Forgiveness in this context isn’t pretending there’s no danger. It’s refusing to let the danger define your soul.

In the context of the New Testament and the teachings of Jesus Christ, forgiveness is defined as the total cancellation of a moral or spiritual debt, resulting in the complete release of the offender. 

Rather than a passive feeling, Christ defines forgiveness as an intentional, unconditional act of the will driven by grace and mercy. Forgiveness is about what you do with your heart; justice is about what you do with reality.
