1:02Hello, everyone out there at Internet Radio Land. This is the long-lost NBC guy. Oh, man, you hear the squeaky chair? I am in, I got a new chair. So you probably won't hear the squeaky chair much longer. Oh, my gosh. I have been absent, but oh, I have not been away. Okay, so I'm listening to the shows. I'm listening to the traffic commander. He's on almost every day with a new interview. They have been awesome. I mean, this month is going to be like legendary for PBN. This preparedness month has been phenomenal. And next week, I'm going to be on two different times, Monday night and Wednesday.

2:04And Wednesday, I'm bringing the warden on. I recently interviewed for another prepper TV show. In the thing I referred to her as the warden, and they thought that was very funny. And I said, well, look, she's a bigger prepper than I am. I'm just the unskilled labor around here. So I just do what she tells me, and that's how we get things done. But that is the truth. Anyway, show me on next Wednesday with the intrepid commander myself. We're going to be talking about a whole bunch of different things. But to top off, you know, national preparedness month, are you prepping? Are you doing it? What are you doing? And I got to think it today, you know,

3:07because there's all this stuff, and the new and China and AI, I haven't been on in so long. But, and I wanted to come on now, and just give you a little bit of, you know, hey, a philosophy, okay, a little bit of, if you had prepper dollars, that were not already, you know, tied up or spoken for. Okay, now obviously if you have holes in your preps, you got to fill them holes. If your medical can't consists of a set of band aids, and some neo-sporum, okay, I don't need to tell you that you should, you should beef that up, okay? But I wanted to give you like a general idea

4:08of where to spend your prepper box, because as I said, you have to look at the crazy meter, okay? So the crazy meter indicates whether we're going further away from sanity, or whether we're getting closer to sanity and stability. So how do you feel the crazy meter is going right now? Do you think it is ticking up? Because I think it is ticking up. The last time Donald Trump got in, we referred to it as the Trump effect, because prepperdom fell off the face of the earth. Barack Obama was the greatest thing for preppers ever. I mean, it got everybody off their butts and prepping serious.

5:15And then Donald Trump got in, and it was almost like someone flipped the switch. Now for the true hardcore preppers and homesteaders and life, you know, people make a lifestyle. We did not let up. And then we went right into COVID. And I have to say, do you think the crazy meter is going up? Or do you think it's going down? Do you think we're getting more stable, more secure? It's good, and you got a good secure job and money coming in and nothing bads on the horizon. Or do you think that $40 trillion in debt and war in the Middle East

6:17and Russia, Ukraine, China, AI, El Nino, that's Maria's latest thing is El Nino. She says, where do they get this Spanish kid from? And I had to explain El Nino to her. Anyway, if you think that the crazy meter is going up, this is my advice to you. If you had spendable, prepper dollars, the number one thing I would look at is training, training and education. If you have to spend money to learn new things, that is the greatest single bang for your buck, prepper thing you can do. Because I mean, take that welding class.

7:20If you always wanted to learn how to weld, how to fabricate metal, do that, learn that. Because they can't take that away from you. Once you have a skill, and it's yours, that's something you can have that if you lost everything, you still got that. Okay. Another thing, James has been going out this month, and I said to him, hey, you need to do a member's only newsletter with all these links to everything that you got deals for, because as we're working and doing stuff, and we're listening to prepping, PBN, we're not writing these links down. And I don't know how to go into the show description, and all that kind of stuff, and find the things, and you know, I still don't know how to get the commercials taken off.

8:24So that's where we're at there. If you can take advantage of some of these deals, and take advantage of some of these deals, because I know some of them, he just got for the month of September, and ticked talk, it's almost over. So jump on these deals. Another thing for your prepper dollars. 9:24For 35 bucks, you can get a GMRS license. No test required. It's not like him. It transmits further than a CB. It has more power to transmit further than a CB, okay? It's not as powerful as ham, but if you're never going to take this test, which I have been wanting to take the ham test since 1975, and I have yet to do it, okay? But I do have a GMRS license. So, and it's good for the whole family. And this is our means of communication, because it also operates on the family band radios. So if you have a set of walkie talkies that you use, you know, when you go to theme parks and stuff like that,

10:26it will still operate with those radios. Those radios transmit on the same channels, okay? You get additional channels with the GMRS, and you get to transmit with more power. So this is an easy way to secure your comms. When I do my presentation, I say what to put in the fair day cage, and people say walkie talkies, and I'm like, yes, walkie talkies, because there is at least one other person that you want to talk to when everything goes to crap and God help you if you don't have one. If you don't have one, God help you. You should have one at least, right? One of these radios.

11:27So the GMRS license is good for the whole family. So everyone in the family can have their own radio. We're at the stage now in the Jones Homestead, Jones Stead, where Deanna has a job. Alex is in a whole other place. Maria and I are usually together, but we can be in a whole other place. And David, you know, he's 14 years old, so we can leave him home here by himself, and he's in another place. So if your plan is, if it goes down along away from home, get back to home, this communication thing can be answered with one stop shopping. And yes, there's little buttons on the side there. It's an easy answer to a complex problem. And they operate off of the old, if you remember Nextel, I remember Nextel because we got everybody Nextel phones when I worked at NASA. I worked at NASA headquarters, and it was a big office building in DC.

13:29The average daily population was around 1700, and we had to evacuate the building. We did an evacuation drill once a year, and we used these Nextel phones because they were like walkie-talkies, and they could transmit through these steel and concrete structures, and we could communicate. So it was a push to talk thing. We created talk groups, first floor, second floor, third floor. You can create your own talk groups. Okay, for different things, and you can also find everybody that has these radios, no matter what talk group they're on, and talk to them individually. So it's a really good answer to a complex problem. So there you go.

14:30If you have, at the end of the month, if you have a couple extra prepper bucks, maybe buy one radio a month. Hello, hello, hello. Who's this? Oh. That's my suggestion, and it doesn't matter who you buy them from, just click on it, get the radio. You can join us Sunday nights on the National Preppers Network, and see how these things work. I hope that the Intrepid Commander would record one of our call-ins because you'll hear people from all over the country calling in, and it's clear as a bell. And yes, if the cell towers go down, these things won't be able to do that, but you'll still have the GMRS. Okay, not only that, it doesn't mean if the cell towers go down.

15:32They operate on the data side. So if the cell towers are jammed up, like what happened in 9-11, and when there was an earthquake here in Virginia, yeah, the first week we're in the house here, we had an earthquake. And of course, if you remember this, this was years and years ago, Washington Monument had a crack, and it was closed for over a year to try and figure out if it was safe to go up in. But the cell lines were jammed. Now, if we had the radios, they would have worked because they operate on the data side. So where you wouldn't be able to get a cell, call through, you'll be able to talk on these radios. And usually when the cell towers go down,

16:32it's because of a power situation. The battery backup runs out and your local cell tower goes down. But you still have the GMRS, which were up here on the mountain, going to get our GMRS act together, and have like a repeater. Yeah, that's what we're going to do. We're going to have a repeater, a 50 watt repeater, that's going to, we'll be able to communicate for quite a ways. So that's our big communication plan here. I just thought I'd come on in and tell you, you know, training number one. You can never go wrong with that. Learn a new skill, practice it till you get it down, and say, yeah, I can do that. Because even if you end up in a FEMA camp, like in Sarah Halfway's novels, you have a skill that you bring with.

17:36Yeah. Number two, take advantage of any one of these deals that the intrepid commanders get and because clock's ticking on this. And then number three, the push to talk radios. It's a Skycom PTT. Okay, I rambled on enough. We're doing rabbits. We're getting rabbits. Well, we got rabbits. We got two more rabbits, another mom and another dad. So we're expanding our rabbits. Last year, we didn't keep rabbits over the winter. We're going to, you know, El Nino them. We have summer home for the rabbits, and we have a winter home for the rabbits. So we're going to put everybody in the winter home. We may even put some in the greenhouse. Yes, they'll be in out of the cold and they'll generate some heat for the greenhouse. And just an idea.
