The slammy awards from 1996 on the eve of WrestleMania 12, hosted by Todd Pettengel, featuring an ungodly amount of awards handed out, and all I can say is we will properly contextualize the 1996 handling of the Gold Dust character by Vince McMahon and Jerry Lawler. Jerry Lawler saying that.

5:05That was Vince McMahon just acknowledging that yes, I am a little home of Obick. Did Jerry Lawler be in the wind of question? Yeah. So, if you are grabbing that clip, a lot of gems like that. Oh, there is a lot in this particular show. So we will be getting to that coming up on Thursday. And then this weekend, we will be back sometime Saturday night slash Sunday morning reviewing all out. 6:08His Fishers? So that's just named after the. So that's named after the city. Okay. Fishers. Like the Toronto Center. I feel like I've been there. Three thousand one hundred and five according to Russell Ticks. Not that far off from where they were last December. They were down five and a half percent from their last visit to Fishers. And the demand is in the back, calling out, well, that hangman and Brodito, that everything is, they are everything that's wrong with AEW today. The demand has brotherhood. They note how Swarov cannot be trusted by the new level. And then we cut to Prince Nana, who is with the Trios champions, reminding them that he brought GOA into this realm. And they go through Swarov's entire history of turning on guys with the new day or the new level. I guess my AEW subscribers and they've been going back through the catalog of Swarov angles. So they brought up GOA turning on him, the toilet paper with ricochet that resulted in him

7:10adopting scissors, the beat down of Bandito's friends using a steel chain on Brody King. And they asked, did you have any friends before we showed up? So the idea is Swarov is a terrible friend, but these guys are going out on a limb thinking they'll be the exception. Yeah. I thought it was a cute little moment here, you know, like getting an outsider's perspective on how, I mean, really ridiculous, you know, pro wrestling characters and storylines can sound when recapped in quick summation like this. And obviously the same goes for, I'm sure the new days history, you know, if like, you know, they sort of had that catch up with them. But I just find it interesting that like, you know, through the new day, we're still getting this sort of, because they're very like, yes, they're comedic, but I mean, in ring, they are not comedic at all. That's the difference. But because they kind of have that comedic tone to them, you can make these sort of jokes similar to like Captain America, you know, like opening up his book to get caught up on like everything he's missed because he's been frozen for decades, you know, like the idea

8:11that you have characters jumping in from a different universe now catching up with somebody's history that they've completely missed from like, you know, this existence. I find very fun and fascinating. And they continue to like, I think like effectively inject a good amount of levity into source character. Kofi, a few months after you lost the belt to Brock, we saw you backstage and you had a bald up fist. Was that going anywhere? That would be no, man. I just had a beast thing. It was bothering me. He looks like it was there for that. Was he not? Oh, yeah, he's right. They would have overlapped at that point. So we go to the trio's title match and we get tags in and out as the baby faces are working over con and then they get the heat on Austin Creed for a long period. He eventually hits a side Russian lead sweep, Topic on hero on to con and then takes a pounce flying over the desk by toa. And we get a doomsday device by the demand to swerve off the barricade.

9:14Creed finally tags Kofi who comes off the top misses con with this runner, whatever he was going for. Ricochet. It's a fosbury and then the GOA splash Kofi. There's a double team slam and we get a 6 30 by Ricochet onto Kofi swerves in for the save. And as they got towards the the ending couple of like five, six minutes, it really picked up here. Toa is no selling a rolling flat liner by swerve. Then Creed does one no effect. And finally they get him down after a tornado DDT and a 450 by swerve, which Ricochet breaks up with a 450. Creed then powers toa onto his shoulders for a DVD. And we get a house called a con and Kofi tries for the SOS, but needs help from swerve to take toa over and all through pile on top of toa, retaining the belts in 1750 as they will now face. Brodito and hangman on Saturday. Not this match was awesome. In fact, I think it was my match of the night.

10:16And I think the second hour main event here, I think new level in sort of R3 for 3 in delivering very strong trio matches that are worthy of I think like the AEW standard. I think they're creative and designed. They're very well executed. But especially here, I thought man, I thought G o away looked amazing, especially toa who really just, he's lost a lot of weight. And he looks like he's just really kind of unlocked a lot of new potential for his ceiling as a star. He's doing great as a tag team. I would not want to see them do anything to affect that. But to me for the first time, I got to really see the potential for him as a single star. Because I thought he looked that confident and that special in a match like this. I also think somebody like Creed continues to feel a lot more special here. Being utilized very effectively as an underdog again, somebody like a toa, you know, who again, to me really stole the show here.

11:17I would love to see somebody like a toa in the continental classic this year. Like one of those people that are not your obvious pick that are just put in there to have different matches and put a bit of a spotlight on them and doesn't have to win all their matches. Could go on like a big winning streak at the beginning and then lose. Like that would be he's kind of at that level that you would expect maybe in that tournament. On to I would love to see what Cohn would have to offer. Hangman and Brody to come out. There's fuck eyes chance and Paige congratulates them says that the Trio's belts feel important on you guys. And we feel they were important on us to their happy that Kofi and Creed are here. But they don't realize who they've gotten involved with and asks, what are you doing? Creed says he's teaming with the greatest team in pro wrestling and making those belts the most prestigious. So we're even sissy's a changed man. Brody reminds them. It's been three weeks since you guys have been here. I don't know if you should be so trustworthy. And so are asks, how many Trio's have abandoned you?

12:20Hangman mentioning the young bucks and jet speed and says two years ago in Chicago, the people saw who the really the real Hangman was and you and I are no different. So we are renewing this, uh, this old rivalry on on Saturday and that they are, uh, kindred spirits that are actually the same. Yeah, they really are. They are, they're the Batman and Joker of this universe. I mean, and just like Batman and Joker, I mean, you know, Warner Brothers will like wear that thing out several times a year until they can grab all the money they can from it. And I'm not really sick of it. I mean, I don't know how long it's been since we've had our last, our last page in sort of interaction, but I'm still interested, especially like here in this context as a Trio's battle. Um, I, I, I mean, it feels fresh, you know, fresh enough in this context. So, um, I, I thought this was a good way to maybe continue to like put the focus on their relationship as the prime sort of like interest in this particular Trio's match. Um, and when Creed says something here, like, um, you know, they're, they're trying to make

13:25these Trio's titles the top in the, in the company. I mean, you know, not that long ago, I think that would have been a very laughable statement, but it's still obviously very unlikely now, but there is way more credibility and way more star power attached to this Trio's division now than there was, um, I think ever before in this company's history. Um, and you know, this sort of, the statement sort of at least gives you the impression that Tony Kant is actually prioritizing this division right now, you know, it is. And I, they have not been able to convince me that this stipulation with Hangman is, is a positive, but at least in the short term, it's really helped this Trio's division having, like main stars involved. And if he's not going to be doing a ton of big singles matches, like the Trio's is a great option for someone like a Kenny Omega, as well, that you could, you know, if he's out of the title picture, like why not? Why not put him in whether be a tag or Trio's, like you, you could really enhance this division

14:29by, by having that. So, um, this is probably the most intrigue they built up for these belts during their existence. Renee is with Osprey, Speedball and Francesco Akira, who is just, uh, he's now just, he's part of the family. He's just, he's coming to fishers. Bill says he saw Akira getting ambushed on collision and Bailey came to help him. So he wants Bailey to join the United Empire. And, uh, you know, this is, uh, this is, this is bigger than Canada potentially joining the EU. Okay. This is, uh, look at, look at Mark Carney here, Speedball, Mark Carney working with the British and we have got our new United Empire member here. We're part of the Commonwealth. We've got, we've got, cancon here on the left side and then England and Italy on the right. I mean, just a whole international flavor here in fishers, Indiana and, uh, Speedball,

15:31he just immediately joins and he got United Empire gear within like 90 minutes. They asked him if he has anything green and maybe he just carries like all his gear in every color with him at all times, you know, just have the perfect shade of green. He's not just a toothpaste factory. He's also a merchandise factory. Oh, very nice. Pumped it out in an hour. No problem. So this seems to be at least like the first official introduction of like an AEW guy into Will Ospreys AEW version of the United Empire. So that, it's, at least seems to be happening here officially. And I think, I think it's a great addition. I mean, number one, because the matches, being able to see more Speedball in Will Ospreay, tag matches, trio smatches, what have you. I, it's a very exciting prospect. I also think it's great for Speedball because I think it elevates him. On to a more sort of like relevant, you know, level, you know, just being now essentially number two in this company, not unlike Kevin Knight's role in the Don Callis family, which I mean, at this point kind of feels like a very natural rivalry for Will Ospreay

16:33to go back to now that you have Kevin Knight and Mike Bailey on the opposing sides. But having Speedball here, it just, it offers him like a lot of reason to, you know, enter more multi person matches. And again, all of these future pairings of Ospreay and, in Speedball, I think will probably be outstanding as tonight's was. And Callum Newman responded to this clip, cool. The group is a joke again. Can't wait to be asked to lock in and make it good again. Wow. Damn. Shot's fired at Speedball. Not joke. Maybe this is playing off the press conference where Will Ospreay said like what's been the biggest thing you've learned? He's like no more Twitter. So he's he's not reading any of this. The Callum Newman knows he's caught free reign on X to say what do you get from Chesco Akira? That's the biggest question. Yeah. I mean, he didn't get to do a swearing bit here. So Ospreay said he wasn't paying the fine. No, but several others are probably might be paid to find for himself later on. He needed to be growing, I'm sure.

So the inner bitch, yeah, being analyzed. Yeah, that's it. I mean, not much to say about it. Good delivery. Sure. That's it. Yeah. John Moxley does an Xavier eliminator about. They mentioned Xavier's grandmother recently passed away. Moxley Boots. Yeah, which I guess Tony consents of flowers for in Dez actually posted about that. Okay. I see. There's a big boot by Moxley and he sends them to the floor and then into the steps and

20:44Xavier starts firing these punches and Moxley just goes to him. Why don't you fire the fuck up? Get some live coaching right in the moment here. So that's what you get during picture and picture. Xavier stops a gotch pile driver sends Moxley to the floor. There's a handspring off the ropes into a Pele and then a big larry from Moxley running these by Xavier and then the kick out by Moxley into the choke and he turns Xavier away from the rope getting the tap at nine minutes and 53 seconds. In terms of Moxley TV matches, this one did not hit for me. I just felt like there was whatever spark that you usually get out of some of these eliminators with Moxley, it was not here. I did not feel they gelled very well in this one. This is where I thought there was a very good opener that we got with the trios and this kind of brought things down for me. I don't disagree. That's unusual for Moxley Manch.

21:45I feel like I had very high expectations for Dez Ben Xavier here. I mean, I'm curious how much truth there was in Moxley's words versus just like him speaking in character because there was a certain intensity that was lacked. I felt like a certain sort of level of performance that I feel like Xavier is capable of that. It was not a memorable performance. It was not a Dez Ben Xavier match and it wasn't really much of a John Moxley match. It felt like two awkward ends putting together a 10 minute match and a rare miss of a John Moxley match on. Not bad, but not the level that I think you want. No, obviously the promo stuff with Will was more important, but for your go home show with Moxley, this was very underwhelming. Renee interviews Darby and Stephen Borden and in comes Adam Copeland who praises both of them and says though that I heard you guys on Saturday state that you want a challenge

22:48for the tag titles. Well I have the tag titles. It's like, okay, these guys are in a number one contenders match. It's kind of assumed that they are going to go for the tag titles if they win their number one contenders match, but because they verbalized this, this has raised the eye of Adam Copeland. Yes. Okay. Just so we're all following. Yes. He said you're reaching for legends now and he looks aboard and you should ask your dad what that means. And Darby, you climb Mount Everest. Well, me and Cage are like two Mount Everest and you can almost just see the body language that I think Darby is so sick of the Mount Everest references in every promo segment. He has to be a part of like it just it was almost like just like, okay, dude, like you know, that was the response. And he warned Copeland warns them to be careful what they wished for. So it is, you know, it's like Copeland certainly leaning more heel now at this point, which

23:50is fine. So at the end of this, Darby says we accept, which I mean, answer the confused in a little bit. I mean, you know, this did make it feel like they just accepted a tag team title challenge when I mean, they were really just saying like more in general terms. We accept the challenge of trying to climb these, the tube edge in Christian mountains. It's what he was what he actually meant. Yeah. But yeah, certainly I also picked up on like the more aggressive and less supportive, you know, cope promo here. And I do feel like they're at least flirting with the idea that he is now maybe, you know, leaning more towards Christians side of the force rather than, you know, his pure good. Do you think this was a complete red herring of a segment? Yes, very possibly. Yeah, that too. Because yeah, this, this completely assumes that they're leaving, you know, this TLC match was champions when I, I wouldn't see them tipping their hand this, this much. No.

24:51The young box FTR and Mount Everest come out for our final promo segment to promote the ladder match. And Stokely basically says we don't want to be here. Let's just wrap this shit up. We just don't want to get fined by our greatest boss, Evertoni. Matt Jackson says you've got nothing to say or contribute to. It all adds up. You guys are the Dudley boys. It's almost like now the challenge is make him talk about us on his show. It was like, we'll give you the 3D at all in to ignore. And now this line that I found it more comical than anything. I guess I'm not so like up on the latest Dudley boys gossip. Like what, like what is this just like due to bully ray being anti A W or something? Like is he even anti W? You can't be anti W when you can't talk about A W.

25:54So that, that was my assessment of like I don't, I don't even know what the content is on busted open radio other than it sounds like there's no A W coverage at all. So what is it? What did like the bucks mean when they said what you have nothing to say. Therefore you are the Dudley boys. Like I think it was just I think it was just like a shot of Bubba. I think that's that's all I took it as. Okay. I don't think why would you rub D Vaughan into that as well? What did what a D Vaughan do? I mean, you know what? It's that's that's where you find himself. I mean, all right. Took a scre maybe. Matt, well, they continue. They want to become both both FTR and box want to become four time champions. And Nick says we're not getting any younger. This might be our last chance to win the belts. Cage says it will be your last opportunity. You guys want to be four time champions. We're one time champions and it's staying that way because we're generational and FTR. I've already done your moms. So I'm looking forward to meeting the bucks mother this weekend.

26:56And then Copeland states that between him and Christian, they've had over 40 ladder matches and we are legends and we are still standing. Matt says all that is true. If the year was 1999 when we all know the last time you jumped off something high, you were crippled for a year. That was because there was a special. Oh my. There's a special swore of that nobody understood. It was all supposed to happen. Anyway, is any any any reason to bring a Malachi black promo impression back? It's very disappointed that you decided to recap a whole Malachi black interview on Ruan to smack down. I would have made myself available. You know what? I always should have called you just for that. So this is it for Copeland. He's how dare you bring up one of my many injuries and a brawl breaks out. The bucks super kick the Everest and then security comes out and it's just security getting murdered through a table.

27:57Nick comes off a ladder. There's a conchared out of this poor guy. They just security gets murdered and that's how this ends. A conchared always a pretty big move. You know, I bet we'll never see the security guard again. I think this was it from I think he died. He was. He was a casualty of war. But again, like I mean, it's their version of the point, isn't it? You know, so I mean here like Copeland willingly doing it. Like again, maybe vintage, you know, they show you that this is a more aggressive cop than you can see. Yes. So this is the the CL team match on Saturday. They can't even get away with that. It seems probably not. It's just the latter match that might have some tables and ladders involved as well. The segment was the segment. I think people are it's the match that is selling you on this. I do feel I think they really could do like the box get their win here. And I think if you were to do the box against Darby and stay and Stephen Borden, I mean, that's the recreation basically of Stings retirement match.

29:00You could build that up to be, you know, if you're going with this Stephen Borden blue chip prospect, I mean, he should get the title shot. Like it's if you're going this direction, I don't know if it would have been my choice to go this way of him just going over everybody, but they've kind of made that decision. You know, they are, yeah, it's a lot, you know, to what a guy into it. And again, they must be incredibly confident in his abilities, but it also offers like, again, an interesting story to tell a guy who is fresh and really vulnerable, I think, like in the way that Sting was and seeing how he would do in the deep end. So yeah. Renee interviews Willow. She mentioned she's two and two with Mercedes, Monet and wants to settle that score, but first she has to get past Tecla and brings up beating her at redemption the last time they fought. Tomaso, Champa and Jake Doyle. So these are just a lot of matches where it's the guy who has a big match on the pay review facing someone that he's not going to win, but kind of doing competitive matches. That was a lot of the matchmaking on this show.

30:02So Champa, he's favoring his neck and shoulder. So they're teasing that maybe he was hurt here and he can go into the pay-per-view injured. It's a psychodriller off the turnbuckle and then does the rainmaker pose, gives the middle finger to Doyle and then Champa does an O'Cotta style dropkick. The knee pad comes out, caught with a sit-up power bomb and then he blocks a sideways, sidewalk slam from Doyle, lands with the knee, running the strike to win in 908. And then Champa says that he and O'Cotta lived on different islands in 2018 and this was a dream match and no longer do people have to ask what if because now they live on the same island and he calls O'Cotta to come out now. So O'Cotta comes out, he says you are not getting the rainmaker tonight. I'm so sorry. But he will get what he wants on Saturday and he shows, he will show Champa that you are

31:03not on my level. Bitch. So Champa says O'Cotta is getting a version of the psycho killer that no one's ever seen and he's going to expose O'Cotta. Bitch. Hmm. Hmm. So unlike in this version of Champa, I mean, I guess very quietly after the Jericho feud, you know, he's just kind of turned baby face at least for this program and it's working out really well because, you know, he's developed a bit of a healish edge as part of like this first chapter of his AW run and he's been able to retain that now, you know, maybe more positioned as a sort of fan friendly or at least like doing the same sort of thing, playing the same sort of gimmick but now doing it in a way that makes us just like intentionally like him and it's working out really well. It's kind of reminding you of like, you know, some of the best versions of Tomas O'Cotta but NXT. I also love the fact that like he didn't let O'Cotta get the last word in with the whole bitch thing, which to me, I think really, certainly running its course, you know, it's still get the reaction, but I mean, this many years into O'Cotta's run, I feel like he can

32:04evolve the promo a little bit, take a few more chances, but instead of having Champa at least like get the last word in, I thought Champa said it really good and I don't know like, you know, the reference to 2018, man, that's a long time ago. I know. And when he brought that up, I was like, my gosh, like we're going way back. Yeah, but I don't know if this is a dream match. People were talking about in 20. I don't think so either, but I mean, the point is, okay, he was at the top of NXT. They were at the top of the league. And they're in their companies. It's not a far-fetched statement to compare to. You know, when you talk about the baby face turn, I think we got, like we saw the baby face turn with Davy. I think that was the baby face turn for Champa. Oh, with the Davy's interview? Yeah. Yeah, maybe. Yeah, made him a, yeah. I'm looking forward to this match. I'm really hoping they just go all out in this match. Like you get the sense like, this is, yeah, pardon the pun. You get the sense, this is, this was probably, feels like a big match for Champa. And I don't doubt they're going to get time on the show.

33:05So hopefully this is, I could see this one really standing out on. I will certainly say in every one of Tomasop Champa's appearances so far in AEW, the man has looked driven. He's looked inspired to do something special every time. Like he's still very much in a place right now where you, you can tell that he, he still wants to prove something, right? And, and he's, I'm sure looking at this as like a major opportunity in, for himself, a dream match, I'm sure. I don't doubt he's probably in a very similar mindset as Kevin Steen at the moment of knowing that like, you know, I'm not getting any younger. I've had some, some big injuries and you don't know how many more of these that you will get. And I think he's here in AEW for, probably knows he's not probably going to go another like eight years. The same distance from 2018. But you know, for the next three, I think he's going to, you know, just try and put, put together some like big matches that anytime he's in doubt, he's going to think about planking and realize, I mean, a much better position. Yeah.

She we wish her well. So there's a die by high end under the middle rope. Persephone takes over. It's a cabrata and she's getting frustrated. There was a rough looking back suplex by high end. One of the old didn't get all of that one from the commentators. Spear by high end for a two and then she misses a running the end to the corner and Persephone gets on top hooks the legs grabbing the bottom rope as she sneaks past high end in eight minutes and 51 seconds. But don't don't think this is the end because we are going to get a big showdown next week

37:14when Britt Baker wrestles in Pittsburgh with Persephone against high end, Gracie and Thunder Hosa. Oh, very nice. Yeah. Well, no heat for this one. No. And there's simply not enough recognition for high end. Understandably, this was to be my world spot. And high end stepping in to replace her. Of course, it makes a lot of sense. But you're going to get reactions like this for a singles match for high end who they've done very little groundwork to really establish and kind of make people care about. So in Persephone as well is not a star yet to be able to maybe make up for that. But that said, I felt like both put in strong in a match like this. And I think Persephone shows the ability of somebody who will be a star, but simply just isn't there yet. And I don't know she's going to get there with this Britt Baker combo because I just I still think they're not so much a chemistry. And I still fail to understand what exactly Britt's motivations are for pairing with Persephone. Of course, this could all be in service of a future term.

38:17I understand. But I need maybe a little bit more like understanding about why they got together and what exactly they is is like why why this is going on, you know, can you like if I were to pitch you this way, Britt Baker has been gone for almost two years. We're bringing her back at the biggest show of the year. Probably going to get a bigger response when she comes back. It's been a long enough time. So what do we have coming up though? Well, we've got this rebel heart show with like her on screen best friend and then we're going to Pittsburgh. He'll make some sense. I understand. I don't I don't know. I imagine I look forward to the interview. You know, the whatever discussion at some point that might reveal exactly what was in the works. I can't imagine this is the first choice for the first option for Britt Baker, you know, it's just been a baffling return and I can't say it's been clicking in any any way.

39:20Real Osprey and speed ball the United Empire themselves against Claudio Castanoli and Gabe Kid. So Bailey in his green, black and gold United Empire Attire, it's almost like they tip them off in advance about this initiation. Again, maybe he just carries every color in his mind. He might. So Osprey and Bailey are working in tandem. These guys were great together. I mean, Osprey is probably never going to need a you know, a tag run. But if he ever does, I would go for three months of it. As a dynamite main event, a collision main event. Yeah, like this is kind of perfect, isn't it? It's the perfect kind of thing to just put Osprey in, again, a tag on dynamite that he doesn't have to go all out and I keep stating that term over and over. But you know, serves the purpose. Claudio Yanks will off the apron as they're working over Bailey. Kid bites his foot and mocks is on commentary comparing this to a weird Japanese game show. I'm sure there was a, I mean, sure,

40:21I'm sure there was like somewhere. MXC maybe. Hot tag is made to Osprey and he hit the handspring corkscrew in Seguiri onto kid, ducks to hit and blade and then it's Osprey and Bailey going for arm bars at the same time. Claudio lifts Bailey dropping him onto Osprey to break it up and it's a European pop up onto Osprey, Bailey's in for the save and then we get the finish where Claudio goes for the giant swing and will counters the giant swing by basically crunching up into a swinging DDT and follows with a styles clash in 13 minutes and 39 seconds. And I really like that he's winning with the styles clash that it's not just an impressive near fall that he's adding it as like this can end a match. It's so simple and not enough people do it. And the styles clash has been like, it's like no one other than AJ can win matches with this thing and I'm glad that it's not a finish. Yeah, your TV should be the place

41:22where you build credibility for those secondary moves, right? And to do it on somebody like Claudio who like I think is pretty high, you know, if you're looking at like lower main eventors, slash like upper mid card, you know, to win it with. So I thought that was very strong. I thought the finish was spectacular and again, very creative and completely unexpected to go from the big swing into a swing DDT. So I thought like Bailey and Osprey looked great together as did like Claudio and Kid who again, Kid I think could totally pass as like, you know, father and quadriord. He had a kid like back in high school that he just, you know, ignored and Switzerland. I would suggest the entire Death Riders, you know, kind of have this like ball there, balled head. You know what you could call the team? Claudio's kid. Okay. All right. Yeah, you could, you could do that. Dude, it's 1240, yeah, it's very late.

42:24Yeah, we still have a whole hour to review. Osprey gets on the mic. He's grateful for the fans. At first, he's saying, I want to thank all of you for coming here because there was a time this didn't, this place didn't exist. I was like, what fishers is that? And she's talking about, hey, W, I thought he was, I was like, I think fishers has been around a lot longer than most of these people here. But anyway, he was talking about AEW and he says that AEW began with John Moxley. And he thanks John for teaching him that, for all the guidance, for being the ace and breaking me to make me the man I am today and teaching me that this belt is what it's all about. He has risked his life for it and he is here to attack for the next generation and Moxley has been dumped in the ocean with a great white shark this Saturday because now John, you're the challenger. So Moxley gets up, he enters the ring and he asks, do you feel like the champion

43:24and Gabe tries to jump Osprey, but instead gets taken out with a hidden blade, will just stands up in Moxley's face. You damn fucking right, I feel like the champion. F bomb. That's how you end your two plus hour dynamite. I'm apparently like WBD execs were there as well as Tony Constaegir on an X livestream. So I mean, maybe they got the live approval from those executives. Did Nick Wayne get the approval too? I'm not sure he had that. I'm sure they were like, okay, we'll Osprey and Nick Wayne, they get carte blanche on this show. They can say whatever they want. And that wrapped up the show. This closing segment was somewhat interesting in that like, I mean, this whole story has been, will Osprey now as champion has gained a completely brand new confidence. And now you have Moxley sort of like facing the monster that he's created. That's the story, right? And I find that somewhat unusual because usually like heading into a paper view match

44:26on the go home show, that's when you built the heat, right? That's when like you see the champion get beat down in the challenger like threatened to actually beat the champion. You didn't get that at all here. It was still like this whole thing has been about will Osprey standing tall, you know, look at me now. You can't beat me challenger. And John Moxley like kind of being unsure of himself, you know, for really the first time. So I found that to be a really fascinating hook. I'm also expecting like something big to happen at the beginning moments of this match to really kind of put Osprey on the back foot because it just feels unusual to have like a baby face champion head into the match so overly confident, you know what I mean? Or at least like overly determined, you know, I don't know. Maybe we get a blood bath. I think we will. Yeah, this will be the main event, right? Of course there'll be blood. All right, so we're gonna go to your feedback now and we go backstage Jack Perry. It's the main event. It's the main event, yes. We got Jack Perry, who says apparently Samoa Joe doesn't speak for himself.

45:27I've got to go through Shabbata and it was like, please don't like just bury this match, but he doesn't. He says, I want to be among the killers and Shabbata is one of the biggest killers. I must survive him. So that's the match we're getting on Saturday. Tailgate. The tailgate, yes. Renee brings out the brawling birds and divine dominion for tea time and Bane says that they don't deserve the tag titles. You call yourselves undefeated, but we beaten you one-on-one and we're gonna beat you within an inch of your lives and there goes the tea set and they just brawled just a nothing segment. This is pretty awful, actually. Like, it was like we had no idea for anything. It was just like, okay, we're gonna brawl at the end. It was like, did any thought go into this? So, so like this was, I think it's really stupid. Like the more I really think about it. Like this was divine dominion setting up the tea and biscuits they said. They took credit for this as a, I don't know, like a final parting treat or something. And they actually, like it's not like they just put it there.

46:28They're actually sipping tea and like eating the biscuits. Like what? And of course this is all real tea. Maybe they got like, you know, burns. No, I mean, clearly not. I mean, of course, all an excuse for them to smash each other over the heads with like the table and the tea pot and all that, but it just felt so contrived. I think like divine dominion as well, they lose their aura once they start talking because they're not nearly as developed as, as talkers as they are, maybe in ring, right? So I think the facade really does start to break down, you know, because I mean, the dress is not that great in ring. And I didn't take the promo tonight. It was very good either. I just, I thought this was just a bad second all the time. I thought it looked really rinky, think too, just the way they brought out the table. It was like they didn't even like decorate the ring or any. It was just, it was bad. It was bad. I don't even want to advocate for putting more resources into this. It's just nothing, so a lot of this like build for like the undercard was very uninspired in this final hour. Where it's just like some excuse to get them out there to, to like brawl or hit each other.

47:30And like they're not very well thought out excuses to justify these scenes. The conglomeration are in the back. This was from last Wednesday and Roderick is sick of this shit. He's not happy for bro, bro, bro, Dito and hangman. We are champions and I'm not going to be happy for them. I can't do this anymore. Yeah. So I mean, really kind of spelling out for you, like the frustration, but I mean, I don't know if I'm sensing heel turn as much now, like now that they're spilling it out. So obviously it kind of takes like the staying away from like an actual turn. Right. So I, yeah, I wonder, I don't know what this is. Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight against the Outrunners. Uh, Dalton Castle came out and then you just walk to the back. So thanks for coming Dalton. Um, turbo floored. It sent into the steps as they attack truth Magnum and just beat on him for a long portion. The highlight being Tony being worried that Magnum was bleeding before he realized, no, it's just a bad haircut and it's his hair. Floyd gets to tag. They fire up son of a bitch elbow and then it's Fletcher with the running boot,

48:33brainbuster, UFO splash and when you know it, the guys in the number one contenders match win in nine minutes and 11 seconds against the Outrunners. So I mean, just a big downgrade in terms of just like, um, if whether or you could even buy it all like or at least just like, interesting in the relevance of the match and, but I will say I thought the Outrunners, like their ability to get any reaction in this third hour of the show against guys way above them in rank. I do think like shows you how strong they are of an act as on the on the end of card. You know, I like, I think they're great, but this was not even an attempt to make you think that this was anything important. Renee got into the ring to interview Fletcher and Knight. They took the microphone away from them and then Darby's music play, but they appear in the rafters and they state that, um, that they're about to get burned when they run into the fire at all out, which might be a literal threat. I think that's the next month.

49:34Maybe Stephen Borden takes a flaming table. That's going to endure himself to, uh, all his online fans. He says that, um, Fletcher says he didn't like Kevin Knight at first, but now they're a well oiled machine or a family. Um, and then, uh, sorry, that was all before Darby's music plays RPG vice, are ready to jump them, but instead they're in the rafters and we just get a promo that it's not going to be an upset when Stephen Borden wins in his third match. Third match on TV. Third match on TV. Yeah, his dark matches don't count. The main intrigue for me is seeing how Borden handles like the high pressures of pay per view, you know, yeah, outcomes Chris Jericho. At this point, I was like, we are absolutely getting an overrun because Jericho comes out, calls out Nick Wayne. And Nick Wayne starts talking about all the women that are swiping right on him and how Jericho stabs everyone in the back. Jericho isn't made for him. Uh, he said, Jesus Christ.

50:37It's okay, dude. I'm so lost. Um, like Wayne just gets into this. It was very long and he tries to psych out Nick Wayne. Nick was not very good on the mic here. Jericho says he compares the two that we both started out young. We traveled the world. We were in the best of the super juniors. I was once an egotistical son of a bitch and he asks him, do you know who Nick Bokwinkel is? And says, of course, I know who Nick Bokwinkel is. And they he starts a douchebag chant towards Nick and Jericho explains how he was on a show with Nick Bokwinkel. When he was 21 in Winnipeg and asked him for advice after the match and he was told you work too fast and do too many moves. And my thought was what the hell does he know? And Jericho thought he knew it all at 21, but asks himself, what would it, what would I, my career been? If I listened to it as his advice instead of ignoring it. And he says, well, Nick, then can you imagine Jericho who maybe worked slower and didn't do too many, do too many moves like in

51:41the VCW, like in the cruiseway division? Oh, that's it's always like the advice will typically come from guys that are like they, it's, it's well meaning advice because you don't want to see guys like kill themselves before they can make money. But for so many, it's like, they're not over at this point. It's like, they're here for a reason. And it's like, you've got to do, it's almost like that is the paying your dues part is like, we've got to do this. Now a lot of guys, it's like they're going to continue because now the, the quotient is so high, but like you're right. Jericho should not have been slowing down in 1991 in Winnipeg at that point. Like there was a reason like he gets booked in Mexico in his early 20s or in for auto vans or for Japan. But he never actually like told Nick Wayne any advice here. He just said, well, this is advice I ignored, but he didn't really give him any advice. I guess he was saying like, what if I listened to the veteran telling me the advice at that point?

52:43Would I have been more successful? But what's he telling Nick? Not telling Nick to listen to the veteran. Okay. So you've got to let's move. I don't tell you what it is. Do less moves. He's, so the necklace comes up and Nick is like, it was never about the damn necklace. Like, okay, someone's very online and he's furious that he lost to Jericho. It never should have happened and never will again. He's like, I was wrestling at 12. Fucking any, you have never seen a guy so catch himself. What a disaster. He says, I might have to change myself to beat you, Chris. So he challenges him to grand slam France in two weeks. Which is a Tuesday night show, by the way, folks, and they shake on it. Jericho pulls them in for this dramatic face to face and the crowd starts chanting kiss and says, you're going to get the shit kicked out of you in Paris.

53:46I did not think Nick was very good in the segment at all. And frankly, I was a little biased because it was like 1038. And this was just going on and on. And I knew we had two more matches and I realized like, we're going way past 11 at this point. So even if this started, you know, the show at eight o'clock, I feel like I would have a similar reaction to you. I think I give, I try to remind myself that this is a 21 year old, you know, doing all of this. And at 21, I couldn't, I couldn't even step on a stage like this. I can't imagine that. So I imagine how like this is very difficult. And I think he's the double edged sword of like you're learning. Like, yeah, this is like Stephen Borden is like, it's like, you are in the deep end here and you are going to be judged in these segments. Like a Nick Wayne, he should look back on this in five years and think that was god awful. Yeah, yeah. But I mean, at this point, like seen this weekly, it's getting pretty tough to watch Nick Wayne in these scenes that demand a lot more of him as an actor

54:49because I think he's just, he's just not there. He's like, he looks like somebody who hasn't done this for that long. And these sort of reps, trying to gain this level of acting experience, I almost feel guilty seeing it on TV because ideally, this would take place in private somewhere else or at least like on a smaller stage in front of fewer people, or he wouldn't be under this sort of scrutiny on a stage. Again, somebody like Chris Jericho. I can't say Jericho was that great in this either. Like, I mean, the whole thing about the Nick Boko, a cool thing. I think it like inspired some interest, but I don't, I thought it was like a loose connection at best. And then the very, like you got a lot of Jericho corniness in this one, but douchebag chant, um, which he didn't really try to make a chant, but like this, I guess it was a buddy that stopped when he heard the crowd got into it. Like the crowd did start chanting. It was a courted crowd. I mean, it was right to stop and let them chant it. Crowd loves their courtingness. But I also thought this like very cliched handshake pulling thing at the end was, was, was, I didn't think it was very good. And it also went really long. So it was very late to do this segment. But anyway, so that's coming up in two weeks in France.

So I have a new partner and income Thunder Rosa, who will see her and they challenge her and brick Baker for Pittsburgh next week. Sky blue against Queen Aminata. We had Julia Hart and Mina Sherra Kawa in the corners and Mercedes Monet on commentary. Sherra Kawa and Blue argue on the floor. Blue hit a suplex to Aminata on the steps. I mean, these two worked really hard and they by the end of it,

57:59like I was really impressed that they got the crowd into this because this was a pretty checked out crowd in this third hour, but they kind of overcame this by the end. There's a step up knee against the rope by blue. Tornado gets blocked and then there's a sky blue drills her with this knee strike. The code blue gets stopped and Aminata hits her with the Queens crown and the hip attack to win. Overall, I thought this was this certainly overdelivered for what was a really flat third hour for me. Again, like, you know, struggled in that it wasn't very high in star power. And it was very deep into the show. It was a very tough spot for them and very I'll say, like, I think Aminata strikes, like they sound great and they alone get a great reaction. I know that she does the whole slapping thing, but it's very effective. And as a finish, it's like that running kick she does into the ropes is a very convincing finish. So I hope that continues to like really just drive that aspect about her being, you know, like kind of her calling card.

59:00Because since she's been back, I do think like, I don't think they built up enough momentum for her, you know, as somebody to really, like, feel special. Although I don't even think we're supposed to like think of her as like a future opponent for Monet in this, right? Like we're not because Monet was strictly here to be there for the Teclah Willow interaction at the end. Yeah, this was all for the run-ins after where Hart and Mina get involved. Teclah runs down, Willow runs down and it's Willow standing tall with Queen Aminata as Teclah bails with the triangle of madness and Monet in the backdrop here on the table who as the champion. Again, they really, you know, have kind of come up with the loosest of reasons for why these closing scenes can happen, right? It's fine. In the end, it effectively does its job reminding you that Teclah and Willow are facing each other on Saturday with the winner facing Monet. Yeah, that's fine.

1:00:01But I don't know, like not much reason, otherwise for the scene to take place. Baker and Persephone refer to Hyin and Thunder Rosa as dumb for challenging them in Britsburg. And Baker says, Thunder Rosa, you've been around me for five, six years. I think we got to wrap this up so she accepts. And Persephone just adds, I'm going to have an open challenge at the pay-per-view for the TBS title, but neither Hyin, Thunder Rosa or Maya World can challenge for it. So it's anyone but her. These two have no chemistry. Like there is none. And somehow in this whole comeback too, Baker's personality has also just disappeared here. Like I thought Persephone came off, more charismatic than Brit Baker here. I don't know. This is just, it should be Brit Baker in this open challenge. I know that won't happen, but they just need to break these two up.

1:01:03There's been no tease of that, right? And I don't know how that would work, but that would be an interesting little twist. Maybe she continues to do the open challenge, but I agree with you. I think like, I think it's really a handicap Persephone, who I think was doing really well on her own, right, in these sort of promos. Now she just kind of feels like she has to piggyback off of like the Brit Baker style of promo. And it just feels like a very unnatural fit, really, for the both of them. All right, what you all came for, Ace Austin against Pack to close out the show. We have juice Robinson out with the whistle. And Taz says, I've never seen a guy at ringside with a whistle before. Ah, of course. He does the squats with pack on his shoulders. Then does him again as Debbie Downer, Taz warns. He do too many of those. That's how you get a knee replacement. And then I swear to God, at 11.15 pm, they go to break, which they promises our last break of the night. I was like, this is insane.

1:02:04The guillotine leg drop by Ace Austin, rebound German, and then packets the belly to belly into the corner and a black arrow to win. Wouldn't you know it? And he applies the brutalizer, prompting Jay White to run down. The dogs and death riders enter, followed by the Bang Bang gang. He puts the brutalizer back on Austin. So in Drade arrived. So we have all the participants from both the national title match and the the tailgate brawl. All of them in the ring as Drade comes from the crowd to attack pack and they head into the crowd and off to Chicago, ending this show at 11.25 pm with ex caliber telling us to stay tuned because coming up next is the countdown show. I was like, you could not hear me laugh loud enough at the idea of another half hour. That was it. We were done. And I don't think you ever want to like leave people. Listen, this is just you and I. Okay, very jaded professional wrestling critics who have to do this, right? I don't know maybe the average person watching this loved this three and a half hour experience.

1:03:07I don't know. But strictly speaking for you and I, I don't think you ever want somebody to leave one of your shows feeling like you like having this sort of reaction. The bell just rang in schools over. Like most of the time I finished dynamite and I'm like, I'm amped up to talk about it. I'm amped up to watch more of it because I thought like I had such a quality two-hour sort of thoughtful thoughtfully put together experience. This, I agree with you like even just the first two hours was not really among the better dynamics we've been seeing. Very good. Trio's title match like the tag match was fine with Osprey and Bailey. But like for a go-home show, it did not inspire me all that much to build up this paper view. It's not like to me it was not the level of quality of a regular dynamite and then you tacked on collision that I just found like it to me was like well below AEW standards for like it's weekly television. Third hour I thought was a very, very low effort.

1:04:08Sting, you know, um addition of collision kind of put together like I mean again. It's well and good to like just have the matches but I also look towards like maybe creative reasons to how to like to heighten interest for for these matches on paper view. And I don't think you really had any of it. You had a you had T time. A terrible T time segment with them. I thought like a Jericho Nickway segment that was there to promote a match in two weeks but I thought that was bad. I didn't think any of the matches were really all that inspired and like they all ended with I think very predictable closing scenes with no other again nothing really to elevate your interest. You know when these matches coming up they were just there to remind you hey this match is happening. You know, um so I thought the third hour was like frankly pretty bad. Yeah I just thought the function of a go home show it's um I thought this was one of the weaker ones for AEW at least in recent memory. So there you have it our review of a Dino Lision from Fisher's Indiana.
