About this episode
What does it really take to survive and thrive in the music industry for more than 30 years? On this episode of The Vibe Podcast with Kelly Cardenas, music industry veteran Aimee Newman (aka Dancemusicdiva) shares behind-the-scenes stories from dance music, hip-hop, DJ culture, artist management, music promotion, and working with legendary names like Todd Terry, Crazy Legs, DJ Skribble, Jungle Brothers, Mr. V, and more.
This conversation is for every creative, entrepreneur, DJ, artist, leader, and dreamer who’s ever wondered what happens behind the curtain of the entertainment business. Aimee didn’t just witness music history… she helped build it.
From working in a record store to promoting global dance music legends… from managing artists and labels to living in Brazil pursuing DJ culture full-time… Aimee’s story is a masterclass in resilience, reinvention, relationships, and staying authentic in an industry that constantly changes.
And honestly? What hit me most during this conversation wasn’t just the names or accomplishments. It was her heart for people. Her ability to see talent before the world catches on. That’s a gift.
