Met is also making its own example device, the Muse Home Link, a small USB-C smart home bridge that lets Muse talk to devices on a local network. Nvidia is adding a 64 gigabyte version of its Spark local AI computer as memory prices keep on climbing. The new model still starts at $5,000, which is 1,000 more than the 128 gig version cost at launch.

The higher memory model is reportedly moving up to $6,950. The idea is to give developers a cheaper way to run local AI models, though cheaper is doing a lot of work here. CEO of Paramount Skydance, David Ellison, posted on his ex account that the combined Paramount and Warner Brothers Discovery company will simply be called Skydance, once the merger closes. That puts two of Hollywood's oldest studio names under the brand Ellison brought into the deal. Samsung and Google are both raising prices on some of their budget phones, which makes the whole budget label a little less useful. Samsung's Galaxy A lineup is going up anywhere between $30 and $70 depending on the model. 9 to 5 Google says Google's Pixel 10A is jumping from $4.99 to $599. The likely culprit, good ol' RAM shortage, and if memory prices do stay high.

Next year's affordable phones may start higher too. We've got a few Apple stories for you today. The company confirmed a small number of iPhone 18 Pro Max devices on AT&T can lose cellular service and get stuck unable to make calls. Apple released iOS 27.0.1 and a carrier settings update to help prevent the issue. But phones that already lost service need a hardware replacement. Interesting detail here, the US iPhone 18 Pro Max uses a Qualcomm modem, while the iPhone 18 Pro uses Apple's C2 modem and doesn't seem to be affected. Apple also says it's tightening macOS full-disk access controls because desktop AI agents make that permission much riskier. Full-disk access can let an app see files, mail, messages, and browsing history. And Apple says some developers are using it in ways users may not fully understand. Little more Apple news, the first touchscreen MacBook Pros could arrive as early as this month.

Says who you ask? On his first ever power on podcast, Bloomberg's Mark German says he expects 14 inch and 16 inch models with OLED touch screens. And that Apple is testing them with macOS 27.2. Other hints include a thinner design, M5 Pro, and M5 Max chips, and dynamic island instead of a notch. The laptops are rumored to sit somewhere above the regular MacBook Pro lineup, though it's unclear what Apple will call them. Amazon plans to spend more than $1 billion over five years in US communities where it builds and operates data centers. The new built together program includes free community college supports, job training, energy upgrades, and local project funding. And Amazon says it will stop using non-disclosure agreements with government agencies on data center projects. AWS CEO Matt Garman also warned that more than 100 proposed data center moratoriums could threaten the US lead in AI.

Finally today, 12 South launched Airfly Drive, a $40 adapter in either black or white that turns wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto into wireless connections. It uses your car's USB-A port with a USB-C adapter included and automatically reconnects after you pair your phone just the once. No app or account required and a button lets you switch between two paired phones. It works with the car's existing display and various steering wheel controls like volume or your voice assistant. It supports most cars with factory installed wired car play. That covers more than 75 makes and model years going back to 2014.
