Cocaine Hidden in Barbie Dolls at Missouri Store

0:00It's March 24th. From your city to your ears, this is Kansas News Today, powered by AI. Policing Independence, Missouri, recovered five Barbie dolls from a discount store after finding cocaine with trace amounts of fentanyl hidden in. They're packaging. The drugs were taped inside the back of the boxes, but the dolls themselves were clean. Investigators believe someone placed the substances there on purpose. Four employees at Cargo Largo spotted the suspicious powder around 10.30am on Saturday and called police right away. A quick field test suggested fentanyl at first, but lab results confirmed it was mostly cocaine. Officers traced the batch and made sure all five dolls were pulled from shells by 5.10pm that day. The store acted fast, sharing details with local and national authorities. Police think this matches tactics used by drug groups to sneak narcotics into everyday items. No one got hurt and only those five toys were affected. On Monday, a police canine unit swept the store and warehouse, finding nothing else.
