Borregales Swaps Jersey for Super Bowl Run | NFL News

0:00It's September 7. This is NFL News today, AI-powered stories from around the league. I'm Cory with the story. So, the Patriots kicker, Andy Borragales, he's switching his jersey number for the upcoming 2026 season. He's going from 36 to number 8. He said it's a number he's had since he was 5 years old. The very first one he ever wore when he started playing football. He waited to see if it would be available, and when it was, he grabbed it. Last season, as a rookie, he rocked number 36. He had a solid year, hitting 27 out of 32 field goals, and 53 out of 55 extra points. He even helped the team make it all the way to the Super Bowl. Before joining the NFL, when he was playing at Miami, he actually wore number 30. But now, for his second year in the league, he's going back to number 8, a number that clearly means something to him. The team is looking to make another run at the Super Bowl this year, and it seems like Borragales is feeling good about this change.

1:01It's a little bit of nostalgia mixed with a fresh start for the season. It's always interesting to see these little personal touches players bring to the game, especially when it connects them back to where they started. Number 8 is his lucky number, and hopefully, it brings him and the Patriots good fortune.
