3:30And obviously, your chant these names frequently at last night, and letting them know on certain terms how they feel about him, and also plauding and cheering for one of their favorite players of all time. Yeah, I thought they did a good job. I've seen a lot of people complain about several different things that the MedFan did last night, and being called outrageous and unacceptable, I have zero problem with anything that was done last night. In fact, let me take that back. I don't love booing your young pitcher when he walks him. That's a little bit much for me. Like, it wasn't like you were there. It was a quarkie. I understand that. It wasn't a four-pitch walk. He was battling with Peter Lonzo, trying to win the game, and he walked him. I felt booing that moment was a tad bit much. Outside of that. He stopped the first second. I don't think they were booing. No, they're booing the pitcher. Jonah's hung. They were booing him and the meds to hit. They wanted Peter Lonzo to get a chance to hit a homerun. They were there more last night as MedFans

4:33to celebrate Peter Lonzo, one of their favorite meds. I didn't think that I was a Jonah talking, you saw it. No, I get, oh no, it wasn't that. But still, it seemed a bit much to go over that line to me. It just seemed like he's trying to pitch out there. You're gonna boom for not grooving a meatball to Peter Lonzo. He has to throw a festival down the middle. Otherwise, you're not happy. What have made him happy? Like, exactly. That's a tad bit over the line for me. But again, for the most part, the idea that they have cheered at every opportunity, that's why they went there. I have no problem with that. I have no problem with them getting up and leaving once Peter Lonzo was done. Which a lot of people say. I have no, they voice, and we talked about it going in. That was going to be a night, not only to celebrate Pete, but an opportunity to the fan base to let David Sterns know and to let this ownership group know that they are unhappy with not only letting Pete go, but what they replaced them with. And what this team became this year, which was eliminated from the postseason last night.

5:33So if they want to get up and leave, the second that Peter Lonzo was done with that game, they had every right to do that. I think you could have predicted it. That's what I would have did. I'm not here to watch the meds tonight. I'm a die hard season ticket holding that fan. I'm here to watch Pete. And because he was my favorite med, he was one of the best meds for ever, the case, maybe. You're a bad fan, you want to chime in on that there, Biggs? Yeah, everyone complaining about booing Jonathan, walking Peter Lonzo, but if Peter Lonzo hit a whole run off of Jonathan, we'd be cheering. Isn't that just insulting to Jonathan? Of course it is. So then what the hell's different? But there wasn't about Jonathan. Well, that's the point. That's how his name could have been Bob Smith last night. But that would have been a plotting Pete. This was frustration that you didn't give Pete the opportunity to do something. Right. Like Jonathan is supposed to groove in fastballs. I do have a distinct difference there. If he hits the home run and you're celebrating it, that's just the celebration of Pete and would be taken as such. To me, booing, walking him is like, hey,

6:34don't you understand the game plan, kid? Tonight's giving fastballs and hoping it's a home run. It's hey, Jonah, why am I sitting at my seat tonight? It's not to watch you strike out Peter Lonzo exactly or welcome or welcome. It's about I want to see Peter Lonzo swing the back. You challenge him. Why are we walking? I want to see him hit a home run challenge him. You've ruined an opportunity we had to see Pete come through in a big moment. Once the moment happens, uploading him is different from me. That's all I'm saying. You were pissed off that the meds didn't say, hey, you go. I guess yes. Here you go. Besides that, I think everything else was. I saw the pregame where we're trying to read lips here. Steve Cohen said to him, look like you said to him, this will always be your home or something along with lines, which is a big, I mean, if this was always this home, it'd be here. Right? I know Steve made him a $7,000, $160,000 offer and he said no to it and he risked it and paid off for him. So that's all water into the bridge now. I thought that was a little cheesy. Cheesy. But this will always be your home when you made a decision or allowed your GM to make

7:37a decision that you didn't get to finish here, where it's his only home in Major League Baseball. So I thought that was a little cheesy out of the owner. But do you think what happened last night with the fan base and it's going to happen again tonight? It's going to happen again tonight. It's going to happen again tomorrow. Do you think there's any aspect of that that is so embarrassing to Steve Cohen and his brain trust that they act on it. I'm a standpoint of being really stupid in this off season and trying to build the team a different way. No. See, I don't either. I don't think it impact. I think they're immune to it. Yeah, I think they're immune. I don't think David Surns heard a single boo last night. No, yeah. David Surns might not even been paying attention. I think David Surns just took the night off. I think David Surns even in the bill. Yeah, I bet you was. It was probably in Japan watching the scouting. I that one guy that won hitter that they love. Yeah. It's a guy in Japan that he's all about. I would I doubt he's very he was at the ballpark paying attention to it.

8:37I don't think you can. That's probably the best thing for him is to not be surprised. Steve Cohen was in the ballpark last night. I mean, I'm surprised. No, I'm surprised. He said this will always be your home. You got some nerve. You could have made it his home very easily. Yeah, very easily. I turned down a contract a couple years ago. He didn't. But he tried. He tried two years ago. He loved him seven years of bug 58. Yeah. Pete said no. And that's not Pete. That's not Steve Cohen. And then they gave him the one and one deal. And Pete played well enough to get the Orioles deal. Turning down is on Pete. So he bet on himself and he earned another contract. Yes, but I want to be clear and choose to give it to him. When nobody else thought Pete was worth seven years, $158 million. That's not true. Steve Cohen offered it to him. Wait, Steve, when did he all from seven before last year? It was 2023 and it was before David Sterns. So they did all for him a seven as a contract extension while he's still under contract before anyone could all from a contract. And then no one offered him a contract. I think Craig is saying that you know that he was offered that first year. He was before he signed the deal that was one plus one deal.

9:41Okay. So one year deal he had the option. He opted out. He gets the Orioles deal before that one you deal before that one year deal. Steve Cohen offered him a seven year deal for 160 something million dollars. Okay. Pete had just fired his agent because he had Brandon Nimmo in his ear and Brandon Nimmo's wife telling Pete Alonzo's wife, look what, what's his name? Just got me. Boris. Yes. Boris just got Brandon Nimmo. I'll tell you the whole story. Right. Just go through real quick. So Brandon Nimmo's wife calls Pete Alonzo's wife up and says, I know you're about to negotiate with the Mets. I know you've had a long time agent who's a great guy and a great agency. Scott Boris just got Brandon a $100 million deal. You got to fire your agent and go with Boris. Look what he did for my husband. So Pete and his wife, you'll huddle up about it. And I think in a bit of a cowardly move, Pete Alonzo fires the only agent he ever had.

10:41Right. Who always did right by him. Great guy, okay. He hired Scott Boris. Before the Boris thing happened, Steve Cohen offered him a seven year deal for something in the neighborhood of 160 something million dollars. So I just want to be clear. This is not the one and one. This is not the contract extension that was offered prior to him being free agent. This is him in the first year free agency where he gets the one year contract. This is right before he signed the last contract he did sign with the Mets, which was the, he was a free agent. Okay. It was a one year deal with an option. So I'm pretty sure he's going to go for them a contract. Right. So Steve Cohen invites him to his home and says, I want to talk to you like man to man because my baseball people tell me that it's a crazy offer. You can't get this offer anywhere else. Now, whether that's true or not, it relevant in material. Okay. He says, I'm begging you to take my money. The baseball people tell me you can't get this money on the open market.

11:45Trust me as a wealthy man, this sets you and your family up for the rest of your lives and you retire as a met. And that's what I want. Okay. Okay. Pete then fires his agent, hire Scott Boris. Boris says, tell Steve Cohen, no, thank you. And Steve Cohen begs private too strong a word. He tried to act like a big brother to him. And he said, listen, trust me, I'm a wealthy man. Take my money. I want to give you the money. And again, my baseball people tell me you're not getting this offer anywhere else. Boris comes in. Pete does the one and one deal, which he only gets because remember, nobody else made Peter Lonser an offer. That offseason. Yeah. Pete Lonser calls up Steve Cohen personally and says, can I meet you at your home without anybody else, meaning no Scott Boris? And Steve says, of course, you can't. Peter Lonser goes to Steve Cohen's house somewhat, you know, tell Patreone's legs a little

12:45bit and says, look, I messed up. You were right. I should have signed it. I still believe I'm a really good baseball player. And I believe in Scott Boris believes I can get more, but I want to come back to the meds. At that point, Steve Cohen tells his general manager and the front office, I'm going to give Peter Lonser a one year deal with the player option. And let's see what happens. That's what happened. Pete gets the one and one deal. He has the great year and that that sort of allows the Orioles to then come in and make him the offer that they made in which he's credit was better than the offer Steve Cohen made him a year earlier, which was seven years about a buck six. That by the way, cannot be disputed. That is facts. That's exactly how it happened. So I'll met fans and I understand the passion. Want to blame David Sterns and Steve Cohen for Pete Lonser not being a met two years

13:45ago. Pete Lonser could have signed on to be a met for life seven years, ballpark $160 million. He said no to that deal. And then once he said no, that was it. He wasn't offered to him again. Then it was the one year deal. One on one, right. Right. You did say something that nobody else has said before everyone saying that he doesn't never want it to be a met. You said that he went back to Steve and said, I want to be a met. He came out and said, you were right. The offers aren't out there. And he panicked as many of us would. He's all of a sudden like nobody wants me. Steve Cohen did him a solid by saying after you turned me down, I still gave you the lifeline of a one plus one deal. So you guys can yell and scream all you want about David Sterns to be fair. Sterns didn't want him two years ago and told Steve Cohen I think his best days are behind him. That's factual. But Steve Cohen overruled his general manager and tried twice to make sure that Peter Lonzo stayed with the New York Mets.

14:47I don't think that's been reported in that many places. I don't think my fans know that I listening to Evan today. Evan is unaware of that. Well, they should be aware of it. I've been staying on this show for a year now. Evan believes that the contract extension that was offered to them that he turned down while he was still with the Mets. They offered him a long term contract extension before he hit free agency two years before you. That is not accurate. That's accurate. That's you say they offered him a seven year contract. I think the number is 168. You could fact check that out. I have is a seven year one fifty eight, right? So maybe it's maybe I'm just making up the six and set up a five. But that's what happened. Steve Cohen made him an offer and met with him in person and begged him to sign that offer. And he didn't go ahead. Also to be fair and I wanted feedback and I have no problem. Jeff Fane's Chint Fire Sturns. He twice went and looked for other contracts, other places. So yes, he wanted to stay in that. I agree with that. After no one wanted him.

15:47And he came back. He signed it. He's not like he signed a December. And by the way, he only signed here because Steve Cohen was nice enough to say yes, I'll meet with you after Pete turned him down. Yeah. He made him an offer that his baseball people told him, this is a stupid offer. You don't have to offer Pete that much money now. Turned out he has the great year on the one and one contract and the Orioles overpay him. Good for him. So I get to the end of the day. Boris was right and Pete got more money. But this notion, this narrative that's out there that Steve Cohen is the reason that Pete Alonzo is not a met for life is not factually accurate. It's not that he's the reason he he's not the reason he is a met. And he could have been well the second time. I'm not doing this again. If you want to go test the market on this one, it's on you. Why not match to you for the Orioles because I tell you why because as a business person,

16:48I made you the best offer when nobody made you an offer and you turned your back on me. Well, that's not personal as a business person. He should do what. No, but when you when you're in the cutthroat environment that Steve Cohen has lived in, I've been more successful than just about anyone else on the planet. That's fair. There's a different level of self-respect than a lot of people have. I made you an offer that was stupid. You turned your back on that offer. Okay, you're a big boy. You're an adult. You're allowed to. We can be friends afterwards. Yeah, but then you came to me on Bended Knee and you begged me, please, I want to come back. I have no offers out there. And I did right by you. And then me doing right by you. And I once per twice, you repaid me for that by going to Baltimore. At some point, I've got to say no to you. And that's what happened. And anybody that disputes that is lying to you, because that's the direct fact of what took place. You don't think that in any way that Peter Lonzo was tired of trying to go back to the mess and be like, listen, I finally get paid. You want to come and get me?

17:48You want to get money? No, because at that point, now you've David Stern's reminding Steve Cohen, I'm telling you, he's not worth that money. We're not going to get our bang for the investment. And by the way, year one goes to Pete. Pete, obviously, leads the American League. He's going to hit how many homeruns? 40 close to 40, 30, 30, 40 homeruns. I think that's 35 now. 35, but good for him. Three more wins. Good for him. Right? Three more wins. So Peter Lonzo is also not playing in the postseason this year. No. He's not. And even if it's on the meds, obviously, probably not going to have to carry the meds, but you don't know. So we have to stop this invented narrative that this is on Steve Cohen. Now if you want to play Dave Blame, David Stern. Did you want him three years ago or two years ago? Here's the one thing I'll push back on. Like to me, yes, you offered him a contract, right? He offered him a contract that was a significant contract. He turned it down. That's business. He turned down a contract. Then when he has the monster year and the money is there for him and the Orioles and other

18:53teams are willing to give him long term contracts, then that's up to you to decide whether or not now it's the right investment to and he said it wasn't. Pete would have taken the same contract that the Orioles gave him if the meds gave it to him. Let me give you a business. Let me give you a more. Yeah. Facts. These facts cannot be argued. Okay. That off season when he turned Steve down and had no other office and came back to Steve for the one plus one deal. You may remember when Peter Lonzo went to the Vatican. You remember that story? Yeah. He and his wife went out to the Vatican. Yes. Yes. Yes. Because he was so spooked about the fact he didn't have a single offer. Nobody wanted Peter Lonzo. That is a fact. The New York Mets offered him in the middle of 2022 where the year and a half left on his deal. In the middle of the 20. That's seven year deal. Yeah. For one 58, everybody's talking about. Yeah. If Peter Lonzo wanted to be a Met for life, the paperwork was on his desk.

19:56All you got to do was sign it. Yeah. So again, we can be revisionist historians. We can yell and scream about David Sons all we want. David Sons had the worst season. Any journal manager in the sport of baseball had that's not up for debate. He was terrible. Not a single decision he made, panned out. But as much as I've had my issues with Steve Cohen, Steve Cohen did everything in his power to make sure that Peter Lonzo was a Met for life. And all Pete had to do was say, thank you and sign a piece of paper for seven years, $158 million. And they did that with the year and a half left on his deal. Yeah, but that's what I'm saying. Like, all right. So he was offered a contract. So was Aaron Judge. Aaron Judge turned it down. And then Aaron Judge had a monster year. And the Yankees had to give him a big time contract and Aaron Judge gave the Yankees value Aaron Judge more than the Met's value. Peter Lonzo. Bingo. Yeah. Bingo. And guess what? Aaron Judge is a better baseball player than Peter Lonzo.

20:56And the money wasn't close. You know, I mean, it was what was the sense of just go offer. Do you remember what it was? Because it was between the Yankees and the giants, right? It was right there. I think it was pretty much the same offer. The Yankees went the one more year after Judge asked about it, but there are rumors now that the San Diego Padres offer them 400 million. But that confirmed I've got as a factor. I think that's been kind of confirmed as fact. But the point being like, he bent on himself and said, thanks, but no thanks. I don't want to sign a contract now. I want to get to free agency when they got to free agency. Yeah, the market wasn't there. And he had to come back to the Met's with his tail between his legs and the Met's gave him a one year deal, didn't have to do. They did not have to play that. Let's say the Met's don't do that. But then he earned this contract. They got from the Orioles. And if the Met's wanted them to the point where the owners stand on the field last night, saying this will always be your home. If you wanted it to be Peter Lonzo's home, you could have paid him the money, the Orioles. Yeah, back goes both ways. You chose not to. Because both ways. Both of them. If you really wanted him, yes. But he bent on himself like countless others like Max Scherzer has done like Wansoto did,

21:58like Aaron Judge did. Countless guys turned down one term contracts while they're still under contract. So then why did he go to the Vatican to pray that he got an offer? Because he bent on himself and failed year one and the Met and he had no offer. And the belt around the Met's gave him a one year deal. So why don't we why don't we talk about that part of it? The Met's bailed him out. He was at the Vatican praying because of any offers. Yeah. He could come Steve Cohen and bail them out. Well, I mean, he would have got an offer. Like we can't that happened. He would eventually someone would have eventually given him a one year deal. How do you know that? Because someone was going to give nobody did not a single teammate of an offer. How many home runs someone was eventually going to give him a one year deal. The big long term deal wasn't there. And if he's only going to sign a one year deal, he wanted it to be with the Met. Guess what? Nobody did though. Someone would have met. Okay. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I can say it's a fact nobody did somebody would have. Well, that's easy to say that. No, because they disagree with nobody. Nobody did because they knew that wasn't going to be good enough to get him. He was going to go back to the Met.

22:59Okay. But the point again is nobody did. I okay. Do I think he would have been done with his career? No, I don't. Obviously. But I would have paid him to that. But I would say that nobody made him an offer. I just hate when people invent things. No one's inventing anything. There's crazy narrative that, yo, somehow Steve Cohen wronged Peter Lonzo. No, you don't. I don't think wrong is the right term. I agree with you. He didn't wrong Peter Lonzo, but you didn't want him. I'm sorry. He didn't want him. He didn't want him enough. He offered him seven years of bug 58. I went nobody wanted Peter Lonzo. He gave him a charity offer. I wasn't a charity. It's kind of like Steve Cohen did want Peter Lonzo. Unfortunately, Steve Cohen did the right thing by not bullying his president of baseball operations to go and pay Peter Lonzo. That's where he went wrong. But I mean, why do you guys? Why do you guys, I'm gonna say you, because I don't think you're doing this as much as Pete might be doing it. Maybe I'm wrong on both. Okay. Why does everybody neglect to remember that when Pete didn't have any offers at all, it's

24:02Steve Cohen that made him an offer. But I'm on Steve. Why doesn't that count for something? I don't. I'm on Steve Cohen's side. My biggest issue is he's allowing David Sturge to run the team, which he shouldn't be. He should be. Yes. He's wrong moves. By the way, David Sturge did make a single right move this off season, but you're complaining with your lines of stories. No, but here's the point. They offered him a long term contract before he hit free agency. He said, no, I want to test free agency. I think I'm that good. Then he gets the free agency offer bad year, which by the way, he had a great postseason, including the biggest home run arguably in Mets franchise history, right? Yeah. So he gets the free agency and the long term offers aren't there. No offers there. There's no offers there. Correct. I think it's to the Mets and eventually tail between his legs. He's like Steve Cohen. Tail between his legs because there was no contract and eventually I think there was an assumption that they would be a meeting of the minds and the rest of the baseball didn't want to bid against Steve Cohen and eventually the short term deal that was only out there was going to be signed by the Mets.

25:03So but my point being he did come back and they gave him the one year deal. So they didn't offer him a long term contract at that moment. They didn't think he was worth a long term contract. They eventually gave him the one year deal. Many has the great year earns the long term contract. Multiple teams are willing to give him long term contracts and they say no thanks. They didn't know who else offered him a long term contract. I think who is the feelings for it? And it was going to be the winner who they got Schwarber. Whoever was going to be the Schwarber loser. I guess Schwarber resigned first. Yes, because they never made him an off to more offered Schwarber a big time contract. He ends up staying with Philadelphia and then Baltimore immediately because I tell you the fillies never made Peter and off. That's also fact because they got Schwarber. If they didn't make Schwarber, maybe they would have. But the money was there. They decided not to go get him and whether that's the owner allowing the guy he hired to make baseball decisions, to make baseball decisions, which is a prudent process. Last thing we got to take a break. My final thing on this is you can't look at the Peter Lanzo history with the Mets solely

26:04through the glasses of last off season. You have to include what happened prior to that. If you want to tell the entire story, you can't only look at, well, after the good year and the one plus one contract, the Mets didn't make him an off for that's fine. But you can't forget what they did from the year before that. Peter Lanzo would be out of baseball. Obviously business is business. They did him a favor year one. They didn't want him year two. Yeah, but let's not forget year one. That's all. Again, I don't even know if it's doing him a favor. They signed a one-man job. He wasn't going to have a job. He's peed along. They could have a job. Nobody offered him one. He could say to me that does someone avenge once the Mets come out and say we are not giving him anything, not a year, not anything. Someone's offering Peter Lanzo a year to play baseball. So then the question is how come nobody did? I mean, you know, Griffin can and got a year to play baseball. Someone's going to get Peter Lanzo a year to play baseball. Except nobody did. They would have eventually. Well, it's easy to say that. No, it's it's more than easy, but it didn't happen. It's but I like to live in the real world.

27:04I live in the real world. Nobody made it an offer. The three-time leader in home runs was a free agent and was offered a big time contract from the Baltimore Orioles and the richest owner in the sport said go take it. That's the that is what happened. A year after he saved his ass and kept on the baseball. Whatever. And a year before that he even matched it. He would have taken maybe how do we know Peter Lanzo takes the hometown discount and says, you know what? You did me a favor. I'll do you a favor. I probably would have offered him nothing. He was greedy. They offered him nothing. He might not have taken a discount. He's a greedy bastard. Sorry. I know it's all because of Brandon Nemo. If Brandon Nemo doesn't get that deal from with Scott Boris, Peter Lanzo never leaves his agent. It's Nemo's fault though. It's Nemo's wife's fault. Oh, yeah. I told you for John is undefeated. Peter Lanzo's wife said, listen, baby, we're going with Scott Boris because Nemo just got a hundred million bucks and he stinks. Mm-hmm. Yeah, and he's like, okay, what did he say? That's what happened. Then he got a one-year deal. He broke the old time franchise home run record.

28:04And then he got a better. Which is by the way, in a embarrassing number. Then he got a better contract. 263 home runs were celebrating it like he's Baybrooth. When he makes the Hall of Fame, is he going into the Hall of Fame? He's going to hit 500 home runs. No, he's not. He's won away from 300. Yeah. He's got plenty of years left. Is that right? Yes. Okay, we'll see what happens to power haters in the mid 30s. And five years to check. Yeah. He's not having 500 home runs. He's not going to the Hall of Fame. He's never been a Hall of Fame player. Stop it. It's because he has 260 home runs for the Met. Doesn't mean he's a Hall of Fame or 29 career home runs right now. All right, I thought he had a 300. Is he still in Lindorah? He's in Lindorah one short. Is that right? They have the same number for him. They celebrate today. Yeah. Lindorah the fake clapping last night. He was clapping while he was muttering on his breath. Pete hits a game tying home run against Kodai sang of the crowd goes nuts. He takes a curtain call. Three hundred. The thumb of 300. And then of course they lose on an inside the park homerun. I want to ask a very, I know it's hilarious. I do have to ask a very basic question about my dear friend, Peter Lonzo. Who I love. I love him. I have a so supportive of him to be here. The whole thing. Pete, if you're listening, simple question, did you really need to take a curtain call?

35:21Like was that necessary? Why are you upset about that? I'm asking a question. I'm out upset. Don't judge me. I'm asking what was that need hearing him? Okay. Like loudly. Was there a gun to his head? No. I'm wrong with taking a curtain call. I am merely asking the question that yes, the med fans were excited. Now most people, I don't think everybody was cheering. I was talking to Sal who was in the building last night. He wasn't. Okay. And I think there were other med fans who were like hands on their or ass on their hands. Like they weren't cheering. Was it necessary? And I love you, Pete. And you've gotten plenty of love for the last two days. Was it necessary? Just because your teammates told you? No. They were only made in one day. Was it his teammates? It was the roar of the crowd. So let me ask you this, Evan, as the baseball historian, the lover of the game from the moment your dad started taking you when you were in knee high to a tadpole. Like why would he not?

36:23What would be the reason for Peter Lonzo not? Because he doesn't need to. Not to take a curtain call. Because it's not that normal to take a curtain call on the road. We know it's happened. You're 100. Okay. Okay. Doesn't matter. You don't have to do it. Like do you guys remember back a long time ago, Mark McGuire hit his 50th home run at Chase Stadium and the crowd went nuts. Like med fans were cheering Mark McGuire's milestones on runs. I hated it. I was in the building for it. Didn't like it. Mark McGuire chose not to come out of the dugout. Okay, but he could have taken a curtain call on that random August day. Hold on. Why did Peter Lonzo have to rub it in by taking a curtain call? Didn't Mark McGuire spend 80% of ultimately of his career with the New York men? Nobody was getting a wild innovation. Of course he was because he's marked, steroid or HDH McGuire, smashing home runs that brought baseball back. It was amazing to watch that. But this is the easiest answer to the question you're asking. Then you've ever posed. What's the answer? The fans were imploring. I don't buy that.

37:24I don't buy that. He was getting fans. We're cheering the hell out of him. You don't have to take a curtain call. Okay. But why would he not? He's the baseball reason for him not to do it. It would be the baseball etiquette reason for him not to do it. Just tell me it's not your stadium because you're the road team. It's not necessary. It was almost like yesterday Steve Cohen say, this is always your home. We all know what that was full of crap. Okay. Concerned, never made him an offer. Did he not say it? Yeah, he said it. Okay. But so if he says it the day before and in the following day, he had just 300th home run and in his mind, hey, the owner just said, this is always be my home. I'm going to go out there cheering me like crazy. I'm going to go out and take a curtain. He didn't have to though. Of course he didn't have to. He didn't have to. But why would he not? Because you don't look. Peter Lonzo, since the moment this series began, was getting cheered by everybody. There were Peter Lonzo chance. There was standing ovation. He got bigger ovation in game one than game two. I think there are different people like game two than game one. So it's people's first chances to cheer him and show the love.

38:26And yes, the crowd was cheering when he had a game tying home run. I acknowledge it. It wasn't everybody, but there was cheering going on. Because people are cheering for you doesn't mean you got to do the 17th different thing to basically get the love. You're already getting the love. You didn't have to come out of the dugout. And Peter Lonzo ran through that dugout all excited all pumped up in a game tying home run good for him or else in a pen race. And because Colby Mayo or Christian and Carson, Carson, Carson, Carson, Carson, Carson on the strand says you should go out there. You got to go out there. Like all I'm hearing about is I can't believe met fans demanded a curtain call. Dude, he had to accept it. He had to go out and tip his hand basically rub it in. And I love Pete. I've defended this guy for years. Okay. Unnecessary. It was unnecessary. Well, be honest with you. Shouldn't you, if you're Peter Lonzo, rub it in to us? Yes. Well, he's rubbing it into David Sterns. What about the fans? What about the fans who just were asking him to come out? They were cheering. It doesn't mean they were asking for a curtain call when the cheer lasts longer than, let's say, eight seconds. They're what you to come out and acknowledge it.

39:27But you don't have to every time. Of course you do. But yes, he's called him yesterday. This will always be your home. Stop with fans. Love. I'm just I'm stating facts. I'm not giving opinions. I'm stating facts. That Steve said that is a fact, but it's BS considering his actions. Come on. The this is in over three years. The most insane opening. I've heard Evan Roberts do. Why? Because just surprised I'm turning on Pete Lonzo. No, you thought I was just going to defend the body. Every cause. There's a couple of things so wrong here. Evan, this is classic. I'm going to make a look over here to not look over there. And you're just glossing over the fact that yeah, most of the fans in that building absolutely game a curtain call and then took their own curtain call. Basically, they left the stadium that they stuck it to the man and Steve Cohen and David Sterns. Evan, was it necessary for Juan Soto and Yankee Stadium to tip his cap as he got booed on his return? No, it's not. It's not because that Pete Alonzo taken a curtain call without the fans cheering. Would you have laughed about it and said that's kind of funny. You stuck it back to him. Pete Alonzo took that curtain call because the fans asked him and he was trying his best

40:30because he didn't get to say goodbye the proper way to give what the fans in that building were asking for their proper goodbye. This is a thousand and 10% on the met fans in that building last night. And none of that is on Pete Alonzo for sure. With the fans. He didn't have a garbage tape, but he didn't have to. Like I made a joke to you guys a couple days ago. Maybe it was last week and it was a very quick joke. I said, Pete Alonzo took his hat before he gets to home plate, almost like he's anticipating it. And a part of that is I think Pete like knows just they love the adulation and rightfully so. And he's gotten all of it over the last two and a half days. Of course. I don't think that was necessary and it elevates the story because not every time a player gets cheered, they come out for a curtain call. Not every single time. Definitely on the road, but even at home. Yeah. Guys at home runs all the time. You're discounting the fact that this was his 300th home run. I'm not discounting it. Yes, you are. I'm saying he didn't need the popus head out of the dugout. I thought he was rubbing it in even more. And I know that some do get that as a rubbin on David Sterns was also rubbing on us.

41:32Okay. I met fans. I felt rubbed in. Okay. Do you think that most of the fans in the stadium last night knew that it was just 300 times? Oh, we all know that they were champion champion. The fact that their homegrown star hit a milestone that is just it's special. Yeah. Now it's not call of fame worthy yet. But it's a special milestone hit 300 home runs and they wanted to acknowledge a guy that they still feel really tight to. Yeah. It's like say one bark that go into the Philadelphia Eagles having success and some giant fans are like, yeah, good for him, man. It sucks for us because it's the eagle and but you know what? I love say one. It's the same thing. No, it's even it's even better because it's not a rifle. Right. So I think that they just love Peter Lonzo and they were acknowledging a major milestone. I am not ripping med fans for cheering him. We explained this yesterday like we all handled this differently. The way I handled it was I cheered him for his first step at. I hope he had a home run in his first step at from that moment on. He was the enemy.

42:33I was not happy at a home run last time. I'd be perfectly honest with you. I wasn't excited about it. I wasn't pumped up about it. It wasn't the thing that annoyed me the most would annoyed me the most was two other things coming out for the curtain call. But you know what else annoyed me? Him making a freaking diving play that saved the game from being tied before they eventually tied it. For all I heard about the lectures on how bad his defense is, which was always a lie. It was always a lie. It was always BS. Peter Lonzo looking like Superman making a diving play. Yeah, it pissed me off. And while I'm pissed at David Sterns and I'm pissed at the Met's decisions, I didn't need the rubbing it in. And so I know that this whole week has been about loving Pete and I do love Pete. He'll always have a warm place in my heart. But I'll be the guy to call it out. He did not have to get out of that dugout. He did not have to tip his hat. And quite frankly, he didn't have to rub it in for the 500th time. Even if his intention was to rub it in on David Sterns, the shrapnel is us. The shrapnel is me. And so with all due respect, Sean, I respect your opinion.

43:33I do. I'm just telling you, so it's not a take. I don't want to hear it. It's a take. This is how I feel. Okay. I watched the game last night and I was, I wasn't there. I admit I was there the night before. I was a little agitated at Pete Alonso for coming out of that dugout. And in my opinion, rubbing it in for the 500th time. So this isn't a take. This is emotion. Okay. And that's my emotion. Your emotion is misdirected, man. And I don't, I hate you so this world, I have to. You're being a coward right now. Why? I'm made of David Sterns. I made it very clear. No, because you just said a couple of things. You said when he came out and he took that curtain call, you felt personally as a met fan like you had it rubbed in your face. You also said that you had a major issue with him making that dive and play after being told that he couldn't make all these plays. I was a man of Pete for making a dive. I was met in general and people would pull me out there. Think about what you're saying though. What you're saying is you had a problem of met fans and you're afraid to say it because most of those met fans in the building wanted Pete Alonso to take the curtain call.

44:34I have no problem with met fans. Let me fit it. Yes, they did. No, I'm saying I don't have a problem with met fans. You do, but you're being a coward and saying you are because what you're saying is a problem of met fans. I said, you know, Alonso didn't rub it in the face of met fans last night. He gave them what they wanted. He gave them what those fans in the building, even if it wasn't every single one of them wanted. And some of those met fans are the same ones that kept calling out his defense, which kept telling you that he played bad defense. So just say it. You had an issue, even if it's not all with a bulk of the met fan base last night. I had an issue. No, I had an issue with people who told me Pete Alonso was crap defensively and one of them gone. Absolutely. And I've made that point clear. I do not have an issue with people cheering Pete Alonso. I never did. I don't. I don't have a problem with that game tying home run in the night. Dining who met fans. Yes, the season's over. The season's over. You don't care about. You don't care about the game. I cared about the game. I'm not lecturing met fans that they need to. Okay. I'm the issue. My issue is Pete Alonso didn't have to come out of the dugout. Okay. So you guys can be saying that I'm going to tell you right now. If the jets are one and four and we take more than one tank and call, I don't want to hear

45:37you telling these fans, they shouldn't feel that way or telling them they're wrong and you just want wins. If you're going to say that game was meaningless, then how many football games if you sat there and hammered the table for lecturing others that they're wrong for rooting for losses. I don't understand the correlation. I got a fight with you. I'm just going to make my do not understand. Pointing is meaningless games and when it's okay to cheer against the team before your team. I don't have an issue with met fans. I'll be the first one to tell you. I didn't love what Pete did yesterday. I just thought it was unnecessary. And I know he's loving every second of this. He's saying all the right things. He's saying everything correctly. But I felt like dude, you're already stuck it up. You got to come out and you don't need to. Like you kept saying the fans demanded it. They didn't, they were cheering him. He didn't have to come out of the dugout. And I think it made it worse and made him more embarrassing. Who's unnecessary? I don't think it was that. It wasn't embarrassing. Why was it embarrassing? Because I think that anytime a curtain call occurs on the road, it's odd. Right. You know, and I mentioned that it happened with Piotse. I mentioned the Yankee fans tried to get it from Tino back in 04 or 03.

46:37I think it was 03. It's just an embarrassing odd thing. And it wasn't needed. Like I love Pete. I think we're going through this honey moon of he can do no wrong. I just didn't think like dude, just, just, you hit a game tying home run, celebrate with your teammates, stay in the dugout. And no met fan was going to leave the building last night saying, you know what? Boy, I was really disappointed that that prima donna Pete Alonzo didn't come out for a curtain call. No one was going to say that. But I tell you, no thing met fans have pissed that. They're pissed that some of them at players for some of the things they're saying after this game. The other two teams that got off to miserable starts that have resources, the Phillies and the Red Sox fire their managers. They're going to the playoffs. It took the Mets another month and a half to fire theirs. They're obviously still going to be in last place. Pete Karl Armstrong is going to win the MVP in the National League. It's just on and on and on. We bring it up. It's got to be last night, cherry on top. Most embarrassing season in New York, Met history. It wasn't the morning. Good morning, Jim. I'm doing great. And the thing about it was last night, it wasn't like an old by the way, home run, where the Orioles won nine to one. It was a game tying home run in the night, then off of Kodai, Senga of all people. Of all people. And Kodai has been fine, but this thing was a bomb last night and the reaction from the fans is Shamanai has said he goes, I've never seen anything like it. I've never seen it. And I know it's Pete. I know he's beloved. I know he was a Met. He said all the right things about Pete, he has nothing against Pete.

51:44And he tried to kind of talk about what it felt like to be in the home dugout and listening to the home fans, serenading an opposing player. And right after all of that, what did you hear? Fire's turns. Yeah, sure. I mean, this couldn't have gone any worse. I don't know. He could have hit the home run yesterday in front of 35,000 fans. He did it last night in front of 28,000 fans. Tonight, I'm sure there's going to be another 30,000 fans. I don't know. Tonight or today, whatever it is. But the point is, is that no matter when he hit the home run in this stadium, the fans, at all of us, I think, probably we're going to feel as if, okay, we're happy for Pete, but we really want to make a statement to ownership about what a disaster this season has turned out to be and what a miss. This particular player was to let him walk out of the door. Yeah. This is a big F you to Steve Cohen, it's a big F you to David Stern's probably more so David Stern's would Steve Cohen at 100% in the mix with it as well from the fans

52:48higher. But it is, I can't, I don't know if David Stern's was around. He hasn't been on camera. If I were him, I would have gone and scouted somebody in Japan this week. I would have gotten his far away from Queens as humanly possible. Did not have to deal with this. I mean, it is watching and listening. I mean, how he rose and Gary Cohen and their calls and the way that the Iran darling reacted in the booth as well. I mean, it was as surreal as humanly possible. But anyway, that would be, that would be funny as he just hooks that bat with every single ounce of frustration that he probably had not getting the contract that he wanted from the Metz and sticking it up their ass in real time. Well, you know, again, you have to remember, he turned down a long term contract off for

53:53a couple of years back and he thought he was worth more money and he bet on himself. I think that internally probably rubbed David Stern's the wrong way. We talked about defensive metrics and all this other crap. I mean, our eyes don't lie to us. I mean, our eyes, like here's a guy who's played over a thousand games for your franchise. I think he's number eight or nine on the overall list. Here's a guy who leads your franchise in a home runs. Here's a guy who plays every single game. Here's a guy who's been beloved and whatever the disconnect was between Peter Lonzo and his agent with two sets of GM's, by the way. Yeah. So it's my numbing to me that, again, one of our teams has to live through this. Now we often usually say around here, why can't it happen for one of our teams around here to just go on this magical one? No, we did. Yeah. Well, we did. We got that with the Knicks. Yeah. And we may get that with the Yankees. We got that with the Giants twice.

54:53You know, I got to put the Rangers back in 94. I mean, like, where is the run? Where is like the exciting run for the Metsum? Maybe 2015 was it? Maybe last year was it to a certain extent? I mean, it weren't going to be the Dodgers anyway. I mean, 24 was was special. That was that was a really, really cool year, but it was going to be the Dodgers. But right, but it was still a, I mean, it was a magical run. Well, the second half of the season, it was. Yeah, it was. There's no question about it. But a magical run, I mean, that goes all the way. Yeah, I know. I know. I know that's what I'm talking about. The next did that's an all the way magical run. Now there were expectations with them. And by the way, this team here had expectations. You don't spend $390 million. And don't have expectations. Oh, yes. Yeah, and it's funny. I was looking back at that 92 team. So they led the league in payroll in 1992. What do you think the payroll, the highest payroll in baseball was in 1992? I'm going to say like 52 million. 45 million was the entire team's payroll back in 92.

55:55That's what Boba Schatz making. Yeah, and that's right. I mean, and you know, and one soda is making $15 million more than that for a season. So yeah, it's a, it's a different world when it comes to money. But as far as relative to expectations, I mean, it just has to be the worst year. And the other thing too is, by the way, 1992, you're only six years away from winning a world series. You're now 40 years away from winning a world series, which makes you more embarrassing. You're only other team that has spent more money than the Mets have been the Dodgers. And the Dodgers at least have won. The Mets are the biggest financial disgrace in the history of any major sport when you think about the amount of money that they have spent for the return that they have gotten. But it is, it is by far the financially the worst team in the history of the four major sports in this country. When you think about how they spend more money than a football team for half the players.

56:58Yeah. And we thought last year, because it was was the biggest financial disaster we had seen in New York sports and maybe the history of sports this year. They did one better because this team's even worse than it was last year. And then when you combine the two, yeah. And then you combine how much money has been spent. Now bad they've been. I was about 700 million for two years. Yeah. Maybe even more than that. When you think about when you think all of all in, you know, players, salaries and you think of the managerial stuff firing the coaches, bringing new coaches in. You know, all the benefits that you have to pay into when you're in honor for the players. I would think it's probably close to 800, maybe 900 million over the last two years. Maybe not 900, but maybe 800 million over the last two years. We all thought that seasons like this and moments like this would be few and far between or even end when Steve Cohen bought the team and became the principal owner of the team with Alex Cohen. It was like, okay, well, all this garbage we had gone through is not going to happen

57:58anymore. We don't have to hear about the Bernie made off stuff anymore. We don't have to worry about some of the will pond coupons stuff that had been out there for so many years. The players that you want to keep will keep will go get the big free agents will be able to invest in the Dominican and all of these things go get the best general managers and VP of baseball operations and still somehow here we are the met's at all these years. Another reason why this is the most embarrassing season in the history of the franchise. So how many times have we sat here this time of year, the met's being completely out of it and they're irrelevant. We don't talk about it. I mean, last year this time they were still barely hanging on but there have been many seasons where they're completely out of it in September and they're not even talked about. But they're the main topic today because the guy that they let go, the homegrown guy comes back to standing ovation and curtain calls and hits his 300th home run in city field and the met fan is cheering for him over the team.

59:01That's why they're screaming about firing, you know, the, the baseball operations. So you they became relevant in September because they're that embarrassing. I it's it really I think that because baseball so long and our attention spans are so short these days, sometimes we forget in the moment the enormity of the ineptitude like we've gotten used to it already because they've been out of the mix since end of April may they've been dead. The season's been dead. They've been out of it. But when you really step back and look at it about how bad this has been and how embarrassing it is, but you can't tell me there's another franchise out. I'd rather be any other franchise in baseball this season, even the worst of the worst. There'd be the Colorado Rockies than the New York Met. Well, they're not spending the amount of money. Well, that's the thing. That's why it's all the things that add up one after another after another that makes this season just. I mean, Bob Klappett wrote that worst team money could buy. He's got to be he has got to be gearing up for a sequel.

Sean Monaya, who this season started as a reliever because his velocity was down became a starter, look promising for a while and then pretty much sucked. Once we would get to the fifth or sixth inning, pitch the decent game yesterday. Though Andy Green had to put the diaper on and take him out very, very early, just in Casey, you know what at the bed like he normally does in the sixth inning. So Sean Monaya ended up pitching five and a third of things before he came out. And Sean Monaya had an opinion on the reactions Pete was getting and I will be fair to give you the context that Monaya spent the good 60 seconds talking about how great he is and how he was a wonderful met and he's a great guy and he deserves all the love he's getting.

1:01:08But then Sean Monaya said this, you got to turn the pot up Sean. Hold on, let's start it over again. The guys in here work their ass off every single day and to have that kind of reaction to an opposing player, you know, it could be anybody. It's crazy to me. You know, I've, again, I've got nothing but respect for Pete, but yeah, I've just never seen anything like that before. And yeah, I know the guys in here, we are grinding our butts off and stuff like that happens, but yeah, I've never seen anything like that before. It's kind of crazy. Kind of crazy. Sean, I mean, I love you, dude. I love what you're trying to say, but you lack complete and utter perspective of the fan base that roots for you on a daily basis. That is, that is, that's ass of nine for him to say it like that.

1:02:08He knows what Pete Alonzo meant to this fan base. He knows that Peter Lanzo wanted to be a met. He knows that every fan who has ever rooted for the met wanted Pete Alonzo to be a forever met. And so for him, the lump, Pete Alonzo into just an opposing player is just, it's, it's, it's tone deaf. Like it discounts what Pete means still means, even though he plays for the URRs now to this met fan base. That's just blindly making it black and white and it is not black and white. And you know damn well, Sean, man, it is not black and white. So stop trying to put it into this box. It doesn't fit in. Well, said, sir, I don't need to add anything, but you know what I will add? Another opinion from a met player. And this one was spot on. It's the opposite of Sean, man, right. And I'm going to let you guess. I know who it was. You know who was? Yeah. You got the home run. Yeah, damn right. It was Kodai Senga through his translator.

1:03:10Perhaps if it was another hitter, if it wasn't Pete Alonzo, there are other great hitters that have played for the met's end that are playing elsewhere. But because it was him, it didn't bother me again. It just shows how much he was loved. It just shows how great of a hitter he is and how much he meant to this organization. Thank you, Kodai. Yes. I appreciate it, bro. I appreciate that as the guy who was on the mound who gave up the home run, his first blown safe. I appreciate and respect that you get it. So it's interesting to me that Kodai Senga through an interpreter gets it and Sean Manaya who's been here for a little bit less time, but two and a half years does not get it. Right. No, you think he grooved it? Did I think? I know. I don't think he grooved it. I'd be pissed if he did. I'll tell you it right now. You want to tell me it's the first inning? Fine. I'm going to hit you, books with Peter Lanzo. Who gave up his three hundred? Well, you know, it's funny. I got to play this one more thing about Kodai Senga.

1:04:10So obviously, Kodai and Peter Lanzo are very much linked because Senga's career, right? You could argue was ruined by a bad defense or play by Peter Lanzo. It's where there's all turn for the match. Think about it. They're in the NLCS. They get off to a very good start in 2025. All is right with the world. The match are on their way to just being a perennial playoff team. And then Peter Lanzo makes a bad throw to first base with Kodai Senga covering. He rips up his hamstring. Kodai has never been the same and the Metz have never been the same. So listen to this little quip from Gary Cone on the broadcast last night after Peter Lanzo made another successful throw to first base. Throw to the pitcher. It played him so much the last couple of years. Yips are gone. Too late for Senga. Yeah. Wow. Late for Senga. That's cold blooded, man. That was cold blooded. I mean, it's true. And of course it is. But damn you have to say it. Gary was feeling his oats last night.

1:05:18He had no problem mentioning that, but you know what Gary Cone never mentioned that there were loud fire, stanch chance. I thought that was interesting. That's one I never mentioned it again. Yes. I didn't call it was a very loud fire, stanch chance. And how he on the radio mentioned it, but TV mums to the word. They don't want to say anything. Let's get to your calls 888808109. So here's what I'll give you. I the curtain call after the first home run. You're right. But he got cheered when he hit the second home run where the booze and grind started to come is in his third bid for a home run of Aaron Hyalman. That's when the crowd was like, all right. I know we've had enough, but he got cheered on the second one.

1:06:21Two man. I'm telling you. Okay. Fine. You got a curtain call. You know, you got a curtain call. You got a curtain call on the road. Okay. Fine. But anyway, but Pete's curtain call and I agree with you that he was a little bit excessive. He came and shoved it. What are you shoving at the stern? Do you not shoving at the fans? You just like, Moniet didn't get it. The players are cheering and hating on stern. Not the match players. Yeah. You mean the fans are. Exactly your point. Yeah. They said fire's stern immediately after the curtain call to show the connection. We love Pete. We miss Pete and we hate Sterns for not bringing back. And I agree with that. I agree with that. But I still felt after the game tying home run, it was unnecessary for him to come out. And I don't know if in Pete's mind he's thinking, F David starts. I don't know what he's thinking. He may just be thinking, Tiki, they're showing me a lot of love. I'm going to go out there. Yes. I think that's more of what it was. It says, I hear cheering. I don't, I'm not hearing booing. I'm not hearing groaning. I'm hearing cheering. I love that I hit my 300th home run at city field.

1:07:25And so I'm going to go out and say, thank you for acknowledging. That's all it was. I think Pete's not complicated, man. We talked to him. We know he's not complicated. He's very simple. And he acknowledged what the Metfan was cheering for. He was also very aggressive at giving a curtain call. Some people wait. Some people really make you earn that curtain call. He could not wait to get out of that dugout. And I love Pete. This idea that the Oriole team H are the ones that force them. Okay. Whatever. I put it this way. I don't fully believe that. I don't believe that story. I don't believe the idea that Shane Boza sit in there after his starts in. Get out here, Pete. Get out of there. Pete wanted to get out there. He loves this. Victor and Sacramento. What's up, Victor? I loved everything about the only thing I'm upset with Pete is. I was there Monday night and I would look at it. But I'm better. I'm petty. You know, what's embarrassing? Stern trying to replace him with players that never played first based on the regular basis. You know what's crazy, Maniah? The fact that you were an A-Fight pitcher in 2024 and had been nothing but since the

1:08:27new contract. You know what's crazy? This lendor being on the pedestal. I'm doubling down on what you said yesterday. I've been taking it. Sean, I love you guys. Let's go blue. It was in the game. But anyway, this is an attack. You know what's crazy? The fact another year of him regressing the offensively. You know what's crazy? Him batting to 30. I don't want to hear about the injuries. I don't want to hear about the slow start. He's getting paid 34 million. And you know what? He smiles so much. I call him the front. In fairness, in fairness, what I said yesterday about lendor was a warning like, hey, it's not a good idea as he knew from his first year to be questioning the fans motives. But he also was really pushing cheering for Jonah Tom. Sean, Maniah just gave us the, that's crazy. Yeah. Lendor's comments are actually to me. Yeah. Much more acceptable than what Maniah said. Yeah. He's supporting his young teammate. He's trying to be a leader to the young guy's guys that are coming up. I get that 100%.

1:09:28Sean Maniah was just wrong. Well, that wrong. And when he uses the word crazy, I love it. Our last caller did playing the game of, you know what's crazy? You know what's crazy? I'll throw another one in there. You know what's crazy? The meds gave Sean Maniah three or 75 million. Did they make that offer to Pete Alonzo this off season? And the answer is no, because they didn't make one. Yeah. But, but wait, I'm going to be reminded about the offer they made in 2023. As if that's anywhere relevant to what happened this past off season. Did he opt out or did he have a deal? He opted out. What do you mean he opted out? Wait, what's the question? Yeah, he had an opt out. Yeah, okay. So he opted out of his deal with the meds, right? Yes. Of course he opted out of it. So I don't want to hear that didn't have a deal on the table. They had a deal. He opted out of it. Stop. Come on. Sean Maniah saw him opt out of a deal. Yeah, but it's the semantics of it. You know that that was a one year contract. Okay. He didn't have to. But it was business. You always were going. I understand his business. Did he have to? I think from a business standpoint, the players associate you would have called him up and said, yes, you have to. Like, I get better.

1:10:29You know, semantics are he had a deal. He opted out of it. But the semantics of opting out, because I've heard some med fans say this that they're mad that he opted out immediately, that he didn't wait a few hours or a few days to announce his opt out. Who cares? One soda sat there after game five of the World Series and immediately said, I'll sign with any team in baseball. Garrett Cole before he came to you guys sat there after game seven of the World Series with a Boris Corpat. Yeah. Dude, this is a business. I'm not going to be offended by what Garrett Cole did or one soda did or Peter Lanzard did or the saint that Jacob DeGrom did when he announced his opt out a year in advance. Yes. Not you're not wrong. I'm just saying an opt out is still an opt out. You can choose not to opt out. Yeah. But you know that's not. I know it's not going to happen. But then you can't scream and yell. He got low. He got low balled on his offer. He held his deal that he signed. He had to opt out. He had to. That's why. I believe there's still a chance you're being self-right. You're being self-right. Well, is that you owe it to yourself to opt out? Of course. No situation. Now, you said there's a chance David Sterns will be right. There's still a chance.

1:11:30Yes. But I want to play this game the correct way because it's a five year deal and that's one of the big arguments. Well, let's see what he is in year two, three, four, five. Absolutely. Here's what I know in year one, considering what Pete's done and what the replacements have done, there's a big hole for David to get out of. Oh, no doubt. So for no doubt. So for this decision to have worked out, there's a lot of ground to be made up. It can't just be well. Pete sucked in year five. See, David was right. No, it doesn't work that way. I don't disagree. I'm just saying, the story is not finished. Nick is in Bethel, Connecticut. What's up, Nick? Evan, Evan, Evan, thank you for taking the call. You know, like, a lot of respect for you. You work very hard at your job. You do research. Blah, blah, blah, blah. You can not be more wrong about this. Pete Alonzo thing. He did with the crowd asking to do the search for a current call. If you listen to the play by play by how he rose, he said the same thing. If he doesn't come out of the dugout, it's called a snub. It pisses the fans off. I mean, have you ever been to a concert when the fans cheer for the band to come out

1:12:30again and they come, I mean, get a clue, bud. Wake up. You're so freaking wrong about this. It's pissing me off. He didn't win the game. He tied the game. He tied the game. You mean to Nick, I didn't mean to piss you off, but I disagree. He doesn't have to come out. And if the questions are asked after the game, why didn't you come out? He could have said it's their ballpark. I don't do curtain calls on the road, but I appreciate the love. It wouldn't be a scandal today if Pete didn't come out. And let's call like it is about Pete Alonzo. Scandal? Yeah. Wouldn't be a scandal. Is it a scandal? I'm saying it wouldn't be a scandal. Would not be a scandal. Is it a scandal that he did come out? No, but he even talking about. I'm saying he didn't have to come out. If Pete was clever and he was asked, why did you come out for the curtain call? He should just say, because I talked to Steve Cohen yesterday and he said, this will always be my home. By the way, if he said that, completely different to pick up. Then I'd say he's a baller, but admit this about Pete. And I love the guy. Say this with love. He's one of those players that will tip his hat like two seconds before he should tip

1:13:35his hat. Do you know what I mean by that? Yes. He's expecting it. Yes, he is like he loves the adulation. And everybody's different. So it's not surprising that he's quick to like, let me get out there and do the curtain call. Let me be quick to tip my hat. He didn't have to. And as much as that pisses Nick off, I'm sorry. I'm also telling you how I felt in the moment. He's rounding the bases after he throws that about a million miles per hour and great job by Geo with the AI of having the bad hit David Sterns in the face, which if you haven't seen check out his Twitter account, hilarious. Like he didn't have to then come out and when he did, I was annoyed. I'm being honest with you. It was like, all right. I can tell you are doing now you're rubbing it in clearly. Everybody watched your last night. Every Matt fan was in and paying attention, including our buddy Kevin Clancy KFC bar stool noted met's fan and he did one of his one minute men, one minute man, one minute man, on this earlier, you could check that out on his Instagram and TikTok accounts KFC bar stool.

1:14:38Kevin, good morning. What's happening? How are we doing, boys? Doing all right. It's definitely, it's getting to the point now where we've talked about Pete so much that it feels like this is the apex. This is the end of it. This is the thing that we're going to look finally put it to rest after today. But it's just absolutely remarkable how this whole thing worked out. I know you feel the same way. The stars and the moons aligning on this one, it might be the most LOL met coincidence of all time. You had, if you're Steve Cohen and you're watching, you're looking at the schedule and you're watching Pete get to $2.99 as he comes back to home, you got to be like, what the hell man? What are the chances of this? But you just said something a second ago that is, I get subjectively true, but I think it's half true. You said, the players are never going to understand the fans and the fans are never going to understand the players. As a fan, I get the players. I totally understand that's players being like, you guys are rooting for the opposing team. That's not what you're supposed to do. What I can't understand is why don't the players understand how the fans feel.

1:15:39And I understand they maybe can't be that honest in their post game. But I'm here for 40 years. You're here for a cup of coffee, Sean Meniah. Well, you feel $75 million with your five ERA. I get you want us through for you. It's not about you right now. This is about us and 40 years of frustration and worrying about the next 40 years because it always feels like no matter who comes in here, we make the wrong decisions and we shoot ourselves in the foot. Why can't you understand that? Well, you just answered, I think you just answered your question because he hasn't gone through it for 40 years. He hasn't gone through it for 60 years like some of the older fans like he doesn't know that. Shut up. Yeah. Well, just say, listen, he's a great guy. We're happy for him. I can never understand the fan situation. I understand you're frustrated, but we just want to put out a good product on the field for you to cheer for. Give me the canned response because this, I get where you're coming from, but you refuse to understand where I'm coming from. Makes me feel like, well, now I really don't care anymore about this current team.

1:16:40You failed. You're picking a fight with us basically. Let us do this because it's not about you. It's about us management. You know, by the way, Kevin Boomer here, before this series started. I've been criticized. I've heard you Boomer. Right. Thank you. So right before this series started, a lot of players were asked about what do you expect from the fans in regards to Peter Lanzo coming back to city field and all the players said exactly what the Metfan did. They expected a huge ovation. They expected hit, you know, beautiful video tribute for him and all the players basically said that. So nobody's surprised by all of this that I think we're making more out of this show. I'm not anything than anything else that I pulled the athlete card on to you before. And I said, you know, if I were sitting in the Met dug out and I was a Met player, I'd be a little bit miffed that he got a curtain hall. You know, that's the thing. But listen, as a Narp, I understand where you're coming from, but as a Narp who sits here on my couch watching this madness like Sean and I, we just watched this guy who we have

1:17:41of us wanted to come back so badly hit 300, throw the bat. He got Metfans hugging him and then you guys clapped there and give up a game losing inside the park home run. Hey, Sean, Manaya, we're not cheering about anything ever again. Yeah, I mean, I think when I think the fan took it personally when he said it's crazy. Like he didn't say like the fans are crazy. He also could have been thinking too. The whole situation is crazy. Like I can't believe there's a fan base. No, honestly, but think about it. I really try to say that. Hold on. He could be. I don't think so because I think that he could be said, I've never seen a situation where a fan base hates a general manager so much that they would cheer for this player in the way that they did that. That's kind of where I thought he was going with it. Not so much that the fans are crazy. Just like this situation is really unlike any other. Think about this. I mean, you had a fan base hate their general manager so much that they were actively rooting for this season to be more embarrassing than it already was.

1:18:42It's different. It is kind of crazy. But no, I mean, yes, if you're on the outside looking in, you don't know anything about the mess in their history. Yes. If you know a shred about what's going on, it totally makes sense because we've done this 80,000 times. And at some point as a fan base, you almost have to protest. It's almost like a mini revolution that like we are not going to just keep shelling out money and keep talking positively and you've got to believe because at some point this is absolute madness. And actually at some point you just go, this is black magic. They are just cursed. And there's nothing that can be done because how does this all line up? The fact that Lindor had $2.99 and couldn't get it done. It's just like at some point you have something you've got to give. And if the players on the current team, their feelings are hard to find. If you're saying true geo, that would be great. But between when door kind of hinting at it and then midnight coming on, saying, I think those guys are in the locker room being like, I can't stand these fans. And I don't understand what they don't get. Dare I say Frank was right.

1:19:44Frank is never wrong. He's just early. Yeah, I mean, I was going through it a year, a few years younger than me, but I was going back and looking at that 92 season, the worst team money could buy. I think that all things considered with the Milwaukee Brewers, David Stern's team having the best record in baseball, the fact that Pete Crowe Armstrong is going to win the MVP in the National League. All of these things that this has to be relative to expectation, the most embarrassing season in Met's history, not recency bias, like really going through and thinking about it. I mean, it has to be truly with the expectations and some of the names. And I really thought like last year could not get any worse. That was the fluke of all flukes. And then we just did it again and we made it worse. And Pete goes out there and does what Pete does because he's a fat, durable slugger who just hits home runs. And somehow David Stern convinced the world that his glove matters more than that. And then replace them with a non-first base.

1:20:45When you get hurt all the time, we'll talk about run prevention. It's madness. It's insanity. And it's never ever going to stop. And I just can't believe that there are people out there who don't understand it. And you know, I'm almost happy in a way because there was a little, a little like blip on the radar there where Carson Ben just becoming a superstar and O'Sedney's talking about rookie of the year votes and Ewing's great. And people are like, oh, you know, this isn't a lost season. No, this is absolutely a lost season. We came into the year with World Series aspirations. And now we're happy that one player's getting rookie of the year votes. Well, Pete, Alonzo's set records and milestones and I don't know if I can do it. I was ridiculous. And on top of all of that, $800 million has been spent over the last two years. And at some point, like, I'm not a stern's apologist in any way. I hate the guy. I do believe you should get fired. But at some point, it's like when every single move you make just doesn't work because

1:21:46when you put on a met's uniform, you get back to your powers. You know, what are you supposed to do? And last, I'm still waiting for Cohen to one day just have like a Dodgers off season where he's like, I'm going to spend all of my own money because something's got to change here. And if we just let's turn tinker and toy and try to money ball, this like we're just going to be the same boat literally. Why just got to remember Steve Cohen does an own insurance companies, I don't think. Yeah, right. That's the other thing. It's like, well, I'm going to dodge it. Well, they are cheating.
