About this episode
“This is Hota Kotby from Joy 101 with Hota Kotby, whether you're calling the wise women in your life, video calling your girlfriends across the country, or checking in on someone who always knows how to make you smile, staying connected matters.”From the transcript
This episode walks through setting one up — picking a short window later in the day, naming a worry in a few words the moment it shows up early, and reviewing the list later with one simple question: is there something to actually do about this right now, or isn't there. It's a practical follow-up you can use on its own, whether or not you've heard today's main episode.
By the end, you'll have a plan for the next time your mind reaches for something that hasn't happened yet.

Today on May we talked about why worry isn't actually preparation. It's a stand-in for action that shows up when there's nothing yet to act on. Here's the practical version. A worry window.
Pick a specific 10 to 15 minutes later in your day. Not right before bed. And decide that's your worry window starting today. The rest of the day when a worry shows up you're not going to fight it. You're going to write it down in just a few words. On your phone, on a sticky note, wherever's handy, and tell it honestly, I've got you covered later. Then go back to what you were doing. When your worry window arrives, open the list. For each item ask one question. Is there something I can actually do about this right now? If yes, decide the one next step and take it or schedule it. If no, let it wait because now you're choosing that, not avoiding it. Close the window on purpose when you're done. Close the notebook, put the phone down, stand up. So your mind gets a clear signal that worry time is over for today. Give it a week. Most people notice the day time worry doesn't disappear completely, but it stops barging in
uninvited quite so often because it finally has somewhere reliable to go. If worry is constant, overwhelming, or interferes with most days, talk to someone qualified to help. This is a tool for ordinary daily worry, not a replacement for real support when you need more than that. Until next time, I'm Clyde Lee Dennis and this has been 7 Good Minutes. Extra.
