1:00How are you doing today? I'm good. Thank you. How are you? Well, I'm very excited to share a conversation with you because I've experienced this documentary and I want to take it on tour. And the reason why is because you are the true example of what an influencer is because you lived it. You thought about it. You brought it to life. You were doing things without the internet. You were really putting the gut and the energy into the process of making lives connect. Oh, thank you. I mean, it was as you saw in the documentary, a lot of it wasn't planned. I was when the whole thing happened to me in 1966. I was as much as surprised as the rest of the world because in that era, models didn't look like me. And so when the whole thing kind of happened, I was very, very surprised. Well, you're the very reason why my mother used to tell me all the time to look like Twiggy. Just be you. Be you go out there and do you like Twiggy would do. And you were such a major part of my life, my entire journey.

2:04Oh, that's so sweet. Oh, that's lovely. Thank you. The really cool thing about the documentary is the fact that I feel like it's the Rick Nelson song went to a garden party and everybody was there. They are in this documentary. And I found that to be so fascinating and such a great way to showcase who you are. Yeah, I mean, I did say Defrost who directed it found some amazing clips of me with Sonny and Cher in the probably about 1967 and Steve McQueen's in that clip as well. And I've been lucky enough to work with me extraordinary people through my life and career. One of the most fascinating things about you is when you decided to go into having a talk show. And I found that to be very inquisitive in the way that it was almost like you became the student to learn from other people. You were always so inquisitive with other people.

3:05Well, I, I find other people's lives in their careers as I'm sure you do fascinating. Yeah. Yeah. And I do this, which is how the doc you came about, I do a podcast in England called T with Twiggy. And I have either friends or people in the business or people that I admire come on and talk to me. And I, and although it's kind of an interview, it turns into really a chat really. And I, and I find it fascinating finding out why people do things and, you know, how they got into the career they got into, which I'm sure you do. You talk to people all the time. And it's always a fascinating journey and everyone's story is different. And yet it's so in common in many different areas, especially when it comes to, you know, sharing the journey and learning to listen because you are a listener. Where did you learn that art from? I don't know.

4:06I'm a, I'm a good chatter as well. I think sometimes my husband says I chat too much sometimes. Well, let me ask you a question about your podcast only because I'm really into T. 5:07Twiggy, we are back. What is it like for you though to step back because the one thing that I've always learned about you is the fact that you seem to be a present in the now kind of person. That it's about the now and yet here's this documentary that gives us a photograph of somebody who shaped what has become our now. That's interesting. I do live in the now 100%. I think, you know, I don't really think about the 60s until I'm interviewed about it. I don't think about, I'm very proud of a lot of the stuff I've done, but I don't get up in the morning and think, oh, it was so well, you know, I don't live in the past because I think that would be sad and it wouldn't make me happy. I'm very much of a forward thinker. I love doing new projects. I'm in the middle of doing a new album with a wonderful singer-songwriter called Amy Watch, who co-wrote thinking out loud with Ed Sheeran and she's an incredibly talented

6:09young lady and we met on my podcast, funny enough, and I'm a big fan of her music. She said, well, let's get in the studio and now we're doing this album together, which I'm really excited about. So I kind of live by what I'm doing at the time really. I mean, we've just had a really lovely tour in New York and LA launching the doc you. And I've met some amazing people and we've had lovely feedback and we had a couple of really great screenings. So it's been a very happy trip and we got back late last night and I slept for 12 hours last night. Oh my God, what is that like? I need a book just on how to sleep for 12 hours. I may get three or four, but not 12. Come on. Oh my God. And that's without any alcohol or anything. I was so zonked. Oh my God. So now going into the studio to record music today, one of the things that that listeners

7:09don't understand is how I see cold it is all the time in the studio. Do you feel it differently today when you're recording music in the way of going, but where we plant this, it's going to be a warm day for somebody else. Well, you know, I, I, honestly, the album with, I'm doing with Amy, we're doing, she's, she lives in Wales, you know, which is part of the, them, and she's got a little studio within her house. Wow. So it's very relaxed. It's very, it's like, you know, I go to her house, we, I spend time with our family and her kids, and then we go into the studio and we, and she, she's the main writer. I kind of throw in little bits and pieces of ideas I've had. And then she, she's amazing. She's, you know, writes these, these wonderful songs, and then we go in and record them. So it's very relaxed. It's very laid back and, um, and nice and warm, actually.

8:11Now, went, went with the documentary, one of the things that's fascinating is that it feels like that we're all talking to the future generations. And do you see this as being a dear future reader or a dear future person in the way of saying, you don't have to live here, just know how you got here because I felt so rejuvenated after I saw this because it's like, oh my god, it's no longer about the magazines. It's no longer about the books. I actually heard her voice and I got to see her. Do you think it's a dear future reader? I hope so and I hope it speaks to a lot of young girl, you know, I think it's quite, quite a difficult time to be young at the moment. I think I was fortunate, you know, living in a period where really, you know, if you wanted to do something, if you had a go, you could try it. Most things. I've got so many friends. And then, you know, London was a big kind of explosion in the 60s of amazing people who

9:13came out, you know, it was very okay to be working class because before me in England, the models all came from kind of, you know, middle class and upper class families. They were really cool. So it opened the doors to so many people and also I think as you saw in the doc, I went into things I'd never planned to do and I was scared, I was nervous, but I kind of held my nose and jumped in and it was working with amazing people and I trusted them. And I think in a way, you've got to kind of try and follow your drawings. I think it's harder today with social media because there's so much out there and I think young people are, you know, it's tricky from the ones I talked to, but I hope they enjoy this doc. I think it might give them a kind of little kind of push into doing and believing in yourself
