On April 18th, the force suspect in the arson attack on four Jewish community ambulances in Golders Green just showed up in court. 18-year-old Judex Atsachi faces charges of intended damage property while being reckless about endangering lives. He confirmed his details at Westminster magistrate's court on Saturday and got remanded in custody right away. This ties back to the early morning blaze on March 23rd, outside of Synagogue, where volunteer Hatsola ambulances were set on fire, in what? Police call a suspected anti-Semitic hate crime. Counter-terrorism detectives nabbed him on April 16th after searching East London spots. Three others. 20-year-old Hamza Ikbal, 19-year-old Rehan Khan, and a 17-year-old were charged earlier with similar arson counts and are also locked up. The fire was intense, sparking explosions from gas canisters that shattered nearby flat windows and damaged the synagogue's roof and stained glass. Forty firefighters with six engines rushed in around 145 am, but luckily no one got hurt.
Prime Minister Sir Kierstarmer called a deeply shocking, stressing anti-Semitism has no place here. In response, police ramped up security with 264 extra officers, firearms teams, mounted units, and drones ahead of Passover II. Protect Jewish areas, health secretary West Streeting said that London ambulance service will replace those four torched vehicles. All four defendants head to the old Bailey next, as prosecutors remind folks to avoid anything that can mess with their fair trials. This case highlights the raw tensions bubbling up.
