About this episode
“Cities are growing, with UN forecasting rapid urbanisation over the coming decades, how do we ensure they get smarter, on which cities have a blueprint that addresses rapidly evolving infrastructure requirements?”From the transcript
On this episode of Stock Movers:
- Boeing (BA) shares rise after the Pentagon selected the aerospace company over rival, Northrop Grumman, to build the Navy’s next-generation fighter jet — the Sixth-Generation F/A-XX Strike Fighter.
- Concentrix (CNXC) shares are mixed. The company posted mixed fiscal third-quarter results as it navigates a shift toward artificial-intelligence-powered customer-service tools.
- DoorDash (DASH) shares rise. The company unveiled an artificial intelligence agent for ordering food that works inside Apple Inc.'s Messages app, allowing consumers to enter text commands without accessing the DoorDash app. The company is opening a waitlist for US-based customers to try out the new service, which matches phone numbers with DoorDash user profiles and facilitates checkout with stored payment methods.

Cities are growing, with UN forecasting rapid urbanisation over the coming decades, how do we ensure they get smarter, on which cities have a blueprint that addresses rapidly evolving infrastructure requirements? Find out more later in the podcast. The Stock Movers Report, your roundup of companies making moves in the stock market, harnessing the power of Bloomberg data. Let's take a look at some of the stocks on the move today. We can do that with Angie and she's earning some money for Bloomberg News and a pro-gradioative Duke University. So she can stay. There's too many tar heels in Bloomberg News. I agree. Not enough blue devil. It's not blue circles. I know, but it's just, I think it's all this Peter from Greenwich was a big at the University of North Carolina. And they have a good journalism school. I get it. But it's good to have some Dukeies here. So, and what are you looking at today? I am looking at Boeing. That's the first company on my list.
Ticker is BA shares were up as much as 2.8%. This morning, because the Pentagon said yesterday that Boeing has won a new deal to produce the US Navy's next fighter jet. This award is valued at more than $20 billion. And it's the second major fighter jet program that Boeing has won in the past two years. So that's very good news for Boeing's defense division and can also help offset some of the challenges that Boeing has been facing with its passenger aircraft like the 737 MAX, which had a fresh certification set back recently. Boeing beat out Northrop Grumman, which is ticker NOC for the deal. And that is down around 4% this morning. Fascinating. So you're also looking at a call center operator this morning. Tell us more about that. Yes, I am. The next company on my list is concentrics, which is ticker CNXC. Shares are climbing as much as 4.3% now after the call center
and the customer service software firm forecast revenue that would actually fall short of expectations this morning. And then shares actually fell and have since reversed those losses. So I think this is the sign that investors are still really uncertain about the long-term impact of AI on businesses like concentrics. We've seen a lot of concern about the SaaS apocalypse, especially for larger software firms and the question of how much software businesses are going to be able to replace with AI. And so I think the reaction here shows that it's a little bit more of a mixed bag for smaller companies like concentrics. And it's certainly still an open question that investors have. Gotcha. Door dash, which philosophically I'm against the whole concept of door dash. Go ahead. On the other me. Door dash is another AI story. It's ticker D.A.S.H. Shares have been sliding and are down as much as 2.5%. After a whole slew of announcements this morning, including the launch of new AI powered tools for both delivery workers and restaurant managers,
as well as a new drone delivery system and a text order AI agent feature. Similarly, investors have concerns about AI and a long-running question for companies like DoorDash has been how much AI agents are going to cut into ad revenue, which obviously depends on the... Has anybody seen a drone delivery yet? No, I don't get it. If you want a drone coming down and landing in your yard. No, it doesn't look bugs and stuff up in the air, getting on your pizza or... Yeah, or your... Or the drone. Or the drone's going to eat the drone. This stock movers report from Bloomberg Radio. I'm Jacob Greaves, host of Economy and Scale, a series exploring growth in key global sectors. And in this episode, we're diving into how innovation is being hardwired into urban development. Rohit Kumar from Seema's Advanta has this to say. Essentially, AI will allow in the smart cities space to compress a lot of things. The speed will change. Dubai is one city embracing such technology as a growth engine, and has also seen its population surge by a third in just five years. Dr. Safani, a tap-yes from engineering consultancy WSP, says. And I think Dubai has learned a lot from sudden increase in population, which doesn't happen everywhere in the world. And I think they reacted very well to it. They have a long-term urban planning vision, which again doesn't happen everywhere in the world. Listen to the full episode, wherever you get your podcasts.
