She called into the show to ask the question that every young person entering the workforce is asking themselves right now. How much AI is too much? Kim and her special guest Dr Ross from ASU School of Computing have the answers next. Here's something your body never tells you somewhere in your 20s it quietly

starts making less collagen. No memo no warning. You notice it years later fine lines thinning hair nails that break and feeling a little less flexible on that morning walk. That's not getting older. That's colleges slipping away but you can support your body naturally. I'm talking about high quality collagen from native path it gives your body the building blocks it needs to support smoother looking skin stronger nails and shine your hair and some study suggests collagen supplements may even help support bone health. Alright how about Olivia in New York City. Hi there Olivia. Hey Kim thank

you so much for having me on the show. You bet you so tell us about you and what your question is for Dr Ross Majeski here. Yeah I just graduated college last year in 2025 I was studying international relations but realized that the job market was really difficult and ended up pivoting into event production and I was just wondering if you had advice for current recent garage. What would you suggest what's that fine line between leaning into AI tools and becoming too dependent on them. Oh that's such a fascinating question question. Olivia. And there's been a couple different research studies with MIT and Anthropic putting out papers about to heavy reliance on AI winds up reducing your core competency skills. So we've seen that with studies in programming as well. And so I think here you want to think about okay what job do I really want. What parts of that job can I push off to the AI because this is the thing taking a bunch of time but it's not really helping me do my job better. So if it's event planning maybe it's some of the simple tasks of

I shouldn't say simple some of the more tedious tasks because let me identify all these vendors and things to then being able to spend more time on the core planning things that people will be excited about. And I think that's really where you can think about for any job. What are the tedious things I might want to push off so I can spend more of my brain power on the exciting things that are going to make people excited about my product. I'll say I do find this with myself. I don't know if you feel this with Olivia too. Is that as I use AI I look at an email and go oh I don't need to answer that but I AI do it and I'm like oh wait it would just take me like two seconds to answer that. You know but definitely. Yeah so it's finding that fine line isn't it. Absolutely and there's fascinating research on trust calibration how much do we trust this model do we over rely under rely and all sorts of research on that topic too. So what do you see the biggest change for you Olivia as you graduate and enter this market with AI versus when you when you first started your your your education.

I think it's only gotten more challenging to land a job. You know I have a lot of friends who are still looking for jobs and I think AI is definitely impacting that job market instead of in the past companies hiring maybe three or four people to do one job they're only hiring one person and so it's really hard for entry level people right now. What's your salary expectation change when it comes to AI like when you started and you switched to the event planning did you say well this job is going to pay X amount of dollars but when you hit the real world you realize that it's a huge percentage less. Um you know I think I was just I couldn't be picky. Okay to be honest I think that's one piece of advice that I've been hearing is that even if it's not something you're interested in and I feel very grateful that I love my job now and actually I'm grateful that it kind of worked out for me and that I get to work in a vet production but I think it's it's just so difficult everyone just wants to get their foot in the door even if it's not something that they studied. Yeah which is you know necessity right. You know it's the mother of invention and you know it may

not be exactly what you want but I mean but here you have you know a young woman and struggling to find a job which a lot of people are and I can speak to that again on the industry side many of our industrial partners come back and said well you know we really want people to be trained up not at the entry level but the next level but this is always really tricky how do you get experiences by you get to the next level doing things. So there's a lot of tension here where people say well AI can do some of the entry level things but I think again we're going to see this pendulum swing back it doesn't help our recent graduates but at some point your talent pipeline is not there because you said well you know we only care about the experience people how do you get experience you have to do it.
