Cowboys Cut Milton, Bring in Howell | NFL News

The Dallas Cowboys stunned fans by cutting Joe Milton—despite initial roster hopes—after revealing his shaky accuracy and bringing in Sam Howell as a safer, more reliable backup. With preseason games looming, the team’s focus is clear: evaluate both QBs under pressure, but prioritize stability over flash. Milton may still dazzle occasionally, but Howell’s role is set as the dependable “bus driver” ready to step in if Dak Prescott goes down. The clock is ticking—and the Cowboys are betting on consistency over chaos.
