About this episode

Alana Joy Newton, at 9, was traumatized by her body when a simple tonsillectomy turned into a near death experience after eating a french fry. She always felt her body was somewhat disconnected from itself. Simple accidents would turn catastrophic, that's because she has a rare illness called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. She will share how she learned to reconnect with herself despite her diagnosis and regain control of her body. Building resilience starts with self and we don't change from the conditions of criticism, we change from conditions of compassion.
