About this episode

“Episode 4202, breathe where you are. [♪ OUTRO MUSIC PLAYING [♪ Mom's, it's time to rediscover, rejuvenate, and renew who you are in mind, body, and spirit.”From the transcript

There's something inside most of us that kicks in the moment life starts pressing down. When the weight shows up — the uncertainty, the waiting, the silence that feels too long — our first instinct is to push. To claw. To hustle our way back into motion because at least movement feels like progress. But what if the bravest thing you could do right now is simply breathe where you are? What if this season isn't asking you to perform your way out — but to be present right where you've been planted?

Now, that may sound counterintuitive. We live in a world that celebrates output. The grind. The glow-up.

And while there's nothing wrong with working hard and reaching for more, there are moments — sacred, holy, often uncomfortable moments — when God whispers something we don't want to hear: Stay.

Not because He's forgotten you. Not because the dream is dead. But because He's doing something in the stillness that striving could never accomplish.

Think about a seed for a moment. When it's buried beneath the soil, it doesn't thrash. It doesn't fight its way to the surface on the first day. It breathes. It absorbs. It lets the darkness do what the darkness was designed to do — break open the shell so something new can begin to grow. The seed doesn't perform for the soil. It simply surrenders to the process.

And that's what this season is asking of you.

Maybe you're in a place right now where nothing seems to be moving. The prayers feel like they're hitting the ceiling. The breakthrough you were so sure was coming hasn't shown up yet.

And every day you wonder if you should be doing more, trying harder, pushing further. But here's what I want you to hear today: stillness in the soil isn't defeat. It's obedience.

Psalm 46:10 says, "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."

Notice it doesn't say be still after you've figured it out. It doesn't say be still once everything makes sense. It says be still — period. And then know. Know that He is God. Know that He hasn't lost control of your story just because you can't see the next chapter.

The K.I.S.S. ~ Breathe where you are!

Being still doesn't mean being passive. It means being present. It means letting your mind and your heart come into agreement instead of letting anxiety drive you into action that God never asked you to take.

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is stop producing. Sometimes the deepest growth happens when your hands are open, not clenched.

As Priscilla Shirer so beautifully put it, "Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is stop striving and let God hold you."

Let that sink in for a second. Allow yourself to be connected back in the arms of a God who has never once been in a hurry about your becoming.

So breathe. Create your now. Not because there's nothing left to do — but because this pause is part of the plan. The stillness isn't stealing your momentum. It's anchoring it. It's connecting your mind and your heart so that when the time comes to move, you move from wholeness, not from panic. You move because you're led, not because you're afraid of falling behind.

You don't have to perform for God. You don't have to prove to Him that you're worthy of the next season. You just have to be — fully, honestly, imperfectly present — and trust that He is doing the rest beneath the surface where your eyes can't reach.

This is your permission slip today.

  • Stop clawing.
  • Stop striving.
  • Stop measuring your worth by how fast you're moving.

Breathe where you are and let the God who planted you tend to what's growing. The bloom is coming. But right now, the roots need room to stretch. And roots only grow deep when you stop pulling yourself up to check on them.

You're not stuck. You're not forgotten. You're being held. And that, sweet friend, is exactly where you need to be.

"Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!!"

[♪ OUTRO MUSIC PLAYING [♪ Happy every day! It's Friday, June. You're getting excited, good excited, I don't know about you, but come on. Whew! Sometimes you just need to have, like, those short breaths, sometimes you need the long breaths. Well, today I feel like I just need to breathe. The schedules are crazy, maybe you're feeling it too. It is the first day of a brand new month, and my grandbabies are excited! Yes, as they say, it's our birthday month, grandma, and I'm like, yep, here it goes, and actually for us, it really starts in September, and it goes on. But we kick it off with our anniversary in August, and then it just loops all the way around until we hit, I think, technically June, in all of our immediate family. Extended family goes year round all the time. But, yeah, that's kind of where we're at. So, you know, you get into that fall hustle almost, and it's great, but it's not. I mean, did you watch hockey? What an incredible start to the brand new season, I mean, it was intense a couple times. The horns just kept going off, and I was doing some work, and I'm like, another score, go!

You know, I just kind of, anyway, I couldn't be too loud because the heavy was sleeping, so I had to be quiet. He gets up very early, I sit very late, because there was a Las Vegas game on, did you watch it? Okay, anyway, I digress, but it's all right, because sometimes we just need an escape, right? Because so much is happening, and there's something inside most of us, right, that kicks in the moment life starts pressing down. When the hustle is too much, right? When the weight shows up the uncertainty, the weighting, the silence that feels so long, too long, actually, and our first instinct is to push, to claw, to hustle our way back into motion, because at least movement feels like progress. But what if the bravest thing you could do right now is simply breathe, where you are? What if this season isn't asking you to perform your way out, but to be present right where you've been planted? Now, I know that may sound a little counterintuitive,

I get it, we live in a world that celebrates output. I've already been talking about it, right? And some people would say, well, that's a distraction, yes, it can be a good distraction, but it also can be a bad one. That's why it feels counterintuitive, because it's all about the grind, the glow up, the fun, sometimes even the misery, why because we know it too well? And while there's nothing wrong with working hard and reaching for more, there are moments, sacred, holy ones, often uncomfortable moments, when God was for something we don't want to hear. Stay. Simply stay. Not because He's forgotten you, not because the dream is dead, not because He doesn't have something in store for you, but because He's doing something in the stillness that striving could never accomplish. Sometimes we try to be everything to everybody at school, right, with your kiddos going back, with the grandbabies.

Oh, I got to make sure we got this. Are you already planning for Christmas? Wait, maybe you just need to wrap the gifts because you're already that far ahead. I want you to think about a seed for a moment. Sometimes we think about something so, so small. It puts things in perspective. And when that seed is buried beneath the soil, it doesn't thrash. It doesn't fight its way to the surface on the first day. It breathes, it absorbs. It lets the darkness do what the darkness was designed to do. Break open the shell so something new can begin to grow. The seed doesn't perform for the soil. It simply surrenders to the process. And that's what the season is asking of you. Maybe you're in a place right now where nothing seems to be moving. Or maybe you feel like, nope, I'm juggling the bananas, the apples, the oranges, oh, and I've added plums because it's a fall. And you feel like the prayers just are hitting the ceiling.

The breakthrough you thought for sure was coming. Nope, didn't happen yesterday. And every day you wonder if you should be doing more. Try and harder, pushing further. But this is the thing. Stillness in the soil is not defeat. It's obedience. Psalm 4610. Be still. You got it. Be still and know that I am God. He has not lost control of your story just because you can't see the next chapter. Sometimes we think we have to know everything when really all we need to do is breathe where we are. And when you look at being still, you can see the next chapter. And when you look at the next chapter, you can see the next chapter. And when you look at the next chapter, you can see the next chapter. And when you look at being still, it doesn't mean

it's a passive action. So to speak passive means you're not moving, right? It actually means you're present. And presence is something that you engage yourself with. Your mind, body, and spirit. It means letting your mind and your heart come into agreement instead of letting anxiety drive you into action that God never asked you to take. Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is to stop producing. Huh, imagine that. Sometimes the deepest growth happens when your hands are open, not clenched so tight that your nails are going into your own palms. Peshola Shriar said, sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is stop striving and let God hold you. I want to take you back to a moment in a chair

with your little baby. Could be all of them, one of them. Maybe one that you took care of and you claimed to yours wherever that heart takes you, where that connection is, go there for a moment. Remember what it was like just to hold them and they laid there with their little blankie. And you watched as they took their breaths. Sometimes their eyes open, sometimes closed. And every once in a while you would get that peekaboo. Like, are you still there? Hmm. Allow yourself to be connected back in the arms of a God who has never once been in a hurry about your becoming. What do we mom say? Oh, we could get the years back. If we could just hold them again when they were little. So breathe. Create your now, not because there's nothing left to do.

We know there is, right? But you see it's because the pause is part of the plan. The stillness isn't stealing your momentum. It's anchoring it. It's connecting your mind and your heart so that when the time comes to move, you move from wholeness, not from panic. You move because you're led, not because you're afraid of falling behind. And definitely, it's not about performance. My friends, you don't have to perform for God. You don't have to prove to Him that you're worthy of the next season. You just have to be fully. Honestly, imperfectly present. And trust that He is doing the rest beneath the surface where your eyes can't reach. So guess what? Instead of writing a permission slip for your child, I'm writing one for you today. Stop clawing.

Stop striving. Stop measuring your worth by how fast you're moving. Breathe where you are. And let God who planted you tend to what's growing. The bloom is coming. But right now, the roots need room to stretch. The roots only grow deep when you stop pulling yourself up to check on them. Oh, my friend, you're not stuck. You're seen. You're not forgotten. You're heard. In fact, you're being held. And that is exactly where you need to be. Go in peace. Be present. Be incredible. Be you. I love you so very much. I cannot wait to see you on the other side. Blessings, hugs, and lots and lots of love. We'll talk to you real soon. Have a glorious blessed day. Bye-bye.
