Discover it all in Nordstrom stores and at Nordstrom.com. Look, the AFL always look down there now. Is it right, Billy? They treat us as second-class citizens. It's obvious we've got them rattled. And the figures in the fact speak for themselves. We measure ourselves on traditional metrics like people turning up to games. People watching how long they watch for. They can huff, they can puff, but they won't blow our house down. It's solid to reckon. We're going to get stronger and we're going to take some of their fans. Vosy together again. Here we are. Can't be as interesting as last week. I must say I'm watching the AFL.
I just made the comment before the news. The Rams fans seem pretty happy with their view today. No one's sitting at ground level and they seem closer to the action. They seem far more engaged. No, just that aside. Did I miss anything with the Brownlay Middle last time? Obviously, it's a massive, massive window, Nick Deikos and 23 years of age. The world is his oyster. But as an event, as a television product or something. Have I missed anything? I was there last night and it's one of the best counts I've been to. Which was a high bar because it was a total foregone conclusion. But it managed to harness the energy of Winx and Black Caviaris. We're all there cheering for one result. The more he pulled, the happier everyone was and he built his lead. It was home with three to go. Sometimes it's about a competition and sometimes it's about a coronation. And a coronation has a pretty rich place in sport. Well, across the, let's say we just put rugby league in AFL and I go back to one of the greatest things that happened was the Drawn Grand Finals.
We go all the way back to the 70s. Suddenly, you have your first Drawn Grand Final. We have our first Drawn Grand Final. I wonder whether the sun of a great winning the Brownlay Middle gets repeated in the Dalyams next week for the rugby league and the sun of not that I've been clear is quite great. But I've been clear, a cheap lady in his career. Does the sun of the father also win the feature award in the NRL? Wouldn't that be a little bit of synergy? It is, you're right. It's uncanny how often there are echoes across our codes. So it is worth his, Nick Daycrosses in his fifth year. He's played a hundred and eighteen odd games. He's talking about on stage. He's got this lovely reference to when I was young. You're still going. Tell over the 23 year old on stage. He has won the lot inside five years and he stands at the summit of our code, which is, I'm always marvel at the capacity of the game to regenerate its talent.
And this is true in every sport. For it to regenerate so quickly here and have a 23 year old now, the undisputed number one player in the game is pretty phenomenal. And the fact that he carries the name of one of the most fondly thought of players. So Peter Daycrosses was a, he was a marvel. He was a genius. He got the ball to bend in ways that had never been done before. Phenomenally popular. And then he has two sons who play and one, it's just, I mean, to be better than the father, it's breathtaking. As I say, it's not quite apples with apples with respect to Ivan Cleary, comparing the Nathan situation with his dad. But where we could have something is a first time Premier. Now Dolphins are in that category. And you know, a newbie, a new team relatively speaking. First time ever in the finals, not just going for a premiership.
They are a massive chance. Friday night. Packed house at some call Dolphins or Queensland's team. And I know you could say, well, there's two ways of synergy. You could have a Brisbane team and a Queensland rugby team winning the comp. But I'm going to go with the first premiership line. Who do you think, like, some people are telling me Brisbane's across the line. I would want to have a look at that. No. So can I first things first with the Dolphins? So this matters across code. So this is year four. Yeah. Yeah. We're all expanding at the moment. Yep. So to be in preliminary finals in year four, outstanding. And I think to be studied a little bit. So free mantle season 32. Second time to the grand final. I haven't won it yet. So these are the extremes of it. Aren't they? It illustrates how hard they are to win as you're trying to build your club. Now, I think Brisbane are your pen- a pen- a- a pen- a- a pen- a- they are the- they're the champs. Yep. So they take so much beating and their level of excellence is sustained and their talent is unparalleled.
The question for them will be, can they- have they got four quarters left in them on this- this is not just one campaign. They are playing 27 games a season, three years in a row, so more than anybody else. Have they got the full four quarters left in them? Yeah. I suspect if they do, they win. It wouldn't surprise. If they ran out of gas halfway through the third quarter and we sat in a Monday and went, Oh, well of course they ran out of gas. That's possible. So I wouldn't discount free-mattle in any way. Now, Jared, I said you're saying the program, the Locky Neal Incident, the Gut Punch, would not have knocked a maggot off a chop. How can that cost you, A Grand Final? Yeah, it's one of the weakest cases I've seen go up. But I've said this this morning, but I see, I'm quite surprised. So try not to be overly surprised with the layer of feedback that comes through. There's an appetite to have this player suspended from this Grand Final, which I suspect owes to, frankly, Chetanon is wife.
It has nothing to do with football in the view of, that's what I think is coming through. And there are people who are inventing what they think they can see in the vision. And I actually think that the MRO has done that. I think he's extrapolated what happened there rather than judging. So yeah, that doesn't meet the threshold for me, but I shouldn't be surprised. There are a lot in the AFL community are just going, no, no, this is a straight up one week suspension. There we go. So you're stuck with that. We've got our own controversies at the moment of referees. Like one of our top two referees, that's Glign last week. Doesn't make it call last minutes of worry as a knight. It's could have or would have sent the game to extra time. He's now gets dropped. So we almost have, we play like a game show with our referees, not your own pies, but it's almost like last band standing. It is a joke of assist. I can't defend it, Jared. I cannot defend the sacking if he's one of our best two referees last week and makes a mistake that we just, we play this a liminator, this game of survivor.
I think it's going to end the grand final day. What if they both have howler moments this weekend, do they get dropped in? Do we go to the fourth choice? Have you got to have a scalp? Have you got to have a scalp? Hayden made the big call at the end, holding the ball, which was not only correct, it was mandatory. And he selected for the grand final. Andrew Dillon was just in the studio saying he's in the grand final because he made the call that the game needed. The biggest challenge in these moments for referees and unpies is to do what must be done rather than shirk. You know, I do think if you shirk it, you don't have business being in the next big game. You have to be, you have to stand your ground if it's the dead obvious. Shirk or mistake, shirk or make mistakes. There is a clear difference there. Like a not the margin call. It's the one where it's in front of you and you go, I know this is a free kick and you don't have the courage to pay it. That's out. If you can't meet the moment and what the game demands,
they're out. So I don't mind that side of it. So we have a problem together this week. The pelting of referees and unpies with bottles. What the Hawthorne fans did is they behaved like a wrestling crowd, at the end of that game. And through projectiles out under the field and kids have been hit, one ended up in hospital, the woman was hit, you can see it on the vision, so this is, and it's not that these are necessary confrontations. How do you get the buy-in of our sporting communities in the moments of maximum controversy, rage, call it whatever you ask, that we don't degenerate to this. But how is it possible? I have gone to sport all my life and at no point, like you may yell out things, but it wouldn't be slanderous.
But to actually do that, one, you're a coward, two, you're a criminal. Like you're a criminal. It's a criminal act to throw a projectile. There's nothing fun about it. There's nothing funny about it. I don't know what we do, like, and I know, we are pitch invaders. The throw of a cans worth an a pitch invader. For mine, do you name and shame? What is the process here? Do we just move on, or we never hear the light of day? But would name and shame have any impact or zet then bring notoriety to it? Maybe. But more people do it. We're just in this, this quandary, but it's such a bad look. It's horrid, Jared. And Kevin's it doesn't happen too often. So I think you're horrible. You have to sanction. Yes. Of course, yeah. And you want to be heavy with the sanction. Now, how practical it is doesn't, that doesn't interest me in the slightest. It's the, no, no, if you do this, you're going to get banned for five years.
Now, if you're able to sneak into games, that's not the point. The point is that you are going to be singled out and banned. So that the next time around, we don't get to the, you just can't be throwing stuff on the field. You can't be throwing stuff at the Umpires. It's lifetime ban. I mean, I know this is that sound. Oh, how are you going to do that? Well, it does. It has to be in this world where there's algorithms and all of that. If your name pops up, trying to buy a ticket to anything. This Friday returned to theaters for a dangerous end game on core. I know I said no surprises. I've never really hoped to pull off one last one. Reassemble the team. Sixth on. Three teams. One shot. Relive the experience. The last real time. Time attends the next pack. The story continues. Tell me this is the second chance. Jolness, model studios. Avengers end game on core early theaters Friday. Get tickets now. Really beat you to the team. Maybe an appropriate for children at 13. You're not getting in.
You're not getting into MCJ. You're not getting into Marvel. You're not getting into a core if you get on other city. You're not getting to opt to Sim Perth. You are on. You're going to red flag next to your name like your passport. Try to get out of a country if you had criminal offense. Is that where we go? Is that possible? I don't think it's such an extreme. But I don't have the technology to do it. But I think someone would. They should be on a band list everywhere. Who would complain about that? No. I would be wrong with that. That's right. Everywhere. You couldn't mount the counterargument to it. Yeah. And if it kept you out of something fine. It's just not a moment you can absorb and be confident that it's a one off. You have to make the serious step and hand out sanction wherever is possible. Hey, can I just want to share something with you? Is Andrew Dylan Chief Executive of the AFL was in the studio? I think we're ready to claim the number one mantle back. I think that's right. I mean, it's just truly national.
Yeah, we had the last five teams in the competition were representing the five states that currently have clubs. So it's a good advertisement for the game. But again, it's the fans coming through the gates and watching these incredible players play. 97,000 had 45,000 seller out at the S&G. Games that were out of your games again on the weekends. I buy every metric that matters now. But it's actually sorted. Your pretense has been the number one sporting code in the country is over. Well, I can hang my head on this work as well. I don't think Nelson us a Barcelona and Paul Galen are fighting anywhere bus. I'll tell you that. No, but you can have that every day. I've got a big sport. No, I've never been. But November 6th, get on board folks, get on the bandwagon. It's going to be huge. Paul Galen coming at a retirement to fight. Big Nelson us a Barcelona. Where do I go with it? Gerard Arwell, Sydney Swans bit the dust. You've got a grand final between Brisbane and Freeman or at the MCG. You've got Kylie Manoglocked in. What's your favorite Kylie song? What's your favorite Kylie song?
Well, she just hung in there. Oh, no, no. Oh, no. What's the first song? No. I couldn't feel it going like a motion. Yeah, like a motion. No. Like a motion. There we go. All the way back to when she was the girl next door. So we have no one, Gerard. The NRL is two weeks from the grand final. Inside two weeks. We don't even have Shepard. We joke about Shepard. We don't even have a Geronimo. Like, what's got to, what's happened? It is. It is marked on the calendar. You do know the grand final is going to be on Sunday week. I don't know what's happened there. I don't know. They're making it very hard for me this segment. I've got nothing to throw back at you. Nothing. I come loaded with nothing. I have nothing for you, Gerard. What risk? So the Empressario now, Peter Velandis, got the vote necessary to be the executive chair. That's it. What risk with ultimate power? Yeah. This is a very interesting point. I say this, it is not the governance that can be written into a constitution forever
and a day, but right at the moment it does work with the figure. But I'm thinking of all the leaders we've had would I want them, you know, different chairman to have the same powers? No. So I don't want a constitutional change. It locks this in forever and a day, but right at the moment he has that many credit points. He has that many runs on the board. Then I'm going with it and obviously has the majority support of the club. So I reckon you're going to watch from afar and see and if he makes, I don't know what you define as a mistake, but if something goes wrong, I think the criticism will be, oh, you shouldn't have done this anyway. Like that'll be, but I don't think he will. I think and may I say, I mean, Hachi asked me the same question. I think our Patreon here at SEM, Hachi is a bit of a land, he's a bit of Hachi is a bit of Hachi and Vlandis crash or crash through in this day and age, Jared, gets my admiration,
gets my vote. In fact, I'm saying I want our politicians to be a bit like that. You know, like, no, I'm on board with Peter Vlandis, but I'm not saying I want this always to be the case. I think he is the right man, but there's been very few as qualified as Peter Vlandis along the way. Other key voices in rugby league. Happy to criticize Peter Vlandis. Yes, and no, I'm going to say yes. We have never had anyone tell us that we can't do this on the show. I have and I work as you know, I work for Fox league and I work for here. We are told at times let's pump this up. Well, quite obviously because we want more people to watch. We want more people to go. We want more people interested, but I've never been told, don't say something. You know what I mean? Like we are open. I'm sure Peter Vlandis watches NRL 360 and hates it. You're looking at the negative rather than the positive. So now I'm happy to roll with it.
I'm happy to live in this era, Jared and see where we go, the greatest sport in Australia and the little engine that could worldwide rugby league. Me and rock. Locking them down. You know, we're going to know the viewers one at a time. They're in Vegas. They get one every year. The Emperor. Peter Vlandis. Yeah. Tokyo two years time, Jared. We're in Tokyo. Lock it in. Yeah. I hope that Kong will be there as well. That part of it's very cool. You know, I won't fight with you on that. That part of it's very cool. I do think there's a huge risk to unchallenged power in any walk of life. And I wonder what it will look like with with rugby league. Or a great man, Peter Vlandis. What's your dream pairing? What's your dream, grandfinal pairing from here? Well, I'm saying have the first time in there. I'm having the dolphins there. And the other side, you get the mighty champion pen. This is just such an amazing era. But I also like the idea of last the first Newcastle, Wooden Spooners. Could not be time with a stick last year.
And now are in the final four. They are working class town. They've had injuries and here they are a week away from the grandfinal. But I'll slot in dolphins, V Penruth, Newbies, V, the greatest team of this time. And look me in for Brisbane. I'll say, sorry, Fremantle. We have immortality either way, then. The three-peat lines would be just the second team in history to do it twice. As a club. And it's different to the last time because these are a long way apart. These are different generations. And Fremantle for the first time, which will be so thrilling after their 32 years in the competition. So yeah, it's stacked either way. But the real winner will be Kylie. I think this will be an absolute showstopper. Yes. Well, she does like emotion there. When she does like emotion. That's it. That's it. That's it. No. Very jealous, mate. Good luck with the singing budgie.
And Jared, a cowboy, too. We talk next week. I'll see you next week. Cheers, mate. This Friday, return to theaters for Avengers Endgame Encore. I know. I said no surprises. I've never really helped him. Go off one last one. Reassemble the team. Sixth on. Three teams. One shot. Relive the experience. In that short time, time tends to mess back. The story continues. Tony, this is the second chance. Don't miss. Model studios. Avengers Endgame Encore, early theaters Friday. Get to get to now. We need to beat your team. Maybe in a trophy for children at 13. Before this. There's this. As you celebrate the game, take a deeper look at its roots. The people grow in the grass. They've in the lots. Weld in the goalposts. Inspecting every football.
