This is Scoots on a balcony talking you to sleep and keeping you company through first episode of Sleep with me. This episode is going to be from a balcony. We got some nice ambient noise in the background, consistent humming, machinery and fans, which I guess I could talk about later of my preferred things to sleep to. I'm coming to you from balcony. Welcome to Sleep with me. It's a podcast that puts you to sleep by keeping you company or doesn't need to put you to sleep.
It just keeps you company in the deep dark night or it gives you a break during the day. So welcome. I kind of see how it goes if you're new to the show. But I'm really glad you're here. I'll be standing here on a balcony during the day. And at night, just making some observations and talking about my day. So I'm really glad you're here. I am like, if you're new or you're not new, what to expect coming up. We got some support so that paying for the show is optional. Then we'll have a long meandering intro to ease you into bedtime. And then we'll have me standing on continuing to stand on this balcony. It's a standing only balcony. And yeah, taking your mind up. So let me keep you company so you could fall asleep.

What I'm going to attempt to do is create a safe place where you could set aside whatever is keeping you awake. There can be thoughts, things on your mind about the past, the present, the future, you know, things you're thinking about.
Feelings, anything coming up for you emotionally related to the thoughts or feelings that are just there. Feelings leftover from the day. It could be physical sensations, changes in time, temperature routine. You could be traveling. You could have guests. You could work at different schedule. You could be going through something or in the middle of something or anticipating something. Whatever it is, I'm here to keep you company and take your mind off of stuff so you could fall asleep, which is a little bit different, right? It's, this show is different, but the reason I make the show is because I know what it felt like for me throughout my life with sleep struggles. I know what it feels like when I can't get the rest I need, the rest I want.
I'm in trouble getting asleep, trouble staying asleep, trouble waking up too early, all those things. I don't know what it feels like for you, but I think we may be able to relate to some of how it feels, right? If it feels anything for you like it does for me, and I can help out in any way, it's really meaningful for me. It's important to me because I know what it's like. I know for me it's not great to put it mildly. If I can help out that, it would be my honor. But the thing is you may be going through something or you may be in a place where you're like, you know what? I don't know if you can relate to me. I don't know if you know what it's like what I'm going through or how I feel. And I'd say, yeah, maybe I don't, and I can still want to help, but I could also tell you that the cool thing is that there's people listening around the world in a wide diversity and variety of people listening throughout the world.
And I know because I hear stories that there's someone out there that can relate to how you feel, whatever it is that's keeping you awake or whatever it is you're struggling with. And they really hope this show can help you out like it helps them out. They're rooting for you. Someone you don't know somewhere maybe in a different place on this planet is thinking of you fondly right now because they can relate to those unpleasant feelings. And they're hoping you get relief. And they're like, man, I never thought this podcast or a podcast would help me or there was going to be a podcast like this one out there. But I'm glad I found it and I hope this show can help you out. Now the thing is even if this show doesn't help you out, they're still rooting for you. But they're also hoping you get that feeling of rooting for other people too that are struggling in the deep dark night.
And that's what's important about this show in addition to the fact that you deserve a bedtime where you can get the rest you need a bedtime where you don't need to struggle a bedtime that doesn't have as much rigmarole like a bedtime you don't have to dread. And you can get the rest you need on a regular basis so you're you could be out there living your life and that ideally you're out there flourishing because that's where our world needs like it's you flourishing. It means our world's a better place to be in when your world's a better place to be in. So I hope we could do that for you. The way this show works is I'm going to send my voice across the deep dark night. I'm going to use the walling soothing creaky dulce at times pointless meanders and superfluous tangents. So that kind of means my voice is not traditionally soothing the idea that someone's going to tell you a bedtime story while standing on a balcony looking over a part of a city.
And I don't know much about architecture and I'll probably end up talking about something totally unrelated to what I'm looking at. It's a bit counterintuitive right that that would help anybody fall asleep. So when you first get to the show you're probably going to be skeptical you're probably going to be doubtful why wouldn't you be right because like if you've searched for something fall asleep and if it's the middle of the night and you're trying to find something to do. That makes sense. And all they can tell you is that this show does take some getting used to it is a acquired taste. So just give it a few tries and see how it goes. And that's what most people that are regular listeners. And I said, hey, at first I didn't get I was like, this show's going to help me. How's this going to help me fall asleep? I thought this was a sleep podcast. When does it get sleepy or when does this guy start counting down or when is he going to start doing something like that?
It's got a tone like this. And that's fine for the people that that kind of stuff works for. But I'm more here to be your friend. And so it does take some getting used to like the idea that this is a podcast you don't really listen to. You just kind of listen to it like background noise or like a TV on in the other room. And it just takes some adjustment, right? The idea that it's like a show streaming under your pillow. But more in the sense of like a roommate that you could that could talk you to sleep. Kind of like a bedtime story or just tell me about your day in a calm. You know, oh, you had a balcony and you were looking off the balcony. Wow. What did you see? By the way, I'm not going to really be listening or paying attention. Is that okay? Oh, yeah, it's totally fine. I'm just going to talk for your benefit. That's what this show does. Now, if you decide this you're not going to like you tried to show a few times or you already know I'm not your taste or your style, that's fine.

There's no pressure to fall asleep with this show. I'm going to be here a bit over an hour. So you don't have to think about, oh, am I going to be asleep in 20 minutes? Am I going to sleep be asleep in 40 minutes? There's over 600 shows available in this ad supported version. So you could pick and choose your favorites or lineup episode after episode after episode, if you need them. So you don't have to think about falling asleep because my job is just to be here whether you're awake or sleep, whether you're listening or not, because there are people listening who can't sleep at all or who need a break during the day. And I'm here to the very end, whether you're awake or asleep. And that's something I cherish being able to do to be honest, like I'm here to be your boyfriend, your borbay, your borr-sib, your borb-bud, your borb-bruh, your borr-cause, your borr-s borr-lof, your neighbor, your borb-b, your borr-s, your borr-man.
What was it, oh, a neighbor, a borb-b. I'm here to be your best borr-friend forever and just keep your company. So if you knew, see how it goes. And yeah, see if this, if you have a borb-bud works for you, this shows a bit more like a service than a podcast. What else did you know? Oh, the structure of the show, that's the other thing I like to go through. The structure of the show is very deliberate, but it is kind of adaptable. We make this version of the podcast to benefit the maximum amount of people we can. But let me just tell you about the structure. And as you become a regular listener of the ways you could adjust if you find you're starting to develop preferences. So the show starts off with a greeting. Friends via the binary, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. So you feel seen and welcomed in. And you say, oh, okay, I might check that show out. It sounds friendly enough. Then there's support so that paying for the show is optional. That way people that aren't in a position to support the show or are just discovering the show.
Or a lot of people just listen to shows are going through a tough time, whether they're a student in the middle of exams, whether they just experienced the loss or some sort of life change or they're anticipating something. So show paying for it can be optional for those people too. If you find you want something without ads or you're a regular listener, you could get all that at sleep with me plus. But for people that are just here for a little while or new, this allows us to benefit tons and tons of people. That's what the support does. Then there's a long meandering intro, which is totally separate from the sports show within a show. It's around 10 to 20 minutes long where I introduce what the podcast is like I'm doing now. But instead of taking two or three minutes like it would with a normal show, it takes me 10 to 20 minutes. Because I go off topic and mix stuff by over explain things, which is a part of what the show is. But the structure of the intro is usually pretty familiar.
As you become a regular listener, I go through some of the familiar stuff. So it offers some reassurance. But it's also different every time. So the thing about sleeping me, you know, we made like 1400 something episodes, maybe more than that, is that there's always variety. And I think that's kind of essential to making a sleep podcast for this for our sleep podcast so that whatever is keeping you awake, I find for me that it becomes very, that repetition does not help me sleep. And that my brain starts to cite patterns. It likes familiar stuff, but it likes variety too. So that's why the intro is different every time. But the reason it's long and drawn out in addition to those reasons is to ease you into bedtime. Because that's what works for me personally is having a wind down routine and a buffer from the day. And that's what I've discovered making the show over the past.
I don't even know, it's the 12 years I have no idea. Is that easing people in the bedtime works for most people. So a lot of people are getting ready for bed, winding down, doing a chill activity or in bed getting comfortable. There is a small percentage of people that fall asleep fast at show and we definitely look if you fall so fast to show out a regular basis, believe it or not, you're the ones who's support the show is actually most essential. But if you're doing a false, don't worry about it. But if you discovery, don't like the intros and getting eased into bedtime, we have another podcast bedtime stories from sleep with me. It's available in any of all the podcast apps for free. Or when you sound up to support the show, you get a podcast full of bedtime story only stuff and a podcast full of full episodes and none of those have ads or anything as well as like cool bonus stuff.
But so the intro goes on and on and on to ease you into bedtime. I think that's everything I need to cover today for the intro. And I'm really glad you're here. I'm really glad I get to make these. We make a lot of different styles of shows because again, it goes into that variety things. And so there's some yawning like natural yawning going. I could just a couple of yons. So I figure it'd be better off. And I figured that out as I was recording it as the end of the episode.
But I'll also be interesting because there'll be some setups of the episode to. But for right now, I'll just tell you, I'm on a balcony in Los Angeles. And I'm just going to look around in its daytime now. I think it's maybe one, one PM or something. And I'm just going to look around and see look around for what catches my eye. I have learned, I guess it couldn't have used binoculars on this balcony either. But so let me just talk about some. I wish I had Roman Mars with me or architecture or expert because I think why don't the architectural Los Angeles is under appreciated. But we've got some really nice architecture. So I think I'll just do some counting of like architectural styles and then colors because there's a lot of colors.
So I have this one building. I'm seeing on my right. I feel like it's facade is art deco-y. And it's like a light blue along with like a like a sea like what is that called aqua foam. I'm trying to think of the Creole color for it, but it's a nice one. To the left of that building is like a modern-ness modern, a modern-nest modern kind of apartment building. Very tubular. A lot of it. I forgot about the parking lots of Los Angeles too, which I it's a man maybe one day I can just like be a parking lot attendant like if I need an X in law LA. I don't know if I could look at the podcast as ever winding it down. It's like, oh yeah, I could kind of work on the podcast a little bit and just be a parking lot attendants because I did a lot of walking last night in yesterday.
And it's all out parking attendants and even from the Spelkin Act it's oh yeah, we could count. Well, I could see three parking lots for sure for five. That's without even leaning. Okay, let's go. Oh, let's go to this next building. Oh, and buildings with plants on the roof too. That's another thing. There's some great lavender plants and trees on the roofs of some buildings. And then this one building is you know, like I want it initially. I want to say it's a rose and I think I've used this color before, but it's so there was a kind of what's the kind of ice cream called. So like if you're from I don't know if you're from like Central New York, so we have soft serve ice cream right and later in the episode talk about this. Oak milk soft serve I had for dessert tonight. This amazing place, but or last night, not time traveling even more.
Like what is the name of so so in Central New York as a child, the majority of soft serve was chocolate or vanilla or chocolate and vanilla swirl. And then sometimes some places would carry one that was. I can't remember. It's like a very one. I can't think of it. Blackberry. I don't think it was blackberry. But it was it. I mean, it's not a. I don't think there was any real fruit in it, but it black raspberry. Maybe that's what it's called. That doesn't sound right though either. But that building. It's color looks like the color of softer, which is kind of like a light pinkish purple. I don't know if that's what move. Is it more of mouth? I don't know. Okay. So what else do we see? We've got a radio tower on the top of one building.
We're looking for anything interesting. Like the. Oh, did I? I guess I didn't talk today. I think I did. No, I did talk about this. So there's a big. I think maybe a Japanese garden on the top of a hill somewhere that I can see in the magic castle is below that, which is on my bucket list. I know I do talk, did talk about that. There's a lot of great neon, which is not out during the day. Oh, we've got. So there's a top of a building there. It's like, I think it's probably a hotel. Maybe it's a clock tower. And it has. Whatever you call it, a copper roof that's or that's like or whatever pennies are copper and zinc, right? What to do? Episode saying goodbye to the penny, man. I mean, first JC penny and now pennies. But it has a roof that's kind of like very similar to lady Liberty where it's turning. It's it's pretty much green.
Then I have another tower that's got like a nice mustard color on its dome. Wow, it's a nice dome building, man. You got a great dome. We could also count. I mean, for the love of Los Angeles, should we do some palm tree counting? I mean, it's been a while. Oh, there's a lemon tree in an alley over a parking lot outside the back of like either. A restaurant or retail establishment. This is fun. Yeah, we could always count palm trees. How many is that like a like I guess could I get it? Like is there a way I could like pat can you patent counting palm trees in Los Angeles to put people to sleep? Is that I mean also I wish I knew the different styles of palm trees. Beautiful hills up above sea. Oh, wow orange striped fancy car. I'm not sure what kind of fancy car, but the fancy car I've seen today. Some sort of Lamborghini type for our type car.
Yeah, let's count some palm trees. So just below me is 123456 palm trees. Then there's those are the ones. I guess I don't know the difference stream palm trees. Then across the street is. So three more is nine than 10 11 12 13 14 15 16. What was our last count 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28. Oh, wow. Yeah, pretty nice 30 30 what 32 33 34 35 36 37 38 39 40 41. I guess I could keep going down that block is 42.
Okay, then I'm the next block after that for sure 43 44 45 46 47 48 49 50 51 52. Been moving down that block definitely 53 can't say more than that. The binoculars to 53 there. Now heading uptown 54 55 56 57 58 1 block over three more would be 60 what you might as 59 66. So I'm going to go to the next one. The next block up 62 63 64 65 66. I'm sure with that garden I could see at least five so 67 68 69 70 172.
I don't want like I'm only going to do confirmed palm trees right. So I'm going to go to the next block. So I'm going to go to the next block. 88 89 90 91 92 93 94 95 96 97 99 100 those are all about those are all listen north of me on the hills the very tall 101 102 103 104. Wow 104 without even now I've got to go west and south 104 105 1617 108 109.

gorgeous tile roofs are they roofs roofs or roofs I think is correct just looking for palm trees I don't know see any and that part of the hill oh no there we go okay there's 1 2 3 4 5 6 this is fun this is like a Head Picture game 6 two look at former of there's some up on that's way up there it's just a loan one so 갑ding there's 18 That one I can't tell so I'm not gonna count it. Palm trees come in Do you read me? I've already looked there. Okay, but I haven't looked. Oh, there's another radio tower on top of the building There's a ton there. We've got a bird tweeting and I know scooters are gonna kind of cover why we're here and the wonder of this Community around the show that I'm so grateful for and that I'm so grateful that I get to do this Let's see while we're on numbers We'll just finish off and I'll set up scoots with different numbers. It's funny when you start you're like those are the only two buildings that numbers on it but uh And those are the only two numbers I'm seeing right now But that doesn't mean that there's not more numbers out there. It might be that they're just out of focus, right? um Yeah, I'm not seeing any other numbers. I've seen letters uh And former neon science that was another thing I was thinking Was that last night this morning when I wasn't recording is like the mount I know there's a neon museum and Los Angeles and in Las Vegas I've never visited the other one I'd like to But the investment on like buildings That have science on the roof still that were na formerly neon science. It still have Like the outlines and maybe still some neon that aren't functioning but the investment that the um Like I'd like maybe like uh this could be something people encourage me to do is like The historical cost of neon signs and Los Angeles
Roof top neon signs or facade based neon signs because uh You look around at some of these former uh hotels uh that or former buildings that have their signs still up and um I just wonder like Like this this is just a time when people like well, that just not worth it like why would we put a neon sign on top of our hotel, right? uh Even if it's I mean like there's some If it fits this Hotels Sensibility right but like I don't know just like every building Well, I don't know maybe I might I guess I'm going down the old idealizing road, right? So I got to stay off of that Idealizing it a different time What it's just what that one has to neon signs even though they're not functional anymore and That one has one that I can see
I think that was when I was looking at last night that does work And again like this is like a kind of a limited I this balcony is like a limited view um There's some more numbers 6565 Other six four six four and six five six five but they're on I know the are they different blocks Maybe who knows So yeah, there's some numbers some palm trees and uh Some colors I've seen there's more colors and more roofs and it's endless right uh, maybe you know is Ideally, you know my goals keep the show going as long as possible. Oh, yeah, there's another neon sign at top of that building um I take a I Take some uh What have to like not only take the class about architecture I also have to do like architecture like flashcard class

That's what my balcony has I think it's gonna be consistent because when I checked out here uh earlier that was the case And we're coming to you
Uh, oh, I guess this is already I'm already going through the episode right because scoots who to already set it up um I think but I'm not sure so we're here in Los Angeles and a couple of uh Good reasons for that. It's a quick trip But it uh has a double double connection to the podcast And that fact is twofold the reason I'm here is uh Earlier today I delivered a Carload of about a thousand hygiene kits to the midnight mission And that's thanks to listeners Uh over the years who've been putting through these hygiene kits when I was doing live shows
And people have been sending me things to put together hygiene kits uh Raffi from uh dr. Bronners they contributed uh things to add to these hygiene kits And I only have a car so it's taking me quite some time To deliver these side you get to self one more load to go so uh This morning I got up uh and uh drove my little car uh down to uh To downtown Los Angeles and and we got the kits delivered and then I drove uh to uh Like Hollywood to the west Hollywood Hollywood area of Los Angeles And I can report so one positive thing because of the community around the show um And this was something we did with live streams And cornellia was a big part of it
And there was a lot of other listeners uh that were a part of it as well and some of the people on the listener run facebook group and Stacy and charlotte and uh a bunch of the people were involved Um helping us make these hygiene kits and helping donate stuff Uh and and the great thing is we made so many of them uh I've had a storage unit filled to capacity with these hygiene kits Uh, so we're still bringing them down we've got one more load I think we brought about a thousand today And uh that's thanks to listeners like you that just want to be a part of something positive But the other thing that's thanks to listeners uh that support the show is uh Russell rusty biscuit that's been working on the podcast For a long time now and is an essential part of the show That the show just wouldn't exist Without us help he really is
uh the man my manager And my supervisor And uh keeps me organized and accountable so that the show can come out and Particularly, I'll just try to allude to stuff, you know 2024 was a real tough year uh for me and the podcast uh and um I couldn't have done it without his help uh and uh He uh puts a lot of hard work into the podcast And that's that's the hard work in the caring we were talking about it We got to have dinner together. Oh, so this is the first time we've ever met in person um when Russell started working on the show he lived in New York And now he's living in Los Angeles and um It would have been like man we've got to meet up or we're gonna not meet up Until you move back to New York uh
When it you know and uh And uh so we finally met up and we're joking about it before we met up about how uh You know how it's like almost surreal uh Breaking like the fifth and sixth walls or the third wall or the fourth wall And the funniest thing was I was walking to dinner and Russell drove in front of me. He was looking for a parking spot And we made eye contact in our at least my brain was like is that Russell? Is my br- like it and I was looking Then like my brain was just slowly and he he Reckon that I mean he acknowledged me while I was staying at trans still trying to figure out if it was him or not uh, so it's kind of cute moments uh and So that's another reason we're here and I get to be here on a balcony doing this And tell you what I could see um Tell you about our walk so it's uh nighttime now it's uh
it's uh Zero sugar roopier 30 Uh, and I'm gonna begin ready for bed soon, but I figured I'd do an evening version of this and then a daytime and Version with the intro and stuff like that um But a lot of great neon here in the Hollywood West Hollywood area um A lot of good neon signs we actually have spotlights I'm not sure if they're They're on the hills I'm not sure where the Hollywood Bowl is I think the Hollywood Bowl's on the other side of the hill um But we do have two spotlights that could be for um They could be for anything I passed the Roosevelt Theater where I performed once as a part of a festival and Some listeners came out and a lot of the famous theaters on uh
On Hollywood Boulevard Where there's a lot of neon signs uh It was I got to walk through quite I did quite a bit of walking for the show And didn't do any walking and talking Just because it's a very busy area And uh a lot of background noise and music and stuff like that so I knew that wouldn't work Um now I'm just wondering if I can relay any of the cool things I saw um As a part of my walk I will say So in West Hollywood I was able to get uh deserts and um It was the mount of it was a ice cream place and uh the amount of um Care that was put into these ice cream cones Uh by the the two women working there uh Was it was absolutely amazing
Uh the name of the place is the urban desert lab and uh it's an oat milk Ice cream shop and bakery But I just uh and I guess it Maybe at some point recently they went viral because there was a science saying Expect a weight I was going in the evening or later evening So I didn't have uh very much of a weight there wasn't too many people waiting But also there's a weight because I just had so They are doing some I mean one oat milk soft serve ice cream Um is is impressive it was delicious But the caring so they have different you know, it's like a place like now There's were I don't I didn't read through the menu too closely um But you could always google it but you know they have different creations Uh, they've soft serve they have say they have cones and they have cups and then they have different toppings and different syrups
And cool they'll even put like a core or something inside your thing But this is what blew my mind because you know it's scoots. I consume a lot of ice cream cones And soft serve like I come from the area that uh you know summer meant having soft serve ice cream and so At first it enrized you had to order on the screen um, but then I finally got my order and no one ordered from front of me Anyway, so it didn't really matter and um so then One of one of the women working there uh that ran the place. She starts preparing my cone and she said okay So I wanted like this cinnamon sugar cinnamon crunch topping they had Uh on chocolate and in sweet cream swirl Um or I think they called it inner twine or something or Like a swirl or twist
But they had a different term for inner twine or something something nice So she goes okay, so we're gonna we're gonna usually dust the inside of your cone With your topping and she was putting some of the cinnamon sugar in there and she was both you we like to put like a You know one of our syrups and again she had a better term for it um Not topping But it was like a syrup. I don't know. I I Fortunately, they're the ones with the Uh much nicer vocabulary than me, but she said what we could do is put a coating on the inside of the cone So it holds your topping on the inside of the cone And we were talking about it and I don't remember what I said she goes Yeah, you know who wants a cone without flavor if you're paying for this flavor So she took like a peanut butter at the chocolate peanut butter and coffee syrups um And so I said well, let's try the peanut butter because it's a little late at night for coffee and
So she put a peanut butter syrup on the inside of my cone almost like a glue like a light Coding of it then put the cinnamon Sugar crunch dust it in there so the inside of my waffle cone was lined Didn't really realize this would be a Just like walking I'm not talking about Los Angeles. But yeah, this is one of the wonderful neighborhoods of Los Angeles. Los Angeles is a wonderful city in neighborhoods and so yeah She she just inside of my cone with this like flavored glue almost um and then puts the cone in and then they're wearing gloves So then she puts the topping on and that's just like haphazardly but with her hand packs it in almost like a snow cone um So she's like packing your soft serve Into like a snow cone type shape with the topping on there. So then it's not melting everywhere
And you're getting all this topping Uh, and I just was like so impressed. I was taught I was like wow. This is like I've never seen this much care put into it. It's been a long time since I've seen this much care put into a ice cream cone I would go blown away So if you're in West Hollywood uh, I highly recommend that I highly recommend uh Walking through Some of these neighborhoods in Los Angeles long walk uh walking through I got to walk three different strips here this evening and I enjoyed each one uh, and they've been a couple of them Were places I'd driven before and it just isn't the same um as walking it slowly uh and just savoring it And so I got to walk on Hollywood Boulevard for a while uh, the sunset strip and then uh
And West Hollywood and then uh I'm Santa Monica and West Hollywood and just get a feel for those neighborhoods that uh, I was walking sunset strip uh Close to sunset in the day I was walking through West Hollywood in the in the late Late eat early night In the Hollywood Boulevard I was walking earlier in the day And just wonderful is a perfect day This it was kind of sunny and then I had a little uh marine layer was in the 70s There's a little bit of wind so it's good. I wasn't trying to record anyway And uh, I forgot how much I love uh Walking around LA and the weather and um There was a lot of people walking I mean one out of Boulevard So oh this is another thing. It's like I got to go through like different kinds of like Uh, I always use the term schlock uh in a positive way
But so I started out in the deep uh The Now I didn't do any slow I didn't do a slow walk though, but I you know I walked How the tourist parts I'm going to hope I'm giving you a sympathetic yaw and that is because I'm pretty tired So I apologize for that yaw and but that was natural and real It made me get a dothr would I did have a very early morning um And I did other always already record episodes today too Uh, I had an early morning appointment and then So I couldn't fall asleep because I had to be up About uh to do something before I left Getting a little background music, but I think that's okay Said a distance we got the AC of behind it um And because uh because I'm tired my eyes are even less focused than normal
I do want to point out like uh, yeah, so I can see some Red neon and then I'd see a balloony on sign Or a teal neon sign I see a white uh neon Or lit up symbol So let's see there's also a very large Uh interesting structure on the hill. I don't know if it's a hotel Or a restaurant um And then there's the spotlights But let me let's just do a little neon check Uh, so red neon Uh is the most popular. I see one red neon sign two three four Two bluish teal on neon signs um And then as I move down Is that all the neon are we out of neon? I mean there's oh no then there's uh I could see one of the um theaters neon signs
And that has some pink neon some blue neon And white neon A couple of the hotels have signs. I don't believe they're neon though So I can't say for sure Uh, what else do I see with my oh there's a park parking sign that's Blue in red neon See a building with some purple edging that may or may not be neon Uh another thing on Santa Monica Lovard For a large stretch of it in West Hollywood they had these uh like uh large multi-color um lights Over the street and not just for like one or two blocks but for like 10 blocks And I don't know I think it was um there may have been a pride parade today uh, but I hope it's like up all the time. I just uh It get it just gives when you're walking at night a nice extra flavor
That's just full restaurants and bars full of people and um you know because of weather is so nice here Uh so many places people enjoying food and drinks outside And a lot of people like wrapping up their celebration Uh their pride celebration and happily uh walking uh from establishment to establishments And it's really nice to see uh I mean it and I guess like um It's what I'm like man uh So this where I'm supposed to live uh but it would be in the current future right now but um I don't know really enjoyable walk really enjoyable to meet rusty biscuit um There was something else I was going to talk about. I saw another blue neon sign two words
I can't make out another red neon sign was talking um And uh so walking People eating people having fun People smile I made a lot of eye contact people that's with people and Not her heads are smiled A couple people we said hello to one another Something I've been practicing working on Oh the other thing is um And I'll wrap this part of the episode up with this is uh So this balcony um Is not only to have the industrial noise But this uh like uh a little bit more It's it's nighttime and it's a little bit noisy or part of the city right So uh There's a lot of noise I'm making sure you don't hear and we're kind of cutting around but uh It's this is the kind of noise I really love and I know it's not for everybody It'll be tough to listen to it um
24-7 And even in that a little bit different than the Anaheim balcony episode because then the Anaheim streets the traffic was moving very fast Uh and even in the San Francisco balcony that was a little bit um That neighborhood was also like that just particular part of the neighborhood At that part of the night was like a kind of neighborhood where people are more passing through it Where this neighborhood is still alive And yeah, it's a lot a lot with traffic and different Loudness vehicles and vehicles with noise makers on there and people playing their music loud But uh There is something I love about that and I think it comes from for me like living in the Bronx and um That the Bronx is like uh Kind of loud all the time in a good way
Uh And this balcony is uh it's not quite that loud And that was in that when I looked in the Bronx in the kind of heyday of car alarms Uh, and they were kind of a new thing And you then income standard like you purchased them and there was all sorts of different styles and sound effects um We I do love the noise of a city and and walking it And I was tempted to take a biker um a scooter too, but I wanted I needed to get my distance in today because today is my long run day So instead I went for a few different longer walks Uh right now at night there's a marine layer. It's not fully marined in like a high fog um But I think I'm looking North and West right now I am actually and uh so I can't see much beyond
Too far west Uh, and I can see some of the hills um But not a lot of stuff that actually have a idea of what it is Uh, let's just see if I could figure out any of these on my maps I was trying to figure out what that building is up there um Griffiths and observatory, although that's not anywhere near me Okay Is that uh Yamashiro Hollywood is that what it is? Yamashiro Hollywood It's a restaurant um And And it looks like oh it's part of uh A hotel too wow this looks really nice I'm not familiar with this place wonder if it's uh
In my Oh, there's a gardens up there. Yamashiro gardens Oh wow when is it open? I can check that out uh It's only open at five to ten p.m Okay, I just was looking up and I just realized that the Magic Castle Hotel Is at the is right below Uh The hill for the Yamashiro gardens Uh, the Magic Castle and Magic Castle Hotel Which is on my bucket list, but I had forgotten So uh, that is also very interesting wow um So it's another thing I'd like to do Uh, I don't know if I could figure it out of my next trip down here to drop off stuff uh But maybe I can maybe I can't um So wow you i'm learning we're learning something new every single day Oh, I was gonna try to figure out
What do I see in the distance? There's a few different sets of large buildings And how far away is it? At Beverly Hills Um, whatever area this is looks like it has built big buildings um Norma Triangle is that what some of those big buildings are and um And then Beverly Hills uh Provoys are Century City Uh, oh yeah, those are big buildings there it looks like So we've got Century City This mate with a two different sets of large so three sets of large buildings uh Maybe around Beverly Hills Maybe around West Hollywood Park uh Okay, that would make sense
So West Hollywood West Hollywood Park That could have big buildings Then Definitely Century City What about to the left? You think that is Another section No, no, I don't think I don't know if this is your skillery because I think you're looking pretty far away now Um, do you think that's the same health as the getty on it? Can we see the getty from over here? I don't think you can But I mean yeah, I wish I brought my uh My knocks right Well, uh, yeah, I can see cars drive like headlights on the Hollywood Hills driving I also see the moon and we have a uh Cheshire cat moon tonight so just that smiling mouth of the Cheshire cat there Uh Looking good for uh for all of us
So that is nice too And and now the bog is moving pretty cool So I guess we'll leave it there and then I'll be back tomorrow with um The uh Open name and then more talking uh And then That'll come after this I guess that's interesting. It might be out of your league And and and I went for reading like I read uh Murakami's first tune the vellas before that so it was a shift in reading style
I liked those two uh too um but uh Like I think I'm getting into it and it does take it does take some focus trying to follow some of it So I guess I understand where he was coming from um But I guess I hadn't read it since I hadn't read any of his books since high school even though it's it I think I was reading a James Bond book that I'd got at the library uh The person with the golden printer and he said like what yeah that like yeah I think he wasn't saying it the positive way towards me Uh, maybe you just puffed himself up or maybe you just being honest because I guess Since in some of the high school me would have enjoyed this book Uh, and there's a bit slower pace and a bit more Talking and observing characters and body language and their internal dialogue So yeah, so I'm gonna get ready for bed. I don't think there's a time people that need the show of ever needed it more right So I don't think the time for the podcast has passed but um We are in a conundrum, right If the because we we put this message out a lot of times I don't have the stats in front of me But there's quite a few rooms of 100 listeners But there's a lot of people have listened longer than a year right And my messages are just uh Not working I guess is the way to say it But I also believe from what I hear from people that support the show Because we don't need everybody to support the show right uh the person we need to support the show the most is in a position Where they could financially afford to support the show on a monthly or annual basis They get so much out of the podcast that it's worth their money Or it's worth their time letting people know about the podcast
And they're willing to do so And it don't think that number is zero out of a hundred right? I do know that there's people that like uh That it's not a huge number either Because I've been doing this a long time But I think you're listening To me That there is uh one out of a hundred people that are either dealing with one of two things because we let support the show tell me this And those things are It might support just doesn't matter or some sort of version of that in your head or I'll just do it tomorrow Or something long winds is just too complicated. So I'm just gonna try to deal with those the first two in the third one will be answered And your swatches it doesn't matter. Let's set everybody else aside if you're in this room with me right now And you have listened longer than here or you've listened for a short amount of time about the podcast has changed your life
And think about what else you spend money on like what else have you spent $60 on in the past year or seven dollars in the past month or 120 dollars in the past year or 240 dollars every month or every year Or like what have you spent 25 bucks on in the past 30 days Just think about some of the stuff because I know I bought lunch yesterday. It was $20 But I know I know that lunch hasn't changed my life as much as some of the things I support on a monthly basis right And I don't know if that's a case for you and sleep with me. Is the lunch I had yesterday Like think about what sleep with me is brought you in the past 30 days like has it brought you more than my lunch Which was okay And yeah, I couldn't I wasn't home so I could a lunch at home and my lunch at home probably cost me three or four five dollars But with that three or four five dollar two of those lunches
Um, they're kind of just passable lunches right now. Okay, forgettable lunches is sleep with me a forgettable part of your life Uh or not and like would would you miss sleep with me if it's gone because if it is continues to be zero out of a hundred people Um Or if it's this like it's a conundrum right, but I don't think it really is. I think it's just a matter of like our brain bots For the one person out there I'm talking to so I don't know if that's you if it's not that's okay You don't need to listen to me right because you get to bend if I can just get this one person 99 other people benefit. That's really the magical side But I'm only talking to you if you're listening and hearing me And you're with me right now To tell you your sport does matter so if that voice is telling you it doesn't matter I am telling you hey your 60 bucks will absolutely Change the future of sleep with me your $7 monthly
Your 14 bucks monthly you $120 your $240 a year You'll be paying for the podcast and you won't have to worry about it being gone Uh your sport will keep it around So if you don't want to lose the show in you're in a place where you could do that. I'm right I don't always make that connection And sometimes they take the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for granted But compared to a piece of art play. I'm going to this weekend What's gonna make my month better Like in a way, I don't know that's that's I guess what I mean like uh I don't know I guess I'm getting off topic as I always to the second objection and maybe this is yours Is not really an objection It's just kind of this thing that happens during the day to a lot of us to it is like I'll do I'll do it later I'll do not right now or Yeah, I want to do it, but I'm going to do it in the future
