Alexandra Eala vs Karolina Muchova - Preview & Prediction - 2026 WTA Miami Open

0:00Hey guys and welcome back to the channel. We have Alex Ayala versus Carolina Mojhova for round four of the Miami Open Masters. Should be a very interesting matchup. They have never played each other before and we've got two exciting styles with Alex Ayala's aggressive baseline style looking to the early versus Carolina Mojhova's. Roger Federer's style is what a lot of players on tour have described Carolina Mojhova's play style as I think that's not too inaccurate. She likes to be aggressive, but also plays that backhand slice a lot, likes to approach to the net transition and also play it the net. That is a big part of her game. Has a drop shots as well, has the finesse, has those little intricate shots and things that she can do as well. So definitely has a wide range of things she can do off a racket. She's a little bit of a wizard. Before we do get into the detail though, and my prediction, do remember to that like button,

Okay, so we've got Carolina Mojhova who was at one point in her career, a career high of eight in the world, versus Alex Ayala who's currently at her career high of 29. Mojhova's currently ranked 14 in the world and she's 29 years of age, Ayala only 20. As I mentioned, they never played each other before, but who they've played so far in this tournament has been Mojhova who ended up beating Osorio in three sets and then she beat Katie Bolter in straight sets. For Ayala, she beat Sigmarin three sets and the Lynette in straight sets. So pretty similar, I would say level of opponents and also similar scorelines. And for Mojhova, I think she had a pretty big bat against Osorio and Osorio plays a bit differently. I'll say to Ayala, she's more of a scrappy type player like to try and induce errors.

2:02Bolter is a bit more aggressive, but she got again dispatched by Mojhova in straight sets. For Ayala, she beat Sigmarin and Sigmarin is again, I wouldn't say she's very similar to Mojhova and Lynette is not either. So I think both players will be coming up against the player who stylistically is what they haven't faced this tournament. So it will be an interesting one to witness, I have to say. We know that Ayala, her game is really based on being very aggressive off the ground taking the ball early in the rallies or taking the ball early on return. She likes to be very aggressive on returns. She knows that her first serve is still a working progress. Yes, it's got better, but she's still not winning probably as many free points she'd like and she always knows that her first serve could come under a lot of pressure. So it's important that she also does give herself as many opportunities as possible to break

3:03because that's an important part of her game right now. And it probably will continue to you because she's a very good return and generally I think a quite a natural return at that on both wings as well. For Mojhova, her serve, return I'm except but different, she's a very good, well she's got a very good first serve Mojhova can win free points off that serve. And on return I think she's a pretty solid but what I will say is that sometimes she does look like she's a little awkward when she's tucked up and that's probably an interesting serve at Ayala to utilize the body set to try and make all good Mojhova. If you give her space to be able to hit through then it becomes very difficult because she's so good and has so much talent. So you need to make things awkward for her whether that's moving her around so she's feeling awkward or whether that's just positionally making sure she's not in the right position to execute her game plan.

4:05The backhand slice is an interesting one because she can go line or cross climb and she'll go line more than she normally would in this one because Ayala's a lefty of course. So she'll be trying to slice down the line to the backhand or two handed backhand of Ayala. I think it'll be interesting to see when Mojhova does come to the net and how Ayala deals with it. Is she able to pass her with some angles or is it going to be too much pressure for her to deal with and will she end up giving Mojhova some easy or potentially easy volleys to put away. I think this game or this match even could be very much dependent on a few factors. One, how much is Mojhova in terms of first serves, how many is she going to put into play? Because most likely she's going to put in high quality

5:06first serves. She may 65% against KT ball torch is big. 64% against or sorry, those are very solid numbers. If she's able to replicate those against Ayala, it becomes quite difficult because it gives Ayala really only 35% let's say of second serve points to deal with and be very aggressive off of the first serve. It's going to be difficult for her to be very aggressive off that first serve. She'll just have to do what she can to try and at least neutralize the point, get it maybe deep down the middle to start the point. But if I was Ayala, I'd be trying to go high and heavy into Mojhova backhand because yes, she can hit the two hand, but it's still, in my opinion, not good enough to play for a whole match, for example. She's always going to try and look to use the backhand side when she can. And I think she feels that it's a weapon and it's definitely the stronger of the two options that she has on that backhand side. So if I was Ayala, I'd be looking to go into that as well

6:06when she gets an opportunity and trying, you type the drop shots, you type the slices, while shorter slices, try and mix it up because yes, Mojhova will mix up a lot. We know that, but for Ayala, it's important she does that because she tests Mojhova's, not just movement, but also had just general, yeah, just a general athleticism, I think, because she is a supremely talented player Mojhova, but I wouldn't put her in the bracket of elite movers. I think sometimes she is really stretching more than some of the elite players on tour, but she's a damn good player with a lot of quality. And Ayala is going to have to, at times it's not going to be on her racket, she's just going to have to be patient. And then actually, when she gets opportunities, she needs to take them because Mojhova, I think, is not going to make it easy for Ayala whatsoever. In terms of prediction, I'm going to go with,

7:11it's a tough one because Mojhova, I mean, she won the Qatar Open, not too long ago. In the wild, she lost an Oskova, sorry, Mojhova, yes, she made, in the wild, sorry, even, she lost too, she should be on take a course in straight sets, before that she won the Qatar Open. So, being in some good players as well, Christian Valent over, Polish cover, Kanskaya, Sakri and Emboku. Yeah, I think Ayala, I'm going to go Ayala in, I don't know, Ayala Mojhova is a tough one. She's playing pretty well. I wouldn't say she's playing Ayala with a skin. Let's pick, let's go with Ayala. Ayala in three sets, I feel like, she's going next to be able to get into, or go into in this tournament. If she does, then I think she will win, but she just needs to get into that gear in my opinion.
