Thank you so much for being with us Afternoon has the ballpark. It's raining currently the tarp is on the field But I think we're gonna be okay for game time. So that's a good really nice here. It's a little windy Yeah, a little windy, but it's great and a crowd showing up here outside of your workplace Jeff at American Family Field Did you do anything fun and Philly yesterday? I did a nice run on the scoopal river which was great I did the rocky steps that by the way fun fact they moved rocky rocky statue was originally down the bottom of the steps of the library

4:12Yeah, it was moved to statue up to the top of the steps So you physically have to run the steps in order to take a picture with the statue That's how should be there you go. Yeah, oh, that's very cool as we reflect on the team Jeff And we're sitting out here with all the fans getting that getting excited They're gonna meet some of their legendary players out here in that thing everybody's talking about this team you cover the team fans love this team What makes this group of guys so special? I think every team is different right and And everybody will say that well this team had this and this team had that and what I see from this group is that they just care about each other and I think that the the grand indicator was when Cooper Prack got pulled from the game in New York and the first guys It went up and talked to him was South Freelik and Jake Bowers and they said this is how we do things in the very next day Cooper Pratt And since then has never made a mistake, right? He's always running hard. He's doing what he's supposed to do He's playing brewer style baseball I just think that these guys genuinely care about one another

5:12And that's what makes this team so great is that no nobody is better than the next player in that locker room Pat Murphy was just on the Pat McAfee show Jeff and he was talking about how the miss will likely play one of the next six games. Do you think that's a good move or Does that keep him the juices flowing for him not waiting for so long? I think it's No, I think it's absolutely smart for Miss to get at least one more start because if the Brewers wrap this thing up And they've got to buy he's not gonna pitch again until the third of October, which is next Saturday You don't want him off for two weeks So he pitched on Sunday till more than likely pitch this weekend against the same Lewis Cardinals I'd get either Saturday or Sunday just depending on when they how much rest they want to give him He had a shorter start in his last appearance by design And then he'll go out there and go balls the wall until he can't go anymore in his last appearance and get him ready for the postseason Brewers broadcaster you like that phrase with this I do actually yeah exactly. Yeah

6:14I like it Jackson Turio I want to ask you about Jackson Turio Jeff the youngest player ever to have three 20 home or 20 stolen based seasons It's hard to believe he's only 22 years old. Well, he still continue to get better. Is he 23? Well, he's still continue to get better Jeff I think so I think so I think that he's still untapped Listen as rookie years that the only full season he's had he missed a month this season because the broken hand made bone He missed a month last year because of that hamstring in the month of August So I mean, I think he is still trying to figure out what his best can be right now He's pretty darn special and if he can continue to get better I mean who's to say that he can't go 30 30 or maybe 40 40 at some point over the course of his career The fact that he is still younger than all the national league rookie of the year candidates this season Just goes to show how special this kid really is Who do you think is going to be our biggest hurdle getting to the world series to start?

7:17That's something I'm not really worried about I don't think these guys are worried about it in the clubhouse either I mean and tell you slaying the dragon of the Dodgers. I guess that's that's your guy But at the same time this this team has been so focused on on that particular game So depending on whatever the matchup is if it was if the season ended today The Brewers would play the winner of the Phillies and the Braves and Hing no Cubs I don't even know I'm looking at rock he's rocks all he's got all the answers Right now all I know is that the Brewers are looking forward to having a week off and getting themselves going in the division series on the third Whoever ends up coming out of the bracket is gonna come out of the bracket Well, it looks like the Cubs are barely gonna make the playoffs Yeah, we'll see yeah, I really don't want to go through the Cubs But we'll take whoever comes our way. They're all afraid of us to Jeff You talk a lot about this collection of guys being such a team such a great team Who's kind of underrated on this Brewers team who flies under the radar? That's really important that maybe doesn't get enough of the chatter

8:19I mean, I think the the second half the Joey Ortiz has had has been pretty darn special when you look at the the league leaders and different things Since the month of July joy Ortiz is right up there with everybody I would say that he has been very underrated in what he is when he's put together in the last couple of months of the season I mean, I still think that it's a shame that that the national media doesn't pick up on what Bryce Tarang has become Are you and Jackson Churriot is right at the front four for him as well, but where would this team be about Jake Bauer's this year too? And the role that he has played on this team. So I think there's a lot of unsung heroes Of course Logan Henderson and what he has become this year when he's been available and pitching I mean, he is the the bona fide number two with Jacob Mizorowski So there are a lot of guys that have have been under appreciated on this squad Jeff, what do you love about broadcasting in October as we are just around the corner with that? Yeah, I love the fact that every pitch is important not that it's not during the regular season

9:23But every single pitch during the postseason is important. You don't know if that's gonna be the one that hinges every game The atmosphere inside of American family field or even on the road It's just so special so electric You truly are the edge of your seat So I would recommend to both of you before the postseason go get yourself a manicure or make sure you catch your fingernails and get those Cuticles shaved down because you're gonna be biting the heck out of your nails during the postseason True it's so much fun. 10:27Marty so good to see you. Oh, thanks for having me you guys. What a fun afternoon. How cool is this the crews on the road They got a big game people could come out here and they can watch the game they can get something to eat and how fun is this for your team? It is this is incredible right the past couple years. We've done early morning rallies People on their way to work and that was really fun But this where we decided we needed to shake it up a little bit because that's what we like to do and thought we'd capture people on their way home So I mean I was wacking out here you guys you can see it too We've got people lined up over the pedestrian bridge already We've got people coming in the other direction. We're gonna have an awesome evening You're surprising even me with all the giveaways that you're doing yeah, it's so much fun So we've got the first 2500 people that come out get there win our way yellow shirts Those are cool so nobody can miss you, right? 13:29You know, we've just got Throngs of people standing and waiting to come on in it's amazing that just means you know We're bringing the right amount of joy the right amount is something to look forward to the right amount of entertainment Because at the end of the day that is what we're trying to do and this team guys There's so much fun to watch they are right and so in some ways It's been really easy material for us right to deliver on but people are getting a good product But they there's also such a strong sense of community out here And so being able to see that show up even when we're not sitting in seats in the ballpark is something pretty amazing and pretty special And yeah, this is what we work for you know, I'm looking up and down here too. I've got a lot of our staff out here With who are just grinning ear to ear as well because you sort of see everything culminate things like this guys We never know you know, you put these things on we have lovely people like you that come and join us But we're not sure how the fans are going to show up and so sometimes you just don't know for sure So this is really really special really exciting the pedestrian bridge is full. 14:30So get out here their space for you When what you do for a living Marty when it's playoff time or you're closing in on it How much do you focus on the business opportunity because of your job and how much do you find yourself sitting back and just wanting to watch a good baseball game and cheer for some good product on the field How do you kind of marry the two? Yeah, you know, it's this is where I say um, you know, it's it's good to have family because they remind you over and over and over Right and in the moments I with our staff to remember to try to just enjoy it But again, you know our job is to deliver a really amazing entertainment experience for our fans and so you know leaning into that heavy and hard is also really something that we celebrate and it's a ton of fun So my kids will tell me I'll lighten up mom, you know Every you can't die on every pitch and you know, I'm like yes, I I understand but it's just passion right? It's just passion we have so much fun with it So we're trying to do all the things all the things I like that There's a few different in your office as the postseason gets closer. Yeah, is the energy and the vibe change? Yeah, it does um, you know, it's it's one of those this season for whatever reason and this may just be me

15:35It went so fast that I can hardly believe you know We we were delivering on a lot this season trying a lot of new things, you know, we do the plaza where we're celebrating today You know, it I think some of that excitement allowed things to go more quickly For all of us, but here we are staring down right? You know, we're staring down 99 wins and then maybe that number that comes after 99 You know, we're also superstitious around here. Yeah, I'm glad we can't say things out loud franchise records left and right You know young stars that are making us just grin ear to ear. I mean just it's been so many incredible things But now now it feels very real very tangible So we're it does we're there. 17:37Rand that set off alarm bells the report was a Chinese ship in the middle east was transporting components of a nuclear weapons program as officials dug deeper They found it had been generated with the help of artificial intelligence. We know AI has value But is there real danger for the military and how AI is used and not used Well, I would take a step further. So there's danger for all of us and just looking at this case right here I mean during the war with around the spring this in military intelligence report just as you said Hums out and it claims that a Chinese vessel in the middle east is transporting components to a nuclear weapons program So the it goes up the chain and the military Begins prepping to intercept the ship arm personnel were ready to board the ship aircraft were in the air They were moving the fleet to intercept a Chinese vessel and the problem was that the report was completely wrong An analyst had used AI is AI chatbot while analyzing intelligence about the ship's manifest and he was combining

18:44Open source information things that open sources things that any of us can find maybe some shipping labels or things that are out in the public with classified signals intelligence and having the AI Collaborate to synthesize all of it except for the AI did what AI does it incorrectly What the ship was carrying and then the analyst uses AI again to package it into a standard intelligence report doing his work for him It travels up the chain and we almost went to war with China So the lesson here is AI can be wrong quickly very confidently and at enormous scale so we always have to check the work You never want to just pass off the bus to AI to do your work for you It can lead to disaster That's insane. It sounds like a something out of mission impossible movie Can AI truly understand and follow international law? I mean it doesn't seem like it really did much in this case

19:47Well, one of the problems for AI is that it can get things wrong It can look at the wrong sources It can hallucinate and just make things up Because it because of the way that you ask it for information If you if you ask it in a way where you're demanding that it give you the answer that you want Sometimes it will just give you that answer So you have to be very careful on how you prompt it and I have some rules for any time you use AI for research One is asked for the sources Tell the AI when you give me information I want to see all the data behind that I want to see links and then you follow those links Just because it gives you citations doesn't mean they're valid I've seen this so many times where the AI says oh it's exactly this and then I follow the link and it was wrong Um, you also have to go upstream. Don't just rely on the news article it gave you try to find the actual report behind it This this kind of thing has gotten lawyers into a immense amount of trouble where they're using AI to do their case

20:53All research AI creates this case out of whole thought never existed that is on point and wins the argument they submitted to a court and They've literally lied to the court at that point promoted fake case law and lawyers have been this far so there can be serious consequences to not Checking the work of the AI chatbot that is nothing more than a tool. It's not a replacement for the work that each of us has to do All right, Eric. I wanted to ask you to elaborate on that because you used old fashioned human intelligence when you brought down Robert Hanson the incredible work that you did Can you talk about the value and the balance of using human intelligence versus the technology that is available to us? Yes, and that's a great question because We used any and every source of information available to us in fact once you get to the level of classification I was operating they have all sorts of letters that characterize whether there is signals intelligence or human intelligence or

21:57Open source intelligence and you want to take all that information Verify the sources carefully and then synthesize the information to come up with an investigative goal or facts So really what you're looking at is is facts and you know going undercover to catch us by you have to have facts Especially if you're leading to an arrest otherwise you might make that arrest but then it falls apart When the person hires defense counsel? AI is a tool like any other It can help take do some of the heavy listing it can help do some of the work But that does not replace or remove the fact that we have to make sure that it is doing the correct work and that the product That you provide up to change or that you are relying on as fact is actually fact Um, you have to check your tools just like you would have to check your research back in the old days before AI did a lot of the work for us And even before AI we we've heard the term the fog of war and being confused but with this

23:00Like maybe autonomous weapons maybe makes a mistake who would be responsible Yeah, that's there's there's another good question Julia Human operator is always responsible human If we just hand things over to AI at the end of the day if the AI makes a mistake a mistake whoever handed that over It is at fault you can't blame an AI you can't hold an AI accountable Um, ultimately there is a human whether it's the person using the AI whether it's the company behind the AI Someone will be a count accountable and I do not think that AI Should be allowed to blindly make decisions on its own uh You know with respect to weapons systems. I think that at the end of the day a human should be making the decision before a machine You know does something that could harm or kill another person Incredible perspective is always eric O'Neill former FBI operative and best-selling author.
