At Edward Jones, we believe Rich is about taking care of what gives your life meaning. That's why your financial advisor personalizes your plan to help you preserve your progress and create something that lasts. Let's find your Rich. Edward Jones, member SIPC. Therapy's biggest impact doesn't show up in some dramatic breakthrough. It shows up in the smallest moments. You bite your tongue instead of escalating. You put your phone down instead of firing off that text. You say what you actually mean instead of what would hurt someone else the most. Nobody applauds those moments, but they quietly change your life. That's what growing feels like, and that's exactly what growth therapy is here for. Grow is therapy that works, covered by insurance. Sessions average $21 with insurance and some pay as little as $0 depending on their plan. There are no subscriptions, no long-term commitments. You just pay per session. Grow connects you with thousands of high-quality licensed therapists across the US, offering both virtual and in-person
sessions, nights and weekends. You can search by what matters, like insurance, specialty, identity, or availability, and you can book a therapy session in minutes and begin in as little as two days, not the national 48-day average. See if you could pay as little as $0 for therapy in seconds at growtherapy.com slash start now. That's growtherapy.com slash start now. Growtherapy.com slash start now availability and coverage vary by state and insurance plan. Welcome back to the Landon Rouge Sarkin podcast for the weekly show. It's not been so weekly recently, but it's an interim period with the World Championships, Road Race. We've got the Europeans preview to do in Giro de la Mili. We've got some beautiful Italian races coming up. Who will be at the Motare Pagature return? But we have some worlds to wrap up. Grow Race as well as fines. UCI points changes. The calendar is starting to
be released. We have most of the calendar released last night for the 2027 season as well as some pretty big women's transfers. We're going to do a whole host of women's transfers. Big one announced last night. Neither the right or anything on the Twitter France this year and has won the Twitter France before. Indeed, we'll do some previews after we've set up such brought to you by Sally. How are you, Benji? You're on the move. What's your movements next? I arrived in Belgium. Controversial take from the Gego Patrick. Once you're traveling, you realize that the basic needs of humans are being priced out, Patrick. I spoke about the waters in Frankfurt last year. Now I have to talk about toilets and train stations should be free. That's why I pay my taxes. I'm sorry. Yeah, I get that, but we get us these repenting though. What do you mean? Well, in the UK, you don't have to pay for them generally. And neither Australia. Yeah,
so it's your repenting. Doesn't mean it's a good thing. No, it doesn't mean they're generally cleaner though. Well, this is argument that people make that if you pay for them, then they use that money to make them cleaner. I'm saying that my tax money, that's already the base money that should go to cleaning toilets and stations. Yeah, I think you're probably right. Or McDonald's. What? Exactly. So hopefully that, yeah, hopefully that result for you, but what you're in Belgium, what do you say? What are you doing? Previewing, doing a recon of flanders? No, I don't have my bike here. I'm going to walk. I'm going to walk back. I'm just visiting family. Now we understand what Ben you're doing. I'm trying to take a holiday during the European Chams as I'm fanatically against the concept of them. So we'll get to that later. Yeah, yeah, seem some teams are as well. We've got some big riders going there. Why isn't Brandon
McNulty showing off his world champs jersey in Slovenia or European champs? So, you know, big questions that you're needing to be asked, but indeed, let's get into, let's finish the world championship roadway speaking of Brandon McNulty, who won, of course. And we have some not beef that more Tom Pidcock, Michael Matthews, is act of all Toro drama, let's say, and that is that. Yeah, Michael Matthews said there was a bit of teamwork between certain riders. They were riding together a bit. If fewer teams had ridden across national borders, who would have caught him, it is what it is. Matthews resigned himself to the situation. That's from cycling news. Tom Pidcock said that Del Toro was clearly riding for McNulty and having with the dust having settled, what do you think, Benji? I think Del Toro did a lot of work early. I do think he definitely started soft tapping through when McNulty went. I don't think he was like, I'm not going to bring
him back and make sure I lose. Yeah. Yeah. He might have done with another rider too. So I think the base concept already is the fact that it wouldn't be new if that was the case to begin with. So in previous years, we had quick step riders in groups with Remco, for example, clearly viving together and trying to get a Remco victory out of it. And I think we've seen the same across nations throughout the years. This is not a new concept. That said, yes, some people saw McNulty attacking while Del Toro was at the front of the group, not responding and deemed that to be cooperating, collaborating, especially because they spoke together. That's what makes it look bad. That they spoke together like two minutes earlier next to each other yapping to each other, potentially about a potential collaboration. That to the side, I just think this is a non-issue because Del Toro had been so active up until that point that there's a perfectly normal argument
to be made that I think he still rolled through quite a few times afterwards. But even if he didn't, he did so much work, even when it wasn't necessarily earlier in the race, that there's an argument to be made that he was like, okay, I've done most of the work in this group. I don't feel like I'm the one that needs to close his gap. And that's fair. I do think that there was a bit of exaggerated criticism to Pitcock's take as in people then started hitting on Pitcock for not doing anything, but I think Pitcock was the biggest engine in trying to get McNulty back in the finals. So he deserves credit there. Matches roll through a few times, but matches is matches. Once you see Michael, matches in a group two, you know, group two syndrome is happening. That's no offense to Michael matches, but it's also how he is able to in my opinion, optimize his podium position, you know? And yeah, when you look at he let out the group, he had a lot left in the last 800 meters compared to the rest. So he chose also not to invest that energy in bringing back McNulty. He chose to conserve for a sprint. And that's why he was able to lead out the group and still put them
and put them on a gap. He just destroyed everybody. There's also the elements of like just because you have energy at a finish line, doesn't mean you have that energy going over the top of the climb. So for example, once McNulty will in six, seven seconds over the top there, matches was probably just tempwing himself trying to survive that club to begin with. So you can't then expect matches to be the one closing McNulty just after the top because the climb is the hardest part of the loop for him. I think there's a lot more new ones to this discussion than than the camps are pretending there is at the end of the day. I don't care too much McNulty put himself in the position where this was possible. It's an absolutely deserved victory from his end. And even if McNulty and Del Toro had a slight collaboration and not trying to close each other in the final, that happens every single year in the season. I'd like to go and look the last one and a half laps how many times Von the pool came back and to hit the front with a long hard pull. It didn't happen. It didn't happen. That's why when when it was the group with Chaconne,
Pete Cock, Healy and there's four smalls in Jorgensen, I'll let as soon as Von the pool and Del Toro catch them, unless Von the pool immediately goes to the front and gives them a pull to say I'm here, but I'm pulling. They're not coming back. So it's a shared responsibility of riders gambling and yeah, that's why team tactics worked. That's why UAE won a million races in previous season in like Hilly Rises. It's why USA won. Yeah, and it's also why, because USA and Italy were in the same camp. They both had like three riders in the three final to play this game with. They missed out on the much of on the pool move and then decided to even without necessarily needing to do so. Face with big on Zoli and Skaroni. Yeah. Chaconne. So we're looking at two different applications of the team where Italy fucked up early had to try and save it, which I don't think they had to save it. I think they could have played it more more defensively even with an
numerical advantage in the chasing group, but USA definitely played that numerical strength a lot better. And I also think they were the better strength in the the better team individually, but I still think that Jorgensen was the MVP of that race the way he blocked in the second group. Italy had a poor a really poor race like when you they were trying to get into moves early, which was the right thing to do. They missed van the pools first. They missed his move with Simmons and Vanart. It's not on you to the last thing you do the last thing you do is to compound not being there by then burning through your numbers so you don't have the numbers in the final. And it's not on you in France there to close that and Del Toro just wait. I saw I think a discussion topic by Rodrigo Bankins one of the I think Belgian RTBF analysts. I'm not completely sure what media platform he's usually on, but he's on my
Instagram. Yeah, I noticed because you keep yapping about his takes. But he's he spoke about a potential sickness in the Belgian team. I didn't necessarily see that. I just saw Patrick's laughing for the people on the podcast. There's a sickness all right. The sickness in the legs I think for M.Qa unfortunately. Like yeah, I don't mean they're like a negative way, but at the end of the day, I just don't think that M.Qa was good enough on the day. I don't think it's related to sickness. I think it's related to the same thing we saw in Montréal where on the consecutive uphills, he just couldn't handle the same what says his opponents good as simple as that. And I saw him go. I did well. Remko said he had a bad day. Yeah. Should happens. But I was a general. The team was poor. Yeah. Like can on that sort of course, can Belgium really not find rewriters to make the last 20? Well, the thing is normally I'd argue that maybe Benaut's
peak Benaut could make that could make that cut, but he ended up writing a very similar race to my spederson where he missed the most important split and then finished above world for not in the end. So he probably just wrote a strong race off camera, which is useless. It's not helping them win. Yeah, I know it's useless, but it is low key funding to see on hindsight. Yeah. So I think USA had the best plan executed the best and yeah, that's why they won. Pretty simple and I would argue that outside of underpull not pulling as much in the last lab that netlands. Did probably did as best as they could as well in that sense. I didn't expect anything outside of underpull from that team to be clear. So I think of underpull strategy to go in the group ahead. I think we're both like thinking what if he had stayed passive? There's a world in which that changes, but I don't think they can look back at that in a negative fashion because they clearly were in a winning position at some point in the race because of the strategy they played.
No, I think Delta or a success probably win. I think Delta is much more likely to win actually. Yeah, so because he doesn't have to do all that effort. I think Pitcock though, he's in such good shape. He just, it doesn't work out. I think the British team was good. I think that was was he not blocked by a bad behind a crash? Yeah, but I'm just not doing like only was in that move. I think there's some riders. It's it's really hard to it's not like a very binary thing like, oh, don't pull or do pull. Right. They just got to be a little bit street smarter. I think only just he wasn't street smart in that move. He wasn't. And the same topic of street smart, something that bugs me a lot. Is we're talking about Matthew Drogensen being the MVP in the chasing group. It's also because the chasing group allows Drogensen to play that will continuously move into second position and
right check him. And the well, well, I don't mean it in such a fashion. I meant it more as in the rider behind Drogensen should realize that. Yeah, yeah. And the first rider goes out of friend Drogensen will block. But they fought. They wait for five seconds of hesitation to then take over. That's where you lose the time, the valuable time. And Pitcock was the one rider who clocked that and moved in front of Drogensen every time for the relay. So where it's to him, unlike a lot of the other riders in that chasing group. Yeah, I think Pitcock really wanted to here wanted to bring the move back. But indeed, it's you got to make sure that your Gonson sits at the back of the group. And he can do that and not relay that when it was all that all that blocking that he did, which was so good. And so effective that adds up to the seven seconds to get back to McNulty. But Drogensen is the kind of rider you can't bully him to the back. You can't be like, who was it that they weren't going to pull? And then it was Casia. Yeah,
she wasn't pulling. And then Demi says something to her. She's like, oh, well, now that you said something, I'll pull. It's like, it's your opponent. If they want you to do something really badly to the extent that they'll tell you, that means what you're doing is effective. So anyway, it's a good world. We've got next year. Did we do the course next year? We did not, but it's a lot of climbing, isn't it? It's over 5,000 meters of climbing. They do, it's crazy route actually. It's like 20 laps of coach at Novel C, which was the climb that Vingigard at the start of the long end of like that 7K climb into 2023 Tour de France ITT, where Vingigard won. It's like 2.7K is 9%. And they do like 20 reps of it. So it's just, and it's a 12K lap just doing reps of this really hard climb. That sounds tough. It's right, I'll be honest, I'll be honest. It sounds like the parkour,
where we've studied Paul Gacha, is in his best form at the start line. He had thanks to him with 100 kilometers to go and win the race, but there's a time gap between now and then, where there might be growth for a full six cells or someone else. And you never know what form Paul Gacha arrives at, you never know. But I don't know, thought that Paul Gacha seems like the big fail for that, what if I'm being honest? 250, he's got to go lap one. Did that work for him, go? It would have. My strategy, my strategy, you were actually, the fastest lap was lap one when I'm a rose pulling. That was the fastest lap. So I don't think you could have a tank. He's serious. Yeah, it was the fastest lap. That's crazy. It's logical, because the in-between segments are much lower in small groups. Exactly. He's just on the flat, they go over the climb, he's just pulled into the downhill. But yeah, Paul looking good for the next year is, I think it's pure climbers. It's just so much, you can see pure climbers. Isn't it crazy how Peter Sagan won his World Championships three
times, but also on different parkours, including a flat Qatar parkour? Yeah. That's the one that he should have lost. Quote unquote. Yeah, he should have. But we do have a flat one in 2028, and then Copenhagen in 2029 as well, I believe. So we've got a couple of flat ones coming up. Wasn't Copenhagen the one where we were fighting about whether it was flat or not, and you turned out to be right? Yeah, I just went with to take the Denmarkis flat, mostly. Or else, Gilbert, there's some hills there. Yeah, I wish they did do. I wish they did do. If Jailies circuits nice, that little island, I mean, you can't hold a world on that island, but it's a little island into a Denmark with some holiday homes, where it's a nice circuit, where Pearson went last year. Yeah. All right. A bit of a nothing, but indeed, there is some World Champs beef hangover. There's also some fines, some empty pockets. We saw the Spanish Federation drivers driving like well over 100 kilometers an hour
and going airborne, getting 1,000 Swiss franc fine, and they'll kick down the World Champs. And it is like, it's crazy. I know it's World Champs, I know, but are you going to risk killing, losing a troll car, killing all those spectators on the side of the road to get across to a 17-year-old riding in a bicycle? Or come on. And like, to top that off, it is crazy to me to compare that to the other fines that came afterwards. For example, voting, getting a 1,000 Swiss franc similar fine for an improper position on the bicycle, if I recall correctly, non-compliant position. Sorry to get away suddenly from Austria as well, same level of fine, a thousand. Then it trained, yes, got a 1,000 Swiss franc fine for Binyum and I think Mulebron and the other rider, two of the three had mismatched clothing.
So also 1,000 Swiss franc fine. You're telling me Patrick, that driving more than 100 kilometers per hour, leaning towards 150, according to some calculations. That is on the same level of fine as being the wrong BipShorts Patrick. Are you saying that? Yeah, well, I think, I think though that Binyu were like special shorts because apparently it takes a Canadian company, right? Yeah, but then there's the, so could this were black shorts? Mulebron wore the it train collar shorts. Yeah. And Binyum wore the NSN shorts with NSN on his butt basically. And two of those three riders got a 500 Swiss franc fine. I couldn't figure out whether the coulda shorts were the good ones or the Mulebron shorts were the good ones. I don't particularly care. I'm just against the concept of mismatched clothing, having the same level of punishment, as a driver hitting those those speeds. You could argue, okay, the driver was punished more
because he was kicked out of the Monterey World's. I'm sorry, but to me, that's something that should land you in the disciplinary commission. I agree. It's not like Pog when he's had a mech at Rubai, is it? It's like, no, that was probably solo. Chill the fuck out. Chill out, man. Like, what are you doing? And the convoy, it's really scary. When you go to a bicycle race, you're not signing up to stand at the side of the road of, you know, those rally races where the cars are coming around the corner at 150 Ks an hour and if they lose control. And the UK. I love that. Yes, the TVK. For example, you're not signing up to see that. So I think I agree with you that it's much more serious than some mismatched kid. And you know, it's bad enough. We have you know, continued deaths in the sport from people having crashes incidents with, or crashes with
vehicles on the park hall that shouldn't be. But if this sort of driver behavior, yeah, it wasn't there. Yeah, it looks just reminding me there was literally a death last year in Rwanda. I think so. I don't remember if it was the Tour de Rwanda or the actual world. I think you might have been a Tour de Rwanda where a car went off course and hit spectators if I recall two people were killed in a in a UCI race last year. Two people killed watching a side. Spectators were killed watching a side thing race. You go to watch a side of the race, you're risking dying. I don't know what the situation in that scenario was whether it was a driver doing something crazy or something happening. But this driver clearly did something crazy and could have led to people dying. So I, it's got to be punished more severely. Yeah, I mean, I'm getting into like the politics of like, you know, people who are continue to allow to be allowed to drive their car after you after 10. Yeah, pretty much like I can't wait for the day. There's all autonomous
vehicles. I'm long, I'm long cycling by cycle. Yeah, good. I don't need it. If I lived in, yeah, if I lived in London, Paris or wherever, Barcelona, I wouldn't earn a car, but can't wait for drivers. I live in my mansion in Monaco, Patrick, or whatever you think cycling is if you had to buy cycling stocks, you'd buy them because as driverless cars become more prevalent, it's going to be safer to cycle. I think people are going to get so scared that a guy is going to take over their car and drive them into the nearby river that they're going to take a bicycle and a buy computer can't do that. Patrick, that's my whole thing. I'm not being scared. I can't format a fucking Excel document and you tell me this is going to take over the world. It's like, how about you can't look at my Excel document first, buddy? Then we can talk about you living in my house. But yeah, the I agree with you that there should be, is it a serious matter? The drive we see
in World Tour Race, we see Crazy Shit, we see Crazy Shit. When the UAE, Karin Rubei, when Polk had the Mac, I was like, if one of these riders, you're passing moves a little bit, you're going to crash them. So, Demi Volving also, if you want to do an illegal hand position, just make sure you win the race. Just make sure you win, then you won't get DQ. It's interesting. In this specific case, Austrian rider, I think, Sudnik did the same thing. She also didn't get a qualified. She got the same penalty as Volving. But then I think we're going to repeat the story as always. But the young Vila Mavanship is now retiring from the sport. I think it's also because he's clearly getting severe punishments for everything he does in the sport while other waters get away with it. So, yeah, I can imagine that doesn't feel great in the first place. But putting these fines to the side, Patrick, I'm not going to be finding you anytime soon, but will you find that a pogachar if he
was the European Championships? No, I won't, because he can do it. He's not going to be in great shape, if he doesn't. Yeah, he broke his collarbone and neck at the Tour de France. Pretty severe injury, especially the neckboard. I think it was a collarbone in multiple places, so also not a simple collarbone fracture. Now, I think my take back then, my take still is the World Championships. I think thought he sat that he can't do World, Lombardi, etc. But I think he's the most sat that he maybe couldn't do the European Championships, because how many times is going to happen that that happens in Slovenia or a World in Slovenia? It's not going to happen anytime soon. So an event like this in Slovenia, next time we're going to see that is maybe a grander par of a grand tour somewhere. So I think he really wants to be here, wanted to be here, and we see that in the way that, well, first of all, he popped up on like a start list for the race, which I think is just the initial start list of like reserves included, etc. I don't think that
mattered at all to me. But there was more smoke, where there seems to be fire in the last couple days. That said, John Eti basically put the, what do you call it when you've got a pot on the stove, and you put the thing on it? What do you put on it? I think John Eti put the lid on it. He said it's not happening. Pogaccia had his first outdoor ride, I think last week, end of last week, after crashing out of the world to maybe over a month ago, I think. So for weeks that tracks, and yeah, he had his first outdoor ride. So it's just no way he's going to ride European champs on Saturday. It'd be crazy if he lined up. I mean, imagine if he won, it would be, it would be crazy, like especially imagine if he won, where you can tell he's not at like, not in good shape, but he still somehow finds a way to win. That would be an incredible race. And of course, he wants to be there because it's just an install. So a bit of shame, it's going to be a good race regardless. Great start list. For answers, got a couple of riders that kept away from Monterey all to be there.
Of course it does. Yeah, but Lenny is Lenny there? Yeah. Um, I don't know, six else definitely isn't there if I recall correctly. He's skipping right. What are you saying as an he is there? Should be there. Did I invent that? Wait, he's skipping one. I thought so. I thought he was skipping for the sake of one more. Yeah, keep us. Keep us. That's not a French buddy. Why? They're qua to the gym. That's the one you should use. But yeah, we'll get to the start list of that later, Patrick. European champs that deserves this lot at the end of the podcast. It's not it's Mickey Mouse race, Patrick. Mickey Mouse race. Talking about Mickey Mouse races, UCI points are changing and we're now giving UCI points for Mickey Mouse sports Patrick. We've already had this discussion. I think a year ago when the initial idea is kept popping up. I think the Belgian dude at the UCI, I forgot his name, but the whole point
is basically that track mounted by cross country, faracle, cycle cross and potentially gravel, if my memory serves me right, will be giving UCI points to road cyclists who have results in the higher end of those sports in the races there. So I don't like the base concept of giving road cycling UCI points for things you achieve outside of road cycling. That concept makes no sense in my head. To me, it looks like the UCI is trying to use the fact that road cycling is popular and trying to funnel an audience to those secondary disciplines by basically forcing them to watch where they want to see where the UCI points comes from. Exactly. The UCI owns these events. If your biggest event is the UCI road world championships, that's where you make your revenue
mostly per year. Then you have these other events, track events which maybe they're not nearly as commercially as popular, you've got some cyclical cross events as well, world champs. What do you want to do? You can use the popularity of the big road riders and try to subsidize those events in a way by putting UCI points. So then, yeah, if you're, I don't know, I'm not sure what teams behavior this will actually change. Like, it's got lots of riders. Lowest action barry, right? Yeah. Are these going to send action barry to a track event because there's UCI points there, it may happen because he wants to do it and he was going to, and he already does it like a lot of young riders do. It may happen. It's good for his development. He does it anyway. Other top teams with the top riders, are they going to make decisions based on this? Isn't it just that you're going to have like the,
this is the relegation teams is whose behavior will be changed. So what will happen is riders who are not really road cyclists will start getting decent road contracts. And then because, and then if they can add 250, 300, but UCI points, that's nothing for a UA. You don't get care at 300 UCI points. Like an example that pops in my head is, goffiters will likely be more leaning on having Benjamin to my go-to track events if they're in the relegation zone. Is my life fault process? A lot of it turned out to be the CX. Yeah. Maybe a lot of it to an IOTs. Maybe, um, like obviously it's going to help the like so, uh, one that pool at, uh, add, I was going to call it say Phoenix Premier Tech. Alpers Premier Tech. Sorry. Yeah, they're not even in the relegation zone. Yeah. Like they're going to make him do CX for commercial reasons and because he likes it or not. I, I just think I don't like the idea of just the base idea
of giving road cycling points for things that are not road cycling. It's, it's crazy. It's crazy enough that the UCI ranking is based on points from international events, well, championships, national events. It's already that's you're not even right up here, trade team. That's all, that's already crazy enough. And then add to the fact that the UCI ranking for World Tour teams, your, your, your rope elite points count. So your point, your 2.1 UCI points count. It should, the UCI ranking should, for a World Tour team should obviously be just points scored in World Tour races. Simple. That's what, that's what it should be. And now you're adding points from another two other sports, three other sports. Like imagine in football, if, I'm trying to think of an analogy. Yeah, but just to add on top,
add to to complete your fault process there, you're not saying that World Tour points should only come from World Tour races for World Tour teams. You're also adding on top of that. There should be a different point system for the teams under that. And there should be a relegation system where the bottom two World Tour teams drop automatically at the top two pro teams go up automatically. And there's no fighting between so to say no. Quotan called playoffs. Yeah, we can have a playoff, but to Vanito classic. But it should be, I thought of the analogy now. Imagine Premier League teams, their Premier League table points were affected by whether they're, their player played in a futsal tournament. In the off season. That's what it is. It's really what it is. A futsal tournament. If Max for stubborn does a local go-karting event. Yes. What are we doing?
It's such a dumb idea. Like, I'll be honest, it's not the, I don't really care. I don't really care. I bug. What's the name? What's the name of the Belgian guy? Is it von der Naubele? I'm not completely sure. But every time this Belgian UCI person comes forward in like HLN and like Belgian media within idea, it's always the very stupidest idea I've ever seen. Every single time. So I'm not surprised we get these stupid UCI rule implementations. Yeah, but if it means they get strongest, strongest startless, so why is it stupid for the UCI to do it? Well, it's just the concept of giving road points for non-road sports is insane. You're taking away the value of the ranking by doing that in my opinion. I know. And they've already made the rankings better than what it was two years ago. They've changed. And if you want me to watch CX, makes CX better. More interesting. I'm not going to watch it. I just, I will not watch it. Tibo NICE did not need another incentive
to avoid doing it road season. Now you've given him more ammunition. So, yeah, this is all about Tibo NICE. Yes, yeah. But yeah, you get 175 points. I mean, fourth at the World Champs, who came third in the World Champs cycle cross this year? Brother, how would I know? How do you find this information? Where is it? I don't know. Is there like a PCC or a drop champion? Oh, Del Grosse. So Del Grosse, let me see how many, I'm trying to now see how many UCI points he'd get. So he got second and he's on road, wall 25 points. So then they would have added 250. So he would have an extra 50 points. UCI points. I think for Albuson, it's a big subsidy actually. So it's short track mountain bike and not cross country, right? Exio is short track, right?
No, XCO is cross country mountain bike. What is XC seed in? That's short track, I think. But because CC is south of that cross country. Luke says XC is short. Yeah, XC is short track. The name makes no sense. XCC short track. Because I have Albuson has single gaze. I'm not sure if he's on the road team anymore, but like he won, he wins that whole time. And my question now is as well, is the same implementation being put into the women's? UCI ranking. Yeah, because I think it's more likely to see changes there for smaller teams as well. Because I feel like we already have women's cycling. What's the UCI will carry to me? What's the UCI will carry? UCI World Cup is so Siner Cross has World Cup races. A list of World Cup races that lead to the World Cup and then you say I don't have no clue. I don't think it's like a billion of them.
My guess is like 1211. What? Are you serious? You could end up with like the seventh best look at this. You get 50 UCI points for seventh in a UCI World Cup, which has a right in a UCI World Cup Cypher Cross or XCO race. It's 29. No, it's not. It's different. It's 14 this year. You can have some guy just on your road roster, who's literally not a road cyclist, literally not a dozen at all, and they score easy. 800 UCI points. The only good thing I see coming out of this is other handbush. His contract value goes up to two million. Why would Red Bull Borough Hansen grow a care about UCI points from this? Yeah, but if they want to keep it, then they got to think about what other teams will pay to man now. I guess if it to imagine UAE lost the UCI, they'd be lose the UCI number one ranking
to Borough. Because it's a good brushies and that does really well in the mountain bike. If this ends up impacting the ranking so significantly, how was the relegation teams not for this? I mean, if I was on the relegation teams, the first thing I do, I'd be offering like 70 grand contracts to like the seventh, eighth best guys and then, yeah, but is the 200 points for the first position in each individual World Cup race? Or the World Cup ranking? Because if it's just the World Cup ranking, then it's irrelevant. You know, I don't know. Anyway, I guess we'll learn more along the way. We're out of the world. Why is this? I don't even know. Luke says, remember the rider has to be in the top 20 of the team.
They will be. If you just play, they will be from, do they also have to be top 20 from the road? No, just top 20 in total. So you get counted before you look at where your position is in GC. You know, I wouldn't end the team in terms of points. Exactly. So if you score 500 from these other events, you will be in the top 20 of any relegation team. You'll be in the top 10. Yeah. It has to be, you have to have to be top 20 from the road to qualify. That would be insane. You just have, I'm saying it's not like that. You're telling me, right? We're Henry Hobbs, Ash and Barry Brennan, and just get into full track program. And Vismic can get 3000 extra UCI. Yes, I'm saying that. It's a trade team. It's a trade team doing road events.
Respect the sanctity of the road calendar. That's what I'm saying. Not just the road calendar, but the road sport. Yes. Yes. Where the, the, the Vulging is that a word? We're divulging the value diluting diluting close close. I got close to the word there. We're diluting the value of road cycling by. How can I explain if you want to score a whole way, if you want to score 75 UCI points, you have to go to West Flanders on a rainy fucking Wednesday in March. And you're going to ride on a cement slab, slash cobbles, and risk the three-year threat of death in a sprint at Ron Devon Lindbergh, which I know is not in West Flanders. So that's how you get your 75 UCI points back in my day. Not toodling around some gravel event in the sun, in Benadol. So what we're doing. So it does say at the bottom of this summary thingy,
teams can't earn points from more than 16 riders in individual disciplines. What does that mean? Does that mean that you can only earn from 16 riders in road cycling and then the rest that none. There's no way like there's a cap of four. Is it mean there's a cap of four riders who's points count from the alternative events. So you can't just make your team. Covertis, team is 10 road cyclists and 20 track gravel and mountain bike cyclists. I don't see the, I don't understand what you mean with four. I only see the number 16. So your top 20 and of your top 20 only four can be from the alternative events. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know what the sentence is. I remember the relegation. I mean, I actually don't. I'm going to go team UCI on this. What? No, I'm actually in the UCI corner here. You've been shooting on this idea for the last 20 minutes. I disagree with you idea.
I disagree with it. It's completely rational for why wouldn't the UCI do this. And this is like when the relegation is going to be a little bit more difficult. I'm going to go team UCI on this. What? No, I'm actually in the UCI corner here. You've been shooting on this idea for the last 20 minutes. This is like when the relegation thing came in. If the team just don't want to say we're not doing this or this isn't a great system or work with a better or reduce the number of points and the ARG and the race organises the road organises. If you're a road organiser, you should be concerned because your races in February, if you're a February or January, you have a race. Well, the best riders are more incentivised to go either rise to do other events or in October when there's gravel events. After some of this and gravel events, if you're a race organiser, you a road organiser, you usually go, oh, this might dilute my start list.
If they don't want to fight it, then that's on them. This is like a relegation came in. Everyone pretended they pretended it didn't exist. The team pretended it didn't exist. Well, and also didn't research in heaven, didn't know how it worked at all. Sorry, these are the rules now. I get that. I see that vibe. I get equally frustrated by the fact that maybe it's controversial, but I don't think riders talk loudly enough about safety issues to themselves in this sport. Yeah, probably not. If you're a race who does, if your Brennan does, if you're a laytow, see this, you're like, oh, my contract negotiations looking good. So for the riders, doing these all some riders, the some riders. The minority of riders, this is better. He increases their value. But yeah, that will see what happens with that.
But before we get to the European chance preview on the transfers, we're off to Paris this weekend, actually. And it's one of those trips where my phone's essential. I drive over the border, go into three different countries in one day. Andora's got its own telecommunications system. And so my SIM card doesn't normally work in other countries. And I do restaurant bookings, metro directions. I've got my little Navigope pass. I don't actually know if you need data to have your Navigope pass work. Anyway, congrats to French. Congrats to Parisian metro for developing a Navigope pass like 25 years after the oyster card. But the last thing you want to do is worry about roaming charges, finding a local SIM. That's where sali comes in. Sali is an e-SIMP service from the creators of NordVPN. With affordable data plans in more than 200 destinations, it's really simple. Download the app, choose a plan and install the e-SIMP before you travel, then connect when you arrive. It means no queuing for a SIM at the airport,
no swapping physical SIM cards, no surprise running bill when you get home. If you travel regularly, there's sali ultra, with perks like airport lounge access, fast track services, and advanced online security. You also earn sali credits when you buy an e-SIMP plan, and they can be used towards your next ones. The more you travel, the more value you can get back. If you've got a trip coming up, download the sali app. So you can use the e-SIM. Don't worry about this. Annoying physical little SIM cards anymore. I've even got the, like the, you know, the stabby thing here. What are you talking about? To press your door open with your SIM. You don't want these anymore. But before you lose these, I would have... Okay. I'll throw it, by the way, for podcasts, I'll just hand it dramatically through it. Use the code LRCP, it check out the 15% off your e-SIMP plan. Okay, transfers. Big women's transfers announced. Yes. So I want to talk about the official ones first, Patrick,
starting off with Little Trek, who just announced the transfers of Kashani Viyadoma coming from Canyon Shram. Alini Sierra from Movistar, Ali Walliston from FDJ Suis, Julia Kopetski from SD Works Pro Time, and already a mid-season transfer for a call from Blanca Vash from SD Works Pro Time. And I was a bit confused by the press release around the Blanca Vash one, because I swear it said from SD Works standpoints that the relationship didn't turn out the way they expected. Those are my own words for how I read the quote, which she's been with the team so long. She's wanted to the front stage last year. Like, what do you mean the relationship did not turn the way you expected? I think it was a pretty good partnership. You don't know what's going on in the background. Bollow, I said through first, so I just sorry tweeted on.
Do you see our points ranking? He's in favor of it. So that means we're definitely on the right side of that issue. The... If he's thinking he got, he got copied, is relegated. Yeah, but Benjamin Domain, he's like... Yeah. Every time Cedric fuzzers tweets, I'm not sure whether he's sarcastic or not. I can't tell. I can't see you doing the clapping hands. I'm like... Is he doing the sarcastic clap or is he doing the... Yeah, cool clap. Actually, now I don't know whether he's... Now I'm confused. Yeah. Let's try to focus here, Patrick. So Cedric fuzzers tweeted what? So this is the former like boss of the COVID team. He's the boss when they got relegated. I think he's sarcastic because wasn't there the story that he would like send like laughing emojis in group chats?
I just remember every single tweet. Like this tweet, for example, says... Like, this tweet for example says... Mr. Break in the Twitter France, he'd go in the whole of team group chat with like laughing emojis. Like, which is great. To quote the exact tweet here, it says... Very good news for writers and teams. Exclamation mark, exclamation mark, exclamation mark. Well done. Ad UCI cycling, thumbs up emoji, clap emoji, hashtag cycling, hashtag ranking, Patrick's dying laughing at the moment, by the way. I just think... It's so fun. Imagine... To the front of your team, this is like a 20-pack way. You just go in the whole of team group chat with crying laughing emojis. As you're being relegated. Like watch. That environment, I sure love.
All my days. Oh, so yeah, now I don't know if he thinks it's good or bad. Maybe he's with us, right? Like, I'm trying to scroll through his Twitter right now. And... Why do I only see the... The laughing sarcastic emojis whenever I see a Voss error tweet? Because he tweets way more than I thought he does. No, no, he's back. He's back here. Interesting. I don't... I think you're right. I think he's being sarcastic. All right, we'll wear team letters on this one. On July 28th, RMC Sports tweeted a bellaton figure proposed to switch to six-watt as per team to counter UAE team Emirates dominance. Typically, I think six-watt as per team is better for the entertainment of the sport to begin with. Not to counter UAE specifically. I think it's more fun when there's less control in races.
I think that's been proven time and time again. Key quote, tweet, sit-end, does laughing emoji. Oh, sorry. Crying laughing emoji, crying laughing emoji, crying laughing emoji, hashtag no comment. That is so good. That is so good. What is... What does that mean? That's too good. Alrighty. Yeah, on a sedering Cobalt. Is it a money thing? We're not even talking about sedering Cobalt. It's not like Blanca Vash. Oh, yeah. Look, I literally read the same thing with her. Oh, I think that's money. I think you've gone the floor to keep her. You think that's just money? I think that's just money. No, with Vash, I can see it. Hasn't she stagnated? But she wanted to it a front stage, so... It was shady all the time. Two years ago. Oh, good to know. I don't know. I think it's just good that she leaves the team and that that they depart and that there's different environments.
I think that's my take on that transfer. She just turned 25. She was looking like she was going to step up to be a top 20 rider in the world, top 30 class, you know, overall rider in the world. You know, it's one stage in the Tour de France, one lots of one of Giro stage and then 25, 26. She's just 26. She's barely raised. I don't know if she's been injured. In Binders, she was competitive and then it's not been good. She's not raised since May. So there was something up and always it was in mid-season transfer. Correct. How's that allowed? You were so busy laughing. I was sorry, I was going to miss my entire intro to this transfer. I miss it, so I just saw her tweet and I completely lost my head. I just remind me of that call for this season. Headline transfer. What do you think of Ganyan losing? Niviadoma? I think that was impossible to keep financially. Yeah, they lost the sponsors on the crypto pulled out because of issues this year.
So they've all the same. Yeah, they obviously lost money there and she's going to command a big salary as she should. She nearly won the Tour de France for a second time. It makes sense and also for Trek. Well, who is the GC leader? Yeah. And Nivhishar Black is not consistent enough at the highest level to depend on her as your GC leader. So I think gosh, I look at this entire transfer season for Trek and I see greatness. Niviadoma is their new GC body that you can depend on at least for the time being. Yep. Walliston is a sprinting option which if I recall they had lost because Couponin had left and Balsam was still present of course, but they I was missing that secondary first-yeary punch for the sprints and Blanca. Vaj is also a versatile sprinty type if you look at well-tested ages for example. Julia Kopetski still super young can grow hashone some level in the past so I don't have an
issue with that transfer reader. Sierra, I actually don't remember what Sierra was done in the last year to be honest. Not too much. She was better in she didn't race in 2025. Why is that really? She ever kid? Probably injuries. He was really good in 2024 I remember. Yeah for sure. Patrick's doing a life-life Google AI over usage. Yes, she had maternity leave. In like 2022 she was winning World Tour races. She was 16 World Champs. So Sierra was top top rider. Top 10 rebate this year. Exactly. So Fisher blacks like a top five rider in the grand tours. Great climber but she misses it in the TTs and some of the classic stages. So like if you don't want to put up the best climb performance of all time at this time.
Yeah. So the new Eidoma is just she's a GC figurehead and she's going to have great support from Fisher Black and you don't want everything to be on Balsamost and now you've got Varsha in smaller groups to sprint at Wallston in the you know you can split them across the calendar. You don't want to send Balsamost at a TDU every time so you've got Wallston she can do Australia. And then you can only still in the team by the way I don't know why I invented that she left. Yeah. But either way we're looking at a team with a vision again like yeah with Hongren we saw a future for the team but there's no like current person that I'm looking at this person will definitely top five the Tour de France fun. That's never a certainty but when if you're at Oma you've got that feeling you know that every tour she goes through that she's competitive even for the victory and this end so I think their next season's team looks a lot stronger than in 2026. They're losing Felicity Wilson-Haffenden to Phoenix which was a bit surprising because she's talented but it's very time trial focused right?
Yeah she's not so good in the road stages. Which I don't have an issue with a time trial focused writer to be honest but um yeah Phoenix is her destination and I don't know I don't associate Phoenix then Alpacin for that matter with time trials as much as I do. Let's find your rich Edward Jones. Member S A PC. Little Trek is that a bias because of the writers that are on the team not being
TT focused? I think they see her as a classic writer. I think they want to convert her into a classic writer and get that TT power over into performance in these races and just do more of those minor calendar races where you see her power and you think okay and I know it's a flat yeah like let me find a classic. I'm trying to look true. She'd be what? Eggmond cycling classic. Yeah but she doesn't she didn't perform in those type of races this year though. Yeah it's hard to know because we're she yeah but that's I mean they're thinking yeah but she's got the power from the TT and can Alps and Turner into a classic writer. Yeah or they just want to a high level TT writer which maybe they're expecting a team time trial in the next three years Patrick. There is one in the two of France next year. Oh yeah you're right in London. So that could be it. But yeah I think Trek have done a fantastic transfer window they've a lot of really really top
writers onto SD works where the same story was with Cobal the S. Benji said it was more money she comes over from EF education only to SD works. SD works were in need of a second climber. They really were limited to just Vunderbredson this year and they also see. A couple of us do two yeah she's excited. She's like a Sepcus. She's got two purely climbing. And so they wanted to like Cobal's an all rounder she can give you something in liage she can attack as well so you have they can be tactically really like really unpredictable you have Cobal and Vunderbredson in the last eight let's say with no other writers having teammates you can attack with Cobal attack with Vunderbredson. So I think that works. Illini Yansen very very good Dutch writer from Volkovessels. Barbiere is a lead out the Vibers coming from picnic and then Axel Dubot provoked from EF education early she's quite good in a couple of races. LBL top 10 at LBL if I recall
correctly yeah but I want to add on top of that SD works we just spoke about the the UCI point changes they sound like what four or five writers that have a gravel history in the last in the last three years I don't know where the rarol staying necessarily but it's definitely wasn't wasn't hobbling also like a mountain biker if I recall yes so we're that's like the ultimate multidisciplinary team that can benefit from this rules set. Oh yeah she's good yeah Dubot provoked good in gravel. I don't I don't know enough about gravel to know it or I don't think a race like track as a UCI event. No no the world champs or European contentile champs I guess that's covered yeah that's where you see our gravel you know there is a UCI gravel world series
that was last year. I know there is but I just don't know which races are part of it. It's very confusing that system. Yeah. I don't know what you're doing. Did I have the gravel spirit though Patrick? I watched parry tour. Give parry tour a thousand UCI points for the winner. Okay yeah then you have a gravel good gravel race. I like I like parry tour. FDJ Suez have signed under Grossman Tyson Porier so they've gone for the two of the best juniors the best French junior and Grossman's probably the best overall junior she's also a multidisciplinary talent Swiss writer who's a mountain bike rider she dominates in the junior mountain bike so you saw the come up of Celia Jerry so fast I'm not sure this cohort is the Jerry Ferguson Cladnivar like that was a mythical junior cohort like crazy level I'm not sure the this cohort so that good but if you just keep signing by far the best juniors then in three to four years you will have very good riders and
maybe earlier in the case of Celia Jerry they also bring in them Van Enple that was a surprising one the Dutch rider who was formerly on Viz Malisa bike women's team she obviously a cycle across star she stopped in 2025 and hasn't raced this year but she's officially actually only FDJ Suez team as of 17 September two weeks ago. I think that's a I think that's a good thing she if fire Cole left the sport with with I think mental health issues and now to see her back joining the sport again I I hope to see yeah her having fun on the bike is step one you know because I feel like some riders sometimes take like the year out of their career and some might not have the opportunity to return back. Van Enple was of that caliber of a rider that she was likely to receive that opportunity on a comeback I I adore seeing that but about Grossmondo I'm a weirder in saying that she
gives me if I try and look for a men's equivalent Albert Phillips in vibes in terms of multiple multidisciplinaryness that's not a word they'll take it. Yeah she seems that way like she wins every mountain bike event by like minutes she's the strongest in the road races the few she does but tactically not the best so far. We see that sometimes with riders that are so dominant that yeah their tactic or quote unquote racer IQ isn't developed as much as riders that have to place smart to win it in the first place and have to learn to win by by tactics in in many races so but that is something that we'll come with experience so I don't really have an issue with that this is only. Yeah so I'm interested to see what what happens there maybe FTJ Suez one and more of a focus on cycle cross with Van Enple but I think they're in a position FTJ Suez you know
that they can use up their signings their free spots on these young talents because the team so stacked they're not in need of extra experienced on the stakes to win more races really they win everything and like what he is a strong talent as well I think she won a given all Citani but also a bunch of other race where she was really strong and now I I fully agree with your take that their teams at a point where it's kind of like men's UAT members where they can use their last couple of spots every year now to to find new talent and give that that said it also is a sign of the women's world tour not being financially ready yet to have separate development teams for riders like Grossman and even Poirier for riders that young if those were men's cyclists we would most likely see them on an FTJ Suez death team for a year or a year and a half especially Poirier
because she's like 17 right now for our goal correctly yeah and they're not like Jerry level yeah so I I think it's fine I think it's perfectly fine to use a roster spot for that is just that hopefully in let's say in five years time I'd love to see it have the Jetsu is death in this D-Werig's death team that kind of on and probably what happened or do you think that will be the similar death to other pro teams like we've seen in men's cycling where then sport vlather in this appear is now because yeah pork or vessels funding issue but also because there's spot in development world is less important due to the implementation of the development team so like a Volker vessels might become less valuable even though for last ten years they've been a cornerstone in in women's development teams I think that will happen and the thing is the women's budgets and the money's just getting bigger if you just keep going up and it keeps getting eyeballs and the races have more visibility more money then it makes sense
okay let's commit 350 grand to a women's D-Vo team because if we can park the next demi-volving there and have to control the same logic that applies to men's teams once you've got them in like to Catherine once the most important signing they ever did was full success to the junior was he on the junior team they stole him right no was that Gregor was he was on the defty with the junior team so the most important sign they said we have a spot for you on our U19 team and once he's in the structure you know riders stay in the structure or any he's now their best rider ever Gregor was stolen from yeah he was he changed what year though trying to look through it I'm very sure Gregor was on the but this Gregor was in 2023 run the Gregor
run the Gregor in 2021 was on the Azure Zell he was on the the U19 the junior team yeah we are getting old Patrick especially you holy fuck I am but that was the mythical 2022 FDJ D-Vo team Lenny Martinez Gregor was your money perenni penway pithy stan Watson yeah but even 2023 like Matys Grissell Spariffel takes us busy all that's the destiny and yours yeah Chamberlain despite the near the shite near was on the catholic yeah on the Azure Dezerre sit coin U19 team in 2023 well big should know let him go but the and doll I don't remember where do I know doll from others tomorrow to or something brick boy the um or a juridurur del Amelia so that was that was a car was really good that was really good the juridur
del Amelia is this weekend one my favorite races they do repetitions of the sun Luca climb beautiful climb through the archers very steep two case ten percent it's no mount kutha bit'll have to do and we had d'altoro winning last year uh swepigature and vingigard went for a gather attacked him in the 24 tour to france stage two Kevin vukola one but it's sabotaged by the European championships or maybe the European championships sabotaged by jirajamele gets depends how you want to look at it they're both on the same weekend they both have the same parkour more less it's like a five to six minute steep climb which is you know shame but in terms of Amelia I've said the parkour same for the women's uh women's is usually pretty good race they both on the same day women's is very early in the day we got no start list it's on saturday all i've got is pelanzaare carusa fancelo pidcock fancelos also on the euro start list so i don't think he's going to be an Amelia as he hit cock pun where's fancelo going next year
we don't know yeah rumours were jaco from benson okay he has a thousand uci points and he's done him but he's done him the proper way yeah he's gone to every little uh 2.1 race abruzor checktor to that pro slow vina for example yeah hungry turkina turkina turkina high none and in every single one of those races top five ngc but fancelo is proper good rider like he's only 26 still he was very talented new 23s and he also got results okay yes fifth in high nine but top ten in torike milano torino that's against the pidcox and the the rogletches of the world Slovenia fourth that's behind three two of the france pelanzaare and lip of its one and two and toscan is is pelanzaare scaroni martina is it serious um so yeah i think i think he's a very good
rider and he got he deserves if he does to step up to world two and next year and that's what you just said about about the place that's the destination in my head like but they have him in scaroni yes but you they have there's strength in those races as being able to send one of them to every single one of those races do you imagine fancelo caroni um portuato shampoo nice he's he's not on the list next year yeah gjermo tomasilva scaroni scalco enoc and bro nico broyard nico broyard bajoli and their fancelo that's the best team in cycling it's your dream team that's right that is my dream team to center terraced elére bay two days before cadalunia and to watch the one two on a youtube stream that is my dream yeah

specialty identity or availability and you can book a therapy session in minutes and begin in as little as two days not the national forty eight day average see if you could pay as a little as zero dollars for therapy in seconds at grow therapy dot com slash start now that's grow therapy dot com slash start now grow therapy dot com slash start now availability and coverage vary by state and insurance plan anyway it's hard to judge which four riders on the stall is but they got this wrong this right on the side of the fiber yeah uh dad said women's race is also supposed to be a large stream this year as in there was no live footage in previous years but this year they're supposedly should be so I am looking forward to dad I I'm gonna guess that I would just we know sprouts not doing the euro so they put sprout on the start list oh um are we gonna have a guess
off who's I'm trying who's the best not on European rider and the women it's the best not European rider I'm gonna pick the first place non-European in the women's world championships him look or pinar is my pick she speaks french though but that's what's that mean people from Quebec allowed to do European champs are Australian people allowed to do European champs because we're in Eurovision and we're in Eurovision that's irrelevant we said this before I'm not a bit I'm promising you it's not a bit okay I could not tell you whether GB are allowed to do euro champs or not my fucking god battery of course they are are you sure they haven't done it some previous you see it are you sure yes so European championships is for the continent of Europe
so why aren't they racing it then the choice a federation choice oh yeah that's convenient for you isn't it I'm seeing it they're not on they're not there but you do you think I want my text money to go to the British team going to the European championships Britain hasn't Britain hasn't done euro champs they can race it no they can't when was it they can physically race it ah yeah they race they're off to Brexit they did it in 23 okay by the way can I just say you win on this one so British government is talking about like reversing Brexit etc or I've seen some news articles if Brexit is reversed I'm going to be one of the only people on this fucking planet who paid 15 000 euros in visa costs to move from Europe to the UK can I get a refund or yeah no way they're going to give you a refund I don't think so either
oh I shouldn't laugh that's really bad hey there's more things in the world I would I would still be I would turn up like in family guy with stewie goes to bride I waste my money you're right this is possible just for a three or two for a five year period you had to pay ah sorry Benji yeah European championships is the Europa continent European union is a select amount of countries from the European continent and a little little cuddle from can I can I can canada canada canada what what's that I really think I really think Quebec were right a superlative European champs if they go for the entire European so uh speaking of which it starts into lubrication and finishes in centured 196 kilometers long it is you know not as difficult
as the world championships road race the men's it's only 2500 meters of elevation gain the first 90 k's of flats at first two hours of flat and then yes we have five repetitions of the Mozajanka climb 2.1 k's 10 and a half percent nearly it has a false summit which I always like it's placed you know nice tactics it's very steep though first 500 meters or first k's 11 and a half percent very very steep climb five minute what pure what peculiar test and yeah then bike 2.5 3 k's of false summit then a very steep descent and then on the lap there's about 10 kilometers of flat and it does finish with the it's a flat finish so really I really like to sort of park rule for a world championship race we have Remco even a pool here he was very good at European champs last year but pagatia was just one better uh Remco was 30 seconds behind Pog and Remco put
three minutes into the rest however it wasn't as hard uh I think they did the valedon third did they do the where's the root decrete what races the root decrete in you know cycling I don't know I can tell you for life of me there I saw an Instagram Reels there was a farm or a sort of farmhouse for sale on top of the root decrete my ears okay I thought it was going to be four-night extra I was going to buy it if it was part of four-night extra on classics I was like all right I can watch two races from my house I was going to buy it but the other GP Marciay's root decrete that's not in every year that is a side to buy it well I was like it's a great it's a great spot to watch a cycling race and if you recall Paul Saksass did crazy what's Piquillo on root decrete two years ago so I thought oh on a him talking about honoring his honor reading your champs I don't
know if he is I'm gonna give a few takes I love that it's a slow senior I do too yes it's one of the countries I want to go to top tree on the list most likely top three top tree and I I'm not just saying because no I could a significant amount of listeners of a podcast during the lubricant I'm not just saying it for that literally I'm the biggest cities the demographics of pod listenership it looks gorgeous it does look really nice yeah so that to decide I'm not smashing the country Slovenia my controversial take is Asian continental championships are more important to the sport of cycling than the European national championships I'll let you answer first and then I'll explain why but that's that's nothing against Slovenia that's more the nature of the European championships road race yes yeah like for a lot of these riders it's sort of and I don't know it's not an afterthought I think it's a nice jersey but no
I hear what's your take so for first of all that's that's where I join you if if the European Union flag is blue with yellow stars on oh yes I am but the European flag I don't I don't even know what the European flag is so to say so wider yellow stars like it's the European Union shirt on the jersey that's question number one this might be my inability to read geopolitical articles but that's that's irrelevant to my take my take is that in the Asian continental championships there's significant delta between the teams and UCI points they score in a relegation zone while in the European ones the top teams take most of the points so that's why there's a bigger impact on the UCI ranking from the Asian continental championship yeah it matters a lot more and that my that's why the European country championships is just
an underace especially because it becomes it comes after the World Champs so it's like having that when you have the World Cup football and you've got the final and then after you have the final you've got conquered country that got for it and for playing against each other for third place I don't give a fuck yeah it's like if you win the Champions League and you then do oh no conquer cafes is north central and Caribbean football I don't know but the um yeah I agree with you and like Sikes that's like no a long buddy is more important and indeed it's like a it's a chance for Remko to make good on not on not winning worlds well I think for Remko the main reason he keeps on doing it is because he wants to complete his set of Olympic roadways Olympic RTT European Roles European ITT he's not one European Roles he lost a Combrelli a Calbrelli a couple years ago in that relatively epic edition not online
so I think he wants the completion he wants his game achievements to be complete that's why he keeps on doing it okay and of course Pogache for Pogache are super important because Slovenia that's why he wants to be here that's completely understandable I want to be there it's it's nice the country but the race I'm sorry but I prefer him earlier yeah Nelia's got more history I suppose but it's still a strong start list at the European Chance Road Race Avenopal supported by Bergmust de Boreigny, Hermann's Van Chils van Wilde of a Valkyde Pestal Italy a very strong team with Van Chelyo Cristioli he also has it you know the two guys have been performing on the minor counter the two young guys I'm glad to see they're starting you know Cristioli very good Riego Pelizari Pinerelo Scaroni Uli Si Cicone so Italy team is mega strong Slovenia team also very good Liva Govacar mezghets who's retiring Moric or Mozel Roglic Tratnik Novak so yes no Pogache who would have obviously won but that is a
very strong Slovenian team with how Roglic looked at World Champs will also be motivated I'm telling you he's gonna win I'm I think Roglic can win yeah like if he haven't done that early move it's also and it's not two 70k's it's more he's 190k and he's always remember after Worlds when he would collapse in the last hour he'd gone win a million the next week often against the guys that beat him at Worlds he beat Poggy in a million a few years ago Roglic yeah I think that's a great shout actually pay to see Roglic win in Slovenia to maybe it's crap everything I've said watching Roglic in this race is my favorite activity of the entire year so scrap everything I said about the European Championship's best race of the year Roglic is gonna win it I'm gonna love it we'll see how all the muscles recovered from the of welter Netherlands have pulled back from own got her hook him Kirkhart to craft Molina Lamerazzo Vandale think they will go an early move
I use her here for Spain and I mean the Danish team Michael Murk who's talking about it being a versatile sprint and pedicine surviving I don't see it this climbs way harder than the Montreal climb I know the Montreal circuit was in the aggregate harder but this is just like five and a half minutes pure what Piquet test on and 12% the punchers gonna go I just don't see it for the Pedestan maybe I miss it but they do have great punchers in Crohn Charmick on a race I like my pick for this race to win European champs is Poe Michele in a group of 10 sprint why not I'm sorry but nah no like I would love that for like a Vanito classic prediction with San Benini but we're talking about European champs with like Remco's not a Remco's
true yeah but he's not a pancake so he's gonna want the race to be a little bit harder for so yeah I would find it funny but no I'm seeking with Pomeco well why do I say Remco he's not here at Emilia right no I picked Europeans I picked Europeans Europeans is Pomeco yes okay how was Pomeco gonna win Emilia yeah he's gonna survive the climb there's a plough you on top where they stop mean to us Remco should just attack with two laps to go on the climb like in San Sebastian style like more important doggy Patrick in half an hour I'm gonna walk to the local feature and eat my first Belgian feature in a year I am craving that food right now but can't to decide who's Remilia big then so Thomas Pitcock of course that makes sense fuck off we've got about
yeah already went through him yeah I'm losing it I'm losing it so let's go uh women's Europeans is only two laps of the Clire so it looks like we all if you want us you know all of you are looking at that profile and I know what you're thinking it's identical to the uh Corks drew to it and under women's profile of this year we're Sarah Van Dammel it is identical by the way it's right it's all it's like for like and uh they will see racing on the first climb and then maybe it comes back together and for the second climb we have uh not as strong a start list I would say is the men's although the Netherlands is not announced but in the in Spain we have Oztolaza Paula Blasi, France has Berta, Kerbal, uh Mousi, Chisquibon which is good we've got a roll in not starting? Is Poland not starting? I think they will be yeah because Ziga is injured so Slovenia don't have her unfortunately
we've got a Longibogini confirmed with a strong Italian team person, Gaspirini, Borghezi my pick is Nomi Ruch because you know who you know she won? If both I'm feeling Longibogini from the start list we have which is very limited you know what right Ruch won? She won the Corks through stage where she was 4v1 against UA yeah I hate to give it to you but Nomi Ruch her season is fucking insane but it was by the way we'll finish on the UCI calendar is mostly released but there's a few races missing for 2027 to some new races like the Canaryus race on the Canary Islands is before even the Tour d'Ananda so the season opens there but I have I was somewhat alarmed not to see Tour of Oman in there I think it's just an administrative holdup
because also Valencia, Alagav, a lot of Ruta del Sol, a lot of the top row February races were not listed but I will keep you informed on the status of Tour of Oman as soon as I know anything does this also mean UCI points change changing that the Tour de France UCI points will count in the World Cup ranking of Cyclocross that's 3d Patrick come on yeah so you're saying Bingo or sources mayonnaise are gonna bid for Tadei Pogatia to get his points from the Tour de France on their team imagine no no Tadei Pogatia will move to the team Pogit team which writes Cyclocross races and in doing so dominate the Cyclocross world good to do so yeah it's funny it didn't want to pull things say stopping Cyclocross I don't remember I think he said it's I think he's been thought about a few years now yeah I think
he said he was gonna give it a miss the season and Pidcock yeah so all right that was our weekly show lots to get through hope you enjoyed it we'll see you with the recap of the European championships on Saturday as well as your to the media till then ciao ciao at Edward Jones we believe rich is about taking care of what gives your life meaning that's why your financial advisor personalizes your plan to help you preserve your progress and create something that lasts let's find your rich Edward Jones member SIPC we have the tech to get food delivered in 15 minutes but we all have horror stories about buying tickets the game time app gives fans the advantage get amazing tickets in just a few taps fees are included so what you see is what you pay and the game time guarantee means authentic tickets at the best price every time take the guesswork out of buying tickets to concerts sports comedy and more with game time download the game time app and create an account for $20 off your first purchase term supply
