3:05Now, if you really liked the episode that we just got done doing on the River Styx and about how we compared all the different cultural similarities over time in every part of the world. My thing is, is that one coincidence, one other culture at another time talking about a similar thing, you might be able to write that off. But whenever it keeps on reoccurring time and time and time and time again, it doesn't necessarily mean that there's some plagiarism going on here. That's not what we're trying to say at all, as a matter of fact. But I think that a lot of this information is hidden within us, that all of this comes from somewhere. And different cultures are going to explain it slightly differently. But for the most part, these are esoteric concepts to describe the ineffable.

4:06This is really what we're trying to do. This is what they were trying to do. So whenever you see a river that you have to cross to reach the other side and what is the other side? Nobody knows, that's why it's the abyss or that's why it's the void. It's the great unknown. And if anybody is scared of anything, it is always the unknown. I mean, fear is kind of like almost like preparing yourself for the unknown. I mean, that's usually where it stems from. But ultimately, it is an illusion. Our emotions definitely know how to build up images and feelings and thoughts in our minds. That is, for some reason, it is just built into the machine. Now, I understand the reason. I think we actually, I think a healthy amount of fear is actually pretty good. Not fearful of that branch that keeps knocking at my window or not fearful of not living up to,

5:06well, you know, like God's potential or any of that crap. What I'm saying is that, think about it. Your fear, if you can get a good harness on your fear, your fear can be a tool. And your fear, so let's, because your fear is essentially like a, it's an animalistic sensor. If you wanna look at it like that, right? Your body is giving you these fear vibes and it makes you uncomfortable. It makes you like kind of scared and all that kind of stuff. But essentially, it's just a sensor. But telling your body like, it's not that this is going to happen, but this has potential to happen. So I'm going to warn your body and send those pulsating signals from your body up to your brain to display a potential negative situation. And that is our fear concept here. And so it's, fear can be used as a tool in that way.

6:12But if you allow fear to overtake you, now you're really fucked, right? Like nothing worse than acting out of fear. You know what I'm saying? Have you ever been in a situation like that where literally you just let fear take the wheel and just steer it, right? Yeah, it ends up riding off the mountain every time. Yeah, it's usually not good to fully give in to your fear. But for some reason, it is, it's like, man, there's something tempting about that. I don't even want to say tempting. It's almost like it's, what is the term I'm looking for? Almost like it makes you drunk on its cocktail of emotions that is feeding to you in order to provide an illusion of that fear. You know? And all of these are just chemicals that are coursing through our body. It's not that it's not real.

7:13It's that once you can shed some light on it, you can see it for what it is and then potentially be able to use it. So beyond that, I was trying to say all that because that's what the river essentially stands for. That's what the veil stands for. That is that crossing from the known to the unknown. Now, a very interesting concept here that we're going to be talking about is the world tree or the tree of life. And it's actually, believe it or not, a pretty similar concept to the river sticks in a strange way. And many different cultures have brought up a very, very similar type of tree. And of course, you got the Norse, you got the Jewish mysticism, you got Mesopotamian and Egyptian and all these different like shamanic cultures, so many of them bring up this concept of a world tree

8:13and strikingly, even though all of these places are very separated, chances are most of their people never really got together and had a little kumbaya and shared knowledge. Maybe some of them did, but even if they did, it doesn't matter because they still took their cultural traditions and applied their understanding to the same concept that every other culture all throughout human history was also trying to do. It's essentially trying to map consciousness. So of course, everybody has seen the Yidrasil. And if you haven't, I have some imagery that I'm going to apply here. And so the first one that we are going to talk about is Yidrasil. So I'm going to share the screen right here real quick. Now this is your basic Yiddjer Sil. Right here, okay? This is the tree of life. And a few concepts that you can get, but just by looking at it is that you see the tree branches extend above to the heavens

16:29and the roots extend down below to the underworld. Okay? Now there's a lot that goes into it for sure, but there are some notes that I wanted to kind of build off of this bad boy and we're going to get a deeper understanding of what we're looking at here. So what we have right here is Yiddjer Sil, Yiddjer Sil, which is in the North mythology. So at the center of North Cosmology stands Yiddjer Sil, an immense ash tree whose branches and roots extend throughout the cosmos. The worlds of gods, humans, giants, and the dead exist in relationship to this cosmic structure with places such as Asgard, Midgard, and Hell woven into its geography. Three great roots extend toward powerful cosmic regions while beneath them lie wells associated with fate, wisdom, and primordial forces. At the well of Uruhr, Uruhr, that's a fun word to say, Uruhr.

17:34The norms Uruhr and Varro Andi and Skald shape destiny and tend the tree. So Odin famously hangs himself upon the tree for nine nights, wounded by his own spear, sacrificing himself to himself until he gains knowledge of the runes. So he's sacrificing himself. So if you always see Odin, he's always rocking the the eye patch, right? That sacrifice, he sacrificed his eyeball for the inner eye. That's the symbolism by that. Yeah. So in even author out like Christian within the Bible, I can't remember the exact verse, but it's something along the lines of like, if therefore thine eye be single, then your whole body should be full of light. And what that saying is, if your eye is single, so your one inner eye is full of light,

18:35meaning you have complete expanded awareness of your inner world, right? Then your whole body is now full of light. That light that is beaming from your third eye inward is now going to illuminate the rest of your body and essentially turn you into a goddamn light being. You're essentially like vision at that point. You're just I am, you know, but that's the concept is that you you pluck out one of your eyes, pluck out one of your physical eyes to gain the insight and gain the knowledge and to really bust open the corrosion off of your third eye, which some people say that the third eye or the Pinocland is corroded, right? And so the idea is to bust off all that corrosion, shine that light on there and blast all of the rust and all the corrosion and all the nasty shit off. And that way you're able to see not only the world for what it is, but yourself for what you are in relationship to the rest of the world.

19:36So that's where and we'll see some other concepts here. And there's a lot of different depictions of the Yiddish seal. So a bunch of really cool looking ones, actually, if you can kind of notice here, this is this is one that I'm actually more familiar with. So as you can see down here, you got Midgard. Midgard is where we are. That is our plane of existence, all this right here, right in the center of the tree, which is very, very interesting. Remember the center of the tree, because that's where we are. We are the center of the tree. We are literally Midgard, which is the center of the tree. And of course, you can go all the way up. You can go to Uruhr and Asgard. And then you got below, you got hell down here, the Niffleheim down here. A bunch of words that I really can't pronounce, but I will try.

20:39But anyway, you can see in that there's so many cool looking different kind of concepts up here. But essentially, all right, here's Midgard. This is our flatter thread here, all right? And interesting here on this picture, because you have the snake going all the way around where we are, right? You see this snake? And how he has his tail and his mouth. It's the snake eating its own tail, which is called the Orboros. And that's, it's essentially talking about like, what lives eventually has to die. What dies eventually has to live. And so it's your reality constantly dying and being reborn and eating itself. It's the, it's a very deep concept, but I actually really like it. I got the tattoo on my head. I think like the continuation of everything. Pretty much. Yeah, it's honestly, it's probably like, almost like an ancient

21:41infinity symbol, if you want to look at it like that. I was thinking about the infinity symbol. Right. So down here, so this is the Yadjarsil. Interesting how you got the bifrost, which is the rainbow bridge. If you've ever seen any of the Thor movies, it's the rainbow bridge of the bifrost, which is how they're able to true. That's how they're able to traverse all from Midgard or from Asgard to any of the other worlds is through this rainbow road, this bifrost. It's actually fucking awesome. You know what's actually really interesting is is the concept of the rainbow road and that is what allows them to travel. If you look at the rainbow, we've talked about the symbolism of the rainbow before about how white light, whenever it goes through a, like a diamond or some kind of, some kind of medium, whenever it goes through that medium of a diamond or...

22:45But there's a word for that and I cannot remember the damn term. Anyway, whenever it goes through that medium, it shines and creates this rainbow. Right. Like the white light has to go through that, that, that source. And it, it then expands into this rainbow, right. But all a rainbow is, is just diffracted white light. Like the white light being the pure light, it's the pure source version is of light itself is white light. Only whenever it fractals, it, it turns into this rainbow color. So what's interesting is is that the only way that they can travel from place to place is by on a rainbow road. Imagine that. You're taking all of the fractals of all of the colors of, that makes up this reality and condensing it back into the white light in order to travel. So you're essentially, you're going back to that source oneness and now you have the

23:47ability to travel all the nine realms. It's actually pretty fucking deep. But anyhow, that is, that's Yiddercill, which is really awesome. And moving forward, actually, so as I was saying, he sacrificed himself to himself until he gains the knowledge of the runes, right. But even Yiddercill is not, it's not eternally untouched. So creatures, not at it. So you think about it. Like if you look at Yiddercill as a tree, like a real tree, you're still going to have all your ants, you're still going to have all your rodents and your squirrels and all that shit that are picking away at the tree, right. And even Ragnarok, whenever that happens, like whenever Ragnok, which is like, that's like the end times. It's like the final war of the gods, right. Whenever Ragnarok happens, it'll shake the tree, but the tree will ultimately remain

24:52intimately connected with death, renewal and the continuation of life. Because if you think about it, I'll give you this a little bit of a symbolism here. And we might be going over this in the notes here. But one thing that I thought was very interesting and this is you'll hear this throughout many different cultures. But even whenever that tree dies, right. Like the tree will inevitably go into a deep sleep or even a death for the winter time, right. And then it starts to sprout a little bit again in the spring time. But let's say it doesn't sprout again, but it has released as many acorns or any kind of seeds so that it can continue from, you know, it's original creation, right. That seed, whenever that seed gets planted, the only way that it starts to manifest, mean the only way that it starts to grow is in a completely dark place underground, right.

25:54So that dark place where you start to grow, that might be your subconscious. That might be where you need to do your shadow work. That might be the void or the abyss, right. But that's essentially that is where the idea of you manifesting in the physical realm begins is in the dark under the soil as the seed before you start to sprout. 28:01First of all, I love it because it's very poetic about life in general. I think it's awesome. But it's almost like it's showing you that if you have deeper questions about the nature of yourself and the nature of reality, it shows that like every other culture also had those same questions and they all tried to map it in their own way. You know, so pretty, pretty sick. Now as far as Yidris Hill goes, so you have your basic points that we're going to point to here. Right? So you have the trunk, as you can see right here, you got the trunk of the tree, okay? Which is known as the axis of reality. So Yidris Hill gives a vertical structure to existence. It gives a vertical structure to existence. It's manifesting it into the third dimension. So with this tree, they're not saying it's about the universe being a collection of separate

29:04locations. Even though it looks like it, it looks like, oh, you know, hell, heim and asgard and Yodinheim and hell and all these places in Nephulheim, if you're looking at it and you're taking it literal, it's, you know, you might think that, oh, that's over there and that's over there and that's over there and that's over there, right? In the same way that like we view, you know, like Mars and Jupiter and Neptune and Pluto and we see that as like, oh, that's way over there, right? Yeah. What this is saying is that it's more so that all of the worlds are interconnected parts of a living hole, okay? So nothing is separate. These are not separate locations because they're all still connected to the world tree. It's not over there. It's always right here. Yeah, like if it was an organism, one would be the head, one would be the hand, the other hand, and something like that maybe. That's exactly right. So that would be kind of showing us what the

30:09trunk is showing us. Now, if you go to the roots down here and what you'll see is a bunch of words that I don't know how to pronounce, but Nephulheim and hell, I know those words, but these are where the roots are. So the roots are the hidden world, all right? Now think about, I'm not talking about a hidden world that is, you know, some people say hell or the underworld, like it's literally right under the ground. It's not like that. It's the hidden world. It's the subconscious world. It is the deeper parts of you. So if you look at the roots, so the roots here, essentially they disappear into darkness while sustaining everything, while sustaining everything visible above them. So, you know, most of the time when you look at a tree, you're not really seeing the roots. You might see like maybe one or two pop up around, but that's like the top of the roots. Most roots, they go deep into the ground, right? Oh, yeah. So with the roots, it's, you know, they're not seen,

31:13but they're understood to be there because in order to have a tree, you need to have the roots. Even though they're hidden, everybody knows that it's there, right? A lot like the other side of the river. Hidden, but we all know it's there, right? So like it. So esoterically, this is kind of like an image of the unconscious or the ancestry or death or memory in the invisible, in the invisible causes beneath physical existence. So, and you'll see in a lot of other cultures, whenever they say that whenever your ancestors die, and of course it's prevalent within Norse mythology, but whenever your, you know, your loved ones die, they go to the underworld. So that is within Norse mythology and Egyptian mythology and probably countless others, but it's the underworld. And it's not, it's not meant to be hell. It's not a fiery and brimstone kind of place. It's just

32:15the underworld because the heavens, so you have essentially in almost all of these traditions. You have three basic levels. You have the heavens, you have the physical incarnation or midguard or, you know, the middle plane of existence or what have you. And then you have the underworld. Those are the three main facets, right? But the idea is that whenever you die, you go to what is called the underworld, meaning I believe people in the underworld still have access to, you know, be able to reach out in a way or two. I don't want to say entities, but you know what I mean, they're like the Edgar goers and the taupas and anyway. All right, so I'm not trying to. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but is this plain? Is this talking about like shadow figures and things like that? I mean, I guess it depends on how deep you really want to go with it. So because this is within yourself, correct? It's within the one. Okay, this is this is the

35:28yeah, yeah, this is essentially like if if every single thing in history and moving forward and currently all existed as one physical thing, it would be represented by this tree. This is the this is the manifestation of thought and God or the one or the source or the universe itself. This is everything as one unit and it's given, you know, the the idea that everything is separate, which is an illusion because it's all really one thing like it's almost like saying, well, I'm not my foot. I'm my head. Yeah, it's like, no, you're the whole thing. And so that's kind of the idea of it. But all right, so we got we covered the roots now as far as the wells go. So Odin sacrifice he sacrificed an eye for wisdom at Memeer's well. So I don't know if it's I don't think it's depicted here, but they have a bunch of wells and we'll try and find one that depicts it

36:35well enough. So hard trying to find a good picture these days. All right, right. So I believe this is what we're talking about here. So he sacrifices his eye for wisdom at Memeer's well while the norms operate beside Udors well, wisdom therefore resides beneath the surface and gaining it demand sacrifice. Wow. So it's it's not you're not sacrificing, you know, a baby calf to, you know, beels above. It's not what that's about. Whenever it calls for sacrifice, when ever you sacrifice anything, if every single thing is an illusion, just keep this in mind. If everything is an illusion, whatever you sacrifice is ultimately something that was keeping you hindered to your illusion version of the world itself. So let's say you have an addiction. Maybe

37:38it's, I don't know, I got a, I got a, you know, football addiction. Let's just say, right? And maybe, maybe most of the day, I'm researching football, I'm watching football shows and I can't get enough football. Well, that doesn't leave open a whole lot of time for me to research and understand myself and understand the nature of reality as much as I want, right? So if I'm trying to gain some more of that wisdom, I got to sacrifice something that's getting in the way. And that would be for shits and gigs, you know, my addiction to football, right? Okay. So it's, that's what it's about sacrificing. You're, you're like burning something up and getting rid of it so that you can have more time and more of a capacity to, you know, like learn about other concepts and whatnot. And so it's a broad way of putting it. But that's kind of

38:39what we're talking about. Anyway, so, uh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, and gaining it demand sacrifice. So then the norms which are fate. So your, your fate or just fate in general are the norms. Um, so your, your past and your becoming present and what is owed or shall become a, see, it's like it's trying doing, it's trying to encompass everything. What's in the past, what's becoming, what is present, what is to come present, basically talking about all time, um, uh, are symbolically associated with them and later interpretations, talk about the fate or the norms rather. So reality is continuously being woven rather than simply existing as a finished object. So basically reality itself is something that has existed is existing and will forever exist

39:41that there is no, there's no last page and there is no first page. It's just always existed, right? Which is pretty cool. So that's the fate. Um, and then of course back to Odin hanging from Yiddish, it's essentially an, an initiation through death. So anybody that's ever looked into the story Odin doesn't just learn the runes. He's not just like, Oh, I'm, I'm curious. Let me go find somebody that, that'll teach me this. No, he's all, I'm gonna go, I'm gonna undergo a ritual death. I'm gonna hang wounded with my eyeball plucked out for nine nights before I begin to receive a revelation and that revelation was knowledge of the runes. So, so, so terribly, here's the difference between knowledge and wisdom. And before I even say this, code, what do you think the difference between knowledge and wisdom are? Is there a difference? Is it the same word or are they different? Knowledge and wisdom. Um, I think they're pretty close. They are close. They are close.

40:50However, um, knowledge refers to information or awareness about a subject, right? So, that's you going to school and you learning about a subject, right? And that's how you're gaining knowledge. While wisdom is the ability to apply that knowledge with, uh, with your good judgment and your insight. So, um, knowledge can exist without wisdom. You can have knowledge without wisdom, right? Right. But wisdom involves understanding how to use the knowledge effectively. Okay. So, they're kind of one and the same. You want both. You want both. But, you know, if you, if you could have one, obviously, it's wisdom because it contains both. Um, so that wisdom, uh, that wisdom essentially is your integration of the knowledge. That is you understanding the knowledge deeply to your core and applying it to your life throughout your day. That is, that is,

41:54wisdom, right? So in this concept of the Yiddahsil tree of life, you don't climb the world tree by just accumulating information. That would just be like going to school, right? That's, that's not how you climb this world tree until you finally get, you know, to Asgard or to, you know, to the rainbow bridge or what have you, right? It's not just about learning things. Um, it's, it's one thing to learn something. But the real climb starts with the integration. You essentially climb it by allowing the old self to die. Your old identity needs to die. Your old skin needs to shed because the you that you built up is it's not the truest version of you or reality. It can't be. It might be a facet, you know, and it's not to say that there is any, you know, wrong way of becoming. I think that if you're, if you're interested in, you know, learning how to become a billionaire,

43:00and I mean, essentially you train your mind to think like a billionaire. It's not going to make you a billionaire automatically, but you'll at least be putting yourself on track to do that. The same thing. If you are, you know, trying to apply your mind and, you know, all of your will to learning all the esoteric wisdom, understanding the nature of reality, understanding your, your place in it, then the old you has to die because the old you wouldn't do that. The old you would be doing the old shit that you used to do instead of doing this, right? So the old you, the one that I don't know, the binged watch TV shows endlessly or went out to bars and drinking every night or, you know, just fucking off and not really doing anything with yourself, not you. I mean, that kind of describes both of us actually, but you don't have me, but like, we're not that anymore. And that's because we have a thirst for knowledge. And if I have to pluck out

44:04thine outer eye to turn on the light on the inner eye so that it can shine throughout the rest of thy body, I will. You know, just like your boy Odin. So that is, so you climb the tree by allowing your old self to die. That's the only way you have to, it's, see how every single one of these stories and all these myths and all these concepts, it all, everything is about initiation. And you can see right here, there's different a little bit of it. But you see how interesting this is. So you have essentially Midgard down here if you're looking at the the world tree, right of Yadjarsil. Midgard would be all that's just where everybody's at, on the middle plane or what have you. And then up in the heavens, that's where you have your angel figures and the higher beings and stuff like that. I just think that's so cool. But anyway, let's get a little bit deeper into it. What's the tree wrapped in there in that picture? What's it wrapped in? I don't know. It looks like some kind of some kind of fabric.

47:18Okay, that's just curious. So for the ancient Maya, the cosmos could be represented through a great world tree frequently associated in modern scholarship and living Mayan traditions with the Seba. I hope I'm pronouncing that correctly. It's CEIBA. Its roots reached downward toward the watery underworld. So, see what I'm saying? They're all kind of different. See how they're all a little bit different, right? But anyway, the true concept, it says that the roots reached downward toward the watery underworld, its trunk occupies the helmet, the helmet, the human realm. So the trunk of it occupies the human realm as we saw down here. So if you notice, we can barely see the roots. The roots are just barely above, but obviously they're going to go down under. And in this Mayan concept, down under would be into like where the water surface is,

48:19like where your well water and all that shit goes, right? And so, but the trunk occupies the human realm. So as you can see right here, that would be the human realm. And its crown rises toward the celestial world up here, right? So the world tree imagery appears prominently in Mayan art, including imagery connected with rulers, death and cosmic order. The tree operates as a cosmic axis through which different levels of existence were symbolically connected. So human ritual, kingship and sacred space could therefore mirror the greater architecture of the universe. So what does all that mean? Let's break it down a little bit more. So firstly, you have the roots, which you're going to see continuing concept here, that the roots are always the underworld, okay? Makes sense. But the roots are the underworld. Yeah. Yeah. So the underground is a realm from which

49:26transformation can emerge. Talking about that seed, it has to be in the dark place. It's a little wet. You know, you don't really see anything. It's fucking dark down there. But that is where the concept of creation begins. You know, creation has to first be thought about before it can be manifested. And if you're God, right? So that's kind of the idea. So a seed itself must be buried in darkness before new life appears. So now you move up to the trunk, which, you know, they say stands for humanity or the human realm is the trunk itself. So human beings occupy the intermediary realm. We exist between the ancestors below. So the ant, oh, these are the ancestors below. So that would be the underworld, right? Okay. So we exist right around here. Just, you know, look at these two lines. You got the pyramid back here, but then in this realm is where we exist. And

50:27these are these would be the ancestors in the underworld. See, I'm saying like all the different depictions are a little confusing, but once it's described, you can kind of get a better grip of it. Yeah. So you got the ancestors living in the below and then you're divine celestial powers above. But we exist right here. So everything else here on up is the the help essential, the cosmic help, which, you know, we can all take. Next, we have the canopy, right? Obviously, the canopy is going to be the heavens outstretched. So the branches reach into celestial territory. The tree, therefore, makes the invisible architecture of the universe visible in nature. So that's pretty cool. And this is why the people all throughout human history have been addicted to astrology and understanding the stars and the movements of the stars and all the

51:32eclipses and all the equinoxes and all of the things about the stars because the stars are essentially, you know, they, they, maybe we shine from them. Maybe we are here because of the illumination of the stars that are emanating themselves onto a physical plane, esoterically speaking, of course. But it's interesting to think about it like that. So, next, we have the center. Oh, so this would be the center right here. I'm guessing. And so the center is called the sacred space. The world tree also expresses the idea of a cosmic center. A ritual center can become a miniature version of the center of creation. Let's go. So that would be your probably where you go when you meditate or where you go, whenever you're on the divine medicine, if you will. But that is a miniature version of the center

52:39of creation. So, esoterically, the human being can symbolically occupy the same structure as the tree. So even though we're saying, oh, well, we exist down here and our ancestors are down here and our love, you know, the angels and, you know, the, the cherubs and all of that kind of stuff, they're all up here. But the idea is not to look at that as you're here and there, here and there, there and all this other shit. It's to look at it as you're all one. You are the tree. Yeah. You see what I'm saying? That your access to the heavens and your access to the underworld to the ancestors, you're not going to get access by going to outer space. You're not going to get access to the ancestors by digging a whole underground, right? You're going to get access by, it's all within consciousness and that consciousness is you. And so you have access to these higher

53:40and lower realms. And I love the imagery behind it. So just kind of group it all together here. So the roots, if you're looking at the roots, like what the symbolic meaning of all this is, the roots would be your subconscious, which makes sense. The trunk, so the trunk, which is represented as your body, the trunk is represented by your body. That's right. I'm sorry, I messed that up. So the roots are your subconscious. The trunk is your physical body. The canopy is your waking mind. The center, remember down here, that's the sacred space. So the center or the sacred space is where you transcend or it is the transcendent consciousness. So interesting here that you would think that the highest you can go is the canopy. That's where all the angels and all of the divine beings are, right? You would think that's the place you're trying to get to. But now,

54:43the canopy will be top. Right. Because the place you actually are really wanting to try to get to, if you're on a spiritual path, is to that central area. That is the sacred space. Whenever you can get to that sacred space, now you have access to all of the realms. Now you can have access to the above world and the below world. Because look, if you exist, you know, as the trunk and you're just living in the material world, you know, you're just walking around. Let's say you go walk around, fucking Walmart. I mean, most people aren't going to be able to access angels and ancestors whenever you're trying to do your, your weekly grocery shopping, right? Some people can. But most people are just like, dude, where do they put the fucking eggs in this store? You know, like, God, they always got to put it somewhere. Anyway, but if you're in that deeply meditative spot, then you have access to the higher and lower realms, which it's pretty badass. Um, next, we have the shamanic tree.

55:49All right. So you see it already. So you got Yidr Soh, which is the Norse tree. You got the Seba, which is the, the Mesopotamian tree. And then you got the Siberian shaman tree. Okay. And we're going to go over that. So this would be Siberian and central Asian shamanism. This is just called the shamanic tree or the shaman's tree. Okay. So across a variety of Siberian and central Asian shamanic traditions, trees and poles can symbolize a root connecting earthly existence with upper and lower worlds. During initiation narratives, a future shaman may undergo visionary dismemberment, death and reconstruction before receiving a new spiritual identity. In ritual context, the shaman may symbolically ascend a tree like climb the tree. Um, a ladder or notched or a notched pole during a journey toward the celestial realms.

56:56There, there's going to be drumming and chanting and altered states, which do help transform ordinary ritual spaces into a map of the cosmos. Wow. So a literal map. So you got a little drumming, you got a little chanting and you, you know, you just fucking took a, took a hit off of the, the divine secreted liquid off of the back of a goddamn boofo toad. And now you have a map of the cosmos. 59:10So the shaman can also journey downward towards spirits ancestors or forces associated with the lower world. The sacred tree therefore becomes less of an object of worship than a road through reality. Okay. So in this lower world, it's a little bit different. Everybody has their own concepts of the higher world and the lower world, lower world, you know, heaven, hell, whatever, right? But in the shamanistic worldview, you have the world tree or the axis monday. So the upper world that they talk about is the super conscious. Some people call that your higher self. Some people call it the super conscious, the divine consciousness. What have you? But in the shaman's understanding, the super conscious is the upper world. So soul, that's where you would have soul and history of all human events. And it says the place of divine inspiration and cosmic

1:00:13women, wisdom, cosmic women. I'm here for the two. And the shaman's awareness can transcend time and space. So in that upper world, which of course it would, I mean, you're going to go far beyond time and space whenever you're on fucking DMT dude. Time and space don't exist anymore. That is a concept for humans. And we'll get to the rest of it here in a minute. But this is just a basic depiction of the shaman's tree. But so the tree itself, the shaman's call is essentially spiritual technology. It represents how to travel through the universe. Interesting. I don't see a space X rocket. Right? Because that's what they want you to think. They want you to think, oh, you got to get in a NASA rocket or a space X rocket. If you want to go to the moon, you want to go to Mars, you want to go to any other place? No, no, no. Tell me how,

It doesn't need metal or any kind of vehicle to travel to these places that all of these places you can get to by traveling through the vehicle that is your awareness inside the realm of consciousness. 1:03:18hello, shut eye, catch a couple of these. Um, so all right, then, all right. So you have, you have the tree, which they call the spiritual technology, but you have, so if you're climbing this world tree, that is what's, whenever they talk about climbing the world tree, that means that's altered consciousness. Okay. So each level can be interpreted as a movement away from ordinary perception, whether you're going up or you're going down, you are moving away from your ordinary perception of reality. Makes sense, right? But that climbing would be having that altered consciousness, whether it is through chanting, drumming, meditation, psychedelics, what have you, these are purposeful tools to allow you to ascend the tree, the shamans tree or the world tree. Right. Um, and descending is called confrontation. So whenever you're descending the tree,

1:04:20not none of these concepts are bad, by the way, but just here for what it is. So whenever you're descending the tree, if you're in the middle world, let's say you're, you're the trunk, right? If you're descending, that means you're probably going down to the roots. And, um, it, the roots could mean the underworld where your ancestors and all that stuff are, but we're saying that this tree is us and how do you descend the tree of yourself? And what does that even mean? So that would be confrontation. So the initiate, what, so the initiate would encounter death, your ancestors, your spirits and frightening imagery before you return above the ground, above the roots. So that's that descending. Um, so you're going down and then back up. Well, you, you hope to come back up. Okay, but do you always, do you always always go down? Like you always go down all the way I mean, you have to like, okay, and even in the,

1:05:23uh, in the Christian concepts as well, and like in the Bible, like Jesus went to hell and had a conversation with the devil and all that too, right? And the devil offered him, you can have this, you can have that. The devil is trying to tempt him, which would only keep Jesus down, which would only keep Jesus down in the lower realms, aka the material realms of, you know, all the shit that we can't bring with us whenever we die. And Jesus was all, I'm a pass. All right, you keep that fucking shit for yourself. I don't need material reality. I see it for the illusion that it is. And there are higher realms that I am more interested in, you know, um, basically the devil is trying to tempt him into buying something from the Dollar Tree. And you know, we all love the Dollar Tree, but you know, don't, don't shit and put it in my hand and say it's gold kind of deal. So, but you have to go down under, you have to go into the darker rooms. That's another word

1:06:26for that is your shadow work, right? That is your descending. Um, and in that descending, you have your dismemberment, all right? So your dismemberment would be somebody ripping off your head, somebody ripping off your arms and you know, in your legs, literally you're becoming dismembered. This is part of the drumming and the chanting and some of the words that are going on, you physically feel as if your body is being ripped apart. Um, you know, that's just how they roll. Uh, but it's a good point. In the end, yeah, while it's happening, I'm sure you're thinking that it's the worst thing it's ever happened to you. Sure. Uh, I'm mad. So that dismemberment is your ego death. That is the death of your ego. The character that was you doesn't exist anymore. It barely exists as a memory. Uh, so that dismemberment, it says in some shamanic initiation accounts, they describe the visionary body being torn apart and then and then reconstructed. So whenever they're done

1:07:32ripping you limb from limb, they put you back together. Frankenstein, that shit. Oh, little, uh, will the revolves action a little bit. Yeah. And so the person who returns, once you come back from, you know, that dismemberment in the reconstruction, the person who returns is symbolically not the same person who began. Okay. But how long? I wonder how long that stage lasts for like if that's pretty quick, the dismemberment and the, you know, putting you back together. I imagine that doesn't take that long, but it probably does take a little while. What do you think? Well, I think it's probably just like anything else whenever you're having a bad time, it seems to last a long time. Right, right. But you think it's overall pretty quick. It's probably, I mean, it depends on what kind of psychedelic you're working with, because there are some psychedelics that only last five minutes and then there are other psychedelics that will last 12 to 15 hours. Okay. So you just don't know how long that's going to last.

1:08:37Okay. To you, it feels like infinity in the moment. Like whenever I went to the void, I thought that I just died there and I was, that's how I would exist forever. That's what it makes you feel like in that moment. So yeah, it's pretty fucking scary. But anyway, here's the parallel between the two. So Odin, your boy Odin hangs upside down on the tree and is transformed. Right. He sacrificed his eye. He sacrificed his own body, essentially, for nine whole days on that tree and then was able to gain access of the wisdom of the runes. And so that's how he came out transformed. The shaman climbs the tree and is then transformed. So different cultures, different theology, but a very similar initiation story. But remember, even the shaman has to go and descend so that he can be rebuilt once he's torn apart. And then he can ascend up to the higher realms of reality. So that that upper realm, think about it like this,

1:09:42dude. If you just saw your entire fucking body get ripped apart, you, you are not thinking that you're going back to your body. Like you're thinking, all right, I'm, I now exist as the next stage. That next stage of just being pure consciousness, pure awareness, what have you. And if you were to put a word to that, that would be your super conscious, right? If that's all you exist as, that would be the upper world. So in order to ascend, you have to descend. Okay. The middle world, which is where we are. So that would be the conscious, that would be your conscious mind, right? Like your, your regular conscious mind, our conversation right now is a conscious, conscious conversation, right? So the world we live in would be the middle world. But there is also a non-ordinary aspect to this world. It says, when journeying in this non-ordinary reality, the shaman might come across troubled spirits. Okay. So the shaman, shaman ain't even got to

1:10:48be tripping balls. He can just be in regular conscious reality. As we were saying, not everybody that goes to Walmart is going to be able to talk to spirits and fucking ancestors, but a shaman or another wise initiated or enlightened style of individual is going to be able to see it wherever that because there is no such thing as one, you know, only one reality that all of the realities in the shaman's worldview exist as a giant singular reality. So the upper realms, the lower realms and the middle realm, he experiences all collectively. See what I'm saying? Damn. Yeah. I wonder if there's some symbolism behind that branch. Which one? It looks like it kind of hangs a little lower. Now, this isn't the actual, this isn't like the the the true depiction. This is somebody created. Okay. Okay. Okay. I pulled this up mainly because it had some of the definitions of the higher world, middle world and lower world on it. But back to that lower world, it's coming,

1:11:52it's going to come to no shock to what the lower world is. That is your subconscious. So that is where your destiny and your spirit is. It says it's the home of your power animals, healing and creative powers. So here, the shaman can transform what appears to be enemies into allies. And here, he or she descends into the deepest regions of their psyche. Yeah, it makes sense. I mean, you think about it whenever we, if we do like a, an animal spirit guide, you know, meditation, you're only going to experience that in meditation, in your mind. You know, that's and that would be in the lower world, your subconscious world. So, yeah, pretty freaking awesome. But you see how they're all three of them very similar so far. Right? Yes. Now Judaism, Christianity and Islam all three have their own mystical branch. So you have your Jewish mysticism and usually they are cobalists into the cabala. This is the this is the cobalistic tree of life, but this is the esoteric side of Judaism. Then you move forward, you have the Christian mysticism and then ultimately the the Islamic mysticism, which is called Sufism. So these are the mystical

So as you can see in this depiction right here, you have the kingdom. This is where they say either you or the physical incarnation is that is what is known as the kingdom. Okay. And the further you climb up, you got the foundation and your splendor and your victory. They got a bunch of like weird meanings to all these, but they're all connected. So you have splendor, victory, foundation, beauty, mercy, strength, understanding, wisdom, and finally the crown of Keter. So as we're looking at this, the cobalistic tree of life isn't an ancient mythological tree,

1:17:11exactly like our Yiddirsu. Obviously it doesn't even look like a fucking tree. It looks like a a perforated crystal of sorts. But it is a mystical diagram. It's actually called a terminated crystal. And if you ever have a crystal with two pointed ends, that's called a double terminated crystal. All right. Learned that one. I actually did a crazy trip that I had one time. I had a trip that I literally had a spinning double terminated crystal in between my hands that I was able to manipulate the speed of and manipulate the energy of it was almost like I was just sitting there. I was sitting there. I was tripping fucking balls just sitting on the on the trunk of my car outside in a parking lot. This mom walks by. No, I'm kidding. But I'm sitting out there and I'm just tripping hardcore. And there's this double terminated crystal that I'm seeing like in reality. It feels like you're seeing it for real, right? And I can see it like spinning and I'm at

1:18:15it. Do is the craziest thing. And so ever since then, I was like, I want to learn a lot more about crystals. But anyway, that I wanted to bring that up because this does kind of look like a terminated crystal is what they call it. So, but it's essentially a mystical diagram or a system that represents the Sephiroth in relationships within divine manifestation within the divine manifestation. So in Kabbalah, the infinite divine reality is described through the concept of the Ein Sof. That is this diagram here, which is the limitless or endless divine limitless or endless. Same thing without limits and without end. It is the beginning. It is the end. It's so huge that there isn't a beginning or an end. You have to imagine a beginning and an end and you'll never even come close. But anyhow, the creation becomes intelligible through what is called the

1:19:2010 Sephiroth. As you can see right here, they are numbered one at the top 10 down all the way at the bottom. Those are the 10 Sephiroth, which are attributes or emanations through which divine reality is manifested and related to creation. Kabbalistic diagrams arrange the Sephiroth into the form commonly called the tree of life. At its upper reach, it stands the Ketter or the Crown, as you can see right here. While the structure eventually descends toward Maukut or Maukuth, which is down here, the kingdom, which is associated with the kingdom and manifested reality, which is crazy that you got manifested reality all the way at the bottom. You're like, damn, how high does it go then? These are all of the higher divine emanations of beyond physical incarnation. It goes up and comes back down, right? It exists as a one. Yeah, it's all just one giant thing.

1:20:23So, yeah, you have between these poles, so between the, it's really just one giant pole that connects all of them, right? One all the way down to 10. You've got people you might see that as your spine. And your spine, which is, that's where all of your chakras run from head to toe, from the top of your spine, your head, all the way down to the base of your spine or your ass. But it says, uh, between these poles lie principles, such as wisdom, understanding, mercy, judgment, beauty, foundation, and a few others. So the tree therefore maps the relationship between infinite divinity, creation, and the human encounter with God. This one is, I'm not even going to lie to you, dude. This is probably one of the deepest concepts that we'll ever learn. And so I'm sure what I'm saying is complete gibberish. So a lot of people

1:21:27that's never heard of this before, even I don't fully understand it. Even I like him some kind of fucking mystical master. I know, I know a few. I try to learn as much as I can. But yeah, it's a deep concept. It's like trying to describe all of astrology within 20 minutes. You're never going to write, you know, but we're going to try. So at first we have the crown or keather. So which is it's the highest point approaching divine unity beyond ordinary conceptual understanding. Beyond ordinary conceptual understanding. It has to be experienced. Then you can you know, we should we should start at the bottom. Let's start at the kingdom of 10, the Malkuth. I think we should start there actually. So Malkuth, the kingdom is the manifested realm, the divine, the divine, which is encountered at the level of creation. Basically, everything is divine

1:22:31is really how you should look at everything. Because if everything is one emanation from one divine source, then everything that is being emanated from the divine source would have to be divine. Wouldn't you say? Yeah. In some form or fashion. So, next, you have Yesode, which is going to be your foundation. That's number nine. That is the mediating foundation immediately preceding the material manifestation. So the mediating foundation is Yesode. Oh, interesting. As we go farther, I don't think it's even going to name all of them. It might. I don't know. So that would be Yesode. The next one is Chesed and Guevara. I'm sure I'm borturing these. But Chesed and Guevara. Yeah, I don't know why I just skipped victory and splendor. I guess it was like, not that important. But

1:23:32anyway, oh, it's because I skipped it because I'm fucking special. Teffa red. Where is Teffa red at? Maybe that's oh, right here. So that would be number six, which is beauty. Okay. So the Teffa red or Teffa red. However, you want to say it is the is beauty. And that stands for balance and harmonization. That would be your middle position. It makes sense that it would be in the middle because that's where you're going to balance and harmonize is center. And then you radiate outwardly. Next, you have Chesed and Guevara, which are these two right here. We're talking about numbers five and four. So this is the other on opposite ends, right? You got this one over here on the left, the other one over here on the right. But there's that line. There's that link between the two. So anytime you're talking about a pole, there's extremes at both ends. So at, let's just say to use

1:24:38a simple example, love and hate. They exist on the same pole, which means they can be transmutated because they are one and the same from the same original emotion. You can't hate something without you can't fully hate something without understanding it and maybe loving it at first. That's a very roundabout way of saying what this is trying to say. Anyway, point is is that expansion, it's essentially expansion versus limitation. All right. So look at it like this. Love requires boundaries. Just because you love something doesn't mean you get to suffocate it. Right? Yeah. Force requires compassion. Otherwise, you're going to suffocate them. So that would be your two opposite ends of the spectrum. Then you got Bina, which is up here. That would be your understanding. It shows differentiation and comprehension, which is the giving of structure.

That's the primordial insight or dynamic wisdom. Primordial insight or dynamic wisdom. Wow. And then finally at the top, you have Ketha or Ketha, which is your crown. That's the highest point approaching divine unity beyond ordinary conceptual understanding. That's like too deep from even me to wrap my entire mind around and be real with you. Right. To have the double wisdom and then go up higher. I mean, I can't really imagine where you'd be the thoughts that you'd be having at the time. Yeah, that's that's a little too deep for me. Deep waters. We'll learn it more. I'm sure as the time as time goes on. Next we're going to get into a little bit easier of a concept to understand.

So if you ever see Buddha, Buddha is always depicted as sitting underneath this Bodhi Tree. This is where he found his enlightenment is in meditation underneath a Bodhi Tree. So Buddha's real name is actually Sadhartha Guatama. Buddha is essentially a word or title, a lot like Christ is. It's something to get to. You're not born with it.

1:28:59But anyway, Buddha, otherwise known as Sadhartha Guatama, had pursued extreme asceticism, which is, so asceticism is essentially self-denial. That means you don't give in to any of your wants, any of your needs. If you're hungry, no, you're not. You're horny, no, you're not. You're thirsty, no, you're not. You need shoes because your feet are blistering. No, you fucking don't. That's that's extreme asceticism. That's pushing off all of your, you know, your normal human needs because you know that all you're trying to do is just ascend into enlightenment. That's what Buddha started doing. But I feel like a lot of people don't know that he ultimately concluded that self-mortification would not produce liberation. What does that mean? Basically, just because you turn away from all of the things that makes you human,

1:30:03that's not going to produce some kind of liberation. You're just proving to yourself that you don't need it. That's all you're doing. Right. Okay. Which is helpful. You know, it's good to know that you can go several days without food. It's good to know that you can go years without sex. You know what I mean? Like it would be good for you to personally experience that and know that. But it's not required if you're trying to liberate and ascend. You know, it's like some people will say like only vegans can truly ascend spiritually because you know, one way or another, maybe they see animals as more holy or whatever. I like the idea of going vegan. But if you really think about it, there's nothing that doesn't exist. So no matter what you eat, you are killing the existence and the consciousness of. So whether you're eating a cow or a piece of fucking lettuce, like that lettuce had a life too. And they've proven that by hooking up these little,

1:31:07these little electrical nodes. Have you seen this before? No. Dude, they take like these little, these little clips, these little metal clips and these little metal clips have little wires off of them. And those wires go back into some kind of transistor, some kind of radio or something like that. Right. But once these wires are clipped onto the leaf of, let's say a tree or a bush or something like that or a flower, right. Once that's hooked on, literally the receiver starts getting information from the plants and it comes out as a musical note. What the fuck? Yeah. Literally no worries. So plants are alive. What it'll do is that it'll send some information through its roots through the my cereal, my cereal network, which connects all of the forest underground to all of the trees. And now that one tree is able to send a message to all the other trees to warn of this predator. You gotta be shit, man. That's a real thing. What? They're telling you like, everything is alive. Where were we on this? Okay. So we were talking about asceticism with Buddha and he said self-mortification would not produce liberation. So after accepting nourishment and recovering his strength, he sat beneath a tree at the bowed guy and resolved to remain. He resolved to remain there until awakening was attained. He was like, I am not moving from this tree until I become enlightened. Stay there for a little while. Huh? Power stance. Power stance was like, how many of their fucking

1:37:33get enlightenment or am I not trying? You know what I'm saying? And so he sat into there. He was just waiting, waiting for it to happen. But Buddha's traditions actually describe this Mara confronting him through temptation, fear and challenges to his worthiness. You want to know what Mara is? This is what Buddha was going through as he was sitting underneath that tree. He went in their hard headed. He was like, I'm going to I'm going to achieve enlightenment one way or another, right? But of course, along the way to make matters a little bit more difficult, you have Mara that comes around. Mara is a personification of the forces that hinder your enlightenment, representing internal obstacles such as desire, fear and doubt. So that Mara, it's characterized into like a character or a person, right? But it's really it is everything that is going to make

1:38:34you desire. So let's say you're sitting underneath this tree. All right, I know I said that I was going to sit here until enlightenment, but fuck. A cheeseburger sounds really good right now. You know, that's obviously, you know, an easy example, but that there's your desire. And then you're fear, oh man, what if I sit here forever and I never achieve it? Then I'm just wasting my life and what about my kids and what about my friends and what about my family? Right? That would be that fear creeping in while you sit in there. And then the doubt, man, what have I sit here and nothing ever happens? I'm going to look like a fucking idiot wasting my life away underneath the tree. You know, so that's Mara. That was that's what was coming to Buddha. But he's often depicted as that this Mara character is often depicted as a tempter who tried to distract the Buddha from achieving his enlightenment. So Sadartha, Buddha, remained unmoved and called the earth itself to witness him traditionally represented by touching the ground with his hand.

1:39:40Dude, he said, Mara, you really think you can tempt me? You think I'm going to succumb to your fear and your desire and your doubt and you making me feel like there's some kind of unworthiness? I'm going to tell you to fuck you so hard that I'm going to literally put my hand on the earth and have the earth look at how dumb you are. I'm going to let the earth be here as a witness to show you that I'm not moving. You can do and say and think and whatever all you want, but no. And here's the earth who's going to look at you and say, not today. All right. So anyhow, through profound meditation, he attained awakening and became the Buddha. Do you know what the Buddha means? No, the title, right? Just like Christ, like we talked about earlier.

1:40:41But the Buddha means the awakened one. Like Neo and the Matrix. Even the name Neo is an anagram. So I believe the word is anagram, but an anagram is essentially it's a rearranging of letters to create the same word. So Neo is the one. Remember they kept on saying that he was the one, but his name was Neo. Okay. Oh, any, any. Oh, right. He was the one all along. But that so he's the awakened one is the Buddha. So the tree beneath which was occurred or which this occurred. Oh, I'm sorry, I'm fucking this all up. The tree beneath which this occurred became known as the Bodhi tree permanently associating the tree with enlightenment. So firstly, there are three parts to this. There is the, there's the roots. So that would be your

1:41:41grounded awareness because awakening doesn't require escaping physical existence. Just like Buddha found out he was like, dude, I don't need to like swear off dairy. I don't need to swear off all of this shit in order to become enlightened. This is just part of being a human. So that is the grounded awareness. The whether if you can say that I swear off all this and I swear off all that and that's good. You're teaching yourself something, but it's not going to help you transcend. You know, it's you exist as a physical being. You're going to do physical things. So that would be your roots that you're grounded awareness. Mora, which is the illusion and attachment. So esoterically, Mora can be read psychologically as everything consciousness mistakes. Everything consciousness mistakes for the self. So your consciousness as you're sitting underneath

1:42:42that tree would be so that fear, the desire, the pride, the craving, the identification, you're viewing that as you, right? All of these lower kind of emotions and attitudes and figures in your mind of the fear and the desire and the pride and all that other shit. You're saying, that's me. I associate with that. But ultimately that is the illusion. Mora is the illusion. Yeah. And finally, the earth, the earth touching gesture, which is the embodiment. So the Buddha, rather than pointing toward heaven to prove his enlightenment, he touches the earth. Shout out to Buddha, dude. What a fucking stud. Right. Oh, look, this is actually this is the Mora. So you see all these figures all around him. So you got the snake. Okay. Okay. So all these figures all around him. These are all of the things

1:43:45that are telling him, you can't do this. You're incapable of doing it. I'm coming to attack you. All of this shit. All of these are representations of the illusion in his mind. Wow. Isn't that crazy? That is super cool. It's just pretty cool that even Buddha had to go through some lower level shit like that. Yeah. Brings out the human at him. So next, we have Hinduism. We only got two more after this. It's going to get, oh, it's already awesome. But anyway, so this is the Hindu tree. Oh, life. That's a weird looking one, isn't it? Yeah. It's like up off like the roots start up in the air. It's called the inverted osvatha tree. It's an inverted tree. I didn't even see that it was flipped upside down. Yeah, you got the leaves down here at the bottom and the roots at the top. Yeah, let's see. Actually, most people would say that this is the most esoteric tree of

1:44:51all the trees that we've mentioned so far. Wow. This is the deepest one. So I feel like I don't know anything about it yet, but I just already feel that vibe that it is. I'm sure I'm butchering the terminology here, but as as Vatha, that's what it looks like. But this tree is called an osvatha tree whose roots are above and branches extend downwards, which as you can see right here, it's inverted, right? So its leaves are associated with the Vedic hymns. So the hymns, the songs, right? The leaves are while its branches spread through the realms nourished by the qualities of material nature. Think about that. It's a brain teaser here. So the branches are spread through the realms nourished by the qualities of material nature. That's an interesting one to meditate on. But anyway, additional roots extend downward into the

1:48:01human world, binding beings through action and attachment. All right, Krishna, as you can see right here, this is Krishna. Krishna explains that the tree's true form, beginning and end, cannot be easily perceived from within ordinary existence. The seeker, so the seeker of truth, you or me or anybody listening is instructed to cut down this deeply rooted tree using the powerful weapon of detachment. Having done so, the seeker searches for the supreme state from which there is no ordinary return. Wow, where we go from here. All right, so what does it all mean? The roots above. So the roots are above here. This is just one depiction of it. But the roots are above. That's the source. Believe it or not, the root is the source. A lot of people say, well, you need to get out of that root

1:49:04chakra. You're just so concerned with your root chakra. No, that's the source. According to Hinduism. That's where everything happens. Reality originates somewhere beyond its visible manifestation, which makes sense. Right? So the branches, the branches below, down here, are the manifested existence. Manifested existence. So humans, cars, trucks, birds, that's the manifested existence, that's the branches below. What we perceive around us is downstream from something deeper. So now, let's go on to the leaves. What do all the leaves mean? The leaves are the sacred knowledge. Each leaf, each leaf is a piece of sacred knowledge. So it says, Revelation appears upon the branches of manifestation while pointing toward its unseen root. Whoa. Ah, pointing towards unseen root. I

1:50:11love it. Then you have your secondary roots. I guess we would be these, your secondary roots, would be these right here. Yeah, that's crazy. Yeah, it's so crazy. It looks like they're just, it looks like it's the upside down, literally, like from stranger things. But so the secondary roots are your karma and your attachment. That's what's binding you here in this material manifestation. So human beings become entangled in manifestation. You're entangled now. You got all of these secondary roots wrapped around you because of your karma and your attachments. Then there's the acts. So the acts that whenever you're trying to access all of this, as it said earlier, you're never going to be able to see all of it at one time. It's too much, it's too big. It extends from beginning to end, right? So you need to mentally go in there whenever you see even a part of this tree in meditation, you're supposed to take an axe and start

1:51:15chopping away. And you taking that axe and chopping away is represented as you detaching. So you're now detaching from all the things that are binding you here to this material illusion. Very cool. So liberation means severing our mistaken identification with temporary manifestation. Everything is temporary. Why are we so attached? It makes no sense. You know, can't bring nothing to the other side. You come in alone, you go out alone. Yeah. All right. Very cool. A lone entry. Alone as in, you know, you're not bringing material possessions from one place to another. But so think about a true. Okay, this is interesting. So think about a tree that is reflected upon water. Okay. The reflection of the tree appears to be upside down. But also, terribly, that creates an incredible question. What if physical reality is the reflection

1:52:22rather than the source? It's the reflection of the source. Material reality is being emanated from a source. So you just look at like, remember when we did the, when we were talking about the Pink Floyd album cover with the white light going through and then the pyramid. Yeah. Yeah. Going through the pyramid and then coming out the rainbow. Right. What it's saying is is basically, there is one pure white light and that pure light white light has gone through the pyramid through that fractal and turned all of reality into, you know, you and me and everybody that we know and all the things that we see and all that kind of stuff. But ultimately, we're all just a, a, an emanation of one light. All right. So the second to last figure that we're going to get to is in Mesopotamia called the sacred tree.

1:53:28So in ancient Mesopotamia and especially neo-Assyrian art, it repeatedly depicts elaborate stylized trees surrounded by kings, supernatural figures and protective beings. One famous form is often called the Assyrian sacred tree. Although ancient texts do not conveniently provide us with a single definitive explanation of every component of it. Winged supernatural figures can appear beside it, performing ritual gestures while royal imagery places the tree within scenes of divinely sanctioned order. Scholars that propose connections with fertility, kingship, cosmic order and divine blessing. But its precise meaning remains debated. Of course. I mean, you're talking about a long time ago. But Mesopotamian literature also contains important sacred plant and tree imagery, including traditions surrounding Inana, shout out to our home girl, who had to strip all the way naked in order to be able to find herself or Ishtar and the Halupeu

1:54:30tree. What survives, therefore, suggests a powerful relationship between vegetation, divine order, fertility and sacred authority without giving us one simple Mesopotamian world tree doctrine. So what it all means is, and as you can see right here in the depiction, this is that world tree that they're talking about. So the tree is order that emerges from chaos, which is a... I'm here for the chaos magic. I think it's just the coolest one. But it's the recurring symmetrical tree that can be interpreted as the ordering principle of reality. The ordering principle, because without the ordering principle, there would only be chaos. So they are working to build some kind of divine order from the chaos itself through the tree. Then there's the kingship, which is the mediator between worlds. Almost look at it as your Hermes or your thoth or the

1:55:33magician. It's the mediator between worlds. I mean, I guess if you're a Catholic, that would be your priest or your Pope. That's the mediator. Or if you're Christian, I guess that would be Jesus. But its association with rulers can suggest that the king standing at the center of ordered reality, mediating divine authority and earthly civilization, which obviously you go back in the Bible. Jesus was basically calling everybody else whenever he goes, are ye not gods? That's because earlier in the Bible and the Old Testament, God was basically saying that the kings of this world are essentially the Elohim, the gods of this world. That's usually because the kings were the center. The reason civilization was was able to be put in order. That would be the mediator between worlds, the worlds of order and chaos.

1:56:43Next, you have the vegetation in this depiction right here. You can actually see one of them is holding a pine cone and you can see several stocks of wheat and obviously the tree and everything else like that. But vegetation, it just stands for death and rebirth. Vegetation disappears. It returns. It produces seeds. It dies and it grows again. The tree becomes one of humanity's oldest natural teachers that life produces death, death produces life. And the seed contains the next tree. Oh, I love it. All right, we're going to go on to the last one here. But isn't it interesting how they're all basically talking about the same thing in one way or another. It says trees held several sacred associations in ancient Egyptian religion with the sycamore fig becoming particularly connected with divine protection and nourishment. Goddesses, including hathor and nut. I don't know if her name is nut. That would be pretty unfortunate. Maybe it's new to, I don't know, but it looks like nut. So hathor and nut could be associated with sacred trees and depicted emerging from them. Emerging from the sacred trees. Okay, that's why you got, I don't know if that's hathor or nut.

1:59:52But anyway, they're emerging from this tree of life. So even in funerary imagery, a tree goddess may extend food and water toward the deceased. Wow. So the image places the tree at a threshold where the dead receive sustenance while continuing their journey beyond ordinary earthly existence. That's crazy. That would be maybe a little bit of that mana. But trees could consequently represent regeneration, divine motherhood, nourishment and renewed life, which makes sense why people, you know, they call earth like gaya or mother gaya or mother earth in that sense, because it's giving nourishment. You know, think about how many, how much fruit, how much all of everything comes from the earth. That's how we receive nourishment, that nourishment, which our initial

2:00:52nourishment does come from the mother, whether you're in the womb or even whenever you're out of the womb, you got the nourishment from the teeth. Right. So that is the idea of the goddesses that would be coming out of these mystical trees. But rather than functioning exactly like Yadjarsil's map of multiple worlds, the Egyptian sacred tree becomes a living threshold where the divine meets the dead. Just like we were talking about the Egyptian book of the dead, the Tibetan book of the dead, I found it. I have the Egyptian book of the dead in my closet. I tried reading it. I was like, that's in a language that is hard to read. It's readable, but it's it's pretty dense. But all right. So just to go back over this. So what all this means? So the tree in this image is represented as the divine mother. It feeds the soul. The water that is being represented is the restoration. So the dead must be sustained through transformation. So water, nourishment,

2:01:58that is giving nourishment to the dead so that they can continue on their journey. The fruit represents immortality and regeneration. What grows from the tree becomes divine nourishment. What grows from the tree becomes divine nourishment. Wow. That is that is what that's that's quite the term. It just reminds me of that damn story. What was the name of that story? We're basically me and Sean covered it very early on in the show. But basically if you if you had a seed, let's say an apple seed or what have you? Let's just say you have an apple seed in your mouth. And I'm trying to remember. I'm so close to remember what the name of that is. But anyway, the anesthesia method there it is. So in the anesthesia method, basically you take this seed and you hold it up against the the star light and the moons and or the moon rather and let it receive

2:03:00all that light from the night sky. And then you put it in your mouth and you soak it up with your saliva. Then you spit it back out into your hand, shine it again up under the moon light and the stars and then planted. And whenever you plant that, this is the anesthesia method. But whenever you plant that seed, a new tree will grow. And because that seed is so familiar with you, your DNA, all your chemistry and everything because it's soaked up all your saliva. Now whenever that tree grows and it's able to produce fruit, let's say this apple from these apple seeds, whenever you eat that apple, it is going to be every it's every medicine that your specific body needs in order to heal. Man, because the way in which that happened was it was it was literally specifically made for you to heal your body. Because the DNA of that seed merged with the DNA of your saliva. Yeah, this saliva and the ground for sure. With the sunlight too. Interesting.

2:04:04Yeah. Yeah. But that's why I think that it's interesting right here because yeah, well, why I think it's interesting is because it's saying that essentially the tree is the divine mother. So if that seed grew into that tree that would then give you an apple that would heal you of all your ailments, wouldn't that be nourishment from a motherly kind of figure? Yeah. You know, I would say, oh yeah. So, uh, next we have the shade. So the shade or the protection of the tree. And if you think about it in Egypt's desert environment, the symbolism is a flourishing tree that offered literal refuge and life. You know, sometimes it could be 20, 30 degrees cooler in the shade than out there in the in the hot as desert sun. I would imagine. So that tree was providing a little bit of protection literally, but also symbolically. And so the goddess emerging from the tree is

2:05:06spirit within the matter. Think about that. So that you, the you identify with whenever you're deep in meditation, that would be the goddess. But whenever you come back out of meditation and you're back into the physical realm, now you're the tree. Oh, shit. Yeah. So now we're going to, we were showing the picture of the one with the water you were talking about it was showing the water indicate something. I'm not really seeing the water in this picture. Was that a different picture? Are you just going through something else? Uh, well, that's what I'm saying. Like, it's hard to come across because this is like the original one. And it's okay. So you might see the water right here. I don't know. The the old Egyptian caveman art is really hard to really break down, but some of these newer concepts like this one helps describe it a little bit more because these are supposed to be figs, which are the fruits of that tree. And this would be your goddess emerging

2:06:13from the tree as the spirit. But the goddess is only the spirit of the tree. It's not the tree itself. Just like we are the spirit of this body. We're not just the body itself. Yeah, that looks just like it. Oh, wow. You even got the snake raid here. You always got a snake around the tree every time, just like you just so had the same thing. So anyhow, all right, we're going to stop sharing here for a second because I want to bring up how we can kind of group all of these together because they all seem very similar, not exact, but they all seem very similar. But if we strip away all the names, forget Odin, forget Buddha, forget the Kabbalah, forget the Maya, right? Forget all of it. You sift through it. You take that you take that strainer. We don't need wet noodles. We want some dry noodles. And what's left? Well, you have the roots of the tree

2:07:16that the roots represent the invisible. The roots exist. You know, they're there, but you normally can't see them. They're the ancestors. That's death, the unconscious, the source, the memory, the unseen spiritual world. Everything becomes everything visible becomes, I'm sorry, everything visible above ground depends upon something invisible underneath it. All right. So that could be taken literal and esoteric, really, if you want to think about it. So you can't, you can't produce like you can put on a show and, you know, make, make yourself out to be a type of person, right? Like people might see surface Cody, but nobody knows deep Cody, like deep Cody does, right? And you know that there's always a deeper aspect of yourself, even whenever you're talking to just regular, any day people, right? Like, yeah, that, that surface

2:08:19level, you is what's helping you get through this reality. Because if you said everything that was at the deeper core of yourself, you probably wouldn't make it very far, right? So it has to be invisible, but so esoterically, the invisible produces the visible and all has to emerge from something. Then you got the trunk of the tree. So you have the roots. Now you got the trunk, which is the human experience. The trunk is the human experience. The trunk exists between worlds. It is grounded below, but it reaches above. That's us. We are physical organisms rooted in the material world while possessing consciousness that is capable of contemplating eternity. We're capable of that. Okay. Well, I think a normal person might be scared, but I see that as a good omen saying that we're we're we're hitting on all cylinders here. Oh, yeah, dude. That's why I left

2:11:29the driver's seat open. That's like the passenger seat. Come on in. Come on in. Take the wheel. But yeah, we are the middle world. That would be the the trunk. And so going out to the branches of the tree, the branches are the one becoming many. So there's that one consciousness that decided to become many. So that one consciousness decided to become Cody. That one that one consciousness decided to become Jonathan that one consciousness decided to become you know, Sarah that is sitting in her car on her way to work listening to fucking metamistics right now. That's right. Just saying like it became everything. The one became many. That is the branches of the tree. So one trunk becomes hundreds of branches. Each branch appears separate.

2:12:30Yet trace every branch backward. And eventually they all become the same tree. And that's almost a perfect a perfect metaph, a perfect mystical metaphor that the one becomes the many. So one source could become many gods, many people, many religions, many lives, many experiences. But follow everything backward toward its root. And separation begins to disappear. I love this deep shit. Me too. Yeah. Yeah, this is a but it rings true in your mind. Oh, whenever you hear stuff like this, right? It does. It's like I can't get enough of it. So now let's go to the fruit. The fruit of the tree is the experience. So the tree does so much more than just exist there. It produces something. Assoterically, consciousness enters manifestation

2:13:32and produces experience. Consciousness enters manifestation to produce experience. Think about that. Man, I'm trying. I can't write my head around that. Say that one more time. So consciousness that you that you experience in meditation, that's just pure consciousness. Look at it like that. Right? It decided to enter manifestation, enter the material world to create this material body to allow you to produce an experience, a singular experience, a narrowed experience, an experience of the many, but not the one. So the consciousness enters manifestation and produces experience. It produces love and fear and loss and sex and creation and suffering

2:14:35and joy and death. But inside the fruit is yet another symbol, which is the seed that the end contains another beginning. That seed that seed is consciousness itself. If you look at it like that, that seed is consciousness itself. It hasn't grown. It hasn't manifested yet. But inside that seed, everything becomes experiential. Everything becomes existence. So it's pretty cool. But anyhow, moving on to death. So let's say the tree dies or it goes away for the winter or maybe it withers. What have you? Death is just another word for transformation. So the tree appears to die, but then it returns. Leaves may fall, branches decay, seeds disappear underground, then life emerges again. Human beings watch this cycle for thousands of years. So it shouldn't surprise us that trees

2:15:39become connected with ideas of regeneration, immortality, resurrection and rebirth. So the tree teaches something incredibly simple. What disappears is not necessarily destroyed. It just changes form. Okay. I love it. So look at it like this too. The tree is the human. Symbolically, the roots are your subconscious. The lower trunk is your physical body. The heart or middle of the tree is your emotion. The upper trunk is your conscious mind. The branches are your expanded awareness. And the crown of the tree is the divine consciousness. And our own biology creates an interesting visual analogy as well. We have a central spinal axis, our nerves branch outward, our blood vessels branch outward. Neurons possess, possess branching, they possess branching

2:16:45dendrites and our lungs contain branching structures. So even without claiming some supernatural biological connection, branching patterns repeatedly appear within the human body. You ever seen like the brain in the map of the neurons? Or have you ever seen like your veins spread all throughout your body? Those veins are all coming from one source. That's your blood that is pumping all throughout your body. But it all comes back from, it all all roads lead back to the heart if you're a blood vessel. And so that's what it's saying that even the story of the tree is very similar to the story of the human body. But it looks, even looks almost identical. So perhaps the world tree became such a powerful spiritual symbol because humans recognize

2:17:46something about it, something about themselves in it in the tree, which makes sense. So here's the big question though. Every single one of these concepts, all eight that we brought up,

2:19:50they all talk about the same thing. The nature of reality, your consciousness and death. It's just a repeating cycle. And each discovered that the tree was almost a perfect symbol for all three. Think about it even in the River Sticks episode. That was just showing something that we had to cross, right? The crossing that barrier on the other side. But the world tree is like what do we have to climb? So there's climbing, there's crossing, but it's all just symbolism for death, death, death, dying and then regenerating and all of the everything in between and everything, everything after. So perhaps the deepest esoteric answer is to all of this is we don't have to cross anything. We don't have to climb anything. There's just nothing that the roots, the underworld, the middle world and the heavens were all within the same tree the entire time.

2:20:51You didn't have to climb it. Didn't have to go under it. Didn't have to go around it or anything. Every single experience is the whole tree having that experience and in of itself. So it's you might think that you're reaching enlightenment whenever you get to the top of the tree. But enlightenment is actually realizing that you were the whole tree all along. There we go. That's what we got. So, Code, tell me what you think about this world tree. Did it teach you a thing or two? Sure did. And like you were saying, some of it kind of just rings true when you hear it. You're like, okay, I feel that. You could just vibe with it a bit. You're just like, yeah, I can feel that. I see that. And a lot of it feels familiar, even though I have never heard it before. So like in that same way. But all together,

2:21:52man, all that stuff is very interesting. I swear we could just go on and on for days just talking about different stuff like that. Oh yeah. Yeah. Well, and that's what the ancient mystics of old would say that that's what that's that noses. You know, because noses is something it's like discovering knowledge within yourself through some kind of experience that you don't know why it's true, but you know that it is. You don't know how you got it. But just for some reason, the answer came out and it's so happened to be inside of you. And you just like revealed some kind of cosmic knowledge within yourself. And okay, that's just the coolest way of looking at it, I think. So yeah, I really enjoy this. And I think if anything, it just kind of shows I think there's a lot of people that like to get hung up on this. This is the truth or no,

2:22:53this is the truth or that's the truth. I'm like, dude, the answers are literally everywhere. Everybody's basically talking about the same thing. If you just open your eyes enough to be able to see that everything is everything, whether it's the Egyptians, whether it's the Christians, whether it's the Jews, whether it's the Islam, whether it's the witches, whether it's, you know, the fucking magicians or what have you? Everybody is using language that is basically saying the same thing if you're able to zoom out far enough. Right? Yes. So here even trees. So interesting that we got a card that came out and what we got is the night of cups. As you can see right here. Interestingly, there are trees in the night of cups. But the night of cups a night rides on a white horse and holds out a golden cup as if he bears a message from the

2:23:55heart over his armor. The night wears a cloak covered with images of fish, the symbol of water, consciousness and creativity. His helmet and boots are winged, a symbol of an active and creative imagination and an appreciation for beautiful things. Unlike the night of ones or the night of swords, the horse, the horse and the night of cups is not charging forward, but instead moves slowly and gracefully, giving an air of calmness and peace. The horse represents power, energy and drive. And the color white is a symbol of purity, spirituality and light. So the background is mostly barren, except for some trees far away and the river that flows through, symbolizing the power of emotions and imagination to create a new life force, even where it may seem that there is none. Well, deep one. And yet is I like it. Yeah, so basically the night of cups is creativity,

2:25:00romance, charm, imagination and beauty. Wow, what an interesting way of looking at it. That's a good card for this for this deck right here because I feel like, you know, Jesus, the people above me are, it's like midnight right now and I feel like they're partying, which would make sense. It is Saturday. So when you talk about your terror card, though, talking about, you know, moving with patience and grace, you know, I can't think of a better way to do that than just in lights keep turning off on me. Then by climbing these trees or one of these trees. Yeah, yeah, it's the slow climb because it doesn't really matter. There is there is no race because, you know, all of divinity, people like to think that like, oh, I'll be able to talk to God

2:26:05whenever I die. Like, do you really, do you want to wait that long, dude? You know, like, I'll be able to experience heaven whenever I die. It's like, you want to go that long without experiencing that. You can experience it here. Everything is an emanation of the one, including the material reality, including you. You can achieve these higher, these higher states by going deeper within yourself and understanding that reality is a mirror of you. And it's hard to really encompass. It's hard to really integrate into your life. But if you can begin to become a little bit obsessed about the concept and begin applying it to everything, you start to see it. You start to see it. And then you start to see that, you know, like we were talking about Buddha sitting underneath the Bodhi tree. And there was Mora that was essentially trying to prevent him from reaching that enlightenment. You know, talking about how Buddha was, you know, he had that fear and he had, you know, unworthiness

2:27:08and all the doubts and everything. Those are, you can literally just look at your outward reality. And anytime somebody says something about you, how you react is how you actually think about yourself. Because if something or someone triggers you, it's usually because there are deep, recessed parts of yourself that also question your own validity. Okay, that makes sense. This is the only reason why you get pissed off. Right? Like I'll give you an example. You know who your mother is. We share a mother. We came out of the same womb. Okay? We're wombies. We're womb mates. All right. If somebody told you that somebody you never met, right? Some random person just comes up to you on your street and says, your mother is not even your mother. Like you, you think that's your mom, that ain't your mom. You'd be like,

2:28:09get the fuck out of here. You crackhead. I know that's my mom. I grew up with my mom. There's pictures of my mom holding me as a baby as she came out or as I came out of her. Right? Right. It's not, it's not going to trigger you. Now, because you know the truth. That's why. But if somebody is coming at you for any other thing that maybe you like to put out on the surface that you think that you got it covered and that it's all taken care of and you have a pretty good idea about whatever it is. Right? And then you become triggered at that. It's usually because that's some kind of shit talking that you probably already do to yourself. And so whenever somebody else does it, it's like, my God, I can't get away from it. Not only my talking shit on my own self. Now I got the outside world that's also mirroring my own inner world. Mm. And so it's all, you can look at it all as a test. But there, I don't believe that there is

2:29:10any pass or fail. Like, I don't think that there is a pass or a fail to this life. I think that everything happens as it should. Everything does. The idea of perfection is a myth. It does not actually exist. The only way perfection exists is whenever we stop emanating and we go back to being the one light. That's perfection. But any emanation, any outward emanation, anything that you look at is going to at least seem on the surface level as if it is a fractal of the entirety of the true source of light. Even though it's not, it's not, it's just, it's surface level seems like that. But whenever you start to become a little bit more awakened as the Buddha did and as he was moving on past Mora and holding down the earth and saying, you know, mother Gaya, get a

2:30:11load of this guy talking shit, right? You can then be like, you can see the divine and literally everything. You'll be able to look at a grain of sand and be like, wow, you're part of the entire thing. That's crazy. A fucking grain of sand. Now you can look at, look at an ant, look at, you know, little kids or just workers at Walmart. No longer is that just a worker at Walmart. That is part of everything. That's crazy that we exist at the same time. Yeah. That we decided the, the, the Almighty we or the Almighty I that was the one source decided to fractalize itself into physical creation and give us the illusion that everything and everyone is separate from us. But the true us is everything. So there is no separation. So just going back to the tree of life. We might

2:31:12look at the branches, the leaves, the roots, the trunk. What have you? The crown almost as if these are places that we got to get to. But the entire tree and all of its facets of itself is the one. You know, like the source is not fucking up by becoming Cody. It's not, it's not a mistake. God or the source of the universe or wherever that one emanate, the original source of all emanation is, you know, it decided to become Cody for a little while. Thank you. You know, cool shit.
