then a man waited outside the open door to give her a sad brown, stuck in her vehicle on the side. You know what I hope we have you down here for me to come? I haven't had much of that idea. I was just saying if I told you your wife had been murdered, I think you were afraid of me. I was just saying if I told you to carry a kilo to her mother, you're telling me to stay with her? I've been at work all day, I can prove it. I try to convince her.

Do you want to meet your family, son? I've seen them on a good road. I don't know. Do you recognize them on your high, to tell you what? I don't know the men. I didn't tell them what. I don't understand all this. I was just going to make this film. It's the middle of the cellar you should tell. It sounds very tough, isn't it? Did you grow a brown line? I was just going to make this film. Both the older wife had been carelessly for the last couple of days, for the gas station, maybe the other races. It's an Alameda, Beverly Hills apartment. For you, you don't know what you're talking about. All right? Did you send the lady in the case? No, then. You don't believe all these things you're saying about, isn't it? There's a room, tell us. The basement here. I didn't realize how much the water came. I didn't know anything. I don't know what I was thinking about. I don't know, tell us. Don't let the car out now. What's that better than to know? We don't find space.

It looks like you're starting to toss. Not me. He tried to have her murder. He got to go after him. What's it called? He's home with no him. He's here. How about a cup of coffee? The story you were got to heard was cruel. Only the name of which I didn't know if it would take to be innocent. On May 2nd, I'll hotel in particular, of course, in 1989, city and county of Los Angeles, state of California. In a moment, the result of that trial. And now, here's our star, Jack Webb. He's here. To the working detective, the difference between the local innocence and the form of physical evidence, and the form of testimony gathered from reliable witnesses. To determine the innocence, that's the other innocence, the difference is actually proof. And when we compare the human with other long-siggered, that's the difference, the quality. The two of us are minor. You're a long-siggered, I can look like I am, most of whom are. You're a fine-siggered, different from other long-siggered,

a cost-examination, but in the pool, there's a difference in quality. That is you're a fine-siggered, that's a minor. The trial finds what's done, what's tried and convicted on soliciting the commission of a felony, two counts. You receive the sentence, first, described by law. You have just heard, the series of authentic cases from a physical fight. Technical advice comes from the author's chief of police W.H. Parkes, Los Angeles Police Department. But when we're cigarettes, the best of all, along the cigarettes, is brought to dragnets from Los Angeles. The first case of the case is the case of the police department. The first case of the case is the case of the police department. The first case of the case is the case of the police department. The first case is the case of the police department. The first case is the case of the police department. I've hoped you could bob on the air for justice. You'll have a key tonight to start your local paper for time and station help. And then, on the air for justice, you'll have a Wednesday night card. I've got a little seminar. I have to teach that a new boy to rule. Say, say, I think I told you to set a warn. You would need telling justice here this year.

You'll have to live a long life, and you'll keep up. It's one of you that any conversation will ever work. When we're in prison together, who always gets together? Which only backs up the old thing. Everybody loves a fat man. Here's the famous Christmas night. We do agree 100% on this. Testicles are milded. And they leave no unpleasant aftertaste. So always buy our cigarettes testicles. The best cigarettes for you to smoke. We're hoping cars be Tuesday. Next, we the people on NBC. Next, we the people on NBC.
