Bobby, Eddie and Brandon tackle some of music’s biggest questions. Who wins in a showdown between Garth Brooks and George Strait? Which hugely successful artists do you respect but just don’t understand the appeal of? And what artist’s biggest hit gives people the WRONG idea of how good they really are? And More! Bobby then dives into some of the most questionable songs to ever reach No. 1, and makes his case for why they belong on the list. From novelty hits and songs that haven’t aged well to a few tracks he actually admits are still pretty catchy; Bobby breaks down what worked, what didn’t, and how some of these songs became massive hits in the first place. He also shares the surprising stories behind a few of them and counts down all the way to his pick for the worst No. 1 song of all time. Yeah, so me, Eddie, Brandon, all musicians have different levels. Extreme different levels for the record. I know like nine chords.

Brandon is an accomplished songwriter. And I'm in the middle. Yeah. I'm the cream of the Oreo. So we're going to do a few existential music questions. And I can actually answer the question first. Okay. You guys time to think about it. Yeah, because I don't even know what you mean by all you understand existential word. I mean, I do. I've heard it before. Yeah. But it's like, is that like thinking big about it? Like, yeah. Okay. Like getting deep into it. Yeah. Okay. All right. We can go very easy with question number one. Okay. And we can do this as a group exercise. So if we did Garth Brooks versus George trade, 10 songs each one against the other, who would win? Now, I actually haven't mapped out. Would you like to hear the verses? I would like to hear them. Okay. So it's one versus one. And we'll give a point each side. And all I did was say, give me the 10 biggest Garth and the 10 biggest George. And it has created the battles. I love it.

Number one from George straight, Amarillo by morning from Garth Brooks, the dance. Eddie, it was a close fight. It's like Rocky, where you would just want to do a draw. But I'm going to go Amarillo by morning. Okay. So the Brandon. Oh, man, this is tough. They're all going to be tough for the record. Yeah. I just I'm just like, I'll let you guys know now they're all going to be so tough. Okay. It's going to be so tough. The dance. I'm going to dance to wow. Okay. So G1, G9. Oh, no, my system was flawed. Garth, the George G, the two G's. All right. Garth one. All right. Next up, all my exes, 11 Texas. That's so good. Friends and low places. That's so good. I'll go first. So I'm not always a tiebreaker. Yeah. Switch up. I'm going to go all my exes, 11 Texas. Wow. I didn't think you would do that. You friends and low places. All my exes all day. Yeah. And down, down, down. Why am I different than you two? Well, you tell us. I don't know. Like this is crazy.

Is this personal? Is are we doing personal? Yeah. No personal. You're personal. I mean, we're two white guys. That's what is it? Maybe it's race divided. All right. One to one. Next up. George straight. Check. Yes or no. Love it. Garth Brooks. Unanswered prayers. Brandon, you'll go first this time. Check. Yes or no. Unanswered prayers. Unanswered prayers right here. No. No. We're a team. Okay. Garth to George one. Garth that Thunder rolls. George straight, the chair. That's easy. Well, excuse me. I'm familiar with the song. Okay. I you're first, not my favorite. George straight song. So give me Thunder rolls. Wow. Brandon, the chair. I feel like you guys are doing just amazing. I feel like you guys are doing it just to be different. I'm not. I promise you. You love the chair. I love them both.

The chair's probably top three George straight song for me. You know that wasn't his chair after all, right? Don't spoil it, man. We have no spoil role here. You know he was lying. Next up, number five. By the way, it's two to two. George straight, I cross my heart. I cross. I cross from the movie Pure Country. Garth Brooks, if tomorrow never comes. I'm gonna go Garth Brooks, if tomorrow never comes. If tomorrow never comes. If tomorrow never comes. That is my number one Garth Brooks song. Yeah, and I cross my heart's great, but don't even come close. I mean, it's dancing in the same ballpark. It's not really, man. Okay, fair enough. But if tomorrow never comes, is my favorite Garth song. Yeah. Ocean front property from George straight. Yeah. I got some. What, what are you saying? What? Oh, yeah, yeah, my friend who didn't speak English. He would say, ah, play, I got some. I got some. Because maybe I'm, maybe my brother would play guitar. He'd be like, oh, play the, I got some.

I got some motion front or shameless ocean front property. Oh, shameless. Garth, the three to two lead right now. Oh, Brandon, you're up. Ocean front property. So the problem here is to me, can I just walk you through? I existential crisis. Is that shameless as a cover? Yeah, Billy Joel. Correct. Ocean front property is not a cover. I don't, but George Pride didn't write it. I don't know. George's right motion front. I don't think he's dealing. Yeah. Dean Dylan who Brandon wrote with. Do you know Brandon wrote with Dean Dylan? We talk about Brandon and how advanced he is musically. He's written with all these people. Oh, that's. He didn't like, Brandon Dean Dylan's apartment. What? That's true, too. Yeah, I lived in his old house that he built. That's crazy, dude. I didn't know that. I'm going to have to go shameless. Interesting. I got you. I got you. I'm going to go with I got you. Ocean front property. Brandon? Ocean front property.

Damn. Three to three. Or it is tight because this is really hard. For to go. Okay, from George, love without end amen. It's a great one. Prior to five or four. I came home from school one day with a Shiner Maya. It's a love without end amen. Or the river. Not even close. Really? Okay, you go first. The river. You? Brandon? The river. The river. Not even close. The river. The river is fantastic. Yeah, dude, it's so good. No dreams like, oh, come on. Ever changing as it flows. Next up, name my son after that song. Did you really know? Oh, okay. Brandon. Sorry. Is it his own vessel? He didn't know it was his own vessel. Oh, cool. The vessel. Okay. Four to three. Eight, nine and ten to go. The Garth is tingling. Mm-hmm.

From George, caring your love with me. Garth, call him Baton Rouge. Oh. I'll go first here. Carrying your love with me. I'm not a big call him Baton Rouge guy. And LSU. You're not? No, I have reasons. That I feel certain ways about songs. Yeah. Just take the song for what it is. Everybody is listening from Louisiana. I love you, fat. I'm an Arkansas guy. I don't like to hear that song. Because it means they've scored. You're pretty going. You're crazy. So LSU is ruined that for you. No, I still like it. I just don't love it. Okay. I'm going to go carrying your love with me. I just thought of everything. Oh, I gotta go carrying your love with me. From West Virginia down to Tennessee. Did you walk that? I walked charity for hundreds of thousands of dollars. Yeah, we raised so much money for charity. Brandon? Well, it doesn't matter. But, did you guys? What would you have picked? Also a cover.

Call them Baton Rouge. Yes, cover. But that's a George. It's four to four. That's a George. I didn't expect it to be so close. But four to four. What other names, like George is the king of country music and then Garth is the goat? I don't know if they really, like that's official. That people just call them the goat. Okay. It's just us. Is Garth not like the prince of, you know what I mean? Like the king of pop. I don't know if Garth has a name. Really? I feel like he needs a name. Goat works. I'm sure people do call him that because he has, he is sold way more than any other American artist. Yeah, the greatest of all time. Yeah, that's what goat is. I know just some kids people didn't know that. Oh, yeah. Okay. Next up, the cowboy rides away, George straight. Do you like that one? Love it. Sing that one. And you the stakes were high right from the start. Or Garth Brooks rodeo. Oh. Oh. Brandon, you go rodeo.

Really? Yeah. What do you have? I'm going to go with cowboy rides away. I'm going to go rodeo. Come on. Is Garth that up? Garth's up five to four. I got to believe. And the final one, George needs this for the tie. I can ask him for a tie breaker, okay. If it is tied. George straight, troubadour. That's a good one. Garth Brooks, Ang going down to the sun comes up. That's a solid matchup. I like the matchup between the two. It's no contest. Really? No contest. What do you want for the first? I'm going down to the sun comes up. Oh, really? I go troubadour. I'm going. Ain't going down to the sun comes up. So Garth wins six to four. Wow. Hey, Garth, good job, buddy. Sorry, George. Sorry, George. That was a good one though. That was the final one. It's a fun game, huh? That's a lot of fun. That's a really good game. All right. I got two other existential questions.

These are a little more. That was just kind of fun. Okay. Number one. Which hugely successful artist do you respect, but you don't really understand the appeal of? And I can give you a couple because I made a list of two, not really a list, but I picked two. Number one is kiss. Oh, that's interesting. Because they don't have a bunch of hits. I know a couple songs. I know I want to rock and roll all night party every day. I know Beth. Not only from that movie, not step brothers, but roll models. Roll models. Oh, wow. Okay. Yeah. And I still like that song. It's a ballad. And then I know music city. The Detroit, Detroit city. Yeah. Yeah. That's about it, right? I'm sure there are more. I'm not a massive fan of them. I'd put kiss on that. And I'm sure the spectacle of it was part of the appeal, the face paint, the pie-row it shows. It's not really knowing who they were right for a lot of years.

Like who are these guys, the guys behind the paint? Because there was no social media. Yeah. So I do kiss and then I do fish. That's a good one. That's a great one. I'm just not a jam band guy. To me, I don't know any of their songs. Things do. That's really good. But I don't think you should know their songs to enjoy. Then the people that I know that love fish and go to multiple fish shows, they're not preaching to me what one song to listen to. They're preaching to me about an experience. Yeah. I'm experienced out. I'm good. I took my tour because I took my son in New York City and we wanted to do a tour of Madison Square Garden. And the tour guide said that fish played there. You may want to double check this. But they said that fish holds a record for, I don't know, playing the most consecutive nights, sold out shows. And they never played the same song twice. With them though, I would believe they just made them up as they went. Maybe. They just made out new songs. It's one song. Yeah. That was would be my two. And I did have a head start. Yeah, that's good. Is anything come to your mind, Brandon? Yeah, the first one I can think of and this may be controversial.

Madonna. I think you're just too young. No. Explain. Because I'm kind of with you on that. I, you guys also aren't women. But the song, I like the songs, but I mean her. Yes. I don't really understand. Go ahead. You speak. I have a, I have a huge respect for Madonna. And the songs. I mean, she's got massive hits like all day. But her, she's, she's an enigma to me and brave and amazing like with her fans and all that stuff. And I respect that. I just, I'm just, I still get it. I think the thing to get about Madonna a little before me too is that if Sydney Swaini sang songs, I think that would be Madonna because she was pushing every physical boundary. Like she had hits, but she also was like, I'm so famous. And I'm still going to make this all about sex at a time whenever it wasn't. She pushed the boundary every time. Yeah.

Yeah. Totally did. So miss me a little before me. But if someone said wise Madonna successful, I would say one, she wrote great songs and was a good performer, but also like she did a book of just sex. Right. Great. A book's all about sex. And it was, it may have been called a book about sex. And not only that, I think she was really for like women's liberation. That's how women loved her. So that's probably why we miss what it is because we didn't need to be liberated. Okay. I like her songs that she has jams. But also I'm not really mad. I'm like, I get it. Yeah. I get it much respect. No, no respect. You've very much. I get it. I get it. But just not for me. And then I'll go. Go ahead. No, go ahead. What's your second one? No, Brennan, what do you got? Brennan, please, please. I was going to piggyback off of your fish thing. Grateful dead. Yeah. That are the same thing. I got one of them today. Okay. And John Mayer's and dead and company. So I didn't want to like it. They're not, and I think they're all dead now, right? Cause Bob Wears dead. Oh, he died too. Right. But, but I mean, so no respect, no disrespect. Dude, they're not, I don't get it.

I don't get it either. They're awesome. I like Casey Jones though. That song. They're not in that train. Hi. Okay. That's a good one. Yeah. At least know a song. Okay. You. Friend of the devil is a friend of mine. Dude, they're jams. I love. Oh, grateful dead. That's a good one for me. Mm-hmm. Nickelback. What are we doing? And they have great songs. Nickelback. They have great songs. I don't understand. Hey, okay. You can think that they're kind of DBs, but they still have great songs. If you're an Applebee's. And you're an Applebee's. This should tell you right now. What are we doing? What's an Applebee's? Normal people go to Applebee's. That does a music. Applebee. Yeah. If you're an Applebee's and over the top. Never made it as a lot, man. Everybody's going to be doing this. Never made it as a lot. He's saying they're the Applebee's of music. That's not what he's saying. You look around if you're an Applebee's. When remind me comes on. Oh, yeah. Everybody's singing it. You room on. Everybody's singing it. Dude, that reminds me of a bad time of my life. That's probably why you hate him.

That's probably why. No, but they were part of the bad time of my life. All right. Last question. Oh, I have one more. Go ahead, Prince. You're an idiot. No, come on. No, I don't want to be judgmental, but you're an idiot. Yeah. I don't get it. Anytime. I like some of the songs. My bad. You're a stupid idiot. Oh. Oh. Yeah. You're the dumbest idiot. You guys, nothing? Like what I think me just throwing an opinion out there, because I missed Prince being super famous too by age wise. But I think if he didn't have all of these hit songs or if he wasn't purple, he would just be considered one of the top three guitarists of all time in the history of music. Yeah. And that doesn't really translate to a big star. That shows you his music acumen. But right, the other stuff was the big star stuff, but you're like, I don't get it. Like what he was probably the best at is not even what we know him for. The guitar. Just music playing everything. Oh, yeah. I mean, he was. Yes. Musically. But he was sex too. Yeah.

That was, hey, everyone, comment stupid idiot below. What do you guys, chat? What do you think? How stupid is he? We have no chat. Some people will agree with me. What do you not get? I don't get it. You don't think his songs are great? I don't get why he was so big. Like I think some songs are really good. I think it's almost like he was like an actor, right? He was like, no, even like, you know, just his persona on stage and very dramatic. I can't. You think that's just the way he was? Yeah, because you're all the stories about how he would record and how demanding he was. If it were three o'clock in the morning, he just calls band to be like, you need to get over my house right now, because I'm about to start recording. Yeah. We're totally weird. That takes weird people to make great stuff. That's true. He was just one that when you look back at like all time, greatest, he'd be on the list and I'd be like, I don't know why he's on the list. Well, that's good to do. Because I'm an idiot. Yeah, that's good to do. Okay, final question here. As we do three existential questions, what artists biggest hit actually gives people the

wrong idea about how good they actually are? And again, I'm just throwing it. You guys have had some time to come up with a question and come up with a couple answers. So what artist biggest hit gets people the wrong idea about who they are? Because they're actually really good or really different. F three, because I knew this would be a hard one to think about. Number one is Bobby McFarron. Oh, that's because that dude hates that song. Don't worry. Be happy. And he shouldn't hate it. That's a great song. He's an art artist. He doesn't want to have pop songs. Yeah. He doesn't like playing that song. Last, that's all he doesn't play that song. And what else do you think of his alive anymore? Well, the only other thing that I know he had is a Cosby show theme where it's like boom to him. Yeah. That's right. That's right. Yeah. What you know, don't worry, be happy is mouth stuff too, right? Oh, yeah. But it's also lyrics. He's alive. He's alive. He's alive. 76 years old. Oh, I love it. Does he play? Don't worry, be happy. He made that up because the last I saw when I saw a special on him, he hated that song, did not want to play it, would not play it, because it did not represent who he was.

But who? That's who I like. And he also really hates it because of Billy Bass, right? Billy Bass probably. I mean, a lot of money. Billy Bass made him a lot of money. That fish we got like this. We got like this. He's like, I don't know. And then when I was done singing. That and that. Tag me to the river. What do you see Mike? What do you see Mike? It looks like you stopped performing in 2023 as Parkinson's. Oh, man. That's a like to him. I hope you know. But anyway, that's a jam. Another one is Fountain's a Wayne. They had Stacey's mom. And so they just were not a novelty band. Like that dude was a really deep insightful song, right? Oh, wow. Yeah. And so I think that song blew up and it painted them in a whole different light because everybody just knew them from Stacey's mom. Yeah. The other one that I would put over in our space is Leanne Wilmak because she had to hope you dance. But she is very deeply traditional when it comes to country music. And I think people know her as with this big pop country-ish anthem.

But Leanne Wilmak is as country's apple pie man. That's really not the rest of her music. Never again and again last call those songs like that. I think that is who she really is. But people know her as I hope you dance. That's good. They give me enough time to think of. Yeah, I thought of one and this is just one that I've recently, I would say in the last like ten years, kind of dove deep into his music and realized that I had it all wrong from the very beginning because I was the one that would listen to your body as a wonderland and be like, this is so cheesy. That's a good one. Like this is so bad. But then you go deep dive into John Mayer, dude. And he is a great guitarist, an amazing songwriter. He is awesome. Like his music is so freaking good that like you were a big fan and honestly for years I didn't ever understand why you were such a big fan. Your body is a wonderland dude, bubble gum tongue, what are you talking about? It's also good now. That's a good one. I love it. That's a good one. Brandon, anything coming to mind?

I'm still thinking over here. I'm sorry. Another one I thought about was Warren Z. Because I think he can wear wolves of London. Oh, okay. Let's see, I don't know any of his other music. Did he have the French and Haler if I were that song? Because I knew it, but it's only because I went through when I thought about him and I started listening back through his library a little bit. Very complicated guy and complicated songwriter. But really all I know him for for the most part, two things. One, David Letterman would have him on to play with his band because David Letterman was a massive fan. And then, oh, it was a London. Which I love, by the way. Yeah. Another one for you, Brandon, if you're still thinking. You want to give him one? Jimmy Buffett. Ooh, can I have that one? Because I don't like Jimmy Buffett. You don't like Jimmy Buffett. Hey, cheeseburger paradise, demo song ever. See? I'm fine with Margaritaville, whatever. I just feel like there is so much more to Jimmy Buffett than people think. That's my bubblegum tongue. Yeah. That was songs of bubblegum tongue. Especially cheeseburger paradise. That's bubblegum tongue. I'm like, I don't want to hear anything else this guy does because I got bubblegum tongue.

And I'll cheeseburger paradise. I know. You've already hated it on it. I know. Yeah. I know. But there's so much more to me, Buffett, when you explore the catalogs of his, the catalog of all his music and his songs or some of the deeper cuts. Great songwriting, dude. He's like, and he was a songwriter by experience. Like, mostly all his songs are experiences written on paper. Things that he did and turn them into songs, which makes them so much better. You should have saved some ink with that cheeseburger. Because each of you cheeseburger, we're going to sing about everything, bro. You know? Because he was eating the cheeseburger. For all vacation, cheeseburger. You got to write a song right now. There's no need. Oh, man. I love him. Brandon, last shot. Anything come to mind? Yeah. I mean, kind of in your same vein, I guess, Brian Adams. So people know him as his, as like film, film songs. Like everything I do, I do it for you. Like, oh, it's cheesy. Cheesy love songs. But the more you dive in to, to Brian Adams' whole catalog and how great of a songwriter

is, I mean, it's the same way you feel about Jimmy Buffett. He's one where like you, you can like stream one song and then if it speeds you all, a lot of his other songs, like you start saying, oh, I forgot about that one. I love that one. I think I need to do that then because I like it. Am I right now? Look into my eyes. Robin Hood. You will see. Yeah. Which was awesome. Robin Hood, men of thieves are. Yeah. And in Prince of Thieves. Prince of Thieves. Is that what it is? Yeah. And then they did this. What? What's the one? I got my first real sixth string down down at the five end. Does the only two I think I know, but I bet all the other. Oh, the one that's in heaven, dude. Heaven. Straight from the heart. Straight from the heart. Straight from the heart when you're doing. No, no, no, no, no, no, not that one. How does the straight from the heart go? Give it straight from the heart. Oh, that's not what I was thinking. That's a good one. I do like heaven though. Maybe you're all that I, they ended up making cover in that song way later.

And it was a dance song and then it was a really like a DJ did. Yeah. I should know the answer to that. What is some other one? DJ Sammy, that's it. Oh, he's got. There were some sounds like, please forgive me. I don't know if you remember that song. Wake up the neighbors. Brandon says nephew. Uncle Brian. Run to you. Run to you. I run to you. That's a jam. Oh, that's yes. Have you ever really loved a woman? That's a good one. Oh, that's the Spanish guitar one. Rod Stewart. Yes, that's a good one. That's a good one. I don't even know that one. That's what I'm saying, man. You just forget about those. I'm glad you said that because I'm going to jump in to Brian Adams today then because I, I just for, I didn't even know he had all these songs. Check the playlist. Make sure you have like a bunch of songs. How about this? Cut's like a nut. That one. That one. That's a good one. Up his bare bones album, it's him on acoustic and a piano and he's singing. I think it's recorded at the Rhyman. It's all the hits, but it's just that simple thing and the crowd singing along with everything.

And you just realize like, dude, every single song of his is just a splash. Yeah. There you have it. Thank you guys. Existentialism. We can do more of this at some other point. Well, you should just look up existentialism anyway because that is a movement. Henry David Thoreau. Mm. Did you do on your phone? No, no, no, just remember that from school. Them talking about existentialists and Henry David Thoreau and his book, Walden Pond. You couldn't even say existentialism when we started this and all of a sudden you couldn't throw. Yeah, I don't know, man. Random stuff comes in my head. Hank tight. The Bobby cast will be right back. Save with digital deals at Vons and Albertsons. different opinions. And at this point in my 50s, I've lived it all. I'm not gonna get any of your fighting. That is wild. I learned that about you today. Now in my 30s, being the founder of new shoes, good taste is my business. And I've always got something to say. If men were just honest about this, there would be so much more peace in the world. Toyota, let's go places. And we're back on the Bobbi cast. And now this is a thing at different Netflix. We're always talking about the top worst 15-number-one songs of all time. So enjoy it. We're also going to do me ranking the current Dancing With the Stars contestant. So all that is kind of contained in this episode. Appreciate you guys listening. And here we go for some bad number ones. First, number one, songs of all time on the Billboard Hot 100. The ranking is subjective. I'm looking at different things because you might actually like the song. Sometimes I actually like the song, but we're talking about songwriting, production, repetition, how well the record holds up after its original popularity.

And again, some of these songs were deliberately made to be novelty songs. And some weren't. And some of them are major artists. They're really, you never hear from this song again after it went number one. I also want to separate a song's quality from its... We got two cameras going, so I can edit that if I mess up. Okay, go. I also want to separate a song's quality from its commercial importance. Because a record can change the industry, or it can become part of pop culture, and still be something that I would put on a worse songs list. So understand that I might actually like these songs. And when I describe an artist as a one hit wonder, do not message me going, they had this other hit. They had this other song. I'm talking about on the big chart, the Billboard Hot 100. They had one hit. You may be in their fan club and know four other songs. That does not mean they had three other hits. Let's get started now at number 15. Daniel Powder. Because you had a bad day, 2006.

This song spent five weeks at number one. This song was the song they played on American Idol whenever you went home. I actually really liked this song. Now Daniel Powder's a Canadian singer, songwriter. Recently, he went and sang on Canada's Got Talent, and he sang this song, and they didn't realize it was him who was singing this song. But this song was a monster because at the time, American Idol was a monster, and it was a jam, but my criticism is that it expresses emotion in a fairly general way. The chorus is memorable. But okay, you had a bad day, now what? Who'd you kick? Who'd you fight? Who'd you bite? I don't want to know the rest. Jam of a song, but I put it at number 15 in my worst number ones of all time. At number 14, I have a rude magic. Six weeks at number one. Now this is back in 2014. It's another Canadian band. And so the front man of the group

was already a very experienced songwriter. He had written songs for Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, and it's kind of a relaxed reggae, influence type rhythm song. And mostly I don't like reggae, and I feel like Bob Marley's overrated, so that's why I put it here. Like I understand, my friends that like the beats, like Bob Marley, I don't like the beats, I don't like water. So I'm not a big reggae guy. Musically the song is fine. It's easy to sing along with. At number 14, worst number one songs of all time. That's all. At number 13, Wright said, Fred, I'm too sexy. I bought this tape back in the day. This was the only halfway decent song on it. I loved I'm too sexy for all my shirt. Too sexy for all my shirt. Too sexy, yeah, it hurts. This song spent three weeks at number one. And as a kid, when the line was I'm too sexy for my pussy, my pussy cat. When they didn't say the cat part, I was like, oh God, that's crazy.

But they did. And then you're like, oh, pussy cat. Yeah, Wright said Fred, just a little history on these guys. They were a British group that was built around two brothers, Richard and Fred. Richard worked at a gym, kind of jacked. Fred was kind of jacked, and that was really what the song was. A producer and a DJ helped reshape the song, how it originally wasn't to basically a dance record, which it became and that we all heard it. But when this song came on, even what is that? And then it became kind of a pop culture moment. Too sexy for all my pussy. My pussy cat. Man, if you're like 24, you don't even know how to hit when he said too sexy for my pussy. My pussy cat. Okay, that's number 13. And number 12, vanilla freaking eyes, eye size baby. This song only spent one week at number one. Everybody knows this song. A lot of people can rap the song that weren't even alive

when the song came out. It spent one week at number one in 1990. It became the first rap single to top the Billboard Hot 100. This song made me want to shave the hair on the sides of my head, and have a flat top, everybody. Every nerdy white dude thought they could be vanilla ice. Now, what's funny to me, what I think about is the baseline from Queen and David Bowie's under pressure. Dom, dom, dom, dom, dom, dom, dom, dom, dom, dom, dom, dom, and I remember when I size baby came out and vanilla ice was like, no, no, no, no, that's not the same song. Their song goes, dom, dom, dom, dom, dom, dom, dom, and my song goes, dom, dom, dom, dom, dom, dom, dom. I'm like, bro, that's the same song. In the end, I do think he paid them for using that, but it was legit. I mean, I can do some of it, I guess. I don't want to get in trouble by the podcast police,

but everybody knows stop, collaborate and listen. Ice is back with my, ah, you got it right. But nostalgic for sure. And then you could say that vanilla ice had other hits, like play that funky music white boy, not really a hit, but Ninja rap on the Ninja Turtles movie. Oh my God, I used to call the radio station and beg them to play Ninja rap from the Ninja Turtle movie. That's number 12. Number 11, Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder, Ebony and Ivory. 1982, seven weeks at number one. 1982, McCartney wrote the song, George Martin produced it, so we're talking Beatles here. And you think if you bring in Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder together, this is a massive collaboration. Even before you heard the song, you're going, this might be the best song ever in the history of songs. Like sonically, this is as close to God as music will ever be. The song uses the black and white keys of a piano as a metaphor for racial harmony. And the intention is completely positive.

The message, it's easy to understand. It says, why can't we coexist? As naturally as the notes to make up music. It was just, I think I wanted a little more from these two greats. The arrangement is smooth and it's good. It's very direct. It feels a little corny. It does. It feels a little corny, especially knowing what these two were capable of. And I think that's what it is. I think the expectations were just too big because it was Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder because I do think it's a good song. And I do love the message behind it. And I don't think the recording really holds up. So I'm gonna put that at number 11, Ebony and Ivory. I'm gonna say again, I love the message. I love the artist individually. Not a great number one song. Number 10, Starland Vocal Band. Now, what's their only song? Afternoon Delight. If you watch Anchorman, you probably know it from that.

If you don't remember it from 1976, I was not alive in 1976, but I do know it from Anchorman. And yeah, it's a little general pop song. It's daytime intimacy. It's like getting it on at noon. But it feels so light and polished. There's really no, let's get it on intimacy. It's one of those songs that you don't really know as a sad song because it's so fast. It's not supposed to be getting it on in the daytime. Yet, it just kind of feels goofy and overly sweet. So, and that's probably why they use it in Anchorman. Starland Vocal Band won the Grammy for Best New Artist in 1977. The other nominees for Best New Artist, Fun Fact, included Boston, which they crushed. Fun Fact about that. Boston, not a crap loss in my place here. Starland Vocal Band won the Grammy for Best New Artist in 1977.

Boston was also nominated there. So, they didn't quite work out as well as Boston did. Number nine, the Chipmunks and David Seville. Christmas don't be late. Christmas don't be late. That was a number one song. That song spent four weeks at number one. Christmas, Christmas. It's a great Chipmunk song. I can't believe the Chipmunks song went to number one. When I was putting together the research to do this little half episode here, the fact that I saw the Chipmunk song, Christmas don't be late, was a number one song on the Billboard Hot 100, blew my mind. The fact that it spent four weeks at number one, blew my mind twice. 1958 and 1959. David Seville was the performing name of this guy named Ross. He created the Chipmunks voices by manipulating tape speed. And he performed all the different characters himself. And so, it's funny because I think he recorded them

like really slow and then sped it up instead of talking like this and speeding it up because then it wouldn't match the beat of the song. So, I love the Chipmunks. I just thought it was crazy. They had a four week number one song. That's it. And number eight, the Macarena. And I felt like they sold out when they put the English singing in it. I like the original Macarena and everybody was doing the dance. There's a really funny, I think it's a democratic national convention. And it's like this is totally the 90s. And you see like Hillary Clinton as Bill's wife, not Hillary Clinton, the person running for office, but doing the Macarena with all the people from the 90s. That's a pretty funny video. Go look for it. Nothing was more 90s, 1996 to be specific than Macarena by Lostel Rio. And whenever they added the, let me tell you about my boyfriend. His name is the Mammic Arena. And I feel like they were selling out to the Americans. I unlike that. But I did like it and I didn't know it.

And I still know the Macarena, which is hand-hand. Think of upside down. Then go shoulder. Then go head. Then go hip. And then rock your hips. All right. And then go clap like that. Boom. Number eight. Number seven, LMFAO. Sexy and I know it. 2012. This song spent two weeks at number one. So this song was kind of the jam when it came out. Mostly because I thought it was crazy that they had the F word in their name because LMFAO is laughing my a off. I was like, that's wild. Red food and sky blue who were uncle and nephew, which is also interesting. And there are connection and music history. Pretty cool. Red food is the son of Barry Gordy who founded Motown. And sky blue is Gordy's grandson. So they had already reached number one with party rock anthem. So they weren't one hit wonders. They had a recognizable approach that, boom, boom, boom, boom, big hair.

And it's kind of a jam. But it kind of sounded like every other song that they had put out. That's why I didn't put the first one on there. I thought the first one was even better. But this one was just basically the sequel to that first one. But yeah, I also always thought it was crazy that it was an uncle and an nephew, even though they were about the same age. And one of them is trying to play professional tennis right now too, which is crazy. And number six, we built this city. Da, da, da. That is by starship. Man, it does hit hard when it starts. 1985, two weeks at number one. It's spent two weeks there that groups history as part of this discussion because starship, well, they weren't the original band. They developed out of Jefferson's starship, which had developed out of Jefferson Airplane. Think about that. It's like the band period. They just keep eating people up and kicking them out. That was Jefferson Airplane to Jefferson's starship, to starship. They got brothers that kicked them out, they put in husbands in. It's the same thing.

Grace Slick connected those different periods. The lineups would change. The musical direction changed. One of the song's writers was Bernie Toppen, who is Elton John's longtime lyricist. How about that for a fun fact? His original idea concerned the disappearance of live music clubs, and the difficulty of keeping that culture alive. And so the song is more of a background on what they're actually talking about than just the chorus of fun. But yeah, it's a good song. I like it. It comes on. It hits hard. I never go pursue it though. I'm not gonna play list. I don't ever hear it. Word number five. Ray Stevens, the streak. Now I gotta tell you something. As a kid, I ate Ray Stevens for breakfast, for lunch, and for dinner. I loved Ray Stevens songs. Oh yes, they call him the streak. 1974, this song spent three weeks at number one. Talent show, taking seventh, maybe eighth grade, we did this song.

And ran out in all nude suit. It was an auditorium that we did a Bobby Casse from a few weeks ago with Arkansas Keats, same auditorium. And we got second place to Christie A. Van Aarie Mitchell doing two of a kind of working on a full house by Garth Brooks. And the only reasons they got it, because they were girls. And then one of them, as they were sweeping, they smiled and they had one of their teeth blacked out and the crowd erupted. That's the only reason that we lost doing the streak in the performance contest. So I'm gonna put Ray Stevens the streak there, because I think people are just haters. Anytime I talk about Ray Stevens, they're like, I don't know who that is. But do I need to go through Ray Stevens songs that rocked? The Mississippi squirrel revival? Are you kidding? Now songs like A-hab, the A-rab, don't really translate into today's culture. Let me tell you about A-hab, the A-rab. You know at the time, that's pretty funny, can't do that now. He did have a song though, called Everything Is Beautiful, that was much more straight ahead.

Everything is beautiful in its own way. And he was like, throw roses, and you kept waiting for the joke, and there was no joke with that one. That one was weird, there was nothing funny about it. But I gotta put number five, because I think most people don't understand Ray Stevens and they would go, what the heck is that even about? But it's the same thing. It's just somebody streaking, running naked. And I bet you a bunch of people actually ran naked in places because of that song. Because they were inspired by that song. He's in the country music hall of fame, by the way, Ray Stevens I believe, which is pretty cool. Number four, D4L, that's the name of the group. Can you think of the song? By D4L, it would be a number one song. If you guessed, shake that Lafayette Cafe, oh, shake that Lafayette Cafe, you would be correct. D4L came out of Atlanta's, what they call it, snap music scene, which used like real sparse beats, snapping percussion, straightforward hooks.

I mean, there's minimal production, it's just, don't, don't think, don't, don't think, don't, don't think, shake that, don't, don't think. It just repeated itself over and over again. It was a jam for about three weeks. But I don't think it, it's what they should play at Guantanamo. They should play the death metal and shake that Lafayette Cafe. And I think they'd be confessing everything. We'd have all of the world's intelligence secrets if you just play that song over and over again. There goes, candy girl. Number three, Paul Anca. With somebody named Odea Coates. Can't say I'm a huge nowhere of Odea Coates, but you have a my baby. Go stream that song. Three weeks at number one. The song was intended as celebration of pregnancy. He wrote it for his wife and Coates joined him on the recording. The main criticism was the lyrics because it was all about what it meant to the dude.

And the woman's love for him. He just made it about him. When it really, it wasn't supposed to be about that. It reminds me once, I told my wife, hey, I wrote you this song, I'm gonna play it tonight because it was when we were dating and I was doing a bunch of stand-up and I'd take my guitar for like 12 minutes of show and I'd play a few songs. Maybe you've heard my hits, Hobby Lobby. The Hobby Lobby Bobby song. Grandma song, but I wrote another one. I said, wrote this for you. And then when I played the song, it was all about me. And the things that I felt, it wasn't really heard about her at all. And I got all the way to say, did you like that? She was like, well, it was all about you. Well, that's kind of what this song is. And it's a really soft arrangement and sentimental delivery, but it's a dude talking about himself. When he should be talking about her somewhat. Number two, Chuck Berry, my dingaling. My dingaling, my dingaling. I love to play with my dingaling. Man, I thought this song was so funny as a kid. 1972, two weeks at number one.

This guy had songs like Johnny Be Good. Well, no, no, no, no. And then he had my dingaling. It's a novelty recording, for sure. It's also his highest American pop chart result. This guy was really one of the greats. And this is the one that goes number one. That's why I put it at number two, because he should have more than this song at number one. My dingaling, that's his only song. He's a great giver of American culture. In the only song, we're gonna put it number one from him as my dingaling. Okay, and now, number one. Rick D's Disco Duck. The funny thing about this is that he was like a radio DJ in Memphis, and he made this song. And his band, and I didn't know this until I researched this, was actually Rick D's and his cast of idiots. Maybe you're familiar with my musical duo, The Raging Idiots. No relation, but Disco Duck, he was a radio personality.

Like a radio personality. He was like a real DJ. And so what makes this song stupid is that, there's a car, I can't do a duck voice, but there's the duck in the actual song. And it was a novelty song, for sure. And I don't think they ever thought it would do what it did, which it went number one. So this is the one where the initial concept does most of the work, and then it just repeats. And then there's a duck in it. There's the sound effect there. So that goes number one for me, for the worst number one song of all time. That's my countdown. Wasn't a long episode. I just kinda got in the weeds there. What started it was, that Chuck Berry never had another number one song other than my dingaling, and I could not believe it. Again, he is someone who brought us so much American culture and music, and the only song he had that went number one was my freaking dingaling. Are you kidding me? Shout out, Ray Stevens. Shout out, Rick D's. Really nice guy. And all these songs had paths to the top, for sure.

Some benefited from television exposure. The Daniel Powder bad day for sure. That song was what American Idol was that season. Some were tied to dance crazes that everybody did. Democratic National Convention, Hillary Clinton. I'm talking about, ooh, my carina. Others came from artists who had enormous weight, and that probably got it to number one. Ebony and Ivory, Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder. Regardless, the chart success, it's a fact. They're placed on the worst songs list, an opinion. So your taste could be completely different, and also some of those songs were awesome, but some of them were terrible. So that's it. Thank you very much. You can DM me, Mr. Bobby Bones, to tell me what song you had put on. So there was a lot. Shout out, Daniel Powder. Shout out, Magic. Shout out, Wright said Fred, Vanilla Ice, Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder, Starland Vocal Band, the Chipmunks, the Freakin' Chipmunks, the Freakin' Chipmunks, Los Del Rio, LMFAO, Starship.

Remember Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship, and then Starship. They just were killing people. They just continue in the band. Ray Stevens, D4L, Paul Anca, Chuck Berry, and Rick D's and his cast Evidates. The Bobby Cast will be right back. It's not just electric. It's Toyota Electric. But don't wait! These special savings won't last. We make it easy. Toyota, let's go places. Welcome back to the Bobby Cast. Everybody, it's time for my power rankings for Dancing with the Stars this week. There are 12 remaining contestants at number 12.

And that does not mean he'll go home next because he has survived, answered, survived. It is Giromo. He got a 15 out of 30 last week. Look, he's obviously the least capable dancer. But he's also one of the most beloved. There will become a point when even the most loved gets kicked off if they can't keep the scores up. So he may survive a couple more weeks but I can't see him lasting more than that just because he's only being kept around because people love him. The rumors now were that Whitney wanted to go home and she can't believe she's lasted this long. She's been talking about that saying that's not the case. Obviously she's pregnant. It's fun to root them along. So let's go Giromo. But he's at number 12 on my power rankings. No chance to win. And number 11, Tyler Cameron from the Bachelor, a 17 out of 30 last week. He's a former college athlete and he did a jive and usually athletes excel at the jive

if they don't have dance experience. The jive was the only thing that I could almost kind to do consistently. It's why we did it multiple times during the show. He's got to be cleaner with his execution. I'm surprised that he's not better at this point because he is a very strong athlete. He enhanced them, probably helps with the votes a little bit. For sure being the Bachelor helps with the votes a little bit because anybody can get pushed through five or six weeks if they're coming from that show. But at number 11, Tyler Cameron, right above Giromo, chance to win the show, zero. Next up, Sierra Miller. She got an 18 out of 30. She's at number 10 this week. And she got three straight sixes for her Cha Cha. You would think the judges though would go, let's not do six, six, six. Let's do six, seven, six, seven, six, six. We don't want to want to devil up here. But they have her three sixes.

She has to break through soon or it's never gonna happen. So it's there. She just has not hit it yet. Also, I don't feel like she has really bonded with the audience yet. She hasn't had that real personal moment either, which if you go through this, there's a lot of them that haven't had that yet. Or even a semblance of it. And number nine is Conor Wood. He got a 20 out of 30. He did the Fox trot. The Fox trot to me, a non-dancer who is ill-educated in this. The Fox trot's that interesting, pretty athletic, but also, there's a lot of ballroom in it that just being an athlete can't get you through. And I thought he did pretty well at the Fox trot. He had a rough week last week. 20 out of 30, not bad. His personality is starting to show a little bit. I think people will like that. I think his partnership with Riley could help him stay around. She's very beloved.

So to move into the contender group, he's got to start putting together strong weeks consecutively. I think he is starting to put together a strong character performances. But right now it's still a bit tough because there are 12 people, right? There's only so much space on the show. It's hard to really cut through personally whenever there are more than 10 people. So any sort of land grab you can get right now is bonus and he's done that. At number eight, Julia Stiles, people are really starting to like her. She had a good rebound from last week. They did the salsa. Salsa is tough if you're goofy like me. She's still dealing with the rib injury. So shout out to her for fighting through. There is potential there, not only for dance, but I think she's putting it out there where people are starting to feel like they can root for her and root alongside her. I trust her ability more than I trust that we're gonna get a good score. But at number eight, Julia Stiles,

her chance to win that 8%. And number seven, and she has made a move up over the last few weeks. It's Tatiana Ali. She scored a 21 out of 30. Her quick step was a breakthrough. I think the judges, when I watched what they said, they loved her footwork, they loved her energy. She's becoming one of the better improvement stories of the season. And that matters tremendously. And I think the improvement, and I think that we're starting to see more of her as a person and a competitor. And there's also the nostalgia factor. That's interesting. She could climb quickly. She's gonna have to build pretty fast though. But I do have her at number seven. We're about a 13% chance of winning the show. And number six, and he just can't put it together. He's not there yet. He's who I predicted, one of the two I predicted that would win the whole thing. And number six is Jackson Holson. He scored an 18 out of 30. So with him, it's just been so much about potential.

Potential, potential, potential, because he is very likable. He has a big personality. He's got to dance at least a little bit to catch up. He doesn't have to be one of the best five or six dancers right now. He just has to show tremendous improvement week to week. Or he's got to really be vulnerable in his packages. Now, the thing about the packages is, you don't have control of what they use as far as practice time. But there's some stuff where if you do it, you know what's gonna get used. So you can't bunch your way to a mirror ball. I think he still has a shot to win the show. But there has got to be some major dance improvement. And I just, I need him crying. I need him crying. I need him hugging. I need him running to the audience. I need him bringing his grandma to the show. If he hasn't a live grandma, if not rent one, you can get anything on Craig's list. Jackson Olson. He can still win the show, but a little bit of a fade from last week.

I'm gonna put his chances at winning the show at 22%. And number five in the power rankings. Jenna Dewan. Pro dancer. And now they're holding that against our little bit, which they should. Everybody should be held to wherever they came into the show. And she came in very, very high. She scored a 21 out of 30. They did a somba. Like her somba was better than most other people's dances. But again, she's held to a higher standard because she comes from a dance background. With her, because she has such an advantage, she's gonna have to have a crazy breakout moment. And she hasn't had that. She's just been really good. But being really good was expected. So she has fallen to number five overall in the power rankings this week. I give her a 31% chance to win the show.

And number four, Maura Higgins, a 22 out of 30 last week. Pretty elegant. She did a quick step. She finished just behind the two leaders. She's becoming very dependable. And for someone that I had no knowledge of whatsoever in anything that she has done in the media, I'm starting to like her. Also, I really like Mark. And there's two, Mark and Danielle that are so great at choreographing these dances and not just the dances. Even the elements that give you the wow factor. And so she is really climbed. I think she's a contender. I think she's a contender. She's a contender at number four, Maura Higgins. I'm gonna put her winning percentage at about 38%. Harry Shum Jr. is my number three dancer this week in the power rankings.

He scored a 24 out of 30. Look, he's awesome. And so is Jenna Dewan. They're awesome at dance. No doubt about it. You're root for Harry. You kind of feel like he's dude that lives down the street. There's nothing about him that feels that intimidating. And that's perfect on this show. He did a jive. Same thing as Tyler Cameron did. Obviously it was great. We're reminded he's one of the two best dancers out there. He looked very connected with his partner, which was cool. His challenge, and I think he's starting to do this a bit is make people care about him. We can all appreciate the dancing, but do we care about them? And I think he's starting to do that. So Harry Shum is at number three overall, and I have him with a really solid shot to make the finals right now. I put about 40% to win it all. At number two, Ezra.

I love the dude. He didn't score tremendously high. But if you're so lovable, and also if you've scored really high the weeks before, having a one-off bad, that's okay. Actually, it kind of helps the next week, because whenever you show up and you hit it hard and you get a high score, the judges go, wow, you really improved so much. So, again, he wasn't at the top of the leaderboard, but I'm keeping him second because I'm looking at his whole season here. He's shown a real ability to dance. He's also shown that viewers can get emotionally invested in his journey. And I was talking about Daniela earlier. Her mark, they're the two that you gotta watch for as far as the pros, because as my grandma used to say, about me, you can't polish a turd, but they can polish really great dancers with really cool choreography and added elements, because these aren't turds. These are amazing athletes and dancers,

and I hate it, my grandma, you said about me. So, strong path to the final, he's in the finals. I don't see any way that he's not in the finals. I think he's got a really solid chance to win the thing. I would say almost a coin flip, 48% chance to win it all. And number one, super proud. One of the people I picked in the very beginning, one of the two, Amber Glenn. She's my number one. That Fox Shred, I was talking about earlier. It was smooth, it was controlled. It was tied for the highest score, overall, on Yacht Rock Knight, her and Harry. And overall, she's doing what she was supposed to do. She's combining strong dancing, and she's improving constantly and consistently. She already looks good. And I think there's even room for her to get better, and don't forget the patriotic element. USA, USA. This is dancing with the stars of America. So, if they do a theme, and she's able to pull out America in any way,

because the final dance usually you get to pick. It's a freestyle. You get to do whatever you want. If she's set up perfectly, and she gets to pull out America, and freaking Eagles are flying in, and somehow Hulk Hogan shows up, and if it's like they're even apple pie in the crowd, she'd give an apple pie to everybody, and she has her gold medal. Man, I think that's the ticket. You just don't want to shoot your load too early. You got to hold on. Don't America it right now. But man, what a card that is to play later. Number one, right now, in the power rankings, is Amber Glenn, the ice skater, the gold medal winner, and one of the top five best dancers, but one of the top three most likable contestants. That's the power rankings for right now. I put her win percentage at an even coin flip of 50-50. That's it. That's the power rankings this week. Thank you for watching. We got it. Let's keep going. Let's cut some people. Because when they cut people,

there's then more room for the other contestants to actually shine and show who they are as people not just dancers. So maybe not next week, maybe so, but you're gonna see Guillermo go home eventually. You might even see people get outraged at first. We can't believe Guillermo is still on the show. So lovable. No doubt about it. Tyler Cameron's only got a couple of a few weeks left in him. The only reason that he's still on right now is Bachelornation. And after that, everybody else has a chance to last for a while. It's exciting. It's a really good season. Thank you for watching. We'll see you guys next week. Love this episode of The Bobby Cast.
