You know, everything for them on defense start up. They got a really good defense aligner, a really good cornerback for work. Hey, what's next? You're having time to reflect. Oh, I'm glad I'm getting it. You just can give it overarching, look at the whole game and it's so talented. I'm on that. It's the 80 yard. It's the tournament. I think we should take on the whole game. To be honest, what you got kind of put that behind on Monday when we started getting ready for the Broncos and I made focus on this.
Before we were a couple of weeks in the scene, we were just keeping you break for right now. Just being able to wake up in a minute and continue to play the game I love. That's not somewhere that you said coach Shen and Hayden is like, I don't know what you said. He was like your father or anything. No, you said that. You can call him similar, but he was very good back. If you can got to talk about the relationship between you and coach Shen and Hayden. It's kind of an amazing, you know, from, you know, seeing your both of now. Seeing your both was probably one of the best. Now years ago, it's just been building every since then. Very trustworthy guy, a real smart. When it comes to football, as you can see, he's in the game. He's in his cause of plays, but overall, it's a great human being for sure. So you hit 20.39 mile per hour? Is that similar to what you read out so far in practice? And if it is, how similar is that to 2019? I mean, are you still reaching the same speeds and reaching when you are looking? I don't know. I don't check the practice speed.
Kind of just ran fast enough to get away, but overall, pretty fast. I know it's still early in season, but it's different between the last time you were in Also Park. Oh, nothing, I understand. It does seem like in the breakdown video here in the locker room that you see different teams after a win and you really hype in the locker room. You guys seem very even feel right now. Why is it? In a homeless way, we've kind of been here before. You know, it's just a culture that I always talk about at Cal and John built next game mentality. We didn't just play a Super Bowl and it's the ultimate goal. Just to continue to stack Williams, we've been in the week out and just get better by the week. Everyone always on the good note. Don't always get the opportunity to get a second chance at things. I was definitely very excited when I heard that they wanted to come in and do a workout. And now we're here. I think Janet Hance said yesterday, I think he was kind of grasping for the year,
but he said that they wanted you to come in for training camp at some point. You remember when that was? Yeah, it was like maybe like two days into training camp this year. Yeah, I was actually on a flight to Buffalo to do a workout. My agent called and was like, the night I was wanting you to come in tomorrow. I was like, I'm going to sat down, not like, you know where I'm at right now. He's like, I know. And then Bill signed me and so that kind of, I tell that went. But yeah, it was definitely good to hear that they were still interested and still wanting me to come back. Was that at all surprised given how things ended in 2020? I wouldn't say it was a surprise. Maybe if it was like three years ago, it might have been a surprise. But no, I feel like I'm bleeding. Now it's like, you know, everyone's trying to win. There's like nothing in the way that's so far removed now. It's like, it is whatever. Yeah, the same feel as like riding a bike, like walking.
Yeah, you know the playbook, you know the system. Yeah, for real. Sitting down in meetings is like, you know, here, Calibur over stuff is like, I feel like I was here a year ago. You know, it doesn't seem like six years went by. It's crazy. How would you describe your relationship with Kyle? The end, the toys they tough on. No! I agree, Severs. I mean, you know that as well as everything. I mean, did you keep up over the years? How would you describe where that is now? I mean, I feel like we're in a good place. I don't think it was ever like anything bad. There was expectations and they weren't being met. Like, it is what it is. Yeah, there's never been like, like, I'd seen him at a game or whatever, like, say what's up to each other. Yeah, pretty good spot, for sure. What does Dad have to say? He's excited. That's my boy.
Yeah, he's excited. He was with the Giants this year, so it was cool that I was able to come back out here. He left the day that I got in though, so it was like, it was funny that they're really passing each other. Yeah, he's excited for sure. Did you become a Giants' captain? He's had to. I was doing that. I had to. They had a rough year, but it was still cool seeing him back out there, especially in the Bay area. You know, he drove out here, so he was happy with that trip. How was this team changed in the few years since you were here? I feel like I'm not a ton. Just because you guys are George and Fred kind of like leading the charge, and that's how it was when I was here too. So I think they've done a good job just like making sure you guys fit and kind of carry on the torch. I really didn't seem like it's that much different. What about Brock? What were your first impressions of Brock? I've always liked him, though. I feel like he's a really good quarterback.
I mean, we have two practices now. I haven't had too much time, but I've always been a fan. Have you changed since you were here last time? I mean, I'm a lot older now. I'm a little bearded, but I know a lot more about football. I know a lot more about life in general. I don't think that there's specific things that stick out, but in terms of football, I feel like going different places, seeing different teams, different cultures, schemes, all that. You learn so much. And you come back to a place where you start, and it's like you carry all that kind of wisdom you picked up with you and bring it back here, and it's like it's cool. It's cool to be back here now. So what would be a little different when you think about the wisdom that you started here with in the New Hampshire? I think that one of the main things is like playing receiver.
You learn so many different playbooks and some of the different offices, some of the different ways to run routes. So I feel like just picking those things from every team and every coach and just bringing it back and making it a lot more comfortable. Any bad words? Hi. Howdy. Who you guys got for me today? Well, Coach Kovie said the office will, the Brock Curry not being said, is not just an office of line thing, but if you could speak to, he says the tight end, is the running back, is the receivers, is everyone. But if you could speak to the productivity of the office of line this year, you don't want to compare them to the season's past, but they've been productive. They've been incredibly productive. No, we've ran the ball decently. I especially like two of the three games we've ran the ball pretty well. The ball has been run the ball great, but they pressure to bunch and they held up in pressure when Brock was able to throw the ball. So I think they're just adapting to what the defense gives them. I put a lot of that on, I think, you know, coach first year is a great online coach, but at the end of the day, we did the same guys we did in the room last year.
Most of them playing together for four plus years. It's pretty cool. I think Kuni's doing a really good job. Connor Colby's fine in the stride. I mean, and then anytime you get a lineup in between Colton and Trent, I had to really good thing and Jake's just handling it. I think a lot of it too is Brock Meena will use his legs, trust him, receivers down field. The whole thing is just working pretty well right now. What do you see from Tyler? I know from the original film, and you make sure you don't do it during the last week. I mean, Hoff is an instinctual player. He watches a ton of film, and then five remember the four years we play together. He's always on his iPad watching every single game. He's watching Tennessee's. He's watching how guys break down on their routes. If there's any tells on guys' routes, and so how do you not let him do that? Well, I mean, hopefully he gets his wrong a couple times. I mean, that'd be my thing. He's gonna guess right once and well, but he also gets his wrong. But like, those instinctual players, right? Like he's gonna make plays, and you just gotta make sure he doesn't make all the plays. And you know, we have a lot of really good players, so it is what it is.
Like he's gonna get some of his plays, but if we can take advantage of some of that stuff, it should be pretty fun. Yes. I'm not saying I subscribe to this, but it could be a narrative out there. What's your narrative? Well, you guys are playing out with Mike Gage and David to rebuild the teams, and then, you're Australian, you got it. Okay. So this is like maybe your first, like, you're really legit to see where you guys are. Just how big you are. You should try Danny. I think it's really hard to win the NFL, and in the week that you can get a dub is awesome. Yeah, the Bronx are a really good team. They have a fantastic line. We practiced against them in camp last year. Their D-line is really good. Their linebackers are very efficient, and Patrick Surtain is probably still the best quarter in the NFL, and Huffunga is incredibly confident playing back there right now, so like their defense is on fire. Oh yeah, DJ Jones is the man, love DJ Jones. What a good guy he is.
But yeah, they're often just playing really efficient. They just got ahead of Jalen Wattelike. This is a really good football team. They're coming to our house, and they have every expectation to beat us, so I'm just excited to play more football on Sunday. That's a crazy narrative you're starting. Interesting. It's 90 on Sunday. Hell yeah. Played some hot games here before. John, if you're still for that, maybe California's are a little soft. What do you think? I'm doing it now. What do you think about this condition? Is that good? Great quote, John. I mean, we're pretty blessed up here with the nice 70-degree weathering on a nice breeze every single day, so... There's no excuse. The Dolphins play in crazy heat every single day, and then the entire East Coast plays in crazy games at the end of the year. So, show up, play football, get an IV. Don't cramp like Grayson did. 25 snaps, he won't get a cramp. I'm sure it's better than the Hawkeye Hellman Rock, or the Riches. Rich, he can play in his way more too. It was awesome. It was very satisfying.
I really appreciate him too. They're like, he did a 10-minute paromal. Talked really nicely. I appreciate him for that, and I think I'm a lot of Ohio State people are very happy as well. Yeah, he's got a send at home. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's in the mail already. Yeah, yeah, yeah, no. That's coming home. I'll send him another one now. That'll be fun. Anything else, guys? George, you're going to be crying. I've got a pretty nasty step on my hand. He did. Yeah, but I mean, I've been stuck with it and see the big tough guy that's going to be... Go ask him. I did. Good, what do you say? I'm just going to ask him a few. Yeah, as you should. This is why he's going to be just trying to fight back. You see that you're a tougher guy. Yeah, he is. How would you describe what he's in his style and did you meet with respect him when he showed up? Oh, yeah. I mean, I've been a fan of him since he was a rookie. There's guys that you can tell they love the game, but then through like every single day you can see like relentless effort. And it's really hard to give relentless effort every single day.
I mean, I really, guys go back and watch last week's Up to the South's highlights. And there are plays that he is like on the opposite numbers and he runs full speed across the entire field and tackles somebody on the opposite sideline. It's incredible. And so like that was an awesome... And I got in CX, I got kind of saw in the field, but Coach Shannon showed us a lot of the film on Saturday night. And it just gives you a whole new respect for how he's playing right now. And I always tell young players too, like the NFL, there's a lot of great players in it, right? There's a great Martian Lunge quote, like you just got to get yours more than you get got. And sometimes you get got. And as long as you get yours more, you'll have a great career in the NFL. How can you show it to you Saturday night if you're in a dropout team? Yeah, he always shows us defensive highlights because he gets bored getting off into coach. So we just go to watch the defense. And so, yeah, we got to watch. It was mostly up to my highlight film. It was pretty sick. Can you see from Brandon Cook so far? He is fast, very jittery. Yeah, crazy. He's gotten the league in 2014, so juice is still older than him.
John Weeks, I think, is his dad. Besides that, no, I really appreciate how he takes notes in the film. It was really cool, like the whole game. He just like sits in the same spot. He's never in the way. He's always encouraging. So I'm excited to play football with him. It's really fun seeing the huddle. I just look at him, hey, look, it's Mike Evans and it's Brandon Cooks. I use it in everybody's first and last time. It's pretty fun. If they don't like it, but I do. Thanks guys. If you wore that, a couple years ago. Something like that. So then I started wearing it for practice and then just carried it over to the house. Well, where's the end of the team? What are you going to do? I don't know. I don't know. What are you going to do? No, there's a couple different brands that you don't have to wear the Guardian cap. Shoot. I might be going on. Caleb Williams, where is it? I think he would have my word.
There's a number of us, but it hasn't taken over yet. Can you walk your game on TV and pick it out? Yeah. It is a little bit bigger as a little action outlook to it. But yeah. Did you have anything in court yesterday? How did it go? I did it on Tuesday. Tuesday. It seemed like it went well. They don't give you the official decision right when you're done. So I'm still waiting to hear back. But fingers crossed, things are going to work out. How do you explain that? You just go in and make your case or like... Yeah. It's what I imagine a court hearing would be like. They read, you're fine, and give you the letter of the law. They let you speak. And you basically explain what happened on the play, what your responsibility was, what you were thinking. And then your agent gets a chance to say what he or she wants to say.
The NFL PA gets a chance to chime in and say what they need to say. And that's it. And then you wouldn't hear any of this. Given that you had to... I'm sorry. The given indication of like, hey, this was a point of emphasis that you might miss. There's a conversation on one of those lines in this particular one now. Given that you had to explain, you know, you said it. My name's Jouce and you and Kristen were juicing the oranges. Yes. How did you explain what the celebration means? Everything that I said to you guys. My name's Jouce, stadium gills, Jouce, Jouce on my pads. Been doing it for years. And you know, quite literally I was drinking a Jouce. I didn't ever pop any sort of beer tab or anything like that. So exactly what I told you guys is what I told them. And on top of the fact that even if it was beer, I don't like... I don't think that should be a problem with every all the beer endorsements that we have in the NFL.
You know, we have the Bud Light. What is it? The Bud Light? The Bud Light. The Bud Light. Selly can. The Bud Light forage. We had everything. So even if it was beer, which it wasn't, I still felt like it was an infraction.
