About this episode

“It's your boy, Jonathan McReef with you for another episode of the Nick's Film School podcast. It is a yearly tradition unlike any other.”From the transcript

The Knicks Fan TV x Knicks Film School season-preview crossover returns—and this time, the New York Knicks are defending NBA champions.

CP The Fanchise joins Jonathan Macri for a championship edition of the annual mailbag, answering questions from across Knicks Nation about what comes next after finally reaching the mountaintop.

How much should New York manage Jalen Brunson during the regular season? Could Deuce McBride eventually become a casualty of the Knicks' financial decisions? And how could future contracts for Karl-Anthony Towns and OG Anunoby affect the championship window?

The guys also debate how the title changed the all-time standing of Towns and OG, where Julius Randle and Carmelo Anthony now rank among modern Knicks, Tom Thibodeau's legacy after Mike Brown finished the championship climb, and which former Knicks deserve rings for helping build the foundation.

Then comes the big question: Was the Knicks' championship run lucky—and can they do it again?
CP The Fanchise explains why the championship was years in the making and why a four-round playoff run can't simply be dismissed as luck.

Plus: the Mikal Bridges trade, Patrick Ewing and John Starks finally getting championship closure, the takes Knicks fans can finally retire, and a new ranking of New York's biggest NBA villains.

Hey there, next fans. How you doing? It's your boy, Jonathan McReef with you for another episode of the Nick's Film School podcast. It is a yearly tradition unlike any other. And this year, it's really unlike any other because we don't have to bitch and moan and complain about how, you know, this is next year's year. No, because last year was the year. And I know no one in the universe is as happy about that as the man I'm here to talk to today. A legend, a living legend. The fan tries CP. Hello. How are you? I'm feeling great, man. And it's like you said, for the first time in 30 some odd years, we're not going into a season with hopes, anxiety is this new acquisition going to help change our fortunes around. This

is new territory for us. So it's weird in a way, but it just feels good, man. Like all summer, you've been actually saying questions like how does it feel? You got to be on cloud nine. How does it feel? I don't think I'm ever coming off to cloud. Yeah. I really don't. This is going to stay with me for a long time. Like, you know, Yankees championship, they've come and gone. I've enjoyed it in the moment. They've come and gone. Even even the Giants, you know, O7 was fantastic. It was a miracle season. 11 was even better. That was kind of unexpected. But, you know, those have come and gone, but this one, this one's going to stick around for a long time, man. So we have, as our usual show that we do where Andrew Claudio, the great Andrew Claudio compiles video questions from interested parties. And then we answer those. And I usually say something to make a fool of myself. Before we get to that, though, I have to ask you, because I've been asked this versions of this question, which is like how, like, how's it going to be different now that they've won? Like,

how do you think doing the show is going to be different or creating content is going to be different? And like, it's a little bit different for me because I don't have to directly interact with people. I mean, I read super chats, but it's like, it's not, we do. Next main TV, I mean, it's the callers. It is the audience participation. It is, that's the whole thing. So I am curious, if you have thought about the first time where you take a call from someone who is just absolutely I rate wants to trade everybody, fire everybody, burn the whole thing down. Like, have you thought about what your reaction is going to be the first time that you get that? For me, it's probably going to be the same as it was last year in the year before that. I used to have this phrase with the callers, take the diapers off. It's the regular season. Stop worrying, stop panicking. They will be okay. You know, the adversity that Mike Brown talked about in his press conference last year's same thing. I was like, I want to see this team hit adversity.

Doesn't mean that I'm not going to react negatively. I mean, after the MLK day massacre, I was I rate with this team. And you know, it's called at the town said he thought he was going to be shipped off to Milwaukee. There was some series. Soul searching to be had after that. So, you know, look, I think just like everything else during those bumps in the road, KFTV, Nixfield School, we are a therapist. We don't get paid enough. You know, we are sports fandom therapists in terms of our relationship with the callers. So my job will be to keep our eye on the prize, which is April basketball a healthy Nix team and let the chips fall where they may. But I'm looking forward to it. That is your job. And you do your job. Well, speak for one of us. Listen, man, your ability, I'll give you this because look, as we always kind of joke about this, I don't think there's anybody else that does quite what we do. I there's a lot of challenges with what we've both done over the years.

For me, just like being in being in it, being in the moment, being fully invested, being like fully emotionally invested, mentally the whole thing, but also keeping the perspective that you just talked about. It's like, look, I'm doing it almost as long as you and I still haven't gotten it quite right. I'm hoping maybe the championship gets me there. But you've had it nailed down for a long time. So I will commend you on that because you're appreciated. I appreciate it. All right, Andrew. John. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. I'm waiting to apologize as well for what happened after Vegas in that you found out what it was like to collaborate on a project with me. And it's like, hey, the file's ready? Heady,

you need the help, Heady. You need to be the, like, I kept bugging you and it was, I knew I was bothering you on your vacation. You then informed me, Hey man, I'll get to it. I'm on my honeymoon and I had to, I was in the middle of a goindalo in Venice. And I felt that all summer. And so I apologize. Thank you for helping get those files eventually to me. Yeah. And I'm glad we could collaborate over the summer. Absolutely. Yeah. Like I told you on the text, there's no reason to, you know, I'm still tapped in even when I'm tapped out. So, you know, that was, that was nothing. Yeah. I would have buried my phone so deep in some piece of luggage. Like, absolutely not. Yeah. Yeah. Again, I would have, John knows the one week that I have gone ex-communicato was when I was in a rubah for my honeymoon. So it was very much, I understood right away. OK, you know what? If it goes up when he gets back, it is OK. And yeah, now we're going to collaborate again. And thankfully, we get to collaborate with several members of the Nix community that

have submitted questions as per usual. We start with question at number one of the Nix Film School mailback. What's good, J-Mac, what's good, C.P., I hope you guys had a really great summer love that you're always doing this before the start of every season. So excited for this season. But I got to ask y'all about the man I sat down with this summer. Jellin Brunson. Now, we all have seen Jellin Brunson get injuries, shake it off, go to locker room, come back, everything looks like it's new. But we know the legendary story now about how he put up that 45 piece in game five of the finals with an injured left wrist. And he had surgery on the wrist, talked him this summer. And he was frustrated. He could not do what he wanted to do in terms of staying on the court, getting ready. So it's a bit of a tough summer for him. But he says he's all good now. So my question to you guys is, how worried are you about the wrist? Let's say on a scale of one to 10, how worried are you about the wrist and how it'll hold up this season

and how the Nix will manage it? So what's your concern level about Jellin Brunson's wrist? Let me know guys. Shout out to Dexter Henry. Shout out to Dexter Henry. I just also titled this mailbag and crossover correctly. It's the Nix Film School Nix Fan TV crossover mailbag. All right, you guys are up. He's complaining about files for you and he can't even get the damn name of the steroids. Balls on this guy. You want to go first? That's what I got. I would say like a two, man, I'm not really concerned. I think Jellin knows his body well. I'm sure he's trusting in his medical team and the medical staff. When I had first heard about it, it didn't seem like it was anything major. It seemed to be more of a minor procedure. So I'm not really as concerned. I'm more concerned to be honest with his ankles than anything else and just making sure that they can endure. His ankles can endure over the course of an 82 game season. But the toughness, the durability, the physical, the mental toughness of Jellin Brunson,

it's what New York stars are made of. It's Derek Jeter, it's Eli Manning. I mean, those things, those are intangibles that you really can overlook. So, but I'll tell you that, given the amount of mileage that he's logged, especially in the playoffs and things of that nature, I am curious to see what type of, if there is any, sort of like a load management, maybe it's a lower minute slow, maybe it's not all the 13 back to backs, maybe it's a couple he takes a night off, give the captain a night off, he's a king of New York man, he deserves it. I'm with you, I was going to say like a one and a half. And it's not a good question, it's not that it's not a worthy concern. I just think the, if this was any other season that would be very different, I feel like the calculus has completely changed now. But that would bring me to kind of something similar to what you just said, which is like more than ever, Jellin Brunson needs to embrace the fact that, like the regular seasons now, they just they have to be,

they cannot mean as much as maybe he is hardwired for them to mean, where it's like if I could walk, I could play, like that's going to be his mentality until the day he retires. And it's just going to be so paramount for him, especially as he gets a little older, to make sure that he's in as good a shape as possible for, you know, the postseason, I wanted to qualify for awards and all that stuff, like play the 65 games. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, but like, I actually like to me, the potential for him to maybe take it easy in the early part of the season, dovetails, nicely with what Mike Brunson said the other day about getting, you know, OG more reps in the pick and roll, whatever, and McCall and all that stuff. So, you know, everybody should eat, you know, that's, yeah, everybody should eat and I'm not worried about JB. Shout out to Dexter, as always, friend of Dexter. Next up, I believe we're going to put our front office caps on. Next up, boy. Hey, fellas, this is Jeremy Cohen.

Every NDA team has a window and the nicks are in the middle of theirs. But when we look back, sometimes there can be sliding doors. What is a potential sliding door moment that the nicks could have from a contract perspective or a trade scenario, whatever it might be, over the next 12 months. What's something that they should stay away from in order for their window to stay open? Ooh, okay. A sliding doors moment that they want to avoid over the next 12 months. I mean, I'm just trying to think if there's a different answer than trading, do some pride. Like, or I guess, so I guess maybe the way, maybe the way to go here is like, is the sliding doors moment they want to avoid trading, do some of those, or is the sliding doors moment they want to avoid signing do's to an extension that will encumber them from retaining a more, is not the disparage do's to we love,

but a more important player like N.O.G. N.O.B. further down the line. I think that, that's the thing is when I keep thinking about do's, and I don't know if this is quite answering the question, but like, it's not only that I'm thinking about him in the context of cat and his extension, which is whatever he's talking about right now, but it's the OG extension that is coming, or he's being eligible for at least, in a year, and I'm curious to get your take on this. Like, I think OG's gonna want to get a race, and I think he's gonna be in a position where he can ask for that with a straight face. And so I guess for me, I'll say this, trading do's for something that's gonna materially, or in a trade that makes your team materially worse this year, would be something that I would hope I would try to avoid. Yeah, I think, well, the way I interpreted Jeremy's question is, you know, move to avoid closing their championship window.

And the only thing I can look at is, if the negotiations with Cat goes so sour, in terms of they can't meet in the middle, and he thinks he, you know, he wants closer to what he's doing, Dolan's a little bit tighter on the wallet, then that completely closes your window if they have to trade him, because what we saw in terms of his last two years, and especially last year, you know, his ability as a playmaker, making your teammates better, I mean, that's what you want out of your two stars, and that's what Jalen did, that's what Carl Anthony Towns did. You combine that with the fact that it's rebounding is at the top of the league, his defense was off the charts in the playoffs. Number one defensive rating in the playoffs, you stack those three things up, you understand why he wants his money, but they can't afford to lose him. I think with Duce, I think the writing is kind of on the wall. I would love to see them find a number for him. I guess it's gonna be based on the cat and heart numbers, but if they trade Duce, I think they win, they'll still okay, they're fine, but if they lose cat and they have to trade him,

then I think it's over. Yeah, I think with Duce, it's like, this is a term that I haven't used yet, but I think it's applicable. I think just a margin for error basically goes to zero because then it's like, well, you can't afford Landry Shamit to get hurt and you can't afford a drop off from someone like Alvarado or even Clarkson, who would suddenly, potentially, I guess, be a part of the rotation. So yeah, it makes the road that much harder and it's as we know, it's hard enough to repeat as it is. So what do you think Duce is looking for here? Like is this a potential quickly situation? I don't know if he sees it start our opportunity out there, but if it, as Ian suggests, let's say they find 75 for cat and heart, that leaves 13 for Duce. I mean, could Duce potentially be wanting more than that? I mean, the rhymes got 15. I'm not saying that there is not a team out there that in a perfect world and a vacuum wouldn't think that Duce and Bride is worth more than $13 million

or $12 or $13 million a year. I think the big difference between him and quickly is quickly you could look at and be like, okay, he could be our starting point guard. And I don't know that any team out there views Duce in quite that way. And I always feel bad saying something like that because I feel like I'm disparaging him. And it's, yeah, that's something it is. It's just like he is, what we've always said about him. He is a wing, more than a point guard, even the end he's just shorter. So I think, if they could ever get him a figure out a way to give him a contract to pay them like 12, 13 million a year. For me, if I'm Duce, I take that money. I mean, we're recording this. We just saw a Jamal Shed sign for a three for 24 this morning that not a perfect comp, but like Jamal Shed like point guard defensive specialist, shot will see if it comes around. But like, yeah, that's where I'm out with Duce. Yeah. Can I ask one follow up to this of the starting five, the traditional now forever starting five,

who will be the first one that is no longer on the New York next? Who will be the first one to leave? Because that I think is the real answer to when the window starts to close. Is when one of these members of the starting five, now I know some will just say the easy answers Josh Hart. I think he's not as replaceable. Answer. What's up? He's my last. He'd be the answer to the question of who's the first one who's not going to start anymore. He would not be my first. He would not be my answer for who's the first one off the team. Okay, so then answer the question. What do you think would be the first one off the team with half of this starting five? I have an answer. Passively with Cal bridges. Oh, wow. I'm going with the other way. I would say OG. Oh my god. Window closes when OG and a nobby leaves in my land. That may be the case. I would say Josh Hart. I would like thank Josh for his contributions to the franchise before letting OG and a nobby. It's really good. It's not about that. Josh Hart, you may be able to get under next contract

that pays him an average of just a little more than 20 million dollars a year. I think there's a world where OG goes in there and like, I would like my max. Now, oh, we're doing that. It doesn't mean he's not going to play ball as much as everybody else will. Okay. They they they had to go. I mean, when he said it seems like a million years ago now, but when he signed for five for two 12 and a half, I remember being like, wow, they really had to go high to get him. And immediately my thought was like, well, Philly was looming, you know, they didn't ever choice. So if he if he's already making 42 and a half now, and he's a fucking legend, like, I'm points in the playoffs. Yeah, man, he had one of the greatest from three. Forget stars. He didn't want to grace place of all time for anybody. Yeah. Yes, he did. So see what's the case for from Macal? Because I love OG. How many of you guys to be clear?

You just asked me not what I wanted. You asked me what I thought. What I thought. No, you made the case. It's financial. No, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, look, it makes sense. He would be highly coveted. It would allow them to recoup some maybe some draft capital one or two. You know, that they lost with them with the Macal situation with Josh. I think I do think he's going to retire after this next deal. That's interesting. I do think he's going to retire. He did say a couple of years ago, if you guys remember, I forget which year specifically, he did say that he wasn't, he wasn't into the, you know, play till I'm 40 type of thing. He said, I got a wife. I got kids. Remember, he's got the chronic knee issue. Now with the finger joint, he did say about the finger joint. He said, I'm not getting this done until I'm done. And I, and now I retire. So I think after this next one, I think he could be done. And see, pay, you just nailed something that again, I don't want to have this conversation. And I hate you and you for bringing this up. But like, Mikal on whether it's this deal or on his next deal, I, Mikal will, I,

he would get fetched something if you wanted to trade him. I don't think it would be like everything. Cat, we've been down that road. Like he has a lot of value to them. He would get paid, I think, on the open market. But if they decided if they had to trade him, I don't think he's getting the, the superstar package. If they had to because for financial reasons, put OG on the block, you don't think there would be teams for sure lining up to give a lot of stuff for him. So, yeah. I thought that conversation was fascinating, even if it did, but you're all in a moral conundrum. Okay. Next up, Macri would up CP champion P. The fair chance was good. My brother fellow chips. I got this one burning question for y'all. What do you think is one major challenge that you two are going to face as Nick's content creators? As we enter the second golden era of Nick Robocker hoops, Yawa covering from the dark days, so salute to y'all. You also know that we got a passionate fan base and the intensity of that passion was built from the fact that we thought we were in a thousand year war with the basketball

gods that was unwinnable. So we enjoyed the journey. Now the whole fan base and the city is on the summit. Does anything change? Is prosperity going to breed complacency? I would love to know your thoughts. And here's a bonus question for you. Just in case you're feeling a little froggy, I want to answer. Who do you think from the 90s, Nick's, even from the mellow era, Nick's benefited the most from this 2026 next title run? Who exercise the most demons? Who's good? In the garden, even better than they were before, I'm really interested to find out if you got a little extra time. Peace. I'm going to, I'm going to cheat and answer the second part of Jeff's question first, so I could punt the first part to you. I'm going to say John Starks as the answer to the second question because you ain't obviously you ain't, you know, there were some demons exercise there, but I don't know that, you know, they were in it like Starks, what happened at the end of the

94 finals, I think was probably always going to be with him. And now I don't necessarily know if that has to be for you. I think it's maybe a little bit different. I'm curious about your answer for the first one because I've already answered versions of this. So I'm curious what you're doing. The, the, I think the biggest concern is, is when they ultimately go back, I don't know, I wouldn't, I don't know if I'm going to call it the dark ages, but the way that, you know, with James Dolan Stance on this second apron, just how long will the good times last? And after that, we're talking going back to the draft with limited assets, having to rely on drafting quality talent, going back through the rebuilding process, I think will be the hardest part as a content creator. That's so interesting that you say that because maybe this probably says a lot about me. I'm not like when it looked at every organization, eventually, you know, it's, it cycles. It goes up to ups and downs, you know, even the spurs eventually started to lose again.

So they got Victor Momenyama. I, I'm not worried about that because when we get back to that point, that to me, it's more my wheelhouse because I, not that I get to like complain, it's not that it's more like thinking about things like, okay, how do you go from like point A to point, you know, whatever, Q and like, you know, all the different machinations and, and, you know, the, the, the different, the strategy of it all. Like I like that stuff. I'm interested in that stuff. And also it's like, if your team isn't that good, the losses are, I mean, nobody ever likes to lose, but it's, it's a, they take on a different, when you're rebuilding losses, yeah, on a different feel. I'm just more worried about, as I've said this already, this upcoming year, which is like when they lose games, I'm just worried that I'm going to sit here and be like, eh. It's just what I need. I heard fans say they don't have to win another game. And I'm good for the next few years.

I look, I want, I said this the other day to, I think I, I, I, JJ on and I was, I was like, I would love us like a nice six year run. Like the, the 70, the championship, the original championship teams at a six year run where they went to the conference finals or further in every one of those six seasons. If they could have five, six years, whether at least conference finals or further, I love to make another finals. I love to win another championship. All that stuff. But just give me a nice run. Don't let it end to too fast, you know, I, yeah, that would be perfect. Yeah. On, I was going to say, Cp, who's your, who's your Nick? Yes. Well, I totally agree with, with, with, with John on the stocks front. I mean, just to see the way that he was invested with this team over the last few years and, you know, my conversations with him, you know, asking him about game seven, you, you never left him. So I definitely agree with John on that. Remember Alan Houston in Los Vegas, Alan Houston said he cried. Right? Right. Like how much of that and, and his shortcomings and, you know, the, the, the,

the controversy about the $100 million contract that people still hate him for. Quote on court, right? But I'll go with you. I'll go with you and, and chat to John Krozensky on the cat profile and, and talking about the story that catch share with Patrick, you're texting him about the moment that they shared on the court, Patrick, you're on the mic saying I finally have a ring. You know, seeing him take that picture with Jalen. I was at the Eastern Conference finals, clincher and, and seeing him and Clyde give Jalen the trophy, it was like, you know, that changing of the guard moment. It was just beautiful. But if you think about, you know, Uing's tenure and the turmoil and on his way out, the friction with the fans, the friction with the organization and the, the classic, you know, aging star and that ultimate divorce with the team that, that, that he grew up with. It's painful, especially when you don't run a championship. So I think for him, you know, those, those demons were exercise and it was just beautiful to see. It was perfect timing that the organization brought him back in as an ambassador.

And then they went to championship and then he said, all right, I'm going back to DC. Hope he gets, I hope he gets out just like even if it's like on an interim basis or something at some point, I hope he gets a head coaching shot in the, in the lead at some point. Yeah. I don't know if he's going to, I know I see you, Andrew. I don't know. He's a good head coach or not. That's the only thing. Well, people created Georgetown, but you never know. Maybe it goes better on the pros. What? Is there a history of that going bad in college and better in the pros? No, I guess not. The both of you just made the same face. Like, yeah, I was like, eh, yeah, history. I love Patrick. We are indebted to him as a franchise and as a fan base forever. I don't know if he's a good head coach. I'm not even using him. I just don't know. Honorable mention because I think you guys said the both correct answers. It's you and and John Stark's. There is a player that was 113 and 174 in his time as a New York Nick. Yeah. And that's Stefan Marbury. Yeah. And yes, parade. That just has mentioned as an honorable mention that Stefan Marbury is mentioned

with Nick's legends forever, despite being having a winning percentage of his career of 39, 394, like 30% of his games he won as an 184. So sure, shout out to stuff. Shout out to stuff. Shout out to that blast. From the past that we were allowed to just take out to Jeff Jay. For the question. And now here's another blast from the past in content creation. Next up. Hey, what's up, John and CP? First time, long time, which is to say first time in a long time. Hope you guys are doing well. Hope the championship summer treated you well. And I want to ask you guys about all time Nick's rankings. So all time favorite players subjectively to a person. I feel like are not always the star player, although I mean, Jill and Brunson is high on my list. But I never would have imagined that Landry Shamit, for example, I would look at and be like that is one of my favorite Nick's of all time. If you would have told me that two years ago, I would have told you you were nuts.

I'd be like, what do you mean Landry Shamit, the guy who's played for like 18 different teams and like, can kind of shoot a bit. And yet here we are. He's one of my favorite Nick's now. So my question for you guys is twofold. One, who is a Nick that is now on your all time favorite list that you might not have necessarily seen coming? And then two, how much does a championship color the glasses rose color, or maybe orange color, orange and blue color? How much does a championship, if you're going to give like arbitrary points to how players can climb up your personal ranking in your head? How much does this championship add to certain guys? All right, all hang up on list and later guys. This is good. Shout out to Alex. Alex Wolf, long, first time long time. Lot of Alex posting and toasting the Strickland, a legend. I just quick plug it. We did a, so last summer we did a countdown, C.P. of the top 25 next to the past 25 seasons. Rather than redoing the whole countdown over the summer, we did it all in one

three hour episode, shout out to Graham within studios that we recorded the fall episode. We talked about the championship plot armor, which I think is quite literally what Alex is referring to. So what are your new Mount Rushmore's top five of your all time favorite nicks with now the benefit of championship plot armor? Where are you going with this one, C.P.? Of nicks that we've seen. Or are we going to get to the past? So it nicks from all time. We could do whatever however you want it. I've talked about my, my, I did a whole thing for the newsletter. So some of the top five favorite from my time. Wow. Well, obviously Jalen at the top. I'm going to say you were in stocks for sure. Okay. If I have to go two more top five favorite. It's interesting. You went stocks before mellow. Well, if you talk about favorite, that's different. Yeah, mellow. Gonna go mellow for and five.

It's beautiful. Oh gee. I was. Yeah. That's so. So I'm going to, so my answer to just the way you phrase question is like who was, who was helped? I guess the most by this, by this idol. Yeah. For that one, whether it's you're talking about all time rankings or just in my own personal estimation, easily caronately down. Because aside from the fact that like there were, there were times last season, there were times around the playoffs, there were times the summer, there were times this season when I was convinced, not opined. I was sure certain. What about anything on it? They are never winning a thing with this guy as a prominent piece on the team. Credit to you. You've always said no, it wasn't no cat, no cat no, no cat no rings. Yeah. Which was wise because he pulled it together in a way that I frankly did not think he was capable of. And we, you know, again, you referenced the Krasinski article like Kat saying it was wife like what are they going to say about me now? I think I should say about you now, man.

I had him as my seventh greatest nick of all time when I did my, re, read it my top of the summer. I think he's a guy that now I'm always going to look at as like a beloved player, overcoming, you know, different, different challenges and what have you on multiple fronts. And then, but the guy, I think climb the highest just in terms of like the all time rankings. I think the guy who even climbed higher for again, for me, then, then cat in terms of how the big the jump he made because the championship was, was OG. Yeah. I'm with you there, man. All star level, you know, let he leveled up every single playoff series that he played with the next, the shooting efficiency was off the charts, the shot making, the elite shot making, you know, this wasn't just, you know, standing in the corner and shoot threes, no, this was, no, I'm going to go get some pockets for you. The defense obviously stellar. He had a tremendous run and, and they were so fortunate that the hamstring injury was

minor in nature and not a typical because if, if he's out for any longer, they may not be standing in champions today. I'm going to ask a follow up this time, a name that did not come up out of either of our mouths just now was Julius Randall in your, whatever, all time ranking, ranking of just since you've been watching the next action, it doesn't matter. Where do you have Randall in comparison to the guy like, where does he slot in in terms of the guys who just wanted? Is he like after every member of the starting five? Is he after every member of starting five and Mitch? Is he like after just cad and Jalen and OG? Like, where do you, where do you have? Fourth after the top three. Yeah. Okay. I'll put Julius forth. I originally, so I was working on my list this summer, I originally had him after the entire starting five and Mitch. And then I went back and I'm like, that, that does not pass this moment.

And I ended up putting him exactly where you just did. Yeah. I think it's fair. We, you got to give him credit. Yeah. You have to give him credit where it's still agreed. What about the list that we did, the best 25 next to the past 26 seasons? So the biggest debate happened in the first 30, 30 minutes of the episode of the past, of this century, who were the top was it? Cause I get down with making this up. Go ahead. I was preparing to go in and I, to, that there, I thought there was going to be a vigorous debate between Kat and mellow for number two of the, of this censored. And everybody was like, who Anthony? What? And it was, it was cat versus OG at number two. And, and then it was, and then mellow was probably in the discussion we had. It was probably closer to fifth than Sean made a case that Julius should be ahead of mellow. And that's, that, that got the most pushback, but it also got a lot of agreement. So if you had to rank the top five from this century, CP, where do you go?

I'm putting mellow ahead of Julius for sure. Okay. I'm by, I don't know if the three of us landed there, but yeah, that's, that's, that's, I'm biased. Man, I, I've been to mellow guys in Syracuse, so I'm, I'm very biased in that regard. Um, in this century, Jaylin, Jaylin one. Yeah. Shhh cat mellow. It's cat mellow OG. For the record, I went cat to mellow three OG four. I, again, CP, I've been in the trenches with you for, uh, for mellow. I had OG ahead of mellow personally. Oh, I can't do that. Okay. I'm not saying he won't get there. I, you could even tell me he gets there as soon as after this season. Mm hmm. Not yet. We had it. Nice. Not yet. Not as a list collaborated and came up with mellow landing three OG at court. So I just, this is not in mellow's fault.

I've, I've, I know all the arguments to make. I know how to defend him, but as much as anybody else does in the mellow hive, what OG and I know we did it from the mobility came here. No, I just, I value that. So I'm not saying you have tones, but I don't, I think it's a fun. I started or not in 2013 and we make bike apparel. The best part of Shopify for me is our ability to run the business as essentially non technical people were able to admin everything on the back end, front end and sell things online easily. If Shopify were a bike accessory, I think it would actually be the bicycle. It's the thing that you do the thing on. We run the business on Shopify. Start your free trial on Shopify.com. Hey, um, okay. Next up, uh, we're going to stay in the next fan TV family now. See P. Macri, what's good, fellas? You already know what it is. We out here. We doing stuff. Next nation still up, but you're probably wondering, why is this man behind in the back of

an alley? Well, Yankee Nation had to take Red Sox nation out back like old yellow. So we already know what it is, but enough about me, a man of where I'm at. Look, you guys have been through a lot throughout your content and journalism journey. All right. And you've guys had a lot of stuff since you guys started this process. You guys have now got to see the pinnacle, the next win the championship. With that being done, I need you guys to list your five, five. I'm talking about your top five takes that you don't got to hear anymore from next nation, man. What is it? The Frank Hive? You don't want to hear from them anymore? Where's the fire tips? I think I know what the answer is. But I want to hear you guys top five stuff. All right. Thanks, fellas. Appreciate you guys. Can we work together on this? Yeah. Yeah. Alex, if you're a little say Alex, I hate you for asking this question. Oh, God. Cause here's the problem with top five takes. I can't I don't want to have to ever hear anymore. I've made most of them myself.

Okay. Top five takes I never have to hear anymore. The picks definitely McCown the picks. McCown the picks is absolutely one of them. That has to be the entire see. I mean, two seasons, you want to have seasons if you will. So we are sorry, part of clarification. Are we allowed to include takes from like outside of next nation? Yes, and there's not. What do you think? And you says yes. Yeah, of course. Okay. Okay. Things you never have to hear if like, never have to even consider their validity anymore. If you want to. Okay. So number one is the any Brunson related thing. Brunson can the one a. Yeah. The whole thing. That's number one. I think we could put McCown and the picks at number two. Number two. Um, I mean, there's. Geez. You know what I'm happy we never have to hear anymore is that I'm just trying to think of like which player I want to make this about. Basically like was there a was there a potential missed opportunity?

That well, if you know what, this goes hand in hand with the picks. For me, number three would be Janice that we never have to hear about Janice again. That would. Oh, yes. Yes. Like up there. Definitely. Yeah. They blew it. They didn't trade for him the whole thing. Two years of whining and complaining about Janice. Thank God that's over. That's great. Um, I'm trying to think of like another. If I had to put one at five like when you mentioned the picks, maybe Obi, you remember there was a huge debate. There was about Obi. The tips was holding him back. You know, they came at me. I called it a dud pick. They came at me with that. I still stand by that. But that was a big, that was a big one. That was a big one that they wasted them behind Julius and that tips never gave him a shot. Nothing. Nothing in Kentzen. He's still a quality role player. CP, that's not a hot take. I just drafted ahead of fucking Tyrie's halibut and like, I definitely sell. So like, come on.

What are you doing here? Yeah. Um, I, you know what? And I don't know where this could be number one. This could be not. It's more just like, it's not a take. But it just the PTSD is now officially gone. You know, and the fact that it's like, they're going to find a way to lose or they're going to find a way to blow it. I don't know that this is a take anybody had. It may just be something that certain of us have had to deal with and got over. But yeah, that would be, that would be the other thing for me. The other stuff like all the stuff from the past is tough because like, I mean, we haven't talked about Frank and like any other stuff like that for, like, knocks over SGA. And then the tips like, let me, let's end with that. Yeah. Where, where's tips like a scene now? I still think it's strong. It has to be. It has to be.

He turned out to be a stepping stone coach, a ladder coach. You know, which I thought when he first hired him, I said that very, that first day when they hired him, I said, it's very impossible. Maybe he doesn't take into the championship. Maybe he's the coach that gets him to a certain point. And the next coach gets him over the hump, you know, the Mark Jackson, a Steve Kerr effect. Yeah. And he turned out to be that. But I'm not going to bury him. And you know, forget the guy. No, he, I think tips deserves a lot of respect and a lot of credit for getting them to a certain level of respect, ability, a culture, a standard. I think he deserves a lot of credit for that. 100%. I guess the tough part is like even people who were not necessarily big fans of him, I think even they begrudgingly agreed like, yeah, he was the, he was a good first coach like for this process. And it was just a matter of like what came next. Then no, I think you phrased it perfectly as well said. My, we said this at some really John on the set, the studio show that we did. Like my biggest fear is that he becomes CP the next Mark Jackson example that

every fan base that gets upset is just going to be like, well, look what the next did they fire tips. We need our, we need our Mike Brown. And it's just not acknowledging the like empty lot filled with garbage that this, this franchise was when he showed up. And the foundation that he filled to and read like dug out all the roots and replaced all the sod and anything else you do in an empty lot. Like built something that you could built, like a foundation that you could build something on, right? And then when you asked him to build something, it was like a solid five story building. And we needed Mike Brown to build a skyscraper. And that's just, it's the reality of it. You still give the guy credit, they go hand in hand. I really hope it. He doesn't get mentioned as much in the name Mark Jackson or that example because I don't think you held them back. They had in the playoffs every year with tibs. Once they got Jaylin Brunson, I'll change the analogy slightly. Tibs built up a beautiful brownstone.

Mike Brown added the penthouse. It was only one more floor. That's right. Yeah. It's the nicest floor. It's the most important floor. And it completely changes the value of the building. I dig it. I might just my honorable mention is the name Johnny Bryant. Next up, uh, speaking of stories you might hear behind the scenes, uh, next up. Hey guys, Fred Katz here. I had a quick question. I wanted to get to you because I figured you were the foremost experts on this. I would really know. So I heard there was a book coming out about the next winning the title that the author had been working on for two years. And then they just went on and won a title called Under the Bright Lights, the revival of the New York Knicks. And I heard it comes out on February 16th everywhere. And I heard it's up for pre order now. And I was just wondering based on your guys expertise and knowing history and everything else, if you would recommend that I get this book. And on top of that, I would love to know just to see your qualifications.

What each of your favorite all time next book is. Uh, I shout at the Fred. Everybody go order Fred's book. It's going to be amazing. Uh, favorite next book. I mean, I have an obvious answer to you. Yeah. Obviously. But in the garden, the garden, the garden, Chris Herring shout out to him, friend of, uh, friend of both of our pods. Yeah. Uh, Fred, just a friend. Um, yeah. If we expanded it to NBA books, what, what, what are some of your recommendations? I'm turning my head because I gotta look at my NBA library here. My, my personal, well, it's actually not an NBA book. My personal favorite basketball book ever is not even a narrative book. It's loose balls. It's the oral history of the ABA, which is probably the funniest book I've ever read because there's so many behind the scenes stories about the ABA that are, that are in there. Oh, uh, let me see here. I'll always give a, uh, a shout out for this book when I can. Um, it's book called FAL.

Um, by David Wolf. Um, it's about, um, oh my God. Let me just get the book. Uh, my wife found me an original copy of this. It's, it's the story of Connie Hawkins when he got blacklisted from the NBA and at the bounce around and playing and frigging Pittsburgh with the, I think it was the Pittsburgh papers or some nonsense. But, uh, yeah. So I'll, I'll give a shout out for this one. Yeah. For me, um, non-nix books, like I said, blood and guard for sure. Shout out to Chris Herring, um, non-nick books. I'm going with the Jordan rules by Sam Smith. So good book. It's good, good, good. Yeah. Chronicle Jordan, 91 championship season, a lot of the turbulent study went through getting through the bad boy pistons, you know, an inside look at his competitive spirit. It was a good book. I'll shout out to Sam Smith, man. He's a great writer. Um, that was one of one of the first books I, I ever read. Actually, this is groundbreaking book at the time. It was like, because they're hadn't been, I mean, breaks of the game is like the legendary

one. But like Sam Smith got a lot out of that. What were the two recent, so you're on Whitesman did, tanking to the top. And then Jake Fisher did a book also about built to lose. Yeah, just like a, both are very good basketball books about the different perspectives of tanking. Like, there's one that's like, again, the, the, the pro sixers version that is more painting a rosy picture of how that version of team building. And then there's the other side of it where Jake Fisher's like saying how coach K calls the sixers when Julia Locofer has that incident that went viral online. And it's like, do you have an adult in the room? My player got drafted by you guys. Oh, yeah. It seems like you just look at these guys as assets, which then let's a silver stepping in, sending out and brand and Kiki, not Kiki Vinduay. Kalangelo over there. I think those are good. Just basketball books.

I co-sign the, the Sam Smith Jordan rules book, by the way. If anyone's looking for a book that has not gotten like, has kind of been lost the time, fine-steen wrote a book, I don't know, maybe 10, 20 years ago. It's called The Punch about the night that Kermit Washington almost killed. Yeah. Pretty much. Yeah. It's like if you're a fan, like around our age and you just want to know more about the league in the 70s, it's just filled with stuff from that time period. So I would recommend that as well. I would also add pro minns, both Jeff Pro minns. You love pro minns stuff. You wrote the best, Matt's book. I've ever, I've ever read. Like, 1986, Matt's to a generation of Matt's fans are heroes, right? They won the World Series. And reading that book, it's like, it's called The Bad Guys One. It actually changed the perspective. Like the perfect ending for that group of scoundrels should have been, they lose the World Series, but the Red Sox and their forces at hands, unfortunately, had to blow their World

Series so that way they could continue their curse. But Jeff Pro min has two very good Lakers books, one about the Show Town Lakers that they made in HBO series about, and then he did a book about the other Lakers run at the end of the Kobe Shack Lakers at the very end of the rise and then fall. Both very good. The latter book, the one about the Kobe Lakers actually came out. He was writing it and then Kobe, unfortunately, passed away, which added a new context. It like brings him back to life, all like young Kobe. So I found it very fascinating. And yeah, Fred's book available for pre-order now. Yeah, sure. Shout out to Matthew, man. Shout out Matthew, indeed. And just to be clear, we've vetted the link that he sent us. Next up. What's up, guys? Can you rank for me the top three players who deserve a ring for this next championship but probably won't get one. Coaches, not included. So sorry, John, that takes away your number one.

Tom Fibidau, thanks guys. Looking forward to hearing your answer. Let's go on. Shout out to Ian Begley. Yeah, shout out to Ian. All right. Top three players who deserve a ring for this next championship. I can. Man, it's actually, so I don't know about you. The top, the first three names that came to my mind were Julius RJ and IQ. But I don't know if that's my answer. I would go with that. You would? Yeah. It's top. I actually, you know what? I think they are the correct answer. It leaves out Dante and it leaves out Isaiah, Maranstein. And I love both those guys. Yeah. I've got those people who are tired of hearing me talk about my love for the 23, 2014. But I think the correct answer is quickly RJ and Julius. For sure. Can I just make the case for Dante to even Chenzone? Sure. With the whole Villanueva energy and spirit was cemented by him being the third infinity

stone and for a solid two months during the summer, it's like, oh, all four of them are going to get together and then a necessary move. But a heartbreaking move at the time was, oh, we just never got to see the Villanueva. Remember the screenshot Josh Hart took on them FaceTime each other after McCale got traded to the nix. And it was like, oh, this is pretty cool that this group of NCAA champions are going to get to play together. And then they never did. So I would think that they need it. Like Dante has to find his way on that list. I here's my pushback would be Julius, I think, is in arguable. RJ having to be, you want to call him the face of the franchise, the co face of the franchise, whatever. He bore a lot of weight on his shoulders. We all gave him shit for different things over the years, but like the guy, he earned it. If you're going to give it to Dante, it has to be over quickly, I think. I'm okay with that. And I quickly was just so important to making them just a good basketball team.

And he was in so many ways. I think the reason why people fell in love with him was because he was symbolic of like, oh, we're a smart team now. We drafted this guy. And like even though our coach doesn't want to play him, like we're giving him chances. And he's like, you know, and he was responsible for some legendary regular season moments. But maybe that's where the difference is for you is Dante has some post. Yeah. Love it. CP is Dante fourth for you. Fourth. Yeah, I go forth. He just wasn't here long enough for both him and Hart and Stan. I love Hart and Stein as well. But quick RJ Julius, they were part of the foundation. Like when we think about tips, they were part of that foundation. Who's sixth? Derkeros. See, I would go Taj. Look, I put me on the spot. Maybe you say something bad about it. I love Taj. Right. Talking about adults in the room, you needed a head of the table and and tips just to say this is our culture. And then you need veterans to enforce the culture.

Yeah, I'll go a touch. I think the cell phone sell you. That was my favorite during the tough times. Yeah. Love. Love ties at the corner three. Love ties. Respect ties was here far later than not far. Two tours. How many two or three days to two tours? I think he did technically three contracts. Because I was one when he initially signed. Yeah. Then he resigned the next year as like a veteran ad. There were two days. Officially didn't play as much. Then there's that one during 2024, which is just the funniest 10 day ever where he's he went on a podcast and said, Tim's called me and said, you in shrewd. And then he was playing against the net and he thought he might die on the court because Tim's was forcing him to guard like listen, Jared Allen. Yeah, there were some times there in 2324 where he was playing like 24 minutes a night. And he had absolutely no business to himself. I would just I would say Rose still because we hear is in to me. As we talked about a lot this summer, integral part of this large story. And there's no, there is no we hear without without that.

Sure. Not Jared Allen. Who's the center of the Nick claxing? The claxing. Yeah. Yeah. Speaking of the next next up. Congrats on that whole NBA championship thing. Another question. Is there any way the nets could still win the McEl bridges trade like anyway? Maybe you guys missed the playoffs this season. Nets win the lottery and then two years from now the same thing happens. Like if it turns into two super star quarterstone franchise players, is there any way you guys would be like, you know what? Yeah, sure. We won that title. The kel was important. But man, those Brooklyn nets won the trade. Thanks. I'll say there's no way you're ever going to get a nix fan to regret the McEl bridges trade. I do think that there is an opportunity for it to be the most win-win trade in like the history of league. Yeah, we're going to have to give time. You got to give it time for some of these picks to marinate. Are they going to marinate with with Julie, some Michael, poor, did you need something

with the air? I don't know. We'll time will tell. We hope for the best with with Jordy Fernandez and those guys. But you know, for the next side, I would have done it nine times out of 10, 10 times out of 10. It was a worthwhile gamble for Leon Rose and it paid dividends. And I think what's crazy is that the fact that they fell two short two game shorter, the finals with that tree. And we still ripped a guy. After game two of the Hawks series when he drops the goose egg, but after that, he was on a rocket. He never looked back after that. He was fantastic after that game to go sick. His from game from game four against the Hawks until like game two or game three, whatever it was against the Spurs, he his that like I forget it was 14 to 15 games, whatever it was as efficient the stretch of playoff games as like any players ever had. I'll just I'll even go step further.

I would actually be very surprised if at the end of the day, net fans are not happy with the trade. I like they're getting they're getting these picks that are coming like they're they're they were heading towards a rebuild anyway. The nicks gave them more from the Cowbridge than anyone else was going to give them. So like I don't know. I don't to me 1000 F and I wouldn't I wouldn't be upset about the trade. Yeah, you're getting multiple cracks at helping turn your franchise around and maybe it's not the place that they try after using these pits. Maybe it's the place that they get in the trade for these picks. You know, you just never know how they get leveraged. Yeah. CP hit it. I first of all, shout out to Evan Roberts of WFA and the question. Yeah. It's a great everybody knows what his voice sounds like. He shouted at him. That's what I unfortunately he and the other 86 net fans had a very good. Very miserable summer. Unfortunately, the hot take I was going to give is that the only way for this trade to

be beneficial to the nets is what they trade them for. I don't think any of these picks that they got from the nicks will be in the lottery. I think they will. That's giving a question. Do you think any of these picks ever is a lottery chip, right? Like a lottery ticket that they're able to see how high could potentially get. It's 20. The last one is in 2031. It's 25. It's 31 2931 and then the bucks pick, which has already happened. What is the season 26 27? Yes. I think it's possible. I don't think any of the bronze ones ever going to play in a lottery. Play on a team that misses the top eight. Barring injury. I don't think so. Okay. Barring a catastrophic injury to bronze and I've not come with that never happened. All right. The next event in the playoffs for straight years, right? Yes. So hold on. 20. So they would have to be in the playoffs for nine consecutive seasons to avoid that being that last pick being a lottery. Yes. I'm actually curious.

When's a lot? How many how many current teams in this era have made the playoffs for nine straight years? Is it like as Boston done it Denver? Then Boston absolutely. Right? Okay. So what? There's like two or three teams. Now look, they're one of the best run organizations in the sport. So if anyone could do it, it should be them. I don't know. I flip a coin. I think it's 50. Okay. We've reached our last question. Kind of. I don't even know if I could qualify. This is a question because a question isn't asked, but we end really usually do on these male bags. Last up. First off, this is the most likeable next team there ever was. But I hate to be a Debbie Downer. I don't see a week. Has it been done since 2018? And don't see it happening now. There were 53 win team that got scorching hot and super lucky in the playoffs. Their health was perfect and the matchups were perfect.

Atlanta, Philly, Cleveland, San Antonio. If the nicks get by, go bronze sixers. They won't get by OKC or Hungary, Wendy and the finals. The next will miss Mitchell Robinson's shot blocking and rebounded too much. Relax. I didn't ask a question, but shout out to Mark Birmingham of Florida. I miss Burma, man. I miss Burma, man. What a hundred percent shout out to Mark. So I'm going to I'm going to agree with him. Well, before you, what? Yeah. I'm going to answer that question. Can we just just hold on? We need to appreciate what this man. He doesn't. That's that retirement life. That's how Florida life is. You just got back in the middle of court. Yeah. Travel with the nicks of the 2000s and the 2010s. Yeah.

Now, where's Suds Greed every day? Yeah. He's still lobbing grenades over defense or on Twitter. And then it goes back to the beach. Listen, it needs to be said. The nicks were they didn't win a championship, but they were as close to it in terms of playoff, regular playoff success. They were as close to a model organization as you could get for a decade and a half. Birmingham comes on the beat. They suck ass for two decades. Birmingham leaves the beat. They have been a model organization ever since. They have more playoff wins than any team in the or more playoff series wins than any team of legal for the last four years. No, you got it right. It's your time. They have more playoff wins than any other team as well, any other franchise as well. In four years. In four years. There we go. And all that being said, I'm going to agree with Birmingham three and a half things. I agree with him. They got scorching hot in the playoffs. There's no team has ever shot the basketball as well as the next shot in the playoffs. That's indisputable.

I do think they got fortunate with the matchups. I think their matchups in the east in particular were very fortunate. And then you want to say the spurs were a more advantageous matchup for them than the thunder. We could have a conversation about that. And then I do think they'll miss Mitch. I absolutely think they'll miss Mitch. We could talk about what that's going to be in the playoffs. The pushback that I have. The half is like he's like even if they make it to the finals, they're going to be underdogs. I think I agree with that. If they make it to the finals again, they will be underdogs, depending on regardless of if they play OK. So you're saying it. The part that I even doesn't, Berman knows it doesn't best to smell test. This was not luck. No. I know him and he doesn't even believe that when he says it. No, it was not luck at all. When you have one of the best players in the sport and when the other two are the supporting cats, like I said, they had a legit big three in the playoffs. That's not luck. That's talent. The shot making that's talent. That was who the nixor under this new system with Mike Brown.

And now to mention their defense for the most part was championship caliber led by the two, the two all stars, the two guys who many thought you could not win with because of this sub part defense. How many games in this playoff run that we say, oh man, you know, they, you know, Jalen Jalen's in trouble right now, you know, they've got to do something. He's hurting them or Carl Anthony Towns like how many times did we really, you know, see that? I said the opposite, which I never talked about things I never thought I would have said. There were times where I wanted to get cat on the floor because I thought defensively, he was just playing at such another level, which is like, it's crazy, but that's what cat. That's the case. Who was the East matchup that you think could have given them an issue? Like when people say like they're running the East was easy, he was easy. I mean, who was the team when you think about it? I think the, I think the pistons would have been a pain in the ass to play. I'll, I'll say that. You know, and and bought and here and the other thing, I guess is, is Boston and I know

Andrew will make fun of me until they die with my obsession with Boston. The thing with Boston is because they, of the way they play, how many threes that they put up, like there's going to be a gamer too or they're just not going to miss and you have to essentially play perfect basketball to beat them. So I think Boston would have taken a game or two, maybe off of them. I do not think they will Boston would beat them. The pissant just would have beaten the shit out of them. I don't think they would have been physical. Yeah, but they're physical and I think that would have been a more challenging series than Cleveland and then they would give them. The injury risk is the only reason Detroit is the answer that you would have gotten to round three OG, potentially on a bad hamstring. Who knows what have happened in the Philly series? If that even happens again, that's where I think Detroit. Detroit comes into play. The team I saw come out of the Atlanta series. There was no Eastern Conference team. That's great. You like great. And I gotta be honest, my answer to your question, CP, is Atlanta? They needed one final like destination, like one final level to go to with a primary defender

that could give Jaylen Brunson trouble for them to decide. Let's put the ball in Carlyl Anthony Towns' hands. It actually worked out perfect. That's the team they played because it took out one of their greatest weapons. It took out Brunson. Now Brunson ended up having a good series and it was going some points in game five. But the way Dyson Daniels defended him, you needed to decide is there another way that we can beat teams and then they beat the shit out of teams for 13 straight games. Let's say I'll say just on that lucky point and this is the thing I think I've gained the most appreciation for as I've kind of done some looking back and reflecting this summer. Like this team truly was several years in the making. I don't know if you want to put a number on it. At the very least they were two years in the making. Like everything that they went through the previous year under tips, what happened in the playoffs, that all the factors in it. I would even personally go past that. I would go all the way back to at least the start of the Jalen Brunson era.

Like the shared experiences they had, the injury you talk about this all the time, they learned for a fact there is no lead too large that they can't come back from. And you can't, so to look at the playoffs and see everything that they accomplished. Aside from the fact that like you might get, you might look into a win in the, it's possible to look into a win or two in the playoffs. You do not look and look into the greatest point differential in history. No. And I grew through wholeheartedly. This has been years in the making for people of paying attention. This isn't the Hawks, you know, beating the Knicks and the COVID short, you know, with the less fans and making a hot run. They got red hot and you never heard from them again. No, this has been building and building and building. And in seven game series, I don't believe in luck. This is not football. This is not the Super Bowl with, you know, crazy, you know, outside scenario. No, this is a seven game series. You need talent. You need defense. You need all offense.

You need good coaching and you're going through four series. Have 16 games. Yep. There's no luck there. They were the better team and the better team was holding the trophy. That's it. Take that Florida man. Yeah. We love you, Berwin. We love you, Berwin. Thank you for the contribution. And thank you to everybody that participated in our mailbag this year to everybody that, you want to talk about getting in things at the last minute. I gave everybody a deadline at this morning and guess how many I got this morning. A lot. It's all good to say. But thank you to getting all your questions in. CPL love when we do this mailbag every season. Always fun. Wait. Oh, I did it again. Always. I was waiting for it. I was waiting for it. One day I'm going to remember that there's 10 questions, not nine. I lost count. So buckle out. There's one more question. Last. Oh, hey, what's up, Macri? What's up, CP? I hope my question didn't get forgotten to the end again, like some overused bit.

But I hope you're both doing well. I hope you enjoyed the summer basking in the after-go of a next championship. Shout out to the locker room hat. Shout out to Little Larry. Shout out to Fanatic Sportsbook. A lot of demons were exercised over the past, over this playoff run, and really over the past couple of years. The next winning title means we never have to hear about Trey Young. We never have to hear about a single person from Boston. We never have to hear about a lot of demons from the 90s, because Jalen Brunson will forever have more rings than Reggie Miller. So there must be a new list of Nick's villains. And I want to know maybe it's by player, maybe it's by team. But who are your most hated Nick's villains now? What's the new list of the Nick's rivals? Is it still Indiana? Because the Nick's haven't beaten them yet during this era. Is it still Miami and Pat the Rat? Who, by the way, hasn't wanted to title with Outla Brons since 2006, which probably should be credited to the officiating in that series. They should all get rings for that title. Or maybe as we all learned during the finals, there's a new villain in Texas.

That we need to pay more attention to and they go to the top of the list. So while we will now never forget the Alamo, you please tell me what is your new list of the most hated Nick's villains now that the Nick's are NBA champions. I'll hang up and listen y'all. Macriott has head down the entire last minute. Did you completely blink? I was wearing the cowboy hat. Very completely missed. I thought it was hilarious. Yes. I was immediately when it started thinking while you're thinking just ahead. I don't know what else to do with this. I have. Did you wear it to a roulette? Did you wear it on vacation? No, C.P. I bought this before game one of the finals. I've worn it five times to that video. What's the fifth three times during the finals and the first time was to do it before like the first video that I made one of this verse for to make sure it fit. So yeah, how do you losers? Can I ask to clarification questions?

Please. Is it or we're listing teams or players or both? Both. And then I don't think the bulls are on site as much as Sean does. I think it's the. It's Michael Jordan is the actual villain that Nick's fans should be afraid of. But the Pacers have generations worth of. Okay. And so that was all franchise. That's my next question is it's like this is. So in theory, I could name like Michael Jordan as an answer to this question. Correct. Okay. Next. And then like is it this verse? Is it when B does does this past run and this new rivalry Nick Spurs? Yeah, does it crack the list? Um, man. Do you have a clear number one C.P.? Current. Just I got to go Haliburton. Haliburton in the past. It's the first name I wrote down. Yeah. Um. Because he's beating us. And he and twice. Yeah.

And he reveled in it. Twice. Yeah. So I'll go. I'll go. I'll go. Halle won. I will be clear. Is that Haliburton and the Pacers or just Haliburton? I feel like I can't do both. That's to be one of the other. Um, Haliburton. For me, I would go Haliburton. Yeah. And again, I have respect for him as a player. I fucking load him with the fire of a thousand times. Okay. So Haliburton won. I'll go. I'm actually going to go one B2. I really, really. Got a. Deep distaste in my mouth during that finals for that guy. And I think he thinks his shit doesn't stink. Even after they lost. And that actually pisses me off even more. And I think he thinks his shit doesn't stink. And that actually pisses me off even more. So I'll go one B2. Love this version of you. I did not care for any of that. I'll go. And then I'll go.

I can't even know if I had the heat. Make my list anymore. How sad is that for them? Um, I'll go and beat three because. Joel I'm. It's good. It's good. And for. Hmm. I'm gonna think about four for a second. Who else you got on yours? CP. I'm going to go Haliburton. I will go. Like the wimpy thing just because they're not in the same conference. Like you just don't know. You don't even know. Like, you know, if all things go well, you don't know if it will be the spurs on the other side. Maybe it's the thunder on the other side. So I will go. I will go Haliburton. I will go and beat. Slash LeBron on the same ticket. Oh, that's. And I will go with. I'm going to go. Kate. I'm going to go. Kate and the business man. I was thinking. I was thinking of Detroit. I'm not going to go. Kate. I'm going to go. Pistons fans. Yeah. Actually, the entire city of Detroit.

And the corpse of the auto industry that. That's right. That's right. That's my answer. I'm going to go with that. I still want to see the nicks get revenge. I didn't like the three blowouts last year. I didn't like Kate show out. I mean, that was a, you know, magnificent performance in the garden after the All Star break. They stuck it to the nicks. And I'm glad they got embarrassed in the playoffs. They almost got ousted by the magic. As they should have. They got exposed. I love to do Ren controversy going on right there. I like all the bad things that are coming to them right now. That lost bothered you. CP out of the all start break. It didn't. It didn't. I was like, you know, I was like, what's going on? Did how did you feel about that? Did you? How did you say anything? Did Mark? I don't remember. I was on vacation at the time. You're on vacation. I actually. So here's my hottest takeer than pod. You want to know how I hope the pistons revenge happens. I hope they go three and oh, against the nicks again, and then they just like losing the first wrap. Oh, does. Forever. I forgot.

Congrats on your regular season banners. Yeah. You used to celebrate titles. Now you celebrate beating the nicks. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Now officially that concludes our video mailbag or crossover. Thank you to everybody who contributed. Thank you to the CP. And of course, to you, Jonathan. And yes, thank you to Nick's nation for always supporting all the things that you do. What you do. What this franchise has allowed us to do. So thank you everybody. Thank you. You're the man. Thank you, Andrew for compiling this. I know this is a lot of legwork for you. You're welcome. You're very good at it. I will just say, well, congratulations, champ again. And I wish us both the best of luck in the year ahead. Absolutely, man. This has been nine, ten years of of a magical ride. We ended in, we kind of ended in, because we never really end, right? But like we sort of ended in Vegas, which has been like another annual tradition. Yeah.

Which I'm happy about. We started it at the lottery, at slatteries, hoping for Zion and, you know, just to see how this journey has, you know, has been. It's just so real, man. So definitely appreciate the collab. Always love doing these shows. Andrew, the hardest work and producer in sports. Slow to you, man. Appreciate you, CP. Appreciate you, Mr. Claudio. And appreciate everybody for contributing questions and everybody as always for checking out another episode of the Nix Film School podcast. We will be back with a, we have something coming at the beginning next week, but I'll like it. Right now is the display basketball game. On Monday night, it's a preseason game against the sixers. The Raptors, I think there's a raptor. Oh, six six six six six six six six six six six six. Yeah. So they open the season and they open the preseason against the sixers. Okay. Weisman versus Hawk Portee. Let's go. Overreactions. James Weisman versus Hawk Portee and the gang.

Through the hip and he's Simon's and company. It's kind of be a bomb. Over over under on how many post game comments are like, we let Hawk Portee walk for this fucking guy. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's going to be beautiful. We're going to be back, man. I'm looking forward to it. That's what I'm saying. Okay. Thanks everybody. We will be back when we're running for you know it. Peace out.
