My friend SM 這完位相當 lukewarm Let me hear it loud and proud. Come on, Chiefs, let's top it up. Top it up, top it up. Come on, Chiefs, let's top it up. Top it up, top it up. We're the Chiefs, we're proud. We're the Chiefs, we're now. We're the Chiefs, we're proud. We're the Chiefs, we're now. What's going on, everyone? Welcome into this episode of The Chiefs on Podcasts. Farzim was seeking here with you on a Monday night. It is the first victory Monday of the season. The Chiefs started their season seven days ago. Start out with a win on Monday night football. And of course, the Chiefs went back to being the Kansas City Chiefs of old, where they give you these stressful victories, taking all 70 minutes last night against the Colts. A win is a win, though. Wins are not easy to come by in the NFL,

and the Chiefs are two and a half. Yeah, so we are here to talk about that. And really what the Chiefs looked like through to games and what do we expect moving forward? Andy Reed had his press conference today where he talked about a couple of the injuries that the Chiefs are dealing with right now, specifically, monster delaying, as well as Josh Simmons. He, Andy Reed gave probably the most detailed answer on monster, I'm sorry, on Josh Simmons so far. Let me just tell you, it is actually, I mean, you're, people have been asking, what's going on? What's the timeline? When can we expect him to be back? I think you might actually get your answer to that based off what he said. So I think if, um, on my settings should be fine.

Andy provided a pretty, pretty good update, I thought. So we'll get into that very shortly. Also touch on some other things here on this episode of the Chiefs on Podcast. Appreciate you all joining me tonight. Got a lot to get into here on this episode of the Chiefs on Podcast. A lot to talk about. Monday night football is gonna be starting up as well. I thought, Ram's gonna win. I mean, Fulke, Nuku was not active. It should be, should be an interesting night. By the way, I am not digging that uniform combo. The, the goal jerseys in the white pants. No, that's not, that's not me. I do not like that combination there. But it should be interesting. I know some people are pushing back with the whole Matt Naggy thing, because I said to, by the way, Matt McMullen, who, uh, covers the Chiefs for the team's website,

he put out a stat today, how the Chiefs had more than 500 yards of total offense for the first time since 2022. And I responded to that. I said, man, what a massive coincidence. The last time the Chiefs had more than 500 yards in a game, was when Eric, the enemy was asked the offensive coordinator. And what do you know, Eric, the enemy's the offensive coordinator again. And I got a couple pushbacks. Oh, no, it has to do with the injury utilizing a run game. I mean, listen, we have to graduate. Everyone has short-term memory on these things. We need to graduate from the thought that Isaiah Pacheco was a bum for Kansas City all four years. Because Isaiah Pacheco's first two seasons in Kansas City were great. I mean, there's a reason why Chiefs fans were talking so much about his decline the last two years with the injury and just how slow he looks since he came back

from that ankle injury. And Kansas City's run game, yes, is far more explosive now than it's been before. But to act like, I don't understand some of the pushbacks some of you guys have on Eric, the enemy or Brett Veech. I look at the same people who are excited about Emmett Johnson and some of the flashes he has given us in two games so far are the same ones that are always heavily critical about damn near everything with Brett Veech. It's like some, some people just cannot be satisfied ever it feels like. And I got this comment again from someone as if we have not gone through this for the 100th time. I am very well aware the offense of coordinator, whether it's Bienemy or Nagy, is they're not the play caller in Kansas City. I'm aware of that. That doesn't mean the offense of coordinator

has zero influence on how the offense operates. And I think some people need to come to terms that the last three years, Matt Nagy played a big hand in Kansas City struggles. I mean, do I need to show this to you guys again? If I can pull it up and not take forever on this, here it is. This is not an accident. This is not a coincidence. Look at Patrick Maholmes, touchdown interception numbers. I mean his interception numbers haven't really changed that much. But the touchdown numbers are severely low. Now 2019 Maholmes had 26 touchdowns. That's because he played much fewer games, a couple fewer games, two and a half games less because of the knee injury. But more so, look at the right side of your screen,

total offense and point scored and yards. That is a massive drop off there. Like these are, I'm just giving you guys the numbers here. Like what you are seeing from the chiefs. I think Eric Bienne me and also Chad O'Shea, DeMarco Murray, I think they have a big impact. Look, I said this last night and I'll say it again. There are three things right now that are having a positive influence on this chiefs team. And I think especially on the wide receivers, yesterday, was it the best night for the wide receivers? No, far from it. But did I think last night was a step towards improvement compared to Monday night football with the wide receivers? Yes, your running game, the offensive coordinator and the other assistants such as Chad O'Shea, DeMarco Murray, I think are having a big impact

on this football team offensively, especially with the wide receivers. So I don't get some of the pushback that, oh no, this wasn't a naggy issue. Eric Bienne me is just, you know, things did not work for him in Washington and UCLA. I can't care less about that. Amani Jones said it perfectly back in January. When the chiefs, you know, it was evident that they were gonna part ways with Naggy and look for a new offensive coordinator. He mentioned that, okay, Bienne me was not somebody significant in Washington or in UCLA, fine. And by the way, those two places were not Bienne me issues. By the way, look at Washington. I mean, they have a new coach and a new quarterback. You think that had anything to do with Bienne me?

Whoever you think is the best offensive coordinator in NFL history, go have him coach Sam Howell. Where is it? Let me Google Sam Howell. I have no idea where Sam Howell is. Can anyone tell you where Sam Howell is without looking it up? I think I have before and I just don't even remember. So ever since Washington let him go, he went to Seattle. He once had been to soda did not make their team, their main roster, then the Eagles and now he's the backup for Dak Prescott and Dallas. I could not have told you that. I mean, if it's like life or death and I have to tell you what team is he on right now, I'm sorry, it's over. Like I would not be able to tell you where Sam Howell is. UCLA, I mean, the year after the offense got worse and DeShon Foster got fired. But anyway, the point is, Monty Jones point was, he might have not been anyone at those two places but he was certainly somebody in Kansas City. And look, I don't like to go over team rankings

too much right now. I think it's a little early, but my goodness, it's a little hard to not get excited about the fact that some guys like Kenneth Walker, he's right now the league leader and rushing yards, total yards from Scrimmage and force missed tackles. He has 29 force missed tackles. Now, some of these websites measure these stats a little differently. Pro football focus says that Kenneth Walker has 25 force missed tackles. Next year and stats says it's 29. Okay, I'm not here to argue the difference between 25 and 29 missed tackles or force missed tackles. That what I am here to tell you is Kenneth Walker is kicking ass right now. And his presence is making a big difference. And I talked about this last night with Kenneth Walker. My biggest fear with him is that, you might be, you might be overworkin' him a bit much.

Now Andy Reid said today in his press conference that Walker is not someone that wants, you know, to be a leaveeator any of that, what is Andy Reid gonna say? Of course, he's not gonna say that in week two of all times. But I'm hoping that with the flashes we've seen from EJ, that with the flashes we've seen from EJ, that he eventually gets used more often after the by week. Cause if you wanna give Kenneth Walker 20, 30 touches a game until the by week, which is very early this season, it's in week five, I don't have any issues with that. Because once the by weeks here, I think the one player that's earned it more than anyone else will be Walker followed by the offensive line and all the run blocking they've been doing. So those certainly have earned it. But man, I just think that this is a chief's team

that has really picked it up. How much better is the chief's offense now? Again, like I said, I don't wanna get into team rankings too much right now because it's early. I told you guys, I feel like week three, that's the good place after week three is completely over. That's one we can actually look at standings, stats, who's a league leader in rushing yards, passing yards, all these things. But I'm breaking my rule right now, man. The chief's right now, they're number one in total offense. They've got 457 yards per game. Buffalo is at 427. Now let's see how this game goes between Dallas and, I'm sorry, not Dallas, I was looking at that poll question. They're Kelsey has a few, I don't know what that was about. I'd be interested in looking back and seeing what that was about between LA and New York.

But I don't think anyone's gonna surpass the number one spot. So you have the chiefs, they're number one in total yards. They're number three in point scored right now. Oh, that sounds like what it looked like when Eric Biennemy was here. That's not a coincidence. Once again, Thomas says K9 has more, 80 more yards than anyone else in the league right now. Yeah. Like Kenneth Walker is not just leading the league in these categories, I get it's early, but he is leading by a wide margin right now. Again, I know I'm breaking my rule here, but it's a little hard to not get excited about these things. So not only do the chief's right number one in total offense with yards, they're fifth in passing, second in rushing, and they are fourth in total defense. I wanna be honest with you, I would love it if he replaced Andy Reed,

and now we don't know when Andy Reed's gonna step away from the game. We're thinking that it might be time in a year or two, But I'm just gonna tell you this right now. When you look at this chart right here and just look at the right side of your screen, don't worry about Patrick Mahomes' career stats. Just look at the right side of your screen. If the chiefs go back to being a top six team in point scored and total offense, Eric B. Animes should immediately be contacted by every NFL team that's looking for a head coach for next season. Like there is no reason why B. Animes should be an offensive coordinator as a chiefs fan, I don't want him to leave. Like I think we are learning right now just how valuable Eric B. Animes was. And listen, I was actually excited for Matt Nagy to get a second chance as an offensive coordinator because I liked what Nagy did his first stint as an OC. Unfortunately, this team was nowhere close to what it was before and I don't really understand why. I mean, Nagy was the OC before

and there were not drops back then. This offense just could not operate with Nagy in his second term as offensive coordinator of the chiefs. But what I will say right now, if this chiefs team stays in the top five or six in total offense with point scored and yardage, Eric B. Animes should immediately be a head coach as soon as can't see season comes to an end, which hopefully is after the Super Bowl. But man, like that's just me objectively speaking on this. As a fan, I don't want him to go anywhere. I think like if you were anyone that was on the fence or against Eric B. Animes coming back back in January, fine. If you're still in that same area today, okay, I got it it's early, but the chiefs in two games offensively look way better than the last three years. How many times did the chief surpass the 30 point mark

last season, only one time, or I'm sorry, three times. Chiefs have already done it twice in two weeks. The running game already has more explosive runs this year than last year. I mean, we are talking a night in day difference. I mean, if you were going to look up on Google some of these terms, the definition of night in day, you should see a picture of a chart that shows the chiefs run game from last year and the run game this year. That is the literal textbook definition of night in day. That's how big of a difference it is. And I've seen some people say, man, I wish Karim Hunt was still here, especially, and I get it, people have an emotional attachment to him and what he's been through and all of that, getting a second chance, making the most of it. But the thing I always point to is as great as the guy as Karim Hunt was, the best in the NFL last year

in third and one and fourth and one situations, a running back's got to do much more than that. I mean, we saw Kenneth Walker do some good in that last week. Last night, yeah, the one right before the jail in Royal touchdown, certainly not the case. But I think that gets better as the season goes on. You have Kyrie's tongue for it. I like for Hunt to get a Super Bowl, but I don't know, that seems like it's unlikely at the moment. By the way, I gotta address something. On the jail in Royal's touchdown play, this is how funny people are with their hatred for the chiefs. To the point where they do not know the rules, like literally do not know the simplest rules on an eligible man down field. Because someone pulled up a screenshot of a fans video of the jail in Royal's touchdown, and they showed Mike Kelliendo, the backup offensive guard for the chiefs. He is like clearly in the middle of the end zone when the ball is already out of my home's hands. Folks, Mike Kelliendo entered as an eligible receiver.

He was an extra offensive lineman at tight end. Again, if you hate the chiefs, like, find hate on the chiefs, but if you do not know the rules, there's a difference between hating on the chiefs and just not knowing the rules. You just don't know the rules. But everyone just wants to go over all of their hatred and that because that fits their narrative. I had someone try to argue with me that Daniel Jones, and I know Adam Schaefftore even said this morning, which I thought was weird, that if the hit from Jaden Hicks to Daniel Jones, which I will say Jaden Hicks has to be seriously careful on that, because that call could have gone either way. But someone was trying to tell me that, that was a late hit out of bounds. If it was my home's, it would have been called a penalty. And I pulled up the screenshot. You can clearly see the contact when Daniel Jones is still in bounds. But again, it doesn't fit people's narratives. I get it, you know, as a chiefs fan that watched

New England dominate for 18 years, my hope was, when will Kansas City ever look like that? And Damien, why can't my favorite team just have that kind of success ever? And you know, people had to all their theories about New England and the league helping them. Meanwhile, New England fans thought it was the opposite. The league hated them all these years. So, but that's not the here nor there. Daniel asked a really good question here. Is Canine getting used too much? Right now, I suppose not. And I said this last night on the podcast. If this was a game in December, and I'm considering the chiefs had two possessions and overtime, but, if this was a game in December, I'd be very concerned. I think to myself, man, Canine might not be available

for you in the post season. You just got to make sure you're not wearing him out. Cause I've always said, you know, once Thanksgiving arrives, that is when the playoff race heats up. And I want Kansas City to make sure that they've got a fully healthy and a fully fueled Canine for the long haul. I mean, that stretch from Thanksgiving to the first week of January, that's when the playoff race really heats up. And right now, Kansas City's off to a great start. So far, and I know a lot of people will mention that the Raiders have not beaten any good teams. They beat two Oh and two teams, but right now, Kansas City's biggest competition is the Raiders. And by the way, if both the chiefs, if the chiefs beat the dolphins this week, and the Raiders beat these Saints on Sunday, the chiefs and the Raiders are gonna be undefeated teams. They're both gonna be three and a, going into week four.

Wow, I don't, I don't think anybody was expecting that conversation. And let's, let me just say about the Raiders. Not that we ever want to compliment the black and silver while I do like their stadium and their uniforms. Look, I'm not a fan of taking credit away from teams when they win. I'm just not. For anyone that wants to say, oh, well, the Raiders haven't beaten anyone. Okay, did you have them going to and out before the season? I sure as hell did not. I don't even think the most blind Raiders home were. What have I expected that with full confidence? I mean, I had the, I had the, I had the Raiders beating the dolphins, but I sure as hell thought the Chargers were gonna bounce back. And I'm telling you right now, if the Chargers cannot play well, I mean, they got thrashed by the Raiders and the Cardinals. If that's how the Chargers look at home in their first two games, it's about to be a really long season for the Chargers moving forward.

It like a really, really long season. Let me just pull up the Charger schedule real quickly here because it is absolutely brutal. They got Buffalo on the road. I'm, I mean, you guys know on my picks, I have a lock of the week. That's my lock of the week. I'll just tell you that right now. Then you visit Seattle. That might also be my lock of the week. I don't know. I might have the Chargers losing as my lock and back to back weeks. Then you've got Denver that showed some life last night, or yesterday rather, then you visit the chiefs in week six. Kansas City has a really good chance to send the Chargers, oh, and six going into the by-week. And my goodness, I'm concerned that Jim Harboh might not make it through the season at this point. On by the way, who do you visit after the by-week? The Rams. Good luck with that. Now I say visit, but they both share the same stadium.

Then you've got the Texans. My AFC champion pick is not looking so hot right now. In fact, I think I might like to resend that and replace it with Kansas City, if I'm being honest with you guys. But I will say this, Houston's defense looked way better yesterday, but the offense, I still have a lot of concerns about. Then you play Baltimore. I mean, Derek Henry's just gonna run all over that team. So, Lamar Jackson, your first win might come against the jets. When is Thanksgiving this year? I don't have the date in front of me. Thanksgiving is on the 24th. Yeah, your first win might come on the week of Thanksgiving. No, I'm sorry, the 26th Thanksgiving, but you got the idea. Yeah, the Chargers might not win anytime soon. Like if I had to tell you right now, when their first win will come, it's either week 11 against the jets,

or maybe week 16 against Miami. I mean, we knew they had a tough schedule. I thought, listen, I'm not one of those people that I thought that the Chargers were the best team in the AFC. I still had some expectations from Justin Herbert and the Chargers, because listen, let me just say this, not the Duel of Lassier too much, but the Chargers got through last year with a bad offensive line. They made it to the playoffs. And I thought to myself, if Justin Herbert can have a healthy offensive line, this will be a really good season for him. He's got a healthy offensive line, and they're not doing well. Joe all's off to a terrible start this season. But that's too bad. Yeah, 0 and 10, 0 and 9. Yeah, that might not look, is Harbock getting fired soon? Yeah, I don't know. That's gonna be a really rough season for the Chargers.

You know, it's already a weird season when the Raiders have a better record than the Chargers and the Broncos. That's how kind of, that's the type of season it's been. All right, let's get into the Josh Simmons update because I know a lot of people are wondering what's going on with Josh Simmons. Here's how I wanna start this. Let me just play for you what Andy Reid said earlier today. Earlier today, he was asked about Josh Simmons. This was his answer, listen to it. We've seen him sum around the locker room. Can you just give us a sense of where he's at there? Like is he in meetings with you guys? Is he around? That's sort of thing. Yeah, no, he's doing everything. He's working his tail off. It's just, you know, we knew it would be a couple two, three, four games in here as long as he was making progress.

So we'll just see where he's at. He's kind of in that flex area there to see, see exactly how that thing's, if it's calm down and some of the swelling gone down, but we'll see. Okay, let me play this part one more time. Just this part right here. Two, three, four, a couple, two, three, four games in here. You know, we knew it would be a couple, two, three, four games in here. Okay, so Andy reads telling, that's the biggest update I have heard from Andy Read on Josh Simmons. Because Floria was talking about how he is in meetings and all these things. And I don't know how much of that was agent driven, but Andy Read just told you that they knew that it would be two, three, or four games.

Oh boy. Let me just say this. A lot of you guys might be wondering if it's that many games, why is he not on IR? I think the chiefs want to save how many designation to return from IR that they can use. But here's my thing. And I'll just say right now, I actually had a back injury last year. And let me just tell you, it's a pain in the ass. It really is. And I'm not even a professional athlete. And the injury I dealt with was not fun at all. But what I will say is this. And for anyone that's listening to my commentary on Josh Simmons for the first time, I'm not one of those people that thinks Josh Simmons just decided to take a vacation

for four weeks and came back whenever he felt like it. I truly do believe there was a family emergency that he had to attend to. I don't think anyone just leaves their family for or leaves their job for four weeks and then chooses to come back whenever. And I've given this example before. Look at Savannah Guthrie, the host of, I'm sorry, I don't watch this show. Is it good morning, America or the today show? One of those shows. She was gone for two months. Now, everyone knows why. It's because her mother was kidnapped and there's very little evidence for investigators to use in that investigation. They've been begging and pleading with the public on this. So she was gone for two months, understandably. So we don't know why Simmons was gone. And because people feel obligated to know about someone else's personal business, have you not seen some of the comments on Travis Kelsey's social media? People are commenting saying post pictures of your wedding.

As if Travis Kelsey and Taylor Swift have any obligation to you about when they should drop pictures or photos or videos of their wedding. People always seem to want to be in someone else's business. They seem to have that obligation in their heads. I don't know one of those people that thinks that he's just choosing not to play right now. If Josh Simmons truly was not practicing because he didn't feel like it, first of all, how would that make sense? Why would this guy go through voluntary OTAs in May and June? And then just suddenly not want to practice in the final week of training camp. How does that any of that make sense? This guy's a first round draft pick. He knows that he's got serious upside, serious potential. If he plays great for three, four years, he can earn himself a big contract. Why would he jeopardize that?

That makes no sense. So I'm not going to do this whole BS of, oh, he doesn't like football, his heart's not in it. And I'm not doing that. That's silliness. People did this with the injury last year with Jalen Royals. He dealt with a knee injury early on. My goodness, man, people have viscerated this guy, not to the level of Josh Simmons, but I saw all these comments, oh, why can't he play? He needs to toughen up and play Tim Grunhard right before the season, a week before the season. He was talking about the Simmons injury and he indicated that this is not him not wanting to play football. This is like he didn't use the word serious injury, but Grunhard indicated that this is a legit thing he's dealing with. And it's not something you can just tough out. Grunhard indicated that this is a serious injury. Yeah, I believe that. Andy Reed kind of just confirmed that by saying that they knew he'd be out for his Andy Reed's words, not mine. Two, three, four games. So if someone's out for four games, I consider that a serious injury.

It's not a short term injury. It's not long term either. I mean, you're missing a quarter of the season. So I believe that he is dealing with some serious back injury right now. I believe that. Now, here's a discussion. I will gladly entertain with all of you guys. Do the chiefs need to look for a new left tackle. And listen, Benson, I don't think he has been perfect for a guy that's never played left tackle before. But he certainly not as bad as I was worried of him being giving that he was undrafted and has never played left tackle before. My whole thing is this. And I said this last week, my new deadline on Josh Simmons is the Wednesday after the by-week. So the Wednesday getting ready for the Chargers in week six.

If he's not practicing, I have a serious question as to whether or not this guy is reliable to be available long term. Somebody was telling me on social media a couple of days ago, well, what about the fact that he had a couple of freak accidents with his teammates, Kareem Hut running into his wrist. I think he had another friendly fire collision at Ohio State with his knee. I don't remember exactly what it was. Look, man, here's my thing. Friendly fire injuries are never fun. They've happened in Kansas City a couple of times with Rashi, Rice, and Patrick Mahomes and the Travis, Kelsey, and Xavier worthy. I mean, no one likes to see those things. But here's the fact of the matter with all this. Josh Simmons has not been available for you much. He has missed what, 18 games now, 17, 18 games sit in the last three years. And this year just got started. This season is two weeks old.

And Simmons has yet to practice. He's yet to play. And right now, I truly wonder, is this someone who's going to be available for you in the long haul? I want Simmons on this seem long term. Don't get me wrong. This guy's very talented left tackle. Every now and then you'll see this guy toss a defender like a rag doll. But I just wonder the best ability is availability. Like that's just the truth of the matter. There are some very talented football players that you can find in NFL history across all the 32 NFL teams. But unfortunately, some of those guys don't ever get to reach their potential because they dealt with so many injuries. Their careers have been derailed because of injuries. And unfortunately, Simmons might be on that track right now. I'll give you one example. I don't know if you guys remember Tony Moayaki in 2010. He got off to a really good start with the chiefs. He had two

touchdowns of first three games. Remember the one handed dive in the end zone against San Francisco helping the chiefs go three and no. I thought Tony Moayaki was going to be a really good tight effort. Cancety for years to come. Unfortunately, he missed a lot of games due to injuries. And I don't think anyone wants injuries to occur. Absolutely not. But I have to have this many times, especially in a sport like football where it's very physical and violent. Injuries are part of sports in a very unforgiving way. And unfortunately, for Josh Simmons, this might be somebody who could have a short career if he's continuing to miss time because of injuries. And I've seen people say trade them while he has value. What are you going to get out of him? I don't know if the chiefs are going to get anything of value right now.

I think everyone's going to be concerned about the fact that he's constantly unavailable. There's a reason why he might have fell in the draft at the end of the first round. Look like a major steal for Kansas City. But now it's starting to look like, oh, that could be the reason why he was available at 32. So I'm not sure. Jackson, dark just got injured. Oh, boy. Let me, uh, if I can pull that up. Oh, that is not good. Oh, he's holding that left knee. Let me see if I can see what happened on this play. I mean, look, I hope, um, I hope Josh Simmons can come back because I think you need him. The chiefs have gone through a lot of left tackles and it has not been for a lack of effort. This is their 10th left tackle. Oh, shit. What a catch. Oh, no, he dropped it. But my god,

he got hit from both sides. Jesus Christ. Yeah. Oh, boy. Oh, that is not good. Listen, man, the giant, I like the giants. They've got some young talented football players on that team. Oh, that, unless I was really hoping they could have brought back one day Robinson, because I thought they were doing some good things with him last year. Uh, all right. We're coming back from commercial. This is the first replay they're showing of this. Oh, oh, oh, oh, no. Oh, his left knee. Okay, he's walking on his own power. That's good. He doesn't need help. But damn, that looked scary as hell if you're a giants fan. Boy. Yeah, I mean, listen, man, that this happens every year. We just saw it with Caleb Williams. Now,

thankfully, Caleb's injury does not look as bad as we might have thought. But Robert says thoughts on Justin Fields trade for a left tackle backup. I think you need Justin Fields for now, not because you're worried that something's going to happen to my homes, but look at what they did to the Broncos. And I told you guys, leading up to the Broncos game that you need to find ways to throw off that Denver defense. The chiefs made it look like they were going to do a toss to Fields, but it was really just, you know, a jet sweep almost to to canine. Um, I think you'll need to, I think you'll need Fields to be able to utilize him in certain trick plays. So I don't think you're going to get rid of him, but, uh, is who's a quarterback, who's in right now at QB? I know nothing about the giant Steph chart.

Uh, Oh, James Winston. I forgot. James Winston was there. Okay. All right. Well, I'm off to see how that goes. Oh, they don't even have the ball. Okay. Man, hopefully he's all right. Cause that looked brutal. Uh, was impressed with Daniel Jones considering he had an ACL injury last year. Also, yeah. I mean, listen, Daniel Jones, um, you know, he was with the giants. Uh, for a long time and it took him a while to really pick it up. I don't know if that's a coaching thing or a change of scenery, but that's, um, that's good to see where he is right now, though. Yeah, Jayden Daniels went down. Uh, I feel like there's another quarterback that got hurt. Oh, Kyler Murray. I know how that concussion, but it sounds like he's coming back. Uh, I'm not big on Kyler Murray, but we'll have to see what, what, what happens. That feels gonna snap last night. I don't believe he did. No. So well, let's see.

But anyway, uh, to wrap up the Josh Simmons conversation, uh, we all want him there. Do we not? We all do. But I do worry that his long term availability, there will be limitations and you don't draft people to, to be unavailable this much because of injury. So can't see, he might have some difficult decisions to make. In the coming days. So let's see how that goes. Uh, I think, um, we also got a little bit of an update on monster delay and Andy Reed, uh, was talking to the media today and was asked about monster delay. Now monster delaying, uh, was questionable coming into the, uh, game Sunday night and he was listed as active for the game 90 minutes before kickoff. Um, but the chiefs never played the lane. He stood it up, but didn't play a snap. And Andy Reed was asked about how he was in between, quote, in between, um, actual recovery and

readiness to play at full speed. Okay, I mean, I have to take their word on it. He was available for emergencies only, which is kind of interesting. So that's the update on monster delaying. I mean, if he was active and is available for emergencies or was available for emergencies last night, I'd like to think that he could have, he could play this week. I don't think it's urgent to have him out there and I not that you ever want to underestimate any team. But let's be honest, if you're playing Miami, I don't think you're in any hurry to get back delaying Simmons or Connor anytime soon. Delayans injury is a secret like Simmons. Uh, listen, the, let me just say this, the chiefs are always very secretive about injuries. This is not like their first time being weird or mysterious about these things. It's not

their first time. I think it's just, you know, under a microscope right now because left tackle is such an important position that Simmons and anyone else that's dealing with an injury right now, it gets talked about at a very big manner because of how important that left tackle spot is. So I don't think it has anything to do with a seek keeping guys injuries a secret this year. But it's just something that we have seen in years past for Kansas City. Roll quickly. I just want to let you know this podcast also brought to you by the chief zone live that'll be taking place on October the 17th. I'm excited for this one. All proceeds benefit the Doron Sherry foundation and you can get your tickets at Doron Sherry foundation dot org. The chief zone live October 17th at a mirror star casino. He's on his way to the locker room. That's unfortunate. Yeah, we'll have to see what the latest is going to be on that. But boy, that's for a team that, you know, has a new coach and new offensive coordinator. And a lot of young talent. I mean, they've got some really talented football players, neighbors, scataboo. Um, that's unfortunate. Hopefully, oh, boy, little shorts was getting into

a shopping match with somebody. But hopefully, uh, dark will be okay. Cause I think he's one of the quarterbacks that's got potential to do really well for many years to come in the NFL. All right, here's a question for you guys. If I had to ask you, what is one area the chiefs must improve in? From your evaluation, your, your guys is point of view. The first two weeks, what does Kansas City need to work on the most? It can be anything. It can be offense, defense, special teams. But if you had to pick one, like right now, the biggest weakness on Kansas City, what are you picking? I have a hard time thinking, oh, boy, look at the, uh, the comments lighting up with special teams. Um, yeah. Um, okay. Yeah, we're, uh, okay. So a lot of people are

saying special teams a couple people are actually get it saying talking about the wide receivers. So okay, that's, uh, Eric mentions penalties. That's a really good one. Kansas City has not been good in that department so far. Uh, this year, um, uh, Aaron says the secondary. Yeah, and I will say, allowing that big reception and overtime, I ain't gonna lie, man. When I saw the longer a football game goes on for like an overtime, for example, like last night, when an offense can quickly get down to the red zone essentially, oh boy, I might have, I might have, uh, been, been freaking out right there. I might have been hitting the panic button on the chiefs possibly losing. By the way, let me just address this quickly before we go back to our conversation here. Uh, I get it. It's fourth and eight. Like if, if Shane Stuyke and went for that,

they would have been second guessing themselves. If it was fourth and one, it'd be different. Now obviously knowing what you know now, I think the colds should have gone for it, but there's also the logic of, you know, sure, do you want to prevent Oh, one, two and also make sure that you do not put the football in Patrick Mahomes hands because unless it's like fourth and fifteenth, you know, I feel like going for it is very, you can justify it because number one, you don't want to get Patrick and Mom's three and a half minutes with two timeouts. And number two, you want to do everything you can to prevent going Oh and two because it doesn't have to be Patrick Mahomes and overtime. Three and a half minutes is a lot of time for a lot of quarterbacks. And let's be honest, if a defense has to come out for a second possession and overtime, do that defense is gassed out that catch and run play by Kenneth Walker. By the way, great job by Kate. I'm sorry, uh, Rashi Rice blocking down the field, just not letting his guy get a chance to

stop him early. Um, that was mainly because the chief were able to take advantage of the cults being tired on defense. Now as far as what the chiefs must do to improve, I'm seeing some people say third down stops. Yeah, that's got to get worked on. Sonna's bad as it was last year, for now, uh, chiefs were really bad at that. They were the fourth worst defensive team on third down last season, allowing a conversion rate of 43%. It's slower. I don't know the exact number now. But it is much lower to start the first two weeks. Um, see, I feel like a lot of people would point to defense or special teams. And that's kind of what we're getting right now. Some people are mentioning the wide receivers. And let me say this, uh, because I'm glad some some of you guys are mentioning wide receivers. Lachon McCoy, former Kansas chief, a guy who was drafted by Andy Readon Philly. He spoke out and had a pretty strong statement against Xavier worthy, saying that his

words not mine, Xavier worthy is a waste of space and that the chiefs need to move on from him. Uh, man, I don't know what it is. Well, Lachon McCoy, um, like the guy, I mean, he has no connection. What's so ever to Xavier worthy? He does have a connection to Eric B. Enemy. And man, he has had nothing but negative things to say about Eric B. Enemy to the point where, uh, you know, you've had a lot of other chiefs, even guys who left Kansas City, but play for another team, even guys that were on the defensive side, they were so quick to defend B. Enemy and push back against Lachon McCoy. I think there are only two guys that have ever said anything. Oh, only one guy. I'm sorry. That's ever said anything negative about Andy Read and that's loving on Bell. As far as guys who have had negative things to say about Eric B. Enemy, I think Lachon McCoy is the only guy. I remember Tyron Matthew pushing back against Lachon McCoy on this on Twitter. Um, there are a lot of guys,

and let's say, I don't know. I remember being excited when Lachon McCoy came back to, uh, not came back, but reunited with Andy Read and joined the chiefs because I thought Kansas City needed that for their run game. Hence why, you know, they've gone through so many running backs the last few years. I'm finally found Kenneth Walker and also drafted Emma Johnson the same year. We've already talked about that. But man, it just felt like this chiefs team, uh, I don't know what it was, but Lachon McCoy just didn't seem like he enjoyed his time in Kansas City. I mean, I know he was on Fox Sports 1 and now he does a podcast with Ocho. Have they had any of Lachon McCoy's teammates in Kansas City? Because usually these former players that either are on ESPN, FS1 or have some kind of a podcast, it's very easy for them to get teammates, even those active in the NFL

as guests. I don't think McCoy has had one single teammate from Kansas City as a guest. Now I'm speculating here. I have no idea. Um, if I ever have the opportunity to have Lachon McCoy on this podcast, I would certainly ask him that question because, and I think he's been asked, like, what is the, what is his issue with Eric Bienneve? And I don't think he's ever really alluded to that. I mean, listen, Eric Bienneve is a no nonsense guy. And I, listen, we've seen some sideline arguments. Let's just say between BNME and Kelsey, BNME and, um, Mahomes. I mean, listen, oh, Super Bowl 58 BNME was not in Kansas City, but we saw Kelsey and Andy Riello on the sidelines. That was not, you know, the prettiest scene, if you will. So Eric Bienneve just, you know, that we'll see a way that he's been described by some people. He'll be your biggest

critic, but it'll also be your best friend. That's, that's the way I feel like Eric Bienneve gets described by some guys. Um, and I think a lot of the guys, there, but there are six chiefs that played when BNME was last year. Mahomes, Kelsey, Humphrey, Smith, Caliendo, and Noah Gray. Those are the six guys who were here last time Eric Bienneve was here. Now, uh, not to get off top again, I'm going down the rabbit hole here, but to go over, uh, McCoy's comments on Xavier worthy. Look, I know we're all excited because the running game improved overnight. It feels like, I mean, we've already talked about how night and day this running game looks from last season. There is a massive difference, but not everything's going to get fixed right away. And if you expected that, you know, I get the excitement of getting ready for football season

and finally having that first game, especially cheese fans that have to wait one extra day because of Monday night football and all. But we have to, we got to let these receivers develop a bit because there are three very talented wide receivers on your team right now. You have Xavier worthy, Rashi Rice, and Taikoan Thornton. These are all first round or second round picks. And then you have Jalen Royles and Cyrus Allen, you know, Royles at Utah State, who had a really good career there. And then you also have Cyrus Allen who was tied third in college football and touchdown grabs last season. And he's yet to get targeted this season. So, you've got some good group, you got a good group of wide receivers. But I think sometimes what happens is you see the Kenneth Walker running back improvement and you want that happen immediately

with the wide receivers as well. I'm just going to say right now, and I know last week a lot of people got on Xavier worthy because on a night when Denver defenders were missing left and right, Xavier worthy, Condomica Bronco's defender miss and the very few catches that he had in that game. But I still feel like, listen, I can give worthy a pass last year. That guy battled through a torn labor. And again, I don't understand, you know, people being so quick to judge on a player. I remember Xavier worthy had the yellow non-contact Jersey during OTAs and people were freaking out about it. The guy had shoulder surgery in the off season. Like, it shouldn't be a surprise that he was wearing the yellow non-contact Jersey. I mean, you obviously don't want that guy to get hurt. So you need, listen, the chiefs need Xavier worthy. And we've seen Xavier worthy do some good things for Kansas City. He had a really good second half to his rookie season, just like how rice

did in the second half to his rookie season. But I think it's going to take a little bit more time than people expect. Look, if you want to, what are the chiefs do this year? Did they go get a new wide receiver through a free agency? No, they did have interest in Stefan Diggs. But the only new wide receiver on the team is Sarah Salon. Holly would brown move done, evidently not very happy and filly. And jujou moved on, was cut by the giants. And he's still a free agent if I'm not mistaken. So you have the same wide receivers. The chiefs are telling you that they trust the wide receivers they have. They just want to build better around them. So what do they do? They brought back Eric B. Enemy. They go and get probably the best wide receivers coach you could have went after this off season in Chateau Che. They also revamped the entire running back room. They go get the best running back possible and Kenneth Walker. And it's pretty evident given that he's leading

the league in rushing yards, total yards and force missed tackles. And having him and also Emma Johnson, that will open up the pass game. It already has a mountain night football. Mahomes was two of 12 in the first half. He was 13 of 15 in the second half. The now the passing game was not this big thing where Mahomes was connecting down the field. No. But what did you see last night? You saw a lot of play action. The most in Mahomes career in the two games so far. The chiefs have played. I believe it's 36% of the snaps. Mahomes has been under center. That's the most in his career so far. And the chiefs are utilizing play action far more than they have since and I think the sad isle was since 2020. That's quite some time, man. I mean, this chiefs offense is already going in the right direction. And I said this earlier today, I think the wide receivers are moving in the right direction after last night's game. Now let's see how they do against Miami. I know that's not going to be some massive test given that the dolphins might be one of the worst teams

in the NFL. You got the Raiders who sure say all you want about them beating up on two oh and two teams, but the Raiders right now are looking better than anyone could have expected in two weeks. And they'll be fired up for that game against the chiefs and a couple of weeks. But I think the wide receivers will get better as time goes on. After the by week, I expect much more from the wide receivers. I think Cyrus Allen will start to gradually get more involved with the offense. I mean, let's say we had on third and 11 and third and 12 the chiefs. They found a way to connect down the field. Multiple times, Mahomes and Taikwam Thornton on two third and long plays. One of them in overtime, which by the way was the jet chip was play. So I think the wide receivers certainly were better last night than they were last Monday night. Still some room to grow. And I don't think you guys are wrong about, you know, the wide

receivers needing to be able to create better separation. But I do think they moved in the right direction. Listen, I'm not ready to give up on Xavier Worthy. This guy has way too much talent and that skill set bodes so well in Andy Reed's offense that the chiefs are going to give him every opportunity. So I have I have expectations from Xavier Worthy this season saying with Rashi Rice, and listen, look at Xavier Worthy. That dude got two big receptions down field. The one in overtime took a big hit. And if he does not hold on to that football, can't see it might not have kicked that field goal. And we'd be talking about a different chiefs team right now, regardless of how great Kenneth Walker looked. We'd be talking about a much different chiefs team. So I think some people just need to have some patience with this. I think the wide receivers will get better. If you want to just go up from week one to week two, which is the smallest sample size we can even use right now. It's also the biggest sample size

we can use because it's only been two weeks. But I do think the growth from week one to week two is already showing with the wide receivers. Give it time. I think after the by week, where you're going to start playing better teams, the chargers I think defensively are good. There are offenses a disaster. Then you play Seattle. You play Denver on the road back to back weeks. I think you're going to see the wide receivers get more involved even against better defenses. Because you can't just use canine 30 times a game. You will wear that guy out come January. And I think there will be a big January for Kansas City this time. So we'll see how much they utilize Emmett Johnson. And if that'll continue to open up the passing in because if it does, that will bowed well for the receivers. And that'll give them a really good season in 2026. Bob says, do you really think we can feed them all? I mean, listen, I know I know Cyrus Allen is the popular guy from training camp, but you're not going to get a hundred yards for everyone

ever every game. No, it's obviously no. But here's what I will say. Kelsey, who's clearly been your number one target two games in a row. Do I think next week? This is just an example. I know my Emmett's not a good team, but let's just say, you know, the chiefs play a much better defensive team next week. Hypothetically, there's a chance Travis Kelsey couldn't get double or even triple teamed. But if a defense does that, guess what? That opens up the door for Rochy Rice or Xavier Worthy or Tyke Wom Thornton to have a really big game. I mean, I think every game, there'll be a different pass catcher that really stands out on your team. That's how I feel about it. So I think that Kansas City will get everyone involved. Now are you going to get everyone involved equally? No, I don't think so. I mean, Royals will have some involvement. I think Cyrus Allen will

get sprinkled in here and there. And I think they'd like to see as Cyrus Allen going to end up being a steal for you because the chiefs have some decisions to make next off season. Everyone's already talking about Rochy Rice and what might happen to him next off season with the with him being a free agent, basically. That's not the only thing you have to get ready for. Because if I'm not mistaken, I think next off season, you also have to determine what you want to do with Xavier Worthy's 50 or option. If I got to answer right now, I have no idea what the chiefs are going to do with Xavier Worthy's 50 or option. Obviously, they have a couple months left in the season to figure that out. Hopefully a little more than that. But that decision is coming very soon like Brett Vich and his staff. They're thinking about that as we speak. That is something they're looking at. So Jason mentioned Tyree Kill. Is that someone that they bring in?

That's the universal prediction that Tyree Kill will reunite with Kansas City at some point this year. Looks good in his training videos that he's been posting on social media. But we don't know when exactly will be his first availability. So is he going to be the same when he comes back? We don't know. Oh, Malik neighbors just got hurt. Oh, Jesus, this is not a good night for the giants. I don't know what is that his shoulder looks like. He's favoring his right shoulder. And I can't tell what happened there. But oh, yeah, he's immediately favoring that right shoulder. This is not a good night for the giants. Oh, man. Yeah, that's kind of what I was worried about because the giants have talent. They really do. But that many injuries right now. It's oh, he's on the ground.

Oh, this is a rough night for the giants. Oh, yeah. So here's my here's my thing with worthy. Like I think he'll get better. But it's way too early to figure out what's going to happen with with his future with that 50 or option. Rashi rice. It's really hard to judge. Rashi rice on these last two years because he hasn't played much. His unavailability might be kind of that dark cloud over his head, not just from the suspension. Hopefully the off the field stuff is in the rearview mirror. But I really hope that come December, January, rice is going to be one of those hard receivers to stop and go up against. So let's see what that that's going to

look like. But I think, you know, for McCoy to say that the receivers, there's a lot of talent there. Give it some time because I think after the buy a week, you'll start to see them get better. By the way, before I get out of here, there's something I want to mention. I know Travis Kelsey's off to a really hot start. Any just surpass Jason Witten for the second most receiving yards in NFL history by a tight end. Do I think he catches Tony Gonzalez? That might require two full seasons. And I don't see that being the case. However, Travis Kelsey can actually solidify himself as statistically the best tight end of all time in terms of receiving yards. Here's how. If you combine, and I know some people don't like this, but I think it's, it's an actual thing here because a lot of defining moments happen in the playoffs. If you want to combine the regular season

and the playoffs, Tony Gonzalez has 15,413 yards in 277 games. Yes, a lot of them are regular season games. They didn't play much in the playoffs in his career. Only had one career playoff when that was it with Atlanta. However, Travis Kelsey, again, this is regular season and postseason combined. Travis Kelsey has 15,252. Travis Kelsey only needs 162 yards to surpass Tony Gonzalez. And if he does that, he will have the most receiving yards of all time by any tight end when you combine the regular season and the playoffs. And by the way, for now Gonzalez has played 277 games in his career. That's 70 games he played. Kelsey has 219 games. That's a couple of seasons behind Tony G. So if Kelsey, and I think you can do it within the next two to three games, if Kelsey gets

the 216 yards, or I'm sorry, 162 yards, he will have done that in either 211 games or 222 games. Very well behind Tony Gonzalez in the total number of games played. But man, Travis Kelsey, I don't think he's passing Tony Gonzalez for the regular season career record. But all time when you combine the regular season and the playoffs, Travis Kelsey is going to get that within the next two to three games. And I kind of hope he'll he'll do it in week six because that will be a home game. And I think they'll recognize that. But that will be a very special moment for Travis Kelsey. And you can really solidify him as the greatest tight end to ever play statistically that position. All right, I'm going to go ahead and get out of here guys.
