So first…what is summer seasonal anxiety disorder, and why is it important? 

• Summer seasonal anxiety disorder, also known as summer SAD, is a type of seasonal affective disorder (SAD) that occurs during the summer months. 
• SAD is a mood disorder that is characterized by symptoms of depression that come and go with the seasons. 

Great!…but why is it important to discuss?…for a few reasons! 

• To raise awareness: Many people are not aware that summer SAD is a real condition. 
• To reduce stigma: There is still a stigma around mental health, and people may be hesitant to seek help if they are struggling with summer SAD. 
• To provide support: People who are struggling with summer SAD may feel isolated and alone.
