Hello and welcome to talk in baseball October is actually here. Phillies DED dead the Braves March on it's the ALDS preview. Let's talk ball and the NLDS. We're actually starting there because it's Friday. Ray Kurt. Jay Bruce. Ooh, I think Ray had him tonight. Hello, welcome to talking baseball presented by fanatics sports in casino.

If you're locking in your baseball bets, fanatics sports in casino is the place to do it. Winning hits different here. This is talking baseball. This is a DS preview. Almost hit none of it off the top because we're coming juicy off of the Phillies Braves finale as that tease up an amazing nationally division series will hop back over to the AL after to get that lined up on the West Coast getting nasty and calibacy. It's Trevor blue former Philly. You know, all this talk about technology. I've been dictating my notes watching the game that I can't even go back and read them because the words are just not right. So I think we're going to be okay as humans. I don't know. Was your phone people used to have that as a job? But do they still? I think in courtrooms, right? I guess I guess on the I guess on the big cases. I have to feel like the smaller cases we got. Some of us got a robot doing that. I don't know. Was your phone? Maybe your phone picked up the right words.

It was just getting whatever Kruck was saying because halfway through that game, Johnny was tapping out the dynamic between Joey Vato and Kruck is just unmatched. Genuinely felt like they were speaking different languages at a couple points. And in a way, it kind of worked like Vato and Kruck were both entertaining. Nikowski kind of like, I'm here. I don't know. Give me Peter Moilin in that booth. No offense. CJ. Could you imagine Moilin, Kruck and Vato? I all respect to you, Trevor. I'm talking about for these teams. When the twins play the Yankees, it's you, Joe's. We'll figure that out later. Let's talk, ball, because we're going to preview the DS. This is going to be the episode that we let ride for a little bit. So we can enjoy our Friday and Saturdays, at least. And we're going to go through Braves, Phillies, Quick. And I think that's going to segue quickly into, by the way, the playoffs have been going.

Dodgers have played yet. And it just, it might be their dance again. So let the Brewers have. Have. Yes, Trevor. The race. The guard dogs. Chris. I forgot about them. I truly did. We won on this show until basically the end of the episode. Let's do the final game of the wild card. The postseason burns are presented by booking.com, booking. Yeah, an official travel partner of the MLB. It's the best words in sports game three. Deciding the wild card series and the NLBs, the Atlanta Braves in the Phillies. His name is no. And no, no, as Aaron tries to drag the Phillies into the division series. While. Oh, Kerr Ray Kerr.

Taken the bump as an opener or is he 3.1? One hit zero earn runs from Ray Kerr to the mighty Phillies. And on the other side in the first inning, Michael Harris drops the doose for three. Three nothing Phillies after one. Make it five as Albies goes fishing for two more. Woo, woo, five. Oh Atlanta. Alex tries to have a moment. It's not enough. Matt Olson sends another one into the night sky and sends the Atlanta Braves into the DS behind the slender man. Chris sale out of the bullpen. Kerr home Suarez went to Dodden sale. Atlanta wins six to five. Thanks to our partners at booking.com. Megan it easy for baseball fans to get where they want to be booking.com booking.

Yeah, an official travel partner of MLB major league baseball trademarks used with permission. Coach Treff. I think a lot, a lot of this discussion and we are going to try to get through it quick. Cause you want this to be more of a preview episode. A lot of the discussion will be about Aeronola and starting him when you have Zach Wheeler ready to go. And there was some discussion on that about the broadcast. But I think first before we get to that, it's like snaps for the brace for showing it. For getting it done. Michael Harris do so hit who hit into two double plays last night. Big situations. It comes up in a spot. It's a ball down and in drives one of the park. Beautiful. Three run lead. The game felt over right there. I know it's not. I know it's not because there's some guys on the the Phillies that can turn the game with one spring as well. But that momentum three runs in the first inning. That feels that feels really good. If you're the braze. And as you mentioned, Curry came out and did it. I thought I like what they said on the broadcast about Kerr. And this is true for pretty much any opener.

You go until the batter say you can't go anymore. I kept saying that I'm like, that's, that's it. That's what an opener should be. It shouldn't be, hey, you got three batters or this. Like I don't know, man. Like if a guy comes out and looks good, I think you should probably leave them in. And like, you know, if you want to have a quick hook and especially in a game like this, I get it. But still trusting like Walt Wies trusting himself to say, okay, what I'm seeing is working. Let's let him continue to go out there. I think that was a big deal. Nice play that Marissue de Bon right here scoop by Matt Olson as well. Braze did a great job in the series. Yeah, a couple early hot shots. I mean, Albe's made a nice play, not a hot shot, but Grant Holmes. Bobbles one and it ends up in his paw that yeah, I mean, there was a couple times that the Phillies were looking for any juice and it got neutralized. And instantly, I mean, it's the Phillies. And again, this would be my clickbait video for them and the Cubs is that they lost their

wild card series a week and a half ago, like limping down the stretch, not being able to line up their pitching and not having these games at home. It was a lot of the difference. I, well, Cubs actually can't say that because they just got rolled. But like, it's part of that was because they didn't have their pitching setup. And neither did the Braves really and their guys perform today that yeah, I'm not as mad about the Wheeler thing. I mean, you probably should start him if you're willing to let him go 70 bullets, but it was short rest and I think you saw him wear down towards the end because he was going to wear down and then you probably had to go to Nola or they were out of bodies in Philly. Yeah, that's why I think that discussion is interesting because I do think that the Phillies were understanding that Nola and Wheeler were both going to have to pitch. They said in the broadcast that Nola's a guy that probably needs more time to get ready and is better off with the routine of a starter, whereas Wheeler could be out in the bullpen. They felt like he could do a better job adjusting to that role. And you know, like every pitcher is different. Some guys can get ready in

and 10 throws and some guys need 20 or more. You know, like certain guys or guys that you can get up within, you know, a second and other guys, you have to be able to pace them out. It's just how it is. And so that's ultimately why I believe the Phillies did that. But again, I think more and more of this is about the Braves who made the plays when they needed to make them. Austin Riley in the first game, huge Homer. I think that Grant Holmes play right there. Instead of, you know, they're down, I believe at the time, there's three nothing. Instead of two runners on and a chance to tie the game, you get that out right there and that little plays like that where you kind of stymie whatever rallies about to come means something, especially in a short series like this. So, you know, Atlanta's awesome Chris sale coming out. I mean, I put all my age away for the night. I didn't, I didn't have any, I don't, I hadn't done left. Oh, tired coach. It came back out because I saw sale entering the game, getting warm out there in the bullpen. I love that. So, you know,

I actually want to talk about Philly and what's next, but at the same time, it's like, they're gone. Yeah, Atlanta's doing it. We've got, we might have a really long off season. There's a note of that during our live stream tonight that was horrifying. And I was laughing in a shout out Bill Simmons. It's pretty funny when they do playoff. His favorite thing to do is jump to like the team that's lost in their offseason plans. We might have time for that. We might have to start working in an end of year like funeral episode like Cubs Philly's things like that. We'll see. We'll see how it goes. But you're right. I don't think we should harp on right now that the Philly's have not one of winter take all games since 1980 or that in their last five post seasons and elimination games, they're scoring 1.4 runs per game. A 22 for 159 Dalton in his bag. But yeah, the Philly's your guy, Shelfie was streaming with him. He's, um, they've seen a lot of the same faces on the field for a few years now that there's again, a lot of

those faces are nice faces to see, but it's, um, I don't know. Our guy, Dumbrowski, I think he's got to get in the lab with the young guys and the old guys because you, uh, they feel like they need a little bit of a shake. Uh, and the Atlanta Braves move on. Uh, and I think it's time, Trev. I think we dive in, bro. I think it's, I think it's division series time and we'll keep rolling in with the Braves and, uh, good news, bad news for you, Atlanta. You won. Congratulations. You played yourself. Why don't you get on the plane head to Trev's LA and your face and the Dodgers. Uh, that's right. Has the post season even begun yet? I don't know. Uh, but the Braves, the four seed go out to LA. The Braves did win the season series five games to one. Go Trev. Remember that big sweep in Atlanta in August when they had to have it. Uh, they also played in May earlier this year of the Ha-Song Kim

walkoff him trying to earn any street cred with the fans of Atlanta. Freddie Freeman Trev. You might remember he before he was a Dodger. Uh, had some years in the ATL. Um, the Braves and how they're going to pitch again, we're not going to have a lot of the answers, but we can, we can dream. And then the Dodgers are arguably the story of this season, the story of this decade chasing the three Pete 14 straight post seasons, uh, and all the star power you know in the lineup, all the star power, you know, in the pitching, uh, Trev, where does it start for you, coach? I think it's, it is always been to go into a series like this when one team has rested up. I think the pitching is important. I don't see why the Braves don't kind of do what they did today like Rinsen repeat minus sale at the end of the game. So I think maybe we get Kerr to homes again for game one. Right? Like, does I feel like that's a possibility or some sort of the, a bullpen game opener, whatever it may be.

Hey, Walt Weiss, let's see how it goes. The batters will let you know. I'm stealing that. Whoever said that in the in the broadcast booth. I love it. Uh, and then you get Chris sale, Tyler Malley games two and three on four days rest. So, you know, the Dodgers are lining their guys up. This is going to be, you know, I think there's always the discussion of rest versus rust. I think it's changed over the years with what we kind of have to do. The Dodgers kind of have pioneered and maybe they haven't pioneered, but they'll always ever talk about it. Like going to the field every single day and like staying together for long periods of time during this break, like they don't want to break up the season. They don't want a taste of the offseason to leak in because they're locked in. Like they're still playing even though you have this little mini vacation. So I, I'm always very curious like who comes out hot like the Dodgers stumble out of the game. Dude, they don't do they, they're bats look wrong. Does the timing look off, especially facing a bullpen game where it's like, shit, like I got to face a bunch of different guys. I don't even really

know who to prepare for. That's always interesting to me, but we know there are, you know, one of the best rosters in all the baseball, it might not even matter because they're that good. Yeah, it seems like, I mean, on the pitching front, you're right. I think they try to muddy up the first game and get through it. I mean, today was sales throw day. He doesn't throw a ton of bullets and he's a freak. Like some guys are different. He's one of them. He throws two pitches from the weirdest arm angle in the in the game and it's worked since you were in the league coach. When he came in, that was awesome to see. Now, I'm excited to watch him navigate through this Dodgers lineup as well, but we're looking at for the Dodgers Yamamoto game one scoops game two snail game three back around the Yamamoto. I mean, look out. Yeah, it's it's unofficial and either way, it doesn't matter. I mean, it is scuba and Yamamoto switch. Well, honestly, Dodgers fans will kind of be mad. And I think I would be too because Yamamoto Yamamoto, that's his cousin. Yamamoto

and who he has been in the postseason. And yeah, I do think, and as part of the reason I like the braves because Philly was just limping in so hard. I mean, the Dodgers are just I mean, they're set up and they're set up like we're talking about the braves trying to muddy up game one and then hopefully Chris sale with an extra throw day in between can be Chris sale and you can still get innings from the bullpen against an amazing lineup. And then it's Mally and then figure it out and then miracle sale again. If you get to game five, I mean, this Dodgers pitching it's part of the reason like hitting hitting comes and goes. This is great analysis. Put me put me down in the sideline. What Yamamoto, scuba, snail, glass, now, Scott, well, actually Scott and Diaz have had a gone. Those guys I mentioned, they're going to give you a certain level of performance that is just tough to beat on any given night that the hitting comes and goes coach. That's what I was saying. It sounds like you're giving up on the braves already, which is crazy, dude. I'm not given

up on the braves. I think you're right. I do think is that series opens up. It's going to be very inch like a muddied up bullpen game can suck, dude. If you haven't played baseball in a week and you get one at bat against the different like Brent Soudres out in that pen, like Ray Kerr that we just saw that they're like they've got lefties. They've got righties. They can really muddy up the game that if they were to somehow do it and now sales stand in there with a chance to go home. But the other side of it is the braves could run in and they could run out of pitching real quick and look like how the fillies did today. Do you think like in football when you have a good practice squad or a good defense, you're going up against in the preseason like iron sharpened iron, right? I think so. Yes. Does that happen in like their live events? These guys are facing Yamamoto in between this series or are they facing Yamamoto? Like what did they do? I guess I haven't had my pulse on the Dodgers four days off. Yeah. I know they stayed together and they're at the field. They're definitely taking a line of the bats. But I'm interested in that. Like were they

standing in on these guys and what what kind of effect does that have? Because you're essentially facing like some of the best pitchers in baseball at your practice. That's got to make you better. Whatever that's interesting for me. Don't know if it's interesting for anybody else. Dodgers chasing a three-peat. I feel like that needs to be mentioned. A three-peat does not happen very often in this sport the first time since your yanks, 99 2000. They won three of the last six. Like they're already a dynasty but trying to really stamp their you know this organization on like the all-time great course. I guess you could say Mookie's got a freaking quote coming out today saying when I talk about my teammates. This is the team. I'm talking about like love my time in Boston but this is my team. I don't know man. 14 straight post seasons for them. 13 out of 14 years. They won the NL West. Sheesh. It's hard not to get excited about. There. Yeah. So okay. There's glass. Now we're just Freddie. There's now five innings for Runt says it says Dallin. So yeah. They're playing. I mean

Freddie's running. I would like to see that tack put down a little more aggressive. Who's the who is the Dodgers ballboy that was playing Welfield? He's still like with the team and he played college ball and he's kind of nice. I think he I think he was like a reds top pick. I made up that part. That was just I tell our I tell our bullpen catcher Frank all the time. Like you're a good looking guy. You should have the start and only fans like a catcher's only. He's just where that gear. Yeah. Frank's like is that the same thing you're talking about Frank's like get away from me. Pal. I don't think you did. I don't think I should say that out loud anymore. Yeah. No. It's a joke. People. It's a joke. We used to joke in this society. We really used to. There's yeah, we can't run through it all. I mean, there's so many different numbers because a lot of these guys are guys like you know, I mookie bets is in Chris sale 18 times 7 for 18. A lot of the Dodgers pictures. Some of these some of the guys have good numbers against scuba. Shocking Freddie Freeman's numbers against Chris sale just shocking bro. Five for 16.

Four of those hits for extra bases. Two doubles two homers. Hey, I know only one K. I know in this six sport. Everyone has their bugaboo's. I mean, seeing Bryce Harper like a Hall of Famer and seeing what Chris sale is able to do to him and some of those stats. Yeah, it's going to be fun. And yeah, I think there's a it'll be interested to see if the Dodgers feel pressure because I don't think they will. The pressure is off the Dodgers, dude. Yeah. They've gone back to back titles. I know. I know. But they they want. It sounds dumb. They obviously want it. And yeah, I wonder if you do see, you know, if the Braves have to kind of punt game one to go for a game too. And then the off day and the other thing we'll get to with the ale. The ale has the extra off day. They've been doing every other year with NL and ale. So like a cup. Tell you what, the Braves would have loved to have the extra day this year. They do not get it. That first game. Is that going to be the night?

It's a it's a one o'clock Pacific. So four o'clock your time. Okay. And here's my also a boots on the ground. Take care. Oh great. It's ungodly hot right now. Oh, good. No. So listen, this is why I bring it up. Atlanta's party and tonight. These guys are drinking beer tomorrow. Guys, make sure you're hydrated. You gotta get it back in you because you're going to come out here. And it's like a weird humid out here too. So I think it's going to be like 95 coach. Like it's going to be hot. So watch out for that. Little little analytics from me on the way out because you had your hot partying analytics. Yeah. And I'll do this for the algorithm. Show Hey, O'Hee. Okay. Show Hey, O'Hee. Show Hey, O'Hee. O'Hee. O'Hee. O'Hee. O'Hee. O'Hee. Literally limped into the end of the season a little bit. Some of the hitting numbers slowed down. Let's let's see what that guy has because he's the best baseball player ever.

And usually that dodgers bullpen is interesting. But I also, I don't know if it's this series or maybe the next or maybe the next, but you know, Yamamoto and Scoobal are two guys that could. I don't know. They could end the game. Not a huge Akunia series for the wild card. Like I think that's who I'm watching because I do believe the braves need a few guys to just have, you know, a banger of a series. Whether it is Matt Olson, I think Akunia could, you know, be one of those igniters clearly. He didn't do it in the wild card. They didn't really need him. Can he take a series over at Dodger Stadium? Man, like in my mind, I can see that happening. Fan fiction for braves fans. Akunia just going off for homers in this series or something like that. You can see that happening. Matt Olson tells Freddie, guess what? This is my city now. Okay. Okay. What's which one? L.A. Glad you got L.A. No, man. I'll tell Freddie and Matt Olson. This my city.

You'll text Olson that and he'll L.O.L. Okay. I'll buy you dinner, pal. Yeah. Cool, dude. I look like John Hamm and Mad Men shut up. Let's again, a stack National League, the potential three-peat Dodgers and the braves trying to get back to the Pantheon where they were the perfect prediction year, 21. I don't forget. By the way, I did have a perfect wild card round prediction. It is what it is. I thought you were going to bring that up earlier. I went one for four. You went three for four. No, that's not that matter. Mentioned your prediction so I can bring up mine. That's how you do it, people. And the other way you do it is with National Car Rental. That's right. Today's episode is sponsored by National Car Rental. Have you ever noticed how some people have traveled figured out they're on the fast track already in the driver's seat? Everyone else is still checking in. Feels like they're winning at Traveling. Honestly, they are because when you run with National Car Rental, you show up feeling like a winner. Even before you get to the game, the winners know something great is waiting for them on deck. Yeah. Like an effortless car rental experience.

Nationals Emerald Club, you skip the counter, choose any vehicle in the Emerald Isle and you go straight to the car you want traveling on your own terms. That means more speed, more choice and total control over your trip. The way travel should feel because renting when National isn't just about getting from point A to point B. It's about arriving like a winner and driving off like one to win it travel rent today National Car dot com. Trave the other NL series. Power is power. Hit me with it Rob. I want to feel it in my bones. Power is power. The Milwaukee Brewers, they've been waiting 365 days for this. They're hosting San Diego for Nando and that bullpen at Ampham on Saturday. During the year, the Padres won the season series. How many teams can say that against the Milwaukee Brewers? Four to two with a little four to two, including a sweep in August as the Padres turn their season around. Obviously, the Padres kind of

dropped it on the Cubs and showed what the best version of San Diego could look like. They're two of baseball's hottest teams San Diego. They finished September 18 and six and then dismembered the Cubs done like that. And then the Brewers, a record setting Milwaukee season 103 wins coach. Trave Jacob Mizorowski with a historic season at the top of the line. They led the league in batting average and ambiance. What do they know offensively? And I'm going to mention Jake the rake Bowers because my God, what a year he put together and everyone from Milwaukee can pitch. Where does it start for you, coach? Trave. If I say the name Lorraine a Bob it, is that ring a bell? Oh, yeah. Okay. I didn't know if you were there. I didn't know if you were there. Google adult. Doll doesn't know. He doesn't know. No. That's like that's ingrained in my head. I was a youngster when I heard that story. I was like, excuse me. Yep. No thanks. Where do we start with this? I just looked at the possible pitching matchups. Yeah. And look,

I think you can, you can really, really categorize these two teams. No, I'm not talking with, we're going to get into the baseball stuff, but just the, the aura. You the ponder is, so wait, let me get this straight. Just quick. Before we go baseball, you want to go Lorraine a Bob it to aura and then we'll talk ball. Okay. That's what we do on the show, Jake. It's the number one baseball podcast in the world. Listen, yeah, whatever. Many years running. Um, Trevor Plood for president. Thank you. The Padres come in with all the machismo in the world. The high tea is there. They can't hide it. They can't hide it. They don't want to. They don't want to hide it. Holy sheets. They're chanting holy sheets in the crowd. He goes yard on back, baby. And he's the 17th guy you mentioned about freaking aura on that team. Now on the flip side of Sima Waki Brewers, who were like, okay, they're these analytical nerdy. No, they're not.

They're not that. Bryce Tureng is not that these guys on the other hand are the stone cold killers that I like to talk about. The silent assassins. They're very confident. You want to talk about maybe the most confident guy in the building? Oh, is it Todd Tees? Is it man? It's Trevor McGill. It is. Wow. It is. Watch the guy run in from the outfield, which we're going to see him during this series when he's closing games down. Yeah, no. So I feel like there is this misconception of like crazy, you know, out there aura and then not. But it's like, no, the fillies definitely have that as well. On to the peas and cues, eyes and whatever they call it. This is going to be an interesting one. Are we getting get Walker Bueller versus Jacob Mizorowski game one. Holy shit. The old bull versus the young calf. Pitching with different styles these days. Yeah, that's the projected right now is Walker Bueller

would take the pill in game one. Maybe they do some opener, funny business. Maybe they don't. I don't know. Again, San Diego tapping into that bullpen and then game two again, a five game set. We've kind of been blinded by these three games. That's five games still happens quick that Mike King in that game to start and who he needs to be for San Diego before the off day. And then we think PIV on normal rest again, Robbie Ray and Walker Bueller are around. Could they pitch game one? Could they pitch? Could they not pitch game one? Uh, they're formula a little tricky, but also trev. It's not like we're making up guys. I, again, I snaps for what Ray Kerr did tonight because that game could go very differently. Um, like, you know, Walker Bueller is pitched on the biggest stage and perform like Robbie Ray. Again, it's one of those weird things when you look back at different guys careers. Like an amazing pitcher in this league for a long time

that the names pitching for the Padres will be names. They will. I'm looking up one thing real quick for now. T. Junior. What's like, I just like, I love Jacob Mizorowski. I saw him dice up my twins. I also saw him get pumped a few different times. And uh, it's, it's the ball down that he gets hit on. If he lives at the top of the zone, nobody's hitting them. I, I don't even care. Maybe that maybe the short kinks chase my dross clips. I'm obviously, we know that already happened. People that's not even fiction. That's real. That's nonfiction. World series preview. Possibly that was my 2020. Oh, two pick. 22. Yeah. Yeah. Milwaukee. I had that on the top of his brain too, which I'm going to give him snaps for and also like that stuff. Don't remember trev's 22 world series. It didn't make the playoffs either of us. Tough one after picking it exactly right. Anyways, is it going to come down to Homer's versus not Homer's? You know, we saw the podra is really pour it on the cubs with some, with some solo

homers and big swings and, you know, Milwaukee, all the talk is really don't hit Homer's. They got guys they can hit Homer's. They do. Uh, is it going to happen in five game series? What they do have is the ability to play small ball and to score other ways as well. The defense is going to be there. I think for both of these teams, they can play defense and especially in the outfield, they can go get it. And I think that's going to be something to watch for too is what outfielder makes the big play to run down a gap or with the bases loaded because in a five game set that matters. No, like if you can you can you can win a game that sets you up for the rest of the series by the outfield play we're going to see and Luis Laura versus round Tati's junior is awesome to see out there in right field. We'll see if that happens. But dang man, I'm excited about this series maybe more than any other division series that we're going to get. I think you're right. Uh, Yank's Tampa as a chance to be interesting and we'll get to that in a second. Um, this one just when we did our picks,

which is so funny. I mean, doing the the time lapse of our here from TPPs to how we've gotten here to the baseball seasons five baseball seasons and one. When I had to make the brewers, Padres pick because again, I got that whole round right. Um, for me that it was, it was gutter old dude. It was like how do you like what look at what the Padres just did because if they get early runs, it's almost over like their bullp it's not like it's not that conversation. We do this with a lot of bullpen's in the five games and seven game sets is like, Hey, the more you see him, the better your chance gets, right? Mason Miller that doesn't matter. Okay. You can stand in front of 103 all day. It doesn't get better. Um, more a home. Brad Glee. Jason Adam is back. And hey, this Milwaukee bullpen can twirl it too. You mentioned McGill. You got your rebate every pitcher that comes into this game is going to be an absolute weapon on both sides that those early runs. It's a corny

baseball cop out, but literally it's, it's different in this series that I wonder how the small ball gets implemented early. And if that's the case, I think Milwaukee has a little bit of a leg up because they're not scared of that. But also know it sometimes does beat small ball. If Tatis hits one for 40. Um, so I, again, that's not much of a what to watch for. But these teams I, I think playoff wise are very evenly matched. I did too. I forgot. I had two out of four teams. Right. I take the braves and I pick the podries. Okay. I, I, I, I, I shorted myself earlier on the episode. Okay. It's all right. I'm the AL guy here. Everyone knows that. I don't know what else to say. I'm very excited. I don't know if we need to break it down any more. I mean, Bryce Tarrang led all of baseball in September with a 361 average 475 OBP. That's what you want from him coming into the season into the postseason. And I know we talked about it a little bit, but yelling, getting named MVP is captain. He also was named MVP also.

MVP. People. So what? 2018 was that 19? I had a little bit of juice over here. I'm I bet. That's great year by him. Um, now the captain, Trev, I'm with you. There's something about that. It should be said. And this is the thing I keep coming back to with Milwaukee. And it's why I ended up picking them as much as I love San Diego and their formula that feels downright nasty when it works. Milwaukee has been gearing up for October the whole year. Like they were like, okay, we had a great regular season last year. And then the Dodgers dog walked us. And this season, they were like, we need to get better on every front. And they got better on every front. And now they're in October that again, we don't view them in the same realm as the mighty Dodgers yet, but they've been a better regular season team. And like they've had their targets on one thing. The crazy thing is it's the same thing the Padres have had their targets on like both of these teams are so excited to get a shot at Goliath, but they got to get through these guys first that

I think it's TN up for an amazing series. And like I think we're going five. Like I think this is going to be nasty. And he's going to be nasty. Huh. I don't know when I say that. Let's go over to the American League and it'll start off with some Yankees and Tampa Bay rays. And it's brought to you by neutrophal. Every guy in the clubhouse has a routine. Same order same time every day. Nobody gets to October by winging it. Your hair works the same way. Neutral fall men isn't a hail. Mary. It's a routine and the official hair growth partner, a major league baseball step one, men's two and one shampoo and conditioner bang. Disolves build up and replenishes hydration. That's what we've been talking about. Step two, men's hair serum lightweight fast absorbing helps improve visible thickness. Huh. Step three does the heavy lifting four capsules a day with a meal to formulas. Neutral fall men for visibly fuller hair and men 50 plus Chris Rose.

That helps hold on to the hair you have. Oh, that is physician formulated clinically tested. I love Chris Rose. He's my idol 100% drug free and the only hair growth supplement NSF certified for sport three steps. Same time every day. Give it three to six months and watch what happens. That's neutrophal.com slash men. Neutral.com slash men. The official hair growth partner of Major League Baseball New York Yankees Tampa Bay rays the two best teams. Your hair looks great coach. I've been I've been slightly juicing for a little bit, man. I and you don't even have to look at it that way. You're just helping your hair. Yeah, like that. Right. Like take care of yourself. The two best teams in the American League this year. The Tampa Bay rays who got the one seed. The best home team in baseball. The Tampa Bay rays at the top versus the best road team in baseball. The New York Yankees Trev and I kind of sad note and just a reminder of you have no idea that's kind of shocking. But we have a show talking yanks. Me, Jimmy, some Joe's McFly. We previewed this whole

series a little more in depth. If you guys know how Jimmy works, there's there is a five minute stretch on same side change ups to watch out for shadow, you know, Sarah. So I also had a nice article on that earlier this year for divisional teams. Trev they had one series since July 9th and it's when the season was already decided. So these teams haven't really locked horns like that when they did the raise one the season series seven six. But there's only so much I truly think you can take away from that. Both of these teams have deep starting pitching rotations. Both these teams have platoon lineups that I wonder how much is going to get zoomed in on managerial moves and decisions trying to attack that platoon. And I do wonder how much of this is going to come down to the drop which man that Tampa team is built for that building. I always wonder why people say that the guy it wasn't easy to play down there. There's no doubt about it. Like I didn't really see the ball well. And a lot of that I also think was because Tampa had a good starting pitching. But the

drop when I went to play there I was like actually really like it. So why does it switch when you're when you it's your home park. And when you're not there I think it has to do with the players you're facing right. I think speed plays and I think Tampa they they have the one the fastest guy to maybe ever play this sport in Chandler since what is the turf do for the speed and baseball though like I get you put it on the ground maybe get a little extra roll through the infield but they're running on dirt. So like I don't yeah I think you want to be okay Taylor Rawls at short stuff I think what he does out there being a magician I think that matters. They don't they're outfield grades out well defensively their infield doesn't just I'm specifically talking about playing at the drop and I'm wondering out loud as well because it is a funny it's like a dichotomy of playing I played against them there and it was a difficult place to play and then when I got there I was like oh this is awesome. Why I think the game speeds up and I I don't know if I think it's a mix of

small ball I think it's a mix of balls in the gap I think it's a mix of like everything speeds up a little bit I think it's like the corny I mean this is a football thing but I think inside on that surface I think guys play faster like so I think the the the metroidome was all they talked about that with the metroidome as well these actual domes where like you don't think that's a perfect example you don't get the sun and you're not out like it is different like your body does react so when you do get used to it I love this I was like hey I know we're playing today and I know what temperature it's going to be in here so the atmosphere plays for you once you get used to it but like going in and maybe there is some sort of like we're hey we're simulation guys like what's the sun really bringing into our bodies now we're talking what is the sun really bringing trouble and you're not your deficient of it there I say a lot right like humans are pretty used to getting sun right I don't I'm just talking out loud people don't worry about it the last time these two teams matched up was 2020 in the post go on then Mike brought so homering against freaking a roll this

shatman do you know what stadium you want to talk simulation do you know what stadium that was in echo I do remember that so these teams have only met once in the postseason it was 2020 in San Diego of course crazy crazy I mean the other thing again Trev I can kick off if if you do have questions or anything you're looking for because I I did a lot of this earlier the rays I love their big three it's yondi who's a contact king and and just a beast overall it's aronda who he's got some splits to him but as a lefty just a slasher and then junior caminero who back to back 40 home or seasons at the age of 23 he's the big plate the big play threat and then after that guys know their job it's one of the things that you opened up your our eyes to Tampa when we were like rays are going to raise and they're so analytical and you're like this team is testosterone because when you walk in Tampa they say you know what you can do you hit heaters you hit righties and you place enter field sick go do

it and they don't put you in position to do the stuff you don't do well that it's like they empower you throughout and the second half of their team is that more than any other organization I played for they pointed out what you did well and they're like this is why you're here this is why you're here go do those things and it really is a freeing type of atmosphere because you're like okay like I do do those things well holy shit I can hit a lefty I can I can you know whatever it is that whatever you do well like it makes you feel like oh yeah like I'll just go do that and if I do anything else on the other part of the game that's just the bonus that's how they make you feel so there is that aspect to it I think it's it's fascinating because you do have a contact oriented team who steals bases have some speed versus the Yankees who slug hit extra bases they do have sneaky you guys do have speed yes insert in spots and you guys are very good stealing bases to it's a lot of chism and kabayero who invulpied to now that he's back he is a threat to he's he's a

great at stealing third base he's like one of the best in baseball at it that yes no the Yankees and okay so going through the past five years of Yankees going back to like uh you're in Jimmy's guy Josh Donaldson like it was him Rizzo like those guys couldn't like run Luke Void um and then the Yankees evolved to like a little better and they had more platoon stuff but the defense was shocking and we saw that on the biggest stage they have a little more all around uh their infield can pick it when it's right when it's McMahon Lombard jazz and Goldie like that infield can play ball the outfields really interesting right now because Trent Grisham is back but he's got a hamstring thing you texted us and you were kind of like what is this I mean he's a guy that normally plays at one speed and that's part of his allure but when you got a banged up hamstring it can be it I don't know what center field is one speed right now is not fast it's it's not when his hammies healthy either so yeah it's a little waddleish out there is judge going to be on this roster because the

Yankees play scared of the trap that if judge was a debate for the wild card if he could be a pinch hitter and then he could start game three at Yankee Stadium that gets very interesting um and I think the bigger thing for me is uh as we talked about every pitcher that touches the mound in San Diego and Milwaukee this Yankees raised series is going to have a lot of that to both teams like five starting pictures and a couple of those guys are going to be bullpen options they like the back of their bullpen's that yeah if this becomes a trap and small ball and running and extra bases and execution the rays have the nod on if this becomes dominant starting pitching and one or two home runs that leans Yankee so I don't know I think this is a somewhat fair fight I think Yankee fans are feeling a little too good after they dismantled the red socks like that red socks team wasn't where they were at was not ready for October um and these rays deserve respect for what they did

this season they really do they absolutely do and we mentioned just it's just that they do everything well because they have they put their guys in the right positions they run prevent they're able to score runs they take the extra base they do all those things well um I honestly I I could pick winners in all the other series this one this one gets difficult for me the Yankees are playing so good you have to neutralize Ben Rice if you're the raise and just say let somebody else beat us can't let him do it um if they do that I think the rays have a chance but again I am uh this is a flippa coin series for me I I completely agree and I there is very much a world that you the rays could walk away and be like dude Cole Schlippler freed and rode on just dropped it on us like we we never had a chance to get it going there's a world where the Yankees are down oh two and are like get us out of the trap like yeah they just tortured us you you're

gonna get rest moose has been great then either Freddie Peralta Nick Martinez Peralta has changed what he's done since he's gone over to the race he started throwing that same side change up more and that's been a thing since what Jeremy helix and big game James down there in Tampa I always like to write give me a write on write change on your fuck yeah turn on it right in my right in my bat path your hands um but that's what they do and I'll tell you what if you see Griffin jacks and he's hot look out he I mean he's got some of the nastier stuff in all the baseball so they're you're talking about the Yankees starting pitching and it could be a dominant I feel the exact same way about the race yes yes I drew drew rasmussen career versus the yanks don't look him up because you're gonna see you're going I got it I believe it's 59.1 or 0.2 with a 1 8 1 ERA I have five and two with a 1 8 1.86 whip in 11 games 180 average are allowed 474 OPS against

drew rasmussen messes Yankees by the way in those numbers there's one six run like 2.1 started was this year but if you take that out drew rasmussen gets nasty on the I just said Ben Rice can't let him beat you he's one for 16 does have a home or though that one hits and that's against rasmussen I hope it's fun I hope it turns back and forth with everything we just said I mean part of me obviously does and I am a Yankees fan I hope the Yankees sweet but this has a chance to be like a delightful two different delightful versions of baseball and the season series was 7 to 6 but as you mentioned towards the end there the rays that are already clinched I'd put it more at what like truly 7 and 4 something like that 7 to 4 yeah I mean even that the first games of that series yeah there he kind of knew it was over that yeah the rays what's what's really the other interesting

thing the rays are a lot worse offensively verse lefties so will the Yankees press the rodon button will they add more lefties to their bullpen and yeah you mentioned Griffin jacks and Nick Martinez both those guys have relieving experience that I think they could they can raise up this series shout out in our live stream tonight trev at the end of it we're you know three hours in and someone goes like hey love you Jake but raise up you know big fan of what you guys do go raise from Argentina there's like what hell yeah what the hell are you doing down there but the rays maybe that's there that's their fan plan let's get South America you know it's a sneaky crazy place in South America chile you know that map is getting more popular because they just guard the coast weird so weird looks like a spine who else has that is it the check republic that they box out Bosnia I believe what do we do on coach talk my Eastern European

stuff or I don't have I don't have Eastern Europe I don't we used to play a lot of geoguesser at this come back when we were a proper company trev there's one more series it's the series everyone's been waiting for it's one this is classic grocery store by us you bring him to the end keep the milkin eggs in the corner so we can tell you some white socks guard dogs it's brought to you by better help go check out this episode is sponsored by better help and if you've thought about given therapy a try better help insurance options may now be available nationwide with an average copay of eligible members of just $23 per session world mental health day is October 10th a day before my birthday reminder for everyone but mental health doesn't wait for a special occasion the baseball season alone is months long emotional commitment sure is and that's just as someone following the game therapy isn't reserved for major life moments it's a place to work through the smaller stuff to work pressure that won't leave you alone a relationship dynamic you can't quite put into words or just a sense of something that feels off can't explain why don't wait

Trev the al central your born and bred there you became a man there let's be honest about it um the white socks won that season series seven games to six that series that they were fighting for their life could they get one against the guards they win the first game in the series but then they lose the next two they lose the division um these team rise to the top in the central and the west I just as I if I do send any shrapnel at the ale central during this I do need to remind myself the a ls was one of the worst divisions ever these are the two best remaining teams from both

those divisions not how it really works their first time ever meeting in the postseason coach trev and the whole story I mean the guardians team that is so solid it can be frustrating to our guy Chris rose and the white socks team that basically uh with a magic wand and a crazy injured reliever with a wizard hat on appeared in this season I was going to like freaked out when it says first ever postseason meeting between uh these two teams then I guess you go back and there's more people in the playoffs now uh it used to be very small like it went it used to be two teams met in the world series and that was it right that's insane right there what are we even doing uh so there's that but this was throughout the year like a very very close series a ton of walkoffs close game one run games uh so I I kind of expect that to continue and i know cleveland's been able to to to set up their pitching which is kind of their calling card this year they're going to get

Williams they're going to get parker mastic they're going to get foster grip and they're going to be able to line up those guys I think uh canteo doesn't get enough yeah love when we talk about the starting pitching but Tanner bibi come on oh it's a bibi agreed yeah that's on me it's okay but I do think it's going to uh be a fascinating series I just cleveland only plays tough series like there's no blowout games when cleveland's on the field like Chicago can do that to some teams but they won't do it to the guardians these are going to be close it's going to be about execution I think Chicago needs all these guys to continue to stay hot they found their offense in houston they're going up against some really really good pitching and run prevention and cleveland and if they want any part of this they have to like chase my draw that's a continuing to go maricame's got to find the seeds coleson augum he's got to find the seeds randall gritches got to really step up for them against these left handers like I think he's going to be a massive part of this

series but you know cleveland is is very much like the rays where like they're they they can do it they can find it in different ways they really haven't had hosey remeer is uh like with this offense whatsoever he's been bad since he also break coming back off the aisle is he gonna end up being like an austin riley was for the braze like where when's the big home are coming from him because you just feel like he's gonna do something right oh yeah I mean it in a in a regular season where we saw you know austin riley struggled and then he hits the signature moment of the post season boom then follows it with that there is something to that scoreboard or set and trev and I know a lot of times when it comes to the great players there's usually a lingering injury or sometimes the train just doesn't get out of the station and if you're a switch hitter it can be tough because there's one side hot one side cold or you're seeing a lot of the pit like so much can happen in the baseball season that come October hosey remeer is his hosey remeer is and he's in my

opinion he's the baddest man on the field um this white socks team is so there's something so delightfully wrong about it that makes it work like is game one gonna have Randall Gritchick Tommy fan and Bretton Doyle in the lineup I think so um and that's with Miguel Vargas and chase my drawth they have a ton of lefties like how how much can they attack the Parker messics get in game one Gavin Williams game two um they're pitching for me it looks like they have to make it a little messy that I almost want them I want the white socks to be like old school Alex Cora pit we don't have a starting pitcher tomorrow like everyone have your cleats on I might need your outs tonight Sean Burke I don't know like I don't know exactly how we're gonna do this they have the extra off day and that should be mentioned with Tampa and the Yankees two I mentioned that before that you can use your relievers a little bit more you only play back-to-back games once if you make

it to five games that you lock it up lock it up yeah and both these teams I think a big part of this series is going to be the lefty lefty matchups or or if you know they're gonna be able to use their full complement of guys or go with the platoon the whole way because the white socks have a ton of lefties in that bullpen and the best hitters for I mean most of the best hitters for the guardians are left-handed even Quon chased a lot or Travis Bazzona Calibans are like these guys are all left-handed hitters are they gonna be able to step up against same side of pitching you could say the same thing for Murakami for Coles among Gummi and having to face these starting pitchers these left-handed starting pitchers for Cleveland so it's I think that's gonna be a big part of this equation is what guys can step up same side of there or do we not see some of these guys and we just run the platoon out yeah and I think there's a little bit of this is playing both sides of the coin a little bit but the guardians because they have

starting pitchers they believe in in a way that can become I mean it can become dominant it could also be a weakness like the guardians are gonna let Gavin Williams pitch through trouble they're gonna let Parker Messick pitch through trouble where the white socks I mean it's you let a couple guys on you're out that again that's being very optimistic on the white socks side I guess for me the longer this series goes because the white socks will have to lean on more bullpen to get through the longer this series goes I think it starts leaning Cleveland and I don't know if that's for I don't know if it's five but yeah I think I think the white socks have to jump them and they can man like they've got real power in this lineup and their bullpen can give you an ugly out like they're gonna have a lot of lefties on there they're gonna need young guys just that that's as obvious it gets I guess where I was gonna say on the pitching side like you mentioned but we saw Andrew painter basically have his breakout game that's gonna have us excited for next year Hagen Smith already

showed us in that wild card round what he can do can somewhat like Noah Schultz is a big time prospect at the light bulb hasn't gone on yet but could it I don't know for an inning for two winning I mean look look what happened and it all comes back to Ray Kerr keep getting them out as long what's your new phrase Trevor the hitters will let you know nice the history the hitters know first a couple we have what two divisional matchups in the AL which that can have a little juice to it and then yeah I don't know podres I don't want to be hit you with the Chris Rose okay Joe Adele is my answer big homer no it's not you want us to move on from Cleveland God I love Joe Adele looks so good in that uni fuck which team do you think is most likely to pull the upset oh of the four series yeah I don't even know who we're we're under right I kind of just

did the same like Ray is Yankees the other dog there the wild card teams so that would be Yankees okay so okay who's gonna take out the the byteams okay um gosh white sucks I think I think it's the Yankees if the Yankees I think I think it's the ALT so I do yeah that's probably the answer right again San Diego all of them have a chance San Diego can go in and bludgeon the brewers and I would I'd be like oh yeah that that happened like they're hot they're the hottest team in baseball the braves like when they get right that line up's very very long and they can crystal you to death with these off this if they just Peter Bendix it up Chris ael throws five games in a row fuck it my throat eh that's why people come here

that's like that I throw every day why not maybe there's something about that arm angle remember when he was salary dumped for Von Grissom do you know I googled today I said what is the best arm angle degree for stats there's got to be one that wins for stats yeah like they have everybody has their arm angle like who's what arm angle has the best statistics and and then only to a certain degree I can't go like I can't go here and I can't go down oh you can in the normal motion here Oliver Drake from like 20 to like 38 or something like that whatever that is Rob I've got a rude one for you can you bring up the raise arm clock from their one series run that was fun because that was just delightful look at look at how all these freak shows throw in Tampa and they liked it too that's that's the brewers have that now yeah the brewers have the octopus arms they have everything yes they they have everything I guess what else do we need to tee up for you people

uh so hey Tony show how Tony show how to uh Saturday it's Cleveland Chicago at one Dodgers braves at four Tampa Yankees at six charity and then Milwaukee San Diego at 830 we think we're going live Sunday night we'll see if we're if we have any fuel in us a little or Saturday night Saturday night we both might be Vino fuel to that point who knows um knows what else will be in us look at this does it get any better it's like six or seven home or should be right there Charlie Murray uh and then it's NL on Sunday a L on Monday and then we'll see what's left for us the rest of the way coach what do you want to send us out with I love our fan base yeah best in the world best in the world who are we the giggly squat the male gigglers yeah I'm Hannah in your page it's clear as day for the 11 people that when you first drop that and understood it they were
