Meet the Red Bull Dragonberry Emergized. It's one of the many new drinks out now. Who knew ice cold drinks could be so fire? Try them all only at my toes. I'm going to be seeing you in the second half of the 24 hours to bring you the 40th annual All Star Baseball game.

Today's All Star Game is brought to you by Fight Spirit Buffering. World famous for engineering. Insurance by the heart. We try to keep things simple. The makers of Winston, Salem and Camel cigarettes. And by STP Corporation, makers of STP oil treatment. STP is the racers edge. And all of us at Jim Simpson with Santa Colfax. And for those of you who may not have heard last night's attempt to play, the 40th annual All Star Game was rained out. And that is my first understatement of the day. Because there was a day loose of rain in some sections of Washington. More than 12 inches of rain. They had to take hoses and pumps to pump out the waste-high water. And the Washington Senators dug out, which for today and last night is the American League dugout. There are drains in Senafield. They have taken the sections of those drains out and now replaced them. And the field is in pretty good shape. I've a word about a pitching change for the American League in a moment with Santa Colfax. This broadcast is authorized under broadcast rights, been adopted by the Commissioner of Baseball.

So only for the entertainment of our listening audience. Any publication, re-broadcast, or other use of the descriptions of the Council of the Game. Without the express written consent of the Commissioner of Baseball is prohibited. Now, Santa Colfax, we were here last night and talking. Talking about what might happen if the game were to be played. The weather now, if the weatherman says there will be continuing white showers all afternoon, it looks like the game will be played. Denny McLean, who flew home late last night for dental treatment this morning. Reportedly, his back into stadium, but there is a pitching change and marrow stuttle marae, will be the first on the mound today for the American League. Jim, I'm sure Denny would have liked to have pitched today, but Mayo Smith, the manager, probably felt for Denny's sake and the American League's chances. It might be better to give him a little rest. Denny flew home, as you said, had to come back early this morning after extensive dental work yesterday. So Mayo has gone with Mill Stuttle marae, which is not going to hurt the American League too much. Mill, last year, at the great year, he was 21 and 12 with a 2-4-5 ERA.

So far this year, coming into today's game, he's 14 and 7 with an ERA of 2.61. He's pitched three shutouts on the year, and has done just a fine job for the Yankees. He's pitched 193 innings. He is not really a strikeout pitcher. Mill has a fine slider and a great sinker. I think probably his sinker is his best pitch. He throws this sinking fastball, and especially in a ballpark like this, where we've had a lot of rain, and they do have a soft infield here in Washington anyway at all times. That sinker ball is a definite advantage to him. A lot of ground balls are usually hit off of him, and when you've got that slow infield, they don't go through too easily. He's got fine control and keeps the ball down, and Mill is quite a competitor, and it's going to be a good ball game. Well, Sandy, according to the Washington fans here, they will agree that Mill Stuttle marae has a great sinker ball, because Stuttle marr apparently owns the Washington Center.

He is at fantastic luck against the Center. And pitching here in DC Stadium. Stuttle marr will go against the National League today, and of course playing from Kennedy Stadium, this is the American Football Park, the National League will be first up. When the senior circuit does take the field, Sandy, it will be Steve Coulden. Now Coulden is a left-hander. You were not surprised when we talked last night that he has been selected to pitch, even though he's going against the Ferrari right-hand lineup. But Steve said last night after the rain out, what I didn't need was one more day's rest. Very definitely. Jim S. he only, I think, a problem that Coulden might have today is too much rest. He pitched last Wednesday, pitched a shutout, he was scheduled to pitch again on Sunday, and then we're rained out, so he's had seven days rest coming into today's game. Some pitchers like the extra rest, some don't. But you never know, we only find out after the ball game starts. Steve has got great stuff, I think. Possibly he might be one of the better pitchers in the National League now.

Maybe the one with the best stuff in the league. He has a great fastball, throws hard, and good control with his fastball. Up until this year he had little trouble with his curveball, he has a good one. He didn't have good command of it, he didn't get it over as well as he would like to. This year he's come up with a slider, the slider's been a big pitch for him, it gives him a third ball or a breaking ball if you want to call it, that he can get over the plate and made it doubly tough on the hitters. He keeps it on the inside corner to the right handers and out away from the left handers, and this makes him awfully tough. And as far as being a left hander he is all at right hand power. You have this kind of stuff, it shouldn't make a lot of difference. Although the pitchers in Steve Coulden right now is warming up down below us, right and back of home plate slightly off to the left in front of the National League dugout. Mel Stuttlemeyer has gone to the bullpen, which is located out in left center field, and he is warming up out there. Down to our right alongside of the American League dugout is the United States Navy band, rest in their whites.

And of course today the man who will throw out the first baseball, as a matter of fact he will throw out two, one of the American League catcher Bill Freehand, one of the National League catcher Johnny Fensham, is a story there. Will be vice president Stil Agnew. President Nixon wanted to be here last night, but of course the game was rained out, and he has started on his round the world trip, which will take him to the Pacific on Thursday to meet our Apollo 11 astronauts, to wait for it on them. They are now awake after a 10 hour sleep in about 125,000 miles from Earth. And throughout this afternoon not only will we keep your rest of the all-star game, but the return flight of Apollo 11. Now astronauts who have been to the Moon, the Alarmstorm, Edwin Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Coddett. But Stil Agnew will be here this afternoon, but a lot of people will not be here this afternoon. Because what do you do if you own tickets to an all-star game that is to be played at night? And you have problems, of course, as everybody does with their work, with their business, and frankly with their budget. So many people have had to go home with tickets, rain checks that were good for this afternoon. But overnight in the day lose your brain, how do you get rid of them, how do you get back to the ballpark?

But Stil Agnew, well over 40,000, it would be an excess of 45,000. And that's the amount of tickets they sold, have there not been a rain out last night. So while we wait for the arrival of Vice President Agnew and the ceremonial first pick, and of course the introductions of the team said, let's go back again to something that we talked about last night. This is the 40-thall-star game. The first one being played at the committee park, now known as White Sucks Park in Chicago, back in 1933. For a while, it all belongs to the American League. They were 12 and 4 after the 1949 game, but since then, the National League is 17 and lost 5. 10 of the last 11, and the last 6 and a row. And I'm asking you, Sanny, how come? That's not about it. I give a think part of that has to do with the type of pitching in the two leagues. For a while now I feel that the National League had more pitchers with the throwpark. You had the great fastball. It doesn't necessarily make them better pitchers, but when you sell these kind of guys that they've only got to go two or three innings,

and they don't have to save anything. It's a great factor. They can go out there and throw as hard as they can, and that makes it pretty tough to hit against them. The other thing that I feel is definitely one of the causes of the National League's superiority in the last few years has been the fact that the National League was far ahead in the supply. They've been acquiring Negro ball players. They gave the National League an untapped source of athletes and fine players where the American League was a little late. Jackie Robinson broke in with the Dodgers, and right after that, the players were like, will he may? And some of these greats were still playing now. And I think this is a big factor. I think there were some clubs in the American League that were very far behind the National League in that. I think that made a big difference in the last 10 years. So, of course, in the last three ball games, it only been seven runs scored all together. Last year's game was one one to nothing but the National League. And the year before that they run an NRI, and that was an extra in a game that was the National League that held Storlus for the last nine innings.

So, the last 18 innings of all start play not only has the American League not won, but they haven't scored a run. At this moment, the National League is being introduced and plotting out along the third base line, involved now with the starting line-ups, starting, of course, with the manager Red Cheney. And now, I guess, is as good a time as any to give you our preliminary line-ups before we get down to the ceremony of first fifth. More than National League, leading off and playing Centafield will be the league's leading hitter, Matti Olu, of the Pittsburgh Pirates, hitting a three-fifty-four. At shortstop and batting seconds of switch hitter at a fine one, and what a shortstop he is. 54 games this year, without an error at shortstop from the Chicago Cup's Don Kesson, hitting 298. In right field, and he has been around a whole star game many times before Hank Aaron, having a lot of braids, hitting a three-twenty-seven. He's got 24 home runs this year. At batting cleanup, the man who leaves the National League in a home run from the San Francisco Giants, first baseman, will be the cup, 30 home runs, a three-twenty-five batting effort.

One-saddle of the cup will be at third base. 20 home runs, leads the National League at RBI's with 84, on Stratting average, 295. Making his first appearance, Leon Joel, out the New York Met, hitting 341. And Joel just happened to be here, and of course the Met's are happy to be where they are, and the last of the extended. Batting seven, Johnny Ben, the youngster, the catcher from Cincinnati, who thought he might have to go back to military duty. But did get an extension on his 24 hour pass, and so he will catch today. Felix, Leon, will be at second base from the Atlanta Braids. Leon having a great year, and in 274, 38RBI. And Steve Carlin, a sandy-soated 12-and-five on the air, leads the National League at the same time, at 1.6. Well, these are the first two here, and it's a hometown here for Frank Howard. The Washington Seven, just in position. And it's coming to you from Robert at 70 below, and it's getting more Washington. How it is getting the San Diego Bay? It's getting more Frank having played with him.

All I can tell you about Frank right now is he is embarrassed during this. He's one of the most backful of people, and just a great guy, and I think he's embarrassed a little bit by the standing of a police, too, I'm sure. And if there's a man that was glad there weren't the post-pum at last night's sand, in his Frank Howard, who had intestinal flu over the weekend. At last night's delay gave him one extra day of rent. Now for the American League. Rob Carlin, who leads the league in batting, will lead it off, ending at 3.64, so the league's leading batters. I'm leading off to Bolton, I have a German-American League. Carlin, of course, from the Minnesota Queen. Thatting's second, and what a year he is having. Reggie Jackson of Oakland, playing centerfield. He has 37 home runs, the lead from 18, hitting at 2.87. Frank Robinson, the only man to be most rival player in both leagues, from the Baltimore Orioles, and hitting 3.29 this year. He'll be in right field. And of course, he's now starting his second game as an off-car for the American League. He did the same thing to the National League, and that is another record for Frank.

Who's proud, hitting just under 3.90, at 2.99, 86 RBI's, 24 home runs. The first baseman from Baltimore will back cleanup. Howard, and you just heard the standing ovation for Honda, as they call him, 34 home runs, 73 RBI's, and 3.13 is batting up. Sal Vando, to some of surprise, from Oakland will be a third baseman, nosing out for a trauma. 18 home runs, 64 RBI's. Rico Petra Celia, bust in the truck stop, Bill Freeham, up to 2. And catcher, and Mel Stunnellmire, of New York, that bit. You know what's now, all for the vice president of the United States. Bill active, who will enter through, and is now stepping up the American League dug out steps, and onto the field. David Eisenhower, the son-in-law of the president, is with him. Along with other aid, his president Nixon is now winging his way west. But president said, and the receptionist's afternoon, some suggested he might leave in the evening, and his next Nixon said,

I'm a true baseball fan. I'm going to stay for the whole game. The problem was, last night's game was rained out. It is cloudy and overcast here today. And there's the possibility of showers throughout the afternoon. The young priors have now taken the field. And now the United States, maybe that. They will play the national anthem, and afterwards, there will be a prayer for our returning astronaut, the lunch, lunch, lunch, oven, and Michael Thomas.

We'll be back with more pregame highlights right after this message. This is the place of summertime place. WNBC Radio 660 and WNBC FM New York. This is Charlie Brown. It's been your summer with me. Weekdays 3-7pm right here. This is the place, the summertime place.

Chitere's the name, makes the others of David. God's part of Jim Beeson. We've lost 10 seconds for station identification. This is the place for Joe O'Brien. Weekday mornings 5-9. WNBC Radio 660 and WNBC FM New York. This is the 40th annual All Star Baseball Game. Vice President Agnew has done up the first bit just to nationally catch Johnny Bench.

Since then, he and I've actually catch a Bill Freehand of this flight. Along with him and the locks, as we said, not only David Eisenhower, but Freesha Nixon, not Julie Davis-Light, but Freesha Nixon, and only the Washington Senators Robert Short. And along, of course, the Commission of Baseball, Bui Kuen. May all Smith that's the twight. Red Chained East of the National League Champion, St. Louis Cardinals. Meeting now with the Umpires, and today I, behind the plate, John Redt Flarety of the American League. At first base, Augie Donatelle of the National League. At second base, Bob Stewart of the American League. At third base, the veteran Tom Gorman of the National League. Along the left of your line, as the lights have just been turned on here at Overcast Kennedy Stadium, Marty's brings dead of the American League in Vermonty. This is his first All Star game, and I'm sure quite a thrill. Along the right of your line is Tony Benson of the National League. The National League, of course, will bet first. Again, Merrill Skottelmeyer, somewhat of a surprise today, dynamically in flew home last night for what he said was necessary dental work.

That took place at 7 a.m. at twight time this morning. The American League will a bus along the field in Justin Marlin and will find Booth-Cowell at first base, Rod Caru at second, Rico Cutter at short, South Bando at third, Frank Howard in left, Reggie Jackson in center, Frank Robinson behind, Rod and Wrightfield. The little freehand behind the plate, at Merrill Skottelmeyer, the pitcher. And as they come out again and Skottelmeyer, Sanico Vax will take his warm-ups in a few moments, again a word about the surprise starter for the American League today. Mr. Skottelmeyer has the American League bustled on the field. Two, as we said earlier, Merrill is great pitcher, fine pitcher. It's only a surprise because Denny didn't say his system starting, but I guess they'll lift the figure that was best to give him a little bit more rest. Donald Marlin is what we call a sinker-slider type pitcher. He has the good stuff that he keeps very low as fine control. He makes a lot of hitters hit the ball on the ground, which is a very good thing in this ballpark.

It's always a little slow in the infield, especially after the rain. The infield will be slow and it's awfully tough for the hitters to get the ball past the infield. So, Donald Marlin is always fished well here in Washington, especially against Washington. But he seems to like this ballpark, so he's probably capable of doing a very fine job today. He'll be facing Maddie Allure, the Pittsburgh Clire, to lead the National League with a 354 batting average, Don Kessinger, the Chicago Cutson Hank Aaron, here in the top of the first inning. And remember that this is an American League ballpark, Kennedy Stadium in Washington, and the predominant years here today will be for the underdog American League, which has lost 10 of its last 11. Its last six in a row. And hello to you from Washington, not only to the folks here in the United States, but via armed forces radio, we're being short-waved to Americans living abroad and our servicemen in Vietnam, the Far East, Latin America, and Europe. We hope you enjoyed this, the 40th annual All-Star baseball game from Washington, D.C., high humidity, very slight breeze, and the temperature about 80 degrees.

Rain is forecasted, rains for more than an hour before the game. But we're going to get started then. He will lose steps in, left and about. Against Stommer. Stommer likes to keep the ball low, and of course, Alou likes to chop the ball into the ground and got to beat the knot. Without a mind, Stommer, the third baseman, the open athletic comes in on the grass at third base. Stommer, looking into his catch a bill-free, and if it's right, the first pitch is on the way, and it's outside ball. Not thrown too hard, that looks like he changed on the very first. Jimmy threw a curve ball at first pitch to Alou, but the whole infield is halfway there in a little bit. A little over-joke, and on the second pitch of the game, Alou has a base in. Jim watching that ball hit in the outfield today is going to be a little tough. The ball hit the ground and just died there, and after all the rain we've had in the last few days here in Washington, the outfield is going to be just a little tough to play, which could hurt the American League.

They really don't have a center-fielder in the lineup. Tom Kessinger, switch hitting shortstop. So the national league from the Chicago Cup is hitting 298 steps in not a power hiter. Don was the right-handed hiter, and in May of 1966, Johnny Kubbeck of NBC and I were there at Wrigley Field when he tried it. He's again a switch hit, and he's developed into a fine hitter. Again a half way, Kessinger swings and fouls at first, but off fourth and I actually dug out. And it's one handed by a spectator on the sideline. Maddie-alou at first base hitting the 1-0 pitch. And as Harry Walker taught him, Alou, not much of a hit over the San Francisco Giants, and he won the batting championship in his first year with a prior turn to the food match. If Harry and the hat walker going with the pitch, and he did that for a single arrest. Now I want to strike to Kessinger. The pitch is grounded for Booth Towl. Almost of all moment telly, finally goes to startle by covering it first and has Kessinger who falls in the grass. Tom might have had a chance for a double play, but at a difficult time, Santa getting the ball out of his glove. Very definitely Jim and Maddie-alou

who runs well at the play. Worms Booth, wobbled it just a little bit. Maddie had to play feet there, and it was awfully close at first. Kessinger fell, the e-mail tripping over, startled by her at first base. They just did get Kessinger at first. Alou was down at second base now, one out on the top of the first inning, no score, and Hank Aaron steps in. And at the amount of raves hitting 3-27, 24 home runs, 58 RBI's. And Hank has been around before. This is his 12th All-Star start. At his 18th game, he's tied with dead Williams for third. Surprising thing is, Hank with those quick wrists has only one hit. At all star play, a single outside to 3-1. All the way, 4-1. A muggy day at Washington, and he would not have believed the rain of last night. They had to pump up the American League dugout, and 1-1, it received more than 12 inches in the 3-hour period. 1-0 pitch down, it gets away from 3-1, it's going to try for third,

throw by 3-1 down there, state. And that could also be a big factor in today's game. The National League has very good speed in their lineup. 3-1 is a fine catcher, but he does not have the great arm of, say, a Johnny bench for the National League. 3-1 does a fine job behind the plate, but just physically, he hasn't been as gifted as some other catchers who do have the great arm. Now, Dick Young and the New York David Hughes bought out into Washington Post and were a little see of the Washington Star, or the official scorers, but as of this moment, they have not scored one or not as the past fall on 3-1. A wild pitch or a stolen base. Got to take a guess. 2-0 to Aaron. Swing in a miss, strike one. Good one to Aaron, one out of Lou. At third base.

And they were saying that this will not be a low scoring ball game. The last three have been, but they don't figure here. High in the air. Broad left field. Howard comes in. 8-10 steps goes towards right. Now it's on the dead run for it. Has lost it. Lost it. And Lou will score. Now the second base goes Aaron, and he is safe. There's a little bit of a cup play there. Frank lost the ball. And there was way in. He tore up a great big plot of dirt in the outfield. And he slept like he slept a little just as the time he got to the ball. That is an error. On Frank Howard, no one batted in for Hank. And it is one to nothing to national league. One out and Aaron is camp at second base. And here comes Woody McCubby. 30 hold runs. First base, one of the San Francisco Giants. 17 on RBI's. A 3-25 batting average. As well, Stuttle Meyer, who gave up a single to Mount of Lou. On the second pitch of the game has been victimized. Powell couldn't get a ball out of his glove.

And he makes a play at second base. Possible double play. Frank Howard has dropped one in left field. And it's one to nothing. And Stuttle Meyer and the American league are behind. And here's the dangerous McCubby. He can rifle that ball and takes strike one. This is the McCubby's the kind of hitter that Mike gives Stuttle Meyer a lot of trouble. McCubby is a low ball hitter. Stuttle Meyer is a low ball pitcher. The pitcher has to go with his strength, but he's got a problem. This is a big hitter for him to get out here. Hey Bristol, have since not eaten the manager coaching it first. The older Oshar the Cubs coaching it third. Paul has found off to the left in the stands and it's two strikes to William McCubby. McCubby was one of those who was on last year's fall star. Team off source of Stuttle. He'll be followed by Ron Sando. This is a ballpark as I started to say in which the baseball usually travels very far and very well. But it is a muggy and humid day. It could slow it down somewhat. But they expect a lot of runs. Right now it's one to nothing to nationally.

McCubby waits on the O2 pitch, rounds above for a second base. Rock crew is there and flips over to first to Boog College going on to third. Here's Hank Aaron. There are two down with Ron Sando about it. Sando at 20 home runs leads the nationally and RBI's with 84 and is betting average to 95. One to nothing to score. The nationally one run, one hit. No errors. The American League hasn't come to that yet, but on the scoreboard it shows one to base error that a lot of run to score by Frank Howard, the hometown favorite in left field. Howard started in slowly, then accelerated and didn't quite get to it. Got his glove on the ball and it dropped off. Sando ducks away from a pitch that wasn't all that inside. When Alu went to third base, it has been judged as a wild pitch. All over, reached on a single, went to second on the ground out by Kessinger, to third on a wild pitch and scored on the two base error by Frank Howard on the ball, hit by Henry Aaron. Round ball, chance for Bando a third, backs up, now rifles across the pound at first down.

The American League is out of the inning, but not before the nationally scored. On Alu's single, round out, wild pitch, and came in on the air and in the middle of the first, it's the nationally one, the American League, not before the national league scored. On Alu's single, round out, wild pitch, and the American League, nothing. Jim's incident at the Sanico Facts is rock, Peru, the first batter for the American League steps in and it looks like we've got some sun shines. Steve Coulton, the pitcher, inside ball one. William McCovvy, the chance at first base, Felix Beyond of the Braves at second base, Don Kessinger and Ron Sando, a struck stop and third base, both from the cuts. Pitch to Peru, now tipped. It is one and one. The Alpio, Cleon Jones of the Metz and Lepp, Mattie Alu of the Pirates and center, Hank Aaron of the Braves and Wright, Donnie Benches behind the plate and Carlton the pitcher, with a one and nothing lead, and it's one and one to Peru. Leads the American League and batting with two, three sixty four lines of throttle left over, quickly as Cleon Jones won away. Here we talked about the amount of rest

that Carlton has had earlier. He's had seven days. This probably won't affect the kind of stuff he has. He has good stuff and the extra rest is going to hurt that. It could affect his control a little bit. Having been rained out on Sunday possibly not having had a chance to throw since but maybe Friday of last week that could affect his control in this game. Reggie Jackson and hits the first pitch, hops it up. It may make the stands over quickly, comes Ron Sando near the stands and has it. And on the first pitch, thirty seven long run hitter, Reggie Jackson is retired on a fine play by Sando, who had to put his glove up between several outstretched hands of the fans. That'll bring up Frank Robinson in this one-time ball game last for the first inning. The National League is leading three twenty nine Frank Savage, twenty two home runs, sixty four RBI. And thus far Steve Carlton has faced two left-end as Robinson is his first and Steve has only thrown three pitches and has two men retired.

Robinson the right-handed better. Depping in against Carlton. Steve throws a breaking pitch and it's ball one inside. Big boot now hopes that he gets a chance to bat, standing in the armed deck circle. Now then ready again, throws pass ball and strike two as Robinson took a big cut. A rather strike one. One at one, Frank Robinson. Now, the dark at the Cleveland Indians, manager there is coaching at third base today in Earl Weaver and they aren't his Baltimore royals doing something, coaching at first. Now, drop by Robinson, it's one and two. Frank Robinson is one of the big reasons why Earl Weaver's team in the Eastern Division of the American League is leading everybody else by heat eleven games. The National League has an unernd run. Top of this inning. The American League trying to get something started. And Robinson has gone out of the breaking pitch on the inside corner. No one's so hit, no one's done left at the end of one.

The National League won, the American League, nothing. At Kennedy State of Washington, Jim Simpson speaking and Sadie Colfax, that error charged to Frank Howard, that as a lot of the only run, was indeed, it did not look at the time, but looking at the flags, a difficult play. Jim, it was a difficult play on the fact that Frank is played here all year and he doesn't expect balls, hit like that, not to carry out the left field. The flag is blowing straight in from left toward the first base dugout, and I think it held that ball up in an addition Frank slip. But that's just what happened to Saddle Meyer. He didn't have a ball hit hard yet he's behind one to nothing. Here's Cleon Jones, cross town from Saddle Meyer to Yankees. Cleon's with the Mets, getting 3-41-10 home runs, 56 RBI's in having a wonderful year. Swings on the first pitch. That first study makes it die, flips the caroo, one hands at the first base. Despite the fine play, he's safe-based here. But that is all a start play and listen to the drum. Jim, this is a totally different crowd.

It's really not partisan. They're here to root a little bit for the American League. But they're here to see Great Baseball and they applaud everybody and everything. Here could be according to many baseball fundants. The future superstar of the National League up tomorrow has already in all the star Johnny Bench, the catcher of Cincinnati, hitting a 3-17-12 home runs, 47 RBI's, a youngster from Oklahoma. Yesterday met the president of the United States and they caught the first pitch from the vice president of the United States. Almost went for the pitch on the outside corner, which is a call strike. Jones at first base is a threat to steel. Booth-Thowell is holding him on. And Saddle Meyer looking in. The lights have been on. There is a wind blowing. Rain is forecast, light showers. For this afternoon, we had one before the game. Next pitch is low from Saddle Meyer, who is a sinkerball pitcher. And that's one and one. The Navy band has seated out.

LA could be hit by a ball because they're seated behind the fence in fair territory in right field. And with folks like McCovie. Could be problems. Blue Moon Autumn looks to be warming up as Ben Swings and Mrs. Autumn having a great year also. For the open days. Warming up and could be the second pitcher. Mara Shell with a national league. Some question whether or not he will go today as Worcesters on his hand. One and two now, an event with Jones at first. None out. One and nothing. The national league were in the second inning and the all star game in Washington. Record emotion. This one is Laced but foul deep in the left field seats. Ben does have powers. We said 12 home runs on a year. And Jim might have to say that Johnny Bench has the finest arm of any catcher in baseball. I don't think there's another catcher I have ever seen possibly at any time. Who had the ability to throw the ball is hard. Maybe there've been some who have been just as accurate but he has this great arm.

Staddleman has the sign now. Here's the one two pitch to Johnny Bench. Jones is on the way and there's a ball this time in fair territory. Hard going back looking up. It is in the middle of the game. It's to a home run for Johnny Bench. And it's sweet of nothing to national league. Jim used talking before the ball game about people having trouble with their bosses. It's not simply not being able to get to the game. And those Johnny Bench got permission from the first sergeant all of the studies at a home run and driven in two runs here in the second inning. Well right now you have. Here's the one last year's one and nothing already to spring to nothing. The national eight years Felix beyond still nobody out beyond with five home runs. 274 right handed batter. It's the first pitch on one hop to bootfowl who steps on first and there's one out. That will bring up Steve Colbert. He's a great guy. He's a great guy. He's a great guy.

That will bring up Steve Colbert. There was not only a fine pitcher with his 1.65 on one average that leads to the national league. But Colbert was not yet out of the dugout. Is a pretty good hitter. Yes he is Jim. I'm sure what happened to Steve is he's used to playing with the ball club and he knows who's helmet. He wears pitchers don't have their own helmets or their own bats. So he goes and he probably gets one company on his team. He probably couldn't find a helmet. A bit of a bat. He likes. The scoreboard and right center field says national league three runs three hits. No, there's the American league. No runs. No hits one or two. We're in the last of the second. Much more win across the top of the stadium. And there is within the stadium. Although there is a good amount of breeze. Thankfully swarming around. Counting like he throws is a left handed batter and takes low ball one from Mel Stottelmann. Then he may go in scheduled to start today at a dental point that this morning in Detroit got back.

But did not start Stottelmeyer's by three to nothing. There's a swinging strike. The car first run was on her and a little reached on the single. But the second on the ground out the third on the wild pitch and scored when Howard dropped Aaron's top fly in left. But these last two have been base hits swinging a miss. Or I should say top or by. Caught in this one and two Jones had an infield hit to lead it off. And Johnny Bench hit a one and two pitch in the mezzanine and left field. And it's written up. It is human. Stottelmeyer takes time to wipe his brow. One and two the count with one out none on. Swings at a low pitch and carbon strikes out. That's the second out of the second inning and the first strike out for Stottelmeyer. You can hear the crowd buzz. That he said it is a non-fotison crowd. But it is a Washington DC crowd and they're well aware that the match and league is one for the last six years. Ten of the last eleven and they're well aware that the American league and the many American

leagueers here would like to do something about it. They're down three to nothing. Here's Maddie Lou. Who's single and scored the first run. This one he follows off to the left. Lou chops or I should say jokes up on that. Quite a bit. Trash to punch the ball. I hit down on it. Hit it in the grass on on a day like today where it will slow down quite a bit. He could beat it out. So I'll band-o open and again after base. One strike pitch is low one and one. No all-star game has ever been canceled before last night. So it was postponed until today and we're getting it in the 40th annual. All again, Lou. It's two and one. And on Monday night at one of the hotels in Washington, the hundredth anniversary dinner of Major League Baseball. And quite an event that was. And many, if not all, are those who put in an appearance there, Bill Biggie, John again, James, Joe DeMars, you're all here. Round ball foul. Dave Bristol, a coach at first base, takes away about it.

Let's go out to the fence. It's two to. Dona, you know, the greatest living centerfielder ever. Plus, greatest American League centerfielder. There's another ball punched into centerfielder and you see now why. Maddie, Lou leads the majors and hitting with 354. He's two for two here and each time he is simply mepped the ball, Saddie. I'm blinded over the empty. Very definitely, Jim. That's all Lou tries to do it. Make contact with the Stunnel Myers having a little trouble. He has to keep the ball down to the effect it. And he's been getting the ball up quite a bit. This pitch that Lou just hit, the whole run by bench, we're all on high fast balls. And that's not the way a Mellstowne Meyer wants to pitch. With the Lewis first base, there are two out, two runs in in this game. We're going to nothing the national league. We're just in the last of the second. Here's Don Kessinger. To the ground of the ball to foul, it might have been a double play ball, but Lou couldn't get it out of his glove.

I have a settle to get on that at first base. And now Stunnel Myers, there's a little pitch, throws over to first base. He didn't want it to be that low. And there, nearly got by Booth Thull. Lou has a great amount of speed. Kessinger batting left hand against the right hand of Mellstowne Meyer. Lou, in a way. It's one and no to Kessinger. Booth Thulled at first, Rod Crude's second. After Sunday at short, Bando at third. Howard and left Jacksonon center. Robinson in right, freehand behind the plate and Stunnel Myers at the pitcher. The Stunners have to go three at a bar in Henry or a pitching change, of course. Round ball to foul, it is fair. He will step on third and that's it. Two runs on two hits or other three hits. Stoers and one left in the middle of the second. The national league, three. The American league, nothing. This is Sid Collins, a voice of the Indianapolis 500 mile race. Here in Victory Lane. Interviewing this year's winner, Mario and Dreddy.

Mario congratulations for turning in a record-breaking speed of 156.867 miles per hour. And during the running of the event, when did you really appeal to your hand and all wrapped up? As soon as I crossed the finish line on a 200-slap. I understand you had F.C.P. oil treatment in your machine. The whole winning rate of the finish line. Well, I think that's the health of the instrument industry, especially in calling the engine on a hot day such as it was today. Mario and Dreddy had his victory lane for the very first time in his career. Brandy Granatelli, who did likewise, the STP oil treatment special. Mario, how did you do it? Sid, all I can say is my Ford engine had more STP than anybody else. Driver, take a tip from Indianapolis 500 mile winner, Mario and Dreddy. Have your service station at STP to your oil. STP is the racers' edge. The American League now tries to get into the whole game, trailing free to nothing in the last of the second. Who will pal with 24 home runs of 86 RBI's?

The Bay Steve Cauten, Cal, of course, the left-handed batter, again against the left-handed Cauten. Cauten's first pitch is a breaking pitch and it's just low, ball one. Frank Cauten with 34 home runs, so Amanda with 18 to follow, and this the last of the second. Now it is stepped out on deck already. Cauten's next pitch hit off the fists. Cauten, the short center field, Alu is playing very deep. Out goes Cassidy, in comes Alu, Alu makes a falling down catch. He is out and throws the second base in time to have got the power to get dropped the ball. The applause from Adi Alu and Alcilfer Frank Cauten. Howard brought it by a testimonial virus last weekend. Steps in, sees a breaking pitch first and it's destroyed.

Down the head. One out on the last of the second. Right back again with a breaking pitch. This one is low and inside one and one. Howard this year has been trying to wait on the sixth block. And a bunch of more for base hits, two more beaters. So the power he has takes care of itself. Adi is wound up with 34 home runs. Deep center field of work. Good, hip to your project. And dogs. Frank Howard was working of the year with the lost antifist doctors of the National Ex-NMH. He was team H, he's in a lot of them, but that's the way he gets them here.

Jim will curl and try to throw in the curve ball and got behind him then had to come in with the fastball and Frank just ripped it into center field. That ball they'll measure it on here, but it's formed at an empty straightaway center. And it was in the mezzanine far up the wall about 60 feet. Bando has strike one on him and swings in misses for strike two. Bando, the third baseman, 18 home runs, 64 RBI's with open. Hitting a 294. Free to warm the score now, but I should leg and maybe a 4-10 of things to come. That indeed there will be many more runs scored in this all-star game than in the last three. Breaking pitch, find off to the right by Bando. It's still on to Jim I think when Howard was hitting UCD and 4-10. Hitting, you see the importance of getting ahead of the hitter. Thrill tried to throw two curve balls for strikes, missed with both, then he had to come in with the fastball. Breaking ball here, and right back to the column, who will throw in a willing to come in first. Bando is out by 30 feet. And that will bring up Rico Petra-Zelley.

Petra-Zelley, the Boston Shortstop, got off the strike. Let's start. 25 on 55 RBI, it's just hitting a 309. If there's been any slowing in, the Palace of Rico has been a feel where his throwing arm is again beginning to cause him some trouble. Breaking pitch, it's high. Petra-Zelley from Carvin. Two out. Howard has hit that all run starting for the second year. That's his first hit as an all-star. Start on right back. Breaking pitch on the inside corner, one-on-one. Three runs, four hits, no errors for the National League, one run, one hits, and one error for the American. Howard who a lot of run, dropping a ball and left field has gotten that run back. One-on-one, pitch from Carvin, swinging a miss, and it's strike two. All this afternoon, and let's hope the rain holds off right now, crossing my fingers, I say it, puts us all. No rain is imminent. We can get this game in. A lot of excitement coming up outside with the pitch as Carvin.

It's two-two. All of the regular starters, you probably know the rules, must go three-innings. They can stand as long as they want. The pitchers can go more than three unless it's an extra-inning ball game. Two-two, low, gets away from bench, you drop-so-ow to pick it up, that's three-in-two, and this is the first three-in-two count of the game. Very definitely, Jim. I think after Frank gets that ball, Carvin might just be pressing a little bit. Somehow, rather than those long, long runs, have a tendency to shake you up a little bit. You try a little harder than maybe you miss. Outtip the other night. Then I give in myself, former pitcher with a card, no, some hour congressman, Benorth-Galana said that he would like to investigate some of those lunar granules brought back by our astronauts from the moon. He said, I'm sure some of the balls that I threw for home runs were up there. Great two, and he strikes out. One run on Howard's Grammethone run, one hit, no errors done left at the end of two, then I should lay three. The American League won.

From Robert F. Kennedy, he stayed in the oil, stayed in Washington, D.C., Jim Simpson, and Seneca, Fax, Mel Stuttlemaier, is out of the ballgame. He worked two and he gave up three runs, two of those were earned. Four hits struck out one and walked over to the body, and Blue Moon hold him. Off the American, the mound to warm up, Senni. Jim hold him, he had a fine year for the American League, opened up. He's 14 and three on a year. He's got an ERA of 2.35, which is very fine. Now, Odom's got good stuff, but you can say that I guess about every pitcher in this ballgame. None of them would have gotten here without good stuff. He's got a sinking fastball, so he's got a fine curveball and slider. If Odom has had any trouble, he walks maybe one or two men, too many, but he's got pretty good control and great stuff. He'll be facing Hank Aaron, Willie McCubby, on Ron Sandor, and that's welcome to the All-Star Game for Blue Moon Odom.

Of course, Aaron and Sennor are righties, and Willie McCubby with all that car is a left-handed hitter. We pause 30 seconds for station identification. If something goes wrong with your washing machine, you know you're safer calling a washer repairman, not a jack-of-all-trades handyman. It's the same when something goes wrong with your car's transmission. You're safer with Amco. Amco fixes only transmissions, nothing else. Every one of the 550 Amco centers is a specialist with special tools and specially trained Amco men. So if something goes wrong with your transmission, full in at the Amco sign, AA MCO. Remember, you're safer with Amco. WNBCA and MFM New York. Hank Aaron, who's wind blown high-fly at a short length of a drop by Frank Howard back in the first inning, scoring a Lou from third base. Is the batter to lead off the third inning for the National League. The difference in the game has been Johnny Bench's two-run homer. And by the way, both homeruns have been well hit. Bench is into the Mezzanine in left. And Howard's into the Mezzanine in deep center view.

Freedom on the score. Aaron stepping in. 24 homeruns on the EU. Blue Moon Odom ready for his first-all start pitch. John Ball base hit to left field. Aaron has a base hit. Howard is in, picks it up one-handed, and first of the cutoff man, Petra Senney. Aaron is on the first half. Big William McGovern. Fading to the National League with 30 homeruns. Steps into the batter spot. Jim Lee's two squads have quite a contrast. The American League has hit many more homeruns. Over 100 more homeruns than National League. Squat with the National League. Squat has a much higher batting average as a team. The Gavi swings on the first pitch. Fouls it. Today Bristol. The manager of the Reds who's coaching it first and he keeps the ball in the game. Foul of Baltimore at first. Carue of Minnesota at second. Petra Senney bossed an ad. Short, Bando of Oakland at third. Howard of Washington in left. Jackson. Of Oakland in center. Robinson of Baltimore in right. Freehand at Detroit.

The catcher and the second American League pitcher. Blue Moon Odom of the Oakland Athletics. One strike pitch to McGovern. This one is low. For both of them it's one and one. Odom is ready. Ground ball again. Foul of the right. One and two. Three runs five hits. Doors for the National League. One run. One hit. And one error for the American League. And we have had a lot of fun. And we have a lot of fun. We have a lot of fun. We have a lot of fun. We have a lot of fun. We have a lot of fun. The National League one run. One hit. And one error for the American League. And we have activity again in the American League both in Denny McLean scheduled to start. In Detroit this morning where that dental appointment has gotten up and started to throw in the American League both in. One and two the counter McCutty with Odom staring in at his catcher. Bill freehand. Starting another game for the American League all started.

All hit deep to right field. Looking as Jackson this one is going. Well, high scoreboard. I just cried so long. Everybody talk about this game said it was not going to be a low scoring game. Well, I guess the experts pretty much knew what they're talking about. But they're going to get very hard. All the coverage is hit. That was just a line drive that never came down right up against the scoreboard. And of course, he was to the left. Much to the left to the mark in right center field. Which says 378 feet. So it is five to one. The National League here's Ron Sando. Grand of the third. Autumn a little upset. What's this ball in the dirt and pass freehand and it's one and only to Sando. Well, this could be one of those high scoring gains. Last year it was one and nothing. The last two years, two to one.

Already it is five to one. But there is a similarity. Here's a ground ball. Petricelli backing it short. It throws on the first of foul Lutro. But there's plenty of time for the first out of the National League third. I was going to say before Jim that Mayo Smith may use a pitch hitter next inning. When he had McLean warming up. But now I'm sure down four of the definitely go with the pitch hitter. And this will probably be. Odom's only inning in the ball game. Leon Jones who got on with a base hit. Magnificent stopped by Petricelli who flipped the caroo who threw the first. But Jones beat it out for the base hit. Jones in his first all star game has a base hit one for one and up for the second time. I said that. Many similarities. Or unusual things supposed to score in here in the last three games for the similarity is. The National League is on top again outside and low for motor. It's one of those. It won ten of the last eleven. We're last six in a row. And since 1949 of 117 have lost only five.

One of the pitch to Jones is low on its two and a half. Carlton has one more inning to throw of course. Three run lead could be the winning pitcher and as yet the second National League pitcher. As yet to begin the throw. Four run lead I'm sorry. Ground ball to Petricelli off this foot. And Jones to save the first base. There the first booze we have heard today. Well sorry I said that this was an impartial crowd. Jim I guess they really are rooting for the American League. The second hour of the day and the second judge to the American League spot. We've won out of two runs already. I have to run the score. The only bench with a one two pitch and a message he's seen to left field steps in this time to face Holden. And no one came off the starter and Mel Stunnellight. Low from Odom.

Ball one. Ben stands right in the middle of the batter's box. He could distance from front and back. And not too close to the plate and not far away from it. He's pointing the batter as he stares out at Odom for the one and O pitch. And then slightly to first base to throw us on the outside corner. Right one. Well there have been a lot of penets around. Hit it here Reggie, hit it here Frank. Who's going to be first? And in center field this is the truth. Very near where Howard hit it. There was a flag that said with a bull's eye on it who's to be first? Reggie or Frank? It was Frank at least in center field. Three home runs thus far in the game. One pitch, no, but to check it first base by Odom. And Jones is back in plenty of time. Odom ready again. This one of breaking pitches down low and it's two and one.

Two runs, upscored on Homer's by Ben. She's back now and by Winnie McCuff. One for Washington. Frank Howard, the only run for the American League. Five to one. Change up and it's line at the right field and Ben's keeps on hitting around. Second base goes to Leon Jones and the ball dies in the upfield. It is wet. Robins and fix it up throws it to Booth Thow meant on first and third with one out. And of course the man on third base is Jones who reached on the air. Jim so far this has gone all the national leagues away. There have been balls hit very hard but there have been some that haven't. The last one here by Ben was hit on the end of the bat and it just got over the head of the infielers and just died on the grass. So far the national leagues had it that way but it's a long way to go and that could turn around before the day is over. One out and the infield out double play depth. The man at first and third. I am Felix Beyond. I was rounded to Powell and assisted his half to play in six low from Odom Booth.

Now last time get the first pitch this time he stared at a low pitch. Naturally got a run in the first two in a second and two here in the third. Odom comes back low freehand blocks it keeps it in front of him. No advance by the runners. Two and O. Odom now stares out to center field. Now looks over towards left and takes a deep breath before he stays in the freehand. Beyond weights Odom is ready and throws. Ground ball foul at the plate comes back toward the screen. And again is one handed by one of the fans leaning over the railing. Two and one. Win or lose at the end the scores down five to one that Ashley we can say we are only glad the weather

rendered to allow us to see this 40th annual all star game in Washington on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Major League Baseball. Two unpits from Odom. Ground ball bounding and it is farewell over the head of the panel down along the left field line. One run it is and six to one to score. Bench hunter our second hard as to have five picking up the ball and bench will score at down to second. Those Felix beyond and it is seven to one. This is the kind of thing I was talking about before that ball was just a ground ball. It hit the ground took one very high up went over Sal Vando's head and down the left field line. It is not a ball hit hard but it counts as a double and drove in two runs for me on. Seven to one the score seven runs on eight hits. I know where is for the racially. And here is Steve Cullen who stands to benefit and it's not the winning pitcher today. This is going to be one of the wildest all star games you have ever seen.

He's got a six run lead beyond on a second. Odom stares him back nobody is there to take the throw. Odom went into the corner and just didn't come up with the ball. And now free hand calls time and runs up to talk to Odom. And now our left hander gets up and also starts throwing for the American League. Looks like there are noles of Washington and noles is warming pretty quickly. The claims it's down bus goes up from the crowd as they realize it is noles another Washington in throwing in the ball pit. Odom ready now to throw to color who is a good hitter. Now this one up upstairs to the left strike one. There are been two run homers by Ben Chin McCutty and a two run double by Phoenix Beyond on a ball that hit in the end. To the Kangaroo hop and spring's dead or let you lie in dormant and actually come back to the base both for calling a pair of both all the way.

And it was blown away from Odom. And that's one and one. Now they were tired saying here these low scoring ball games. And this is not one and we have still got six and a half innings to go. Odom ready. Ball hit out to left field. Like those Reggie Jackson Friday catch up he won't do it. And the eight run will score and Carlton has a double. He said he's a good hitter. He's not only a good hitter but he has got a seven run lead. Now the parents of Mayo Smith and ball has thrown back to Odom who wasn't looking and it very nearly hit him in the face. But passed him at the mound three hand picks it up. Noles is the only man warming for the American League now. He runs 90 in stores for the National League one run one yet two hours for the American.

And the National League very quickly in the butt. Booth Tau, Bando over to talk and I think Sanita simply trying to give Noles more time. Very definitely Jim. I'm sure Mayo Smith from the dugout sent both Bando and Powell in to talk to Odom to give Noles a little time to get ready in the bullpen. Noles is a relief pitcher. Has been for a long time. I'm sure it wouldn't take him too long to get ready. Mayo Smith, that last on his way out. I say it last at least that was the band's video by their flaws and cheers when he begins to appear. There is still only one out. There should be two outs. Jones who scored another one-earned run. There have been two on-earned runs and six pern. Now they're calling in Darryl Nold. Odom is allowed. Four runs pern. One uner. Has not even worked in inning only a third of an inning. Strike out nobody. They have no walks and walked four.

And it will be down Noles for the Washington Center. Make that five minutes for the middle of the water. Noles used to be internationally with a Philadelphia Philly. And came in a trade from Philadelphia to Washington for a darn lot. Noles until June of this year was in the Armed Forces in Japan. He came back and is now getting his standing ovation as he has brought up four pitches now in the car. Noles will step out in front of the American make duck out. Noles will pause now to tell you that down the right field line, 335 feet, 378 to right center, or 10 to dead center, 381 to left center and 335 again down the left field line. I think we gave you the umpires.

The band of six that are working this game. The American League umpires are a John Rift party behind the plate pops. They're at second Marty Springs that along the left field line from the National League. He's on a telly at first base Tom Borman at third and Tony Benson along the right field line. But the story now sandy co-fax is I know it can be done but it's an open gun overcoming a seven run lead in just the third inning. What was the first to put down on it? Jim it's awfully tough. During the season you say well you can come back but in ball games like this you've got some great victories sitting there in the bullpen. It makes it awfully tough. Of course you do have some great hitters in the lineup. I remember a ball game in Minneapolis in 1965 the All-Star game where the National League jumped out way out in front and scored I think five or six runs very early in the ball game. Maybe even in the first inning but before it was over it turned out to be a one run ball game in the ninth inning. So these two clubs there was such great talent on the field both pitching and hitting that anything is possible.

Noles has a 2.03 urn-run average since coming out of the service he is one four and lost one and is one of the reasons why Ted Williams is true. He's playing above the five hundred mark for the first time in years and years here in late July. Noles now must face Mattie Allue. Noles is the left-end or so is Allue. Mattie is two for two. First time he's faced the left-end of the day. Looks like the National League has his low pitch to Allue is warming up Mr. Robert Gibson. Which can hardly be good news to the American League hitters or fans. One and all to Allue. Eight to one the score. The National League. We are in the top of the third. Noles right again changes on a breaking pitch which is outside freehand held up there for a moment. Robert Red Flurry here in the American League says no sir. It's ball two. Now we had thunder and lightning of a different sort last night but there's been plenty of it here today.

Not all the weather's making. Noles is right back and this time he misses just inside. Carlton of course has stationed down on second base with his double. Well hit. He's got a half cent of field. And that was enough for manager Mayo Smith. Three in oh now as Noles is missed on three straight pitches. And only on the first was he far off the mark. Allue's waiting on it and it's strike one. Five runs in and missing. Ground ball a chance for Caru charges it and flips to Powell as moving on to third is Carlton and now two outs. So Darrell Noles worked the National League and the Major League's leading hitter Mattie Allue was two for two today to three and oh got him on three and one.

And then got him on the ground ball to Caru with Carlton moving on to third. Now the ninth man to bat Don Kessinger has grounded the Powell first but both times is the left-handed hitter against the right-hander Staddle Meyer. And now he's batting right-handed and grounds the first pitch to Petrocelli was up with it and throws on the first base nine men battered. And five runs scored on five hits and one error and one man left. In the middle of the third the National League ate the American League won. Caru, number 21, Sarasal, Sam, Marcus, 12, California, 92. Colorado, this week over 1,000 people will be killed on America's highway. If you're driving right now, Laura, think about it. At the Hartford, we think about it all the time. Yellow, five, yellow, 48, India, 30, Iowa, 16.

This is why we support safety programs that would get that drunk. The tailgator, the speeder, may, all the reckless drivers of the highway's. 15. We want to make the roads safer for you, 17. Michigan, 41. Minnesota, 18. Insurance by the High-Freed. We try to keep 27. Jim Simpson was sent to Gofax from Robert F. Kennedy Memorial, state of Washington. He had his eight-two on the National League. We're in the last of the third. Bill Freeman, the batter for the first time today. The catch is from the Friday evening at 249. Then we will have a pinch hitter for Daryl Knowles who got the job done. It'll be the major leagues leading RBI man, Harmon Killabrew, of the Minnesota twins, who is on deck right now. But for the moment of his freehand facing Calvin is trying to last out this inning. There's low ball one. He's three. And if he gets out without further damage, he will be leaving the ball, came with an excellent chance to win it, leading by seven runs.

Having driven in one himself with a double. Back to freehand, it is hot. And it's two at all. Bob Gibson continues to warm up. So Fred Cheneyne needs to fairly start with two of his own men. Yeah, I'm an National League game. That's the one, two, five. Long ride from freehand. Look out. It looks fair. He takes a two standing. And he gets to look like nobody's going to hit a cheap home run here today. All of them have gone upstairs. They've all been hit very hard. And you're right, there's going to be a lot of runs going to today's ball game. Harmon Killabrew stepping into Patrick Daryl Knowles, hitting a 281, 28 home runs, and 91 RBI's what kind of year is he going to have?

Like one, the killer room. Back with the big breaking vits, it's one and one. Well, Daryl Knowles, the Washington product, came in face two batters and got them both on ground odds to get the American League out of a big inning. But it's now retired. Breaking vits is up high from Carlton. Maybe the chucking the second base on the double. Maybe the long way to the top of the third has thrown him off. But he failed a retire freehand. That's an understatement, bill hit home run, and now he is two and one to killabrew. Long drive, high in the air. This may be higher than anything we've seen it is. But just in front of events, and it's the height of the dip that went in the bullfrog color back in the first inning. And Harmon Killabrew, Sanico Vax, not hit that so high, it would have been deep in the second inning. Very definitely, Daryl Knowles, let it all start, fly ball, let balls hit so high that it did get up above the roof of the stands, and the wind did keep it going out.

It's raw, true, lined up, back in the first inning, and it's strike one. I don't think I've seen one hit that high in this bullfrog. It looked like it was nearly above the lights. The roof swings and misses, and it's strike two. The score is eight to two when the last of the third, and you've heard the statement before, but don't go away. Beyond Jones, simply one of the fence and stood there. Yet one chance, outside and low to the two, it's one and two, and that is if it came down he could catch it. Otherwise, he could just sit there and watch. And with the wind blowing, I'm sure Cleon didn't know, and we didn't know what it was going to come down in the ballfrog. Got an hour ready, working on his last inning, one and two pitch. And this one is very close, but it's two to two. Jim, as high as the ball was, it killed a bruise. I think Jones would have had time to open the bullpen gate and go out in there, but I don't think it would have counted if he caught it in there.

Got him back, working with a two to count, breaking pitch, scooped into left field, overcome fatty allude, got a lot of speed, and his back caught up in the heat on, and he fixed it on the dead run for the second out. Allude came over, and then started back, instead of taking the angle on the ball. So I think part of the problem there for allude was the condition of the outfield. It's wet, it's soggy, it's self-to-changed direction. It looked like he was just trying to sort of circle a little bit rather than trying to make quick change of direction and possibly fall down. Reggie Jackson, the batter, upside ball won. The American League has two hits, one runs by Howard, and three hits. Off-counter, Jackson, 37 home runs on the year. Now out, the Sano made a fine play after railing, back in the first inning, into low pitch, two and 0. Eight runs, nine hits, doors for the National League, two runs, two hits, two hours for the American. Allude and ready for two and 0.

Swing and a miss, like one. In 1951, and again in 1954, the All-Star game record for most home runs, duplicated both years by both clubs six, and we have had four in this one. Jackson, fouled it off. One by bench, one by McCubby, one by Howard, and now one by freehand. And the way the boat is popping out of here today despite the humidity, we might go above that mark of six today. Two to the counter-reggie Jackson, two out after the lead off home run by freehand, in the last turn. Got on the left-hander, rose low, the Jackson, three and two. Gibson will be the next pitcher. He's the only man warming. Bob has had some knee trouble, but has still tied with Bill Singer for the most strikeouts in the National League. And that goes without saying is one way of the pitcher. Got him throwing well, is outside, and there's the first walk of the ball game.

And that will bring up Frank Robinson, right-hander better, but based on the left-hander throwing Steve Carbohs. Robinson looked at a cold strike three in a curveball, and in the first ten-year. Kim watching Carlton today, he definitely looks like he's laboring a little bit. He's had pretty good stuff, but he's missing with a lot of pitches, and I think probably seven days rest has got to be the cause of something like that. Got him now pitching out of the stretch for the first time today. Throws a curveball, that's the way he got Robbie before, but this one is inside ball one. Bassball fouled upstairs, it's one and one. Well, in this game again, you can see lots of green, meaning lots of empty seats. And we wondered how those who came out here last night only to be rained out can make arrangements to get out here again today. Eater, a lot of people called in sick took vacation or gave their tickets away in a hurry because we have got a son-of-the-year.

Everybody's here. The seats are all taken. Derb is outside of Robinson, he is two-in-one with two-out in the third and eight to two to score, then nationally. Reggie Jackson on it first base for the walk. Good one with Robbie waiting, and he swings the ball on it, hits it off the fist. Santo, as it goes to second for the fourth on Jackson Land, we have one run on the freehand home run. No errors, one man left. The end of three, the nationally eight, the American League two. Jim Simpson back at Robert F. Kennedy Memorial stayed him, and here's Johnny Jones with Commissioner Boykew. I'm standing in a hole when I'm talking to you. Charlie, you actually have a butterfly ball above you. Are there any plans for changing the voting for the All Star game? We've been thinking about giving it to the fans. I would like to do it. We need some controls so we don't get one city voting all their players on, but that can be done. What other All Star changes do you have in mind?

Well, I don't have in mind any particular All Star changes at this point, as long as they keep hitting the ball they're hitting it here today, I'm going to be very happy. The divisional races this year are making a big difference, as far as interest is concerned in Major League Baseball. All those questions about it, the divisional races, the executive gather with the faculty, and a lot of surprise teams. That's a great honor. I heard some doctor around the lobby this morning that you might want to put the All Star game in the Astridone. After the rain, I looked at last night I was dreaming about the Astridone, I could tell you that, but I think you'll keep on moving it around. Well, not only a great ball game today with a lot of hitting that you mentioned, but a tremendous social outing for the last three or four days, and that's a credit to you. So, and everybody that I talked to said that the dinner, the banquet, the other night, was the finest baseball banquet they've ever been to. I can only say Charlie that I thoroughly enjoyed it myself. So did I. Thanks for visiting with it. Nice to meet you, Charlie. Let's go back up stairs. All right, thank you, Charlie. John's and Danny McLean scheduled to start this game, but with a dental appointment in the trite this morning is David Washington.

And become the fourth American League All Star pitcher. Eight to two to score. Hank Aaron, what do you mean, Kevin Ron Sano? There have been no changes in the defensive lineup for the American League All Star. The plane's first pitch, throwing this battery made that Detroit Bill Freehan as high as off the glove of Bill, and props back ball one. And those still have their Petra Sully and short Karut, second foul at first, Howard and left, Jackson and center, Robinson and Wright. The plane comes in and Aaron swings and misses. Like one, one and one. Nationally, it got a run in the first two in a second and five big ones, only one of which was unearned in the third. All the raid runs to our unearned. The plane throws just this is the outside corner, two and one. Hank Aaron reached on an arrow with the lose scoring the first run on the air by Howard and left, that was in the first inning. And then singled and scored ahead of McCubby's home run in the third. I'll just one back, it's two to two.

Aaron with those amazingly quick rifts. And as many people have said, perhaps one of the most under-sund, under-publicized players in all of baseball. But this is his 18th All Star game and his 12th start. And check his home run total, center. His lifetime batting up. Right, this time, and I did it to it. I was talking about him and Hank's bike stuff. Jim, if you want to find out whether or not Aaron is underrated, talk to some of the left-amp bitches. I guess all the bitches in the national league. I don't think any one of us would ever have underrated Hank Aaron as the hitter. Here's what he McCubby. Get a no-one two-pitch in the first, round of the second, and then in the third. Get a line drive home run to deep right centerfield. It takes inside from McClan. Call one. Well, Howard came into the game, but the American League with 34 home runs, he has one. McCubby leads the national with 30. He has one.

Big curveball from McClan. It's Mrs. and it's 2-0. And in deference to Mr. McCubby, Dave Bristol, a Cincinnati manager and first-based coach, is firmly left the ballpark. He certainly left the coaching box. Long drive, Mrs. John, I believe, back to the order of the Roberts looking up. Hold on, take it to the order of the coming. I'm trying to choose. Jim, I guess, Denny doesn't know McCubby as well as some of us who had to play against him for many years. This one of the fighter, Change Up, hitters in baseball. It's a slow change up to Denny Thrill and McCubby waited on it and just hit it out of the ballpark in right field. 9-2, and we now have five home runs in this game. 2-by McCubby in successive times of that. Here's Ron Sano, and it's low from McClan. Ball 1-Sato has granted out twice.

Both times pulling the ball to the third baseman and the shortstop. 9-2, well, we'll say it again. They wanted more hitting in this game. The commissioner baseball was just talking about the hitting. He loves it. But I'm sure the fans do too, except American ligaments. It's two and a half, this pitch to Sano is high. But when they made no defensive changes, you can see that Mayo Smith is going to keep those big bats in the line up as long as he can. He doesn't need defense, he needs runs. The other pitch to McClan, again, high it away, and it's three and a total Sano. 1-out, 1 run in on McCubby's home run here on the top of the four. And on all four innings, the national league has scored at least one run. Great offense. Sano is swinging on it, but now tips him. Strike 1. That's an all-star record. Two home runs in the game, Archie Vaughn in 1941. Ted Williamson in 46, and now Rosen in 1954.

McCubby's got a little playing time left. 3-1 outside, and Sano becomes the first national leagueer to draw one. That'll bring up Cleon Jones. Jones has an infield hit and reached on an area and scored each time. Jones of the Metz. And of course the Metz are only two games down in the lost column. The Chicago Cubs in the national league's Eastern Division race, and it is a Cubs Sano who is on base in front of Jones. So for the moment, the tenet races were gotten. It's the first one high in the air in the center field. Jackson waiting, back striking just a bit over to his left, and has it for the second out. Sano trots back to first. That'll bring up Johnny Bench. It's got permission to stand another 12 hours or so from his military duty of the weekend

since last night's game was rained out. It'll one two fits for two on home in the second and singled and scored. And a meon's double in the third. So Bench of Cincinnati, starting predicted for him, is already doing quite well. A change by McLean is way outside. Ball one. That is quiet. But they have been electrified on many occasions. Oh, look out for that shot to the left. It bounces into the stands. Aster Oster almost blocked by a boy who was having a difficult time getting back into the stands, trying to pick up the ball and a special policeman. Aster Oster's loss is back in the stands. I would say that Leo might have a touch for a showmanship that is in the park police. Well, I imagine the park police been has his orders and Leo doesn't. Yeah, or a beat us. He's not listening.

It's one on one defensive. That was a wicked shot. Dane high and it's two on one. There are two outs at our first and the run-in. Jim, I think the greatest tribute anybody has made to Bench yet, Gene Mark, the manager of the Montreal X-Pose, was asked if he could have any player in the national league who would he take. And it was Johnny Bench that had expatched him. He said he would be my number one pick of all the others. Staddle Margayba for hits. Rotum gave up for hits. Make that five for Rotum. And one given up by McLean. On home run. Outside and it is three and two. McLean struck out in swinging but the cubby hit the change. Or a second consecutive home run. Denny, a little shaken, walk, Sano. Got Jones on a lazy fly on the first pitch to center. And now he's three and two to Bench. And there goes the run-on three and two and two out. Sano has to come back. It's fouled back to the screen.

Nine runs, ten hits, no errors for the national league, which has three home runs. Two runs, both on home runs, the two hits that the American League has. And two errors, each of which has led to a run. Not much rest for it all, Staddle. Team there goes Sano again, ball four. And McLean has walked another. The second walk, Sano goes down a second, that'll bring up Phoenix beyond. On deck, his early banks of Chicago encased beyond gets on. Banks will do the pinch hitting. Only one of the most popular men in all of baseball. But tired many times by Leo de Rocher of the manager of the Cubs. But Banks keeps playing his way right back in the run up at the age of 38. Beyond takes low. Felix of the Braves has grounded to the first baseman and doubled in a couple of runs in the last inning.

Comes up with a chance to do the same thing. He's got been on first and second with two out. Strike, one and one. As Beyond watched the ball, Nick the outside comes. You have a little feeling watching McLean here today that possibly he doesn't feel as well as he would like to. Danny's got a fine fastball. He is hardly thrown at it all. In the time he's been in the ball game. It's been all breaking balls. This is a breaking fix. It's fouled off to the right and will make the seat. And about an hour from now, Apollo 11 astronauts will be about halfway home from the moon. President Nixon was to have been here last night as on his way out to greet them, although at the aircraft carrier fornic. Beyond goes for a pitch up high and strikes out to the ending. One run on McCubby's home. One hit. No errors and two men left in the middle of the four.

The National League, nine. American League, two. Bob Gibson is our new pitcher. In the last of the four thinning for the National League, the second pitcher, Cardinals, worked his three innings. And the first pitch is fouled off. About a foul as he ducked to get out of the way. Gibson probably will only go one inning. We're not trying to out guess she needs his low fastball and it's one of one. But Gibby has had knee problems and she needs did say before the game he would like to get him in for at least a minute. And Bill Singer of the Dodgers is already warming up. Now ready for one and one and it is low and two and one. Now was blocked by the facet by the sliding Maddie Alloo. And it's not a two-manager in court at first base. Mission control in Houston has been giving our follow astronauts. I'm strong Aldrin and Coven scores of the games in time. Time and I'm sure that last night on the Redactual in the middle of the night quite surprised. And the last night on the Redactual in the middle of the night.

The first pitch is a two-manager in the middle of the night. And the third pitch is a two-manager in the middle of the night. And the Redactual in the middle of the night quite surprised. Two-two. Going for a low pitch towel swings and misses bench chases and down the line and takes him out. Do this what happens when a fellow has great stuff like Gibson. Kyle chased a ball and actually it bounced in the dirt. But if you wait too long you're not going to be on time with a guy like Gibson. Frank Howard and that's the theory. He holed him into the methanine and deep center field. Gibson, the fast worker, comes in with a fast ball and it's a low ball arc. And Howard has asked Red Flurry to take a look at that ball and finally he's going to toss it out right here and now. Remember the pitch before that struck out towel was in the dirt and picked up by Benchoo Taksfeld and the French and Durkau.

Gibson right back outside and low and it's two and over Howard. The pulling from the fans who are played they may not be able to see Howard swing the best. Low but around the knees. Lowes right, good luck. When you say low to Howard that's about 60 down. He is 6-7. And Gibson started to walk up and warm up and lost the ball. And started as wide up and suddenly felt that he didn't have the baseball. Fixed it up and ready to throw again way outside of all and it's three and one and a half. I'm lunched in at Storias for the last leg. 2-2 and 2 as Howard takes that big, high note cut. And this is three and two. Working very fast he's back and Howard bouts it off.

Still three two. The national league is scored in every inning the American league is scored on two home runs. One by Howard at that now as I can the second one by three and a lead off the third. Three two pitches low and Howard draws the line. That's the second one given up and Saddle Bando comes out. Step into the batting circle. The national league and now we're going to have a run of Ricky Smith that lost in his coming in at Howard. He's out of the gate. Now remember the American league has been playing without a regular center field. Smith can take over there. Howard is out of Bando Tech strike one after hitting a home run and getting a walk and also committing an error. You can look for a lot of substitutions no matter which way the game goes.

Brown ball might get through picked up by Kessas with half of the drop. Still not to check. That should be a basis. Kessas and Aaron get a great job. You can't look up short stop to get there if they hit by Bando. Jim Kessas you made a great play diving going to his left. They look like he lost the ball trying to get it out of his blood. If he could have gotten it out of his blood cleanly he would have had to play a second base. He could have gotten Reggie Smith coming in. There was a fine play on Kessas as far. One out there trying to get the Gibson singer warming up the Dodger pitcher. That's the study it's the first one in the center field and who started back. Now comes in Smith steps on second. Left scoring a third and the holds up there too out and that will bring a free hand. Last time up hit a home run. Find the two to score the national league. The American league trying to get these two men across the plate. Free hand has got the job of doing it. As yet there's nobody in the on deck circle.

They play in his pitchers and they could of course add wood of course, but for him should free hand keep this route going. And accordingly the American league bullpen is getting a little bit. It looks like Dave McNally of Baltimore is up to the throw. Free hand stands very close to the plate. As hit by many pitch Gibson throws away from him and that's ball one. You can both Gibson and free hand know each other pretty well. Got chance to play seven games against each other last year. So this is not like other times in the all-star game where the players don't know each other. Right back Gibson free hand hits this one in the center field of move. Watches the top points on this score for a single four free hand. Bando goes for third. Smith scores and it is time. Smith free. Now we'll wait for Rua's kneeling on deck. It looks like Minshire, Don Minshire, a left-handed hitter,

former Minnesota twin at Washington Senator, now with Seattle played with California for a couple of years, has home run power and came onto the all-star squad when Mike Egan could not make it. Minshire, a left-handed batter to go against the right-handed Bob Gibson. Gibson struck out foul, walked out and Bando got an infield hit, got set for seven to fly, lazily to center and then free hand, single to center on the first pitch. Minshire is about it. McLean is out after giving up a run, a hit struck out one and walking two. Time to three and Minshire with his big fat can make it a lot closer than that. We are just in the fourth inning and we are due to be here for quite a little one. Gibson throws Minshire started around, it's called a strike, whether it's a swinging strike or a call, I don't know, but it's strike one.

I think he didn't commit himself and break those rifts. Gibson back again, this time he's low, it's one of the one. No defensive changes for either team thus far but we will have one now that Howard is out of the game. What the American lead? One one, now back by Minshire. Not during the regular season getting two-forty but does have 17-0 months and 51 are the odds. Gibson throws and Minshire strikes out. One run on two hits, no errors and two laps and at the end of four complete knots the National Ignite and the American League 3. Climax just reduced the manufacturer's suggested retail price of the standard version B 102 doors at Dan by $193. Making it an even greater value than ever. Plymouth makes economy cars the way they're meant to be made. A Dave McNally has come on to do the pitching. He is from Baltimore, Paul Blair has gone to center field. He is from Baltimore, Reggie Smith, who ran for Frank O'Hill. Now, it has gone to left field and Jackson has come over to right field. And Mayo Smith is just out of huge consultation center, which way he's going to pass.

The fact that we've had a pitch hitter for the pitcher has the last out, I'm sure that the pitcher is going to bat in the same position that he came in at or in the ninth spot. I think that would give the manager a lot of time to get down to the pitcher hitting again. With the scoremine to three McNally's, come on now. I'm sure that you know that Dave, if you follow baseball at all, has won 13 ball games this year without a loss. There's a winning streak extending back through, last year. Any banks will come on. I do the hitting. For Steve Carter, banks was in the on deck circle at the end of the fourth inning, remember, but the on strikeout and the inning. And so any banks, he always says and loves to say when you're having a really good field, welcome to the friendly confines of Reggie V, 38 years old.

The oldest player in either league, that is not a pitcher. What he made is a couple of months young. Banks plays day in and day out. And this year, hitting a 266, but has 79 RBI's and 15 home runs. Gibson is out after pitching his winning. And then everyone in in gave up a run, a hit struck out two and walked one. And the man that he walked is the man that scored. Banks to face Dave McNally of Baltimore in this nine to three game that nationally glides. Breaking pitch inside and low, but Banks went around on it, taking a big cut and it's strike one. A dipping curve ball from McNally of Baltimore. You've heard the names of a lot of Orioles. They've got the most here.

Five of them only Brooks Robinson has not been in the game. Fitch from Dave McNally, he stares down at the now, and apparently tripped a little bit as high and it's one and one. Brooks Robinson is not a starter this year for the first time in many years. Player, power, McNally, and Robinson. Everybody but Brooks has been in. One one pitch to Banks swings up and outside, but it's this time and it's one and two. Ernie owns the highest fielding average for a shortstop in major league history. Said well with the Chicago Cups and her memories, most valuable player, two years in a row. When the Cups were not winning tennis. One and two, big curve ball, but it's high and it's two to. McNally taking his time. There have been no infield changes. Only changes in the outfield with the American League. McNally is back and this ball is right. The Fed for Sunday. Born now.

Jimmy almost sells like the crowd is a little tired from all the hitting in the runs being scored. It's been just perfectly quiet this top half the hitting. Here is Maddie Alloo who has single and scored a run in the first, single in the second. And the first time he faced a left hand in the third, he run him out. And guess who is on deck to batford Don Kessinger? Will he may? So the San Francisco Giants. Outside and high from McNally. Kessinger failed to hit in three times at bat. But nevertheless made a fine feeling. Inside to Alloo to an O. And only may steps up the bat for Don Kessinger. This will be his 20th appearance. He's already got the Orstale records for hits, runs, stolen bases and putouts. This is a strike on the outside corner to Alloo, 211. And over the previous 19 games his average is 348 for the All-Star game.

Turn one count to Alloo, tiles it back, it's 22. One out here in the top of the fifth, the National League has yet failed to score in any inning. They've scored an every in. One run in the first, two in the second, five in the third, another in the fourth. The American failed in the first, but have a run in each of the last three innings. It's 9-3 to the National League. Outside and low to Alloo and it's three in two. Singer who did the warming up and apparently will succeed Gibson is no longer throwing. Outside and low again in McNally has walked Maddie Alloo to his speed and here comes Woody May. The standing ovation for this is money to parents in the All-Star game. The Alloo

is the Alloo is the Alloo has 23 hits in All-Star play, 21 Storm has gone in six bases, 50 putouts, 348 batting average. That scored the only one in last year's one and nothing win by the National League. Takes inside there and then he gets in. And Woody was 38 also, showed pretty good reflexes and getting out of the way of the pitch. Just had the Yankees right put out of the way at the last moment. Jim, all the years I've seen Willie play, it's rare that he ever gets hit. He's got such great reflexes. The ball is anywhere near him. He's not there. One of the O's Macau that he's just over the Lou with one out. John, all the fouls that he stands. Well hit, one and one. That particular portion of the left field stands better put on its batting elements.

Johnny Vent shook him up last time it back. Nine to three to score the National League and the top of the pit. May's fouls this one, this one goes into the National League dugout and may's points of think that someone who obviously picked it up. It's one and two to Willie. Jim Willie's the kind of hitter who is, who used to call the Bible hitter, you know, about shout-knuck pass. He just doesn't take a pitch. It's rare that he doesn't get his full swing. The ball has to be pretty far off the play before Willie's going to take it. Like not a looking over first and now coming in with the pitch outside, but may's instant to right field. Reggie Jackson comes over and near the warning crack and has it. And a little goes back. May's as we die.

And guess the hand. Hank Aaron who has reached in an era as single and squirt around in a struck out. Two down now on a little is still first over first pitch. National League will be forgiven if they're not running too often. They do have a six run lead. And the way the balls have been flying out of here, five home runs so far, two by McCubby. Kurt Baldrup's right over the plate. I think with a light up like this, you don't run as often as you would with an ordinary team that plays every day. You don't want to take yourself out of anything or lose a man on base when you've got these kind of hitters to follow. And you know there are going to be some long balls and some base hits. One strike fits to Aaron, hit the center field. The player started back now and now waits in touch. And ball for the moment, hit North for the third half. Look at this. No one's so hit story on that one left. And the middle of the fence still to national league nine, the American League three.

WNBC, AM&FM, New York. This is the 40th annual All-Star game from Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium in Washington, DC. And this is Jim Simpson with Sanico Facts. For the National League, as we move to the last of the fifth, I'd run 10 hits, no errors. For the American League, three runs, four hits, and two errors. Rod Kuru will lead it off facing the third pitcher, one of the National League, the Bill Singer, who has won 13 and lost 7. Died with Gibson for the lead in strikeouts of the National League, and has earned one average, a line 1.97. A couple of defensive changes.

Roberto Clemente has gone to right field. What he may as does not stand the game. And Dennis Minky has gone to shortstop. And if Pittsburgh and Minky, of course, doing one of the greater jobs around the league, as a shortstop, a lot of folks thought that Dennis did not have a range to play, but with the Astros and the Astrodome he has been having an amazing year. And it has been voted to the All-Star Squad to run a Selectify Manager Red Chandings. So Singer is ready, and this is the pitcher Sanico Facts of whom you know something. Yes, I do, Jim very definitely. Bill has a great fastball. He throws very hard, and it's a sinking fastball also. So he has a lot of ground balls hit off of him during a ball game. He doesn't have a great curveball, or really you can say a good curveball. His curveball is more like a slider, and he uses that great effect. He tries to break it inside on the left hand hitters, and get it out away from the right handers. But his best pitch is the fastball, and he's one of these guys who can overpower a hitter.

Lot Drew who leads the American League with a 360-4 average. As line to left, and a little bit of good running catch on him. In the center, he and the third, and he takes strike one. Drew is hitless, and there's All-Star Game. He's been in the league three years, and this is his third All-Star Game. Singer is back and throws another strike. If an ease, it's all in two. Drew made it as a rookie when he was rookie of the year. Made it last year, and has made it again this year. And of course, he's having his greatest season right now. Ball hit down the first baseline. McCubby gobbled it off and takes four or five steps to step on first, and is one down and the last of the fifth. And here's Reggie Jackson who has fouled out to Sano at third and as well. Every time Reggie gets up at first, they hold their breath. They know he's got 37 home runs on the year. Hall player will bat next. He went in for third batting spot, placing Frank Robinson who's out of the game.

Jackson fouls one off to left. Strike one. Well, the Oakland athletics in their home uniforms, which include includes gold and green and white shoes. Singer ready to throw changes on the ball. It's outside and high and it's one and a half. It's him it's interesting. I think out of respect to the opposing hitters, most of the pitchers in this game who have good fastballs and who during the year would use them more have thrown a lot more curveballs. Back high and off the glove event. Turn one. I'm acclaimed through a change to McCubby. He hit it for home run, but then again, Denny wasn't throwing hard at all. Gibson through hard, but there's a couple of breaking pitches. But most of them you're right, Sano. Have been breaking pitches. Looking for the fastball and Jackson swings a misses at two two.

They tell you are called into pitching a ball game like this. You just have to respect the other team, you have to respect the other line up right down to the eight men. Singer of Big Man, 6'4", 200 pounds, comes back and Jackson hits it high. And it's not going to get out of the empty. Singer is trying to get out of the way of Ron Sano. It's come over the first base out of the mound and has it for the second out. Another doing everything of all star quality. They hit a high ball. It is high. Very definitely. They did. It looked like Bill Singer did not know where to go. The pitcher's job is to call the infieler. He was to take it from Bill Cook and get out of the way of Sano. Here's ball player hitting 3-11, 19-0-1s, 52-RBI's from the Baltimore Royal Center. Feeder has Chuck Sway from inside pitch. Jack Knights. And it went through between his legs and his chest and the open portion of the jackknights. William Arcanic did stop the nationally from scoring in the top of the fifth.

First time they've done that, player swings a misses and strike one. Jim looking at Blair, he's right up on the plate. His left leg is almost touching home plate. I'm sure that first pitch from Singer had a little meaning behind it. Outside this time of the change. One-wonder player, two out on the last of the fifth. Passionlake's biggest outburst in the third when they got five runs. The McCopy has hit two home runs for the National League. Bound off by player. Benches also hit home run. Freehand on Howard hit home runs for the American League. The record is six home runs for two clubs done twice in 1951 and 1954. He had five home runs on this game. Singer is ready. Hit off the fifth. This is catchable. Jones coming in. Minky going up. Minky is there. Pass it for the third out. No one's going to hit Sway's not left. Not the end of five. The National League is on the American League. This is Zip Collins, the voice of the Internapples 500.

Here in Victory Lane. To interview this year's winner, Mario and Dreddy. Mario, congratulations for turning in that record speed of 156.867 miles an hour. How does it feel to finally win your first 500-bar race? It's just fantastic, Sid. I know the name of your call is the STP oil treatment special. But did you also use the new STP gas treatment in your fuel for this race? Yes. It helps fuel the jabburn cleaner for cleaner combustion and cleaners pipelines and everything else. If you can feel the difference, STP gas treatment makes it your winning race car, Mario. It must make a tremendous difference in the way folks pass and jacars perform too. That's why I recommend it. You always use it in your own pass and jacars? The SSN2 will announce my cars. Drivers take a tip from any of the average 500-bar race winner, Mario and Dreddy. Next time you fill up your tank, add a can of STP gas treatment. Just pour it in and pour it on. Get it in the water. Dim Simpson, the satin cool back from Kennedy Memorial Stadium in Washington.

I'm Dreddy and I'm actually going to look at the top of the six and get up those scorecards. Red G Smith who was in left field has proved to like me. Cardiast Rensky has gone into play in left field. And Mike Andrews has come into play second place, brought to Rua's home. And Reggie Jackson is also up. So now you have tower ball board first. And there's a Boston at second. And facility of Boston at short, Fando of Oakland. And third, Cardiast Rensky in left for Boston. Ball player ball board center. Red G Smith, the Boston in right. Bill Freeam behind the plate in the rally starting a second inning. Now the top of the job he's got. He's got a base. Wooden recovery for the last two times up as he'd home run. He's center, he's on deck. And McDowell is now warming up for the American League and the National League is also warming up so much. Finally, a family's warming up is coming to catch. Breaking pitch to McCutney from the left hand.

And this is the first time that Woody's ever faced a left hand in the day. And it drops over there for strike one. One of them, if you can get three home runs and all start playing in a row. Please, you'll see. Here are ball misses outside and it's one on the McCutney. The cover, a giant of a man. Six-four. And he took a giant of a cut. Strike two. One and two to what he McCutney. Grounded out on an O2 pitch to Peru at second in the first. Home run in the third and home run in the fourth. Now must protect that play. McNally with the one to pitch. McCutney strikes out. McNally's first strike out. Dave has given up a walk but has retired the other four batters he has faced. On the American League, he's not the only one you can say that for except for Dell knows if it's Johnny Tumem and retirement both.

On Saturday the matter. He's grounded out twice in one. Time to three, the National League, in the top of the sixth inning. The game that was delayed from last night by Reigns that you wouldn't believe. McNally throws and it's a strike. They had to pump out the American League dug out. There were over three inches of rain here at the ballpark in an hour and up to seven to twelve inches there were in the Washington area. Settle thousand off. Washington DC of course is the district that come up here looking at the green, Maryland and Virginia. And over in Virginia it was so hard hit that they could not run special buses to the ballpark this morning because of the conditions on the roads. Two strikes out of Settle. McNally throws and Mrs. Roundup to the right high in the stands down the right field line. Hello, the Toronto City of Chicago.

McNally wears his cap like he slanted to the right almost to my processor, my tip of the center. I think a lot of bitches dug out their cap after every day they throw it there. Their hats start to look pretty bad after a while. Two strikes pitch big here ball but it misses and it's one and two. Leon Jones is on deck. Not again, quite for the moment. There have been a lot of fireworks. Ball hit down to Petra Sully. Up throws out Settle for the second time. The three goes thrown out line and they're two down on the top of the second. And with our question, learning what might happen in the future. The most effective picture is that it knows that it's two men. Has been Dave McNally. Stuttle milder surprise starter ran into the other end of the road. They've all run and we're earned 5 all together. Five hits struck out no less. They glade hit up the run.

The money hit and walked two of his one in it. Oh, the vote for the best American League pitcher thus far has to go to Dave McNally. But it's the national league with a six run league. Here's Jones. One for three. Also reached on America, he has scored twice. Ball won. Nick Dow continues to walk. Big curve ball and it's a strike. One and one, the Leon Jones. Nick Dowdy again ready. Goes inside this time. That's two and one. Standing I want to send along our greetings and best wishes to the service men listening. By the on-fourses radio Vietnam, the Far East, South America, and in Europe. Two and one pitch to Jones. Big curve ball. It stays up high and it's three and one.

The lights have been on since the before the game began. It was rain and at times very high for about 40 minutes before the game began. Dowed off on three one pitch of three two. How long since I'm getting that extra day off Saturday everybody must go report to their ball team. Wherever it is. Frank Hartford, that will ask for the West Coast. Join the center. Three two pitch. Blinded the center field and Jones has a second hit of the afternoon. That's the first off day McNally. And that is the 11th of American League pitch. Here is Johnny Ben. There is a whole front, a single and a walk of perfect capital. He is driven in a run and he is scored twice himself.

Old bitch from McNally. All on. Nine runs, feet 11 hits. No airs for the match. Three runs for it. Two hours for the American. All right, let's see if the audience is looking up the net for this. He is leaping forward and one hit. And all start again. My all start card is $30.1 billion. One last one, the number of 6th of National League time. National League time. The American League ring.

Jim Simpson with Sanico facts. We have some changes in the National League lineup. Lee May has gone into play first base from Cincinnati. Tony Perez also of Cincinnati. His home run won the old star game two years ago at N.R. I'm has gone to third. Randy Huntley has gone in behind the plate. To replace Johnny Ben. Who had a perfect afternoon with a home run and a second walk before. Todd is Srebsky. Sanico facts wealthy of home run. Very definitely. Jimmy Streski made the great play. He did it the way it has to be done. The ball went up. He went right through the bench. He got back there and did a little shorter. He could have come in. If he had tried the time to get to the fence, he could never have caught it. Srebsky grabbed the fence. Jimtum actually reached over the fence into the bullpen to catch it and made just a magnificent catch out there in left field. There's another ball and if it hadn't been hit quite that high, probably would have gone into the upper deck. The ball was a tremendous fly ball hit by Ben. I always say it's going to be a super star. Here's Boob-Thowell to face Bill Singer pitching his second inning and he takes low ball one.

Now that's far as Ben Rampus received by Mattie Lue on a sliding catch and center field, having struck out in the four. I'm the three to score the national league. And have we had the excitement to hear this afternoon. Sanger right back with a fastball at power misses. And it's one and one. Now it was really gloomy around Memorial Stadium last night Kennedy Memorial when we were rained out. It looked like he would never stop running. It looked like the stadium would float away. But this is another day and one of all gets it. One one to Boob-Thowell off the corner and it's too long. And as you said, Sanger, Bill Singer throws effortlessly. Jimties what the players will call sneaky fast. He throws very hard but it doesn't look like a lot of effort. He has this nice smooth easy motion before you know it. The ball's on top of you. The ball's start off by Powell. McDowell continues to warm up for the American League and the national league has a man up and throwing from the New York Metz Jerry Kuzman. Sanger is very nearly the look of the year.

It's had a great year last year. He got up to a little rough start this year but it's back in the groove with the Metz for making a charge at the cut. Now there's a count of two to it. So we got that in the last of the six nine three to the national league. The last ball hit off the fists and bowed in the stands again. Reggie Smith is on deck. Smith had yet to bat. He came in as a runner for Frank Houghts. Alright, probably even hours on his way west. He's got a long cut ahead of him. As the amenities play, including all of the open analytics with that. Two two, big change but it's high and it's three and two. As of this moment, the American League has plenty of time. But as the game goes on, of course, time becomes more precious than the last of the six right now and they're treading by six runs. Sanger with a three to pitch. Last ball but it's too high and there's another one. Very high. Jones comes in and left. A little is circling behind him and Jones actually takes it in short left field.

But a little looked like he was going to go outside to state him and wait and then start circling back. Jim L. was hit high and the wind brought it a long way back into his infield. I don't think that a chance to go out of here under any circumstances. But you can call it at all star-fought fly if you'd like. It was high. Here is Reggie Smith, hitting 3.39 with 19 home runs on the year. Smith had it again, Singer. It takes a strike. First Reggie is one of the five switch hitters. You need to leave. That's an interesting story. Smith as you wait. Swings and misadtive. When he was heard earlier this year and he saw all of the ball that's going through the cardiest time scheme. Mike Andrews is a boss. Bigly ours. He said, I figured that I wanted some of those headlines. So after he came back from his rest look out, just coming back for us. I'll back strike two. He said, I just came back with a lot more desire than I had when I was there.

They credit 10 Williams. It was about an instructor with Boston before becoming manager of Washington. And a lot of his success. Pull into one out, in the sixth. Outside it's one and two. The national league took the lead in the first inning and has never come close to relinquishing it. There's one or nothing. Then three to nothing. Then three to one. Five to one. Six to one. Six to two. Six to three. Round ball. And for me, on, who wobbles it up, then goes on to Lee May at first fix. And there's you down. That'll bring up Sal Bando. Very comfortable. Green shirt. Number Jersey. Red batting helmet. Green and yellow stockings and white shoes. Red like green and orange. Bill Singer. The third national league pitcher. Side by Bando. Back goes Saloo. Looking up Winshut. Bring it back now.

Loose drops in the step and has it for the third out. The round's to it. Stoyers done. Now at the end of six balls. The national league has a thick lead. Time to three. Reach out. Touch a dream that's closer than ever before. The great new Chrysler. A dream you can afford to have. New port. Chrysler luxury. Chrysler prestige. Yet price just a few dollars more per month. Send the most popular smaller car with comfortable equipment. A few dollars. Without a doubt you can afford that. The fourth car. Chrysler. Your next car. The affordable dreams. Chrysler. Your next car.

Chrysler. Chrysler. We have a new pitcher. The Florida American League. It is big Sam McDonald. It's like an artist. The Cleveland Indians. This year is 1-11 last time. I learned what average of 2.73. Everything else remains the same. With the exception of a fellow brother named Brooks Roberts. It was ruled in at their base. Roberts had not voted in the old star squad this year. But he had started the last five games before Bando beat him out of the audience. But Brooks is over there now. I have to go some to get past some plays that he made by Pepper Sully, by Kessinger. I have a remarkable catch. I have the left of the wall by Carl Jostemsky. Very definite. If anybody is capable of making great plays, it's Brooks Roberts. I have seen him in the old star games and his world series.

Just about the only time a couple of times he's doing training. But he's unbelievable. Nobody makes some of the great plays it Brooks makes. He's great at charging on the ball and he's great at protecting the third baseline. He dives and is just miraculous. Some of the plays he can make in third base. I would assume now as we see we also have a new catcher, Sandy, that you know his name and something about it. Very definite, Leandro. John Rose Morrow from all of you. John thought for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He's now with the Minnesota twins. And I couldn't be happier to see John on the old star team. Last year he went to Minnesota at a horrible year. Didn't get started. It looked like he wasn't going to hit over 150. But here he is, his second year he's on the old star team. Felix Bion will be the first to face Sam McDowell. McDowell will be facing Bion who has won for three of double. That's drove in a couple of rounds and he also scored on a double by Steve Couton who could be the winning pitcher. It's like one to be on.

McDowell is another one of those twins. We have a lot of pictures. And there's a picture singer in there for the Dodgers and the National League is 6'4". Another pitch high and McDowell stands at 6'5". Sam is ready and here's the one one pitch. Get off the fish and foul back for the National League dug out and bounces up past Clametti. He's on the in the on deck circle for his first time at that. Clametti will note is batting in the number 9 spot. One and two to be on. Nine to three to score the National League and this one is fouled upstairs to the right. All team swing back in action tomorrow. The old star break is over.

After the day, Grand Ball, Brooks Robinson charges it, takes it up just inside the line. And McDowell up the line, tagged him as he went by but standing at third base was Tom Gromand gave no indication and it was a foul ball. Gromand never said fair foul. Robinson scooped it up, made a fine play to fouler to come up the line to take the throw, tagged me on. Breakplay but foul ball. Jim Tim Gromand could not see the play. Brooks Robinson screened him off but Red Flurry behind the whole and homeplayed him for a head to call at and he did pretty quickly. It still says, oh and off to me on on the board but they all settled this because now it's a fair ball to rob. And soon throws him off and they're talking to some. And here is Roberto Clemente. The man with a great arm, a friend batting on, many times, National League champion. And running this year, getting a 338.

And last year before the all-star break, Roberto wasn't getting much at all. Good and shoulder at home came back after the year and finished with a near 350 clip. And he started out this year hitting 338 thus far. So he's at 20 years. McDonald's running Clemente right in at better fouls at fact. Nine runs 11, it's no errors for the National League. Three runs four hits, two errors for the Americans. Startle Meyer stands to be the loser, Steve Codden, of the Codden, and the winner. McDonald's runs back and throws high in the heart. It's 111. Jim McDonald's getting a lot of help here. I don't think anybody in the American League light up knows these players as well as Roseboro does. Catching for all those years in the National League, he knows every one of them that walks up there. And it's got to help a little, a picture quite a bit. Right down ready for the one and one. Stouled back by Clemente. There have been five home runs in this ballgame with Cubby House two for the National League.

Bench one, Howard and Freehan hit them for the American League. The early goring was vast and serious. But when he came down to the results, it was all nationally. Each of the home runs at Friday, American League, nobody on base. Committee reaches across the plane and fouls this one back. Jim Clemente is a bad ball hitter. There's really no way you can say that you're going to fetch to Clemente. You can throw him a strike and you may swing him in medicine and throw the ball three feet over his head and he's lively at a home run. And that pitch there was way outside of a Roberto. It was trying to go to right field with it. And he's got his good power to the opposite field as anybody I've ever seen. One, two, pitch. Real to pass balling for many drills and upstairs and another high pitch and it is up. High in the second deck. But very foul. He hits the short cut. Still one and two. Well, I remember that this is the 40th annual All-Star game from Washington DC on NBC and the next time we'll be back with baseball.

Well, series time. Oh, this pass ball from McDowell. Very nearly had Clemente swinging and Bernily had red bread behind the plate saying strike three. But just missed it. It's two two. McDowell, one of those, that when the amount was five inches higher, but his six foot five frame could really wear back and throw from upstairs. Down at you. Here's the two two bits. And he swings and misses dropped by Rose Burl who attacks him and again, Sandy Duck wasn't one of the best bitches to swing up. Good wasn't Jim. It's a low inside curve ball, but you may strike him out on it one side and he may hurt you with it the next. I don't know if anybody has ever devised a plan to get him out. You take your chances. As Maddie Aloe hits his first two times up, round and round and walk, ranked center field, hitting a 354. I'm the three-dimensional egg. We're in the top of the seven. Time running out on the American leg.

Right. I think the fans got up along the left of your line with the scoreboard, and momentarily only showed and now that you start on, they meant Aloe was causing upstairs to the left. Since Aloe was the left hand, Unso is McDowell. Sam stepped out to his left toward first base and threw from Nilea at first base. That's the same thing again and Aloe strikes out. Now I'm still hit. No air is. I'm not right. I'm just putting down strikes out too in the middle of the seven. I shall take mine and the American leg free. Mr. Yankee Duda. Yankee Duda. One, two. M. Sonsan Darketh, Kennedy Stateman Washington and Charlie Jones as a guest. Who is Charlie Garrett? Who is the all-time-rated living secretary of Charlie Garrett? Charlie, you played in the first six All-Star game. You noticed any difference in those six in the game we're watching today?

Well, a little bit different. We were winning a few of them, and now it seems to be quite a charm. You also mentioned to me that we were watching this ball game a little different from the hitting in the National League and the American League then. This is true. We had a bunch of far back in Mayer. In fact, the National League are used to watch up and stand by the side and watch the batting practice. Now they've put up with a semi-fraid on that. Perfect. Congratulations on the great honor you received two nights ago. Well, it's an awful tough task to pick an all-star ball player of any position, but I'm really grateful. You got to be lucky, I guess. Thanks for visiting with us. You're welcome. Let's go back upstairs. Again, we have some changes in the Jerry Kuzman has come in as the fourth National League pitcher, Jerry Nahn and Jim on the year with a 3.32 average. He replaces Singer who works two innings and retired the six men he faced in a row. And Glenn Beckard of Chicago has moved out to play second base, replacing Felix Beyond.

His Rico Petra-Sally facing Kuzman left-handed and he swings in misses like one. Now it is Mayer first, back at its second, make it short for Reset Third. Johnson left the Lewin Center and flametti can write. Huntly the catcher and Kuzman the pitcher. A nine to three to National League. Kuzman is back with a little pitch, it's one and one. That for Sally today struck out of the second and fly to short center, getting the first pitch in the fourth. One, one, pitch, wing in a miss. It's one and two. One deck, batting in three hand position will be John Rosberg. Low, and it's two, two. Jim it's pretty good trivia to Jerry Kuzman here to be selected by the managers in the National League. Jerry doesn't have the record that a lot of the other pitchers in this ballgame have.

He's only 8 and 5, but he was out with a sore shoulder most of the start of the season. I guess they know what he can do. This one is drilled down to left the alive. This is a bad ball, Petra-Sally can write. The Johnson's up with it fires into the cutoff man. At short start, we just wait for it and it was a double. We are 7 things for the dark and the winter start of light is Rico Petra-Sally. Jim never feels like it was a joke to say something nice out of player. That's right, Jim. Rough rules having stuck out the head camera. We're saying our great thank you to them and we'll start out. Here's Rollsboro, who is having a good year. Getting 276, two home runs, 20 RBIs, left hand to batter. And Texas strike up to these from Jerry Kuzma. Nine runs, 11 hits, two hours for the national league. Three runs, six hits, two hours for the American and first your fingers. I think we're going to get through without any more rain. Rain has not disturbed this game. There was rain before the game. Of course, we rained out last night.

Rollsboro props this one in a short left semifield. Jones comes in, a Lou over. A Lou takes it and runs back to secondest Petra-Sally. One down. Now, Rollsboro steps in. Rollsboro. Rollsboro. All the year, if I have a great year, it's in 37. But Rollsboro starts at half-cours, well, that's a good blow. 15-0 runs, 54 RBIs. This one's ready. Rollsboro is right hand, it's going to watch this strike. It's going to be on a breaking fit. Carlton started, gave up two runs on two home runs and three innings. Gibson worked in any single work too, and now it's Kuzma. Strike again. Let's didn't believe this. All in two. Petra-Sally's down at second base with one out on this nine-to-three game. And time is running out on the American League, which has lost ten of its last eleven.

It's last six at a rose. Kuzma throws and Robinson strikes out. That's the fourth strikeout, and strangely enough, singer who has tied with Gibson for the National League lead in strikeouts, which had six minutes of row and struck out no-but. That's where the ball's going to start. Here's my Ganderoo. Ganderoo's happy to be here. Ganderee's got him down a little bit and they said, in Boston, where Mike was out of the line-up, the red shark's began to pick. Here's the leader as well as a good hitter. Hitting a 306 on month, 25 RBIs. Kuzma throws and it's another strike on the inside corner. Petra-Sally with his lead off double is still out there, and Ruz's teammate is about it. Kuzma pitching from the stretch comes back and the ball is fouled off to the right.

It's all in two. Kuzma has great control. He works the plate inside, outside, with his fastball. He's got a good curveball. He's consistent in getting it over, and that's what it takes. You've got to have more than one pitch that you can get over well and get over when you're behind the hitter and consistently be able to throw strikes with it. Jerry Kuzma does that. Born to the count. Ruz has been ready to throw and is a bouncing ball charged by Perez-A-3rd. Its host was teammate May 1st and Kuzma and the National League are out of the inning. No runs, one gets no errors, and one left. Now at the end of 7th, the National League 9, the American League 3. High-curt-Gaudy. How'd you like to get a Tecmatic Razor by Gillette? Kennedy Memorial, Stadium in Washington, DC. Jim, for Gosey, at truck stop now, for the back of the day, guys, Dennis, thank you. They used some Astros, gets his first time at that. Thank you, now, playing at truck stop and hitting 304 on the season six home runs and 60 RBI, facing those six American League pitcher Sam McDowell and swings in Mrs. Strike One. I'm to three to score the National League. They've been five home runs in this game, three by the National League, two of those by Willie McCubby. And we're now on the top of the eighth inning. I'm as really running out on the American League, spring and miss again by Minky, and it's 0-2. Six in a row, 10 of the last 11, 17 and five since 1949. So the National League is done to the American. Strike off, crawl strike at the knees from Sam McDowell, who's now struck out three.

Jim McDowell's got great stuff. He's got a great fastball and curveball, change up. He tries to throw anything. Sam ever has a trouble. He's been guilty of trying to experiment too much. But the managers and his coaches have tried to get him 50s, three or four pitches instead of all. One beckerd is up, of the Chicago Cubs, and takes a big turn for Strike One. Beckerd, the M-field leader of the Cubs. All four of the Chicago Cubs infield is R here. This pitch misses, and it's 1-1. Beckerd sideline the lot. The bad thumb was in a cast, and he took it out of the cast one day and told the other ratio of that day I want to get back and play again. Getting a 302. Style tipped. Decker and Negro, two more fine pitches for the National League are up and throwing in the bullpen. The Chicago Cubs infield have made surprise some as lead the National League in fielding for quite some time now.

A young infield and a good one. One and two to Becker to centerfield. Over quickly, his ball player who has speed catches up to the bottom has it for a second out. Ray Culp, a Boston, has started to throw for the American League. Now, Lee May is up as McCubby. Four or four, but two home runs and four times as that has been retired and May is up for the first time. May hitting 322, 29 home runs and 75 RBI's. I laugh because McCubby had 30 and May steps in with 29 and takes inside ball one. Lee, younger brother Carlos, could be the rookie of the White Sox sitting over the American League dug out. Two and all, the score bounces in the dirt. If Carlos does get into this ball game, it will be the first time that brothers in an all-star game have opposed each other. They have been on the same team many times before, but never opposed each other.

Two and all are made, two out of the eight, one shot right by Leo de Rocher. At third base put a spell. Time to free the National League is May with a lot of talent. There are those who say that as good as Lee is, younger brother Carlos might be better. Time will tell us that. I've never get a medal against any. Another foul by off to the left. I love by the unprofited security police. Two, two, two out, nine to three to score, and the top of the eight. McDowell throws and strikes out Lee May and matters before strikeout for Sam McDowell. What a few atings he's at. No arms, no hips, no hips, no left. In the middle of the eight, they're still the National League nine, the American League three. Sid Collins here, the voice of the 500-bar race, read a few of this year's winning car owner in the 1969-500-Crossing Andy Granatelli.

Congratulations Andy for a hard-fought win after 23 long years. Feels pretty good, Sid. It appeared to us in the class area of the entire multitude with standing. I've never seen the crowds so happy about anyone. Andy, was this year's 500 ideal as far as racing conditions were concerned? No, Sid. We had high temperatures, and of course the motors were running exceptionally hot, but the total superchargers. You feel the STP RL treatment was helpful in cooling myos in? Absolutely. The one reason Mario was able to run through the core quite a long time ago is I always say because he did have STP RL treatment. I made 30 at that in an half percent of the amount. I'm already ready to add in the STP RL treatment special course to finish line first. But the margin of almost three laps over the entire field. Now, more than ever, STP is the racer's edge. I'm substantive of the Santa Coofax back at the Kennedy Memorial Stadium and Erie Banks. This is White from Daughter, which are the dogs. Oh, his Mrs. and Eve Hanks and her daughter, Jan. Janie, you enjoying the ball game?

No. You're not. Are you enjoying the snow cone? Wait, something, honey. Say hello to all your friends. You're enjoying the ball game of course with his back. After the V, you're really. Thanks for visiting with it. Yes, I love it. Wow, Mr. Stemsky, you made a great test. He's up to bat for the first time and takes low from food in ball one. Mr. Stemsky, I've only got a little batting time until he's last two years. He's going to be a hard person, and it's like that with us. He's going to be 56, but 29 on run, 70 RDIs. That's ended better. Swings and misses, and strike one, and of course, yes, as expected, not hitting too well against left hand. He won the MVP award over 40 to Tom Brown for against fighting. It's only a couple against left hand. I'm inside, you and one. I'm the three-discordant, National League. Go to you, Mr. Stemsky, all of my Paul Blair and Luke Powell.

I have a big six run deficit for the American League. I'm the son, beginning to come out. Do one ditch and startle back. Do two. Brown and Gibson, singer, now for the front column standing to be the winner. Startle my, but I can make both of my autumn, noles, McLean, McNally and McDowell. Startle my, standing to be the winner. 45,259 looking on. Who's been thrones and you're Stemsky golfing this one high and some left-sealer. Pete Rose was come in and is over near the line and takes it in their territory. Rose replaced Leon Jones right part of it. And here's Paul Blair. And you know what's happening? Everybody will go, the players just front of someone. Of course, for Samford home, the National League is going to be happy. The National League fans will not be happy, but how do you think the American League's front office must feel that they're going to lose 11 out of last 12?

There's a curve from Kuzman, it's like one to Blair. It is no longer funny. Before 1949, the National League wanted this called off because the American League had a 12-4-ish. Outside and high, it's one and one out of Blair, but since 1949, 17-5, the National League. Jim used to say that the players treated this as an exhibition game, but I think what you're talking about is exactly what's happened. It's no longer so as League cried. So I have to left the old, not into all those comes over and Charlie Hustle makes the ramp with one hand. Having difficulty with the footing and the ball dying in the heavy air. Jim definitely rose as he started, slipped his back foot and went out for a run-room. And he always went to his knees, but he managed to get started again and get there just in time to catch the ball. He's out there now, patching up the side. Now let's see what Red Chain needs. It's going to say as he walks out to Billy Hustle, this will maybe be all true. And Jerry gave up a lead off double, but since retired, five men in a row. But then again, Chain needs to start up with Kuzman as he's bringing in another pitcher.

And it simply forced to get more feet for a chance to get in the ball again. It's 9-3. With Gugthow, out Kuzman, of course, is a left-handed. And in any other ball game in the year, you would say, well, leave the left-handed end of pitch. The left-handed is first when he retired, five in a row. But then again, you've got to realize that there's some top pitchers here in Larry Junker, who has had a great year for the Astros. He's going to get his hands coming in throw. Gurgthow is 12-7.5-4. Who is one of pitchers? On ending in two-thirds and gave up just one hand, lead to August. Here I was a little worried that possibly Kuzman might have heard himself. Two-player, he threw nothing but changeups, spoke their ball and a couple of changeups. But I think that's the way he was trying to pitch the player because the right came out. He was spiraling out there. Well, that's not a man who saw it on what he's spiraling. I think it's just Red's way of trying to get more guys into the ball game. He couldn't use them early. You don't know what's going to happen. Now we're into the eighth inning, so he can go ahead and start to use more pitchers and give them a chance.

He's got to keep the pace warm though. Gurgthow becomes a fifth pitcher. And a word about a penalty eleven. A penalty eleven is now past the halfway point and it's returned from the moon and everything is still going beautifully. The only hitch in President Nixon's plans to go out to meet him is the fact that he was unable to see last night's all-star game because of the rain. He left and will be on the carrier hornet. And we all know that when Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins returned to Earth, it is going to be quite some celebration and quite an emotional experience. And who will ever forget? And it's your 1969, not only the 100th anniversary of baseball, but more importantly for the world and all mankind. The feats of these three men when they set foot on the moon. Gurgthow will two out and the last to the eighth, the base ducker. Jackson has joined in the ballfim. Grant from the Coliseum, left-handed, and a stroying, John Necro, the knuckleballer from the planet.

But there are two out and it's nine to three, the national eight. And ducker on the mountain he throws and how will it falls it over our heads upstairs? Jim Dirkers is another one of these very young pitchers in the national eight. And they're squad is probably the youngest pitcher staff I've ever seen at an all-star game. They're another one that throws very hard. And these fellows have developed into pitchers at a young age. Well, they still got the good fastball. Sometimes it takes a long time. It's going to miss five fouls. Of course, Luke got the big break when Kusman, when retired five and a row on a left-handed one out and ducker, was yet to throw and a right-handed came in the face-proofs who is left-handed. I've been five on runs. I reckon for all star play is six. Well, whatever, I think we're going to have 66, but that's cooled off. All in two foul, watch this one just off the corner. One and two. Jim, you can tell when the pitch is close, all the infielers start to move.

For us, it started to come in to take the throw from unlabeled, but it just missed. One and two to count. There's an off-speed pitch changed and it's outside two, too. It went him off his hand. There's a simple change up here through this, and here, what was he throwing? Jim, I think possibly Paul Richards, who was with the used to the Astros for a few years, is a great believer in the palm ball. That's what it was, I think. This one has fouled over to Weaver, who muffs it. He may be fine. The Baltimore Orioles have a system of fines for anything and everything, and they're dug out to keep them loose. And of course, the Orioles now lead in the Eastern Vision immediately by 11 games, and I'm sure those who are watching or listening will go back and they'll post a fine for Weaver for muffing a foul ball in the Orioles starting. Two to pitch. Long drive, overcomes the many, and has it, claps it, hits the table, and it has a safe hit for foul. Jim, there's another one where the outfield had a great effect on the outfielders.

Clemente started to come in on that ball and slip and went to his knees, and he trapped it on his knees. He never got up again. The ball was hit very hard, but Roberto might have had a chance on a drive field. Here's Reggie Smith, up for the second time. He ran about him to sixth inning. One in as a pinch runner for Frank Howard, on a perfect day, a home run, and a walk and scored twice. Inside to Smith, the switcher who is batting left handed. Want to know it? Nine runs 11 hits, no errors for the national league, three runs, six hits, two errors for the American. We are in the last of the eighth inning, and they're two now, with foul at first, with his first base hit, one for four on the day. Colp continues to throw for the American league. It's straight up in the out of change pitch. The rest comes in, near the foul on, and has it for the third out. No wrongs wanting it, no errors in one left. Now I'm running out for the American league at the end of eighth. It's nine to three, there actually is.

Clemente just reduced the manufacturer's suggested retail price of the standard valiant D102 door sedan by $193, making it an even greater value than ever. Designed, built, and engineered as an economy car, valiant still remembers just why you buy a compact. This year, valiant features a 50-rugged 170 cubic engine, room enough for six adult passengers, torsion bar suspension, a seven-step dip in spray antirust treatment, and more. So, that reducing the manufacturer's suggested retail price, including federal excise tax, excluding state and local taxes, optional equipment, destination, and deal of preparation charges, valiant has added economy to economy. Dollar for dollar, the competition gets left behind, and valiant becomes more unbeatable than ever. See your local climate deal today, check out his value, then check out that new reduced price. Clement makes the economy cars the way they're meant to be made. Jim Simpson, Los Angeles, had Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium in Washington,

the 40-ventilow star game has been going over the last inning. What do you think? That the sun comes out. After a day and a half of rain, the sun comes out here and rather you with a muggy washroom. The ninth inning, rational league, bottom front, minus four of nine to three, the repeat of in five home runs, two by William McCutney, one by Johnny Bench, and Bench was robbed of another on the outstanding defensive play of the game by Cargis Dempsky, who leaped and reached over the pencil left field. The American league has had two home runs, one by Frank Cowan of Washington, the other by Ketscher Bill Free and of Detroit, and it's nine to three. After those nine runs, the match of league has two of those and Bench on earth. Now, Ray Culp, is the new pitcher. Culp, off the lost red socks, is 14 and six on the year with a 3.1 old earned run average. And the first man he will face will be Tony Ferret, as we pause 30 seconds for a station identification.

This is the place for Big Wilson, weekdays nine to noon, WNBC, radio 660 and WNBC FM, New York. Tony Ferret takes strike one from Ray Culp. Ferret's obsessed not eating a 3.35, 22 homers and 70 RBI. The first time at bat in the soft dark end, Culp throws again and Ferret's fouls it upstairs to the right. And it is strike two. There's no ball in strike count on either scoreboard here in Washington. Now it's just 10 strikes out in right field. But I believe it is 1 and 2. Rarity is not given the sign behind the plate. It makes it 2-2 by my count.

Now they have ball 1 and 10 strikes. Ferret's the matter. Nicky Lollich is warming up now for the American League. Swinging the miss, and that is all for Ferret. Culp has his first strike out and the fouls strike out. And on the last seven batters, 4 and half strike out. All right, let's strike out. Here's Rose. Culp for the first time. Now we got Lee May, Tony Ferret's and Pete Rose in the batting order. He's made some sense about it. May completed the last inning. Ferret starts out this. Rose takes the lower. It's ball two. That's not any of the big race in the Western vision of the racially. Only 3 and a half games out, but they are in fourth place.

Get high in the air and playable. Ferret's Robinson comes off third base in the fouls territory, caching it in the wind for a couple of steps and half it for the second out. Randy Hundley. For the first time, Ben shed a whole line in the second. He singled and scored in the third. He walked in the fourth and then he's been caught in the sixth and that late catch. Randy Hundley has cockled cuts up for the first time. All it's just throwing for the American League and now Juan Marichelle is joined Bill Negro to throw for the national. Hundley swings in Mr. Strike Law. I just noticed that Negro sat down and Seever, the Metz Tom Seever has gotten up. So I guess some of the pitches who aren't going to get in the ballgame are trying to get their work in any how in the bullpen here in watching. Like two swinging by Randy Hundley, San and I were Montreal and Saturday in Watch Tom Seever. The chance to score the Metz even a loss column with the cuts get knocked out of for a couple of endings of play.

Apprised everybody and maybe even the X-Bulls. Hundley strikes out and Colp strikes out two and a three. No answer, it's no answer. I'm left in the road and I actually can now go down. But they lead at the end of eight and a half, nine to three. Orange and it go back to the students. I would at least say this could be it. The last of the night. What in the American League? Orange and up Roy White. Jim and Gosey. And John Rose were all of the children. But in any case, they dropped the hip from one of all. So Nick Lovett was coming in. Very definitely Jim. And Nick Rose best bet is still enough of all. He'll drill a fast ball with slider occasionally. Occasionally if he has to. But predominantly it's going to be enough of all of the American League that have to hit here. And looking down at the National League, Colp had a comforting sight from manager to notice. He got one die shot and John Seever running up. Roy White getting 313 in the Yankees. Four home runs, 46 RBI's.

Go back. Four. Gosey is on deck. And the score is nine to three. And the American League is running out of time. Nearly out of time. Three outs away from going down to the seventh consecutive defeat. It was the 11th of the last 12th. And the National League would lead overall 22 games to 17. More importantly, it's 1949. It would be 18 out of 23 victories for the National League. I'm least got that big, big glove, almost like a first baseman's glove on. And he can reflect on anything. He's even looking at the second out saying that he's jumping behind. Replay. White steps in. May have since that he had first. Back at the Chicago Second. Minky had used him at short. For Reds of Cincinnati at third. Rose of Cincinnati in red. Allewa's got all the way in center from the Pirates and Plumetti as a place to Aaron in right.

Randy Huntley the catcher is ball one. And Nick Rowe the pitcher. He is the sixth National League pitcher. This one gets away from Randy. I'm trying to think. I don't think they have any at all. The only thing I've ever heard any catcher say about the number ball. John Rose was struck out against the number ball one day. Came back and said how do you expect it to hit it if I can't even catch it? I just like to swinging. By Rowe White, they say he caught a tip of it. Sound different. Almond Darts, the manager's Cleveland has been coaching at third base. So we've had the manager's Baltimore in first base. Ed Williams is an honorary coach here. One of the American League, Gil Hart is the best. An honorary coach for the National League. Nine to three, one, two, the count to white is choked up on the bat a little bit. And it's two two. This one stays outside.

The National League got off the parade jump. Anon ran in the first inning. And the two are number by bench in the second. They were all free to nothing and they haven't been challenged really since. This one has found over our heads. It's still two two. Five hormones in this game, two by William McCutley, one by Johnny Bench, who could have had two or not for a great play by Carl Dierstemsky. But an American League, Mike Howard and Bill Free added it on. Adam stands to be the winner. Startle my other supply started the loser. Two two pitch, and he's struck it out and Huntley held on to the ball. I think that was the easiest pitch Huntley had to catch there. After throwing him four or five knockables in a row, Niko just suddenly came with the fastball and had white pooled. I think, hardly wanted to make sure he got one to it. He followed fastball. Then for Gosey, we'll bat and Sandy, we are going to have all star history. Carlos May is on deck. His brother is at first base. It'll be the first time brothers have been on opposing spots laying against each other in an all star game.

Hi from Niko, the first go see up for the first time after replacing Pepper Selling. Pepper Selling was born for three at double in his last time at bat. Niko right back, this is inside, it's 2-0. Then for Gosey has been a starting all star shortstop from occasions. From the California Angels, 2-0, then upstairs to the right. Gosey this year hitting 278 home runs, 25 RBI. Now the national league is just too off-sawing. And then the chess will be pressed out a little bit further out of the magic as they will have won their sixth of the row, or the last 12th. Down goal and equal flex off the mound, fixed it up with a fair hand turns and throws on

to Lee May's line play and 2-0. And here comes Carlos May, the boy who has put excitement back in white so it's fucking Chicago hitting a 278 home runs, 57 RBI. Strong as a ball, I'll rip down it here. And they just fly, but pull that ball down for a close base where his brother Lee may have since about his weighty. One other way from another, a nationally victory. And the American league collectively will have to say, wait, it'll next year. Six runs down, nine to three to score. And this ball was five, May before he swung in this straight line. May have strength to all feet. Will hit the left as well as pull it to right. And swings again, and misses again, and it's straight to. I'm sure his brother Lee is standing down at first base with a comfortable six run lead. He's watching with it. And the fans for the first time today begin to stir and make toward the exits figuring that they've wrapped it up.

But this one is low, it's one and two. Merced Robinson on deck, long way to go. Six run, just. And May strikes off the end of a 40th annual fall star game. Take roll, get some graduation from his teammates. But of course it'll be Mr. Calder gets the win, starting right about seven in a row. More than a nationally, the nationally nine runs 11-It's goals. The American league three runs, six hits and three air. We'll be back with highlights of today's game right after this vessel. The nationally is won this game nine to three, and we'll repeat those statistics one more time. It is now 22 and 17. The nationally famous for this 40th annual old star game. It is also a fact that they have now won 18 and lost five since 1949. They won 11 of the last 12 and the last seven in a row.

As good as Steve Calder was, and he was good enough to win this ball game. He gave up two of the three runs, the American league managed. Both of them were long balls hit by Frank Card and Bill Friamp for all star game home runs. But Mel Staddlemar, who started was the victim of an air in an honor run in the first inning. Johnny Bench had a two on Homer in the second inning. Staddlemar goes down as the loser, but Woody McCubby was the star, along with Bench, as far as hitting his concerns, in that bench at a perfect day before Yostremsky robbed him with a great catch in the sixth. That should go down as defensive play of the game. Bench had a home run and a single drove in a couple of runs and scored one himself. Willie McCubby of course had backed back home runs in the third and fourth inning. Son by the loser, Tom and the winner, and some comments from a former all star himself from Santa Colte back in a moment. As we'll be back with the final summary of today's action in just a minute. Now Sandy, the national league got five runs and a big third inning,

but from the opening ditch almost, the outcome was guess the end of it. The game looked like we were going to have a very high scoring ball game today. We did have quite a few runs and more than we've had in the past few years. But when you talk about this ball game, it always looks like it's going to be a pitcher's ball game. And for the last five innings, it was definitely that. You have so many pitchers coming in, surely that somebody's going to have a bad day. And we had one or two pitchers who didn't quite have their control or their stuff today. A lot of runs were scored early, but from there on in, from the top of the fifth or the top of the fourth, the pitchers took over the ball game, which is bound to happen. I feel of course the starting lineups came out that didn't hurt any either, but everybody on this team is an all star. And I have discovered in the last three years that it's just as much fun, almost to watch it as it is to play in it. Well, Sandy, thank you very much. And of course, this is just the midseason highlight for baseball, the 100th annual year for Major League Baseball.

Again, at the St. St. St. Harry Red Stockings back in 1869, just the midseason highlight. I know that the American League would like to win one, but they can wait till next year. Right now, it's back to the business of hand. Everybody begins to play against them all in the American League. Baltimore leads the Eastern Division by 11 games in the West. Minnesota over opened by four in the National League of the Cups are in front of the mids by four and a half, and the two games up in the lost column and in the Western Division of the National League, Atlanta over lost answers and Francisco by a game since the 90 by 3 1,5 and Houston is only seven out. So lots of baseball left and we look now to the tentative races, the Division of playoffs and the World Series. And remember here for a complete coverage of Major League Baseball and B.C. I'm producing today was Len Delan, our engineer from WRC in Washington, Dave Dullard. This broadcast has been authorized under broadcast rights granted by the Commissioner Baseball. Insurance by the heart, we try to keep things simple. The new adjustable Gillette Tech-Matic Racer, the almost perfect racer, made perfect. And by Philip 66, where it's performance that counts. And now from Washington, Jim Simpson, from SanicoFax, the final score again in the 40th All-Star game, the National League 9, the American League 3. This has been an NBC Radio Network production.
