I'm doing great. I love it. I love it. Fantastic. I love it. I was a little nervous though. I got in the... It's cold today, by the way. That was not cold. It's nice. Oh, no, it's still a bit chilly. This is nice weather to really explore the closet. Dress. Fine stuff, he didn't know. He even in the closet. Yeah, sweatshirt. But you never certainly like to wear a jacket because if you have a jacket on and then you leave the studios in the 10 o'clock hour now, it's warmer out. You carry it. Yeah, I guess. Plus, we have an AC that works now, which is nice. Yeah. Touch and go though. I got in 4.75 and it's closed. So the whole highway? The whole highway. Not the whole highway, but to the certain exit. I was like, oh, what do I do here? Well, my math was telling me, go this way. I trusted it. Worked out. That's nice. Yeah, that's real nice. Yeah, worked out. We got a lot going on. I mean, the Yankees disaster continues to be a big topic. We got buster only today and I'm interested to see what he has to say about the Yankees. We got Tim Haselbeck at 8.30 this morning. We got Stump Rothenberg. We got a lot going on today. Oh, it's a good day.

It's a real good day. It's our first sports Rangers one. This is fine. Whatever. Sorry. Yeah. Ready to look good last night. Nothing I can do. Raymond's in a good mood, which is guy. Guess it's good for the show. It's great for the show. It's great for the show. I enjoyed that game. Buffalo wins. I mean, you guys just keep having your fun. You guys just. Our days live in a good life, but he's got the Yankees. So that's not exactly a great thing at the moment. I know. The Sabers tank helps. Come on. Yeah. He's got the Sabers. We got a fancy new haircut. He looks great. Yeah. Your team's three and one. Galboys win. Are there any just four and one? So the, the, the giants always said, the ringer of giants and giants with three and one. Giant three and one. Rangers four and one. Yeah. They all have one loss. Yeah. They think something's happening. Some believe. That shape was really good. Some believe. He's really. And then I got to watch my team play the Bears. This is what I got to deal with. And then my not only play the Bears. I had this conversation yesterday with somebody. We turned around and go, what would just focus on being one and no? That was the giant thing. Yeah. It is the giant thing. I don't know. I don't know what more there is to say about Arringland.

That's like, come on. I'm like, you know, we're just gonna all gas no breaks. Like, can we come up with something? I'm a regional police. I know. He's 417. John Harbott is focused on being one and all. Yeah. He can now turn around and take your, your slogan. Take your slogan. I mean, I don't know a lot of. I don't know a lot of it. I think that Arringland and the Jets have to be honest with you. I have almost none. We'll get into how important this Cleveland game is. You can't afford to lose this game. Or maybe if you want him out, maybe you're doing to lose this game. I don't know what the right thing is. I don't trust that though. You don't trust it. There's any chance that he's going to be gone. I don't know, man. I don't know. I mean, you're also talking about a knowner who said no to Wink Martin deal being the defensive coordinator. I mean, you got, it's time to five here deal, right? You got three years left after this season. Three years left after this season. Yeah, right. You're a path to this season. I mean, do I want no? That's not what I want. But no, sometimes you know, you have to cut bait with something that's not effective. Maybe. We'll see. So we got a lot going on. I guess we've launched into the Yankees again.

I just can't believe that in that moment in that game, the Yankees gave you that performance. I just, I know that we have had some time to kind of think about it and dissect it and really, you know, listen to other people's opinions. I just can't believe it. I can't believe when the stakes were that high that this Yankees team laid such an egg in game two in Tampa Bay. I was thinking about this a lot yesterday because I've been, I've been one of the people that when we take phone call after phone call after phone call about, you know, Aaron Boone stinks and all these different things. I feel like I'm usually the one on the show that defends Aaron Boone, right? Like, I mean, I would like a manager like that that has played, has been through this, understands, you know, the weight of being in New York Yankee and what that means in the amount of pressure. Like you've got guys like sunny gray and I mean, it's a long list of players that have established themselves as really good major league baseball players that can't handle the pressure. I mean, hell, Freddie Peralta talked about that. Yeah, but you know, being the, the ace of the Met staff was too much from the handle.

He goes down to Tampa. I mean, they fix some things. He's throwing more changeups and all of a sudden he's the best picture in the American league in September, right? Like so I understand that. So to have a manager that protects you and it's not going to call you all because if also where it takes like from former athletes to that do this job that are like, that's the only way to hold someone accountable is to rip them on the main, rip them to the media. It's no, that's not the big. If you see John Harbor ripping people to the media, it seems like he's doing a pretty good job of changing the culture, holding guys accountable. Like that's not what you, that's not the way you need to do it. There's not one way to do this. But in saying all that, I thought about this last night, maybe it was the back medication that I was on that allowed me to really like, you're taking a muscle relaxer? No, this is a, it's some kind of nerve thing to eliminate some of the nerve pain. Uh-huh. Slept like a really? Yeah, like a corpse. Yeah, unbelievable. You need surgery. The doctor was like, I don't know if you should drive in the morning. I was like, can it last that long? He's like, it probably what time did you take it? Took it last night. I don't know. I still feel great.

So anyway, a little neuroten is that what it was? I don't know, it's a good G. Check it out, something with a G. Okay. Yeah, um, I think it's time for Aaron Boone. I think they need to take a change. Yeah, but Pettin. Yes, yeah, but that's neuroten. Same thing. Okay, I think they need to make a change. All of a sudden you went from yesterday to if any Aaron Boone, you know why? You know why? I'll tell you why. At manager? Yeah, I'll tell you why. It's not, it's not necessarily the mistakes that are being made, because, think it's not Aaron Boone's fault, that Ryan McMahon boots that ball. Ryan McMahon was like, is here for his defense. You put him in the lineup because we're going to make sure that we have the best defensive, you know, defensive infield that we could have. Right. Should have Anthony Bolbego. McMahon makes that play whatever you want. Nine out of 100. I think that's fair to say. But it's the response from the players after they make the mistakes. Now it's not McMahon, but what Austin well said. What Jess Chisholm said. So you think his message is being lost now on this team?

I have to imagine that that is something that we talk about. And then to turn around and now have your player go, I would do it again. I would make that through really. So I think at what point does the behavior get corrected? Where this is no, this is unacceptable. Or is jazz just not correctable? It's not even the jazz one that bothered me as much as the well. Oh, it drove me crazy. Like Wells bothers me also. It's like, what do you mean you do it again? Well, the worst thing about Wells is Wells is not going anywhere. Wells is going to be starting to catch you next year. At least jazz you kick to the curb and you say, you don't see it. You have to deal with him anymore. The other thing to when I said this to RJ this morning and RJ is just, I mean, he's the best. Even though he's I haven't really spent time with RJ yet. This morning, how is he still a dead? Is he back a little bit like where are we at with RJ? He was close. He realized that he error and judgment to get like wrapped up in your trap because he fell for a hookline and sinker and it almost pushed him over the edge. He yelled at me yesterday. He had a relapse. Yeah, he almost got me. He almost got me. I mean, he attacked me. I'm an adult answering his question. And he interrupts to me to answer the question. So the raiders of the Mary, I'm not saying it's super easy about the giants in the rounds.

But I don't think that but you know, come on. What? Oh, no, I want to hear this. Oh, come on. What he is. Oh, come on. Jordan is sitting. You're telling us he thinks the giant that you barely beat the Titans. No, I want to hear that. That's good. I'm trying. But you can. And the middle of answer the question. You can hear the interrupting me. You can hear the tone of RJ's voice that he was getting himself worked up. Would you say world class button for sure? Oh, work like the best. So there's no one better. So I was wrong yesterday for that. I'm sorry. However, I went back and I sometimes I go back on my ride home. I just want to see how things sounded. And I actually was looking for something else. And I just threw out an hour one and it started. The very, how did you start the show yesterday? I don't know. Oh, I think I made fun of you when the Yankees. And you threw in some weather. Yeah. You from the job the game plan was. All right, here we go. Like we didn't know in the moment that it's like we're going to single out this guy on a D for throwing a go at him all game. I didn't know in the moment, but that was your game plan. It wasn't my game plan. I knew. I was second to show up. It wasn't my game plan. It was. No, it was it was not that you know, listen, do I take his fans and RJ and

the joint enjoyment in the Yankees, soiling themselves in a massive moment? I love it. As you said, I love it. As you should. As you should. But you started from the moment. I think I was bad yesterday. No, you weren't outwardly bad. But you've been worse. I was I was not my I was decent to the Yankees fan. You were. You were. But the way the show started, you're like, oh, by the way, it got to weather. You that told me I was like, how did I miss this? I missed all the signs. You from the moment, you're like, no, we're going to single out 22 on on defense. We're going to throw the ball in him every single play. That was you, but I didn't know it in the moment, but good good on you. However, you know what? You brought some good points. You're right. You found the fish yesterday. It's funny. Bring that up because I I'm not fully ready to jump in that boat. But this is the closest I've ever been. I got news for you guys. What the boom. Yeah, I got news for you guys. Too bad. Yeah, I don't you say that though, but you say that he's getting to that. No, no, like he's getting to that time though. Like he's getting to like the where he's been here long enough,

where it's like, okay, we have to start considering. I was reading something yesterday. Cashman loves it. Of course he loves it. How loves it. Great. Good luck. They're not going to move on from him. I'm still in the same position at microcazing. Okay, they move on from him. They're just going to bring in another guy who does. They bring another air. No, I understand that. But I mean, air and points already established like this is what the culture of this team is. Right. And I think that they they like him. But is that necessarily the best avenue for this team right now? You need someone that needs to acutely love you can be feared. You can be respected. I think he's probably I think you love by this team. I think he's probably that's a funny way of showing it. No, but I just I don't know at the end of the day. Like if if you have the right guy in charge, when you make the kind of mistakes that the Yankees make and jazz makes them a lot, or even when you know the lollipop on the on the on the infield, like that's that's a poor reflection of your manager. Like what your team does on the field of the ice is a reflection of of you.

But but and how I'm going guys and what's I know the only one guy. So the Wells isn't isolated incident. I think it's ridiculous. Okay, it's jazz jazz is a bit. But you we've said that all year. This is who jazz is. I'm saying that we keep but you keep allowing it though. So what a certain point is that at a certain point that erodes your ability to hold everyone else accountable. So now this is when like things that shouldn't be acceptable, like each coach has non-negotiable things like these are the things that are non-negotiable. That starts to go to the wayside if it's one or two players that continually make you that embarrass you. They're not. They're not. I just think we're at that point where it's like you need to like didn't need to be a change because this is again when you look at it and I had RJ looked this up. I said to him, I said it was last time Aaron Boone beat a team that they weren't they weren't better that better than like record wise. I think they could have if they lose a series that can be oh in seven. The last series that they were the last time they won a series it was a wild card series and it was during it was during COVID. They beat Cleveland.

That was the last time when what the other team had a better record. Cleveland was a forcey they were five seed. Yeah, but I mean it's not even a legitimate thing. It's 2020 you're also talking about I believe that series the wild card series was one game right. I think I know you're talking you're talking about no fans also in the wild card ground. So even if it's it's it's that's not sure they had the cardboard cutouts. That's true. Yeah. They had the fans in the in the later ones. I believe the CS they started having fans. But you're also talking about 18 playoff so that everything was long game 2020. But to the point that I don't have any grand illusion that Aaron Boone is like some great manager you can't move on from I just feel like the Yankees are kind of stuck in their ways that he's their guy. They don't hate him. But like the ownership and the you know the management really likes him and I think for that reason they'll probably bring him back again. We talk about all the time. Is this a successful season for the Yankees? Right? Like like fan base no but for the ownership group is this a successful season and you you will tell me all the time they look at this is you win 90 plus games.

You're in the playoffs you win around you you playing games into October they consider that a success well if you consider that a success you're going to move on from the guy that's bringing you there every single year again I don't know what they're going to do I don't even know how and why sometimes they rationalize or decide what they're going to do. If they move on I would think it would be fine. But I think there's every excuse I think there's every excuse to keep him when you look at the injuries and not having Aaron judge but I also I mean you went into this year running it back. And you ran it back and you you're in the same spot it looks like you can lose out in the same spot. To a team that wanted you know that won your division right. Right I mean and you had the excuse last year when I heard boom what's like you see every record is a blue jays well when we played the blue jays we kind of you know where we were at as a team didn't give us you know the best opportunity to win those games so now we lose the tiebreaker okay well the reality is is that they were the better team yes they had they won the division so they had a whole field and

you lost and now this year again where it's like I'm not saying that they punted on the division but it's like it wasn't it didn't seem like it was their priority because they had the injuries and everything else and now it looks like you're going to lose the Tampa and we're in the same spot so what are you doing and look in on top of it it looks like we're going to run it back again it looks like you're going to here's my problem with it. Well the Yankees ever the better team like last year Toronto was a better team they were definitively they were the better team this year Tampa's probably the better team and I know that you have the built-in excuse of no Aaron judge and maybe that makes a monumental difference but I just think that the Yankees aren't even the best team right now so you're going to punish Aaron Boone and then maybe you're at the point where someone needs to you know have egg on their face and someone needs to to take the repercussions of another for what fans deemed to be failed season maybe maybe it will be Aaron Boone I don't expect one or just saying like what changes could be made like well you keep you keep getting yourself into this I don't think I don't think I don't think there are many changes okay well I think at some point

something I'll have to change if you're not going to change the players and you're not going to change the general managers the guy picking the players and you continue to deal with the same what is why does Brian Cashman of eight just a a runway that goes on from miles and miles and miles he's no one putting the team together stand that yeah that I mean that's in probably help put the line up because he's because he's really well liked by by ownership all right yeah I mean it's a layer of protection that's how it works well you know what everyone should have such why they usually tell you once you're once you're the GM if you can find you way to become the president and then hire a GM so they had an extra layer right that's also nice everyone should have such job security like Brian Cashman there me I think you're there no I think you pretty much do whatever you want like you run this place kind of me no you have more job security now stop it you got a shiny new deal they love you you're golden golden I love you oh my oh you keep seeing the same you keep seeing the same things you see like hey what happens to this team in June right yeah I mean you get to the

postseason and I understand there's a lot of pressure you put in a lot of it's the Yankees and you have high expectations but still like you have to have your team ready for that like you can't afford to have you know this happened to you in I know wasn't any but still wasn't anything that happened in the World Series or what happened in game two that's like it's the most important portion of your season it's the most important game of your season and your team does that in the first time how differently do you think you Yankee fans would fit and I'm not let me use the Yankee but you would feel comma and Yankee fans would feel if the Yankees lost five four the other night and it was a great game and Tampa just came up with a timely I told you be like the same thing if it was a if the if the Jets lost the bears the way they lost the Lions right but that wasn't the case no it gave you flashbacks or what you saw last year you know you're not that that was worth that was worse than anything that the other the other night was that that has to be rock bottom I was in that was an embarrassment the other night the Jets the Jets were the Yankees yes yeah I think that's the bigger problem though it's like any time that you have certain things that you're like they concern you the most about your team and then those pop back up right

that you think you passed it it's like okay you know for me it wasn't necessarily as a Jets fan like we're gonna get to the playoffs we're gonna win the division it's like no I think let's see if the coach is is gonna be a good head coach and you had some positive things happen like a game you felt like the coach kind of cost you're maybe with the with the green bag game but then you can competitive against the Troy Gino looks great so deep looks great Wilson looks great so you're all excited hey okay we lost but still it's a good team it's in Detroit let's keep moving this thing forward and then that happens it's okay so we really haven't changed then and then you see the Yankees it's like okay we know we know what could hold us back from getting to a world series it's these things big moments big games batch shut down and then you know we can't it's the same thing like when you broke down the series that's what you said this team is going to put so much pressure on you are you comfortable in that spot executing the fundamentals of baseball can you catch it can you throw it can you run the bases the right way yeah I hope so and the answer is no so whose fault is that I mean start all the way up at the time but like I think that there is a certain there's a

certain standard set by your coach where there are things that you can do and the things that you can't do these are the things that I need you to do on a consistent basis and if you don't do these things you don't play these are non-negotiables and it feels like especially with these guys answer questions after they make the mistake yeah that that standard has nothing would drive me crazy I do it again what do you mean you do it again like I grabbed you you're not you know to that again I would the I mean you do it again it's maddening no but I did that's a lack of respect for your manager do you have the first place in maddening if that's the case and I've been here long enough like at a certain point I have to step back as the person that makes these like Brian cash remember's making this decision go you know what I know everyone likes him I like him but we need someone in we need like this group is ready to win so we need to bring someone in that's going to at the very least have the ability in the first couple years because that's usually when the players run their best behavior like oh the new manager that that could be the the little push that this team needs maybe

I just don't know I just they actually bothered me yesterday because I always think to myself when I'm coaching my teams and I'll have a coach come up to me afterwards and be like oh man your team works like how proud I am because it's like okay the stuff that we're doing is working like how my team play right and and executes is a reflection of how I coach yes and they go with act like idiots or they know that that's me like I'm allowing it to like I'm a coaching to do and stop coaching it or allowing it to happen so then like to respond the way that they respond would be the biggest slap in my face oh I do it again but what do you mean you do it again like Austin Wells you're smarter than that like what I'm like I don't know just if that for the whole day yesterday pissed me off I don't blame you I think it's a very important I think Aaron Boone's a good manager but it's like man you got to like I'm very very curious to see if jazz jazzym is your second basement he can't he can't be right he can't I got to tell you right now he's not he's not stepping on the field again for me from the ain't I'd be don't I'm he's gone at the end of the year anyway he was in embarrassment the other night he reacted as an embarrassment after the game I'm I'm sorry that's

thank you for your service here good luck in your next contract could you more we're done couldn't agree more I think that I mean I didn't stop like I understand why you would want that to work with how talented he is and what he brings to this team I get it to go bases I mean he does he does all he's a supremely talented player I totally agree but then you get him into situations like that and no it's the jazz show and I like people like who's trying to do too much no no it was he was trying to he was trying to make a play because it was going to be a great play for him like that's what he was doing terrible it was terrible it was it was a disgusting play and any other base I mean but just someone's you know going back to the base for anything remember Miami yeah it's like what are you doing oh I know the field what does that mean what are you talking about that's who he is that's exactly who he is all right let's break we'll come back we'll get your calls K was in sense yesterday we'll hear what he had to say uh Aaron Boone still has confidence in his team to come back and win this series I think it's

fair to say most Yankees fans think this thing is done right it feels like a lot of Yankees fans feel like today today will be a day Max Reato picks well they'll win but ultimately the series is going to be okay yeah I don't I don't I don't I tell you what you come back win three games that are over Tampa yeah that would be a hell of a hell of a hell of a chance they've shown really no sign of doing that no rich eyes in here with some advice if high interest credit card debt is grinding you down it might be time to call an audible with a so-fi personal loan it consolidates your debt into one low monthly payment with no fees required and with as soon as the same day funding you can make the right play fast call an audible on your debt today at so-fi.com slash debt play loans originated by so-fi bank NA member FDIC terms and conditions apply NMLS 696891 fast ones terms apply at so-fi.com slash debt play there's nothing worse than waking up sick in this time of year with the kids back in school surrounded by hundreds of others yours may bring home a whole new world of viruses and bacteria your family may have no immunity to no kids viruses

you're right like I mean that's your family it's a personal decision oh well but it's family first and it's especially if it's your first born you want to be there you want to support your wife and everything else then but also like a finite amount of time that you get to compete for get a championship and if you're it's like if you're somebody that's you're like you're not mason miller or you're not max freed where you're starting game three you're down to oh they need you to be at your best it's like is that something that you end up like down the road having an issue with that you weren't that you weren't there that probably not personally having issue with personally I'm not worried about that I don't care what anyone else yeah I don't I don't think so I don't think being there for your families ever something that you're gonna look back on like man that was a that was a bad decision but I don't know maybe I don't think there's a wrong decision it's not a wrong decision but like just how that makes you feel it was not too long ago that that like sports talk shows what attack athletes for yeah well take an extra like extra time

like I don't even take in any time I remember Daniel Murphy took paternity at the beginning of a season when he was I wasn't like more because he took like more than a day I don't know yeah like the expectation I don't think he took a lot a lot of time by comparison like go watch the birth and then a few miss if you miss four or five days in in second week of April I mean I don't see why how that's a big deal or a bad thing yeah I don't think it's a bad thing either I think it's a personal you got to get attacked for I remember that yeah I remember defending him like who are you out there to attack an athlete because well everyone wants to believe that they would do some different until they were actually in the in those shoes I don't think you ever have a view when you look back and be like man I can't believe I spent so much time with my family no I don't think it's I also think just in general like everyone like it especially the the job that we do everyone thinks that you know they could they could play call better than Frank Wright could play everybody thinks they could coach better than Aaron Glender I would do this right that's like okay like

the reason why Aaron Glenn is doing what he's doing and Frank Rager doing what they're doing and Aaron Boos doing what he's doing and you're not you know what I did yesterday for you for everyone touch yourself why would I touch myself for you see I don't know why would you say I'll rain the shower before I don't know we got a big blu-tru thing today maybe a prime of yourself up I'm gonna I'm gonna just look the other way and run past that I was thinking about rain the shower this morning I wasn't soap on myself up in a sexual way you doing the shower I was in the shower I was like right you left that up for the imagine that was like panels letters that was one of the things that was better off not knowing that was like an erotic adlib I wonder what he was thinking about I saw like a wild rumpus begin I saw a statistic about the jets and I was shaking my head I was like I'm gonna I'm gonna mark this down yeah and bring it to your attention today on the show when we when do you want to tease it or we doing that I will do it later okay I you're gonna make me sick yes it's going to make you want to

punch yourself in the thing I'm all hooked up on this never made a case well that that's great news so yeah so here we are with the Yankees they look to keep the season alive tonight max free not ready to reflect yet on the season they still have more to accomplish the season's not finished for me I mean this is this is where we want to go this is what this is what we've been working for and you know it was a it's a good start as far as my last start but I'm a little bit more focused on on the team success and we're down to right now so whatever we have to do to be able to win the models game that's that's kind of that's all my focus I mean that's all he can do feel the baseball how about that how about run the bases properly they're not a buttoned up team oh I'm because I don't I don't have the answer for you of why I can't explain it doesn't make sense they're not a buttoned up team like you usually understand when it's like young guys that make mistakes right I mean I told you I'm there for you when Nathan McKinney said it like it's hard to win championships with young players because young players make mistakes especially when you start talking about you know the postseason playoffs everything's everything's ratcheted up and some

guys can't deal with the pressure because they're just not used to that kind of pressure there's a team that's in the playoffs every year yeah I mean this is like at some point we have to get over like the moments too big we're trying to do that can't be an excuse all the time well that's what it feels like it's not too big for Tampa no it wasn't too big for Toronto wasn't too big for the diners was but yes you're right it feels like it's too big when you go out there you play like that when you play and you look like you're disinterested and ill prepared it looks like it's too big and it's disgusting I don't know what else there's to say about it's disgusting I gotta tell you though like and now this this wasn't something that was I don't know if he said it directly but the inference was that this is a crapshoot right like this is is just keep putting yourself in the playoffs right at some point you know it's gonna things will you know health and performance and everything will line up and you'll win a world series now that hasn't happened you've been to a world series you lost the Dodgers they they mocked you on the way out like similar to what I'm sure they're saying in Tampa right like put the ball in play the Yankees will screw it up because they're not buttoned up I'm sure Tampa saying the same thing right like don't if as good as Slitler is

if we get back to ball and make the Yankees make enough plays they'll screw it up which is exactly what they did yes they you can't honestly believe it's a crapshoot if since Aaron Boone's been the manager you've only won one series where you're not the better team if you spend the entire time beating teams that are worse than you and losing team to teams that are better than you that's not a crapshoot no that's just that teams better that's right and the one you did win was two games against Cleveland when there was no fence yeah so when the Yankees I mean for the most part defined when the Yankees are taking on teams that is a real kind of course of 162 this isn't like well 162 they're they're they're golden they're fine no but I'm saying like this is not like a small sample size like hey this team was better than us over the last couple weeks or the last month of the season this is a tablet is better for the season I'm giving you 162 games to prove who's better mm-hmm and you can bake all the excuses you wanted to that injuries and everything else but when

that team has a better 162 than you and you play them in the postseason Aaron Boone's teams don't win yes that's not a crapshoot well that's what they want you to believe that's not a crapshoot well that's what they'll try to sell you it's a crapshoot just get in and you know the crapshoot they're like being there's all these different instances where you lose because you lose the word a team that's worse than you no no you're losing to teams that are better than you just get in and you have as good a chance as anybody but that's that true that factually that's untrue that's you don't have as good a chance because you never win well but you're also not beating teams that are better than you like a crapshoot means that he like like right then once in a while you would punch up and you would go take down the mighty Dodgers or the blue jays or the rays or yastros like yes it's even it goes both ways to have a rivalry each team has to be good and each team has to win if the one team wins every time is that really a rivalry probably not no if the better team is if you're always losing to the better team that's not a crapshoot that's just the reality that you're not as good as that team but that I think that's where we are so now but that now but that now opens up a whole bigger can of worms because who do you play for that you would blame the guy that

puts the team together and the guy that manages it but the problem is is that no one feels like the guy who puts the team together is going anywhere so who ends up paying the price for this maybe nobody I would guess nobody well you're not gonna blame the players like you're not gonna punch what do you get how can you punish the players unless you move on from them that's it right it's too hard to jazz we know is gonna be gone well you guys you got certain guys just financially that are locked in that you can't you're not gonna move off of right so I don't know what you're supposed to do pretty much put together the whole team almost the whole team right now oh first pace is gonna be Garcia and rice Garcia and rice second base gonna be for all these years on one part third base is gonna be with me and we know exactly well and then the athletes gonna be Spencer Jones and Judge and Belinger that's your team that's how do you fix it though I don't know right had do I fix it that I can win the whole thing I don't know how do I fix it that I can get back here next year they're gonna be here every year they're too talented to not be good enough in 162 game how do I create some sense of urgency so I don't have a month during the regular seasons where

we don't need a voice that's right but that's what I'm saying is it's not again it's not because Aaron Boone's not good at his job or the guys don't love him or how does love him it's not a was removed from his job with the Ravens no one questions whether or not it's a good coach I'm not even joking to you it's been four games okay and you have every player in that locker I'm talking about how they believe in certain situations this year they'll win games as opposed to what they've had in the past with a lose game okay that is the whole like that is changing the culture personified and I got myself I'm telling you I got myself worked up and I don't know if it was the nerve medication that I you know whatever it was but like I even when I said this to you during the break what scatter bool acted like camp scatter bool just because he is he is his human being and he's doing back flips at fanatics fest and then eventually we get to the point where it was pretty clear that John Harboh had a talk with him camp scatter bool's response when asked that question was yeah I probably not be doing back flips anymore yeah because the coach got in his ear as opposed to the Yankees where it's like oh no I would do it again but should you have to get into the players

here you make a huge mistake huge mistake yeah during the course of the game the manager should need to get at you or or or wills is here be like hey listen you need to have established that that is unacceptable that making those decisions is unacceptable right like and you like you how many we've done this a million times where and I told you this a million times usually when you hear players speak after a game it's essentially what the coaches just said after the game yeah you echo what the coach sentiments are I totally I'm going to set the tone this is what happened this is what's wrong that we play good did we play bad and then from the players you're usually here a summarized version like the Clifnose version in their own words of what the coach just said that you like if you came into my locker after a game to like even like when we win we give out the player of the game so it's like it's a it's a military helmet because that's one of our things whatever the kid will have to make it the kids will make a speech it's essentially what I've just said like the kids go speech speech speech and they'll pretty much like in their own words say what I said the tone also you're an adult with children and this is I know with adults I understand that

but you're still like you're at a level different like you're the one that sets the tone you set the agenda you said what's acceptable what's unacceptable so like they like and this is a special place it's not a young kid it was like oh I I don't know it's not like it's a young bar right he hasn't learned yet right like I don't think he can learn jazz no but like even the well it just it's frustrating I do it again by the way Ray Daniel Murphy missed a lot of time right two games oh stuffin two stuffin two games well because these because these people are like oh you just two games I would I'd miss no games it was it was the funny days of the season but the the question you have to ask those people is in your job that you do for a living how many days would you miss would you be a rushback yeah if you had a hole if they gave you two weeks would you be like no no you keep those days I'm gonna come back the next day now you probably take as much time as your wife asked you to take with it this it's crazy but they don't look at it as a job this is just fun but it is a job and and there are real things that happen away from the

even if you look at this is and and else too right where kids in a candy store what are but real things happen you get sick family emergency yeah but these things happen we're also savages though like we're not we're not normal though I think I missed I don't know what I don't think I missed the day for the birth of my kids yeah but I don't I don't I don't have time I got me out of the I don't look at that like I didn't miss time it with the birth as like well look at Rick what a what a no like you should no no I listen and if it was like I had to do the show in a different state like I would have to like miss time with my family to go I think being dedicated to your to your job is great no but I think it just speaks to what we were just talking about for the first 39 minutes of the show it's just like when a certain tone is set when expectations are set like the culture of this show is set this is what we are everyone knows that even if you're dealing with the sniffles or even when you had freaking COVID you showed up because you thought and you know that my guys would show up and do the same thing I agree that's but that's culture that's a team some of the some of these comments about Danny Murphy it was why I remember being back like it was

wild oh my god they should have just scheduled a C section before the season is what a radio host said another radio host says I don't know why you need two days off your major league baseball player higher a nurse take care of the baby if the wife needs help well because it's because that's oh my god it goes back to you that these guys make so much money they should be able to do this like it's just it's people don't want to believe that would it's a job it's it's higher a nurse is a really dismissive content it's really it's an awful awful take I've had people I've had people no joke like wouldn't just like doing this coaching stuff that are like you're rich should just pay for everything it's easy for you to say my money it's easy it's easy to say you're still paying you should just pay for everything what we pay for everything like everything just like all the stuff that's included in like in sports it's just take care of the team he's he's got enough money on the teams that you're coaching yeah I've had that happen before a record you should just pay for it why would we pay for it it's like why why would you just because you have a lot of money doesn't mean you should use all of it exactly I like to keep some of it right

hey you're going to pay off the bet right hey i love listening to you in the morning but you're going to pay off the bet right and so there's a lot of outside pressure for me to resolve this and there is a chance i'm in New York i'm going to cover the Yankees tonight and you know potentially in game four and so there is a window where i hoping i can pay off the bet so can you expand on this a little bit what what is the the window and the possibility do you really want to get into the contingencies all right you tell us off the air i guess probably not all right so so let's get into that game two game one i mean the race picture was awesome Yankees picture was was pretty awesome as well Yankees pitching was really good buster game two i mean it is it fair to say that was a disgrace of a display from the Yankees it was absolutely horrible you know and whatever word you want to apply that you know it reflects ugliness it would be appropriate

i mean even came shortly after the game you know talking about you know feeling like that maybe they weren't ready to go i think what was going on was is that you had a lot of players anxious playing the race having had really ugly performances in the trop this year and knowing that when they play in that ballpark you know it's so incumbent upon them to play clean games and you know and to have a you know one of the best third basement of baseball Ryan McMahon just making inexplicable play i thought George Lombard was rushing jazz trying to make something happen you know with turning that double play um it was ugly and uh you know i mean it was the exact opposite of what you need to do to face the race who just constantly put pressure on you because they don't strike out they bump the ball a lot they run the bases really well and the Yankees just killed themselves right but buster why don't the Yankees do those things well i feel like this is something that they dealt with in the world series and then got mock you know mocked for it by the Dodgers after they lost yeah i don't see a through line in that uh

just because the players are so different like i think i mean objectively Ryan McMahon is one of the best offensive players in baseball at his position and he just screwed up um you know i i think George Lombard Jr is just a young player who's going to be excellent defensively during the course of his career but he does you know at this stage his career makes mistakes jazz is the one where you felt like at least i did i don't know if you guys did but going in this series i'm like yeah at some point jazz it just plays so loose that he's going to do something where he'll make a mistake and and that's surely what it's happened but i think it's different than it was uh from the the team is so different from that world series team in 2024 you can't play jazz tonight can you well i think they can if they want to match up right uh i know this i mean kabi erro has really good numbers against nick martina as in his career and i suspect that one way or the other he's going to be in the lineup if you wanted to go you know defense first uh then yeah to me you play

vault because i mean he's not certainly that his ceiling is not as high as jazz but he also isn't going to make mistakes like jazz i mean that that series the part of the reason why i was anticipating that jazz at some point would be make a defensive stake was just watching that early season series i mean it always felt like he was in the wrong spot or you know making a making the wrong decision or sending throwing the ball someplace else uh where at some place where he shouldn't have in that situation the other night i mean you appreciate the fact that it hasn't has in his mind that he's going to turn the double play but he had no chance what are you doing throwing the ball well it was a selfish play i mean he was you know exactly what he was doing um buster will concerns me the most not concerns me i shouldn't say that what what frustrates me the most and we talked about this in the first hour of the show is not only the mistakes but it's like the like the response to the mistake after they make it like you know austin well knows better than to try to make you know to stretch that into a triple and they ask him after the game he goes i do it again jazz same thing i do it again i just throw a closer to first base it's like i mean i

what does that say about just like the level or lack of accountability inside that clubhouse yeah and i can't speak to that um you know because i and i do think in that case it's like you know in in austin case i think it was a defensiveness because as you're watching the game i mean everybody you know who's ever played was going no what are you doing cardinal rule and here's austin well you you know part of his is uh in the reason why he's in the big leagues is because he's such as you know excellent cerebral catcher like he makes great decisions and i kind of wonder if that was just a case where he didn't want to own up to a mistake right in that moment but i'm sure that you know as uh as he process and he was in a different place i just think that that's jazz right i just think that he's never going jazz is personality he's never going to tell you yeah i screwed up so i i mean other guys you know do you own up to those things i and i don't think it's about a culture i think it's about the individual players it's defiant though i it would

drive me insane to sit here and just like now i i mean buster there's no way he could ever make that play it wasn't possible i mean camo there was was was you on the on the the cutout by the time the ball got the first base it wasn't close by sitting here telling us no i would do that again is that like a big middle finger to the fan base no i think again i i think that that's just his personality you know Aaron Boone has told us stories about i think it was the uh you know what was the situation during the year where he what was he what did he have out its second base a lolly pie that you right he had the lolly pop its second base and and Aaron Boone told us the story about calling him in after the game like jazz what are you doing like you know because he wasn't aware of booney wasn't aware of it in the moment but then jazz you know kind of nods okay i get it but i don't think when it comes to media members like me uh you know if he makes a mistake he's not gonna looking you in the eye and say yeah i screwed that up you know yes i'm i'm responsible

for that you know i i can't tell you how many games i covered were mariana Rivera blue is saving he's waiting for us at the locker and he's saying yep that's on me yeah i screwed that up i mean that's a you know long been a strategy in the anky clubhouse jazz just isn't cut out that way and i don't think he's ever going to knowledge to any reporter after the game that he made a mistake but you know behind the scenes when they bring it up to him he like yeah okay i get it now you know the larger question i think is as you move forward um you know knowing that this is part of who he is that he's gonna make mistakes that it's inconsistency um you know are you gonna bring it back my guess is no buster only joins us here on the show so buster what happens if if the aiki's don't come back in the series i mean i think the expectation here from just the the calls that we're taking is you know maybe they find a win you'll wait a win tonight with max freed but no one has the expectation that it's gonna win three straight did did they make a change does something have to change i know this year was about running it back it feels like david and i were going through it like you have a pretty good idea was going to be on the team next year

what changes anything yeah it's really interesting i i was thinking about this uh the other day talking with michael k um about how going into an off season i i can't remember no matter what happens going forward where they seem to be as well set up as they are going into the winter like it's not like we have you know ten major questions like we've had in the past when judge was a free agent and so there really isn't a lot of change to be made uh among the position player group you know there is going to be the question the official is jaz going to be back is he not going to be back is he going to invest in him etc uh but that player group i think largely is going to remain the same and look i know uh that there's always a lot of conversation when the yankees lose around the manager i there are certainly organizations where it feels like that there are fissures and fractures between the owner and the general manager and the manager i have not seen one like i i you know you talk to brine catchman and aron bonages guy and uh we know through actions and through the you know

thirty year relationship the brine catchman is house timebrunners guy so my guess is there won't be a change is there like a leadership on this team as far as players are concerned you know i i i i guess it goes to you know again you try to think about what could be different in applying you know what happened the other night i don't know how you're going to change jaz uh you know in terms of him making mistakes i don't know you know who is going to be the person to to say it often well what were you thinking like who who is the guy you know that one of the cool stories i heard this year uh in our conversations from you know working with adam out of you know he played on the meds and he you know talked about how the other players because you guys always heard stories about japh mcneal and sometimes you'd focus on himself and he would tell the stories about how after the game you know guys like pete lanza would go they would they would get on uh

jeff and they would say things like hey uh you know look we lost and there's jeff got three hits so he's happy so they they're definitely would be policing there and i can't you know just uh you know i haven't heard enough this year about whether or not with judge being out you know who is that guy who in the past it's been stand from what i what i've heard but you guys know this wreck you know better than i do a lot of times and players are injured there's this sense of you know who am i to to ride on these guys i don't know if they necessarily have that guy and in quite frankly i don't know what if it would have made a difference the other day i just think they play tight against the team that just puts a lot of pressure on them right but yeah i mean i just don't understand how we're at a point now where players are different i get it but still you're talking about the same things we went into the series and david and i were breaking the whole thing down and it's like okay what are the things that are going to hold the Yankees back from getting through this series because you love your chances in the next one Aaron Boone's teams don't beat teams that are better that's just

the reality the last time they did it was in against cleveland during covid when they were they they were the lower seed like they they beat teams are supposed to be they're not as good as Tampa but like the idea that this is a veteran team and all we talk about is how if you put pressure on them if you put balls in place they'll make mistakes where you know Tampa were like oh they're so button up they're so fundamentally sound like i don't i don't understand where the disconnect comes like you know this is a like we knew going in this would be a problem how is it not something that the Yankees affixed to great question and i'm sure in in uh... in their conversations when the winners over that they will i mean look last year when they got beat up by the toronto blue jays all year what was the common denominator was that the blue jays put the ball in play and the blue jays put pressure on them uh... and i'm sure that is they go forward especially knowing that camp solit was going to be the leader of that pitching staff you know a lot of swing and miss they have to focus on you know walking it down defensively there have been times when it you have felt like that they you know are a good defensive team but they are to aprontum mistakes you gotta believe that you

know decisions the second base and third base the defense is going to be a major priority buster only with us here in his typical um... spy it's a typical today's Wednesday usually it's Tuesday but you know seven thirty five Tuesday or Wednesday um is this done like do you give the the anguies of a punchers chance to get back into the series or would you be stunned if they won the series you know i i would not be stunned if they get back into it i would be surprised if they win at this point because again the trop has been such a hard place for them to win they've lost uh... seven of nine down there and so even if you get through game three and games four uh... you would still give the advantage the raise in a game five situation but it wouldn't surprise me if they get back into it you know earlier this week i did a piece uh... on home field advantage among the eight remaining teams and i pulled a bunch of managers and coaches and said okay which teams which ballpark did you see the best home field advantage and so many of them mentioned the trop and to you know i and i want to have in the trop i think third in my rankings uh... most of

the people i talked to said yankie stadium is the number one home field advantage they feel like that the intensity of the ballpark the fact that the fans are there they're early they're into it they're into every pitch and they put pressure on opponents and when you have that atmosphere and let's face it the dimensions of the ballpark i don't know how you guys reacted the other day on Cody Bellinger when he hit that ball um... you know straightaway center field your instinct is that's gone yep in game one there are a couple balls you're like that's gone but the trop is such an absolute canyon uh... that it contains and fits their pictures because they they pound the strike zone uh... you know opponents put the ball in play and the raise make plays uh... in yankie stadium you get more payoff and i think that that'll happen the next two days boss the last one for me so freedom pitch tonight when you look at the numbers tap a clearly not as good against lefties cold was good in game one are you expecting if they win this game tonight you're going to see redone in game four i am uh... i think that uh... yes he's lined up that i think they as you guys saw at the end of the

year you can make a case that he was pitching better that either freed or uh... you know garret down the stretch and and you know all indications i've gotten is that they're lining up for that game and then they would go with camon game five and let's face it if they do get to a game five slitlers that is you know potentially the equalizer you know he seems to be uh... in how he compete especially on the road like he would give them their best chance to actually get through this series but there's a lot of work to do before they get there and and uh... you know yankie stadium dimensions the the crowd i think will be a factor and they have to find a way to your what guys are watching the the postseason junior camon arrow you know our pool said to me earlier this year that when judge retires junior camon arrow is going to be the next judge and you can see his confidence growing through each of these games he's got some swag nobody hits for more power they have to make sure that he doesn't beat them in the next two days buster i lot i have one last question do you think that aron boon loves loves the idea of having all these different plentona

vanishes because it feels like it opens you up to a lot of second guessing if you make the wrong decision or if the player doesn't go execute when you put them in there i think in today's game they do like having reenol right left options i remember the conversation with you guys at the trade deadline where you know they were trying to look ahead at possible matchups because you guys are watching all have all these series are playing out uh... you know the point of service essentially just going left right left right left right so i do think the liankies like you know having different options on their bench having a paul goldsmith when they face the left hander uh... you know having options from the left side when they face a right hander but i think sure if you know if jazz chism was exactly who you know they you know played to his level of talent all the time i think they would love that i think they would love for him to be a you know factor against right hander left handers but when you don't get that in the do make adjustments uh... buster one more for me um... i know you picked the brewers over the dodgers before this whole postseason started you stand by

that or you want to flip to the dodgers again no i i would pick the brewers over the dodgers but i would say i mean much you know the number two team in whole field advantage was sandy a go in the feedback that i got pet go park is a real thing forty seven thousand people fans are on the field last night you know they had a great win michael king comes out of the bullpen they'll get mason miller back from from paternity leave today i think they potentially going to get back into that series and there's no question about it the dot the dodgers of two thousand twenty six are like the yankees of two thousand two thousand one they are vulnerable show a ton he looks terrible uh... you know he looks like uh... someone said like his butt's going to the first base dug out with a swing it's wide day robert stropt and down the line up yesterday some of the older guys look older in how they're going here um... so i do think the the uh... the dodgers are in a place now where it's you know it's very possible someone's going to beat them but they don't get by the braves in your opinion right i do i think you know watching that game last night that uh... you know that to me was going to

decide whether not that you know decide the series because it guaranteed a game five back in l.a. um... and what a performance by m moto who is just he's also i you know you i ate earn runs in eight postseason starts and the the dodgers basically uh... line him up to pitch on the road because he just show unflappable actually think cam is a lot like him i i i think that yamamoto just has such mount presence nothing bothers him on this team of all the famous i would bet that if you did private polling among the players he's the most trusted guy in that group all right you're the most trusted guy in our group outside of the whole uh... the lunch pay off uh... i think i don't know if it's going to work on your guy and but i think friday could be the day friday's the possibility friday's the possibility the ain't he's lose today all right and touch we look forward to that now so if the if the ain't he's win tonight

friday's off the table it it all depends yes because i would have to travel that back if the Yankees win today tomorrow then i have to travel to to Tampa for game five all right keep us posted thanks poster okay guys all right there you go that's poster only would you get coffee all over yourself you're you're really it's all it's all over you it's all it's all it's dead down your shirt i don't know it's all it's all over you back it's the bill of hitting it's still really really it's all the mouse or you know that alone is i don't have a bad back ruin the math torrent because i can't get back properly i mean too much discomfort by the way i've been fighting saying this it's freezing i can tell it's it's freezing in here it's not a he's just a microphone off the book it's free it you're not supposed to be able to go to to to your mouth but you can hear in this weather it's freezing in here arjah how do you allow this well i walked it's like 60 degrees in here i walked in i said how do we feel about these six i said how it's not this is not comfortable nice i asked you like 45
