2:07I know we're recording this prior to the finale on Sunday. So there's no doubt in my mind that he's going to make us look foolish in this game. But you can't help but admit how amazing it was to watch this man do what he did last night with a walk-off home run. You and I sitting at bar together. We weren't enjoying ourselves. Pretty much writing off the ninth inning and at least had extra innings to look forward to. But what we didn't know what we had to look forward to was Paven Smith proving a lot of people wrong once again. I look actually I take back the once again. I'll just say proving a lot of people wrong in that at that. Hitting a walk-off home run for the Diamondbacks league leading MLB leading sixth walk-off home run of the year. Yeah, the ginger assassin man. Doing the damn thing.

3:08Doing the damn thing. You know what I can't help but think of is that. The Diamondbacks tend to do this thing where. They have. A lot of. You know they have a lot of guys that are like Jake McCarthy right where they struggled here. We see them go elsewhere. They find their footing and you're giving wrong. It's. It's a lot of people that. You know that there there's been plenty of players that haven't gone elsewhere. Absolutely. If another team. What have picked Paven Smith up when he was designated for assignment. We would be screaming. And. Riding. Oh yeah. And. Burning downtown to the ground potentially. Because he's been.

4:08Actually quite good. Now it's a small sample size. That's only. Only six games since he's returned to the major league lineup. But Rocky's hitting 333. Slashing 333. 333 on base percentage. 800 slug for a 1.133 OPS. He has three extra base hits. Two of which are home runs. He has four RBI. And five hits total in 15 played appearances. Yeah, Paven motherfucker Smith is an absolute conundrum broke because like he's had. All right. A lot of opportunities for opportunity after opportunity and. Absolutely. I. When he got the Fader this year. I was like well, that's that's Paven's run. And then when nobody picked them up and he went back to Reno and then. When I saw the announcement come through that paid Miss Midgore called I was like wait what? What? And I. I follow the Reno a. So I had seen he had been doing his thing down there. But. Sure. You know, you don't know like.

5:08bigs because you got to imagine if he would have not done anything over the past few games, they probably even would have just sent him right back down or just outright just said later, dog. Like best-select to you. Like we've given you probably more chances than most guys would get. Absolutely. Absolutely. And I think a lot of fans would agree with that. I think that's why fans have grown tired of paving. That's why fans believe that he cursed this team and he has cursed his team merely with his presence. Even before last night's walkoff home run, he by far was not the worst hitter on the team. Yes, if you look at his overall 20-26 stats, that's different. I'm just talking about the small sample size since he's returned from Reno. But that doesn't change the fact that the team has performed really poorly while he's been here. And while I don't want to believe ever in things like curses or that the things I say on this show

And it's hard not to deny that the Diamondbacks have a losing record with Payvon Smith and the lineup. And a lot of that is from earlier in the season. But it's also lately lately this team when they needed to win the most have not. I mean, we've already called a wrap on this season on the show. That's all they can do is just win. That's all you can do. Exactly. They have to keep their head down and they have a win game. Yeah, they can still win this Yankee series. Again, I'm sure they're going to do something to make us look like fools because we post this at night. After the game has happened, but still beyond this series, even if they do lose today to the Yankees, they have a three game set with the Rockies. And that right there could be the not walking the part, bro. It's not, especially in Colorado, right? But I'm just saying that's the series where they could potentially potentially stack some wins against a Rockies team that literally

10:23has nothing to play for at this point. And might just might just might just want to like help a purple brother out from the division. You know what I mean? Like just help us out a little bit by not caring in that game. I'm just saying that's a very easy thing you guys could do. And let's see if maybe we can go in and make it in instead of the Philly's. I think everybody would like to see that right except Philly's fans. Everyone would like to see the Diamond Back's in instead of the Philly's. And the guy did do it. The guy to lead us there. Of course, Rock. Pave and Motherfuckin Smith. Pave and Motherfuckin Smith, man. I mean, hey, all we can hope is that they just go out there and do what they can do. I mean, it's it's simple at this point. Well, it's not simple. It's not. It's very difficult, apparently, for this team, especially this offense. But if you get guys like Pave and going, Corbin's kind of been back. Corbin's been getting some hits lately. Like, man, you know, if you if you get, could tell Marta performing a little bit better,

11:29Perdomo's been getting on base decently. Gabrielle Moreno has been great all year. Like, you just feel like if you can get one or two of these other guys hot, that that will be enough offensively to lead us to the end. Because if you get contributions from guys like Pave and Smith, and Tim Tau, and Nolan Arnato, that's just that's extra. That's the supporting cast, right? And unfortunately, lately, they've been doing it as we've talked about recently more than the guys that are big three, our big four, our big five. And that's who we need. That's who we need. We need to tell Marta to go on a run. We need Corbin Carol to get hotter than the sun. We need her although, Perdomo to do everything he's doing. But mostly it would be great to see Perdomo get back to being our risk king as he has very much not been that this year. Now you're right. You know, it's been a very inconsistent season. Topped a bottom for this team.

12:31When I especially coming off the season that Jerry had last year, I did not anticipate him having the struggles that he did. And he's been good. But if you compare him to what he was last year, like thank God, Gavin Moreno has been doing what he's doing. Because that kind of picked up some of the slack as Gabby is absolutely in us right now. He's one of the best hitters in all of baseball right now. Yeah. I mean, it's crazy. The dude is a stud, man. And you know, got to hope they can somehow find a way to lock that man down long term, although I don't know if that's going to be the case. Yeah. Yeah. I feel like if that was going to be the case, it would have already been done already. Yeah. But who knows who knows. But what we do know, Diamondbacks have a chance still. They're still alive. I mean, they're on life support. That heartbeat isn't strong, but they're still alive. And they're alive as much as many people out there hate to hear it because of Pavan Smith.
