Alaska Congress Faces Calls Over Trump's Military Actions

Two months ago, President Trump ordered military actions against suspected drug boats in the Caribbean and Pacific without getting approval from Congress. Alaska's three members of Congress did not step in to challenge those moves. Shortly after, U.S. forces took action in Venezuela aimed at removing President Nicolas Maduro. Critics say this has benefited Trump and his family through Venezuelan oil sales, while American taxpayers cover the costs. Now, the President has launched a major combat operation against Iran. Again, without congressional, okay, and he's pushing for regime change there. This draws comparisons to past U.S. wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, which cost thousands of American lives and trillions of dollars. Alaska Senators Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan, along with Representative Mark Begich, face cost to uphold their constitutional roles by either. Justifying these actions, or formally declaring war, if needed.
