Alaska Mechanic Wanted for $2M Fraud | Anchorage News

Alaska mechanic Charles Yingst, wanted on $2 million in warrants, was finally caught after a high-stakes manhunt — he’d been on the run since July after ditching his ankle monitor while on house arrest for fraud and theft. Charged with four felonies and six misdemeanors for escaping custody and violating release terms, Yingst has a long criminal history dating back to 2006, including multiple accusations of swindling victims out of tens of thousands for parts that never showed up. Despite being known as a solid mechanic, prosecutors say he shows no remorse. After a multi-agency chase, he was arrested in Big Lake and is now jailed; a $100K bond and court-approved custodian are required before his arraignment next Wednesday.
