On today's Wade Keller Pro Wrestling podcast, we jump back 15 years to a flagship episode from September 20th, 2011. We're Jason Powell from Pro Wrestling.net joined me and we talked about the fallout from night of champions including the announcement of two Hell in a Cell paper be made events. We talked about ROH's new TV show and potential growth, Sting versus Rick Flair, Matt Hardy's latest headlines that he was making, also John Cena's Tata win, Mark Henry's Tata win and more. So let's get to it this originally live streamed on October 1st, 2011. It is today's 15 years ago flagship flashback.

Welcome to the PW Torch live cast. It is Tuesday, September 20th, 2011. I am Wade Keller, Editor and Publisher of the Pro Wrestling Torch newsletters since 1987 and PW Torch.com since 1999. And as usual on Tuesdays, I am joined by Jason Powell of the website pro wrestling.net. Jason, how's it going? It's going good whether it's just never at dull moment these days. Oh, there isn't. A lot of news coming out of Raw on Monday last night. And really, I mean when you look at the schedule, they have three pay per views in a five week stretch. And then we move right into from there a month of promotion of the ROC returning to the ring, teaming with John Cena. Based Jason on everything that happened in the last 48 hours or so, what do you think the John Cena ROC match is going to be at Survivor Series? I think it's going to be just guessing. ROC and Cena teaming together,

McFouley part of the team perhaps if he can receive medical clearance or if he needs it in a part time legends type role. A couple of other guys obviously not sure who. And I think they're going to be facing the NWO. I really feel like we're on the verge of seeing something like that. Whether they call it the NWO or get to fresh name, something involving Kevin Nash, our truth, the Miz, perhaps big show. And I'm not sure who the other player would be just yet, I guess, people will, I'm sure mentioned Keynes name just because he's out. I don't see him as a good fit. Could be someone from the outside that we're not thinking over right now. Those are let's be clear. It won't be Scott Hall or Sean Walton. Yeah, I'd be very surprised if it were if it were Sean Walton. He's been very public with the fact that he has hepatitis and you know, so I can't see him receiving medical clearance. And Scott Hall has a heart condition and I'm among other issues and so I don't think it'll be him either. So I don't know who else it would be, but I really am starting to get that feeling that we're on the verge of seeing the NWO return in some form or fashion.

Yep, yep. I'm intrigued to see where we end up when it comes to that, but I agree with you in the broad strokes and it will be intriguing to see where big show lands when he returns. I assume he'll be wrestling a survivor series. He certainly will be ready. Yeah, Mick Foley would be an interesting twist in that mix. I don't every time I hear the words the letters NWO with, you know, I just cringe. I just, you know, I mean, it's same thing with four horsemen. I mean, there just comes a point to retire the gimmick and create something new. And you know, I mean, if T and A had the rights to the NWO, we would have never had a main event mafia. They would have called them the NWO. You know, we would have never had Fortune 4. They would have been the four horsemen if they could. You know, I mean, it's just at some point they got to create their own future as happened when the four horsemen were created. That wasn't based on some incarnation from the 1970s or 60s. That was a new thing. When the NWO was created, that wasn't based on some NWO group in the 80s or 70s. It was something new and it sparked business. So whatever happens, and I do think Nash,

Miz and Truth all being fired leads to a pretty logical conclusion, you know, a pretty good guess that they'll be teaming together. I hope that we stay away from ever having to talk about the NWO again, just because Kevin Nash is part of it. I don't know, but they, you know, I mean, they own the rights of the name and Kevin Nash was, you know, maybe the leader of the NWO, unless Hulk Hogan becomes available in time for Survivor Series, it's not going to feel like the NWO without Scott Hall. And I don't think people look at Big Show and think NWO anymore. Wait, my weird conspiracy theory. I want to run it by you. Any chance that... Yes. Yeah, John Cena slides into the Hulk Hogan role. He turns on rock and then the WWE team at Survivor Series, and then he set up as a heel going into WrestleMania. I just talked about that on my Keller Hotline last night after rock. That was my final comment. So we're on the same page, thinking the same thing. In fact, I just wrote up this week's Torch Newsletter cover story and in through that possibility out there also. So I think the fact that you and I

are kind of thinking the same thing. It's not that we're hearing that's going to happen. But I think, you know, you look at how the cards are laid out and you look at who's pulling the strengths, who is more powerful. What's going on here? I haven't been able to wrap my brain around whether it would make sense in retrospect. Looking back, that Cena was behind a lot of this all along. We would need to kind of deconstruct where things went from the C-On punk thing going forward. But it isn't a intriguing scenario. You know, we always, you know, people said, one of the things I'm going to turn Cena heel. Well, there's a pretty big backlash right now, but there has been dating back to when he first got his big push. So what would cause WWE to give up on the younger fans? Who, by the way, are band-in in the product anyway? I mean, the 12 to 17-year-olds are almost half of them from a year ago are gone on Monday night. So it's not like, you know, if they lost Cena, they lose all their team viewers. I think the argument is to be made that the Cena fans five years ago who are 12 are 17 now and they don't want to watch Cena anymore. The Cena fans who were 10-5 years ago are 15 now. They don't want to cheer John Cena.

They're at a new point in their life and I think what would bring them back is similar to what brought fans back with the NWO, whole Cogan going heel. The guy that they grew up with turned heel and then they'd have a new hero see-em punk to battle him and it would make a lot of things make sense. It'd be a gutsy risky move, you know, because, but 2.7 rating for RAW, you know, being between 2.5 and 2.8, which might be the regular place they are, it might make some sense, Jason. Was this a move you would endorse or is it just something you throw on out that you fear they're going to do it? Throwing out is a possibility. I mean, it's obviously just pros and cons to this. They don't have that ready-made guy just to step in there and fill scene issues in terms of reaching that audience that he supports to. Punk, I think, reaches out to a different audience and I think they're trying to set that up now so that he has a little bit more of a broad appeal by having seen him endorse him the way he has. But I think they do need a radical shakeup and I think they need to take some chances and, you know, if you don't have that next baby face waiting in the wings, well maybe it creates an opportunity for people to step

up and I don't know that they're going to find that next John Cena either way, but I think they have to ask themselves, you know, are they really going to lose viewers who, if they turn Cena, I think they gain viewers. I think they gain interest. Maybe merchandise sales suffer. I don't know, but hell, it's not like they bring back some version of the NWO, whether they call it that or something different. There's merchandise opportunities right there. The NWO was a very popular t-shirt back in the day so they might be able to make some of that up there. I think, you know, I look forward to a radical shift like that just to see how it would play out. As far as Cena's motivation, you know, he can easily point to the way the crowd treated him when part-time Iraq came back, the way the crowd treated him, when CM Punk played his games and people sided with, you know, he can easily turn around and call this guy, Slees Bag, it was out for himself and everybody just bought in. I know there's plenty of motivation for his character to turn. I agree. You know, we hear the merchandise argument a lot and I mean, I don't think it's something that you just dismiss entirely when looking at the situation. Yeah, but part of me just

thinks, you know what, merchandise is going to sell when your product is hot. Just do whatever you need to do to make your product as hot as it can be. And obviously that doesn't mean hot shouting with no eye on the future. You want to paint yourself. You want to pick the right time to do big angles and big turns. But I don't think you go, well, we can't give up on that merchandise to Cena. So let's continue to push up an act that maybe's grown-stale is turning off fans and people aren't even going to the arenas and buying merchandise anymore. Those who are going to the building are buying Cena merchandise, but fewer people are going to the buildings and fewer people are watching TV and fewer people are watching pay-per-view. And I wonder too if they're not accentuating how many title Cena has won almost as a way to let viewers know, yeah, he's been around a long time. You know, it might be time, you know, have we had enough of Cena and they're bringing up, you know, the 10 title reigns is a way to kind of plant that seed for fans. I think it's intriguing. I think going into WrestleMania, having Cena as a heal against Rock, I think would make more sense than doing another fans get to choose situation. And I think it also

sets up a feel-good finish of rock beating Cena at WrestleMania without WWE fearing that it says, you know, yesterday stars bigger than today's top baby face. You know, you can do it in a way where the fan state creates that affection in it. And the building just explodes then in Miami for the rock as opposed to, you know, that, you know, people talk about we don't want to embarrass John Cena by having him get boot against Rock. Well, that's his gimmick all along. What would be embarrassing is for the rock to get a mixed reaction in his hometown against John Cena because John Cena managed to one up him. Just enough in promos that the Cena fans said, yeah, he's our guy, I'm cheering him. And, you know, those high-pitched voices could be pretty pronounced. So it's an intriguing scenario. I think they'll make the most money turning Cena. And I think doing it at Survivor Series is probably the way to do it. But like you said at the very beginning, Jason, it's not cut and dry. There are pros and cons. Both sides of the scale are weighing things down and you can choose one argument or the other and sound rational. But in the end, you look at the

bigger picture and go, maybe it just shakes things up for the sake of shaking things up and pull the trigger now when you know it will mean something. Because if you wait too long to turn Cena, if you wait another two years, maybe it doesn't mean anything anymore because you've lost so many viewers and people are so tired of Cena, they don't care about him either way. Yeah, I mean, they kind of did that with Hulk Dogan. I mean, granted he still had a successful turn in WCW, of course. But they missed out on it because they just kept Hogan, Babyface, and stuck with the same act. They were so afraid to shy away from that formula. I think they could have pulled the trigger on that. And I hope they do it with Cena. I mean, as a viewer, I certainly hope they do. I'm 100% behind it. But as the question you always ask, if it's your money, do you do it? And I, you know, it's not 100% yes, but I lean that way right now. Yep. When my mom got sick, she felt powerless. Insurance denied her meds. Let's begin with area code 610 on deck is 202. 610 thanks for holding, please say a name and where you're from. Hey Kevin from Philly. Hey Kevin, what's going on? That's too much. I just have a quick question, getting it straight to the point here. When guys like Triple H, Hogan, Flair, when they hit the double digit section or double digit title reign, they had made at least two to three main eventers in their wake. I just want to know, you know, I want you guys to answer how many do you think, if any, has John Cena made? How many main event stars or stars in general has John Cena made? I'm trying to figure out what the

criteria for making a star is because I'm not sure it's fully John Cena. Yeah, I'll give you you know, Hogan, let's undertaker go over clean at I guess summer's land 91. I mean, you know, Triple H and Randy Orton, Triple H and Batista, Rick Flair, you know, I can't even say how many guys he brought to the main event level that after battling Flair, they look like stars. Yeah, and you know, the same goes for Hogan. I mean Hogan and Warrior, Hogan put him over clean. Just, you know, how many guys have Cena put over clean and made look like bigger and better stars after having fought Cena. Jason, do you want to tackle this? I mean, WWE's failed to create a creating a star. I think you can take him one step further too and say, who has seen it endorsed that has gone on to become a star because Hogan, although he didn't really have that, you know, definitive lost Randy Savage that I can point to, he certainly endorsed him and that helped out,

you know, it helped fans not have to choose. It was okay to cheer Randy Savage with Hogan's blessing. And Cena, I mean, he does that a little bit here and there with certain guys that he's feuded with. He's doing it a little bit right now at CM Punk, but really, I mean, it hasn't mattered all that much. So I don't necessarily blame Cena for it, but it's more of a product of WWE, the creative end of things as well as just their inability to create new stars and they don't use Cena. They don't put him in positions to really make other people shine. It's generally all about Cena. And also, I think it's fair to say when it comes to Cena and this isn't, this isn't to exonerate Cena, it's just to explain the circumstances of his title reign and how it might be different than the others you bring up, Kevin. John Cena fought Triple H and Randy Orton over and over and over and over and over and over and over again and various incarnations. And I did a cover story in the newsletter a couple years ago just doing the statistical breakdown of how many main events included those three and it was just in a stounding number and I think

they made that went on too long. Also, John Cena feuded with JBL and he feuded with some older wrestlers who were trying to elevate him. Because remember, John Cena became champion before people believed in him, before people thought that he had, that he was clearly the established top star. The examples you give of Hogan and of Flair, they made stars but they were cemented at that time as the top tier act. So I think you would look at the last couple years when they started moving away from Orton and Triple H. For evidence, then I would say you could look at Miz as coming out of the Cena situation, potentially seen as a bigger star and Rock was in that mix, did Cena put him over and then step aside? No, not really but I think Miz has been elevated with some success in the last year and our truth even this summer came out of the situation a little bit better I would say, seen as a bigger star and then see him punk. So I think the circumstances are different enough, it's not a cut and dry situation where you can say Cena hasn't done his

job so much of it is who have they presented him to fight and it's established people like Orton, Batista and Triple H. Kevin any follow up from you? Nope, nope that's it, thanks guys. Yeah, appreciate it. Thanks. I mean it's an interesting question and an interesting scenario you know is if they keep Cena as a baby face at some point you know yeah seen as job should be to create new stars and it's not his job should be to draw money but part of that the side effect should be facing younger guys and having them look stronger and better afterwards and I would say Jason looking at the lineup of opponents or even potential opponents that have been there for Cena. I don't think we've looked at Cena as hogging the ball and stopping somebody else from being a breakout star that said you'd sometimes you don't know until it happens you know you you don't know that maybe some guy would have been a big star had they just booked him against Cena and even Steven Wayne giving him a big win. Yeah I mean there's certainly baby face in fact Sunday I thought was a

poor use of Cena maybe it is like you say they're trying to get people tired of his act a little bit by having him win the title again but Elbrado Del Rio is a guy that I thought they should have built up as more of a a tough heel rather than just the chicken heel and they were going in that direction and they didn't and we've seen that with a lot of guys that Cena's worked with where you know he traditionally works mostly with heels unless it's WrestleMania because they have they failed to get heels over to the point that they matter at WrestleMania but you know so it wasn't that there are situations where I feel like they could have booked matches differently but I can't point to Cena and say he used to blame for it as much as creative. Yeah I agree with that. All right let's keep rolling through calls and number is 6467219828 up next is 202 thanks for calling please state your name and where you're from. Hi Anthony Washington DC. Hey Anthony what's on your mind today. A few things wow they ended up last man on row I mean wow I mean they

they even had my head like spending like all day you know saying about how this thing is pulled in up when I think this really seriously regretting you know not going through with this storyline with seeing punk you know being actually fired and stuff and bringing them back to some of I think they regretting now they playing catch up stuff but the scenario that y'all brought up early it may be kind of when I ask another question though you said that it might be some outsiders that might be involved in this so-called new fashion of the NWO it could it be somebody like R.R.H. or something like that that can join it you know cuz you know there's the impact that matches some folks you know and previous you know count it so could it be for my like that but why would WWE do that Anthony I mean probably fewer than 1% of WWE viewers have any idea who anybody in R.R.O.A.J. is and if they thought they had that kind of potential they would have probably hired them and put them in developmental by now so I don't think being attached to R.R.O.A.J. and having a history with CM Punk means more than like maybe $24 grand total in WWE was annual revenue

you pick the right guys and on the USA Network platform in front of 6 million people you turn them into a star the head start they have out of the gate because of some backstory with CM Punk just doesn't mean anything other than to maybe people who listen to the show or you know what who who are aware of and follow to some level R.R.O.H. that's not to say they won't pick Kavanaugh or Claudio Costignoli or somebody like that but it should be it I don't think it should have anything to do with whether they own R.R.O.H. or not I just think the the gap is way too great between the popularity of the two groups to base any storyline that WWE does around that I don't think they should any more than they should base the storyline around my relationship with my neighbor I just don't think enough people care or know about it for it to dictate the direction of their storyline Jason and I down playing R.R.O.H. too much or do you kind of agree with that? I totally agree I think at one time there was consideration there were certainly rumblings of it happening within wrestling not just online stuff that CM Punk was going to stay heel and the kings of wrestling would be brought in and aligned with him and I never suspected that it was going

to be they were going to acknowledge the R.R.O.H. history with more than maybe a quick nod for punk and a promo or something I thought they would use punk to endorse those guys to help get them over I think somewhere along the way the decision was made to keep punk or turn him baby face nothing stopping them from going back on that and you know turning him heel now but I really looks to me like something changed and I mean I mean you yeah you could add those guys to a fact you know with a quality or an increased hero to a faction like that if you wanted to quality already in developmental Chris Hero a by all accounts is soon to follow but I fear if you do that with the big names that are you know already missed truth Kevin Nash and presumably one other bigger name then who's going to be the whipping voice those two and I mean that's just that tends to be the way it works and so I kind of fear that that would not be the right move for them I'd rather see them introduced as you know I'll hopefully a tag team but as an individual as just an individual

act away from something like that and see that I know you've got more to talk about so you can follow up on that or or go on to another point and look at Anthony look to Gunner look to Gunner in a mortal to see an example of how somebody with a lot of potential it is just kind of lost in the shuffle because there's too many bigger names are more recognizable names in that faction yeah good right yeah that's that's a your point but yeah I'll see you at first call this point about how John Cena like was not able to make you know not be camera or rainmaker make stars out of people whatever and stuff could Mark Henry be like the reverse of that being such a great heel as he's becoming right now could he like make a baby face being in the situation right now yeah I do I was sitting here while we were talking going I want to talk about Mark Henry too you know I mean on this I just think Mark Henry the last 48 hours and even the last complete on Smackdown has become a bigger story than I thought Mark Henry had a chance to become and I just loved what they've done with him I mean whether it works or not I don't know but it is absolutely the right

approach to take with the heel and I think they are setting things up where I could imagine an up and coming baby face beating Mark Henry after a rain of after a a rain of destruction for six months or 18 months I mean a word or two months unfortunately might be what we're talking about the young baby face who beats Mark Henry could become a star by virtue of beating Mark Henry I think it should I think booking should be set up in a way where when your top star loses whoever beats him becomes a star and if you can't look at your booking if you can't look at your your the lay of the land and say we could pick almost anybody from the mid-carter higher and if they beat John Cena or Randy Orton or Mark Henry or Alberto Del Rio for that matter a win against them should be a star making win that you talk about he you brought up Gunner Jason you know Gunner got two big wins in a row two weeks in a row against staying and was it Anderson who well probably was Anderson I remember really Anderson is table and he got like yeah I mean he got these two big wins and you're like okay TNA paid lip service to that being a big deal but two weeks

later it was forgotten and so you don't waste wins you don't waste those opportunities if your top star loses it has to be the biggest story for the next three weeks and you have to be willing to have you have to be able to have an attention span that lasts long enough to really drive home that that was a big deal that match matter that outcome matter and what will this star become next we see that story in UFC all the time you know when there's a big upset any young guy takes over it means something and and and and it has ramifications and that's why people care about who wins and loses real fight so yeah I think Mark Henry could absolutely be that person the way that they're pushing it right now. Chris Short and I spent a lot of time talking about this and the the members audio review of night of champions we both love to see them show the discipline the patience to keep that title on Mark Henry keep him looking dominant and tell WrestleMania keep Daniel Bryan looking a little bit soft set up David versus Goliath and you make a star Daniel Bryan when he catches in that money in the bank briefcase in Mania. Yep that that could work.

I ain't saying anything else. Nope that was it thank you. Great appreciate it thanks good good topics. All right so up next is 931 and then on deck is 714 we've scared off two or three callers who are on hold so feel free to give us a call here you can be six thin line right now at 646 721 928 we just scared off someone else what's going on Jason. We're down to four callers. Just being scared in people. Yeah if WWE did bring back the NWO would it finally scare T&A away from using that horrible knockoff version of the NWO music for a mortal. No yeah I don't think I mean they're playing the NWA or NWO theme with Kevin Nash and it hasn't stopped T&A so probably not. Yeah yeah all right well we got a few more people who just called up immediately once I said a few lines cleared so thank you everybody so anyway 931 up next and then 714 on deck 931 things are calling please state your name and where you're from. Hey it's the infantimacy. How did I know that? Well I guess my question was I was reading the quick news on the torch and I saw

where Sina addressed something about Zack Ryder on Twitter. Do you know what the context that was? Well I think he took some heat on Twitter from fans saying you know we're tired of your act and then he said and then he decided to parlay that into a fun little Twitter thing where he tries to give a boost to Zack Ryder's Twitter followers by saying that's the way you can show that you're upset with me instead of just whining about it in messaging me prove it by you know doubling Zack Ryder's Twitter number Jason am I missing anything on that story because I just saw what James Paul will post it at the torch. No I think you guys will go to a lot closer to that. Okay so yeah I mean you know when I read it the first time I just thought you know this kind of backs up the heel turns speculation that Jason you and I are both thinking about since raw last night the you know he was talking about how this is a critical time and I don't know what came across like yeah you know injecting Zack Ryder into it but he's testing the waters and conveying the idea that he's getting kind of sick of people not accepting that he wins matches I mean to me

you know that the response that a wrestler should have on TV or on Twitter is I will no longer be the world champion when somebody can beat me you know it has it shouldn't have anything to do with fan response because you're in character I mean if you want to sit and talk about the business then have a completely separate discussion about the business but don't make storyline in on it but anytime you're talking anything you're doing to forward storylines John Cena's response to any haters any quitters any a winers who want him to move down his answer is when someone beats me they'll be on top they'll be they'll be in the main event but I want and that should be of line I mean staying characters keep keep with the consistent narrative when my mom got sick she felt powerless insurance denied her meds her doctors talked over her and they couldn't agree on anything she kept getting worse and then you found solace for me they gave me my own healthcare advocate my advocate found better doctors scheduled my appointments and got my medications for the first time my whole care team was listening to each other and to me I was going to pay for it

oh capacity bears by configurations in the santo and got an owner's manual for digital information always secure cargo uh... you know go ahead with that where you going with that well i i really hope that it was a storyline because it just rate to really unnecessary insecurity on his part i mean i think he knows where his fan base is and apparently wwe is comfortable enough to let him do his thing and let everybody else do him but yeah it just you know that that kind of stuff is why i was never a whole kogan fan and uh... yeah you know i don't he he knows his spot is not going anywhere because there's nobody to replace and then and that kind of stuff just looks really petty around his part yeah well it does unless he's hinting at a yield turn i mean i it's tough to tell on twitter the the the tone in the inflection um but you know is if you just playing around the event but i just i mean i'm i'm not trying to sound old even though i

you know i'm almost middle age hopefully um i'm not trying to sound old but stop talking about twitter you know like get your house in order i don't care if you're trending on twitter you know i mean i would i don't know what percentage of tweets go unread um you know but it's probably somewhere in the ninety nine point five percent level i mean i people follow a lot of people on twitter and to read every tweet by everybody that they follow would take forever and so if you if you're following more than two hundred people on twitter and you read all of them it's it's really i mean maybe it's time to reevaluate how you're spending your time i mean there comes a point where and i mean this for w w two what what since when is the goal to get more followers on twitter when your ratings are tanking when your by rates are tanking when live attendance is taking when all these numbers are dying what why are they worried about who's trending on twitter it's like they're trying so hard to be hit been show that they're with technology and i'm i'm not saying abandon it completely but sometimes it's like well our rating suck and we are booking as a mess but at least we got an extra

million followers on twitter across the board this week it's just like i don't know i was ace in a my in my office now it's annoying i mean we've talked before you wouldn't see this from the big four national broadcast of sports you know you maybe you're during a baseball game because they've got nine innings of low in local announcers need to fill with something but uh... you know if you're talking like fox NFL they're not going to tell you if uh... to any romos trending on twitter because they don't care it's not that important i think acknowledge it have a twitter presence of course you know it i think it's good to have that if you're wwe but quit making it seem like it's you know did this alter important thing that somebody's trending on twitter because it's not all right uh... breaking news we have our ratings that jason are you willing to make a prediction uh... what did you last week to seven one yep uh... this week i will say with the charlie sheen roach doing as well as it did i'm gonna go with the two six and new york giants among and i football yeah two uh... that was big but in i i debated this and my killer hotline last night that i recorded

for vip members after raw i kind of debated and and i concluded ill draw somewhere between a two point five and a three that was my good exactly and that by the way i also predicted that either the giant or rams would win last night i know i football um i so i but in the end i said i wouldn't have been surprised if they hit a three just because it's the day after the pay per view and last week was against two football games and and so that was one of my answers and that's the one that i am going to say was my final answer because ronda to three point out well i'm impressed yeah yeah will you impress with me no okay i'll go back and listen to the tape to see what my final answer was but for the sake of the show my when i did say i would not be surprised to hit a three oh i'm gonna pretend i follow that by saying that is my official prediction um so they're back where they were two weeks ago at a three point oh which was scary but it sounds good relative to the two point seven so it's a

nice rebound i really i honestly i mean jason and you're with me on this based on your prediction of a two six and that was not a crazy prediction i would not have been surprised if the best rating they had for the next two months i shouldn't say that until rock returned to rock would have been a two seven you know i really could have seen that up against one at night football and and two and a half men and and there are other things dancing with the stars i think wasn't that on last night a premiere i don't believe there's a lot of things on tv last night so i just think a lot more people are at their tv sets and i don't know maybe the john it's so crazy but maybe those pet those petulant that's the word for them the john cnf fans we're happy enough to tune back in you know they don't they don't like it when he loses but when he wins they tune back in i don't know um and there was also you know there was kind of a cliffhanger at the end of that show as well you know in terms of uh you know more conspiracy kind of stuff yep yep um the uh comedy oh comedy central roast that was the other big thing yep yep i always about that up six point four million viewers um that is uh well they tell you how i'm putting it up right now on the side to tell you

how big that was someone sent me uh zapptua.com's breakdown of the 18 to 49 demographic the sheen roast did a three point eight compared to wwe's one point six and then the replay of the sheen roast at like n 30 11 30 at night did the same rating as raw and that demographic one point wow that thing was huge well raw last night was number three on cable behind money night football and uh the comedy central roast um and it also trailed them in all all the key demos uh but uh i think it did uh defeat pond stars in overall viewership and demos that's such a crazy breakout show on gable that does well yeah uh rob bounced back to its best rating in seven weeks among male teens also for whatever that's worth despite the strong competition it was number seven for the night um one year ago you know we talk about raw ratings being in a tough spot raw ratings one year ago two point eight September 20th 2000 uh 2010 a two point eight rating compared

to a three point oh so they're actually better off than they were a year ago in that regard and the male teen audience we spent a week talking about because they've been under two point oh three the last four weeks which is crazy considering they were at 4.55 in that demographic back in february and which was a high level but they were consistently above three um in last fall that rebounded to a two point two three and it was only a two point four nine a year ago so it's still down the male teen audience still down but not nearly as alarming as what i just said 20 minutes ago which is that it was almost half uh now compared to a year ago so some nice rebounds and numbers that's why you know every week we analyze it but i think we we do it with the caveat being it's one week it's a snapshot it's it's a pinhole look at a very larger collage of indicators this is a positive for wwe but we're still it's important to say in context we're giving a positive to a three point out and and that is scary that the bar has been lowered to the point that a straight up three

point oh oh rating is worthy of of everyone exhaling with relief at pampered when i also want to see you know every once in a while someone will and hopefully they're listening and they do will send me the the breakdown of the quarter hour ratings and the hourly ratings and whatnot uh the she rose didn't start until the second hour of raw so i'm curious to know if the first hour really did well in the second hour not so well or you know just just how it broke down so hopefully i'll get those and i think you know new york fans i what was was new york ahead comfortably the whole game or did they break out at the end i just tuned in yeah they were they were up you know i it was not an appealing game the rams had a lot of injuries and the rams aren't a you know a high profile team they're a good young team on the rise but uh yeah new york was comfortably ahead and you know the ramp score to lay touchdown to make it look a little closer than it was but from what i saw of it which wasn't a whole lot it was a pretty dull football game yeah yeah so that helps too all right well uh let's see uh we left off with Ian who's still on hold Ian any follow up

um yeah just just one more thing i ordered the pay for you Sunday and it was the first pay for you i think i've ordered it like almost a year and and i seemed to like the undercard a little bit better than you guys did in your roundtable but those last two matches just really made me feel like through a way fifty five dollars that i couldn't really afford to spin in the first play and that's not really a good feeling for somebody that watched wrestling for 20 years and so you're on the you're on the side of that just too much chaos and craziness booking wise just too many things thrown at the wall in that main event because i thought the match itself was pretty good and and i was on the side of kind of liking what they did with it i as long as they only do that like twice a year at most i think it's fine to just throw a ton of ingredients into the soup and just stir away for ten minutes at the end of a pay-per-view uh especially when you give us a good ten minutes of action or so leading up to it with a brawl all around the arena which again if they only do that twice or three times a year then i think it stands out as less of a crutch and more of a novelty so

i i i came a way liking the main events better than you did and i i wasn't upset by seeing a winning i mean i kind of accepted that might happen and with the feud coming up with a rock or the whatever you want to call it the or it's microcold correct me the rivalry with the rock it does it does make sense that scene i should have that title so i i don't know i thought those were two good matches not great but good matches and the booking of the main event it bothered me but i absolutely acknowledge and and respect and understand those who didn't like it but my reasons for liking it are some good action and they don't do that very often and it left me wondering what the heck is going to happen next and maybe that maybe that helps in the ratings too Ian? Oh yeah um well i guess maybe i would have liked the main event a little bit better had i not been left with such a bad taste and i'm now from the WWE title match i i guess i should expect so much but i didn't really think it was that good of a match to begin with yeah you know it was pretty

one it was really boring it was boring you know what was boring really the first half or so really was boring i mean it was very one-dimensional and i agree with you on that i just thought they really turned it up at the end and and had a really good final five six seven minutes and that helped make it in my mind a good match even though yeah i think the first half of it was a good time to grab a snack or you know whatever Jason your thoughts on those two those two subjects we haven't talked to you about that those two those two matches yet here on the show yeah actually i was being on this one i well you know wrestling wise i thought it was a solid show creatively they left a lot to be desired i i just can't get excited about john Cena winning the title again and such a meaningless way and and really tearing down el burudal rio in the process uh the main event i mean it was a good brawl it didn't stand out it is memorable in any way all the run-ins and the confusion over you know why they they they set up uh triple h to be pinned but then our truth reaches in and breaks up uh triple h being pinned later it it was a mess and i i i i really the

the last two matches did i left left me with the same bad taste in my mouth i was really disappointed and frustrated with the direction of the company at that point well i got me a little bit more on track but but i definitely side with the end and and i'll i'll say two one thing that disappoints me about wrong this is consistent but i think sunday the monday is a good example of it is with as much as they did in that main event as much chaos as there was uh slow down and have a discussion about it you know have coal and luller and roth break down the tape and let six million people know what the heck happened in front of two hundred fifty thousand people the night before you know what what did truth and miss exactly do and cover that base why did truth interfere in a way that seem contradictory to what he and miss did earlier talk about that and and address it i think as a reward to viewers who bought the pay per view make it seem like all of that mattered and also make people who didn't order the pay per view feel like they miss something that was worthy of taking two three minutes out on a two hour plus tv show to talk about and and really get into it i i think part of

the problem with the the serial storytelling nature of raw is people only see four out of five shows because most people don't see the monthly pay per views sure so if you watch rye every week you're missing one very important part of forting store lines and i don't know that uh that a music fact video at the beginning of a show which they didn't do last night if i remember right uh is necessarily always enough but didn't they just last night go cold to the ring uh last night we got the uh well i know they played the theme song that i hate because it's still playing ringing through my head and then yeah i think they did go to the ring i don't call their being other long so i just say be proud of your booking make sure that it makes sense before you do it and then convey to the larger audience what that happened so we know what truth and miss really did i don't think you putt i they're trying to punish people for feeling left out but not ordering the pay per view but i think the message you send by not talking about it is it didn't really matter we've moved on already by the way two hundred and fifty thousand come on oh i know that was so stupid i know honestly you know like triple eight i mean between the u.s.c comments and

that i know it was priced scripted but triple eight is like seriously very powerful in real life and he's the type of guy who's not going to be shy about it someone says you know to him oh yeah say they got fine two hundred fifty bucks triple eight should look at them until to say to decide and go you want me to say what yeah i mean that was ludicrous i mean why not why it was the opposite of one million dollars in in uh often powers right you know doctor it's like you know it was it it was the equivalent of i don't know i just yeah i mean that you just sometimes i look at and then who zoom in who oh that was but well you know what makes hunter looks really bad too he just cost his company five hundred thousand dollars a half million dollars by firing them last night instead of waiting for them to pay the fine and then doing it and by the way when he said he wanted that money on his death Monday morning did he even know what day the week it was or was he giving them a whole seven days to get the money got really was giving them a whole seven days you got me yeah that was weird too triple eight just sometimes seems kind of scarily out of touch combined with supremely self-confident and arrogant and and i think that's a little scary when we look at the

Oh to work nonstop. Wednesdays when I go to softball we've got ad free access on the dot that member site and it's Honobo audio Chris Shore and I recorded got 80 some minutes of night of champions audio review and then I followed up last night with 40 some minutes of raw and we'll get together again on Thursday from the dot that weekly audio show that oftentimes features first run news item as they haven't been reported anywhere else or even

on the dot net website itself we break some news on that show just a ton of audio available for you guys if you're interested obviously you like audio if you're listening to this show and the best part is you can sign up for seven dollars and fifty cents per month there is an annual option that will lower that price to five dollars and fifty cents a month if you're interested and all you have to do to become a member is swing on over to pro wrestling dot net and as far as the app goes just do a search for pro wrestling and pro wrestling dot net will pop up right there with the torch and you can download that free app right away and we get compliments on it all the time people are really enjoying that aspect of it so but and if you're too cheap to sign up for membership hey there's there's still the regular version of the site pro wrestling dot net that is available for everybody and so one way or another I hope you'll check it out. Did you just call people cheap what if they're scraping together just enough funds for their cigarettes and coffee? Hey more power to them that's what that's what the ad based version of the site is air for but then there's others that are just plain cheap. Yes all right very good. Let's go back to the phone

banks we've got multiple people on hold here and we'll begin with our seven one four and then on deck is seven oh eight seven one four thanks for holding please face your name and where you're from hey guys it's Ron from more scanty you guys doing good Ron could you do for me what's on your mind today? First the comment I got a couple of questions to Jason the ad opell they do talk about tweeting they even have a scroll bar on channel two the football games with like their analyst tweets their commentators may not talk about it but they do do the whole Twitter deal and I think maybe WWE gets the money from the good old Twitter by dropping their names so much the only thing I can come up to maybe why they're doing it so much. I think with Jason and with Jason and me Ron I think one of our problems is when they're like yay we trended on Twitter it's like yes you're freaking WWE on USA Network the number one cable channel and you have big stars like John Cena yeah you should tweet on Twitter do you see some of the things that trend on Twitter? I mean they're bragging about trending and they're right alongside some really crazy

things that trend that don't draw you know top one two or three ratings on cable television so I think our point isn't so much that they show them promote wrestler Twitter accounts I'm fine with that as long as they stay in character and promote storylines and don't create controversy like Michael cold did and with this you know one infamous tweet on his debut on Twitter but it's more the celebrating that hey they talked about us on Twitter we got we trended that's a part that I think has been me that's at least my perspective. I mean think about it this way TNA does it because TNA trends on Twitter during TNA pay per views that no one watches they find a way to trend on Twitter. I can tell you how meaningful it is to trend on Twitter I'm not even trying to take a shot at TNA if I'm in their shoes yeah I probably do acknowledge it because they need all the help they get to feel a little more big league but WWE absolutely not. And you know when WWE breaks about trending on Twitter that means when TNA breaks about trending on Twitter there's biggest WWE. Yeah WWE should be above it. I pushed the heck out of John Cena's Twitter account I have no problem with that I think that's a great way to communicate with fans don't get me wrong I'm

not against that I just don't think they should act like it's a big deal you know that they trended on Twitter it's just a fine line and sometimes I think they mark out for the new technology in the internet and maybe blow it a little out of proportion but go ahead Ron. Okay and I have a beef with Bruce Mitchell I was listening to the one. He's all yours shows that he did a couple months back I think it was just he's not here's a dependency first I want to ask you guys if you agree with him and what what my beef is is this he took that TNA you could take Stone Cold Steve Austin in his prime put him in TNA and beat Ken Anderson now I don't know if well you guys think but that's huge disrespect to Stone Cold Steve Austin he to say he would be just Ken Anderson that's like saying the WWE manufactured Stone Cold Steve Austin and his talent would carry nothing now I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt because I

have a lot of respect for Bruce Mitchell and maybe he would stand that if Stone Cold went in there from WCW without having the Stone Cold gimmick maybe he would have got himself over to the point of just being like a Ken Anderson but if you took Stone Cold Steve Austin in his prime and say he left WWE and went to TNA I guarantee you that it would have made a difference well let me give you another perspective Ron on where Bruce was coming from it isn't that he doesn't have the utmost respect for Steve Austin because I know that Bruce Mitchell considers Steve Austin the hottest act that ever existed in pro wrestling for several years bigger than Hulk Hogan ever was bigger than anybody ever was so from that perspective there's nothing that Bruce would ever say to demean the charisma the power the drawing power the you know everything positive that made Steve Austin the biggest star for several years during the hottest period in pro wrestling history what he's saying is TNA is so awful that they would have destroyed him so he was trying to take the most the least likely

scenario that is Steve Austin could be put in a wrestling promotion and not make a difference and his argument was the one thing you would point to the number one thing if TNA could pick one thing out of the last 50 years of wrestling history and in a time machine transport that to their show what would it be Bruce is saying it would be probably Steve Austin at his hottest and Bruce's argument was after watching several weeks of really frustrating television TNA would have found a way to ruin him also and and and so take it in that context I will still I will say that I think Steve Austin would have made a difference in part because I think Steve Austin would have run the next of some of the people who are doing things as as wrong as they were because I know how Steve Austin was when he was on top and Steve Austin did speak out and did understanding industry and would have said no I'm not going to do that you know people who didn't follow the history of when they wanted him to do a job to Brock Lesnar I've seen you know scattered comments out there at times going well Steve Austin didn't get back because he didn't want to do a job to Brock Lesnar so he

was selfish just like Triple H or just like whoever and it's like no no Austin was completely in the right there because there were politics being played and they weren't going to build up the match ahead of time it was a very short term idea and it is what something that they've done over and over and over again without having a Steve Austin around to say no this doesn't make sense and here's why Steve Austin will absolutely do you know what's right for business so I think in TNA he might make a difference in the sense that if he was if he had any power to speak up he might have actually prevented all the problems from happening but if he were simply dropped in the middle of it and did what he was told sort of like Nick Foley did I think Bruce is thinking he had been destroyed as badly as Nick Foley was and have and make no difference just like Jeff Hardy and Kurt Angles didn't really make a difference when they jumped or RVD didn't make a difference when he when he showed up last year Jason your thoughts on that yeah Steve Austin would have taken his ball and gone home like he did when he was frustrated with bad incompetent WWE booking and rightfully so I asked Brock Lesnar about it when I interviewed him and he totally understood why Austin did it and you know most people do and as far I mean I've made the comparison before

that TNA could get John Cena Randy Orton and it would mean something to their ratings initially and within you know 90 days I really firmly believe they become just other TNA wrestlers even if they had the let's say they got Cena and they put the TNA title on them I just have such little faith and TNA creative that I really feared that they drag him down and they'd be right back to whatever rating they're doing they just did on Thursday within you know within three months I really believe that and probably I might even be giving them too much credit I don't know that it would take that long run back to you yeah that would be like the equivalent of comparing Randy Orton to Gunner comparing Stone Cold Steve Austin to Ken Anderson to the point you're missing the point though it's not that he's saying that Steve Austin would suddenly become this clumsy wrestler who's doing an impersonation of himself like Ken Anderson is doing an impersonation to Steve Austin at times he's saying impact wise that's you know that Steve Austin would become sadly

be a TNA booking if he just tolerated what they do with people and didn't stand up for himself he would become just another TNA wrestler like I'm saying that Cena and Orton would. So I'm not pretty sure he would suddenly become this mediocre wrestler. Yeah. What do we run go ahead do you have another question for us because we do have to get the other calls and you know you can you can. You can. I'll move on from that. Yeah. I just want to say I ran the Orton's at YWRTVD and he's I don't know what his deal is but he seems like he's pretty lazy right now. I think he can have the potential to blow John Cena out of the water as far as impact in WWV but he just kind of does the same thing like every week it's almost like he just like wants to work days down he just goes home and kicks off his boot and doesn't put like any any extra thought into his character and Ron was there something. Ron was there something on the DVD that gave you that impression too I'm not agreeing or disagreeing

I've just I haven't seen the DVD yet so was there something on the DVD that made you think he could be much bigger but he literally came across as kind of lazy or lack of days ago. Yeah it just seems like his first night he's like we're just scratching the surface on who Randy Orton is like we don't we don't like judge him by the DVD we don't really get the feeling like his character is it just seems like he comes through the arena on pack the back puts his clothes on goes and doesn't match and then goes back to the locker room. Doesn't like you know trying to evolve his character to the next level and we feel like week after week just it's the same thing like he's not like doing anything and is it a problem with WWV or you get to think it's a problem with Randy or maybe you guys don't think Randy has a problem I just think he's much better in the ring than Cena and just the personality that did come through on the DVD I think it was great and I just don't know why they don't touch on it or keep it a conscious effort not to like do it or what. Yeah no no that's a good point and I think

we've in the you know nearly two years we've been on the air here doing the live cast we've expressed a lot of frustration with Randy Orton Jason you and I have and on our sites and on our audio shows that it seems like there should be something more with him as a baby face especially but I do think he's had trouble figuring out how he stays true to the character that he was as a heel and not just do this sharp turn that's completely that completely likes any credibility how do you do that well figure you know he doesn't like the smile it's not natural I think he's self-conscious about his teeth or something or I don't know it's just like there's something about him where he's had trouble finding his standing but that said I think he's maybe the best worker in the world right now at least w w style and and that's a good style at its best and what he did with Mark Henry on Sunday was was amazing I give him an regret it but I give probably even more credit to Randy Orton but as a character has he caught fire did he make a difference in the ratings when he essentially replaced edge no but I think he he gives some good promos there always seems to be water boiling under the surface about to erupt but I don't know

you know I I I Randy's acted behind the scenes to a certain degree but he's not the type of leader that is Steve Austin or even a Shawn Michaels or Brett Hart were in regard to and interjecting himself on the product Jason what insight or thoughts do you have on that well I mean he's really stepped up his game in the ring over the last probably six months to a year I mean they were not getting that chin lock of doom like what you used to he's he's really stepped it up but he doesn't like being a baby face and I think it it's pretty obvious in his work and he's got a creative staff that I don't think knows what else to do with him as then so he's become very one-dimensional I you know I I'm not going to pretend to know what Randy Orton does when he goes home I mean we know Steve Austin was very active in that regard and always coming up with ideas and things like that but you say you know I don't know if Randy does that or doesn't I haven't seen the DVD so I can't really give a good answer from from that standpoint but I really do think so much of it is he does he doesn't he doesn't like being a face and I don't I don't know that he's got as much passion for what he's doing as far as his material go maybe he's not even passionate

because it's certainly there in the ring right now maybe it's just he doesn't know where to go with to either yeah I mean he might be confused I mean it's a it's he's in a much less sensible promotion than Steve Austin was in the late 90s yeah you know I don't think that's a man is as sure-footed as he was back then although Vince McMahon certainly stumbled at the beginning of the Monday Night Wars and came out of it really strong but I just don't think the Stephanie McMahon brine keywords bloated creative team where they spend all week writing shows and then that's a man throws them all out rewrites it rendering them almost useless you know most of the time I just don't know that that's set up with uh you know and with I think a generation of young writers brought in who I think a lot of them don't even understand the fundamentals of of what pro wrestling is when it historically succeeds the when it historically has its most success you know I don't know I that's that's a whole rant for another day but Randy Orton is just kind of I think lost in the middle of a promotion that's lost its way a little bit creatively and so that probably plays into it too when my mom got sick she felt powerless insurance denied her meds

her doctors talked over her and they couldn't agree on anything she kept getting worse and then you found solace for me they gave me my own health care advocate my advocate found better doctors scheduled my appointments and got my medications approved for the first time my whole care team was listening to each other and to me I was going to pay for it all out of pocket but then we learned that solace advocates are covered by Medicare and insurance nationwide I used to feel helpless too now I know my mom has an advocate solace advocates are health care experts with an average of 16 years of experience studies show 92% of patients say their advocate made a positive impact on their care that means better health outcomes less stress and finally feeling hurt see if you qualify at solace health dot com or call 8887 solace that's 8887 solace eligibility varies by plan must be 18 or older advocates to not provide medical or legal advice or services don't face the healthcare system alone find solace visit solace health dot com today this is Rick Burgess from the Rick Burgess show I want to talk to you for a second about something most of us put on autopilot car

in my team we character I really enjoy that he used to the most vicious villain ever and they haven't watered them out you know it's just this is the way it's supposed to be so what's your question Barth do you really show you're gonna pull your hair out of your teeth okay I got my question yeah he did I looked at the rock I looked at the rock video the lecture fine or something like that and I was thinking about other characters I don't think new thing seeming to character was given a chance to evolve so people can actually like him because I've seen other characters like they evolve yeah but I'm looking at was this scene is casting evolve he's gone from the chain gang to see nation he's gone from the F you to the attitude adjustment and he uh yeah there you go the F if you the F if any gone from jords to jords um and he's gone from green to purple to orange

to red um I mean no he hasn't evolved that much but I wouldn't say he hasn't been allowed to evolve Jason this is a guy who who 90 seconds willingly said poopy on the air willingly put that on the hood of of JBL's car you know I mean this is somebody who who time after time has done corny things that just don't work and there's times I think seen as phenomenal on the microphone I mean really good and he said really good matches including a rare five star match with CM Punk in Chicago Cena at his best is really really good but he doesn't have the self-editor I think to know when uh when he's off track and I don't know that that's somebody else's fault now you know 60 seconds he hasn't really evolved but I think it's a combination of he and probably Vince McMahon saying to themselves with you know if it ain't broke don't fix it and you know I think it's gone on too long but it's a criticism I have of a lot of guys in WWE for for the longest period of time Sean Michaels was like the only guy to acknowledge that he was aging you know I mean it just they don't play up that storylines they could about guys for

you know getting to that point in their career where can they get it done still I mean there's that that question never comes up have even one triple H returns from a quad injury he's just super triple H again there's no questions about boy can he come back from this you know they just that they really do stick with characters that work and they're afraid to really adjust them yep very good let's let's we're gonna take two more calls on today's show 951 you're up now and then 210 you're on deck 951 please state your name and where you're from I said Jacob from California hey Jacob what's on your mind today um you can ask this and I mean you can answer this in the after show if you want but just for the sheer absurdity of it a muffit get a stosting law is that not the greatest crossover uh Jason I haven't put I haven't put much thought of this yet but what do you have it no the muffits guess I mean it depends on how they execute it what what I can't believe I just said

that what what's your opinion on this um I mean there's gonna be a segment of all the fans that grew up with them that are gonna like it and I'm sure there's gonna be some people backstage that have fun with it and there's gonna be a lot of us that you know like grew up with it I it was fine it was what it was but uh I I just don't need to see those worlds collide and wait I I know about your love of the muffit so I I'm sure that you're just giddy about this yeah I may have to skip that raw I have I've had nightmares about muffits and I'm not sure why but they've always given me the creep so um just the muffits on the muffit show not not sesame street muffits it's a weird division there's just something about I think you know John Denver and you know the celebrities that interacted with them and the the way that they were portrayed and the style of humor I don't know maybe too many people who were guest stars on the muffits in the 70s died horrible deaths I don't know what it is but just think about them that creeps me out and I think it's it portends bad things for w w this fall and uh frankly I am uh saving my money because I think we may Jason

you and I may be out of work um shortly after them up at episode airs I don't I don't I don't even say words like that around me okay don't even say words don't tell you because what if it's not what if what if it's not and I just curl into a fetal position and rock back and forth you can end up on more you know when they have like those are the the phobia is about pickles jars and stuff like that yeah yeah with when it comes to the muffits yeah I'm I'm hoping my son Bowie doesn't love the muffits on Netflix or something that that's oh man I never even thought of that I know I know all right let's go to uh airy code 210 thanks for holding up please state your name and where you're from the sterile from San Francisco how are you guys today I doing good girl good here from you what's on your mind um two quick things Jason Powell I really appreciate years since it meant the first John C. North is concerned uh I agree with everything you have said and lead killer I just want to ask you uh uh why are you so again um not boycotting but you know pseudo boycotting uh John Cena

and just getting some sort of you know crazy uh you know storyline in there where the devil the u.s. force you know to create a new star you know what I mean uh how would this how would that work and what are you citing that I'm against it um not I I don't like using the word boycott because boycott is such a bad word I don't want anyone to boycott the deputy because I love the WWE but at the same time I just so like people need to kind of turn oh and unless we turn falsibly away from John Cena um not just gonna change because people have been programmed to cheer him no matter what although a certain uh pocket of us or a huge pocket of us understand that something needs to happen so do we just kind of you know what would you suggest uh collectively for those that looks like like you know like bores in myself well here here's your thought what I'll say to that Darrell first of all I don't think that if you are alone and it not alone but if you're a small minority uh and hating and hating Cena's push you know we're being turned off by

Cena's push if you're a small minority then doing some sort of a boycott first of all won't matter it won't register and it would be the wrong thing to do because if there's a small pocket of people who passionately don't like Cena but the vast majority like him whether they're paying money to boo cheer him or boo him if he's seen as a star who people are willing to pay to attend shows to watch and cheer boo him and you're in the minority then a boycott won't matter and it'd be the bad move now in the contrary if your feelings are matched a large number of fans who who are turning away from watching Ron buying pay per view it's gonna show up in the numbers like you don't need to be you don't need to be any more proactive than you already are because by definition this is gonna take care of itself if your feelings are matched by millions of others W.E. will see that in the numbers and eventually they'll make the decision to move away I think what you can do

that would make a difference it is if everybody listening to the show and everybody went on message boards and on Facebook and said um during the month of October send W.E. a letter not an email not a Facebook post not a Twitter response a paper letter in an envelope go look it up online where there's a post office where you can buy a stamp go to an office store and buy one envelope and put in there I am one of those fans who have stopped buying pay per views and have stopped watching raw and smack down regularly because I'm tired of John Cena being on top I hope you will consider changing your ways of business sign it and send it in a paper letter arriving in the thousands to W.E. headquarters would land on the radar of Vince McMahon in a way that nothing else would and so if you want to organize something to let W.E. know it's not just a few disgruntled people spewing hot air saying I don't watch but in reality you're listening to the show and calling the show and responding

to what was really on raw and you're actually watching pay per views and I'm not saying that you dare but some people are like that I hate John Cena and they're the ones who were in Cleveland last night enthusiastically chanting Cena sucks and having a blast doing it so I would say a way to make a difference hand write a letter and send it in a real envelope that ends up at W.E. head quarters because all of a sudden everybody at W.E. would go wow this is crazy this has never happened before so that would be my way to say if you want to make a difference do it but it's going to take some take some organizing to make that happen and who knows if people you know would would really follow through on that Jason do you have any thoughts on that I'm you're letting go of it now you guys know I'm out of the torch we've got all those letters and thanks a lot people that's right I know from experience when a change is needed anyway I dare all any follow-up on that well thank you for that for answer I really appreciate that because I'm really active that's far as politics and economic knowledge is concerned yeah I've actually written my congress moment in congressman numerous times I'm very proactive in that sense but I never really considered doing

that to the W.E. that's a very good idea I'm on the fence right now with the joining the VIP membership program what extras do I get if I just get the audio show because like I said I got a lot of stuff going on to the day so I can't really do a lot of reading I'm reading all sorts of already but what can I what extras are in the audio course and which I think is like five or ten dollars yeah well we have a five dollar entry level option which gets you the after show on the live cast you know three four five times a week so you would get access to not only the live cast but also the VIP after show and then you'd also get the Keller hotline and that I do every single day I've done it for five hundred some days I think at this point in a row and ever skipping a day and that includes just running down the news of the day if there's insider news out there I cover it it's the Keller hotline is really designed for busy people who don't have time to read the website and keep up on everything and who want to hear my take on the news and also same thing if you miss raw or parts of raw or you thought you want to get a viewpoint on it every

Monday night and it's wait for you Tuesday morning if you go to bed at a reasonable time is my analysis so every single day and it's an RSS feed that you can plug into iTunes enter your password one and it'll be there on your iPhone or whatever device you use you'll get the VIP after show and the Keller hotline for just five dollars a month and then if you go the full VIP rate you get a ton of other audio including the post pay per view roundtable for instance on Sunday night after every T&A and W.W.P.P. review Bruce Mitchell Pat Neil and I join or discuss the pay per view for roughly an hour sometimes longer and also the Bruce Mitchell audio show every weekend about two hours of discussion on current news and history and Bruce Mitchell is is a one of the I mean maybe but one of the foremost experts on modern wrestling history dating back several decades and that's one of the most popular features on on the on the VIP audio side of things so two hours of real top shelf analysis from a 20 year veteran columnist plus you get access instantly to all of our all the torch talks we put up an audio format and every week now I'm putting up a radio show

that I did 20 years ago on KFA and radio we had a two year run on KFA and those radio shows featuring me and Bruce Mitchell and he's Meltzer and Mark Madden Jason Paul calling it to the show on occasion and special guest Nick Foley and Paul Heyman and Jim Cornett and some other big names on that show that we're putting up every week now so that's another benefit plus new torch talks like this year we've had John Permurene and Dallas Page and Long Form long long form torch talks to get access to those plus we have other specialty shows Sean Radikin covers the alternative wrestling promotions other than CNA and W-W-E with his semi regular audio shows throughout the month Gonzo and the Greg every week do a top five list it's a more casual radio show just talking about the news of the week and doing a top five list and the East Coast audio show and their after show and the torts and the style just show is all there and plus what's cool about the full VIP membership is it's all every almost every audio show we've done for years and years is available so if you want to go back and review our WrestleMania roundtables from recent years or the

WrestleMania's one through ten we did Retro Roundtables Bruce Pat and I did looking at the first ten WrestleMania and we spent an hour to two hours talking about each of them giving behind the scenes inside and perspective on it that's another perk and as soon as you sign up there's a link at the top of the page saying start here it's an orientation page and it takes you directly to some of the best stuff in our archives that we've put up for the past five six seven years of doing VIP so that's just the audio if you ever do have time we've got PDF copies of our newsletters hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of the newsletter stating back to the late 1980s and we put a new newsletter up almost every week also plus add free access to the site VIP forum access and and then also the text articles with VIP exclusives so even if you don't have time to read there's a ton of audio but if you do have time to read occasionally there's some really good stuff in the archives and new stuff put up every week so thanks for asking and and there's the answer I don't know if that we'll talk into giving it a try but for five or ten bucks you get a lot of bank for your bucket I think yeah that's great thank you very very much for your time Wade and James

and go Ron Paul thank you all right thanks a lot appreciate that Darrell yeah Jason I'll never I never turned on questions asking why should I go VIP yeah and the place to go by the way if for Darrell or anybody else it's it's pwtorch.com slash govvip I'm really proud of the VIP site and what I've built over there I love that we can take our content from 20 years ago both the radio show a call-in radio show with big name guests and familiar names not just not just my hosting but Bruce Mitchell a regular guest Mark Madden a former Torch columnist former W. Knightrow commentator now a big recumb radio show host in Pittsburgh and he still writes about wrestling he was on regularly Dave Meltzer from the observer was on regularly it's it's cool to go back and hear what we were saying 20 years ago and to be able to take the 20 years ago back issues now and scan them in and put them up one new one every week it's great because it takes this content from 20 years ago and it allows it to reach a whole new audience and those are very popular features now on the VIP site so anyway I

you know if you guys love this show you know listen to us through iTunes or blog talk radio you know it's 10 bucks a month and I think it's you get a good bang for your buck and I think it's definitely worth checking out and I listen to Jason's content also at his website pro wrestling.net and he gave a plug earlier for that so if you're looking for a lot more audio and you like what what Jason and I do here on Tuesdays check out our sites and give consideration to signing up for our membership site Jason I think we will end the free portion of the show there and speaking of which move into the VIP after show which will be available exclusively for members of our respective sites later on today. Sound good? Sounds great. All right great thanks everybody for joining us once again Pat McNeil will be on tomorrow as usual on Wednesdays and we'll be taking more of your calls and discussing more things including a big episode of impact on Thursday coming up and I think we get to take a little bit of a breath before Helen itself a whole what is 12 days away right now so thanks for joining us until next time wait tell her on behalf of Jason Powell signing off.

sympathetic and you're you know and you can start asking questions can he you know survive this he's going to be locked in a cell with this monster now that just destroyed him and there's not the rules that mark Henry has to worry about really stack the deck against organ i and i think people tune in if they like randio working to see can he can he actually overcome this and then you have and repeat them there i i mean so i mean more than anything it's because the pay-per-view is only two weeks away and now i'm sitting here worried going i don't think they'll do this but it is wwe it is two thousand eleven i think i turn around and put the title right back on randio orton and just undo all the good things they've done with mark and re much like they've undone all the good things it was some of the good things at least that they were doing with albert will do reo yeah yeah and del reo i don't think they did as well with but i think with del reo with the real two it it's it's almost unfair to judge him because it's i i kind of look at his title rain like christier goes early on christ bennwalls at one point it's just it seemed kind of lost in something else mincement man was more excited about

and ciumpon cantripillation john cina and even miz and truth and kevin nas and john lord nidis and the texting it was like oh yeah don't forget our world our wwe champion over here is in the middle of the show doing forgettable things and by the way in the meantime we're going to have john cina completely undercut his gimmick and say that he's not really rich and he doesn't even you know we rent these cars and i i like again that's one of the things where i just think john cina's wrestling iq was lower than i wish it was because that's something he should reject outright when it's presented to him i see no no reasonable argument where there's an upside to portraying albert odoreo as not a rich aristocrat who abuses his help hires these people treats them like crap and rubs money in the face of the people who aren't as fortunate as him that's his gimmick when you take that away he's a chicken heel who's a fake rich guy who's to be pitted not feared and so i didn't get that out so i just think they really botched alreo's push and in a way and i i mean they could have tried to fix it but maybe the right thing to do is get the belt off of them and try to figure out a better way to push them

the next time around here's another one why not wait until how i want to sell it's just astonishing to me that yeah they did does i think they did the same thing last year where they had a pay per view two weeks away or three weeks away whatever it was and everyone was happy well yeah people were expecting you know it to be kind of a setup show maybe you get one title change maybe not but instead they give away all both major world title changes on one show and you're supposed to tune in two weeks later to see you know that some kind of rematch and i mean i don't care for it i don't like the way they've done this and i don't think you need to just take it people who were intrigued by Henry or even excited by Henry's title when it gets overshadowed with the main event and and that big mess at the end and then it all and then also seen a winning the title why not let them let one of them stand on their own and unfortunately they did a hell of a job of falling up with Henry last night yep yep um i want to look at the other card briefly with you and then we'll talk a little bit more about Ron impact um Evan Borne and Colfee against

Miss and Truth this was uh Borne and Kingston uh winning with i thought a pretty cleverly played out scenario with it seeming like you know situations that maybe could be stacked up as an accident but three in a row you know in a short span of time it gave the heels that justification they needed to make their case where the fans go yeah i can see why they think there's a conspiracy what i what i think was missing was a commentator to go well you know one of the reasons the ref was had his back turned to that fake Evan Borne tag is because our truth interfered illegally so the conspiracy would not have gotten rolling had Miss and Truth followed the rules like you're supposed to do but unfortunately the show is occupied one of the one of the uh commentator chairs is occupied by Boquer Te who continues to undercut and destroy everything that draws about professional wrestling by praising heels for cheating saying it's aggressive and it brings the best out in the baby phases he honestly might be the most stupid commentator in the history of professional wrestling when it comes to understanding and conveying and understanding of what draws

he's a likable nice guy on commentary i don't mind spending two hours with him i don't get annoyed like i did with matt striker but he doesn't understand the business he can't and i people are saying you're going how can you say that he's a six times six times champion and he you don't you can be a successful wrestler and not really understand what it was that worked and didn't work about your career and clearly boquer Te doesn't because he's undercutting heels every time a heel tries to get heat every time a heel tries to create a situation where fans will cheer when the baby phase beats them up boquer Te's they're going not what the heel did isn't so bad in fact i kind of like it i just it's just he's horrible and so i think that does hurt what miss and truth are trying to do here because you don't have a voice Josh and Josh Matthews and Jim Ross were there and if Josh was he went to set anything anyway so anyway either booker or the takin subtle matter both Jason you're all start with boquer an example i he's not even paying attention to what the story lines are either because there was i think it was just last night everything we've heard from cina is that el burrito del reo is just

you know chicken champions a fraud and all this and what was booker say he never backs down from a challenge i'm like what the hell i know it's not consistent he's not good at this and i i someone just told me today Vince loves him and i so i don't know that we're getting rid of this anytime soon you know what makes it worse of course is that they do have Jim Ross waiting in the wings and they refuse to use him on their paper views for whatever reason now and uh... you know that just makes it all the more frustrating but even if you took Jim Ross out of the picture he's terrible he's not good at this once in a blue moon i'll get a defender of booger tea that emails me and i mean that they they like his personality and they think he keeps it lighthearted i guess that works for some people but you know you can do that but at least make sense be consistent know the story lines and he just doesn't as far as the matchway yeah i thought it was clever i like the way they did that uh... you know i a little bit downer to have the match and the way it did but so be it it's or it was you know for the better the bigger picture and obviously they were planning

ahead to you know having them fired on raw and so it played into it it kind of uh... four shadow but was going to happen later in the show with the conspiracy element of things and also set them up to be fired on raw so i thought it was very well done yep yep uh... kody wrote to the viosi defense and give them much of a chance um... but i don't know that the viosi came out of the gate as a new lead turn baby face all that hot either uh... both i think he's not doing his part and i don't think the bookers are doing their part is there something wrong with the viosi and really should kody roads have more healing at this point to yes he should kody rogers and mc card he'll i'm sorry that's all it is um that i don't some people get really into this and we're hoping that he was going to get this big man of an iron and i don't see it the mask thing it's you know he's fine in the spot that he's in i i don't have a problem with them being in the intercontinental intercontinental champion level at all but for people to think that he's destined to be bigger than this i you know seniors believing because i i i don't think he looks the part um... the knee pad things rise me freaking insane it's just go buy some damn knee pads i don't understand that at all um... but yeah i mean it and tedy biosi i don't

think they've told enough of the story i think they're morons for continuing to play his i come from money theme song now that he's a big money i hate anyone he was a heel and now he's a baby face and he's come you know i'm supposed to cheer for the rich guy that comes from money it's a good that should deal real yet really i just crap it all together i mean i like i'm all for different styles of music but uh... that one i just don't know i hear it i think they have it that's a thing other than he doesn't get along with kody what incentive do we have to cheer tedy biosi i know and not much not much uh... not not not at all i mean uh... yeah nothing there well okay uh... little bit the the next match on the on the show four-way deltziggler alis riley john morson jack swagger uh... i i've seen mixed opinions on this one i thought they packed a lot of action in the nine minutes it was just an okay match riley and morson were there just as placeholders because the storyline here was the doll jack the the deltziggler jack swagger dynamic and the relationship between them and fighting for bicky's approval i guess at this point

in that respect i think the match worked as a mid card match to forward that storyline um... and you know ziggler getting the win i don't think they did great follow up on raw last night though in terms of you know ziggler rubbing it in swagger's face that he got the pin and then swagger you know swagger should fire back and say well you got the win because you stole the pin after i knocked out uh... morson and that that goes to what i said also about the main event and all the stuff of truth and is a national that they just you know kind of ignored what happened the night before when it comes to a micro level and just assumed everybody thought and talked about the big picture i think this was something that deserved a little more time maybe we'll get that on smacked up well i mean they get it plenty of time in terms of you know doll vicki and swagger well dolphin vicki around the show quite a bit with you jackman swagger did what he did yeah i mean i don't i just mean specifically jason the the the fact that ziggler got the win and from feeling the pin from swagger why do the finish unless you're going to let that be part of the storyline the next day like shouldn't that matter shouldn't that be part

of why vicki would choose like to me vicki's like yeah you know jack you're you're be great member of the team well why storyline wise she needed to say uh... jack i know that you are the reason we won last night and that's all she had to say in that promo you don't think we're got the pin because you softened up john morrison and finished him off and i recognize that don't spend breaking all day about getting the win but i know you're the guy who made it happen you're part of the team i mean why not incorporate the booking on sunday to what she said on monday there was a complete disconnect well i i think the i think ultimately it's going to play out where they're going to have a singles match in bicky can apt to choose and i don't like it i would have per i think this was the perfect time to to give the title to jack swagger especially with ziggler being embarrassed and and melting down on raw i think ziggler's the one going baby face i've kind of gone back and forth on that but it looks like doll for the guy who's going to be going face so you know why not having kind of that frustration boiling over he lost his title to this guy now he's being shown up and then vicki's spending all this time with the i i just think it wrote

itself but i really do think that's what we're going to get is a singles match between them and then uh... you know who who's vicki going to side with and she cost doll to title that way and then again we're back in that position where we've got a baby face if they go this route that we're supposed to cheer not because he did the right thing but because he was screwed over as a heel yeah i i i that's the thing where i don't get how sundays booking and forward the storyline and the way that you described which is also i think the way they're going um... how does doll stealing the pin from swagger make doll ultimately the baby face i'm a big fan of doll if i'm a big fan of swagger and i'm a big fan of vicki i just think the storyline right now is being played out in a sloppy fashion and there's just too much of that going on in wwe2 often where i just think there should be a storyboard and they should plan it out eight weeks and they should make sure they should put it up on an inkboard draw it out write out the laws on the pay per views write on the inkboard here's what we're going to do here's a logic behind it and then look at it from

each of the characters perspective how would vicki interpret what just happened let's have her talk about that how would dolphin interpret what just happened let's have him talk about it or at least make sure his actions and words are consistent with what doll for do doles consistent reaction to what happened last night would be bragging about being the stronger at the stronger person of the two and that's why vicki should stick with him and not give the time of day to swagger and the logical thing for swagger to do would have been to point out that the only reason they want is because doll stole the pin and vicki should take that into account if you don't every chapter should the next chapter should take into account what happened the first one they should have this all planned out over an eight or ten week storyline arc and they don't they don't have to think about it again you know it's just it's set it's there work out the details on the tb day and and then it should all make sense but i don't think they ever just step back and look at the progression of things they just make it up as they go along and between their you know pop smoking and all the attention on all the other things going on that matters more to them and all the distractions about movie studios and all the i don't know how many

people in that company are in a position to actually remember and keep track of the stuff and i don't think they think it matters and i believe it does matter i believe that attention to detail matters a lot more than they realize at this point it may not be fun for them it's kind of the dirty work it's kind of like doing accounting when you'd rather be doing the fun part of your job but somebody should be keeping track of that holding them in line they should and you know i'll give the writer the writing team a bit of an out and just question other people that want to take this approach and they try only have the day of the show means big man just you know change everything yeah it wouldn't shock me a bit um you know i i heard from somebody last night was just saying he's insane he's yelling at everybody again he's carrying on like a lunatic and i mean there's something up with inst big man and and i feel first i think although creative overall deserves a lot of criticism you just you wonder how much of it is god let's just get through this damn week and and hope to

get a couple days away from this not you i'll just do what it takes to make him happy yep well you know we look at other promoters i mean burn ganya's one example because i just put up the the burn ganya torch talk i did uh... twenty two years ago file i found that i do because i when organizing the focus tapes and and put that up and and it was you know did i i listened to it's fascinating hearing vernan and knowing what people are saying about them because they're like wait this guy in the eighties he's so out of touch and yelling at everybody and snapping and just and things he's more in touch with the business than he is and i'd brought me back to those memories when i was you know first starting to learn about the behind the scenes aspects of of the promotion i grew up watching and they said oh the burn in the seventies you know not that he was perfect but he was totally different than this vernan and it's just like vincex man in the similar age range is is reacting in a similar way you know i it's like vince is becoming verd and you know it's like maybe there's something not right going on in his brain i mean you hate to diagnose anything from a great distance because maybe it's just he's got no character and no self-discipline and that could happen at any age with a healthy brain but you start wondering what is going on that would cause him to

act so erratically and to put out a product that in some ways is is still brilliant in their things vince does better than probably anybody else who you know in that company can do but it's it's the inconsistency in the sloppiness combined with the erratic crazy behavior behind the scenes it does make you wonder and it's a big story when my mom got sick she felt powerless insurance denied her meds her doctors talked over her and they couldn't agree on anything she kept getting worse and then you found solace for me they gave me my own health care advocate my advocate found better doctors scheduled my appointments and got my medications approved for the first time my whole care team was listening to each other and to me i was going to pay for it all out of pocket but then we learned that solace advocates are covered by medicare and insurance nationwide i used to feel helpless too now i know my mom has an advocate solace advocates are health care experts with an average of 16 years of experience studies show 92 percent of patients say their advocate made a positive impact on their care that means better health outcomes less stress and finally feeling

that i've that i've spoken with to make the comparison to verga on yet it's uh and i know somebody who work closely with vents who's who's used that exact same analogy and and i think you know with with the when we criticize the company it's easy to sit here and and say yeah people should do this and speak up and say that and and all that i think at some point it's sort of like what i said about the tna pay for you last sunday which i thought was just a lazy phone in effort by a lot of the guys yeah um i think there comes a point where you know you work for you're worried about your family and your life and your free time and keeping your job in a tough economy especially in wrestling where you don't have a lot of options and not everybody sitting there going well do i want to earn you know eighty thousand dollars working for tna or two hundred eighty thousand dollars working for wwe or i have this job waiting for me in a completely different industry at home not a lot of people are saying that you know when you get in wrestling you oftentimes are all in if the economy is great you can pull a shame dog listen threatened to go to medical school and become a doctor and you know shame would always do that in the nineties and and paul payment is like i'll believe when i see it i mean people do have options they move on other

things but a lot of people do i think take the path at least through systems and kind of just go well vents knows best and even if he doesn't it's not my place and i think that's not a great corporate environment to have you know i i think that i i don't blame people for for looking out for themselves but it it comes down to you're not going to have the best wwe you can have when you don't have a corporate structure in place that rewards critical thinking skills and vents being held accountable and people not having negative ramifications for speaking out and pointing out shortcomings in the creative side of the product or any any part of the product well you know i was thinking that when you were talking about john cnn having a low iq how much of it is john cnn and just knowing maybe he's got a high q from the standpoint you know survival standpoint that hey if i don't rock the boat and i just do whatever the hell they say um you know i'm chances are they're going to stick with me rather than you know if i rock the bright i might not be in this position anymore it's hard for me to believe you know it's like i selectively picked on wrestlers

and you know when it comes to not speaking up and i and i reserve it for john cnnn triple h you know that level of people because i really do believe john cnnn should at this point be able to look at the creative team and go you know i don't really understand why we would win that create sympathy for del Rio if you were a you know a fake rich guy and aren't people booing him because they think he's he's rich and he rubs it in their face i i don't understand how this works like ask those questions in a way he's got enough clout i think to not be in trouble for that now if the answer's response to that is screw you john cnnn quick bringing this stuff up i can replace you in a second maybe john goes all right i'll take my four million dollars a year and shut up and do it and says i just don't think seen is at that stage i don't get the sense that things are that way that's why i pick on him for that i'm less critical of like vicki and that and digler and swagger for maybe not you know because you know at the end of the day they're they're an afterthought to vince and in the big picture they just think let's not let's not create trouble because there's a lot of people in the developmental who want this spot yeah that's a fair issue i've been for sure

let's uh... let's go to t an a for a second sting flare last week i rewatch the match again today before deleting it on the dbr i just wanted to give it give it a fresh set of eyes and you know i mean i i don't know what you saw but it still looks to me that something at the end of that match even before the press land by sting wasn't quite right with rick and i don't think he's going to brag about it there might be something he's ignoring maybe i'm reading too much into it but there was a point where he know he he he threw some chops and he was leaning over in the corner and it was like he was gasping for breath before in between chops and saying some things distinct and calling spots blatantly and it was right before that he was laying in a figure for a leglock for a while catching his breath so he shouldn't have been winded and then he took you know the weird bump off the top rope and that's where he blew out his elbow um i don't know the whole thing just and and there was a point to where he clipped sting from behind i feel like the brooder film analysis here but he clipped sting from behind and hit his knee and tna went to a replay and they replayed it from two different angles and i wonder what was going on in the ring at that point that they cut away

to replay rick flair clipping sting from behind it wasn't replay worthy you know it happened and it's not something you're going to replace so i wonder if our life correspondents if they remember if there was something at that moment that tna did not want to air where flair looked like he was you know having trouble breathing or you know that that made people more concerned because on tv i you know i might not have thought twice that i'd not been tipped off but having been tipped off and kind of breaking it down it seems to me more was going on than flair hurt his arm on the top to rope slant i get people backstage felt that way that there was more going on not everybody but people i've talked with certainly taught you know the wilders there's something wrong with this guy's heart what's going on here and maybe you know the seed was planted obviously with uh... the grandland dot com story about the heart and then those issues but uh... you know a friend of mine who works in the medical fields and email and he said that watching that match with you know and he read the story he noticed it flair's lips seem to be turning a different color and he showed all

the signs of someone having some cardiac issues and uh... you will probably never know that here's the thing though what we're sitting here today and sixty one year old i believe gerry lawlers in the hospital because wwe didn't give me the table like they were supposed to body piper is in a hospital recovering from next surgery and he is put out on his twitter page that he actually was allowed to wrestle uh... in a wwe ring not just indy rings and granted he doesn't too much but it's still the point that he was allowed to wrestle and then you've got sixty two year old rick flair who is out there hurting himself every time he goes to the ring now he just come back from a separate uh... broken collarbone or something i don't remember what it was now it's the birth of sack even if you throw out you know let's just say that it looked bad it was you know it it really wasn't heart related fine uh... he keeps hurting himself he's sixty two years old these both of these companies need to really stop and ask themselves whether this is worth it to put these aging guys in the ring rick flair hasn't worked much lately i mean he's eight you you can

you guys will tell you that are in their prime that have injuries that you can train your ass off but you're still not wrestling shape until you get in that ring with a long way off like that for sixty two year old man is good shape is rick flair keeps himself in i think they're flirting with disaster i think wwe is flirting with disaster by having jury law or take part in that angle even if the table breaks like it's supposed to mark and we doesn't have a great rep for being the office worker out there now that this was his fault but both of these companies are really have to stop and reexamine this it's not worth it and i love the angle with marquenry and jerry lawler i thought it was great but it's not worth risking someone suffering a major injury even if everything at the tables gimmick and everything goes according to plan i i agree a hundred percent and there are ways to do an injury angle with the sixty year old jerry lawler that don't involve power slamming through a table and leaving room for air and you know just like there were ways and this is in a cheap shot

this is about the culture of wwe there are ways to get over the blue blazer character are not the blue blazer the uh oh yeah the blue blazer character with their own heart without having him descend from the ceiling when he's afraid of heights right there are there's a you know the show must go on mentality there's a you know there's a risk in everything you know it's the same stupid response people give you don't wear their seatbelt well i could die because of this or that or what if my car went in the water and i couldn't buckle the seatbelt it's like you know you just have to go with statistics you have to go with logic and the fact is is jerry lawler's old marquenry's got his reputation and your power slamming through a freaking table you know i mean randy orn almost got you know almost got screwed up on a spot he's at the in the prime of his life you know just last month so uh you know yes i there's a row for jerry lawler but it can be different than being power slammed through a table there's a way to tell that story and one of the ways to tell the story is marquenry beats down waller and ross and then a wrestler you know couple undercard wrestlers come

out and marquenry beats up one of them knocks him out of the ring and then he power slams a young able bodied wrestler through the table and wwe comes out and announces on wwe common the next tv show that that wrestler his career may have been may have been cut short and we may never see him again um and and you know if you really are planning ahead and this is where wwe falls apart but not have in the storyboard and you know open brainstorming sessions they could have been giving a push to some young guy in developmental that they aren't actually ready to push yet let's say they think he's a year away put him on tv have him get a win have him lose but have him get a win and maybe a competitive loss and then he's the guy who runs out you know with a couple of other guys to save a ross and luller and marquenry flams him and wwe this is an exciting young wrestler has internal injuries he may never be medically clear to wrestle again and then in a year when he's ready you can have him come back and people go that's a guy marquenry beat up and maybe have a storyline there or not um but then you have a young guy who can take a dangerous move and isn't likely to fall apart even if something goes slightly wrong so i i just wwe and again it's the mint it's the culture um

everybody nobody like lullars gonna go no i don't want to take that move i could get hurt because odds are he won't get hurt but the odds are greater with him than somebody else well i see even say it on Sunday night my audio i said i would have stretched out the josh math you're saying and i would have had him take a hell of a beat here you go one day and and granted he doesn't the fans aren't as you know they they don't see him in the same light as uh good old jr and jerry luller yep all right i think there's a way throughout the show to put sympathy on him where you know he's looking you know nervous and then he can just terrified by the day because i want to do this and then henry beats the hell out of them i think you'll get a very similar effect and josh math is was terrified when drew mac entire it interview says drew mac and test he does but the four years he's younger and he has had in ring training he was on yeah it's enough before and i i think it would have been effective for him absolutely so i i think that's that's a good no that that would work also i mean there's there's multiple solutions um for something that is just the wrong thing to do and put lullar in that position's the wrong thing to do

you know i mean i just it doesn't mean jerry luller can't ever wrestle again it's just power slamming him through a table when there's other guys who can do it it's like it's not about taking away all risk it's about it's like where your seatbelt you know take away the obvious biggest risk when there's a equally valuable or nearly equally valuable alternative that will accomplish pretty much the same thing if not exactly the same thing and then perhaps even give you something better to work with afterwards and i think that's our contention uh the the ricky steamboat situation should have scared bigot of them and there you go yep you know well we'll never know if it was caused by him getting back in the ring but just that the fact it was a possibility i think she'd have scared wwe and one quick point on the flare match i was told by people in tna that that match was heavily edited so you didn't even see the worst of that match certainly that that spy you're referring to where they put the the replay in there and then i noticed when we at least one other really hard at it yep yep i i wonder if you know there wasn't fancam footage i haven't seen it on the on the internet but if somebody fancambed that and has a raw footage of the whole thing i would be fascinating

to watch if somebody were able to sneak that onto the internet once again the flare play for god nothing rocked off it's all good here and yeah i'll be like when my mom got sick she felt powerless insurance denied her meds her doctors talked over her and they couldn't agree on anything she kept getting worse and then you found solace for me they gave me my own health care advocate my advocate found better doctors scheduled my appointments and got my medications approved for the first time my whole care team was listening to each other and to me i was going to pay for it all out of pocket but then we learned that solace advocates are covered by medicare and insurance nationwide i used to feel helpless too now i know my mom has an advocate solace advocates are health care experts with an average of 16 years of experience studies show 92 percent of patients say their advocate made a positive impact on their care that means better health outcomes less stress and finally feeling hurt see if you qualify at solace health dot com or call 8887 solace that's 8887 solace eligibility varies by plan must be 18 or older advocates to amplify medical or legal advice or services don't

uh... i assume he is still but we get new information today that last week he's got some pretty serious charges against them now yeah i don't think it's just a party level of seriousness i don't think there's any felony charges in there or if there are they can my guess is that they can potentially be reduced uh... you know i'm thrilled to hear he's whether this is what let him to this decision it doesn't matter the point is that he's going and it's something that needs to happen i mean this is this is the only thing that's going to save this man's life and uh... you know so i did the the information today i can't say i'm shocked by it uh... we're not shocked by the fact that he had steroids and droid paraphernalia in nor ecstasy for that matter so i mean we probably would have had those as three things probably that we would have put a better than fifty fifty shot we're in his house uh... but yeah the fact that he got caught could have been a little bit more of a wake up call it could be an end i've had people ask me boy you know what about prescription

pills because you know i mean it's it's pretty a common belief that there's a sole issue at play here's a thing if you've got a prescription for those pills they're not illegal if you have that the recommend you know whatever the legal amount is uh... the question i can take you to have who's feeding him these freaking pills assuming that problem i mean is anyone going to look into whoever this doctor or doctors are that it just continue to have this guy who has obvious issues uh... painkillers i mean uh... come on at some point it's not or is it a girlfriend or another wrestler indy wrestler like you know there's a lot of ways to get pilt through different channels and you know when your desperate for me you'll find you'll seek out you'll reward you'll buy uh... pay people off to get some extra pills that they have to i if it's a doctor going directly to mad i mean that's just ridiculous yeah i mean i guess we don't know that for sure um... and and uh... it's congratulations to reby sky for doing the right thing she's taken a lot of heat online with people you know i'm about twitter and what not i think i refer into it

to her as an enabler and i think it's a fair question to ask whether she was or not but to actually pick up the phone and call nine one one and and tell them that my uh... boyfriend is uh... freaking out on pills i didn't get it with something that needed to happen and good for her and you know i agree i agree um... yeah so to be continued um... i hope in i hope in a few months um... mad hearty comes out of this uh... very different person and yeah i mean uh... i related to that uh... the Jeff Hardy story um... how are you feeling now about it um... you know having watched last week show i think it brought out good promos from maybe debons best promo ever um... and i thought i've perhaps shoot style believable promo for major styles which is we're working our tail off to give this company a good image and people like you come in and and uh... arrogantly and carelessly wreck it i thought there was some ring of there's some rings of truth to that is you know brusmicial stance and i absolutely uh... respect to this point of you also is you're essentially rewarding Jeff Hardy

for all the problems by giving him this really marketable storyline based around things that have cost the company money and where the sign of an immature irresponsible for a blitz spoiled addict um... so i don't know what what what's your position at this point on on the Jeff Hardy storyline of redemption if i'm just looking at as a viewer it's it's making for decent television but the big picture for me still is that this guy hasn't gone through impatient rehab and uh... i think that something that i would have insisted upon before i brought him back to television yeah i i just don't trust tna i don't trust you have party you know i i hope you've already said nobody knows what i've been through the last several months well tell us yeah you know tell us tell us the real story if we like why can't you if it's a great story and you've earned this tv time in the second chance what is it you've done because getting off a drugs with will power is something that just doesn't have a really good track record of working for somebody with problems as long as it well i know tinae is going to point you know if anyone ever question them on in

a in a mainstream interview they would point to the fact that he's going through some sort of rehabilitation program because it was alluded to in his court uh... that i think you this but for me again it this should have been an inpatient thing this isn't just a one-time screw up this guy's got a long history and uh... i i i think it would have done him well and if i'm tinae i just i don't touch him until he does that and there's the same company that said they weren't gonna touch him until something like that happened or uh... once his legal issues were behind him and obviously they didn't do either because he came back to t he was back on television paid for earlier uh... the same night that he would be the same night that of the day that he was sentenced in court so they just went back on their words and um... you know they're they're big on second chances and apparently third four six six seven chances to um... my final question for you is do you think uh... our way to send clear it's gonna make uh... uh... splash a difference is it gonna help dvd sales gonna help i pay per you sales it's gonna help attendants or are some of these times plots and tv

stations you know relatively obscure and it's gonna be tough to get you know a large number of fans to either step and watch or even know it exists and or start dvring it enough to get into the storylines how how how excited about you are are you about this business plan that they have any execution of it so far you know that right now i i'm feeling kind of disappointed because i don't sense any buzz about their show debuting this weekend they did a better job of promoting online their online pay-per-view than they have the debut of their show uh... there's no you know i i don't get people and my readers aren't necessarily buzzing about it the ones that like ring of honor are but uh... you that's it and and so i want to see what they do the rest of the week to really hype this is a monumental moment really get the word out there about where this is airing and um... and then it's the they need to do a better job with this on the live i still i don't see this as a game-changer for ring of honor i mean it keeps them afloat the deal itself does but as far as tv goes it's a syndicate television deal airing on a saturday night it's you know i mean i

i just don't it doesn't hurt them right yeah exactly yeah yeah i mean i i just don't know what it really changes other than it you know gives them a little bit more structure in terms of uh... you know from a business standpoint they they they know they're on brudd well seemingly solid ground for now and the thing to is i think there should be it there should have had a bigger bus coming out of the tv taping then there was um... you know they have redone their format they've really shown that this isn't just going to be the same old ring of honor for better or for worse but format wise there's a vision here and it's something different and i don't you don't maybe that will happen with post-production and they've got a great image in jim cornets re-invigorated and you know the whole team involved is doing the rethink but i just i don't know that the bus coming out of the tv tapings isn't that we're not going to see some kind of amateurish backstage handheld promos that are you know somewhere between poorly and adequately acted that are you know fine in the context of an indie show followed by some really long wrestling matches

and you know a different style of announcing maybe that's enough uh... or maybe they can't even imagine doing it any other way but i think there's a lot of other ways to take the talent ring of honor has front office creative and wrestlers and their production values income up with something that would be buzzword the in catch people's attention and i i'm just i'm not sold on that right now so but you know but i'm certainly not critical until i see the final product i just i wish people were calling up going i can't wait can't wait to see what they have planned at the things i've heard a really intrigue me and i just don't think there's one thing that we've heard that is really intriguing i think it's just a continuation of what ring of honor does well and i'm just not sure that's enough but on the bright side on the bright side i think it could be what fox sports afternoons were for tna where it's just to get a track record of having put together a reliable weekly tv show should they're becoming opening on a better level where then sinclair media can say we want our a-show to now be on spite tv or mtb2 or some you know just what some some entry-level network

that's looking for progress and programming for any number of reasons i hope some in sadly that the buzz coming out of the tv taping was that it was ridiculously long and because they all sorts of production hang ups and yep that was it i mean and then you know the one surprise as far as who the color commentator is that i won't spoil here just in case anyone's avoided it for eight weeks or whatever the hell it's been um you know the one area where i think this this is they're going to get some growth from isn't necessarily the tv show i mean hopefully they're going to get people that happen to catch it um some new viewers but i think the fact they're going to have an the show is going to be replayed online is really big for them i mean this is an online friendly tv or company and you know the hd net show most people couldn't get the damn network and then they couldn't replay the show on their website and uh... so i think now you know because there are a lot of fans out there online that they they've heard of it and maybe they've seen a little bit of it but it stops there and this will give them a chance to watch that show on

a weekly basis and maybe become a little more you know just uh... well hopefully a lot more excited and into that product i agree with you there i agree with you there well jason i i'm that ends my uh... listed subjects anything else you want to bring up or shall we wrap up i think that covers everything great well uh... pleasure is always and i appreciate everybody for joining us both on uh... the pw tors v ip side and the pro racing dot net member side and uh... until next time on behalf of jason maul this is way teller pw tors shining off uh... when my mom got sick she felt powerless insurance denied her meds her doctors talked over her and they couldn't agree on anything she kept getting worse and then you found solace for me they gave me my own health care advocate my advocate found better doctors scheduled my appointments
