Experters spared the cost of public defenders, court costs, incarceration, and continued parole supervision. As the sheriff of Santa Rosa County, Florida says, insert audio here. Or sheriff gradia, Pope County says, insert audio here. You have been warned. Listen at your own risks. Mike? Here we go. We are doing taxpayer release shots because it is Friday, we do these every Friday at 11 a.m. We do these stories because I sincerely believe that we have a God-given right of self-defense. This is not really a second amendment segment, although firearms are often used. This is about your right given due by a child of God to defend yourself or your property or your family from the thugs that would harm you or rob your business. And they get a lot of local coverage, but then it gets buried. And so everyone gets the perception that these don't happen very often.
They happen all the time. Why do we call them taxpayer release shots? Because as the sheriff says, some might break it in your house. You're more than welcome to shoot them in Santa Rosa County. We prefer that you do, actually. Hopefully you'll save taxpayers money. And you save taxpayer money because you don't have a public defender. You don't have incarceration. You don't have trials. You don't have meals. You don't have medications. You don't have, you know, transgender surgeries. You don't have anything like that. So yes. And sometimes they go a little further. I would highly suggest that if a looter breaks into your home, comes into your home while you're there to steal stuff, that you take your gun and you shoot him. You shoot him so that he looks like graded cheese. Because you know what? That's one looter that won't break into anyone else's home. And if more of these stories got out, some of the looters might actually decide, yeah, let's go do something else. I would tell them if you value your life, you probably shouldn't do that in Polk County. Because the people of Polk County like guns, they have guns.
I encourage them to own guns. And they're going to be in their homes tonight where their guns loaded. And if you try to break into their homes to steal, to set fires, I'm highly recommending they blow you back out of the house with their guns. So leave the community alone. And Dragon, just let me call an audible. I'm starting on 925. This is an award winner. A homeowner shoots and kills him in truce, while he's on the phone. Right now Montgomery County detectives are working to figure out a man if a man was justified when he shot and killed a reported home intruder. Now the crime scene is the long river road just outside the town of Pulasville. That's where we joined seven is reporter Kevin Lewis who's been looking into this. Kevin? John Victoria, we're coming to you from one of the more remote parts of Montgomery County. In fact, responding officers tried to see if any department of natural resource units were in this area and could get here first. He needs to cross the burger, but he's suspect he's now in the house.
Shortly after 9 this morning, a man in his 20s called 911 to report someone was breaking into his house. Minutes later, the call taker could hear gunfire. The plane is firing his weapon at the subject down there shouting in the background as well. He needs to be allowed to have more shells or shots in the cause as well. We know so far along going off right now. After killing the reported intruder, the male resident walked to the driveway and waited for police. I'll tell you to be advised that the complainant was alone in the house. The complainant still has a shotgun on the front of the truck, and it's heading outside and be the way for me. The home sits on a large wooded property. There are no trespassing and active shooting range signs posted to a wood infants. There is also a banner reading, birds aren't real. A theory that alleges the government killed all birds during the 20th century and replaced them with surveillance drones. SkyTrek 7 captured this officer canvassing the backyard as crime text photographed the scene. A protect inspection services work van is parked in the home's driveway.
Sevenews contacted the Poolsville based company, which does residential and commercial inspections, but has not heard back. Now Montgomery County property records show that this home is owned by Rob Hopkins, the owner of Protect Inspection Services, has that same name. Detectives have questioned the shooter from the incident earlier today, so far they have not filed charges against that man, but tell us they do not believe the suspect and the man who died today knew each other. We're live in Poolsville. I'm Kevin Lewis. Sevenews. All right, Kevin. Never thought I'd imagine that we would get the bird conspiracy on air, but there you have it. Another award winner, a homeowner shooting kills an intruder. The officers were literally in the neighborhood when shots rang out. According to neighbors, it happened at that building right there in one of the units. This all happened at around 540 last night when people could hear this man was trying to vandalize the cars, and then he went
door to door to try to get inside the homes. They were so fearful that they called 911. One person was on the phone with a dispatcher. When that dispatcher could hear shots rang out, the officers, they scrambled, they ran around trying to figure out where that noise was coming from, where the shots were coming from. Then they went inside the home, and that's when they saw the man in the living room with at least one shot to his body. It was rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, he died at the hospital. Talking to neighbors, they say it was so terrifying. Here's one woman who refused to put her face on camera. She said the man tried to get inside her house. He came back to my front porch and clearly started to try and bring it. Thank goodness my doors were locked because he was messing with the handle. I could see the handle going right and left, kicking my door, screaming. When he realized he couldn't get through my front door, he went back to the side yard, and he was kicking the side gate, trying to get in that way and thank goodness
that was locked. The homeowners actually stayed around and cooperated with investigators. They were not arrested. I actually saw them this morning. They refused to go on camera. Still not known at this particular time. Why that man went into their home, whether or not they knew each other before the shooting, but it appears this investigation is obviously still ongoing and his name not being released at this particular time. They are not searching for any additional suspects. Got more type spray relief shots next. Before you chase the next deal, check whether one already has your name on it. Can you translate that for me? The transcripts see what it says here because I'm having a hard time hearing it too. Hang on. Okay, here we go. Sorry, I have to scroll through a whole bunch because then the other stations do it a thing and they do. Sorry, but I apologize. Michael, I have a very important taxpayer relief shop question for you. Just out of curiosity, what do you call incidences that should be taxpayer shots that end up costing the taxpayer a lot of money? I.e. when you shoot in Ferguson, Missouri, just curious. When you shoot in Ferguson, that which was the one in Ferguson. Michael Brown. But I thought the cop was exonerated in Ferguson.
But that cost a lot of taxpayers money because they had to do a whole bunch of court and well because they sued and they used to spend time with defending the cop and all of that. So if a taxpayer relief shot that we're talking if a homeowner shoots a bad guy that's trying to run into the house, what if the exact opposite of it? That's a good shoot. That's a clean shoot. But there's no, you're not well, but you know, it qualifies, but it did cost. Right. Now I'm going to have to really kind of ponder this for a while. And I don't want to ponder. It's Friday. Who wants to ponder on a Friday? Oh. Oh. Also, if there was a text message come in, Michael, if you don't have any information on what? How about that? We don't, we, we, FCC won't allow us to do it. So we can't. And then on the other text line, sometimes I would rather text personally to drag in.
So I will still continue to use this slide. Have that just text to drag in all you want because I just don't care. Just don't care. That's my relief shots. You could use a taser. You could use your other handgun. If the guy is still coming at you to get your weapon, that is, you know, understandable. Wow. Like, damn. They just shot his dude. He just shot that dude. He asked to be shot. He demanded to be shot. And then he forced us to shoot him. So we obliged him. Back to the, we got some more wordmenters. Homer shoots and kills an intruder. Start with breaking news out of Germantown. A homeowner is suspected of killing an intruder. This happened this evening on Future Accord. Police are now investigating what happened. Fox News, Josh Rosenthal has the very latest. Guys, behind me, this is Future Accord in Germantown. And I want to show you what's going on. Take a look down there. You can see there is still police activity. Then if you come up this way,
you can see there's still some neighbors knowing about trying to figure out what's going on. What's causing all this commotion. And then if you look over here, pass these police vehicles were told that is where this incident took place behind those homes, somewhere, a little ways down there. Here's what we know so far. According to police, they say a 911 call came in around 730. A homeowner said he believed someone was breaking into his home. Police tell us that alleged intruder did enter and they say was shot and killed by the homeowner. Police said that the homeowner is being interviewed by investigators here tonight. And they don't believe there's anyone going threat to the public. We do believe that the intruder was known to the homeowner, but we are not sure how that acquaintance is. I've also heard from a lot of the neighbors out here tonight. Every single one of them said they're a little shaken up and they're shocked that this happened right here. Guys back to you. Not giving legal advice, but listening to that one, I would just say that if I were calling, because I thought somebody was breaking into my house, I would tell them someone's breaking into
my house and I'm scared for my life. Just a little thing I would always add to make sure they understand that. An intruder shot and killed. We turn now to a crime alert after a deadly shooting happened in Miami. A man believed to be an intruder was shot and killed. Local ten's Bret Nees is at the scene with reaction from neighbors. All this happened just steps away from the design district. The home behind me is where the alleged intruder was trying to get into before being shot and killed. And now residents in this area just want some clarity on what exactly happened. A day after an alleged intruder was shot and killed at this Miami home. A lot remains unknown. It happened around 5 a.m. Monday morning. Detective say they found a man in his 40s shot and killed inside the home. Crime scene detectives taped off Northwest Fifth Avenue in Northwest 46th Street as neighbors like Judy Winter watch. Let's adjust a random invasion or was there a reason behind them. Please, we're seeing going door to door in search of surveillance video and talking to any witnesses
who may provide clues in their investigation. They also took pictures of the evidence for their case. The body removed by the medical examiner hours after the shooting took place. Neighbors say they are scared and want to know exactly what happened. Anybody living around here would like to get some questions answered. We have one person at the station that we are speaking with that is related to the incident. There's a lot that we so don't know. We're going to find out from police whether that person that they were questioning is the shooter, the homeowner, are they going to face any charges? And who is this alleged intruder? We'll stay on top of it and keep you updated. In Miami, Brett needs local ten news. I don't know why this would remind me of this comment, but for anybody who's listening to these and you don't like them, people don't want to do this. They do this because they need to protect themselves and their families because the aftermath will. You've got to clean up the mess and nobody wants to do that. Morning, Brownie. Hey, man, I love the Genoa idea. The only thing is
I would like to be the first gober to throw my number in a hat, 2199, to be standing with you on that tower because I want to be able to see the expression on your face when you fall up when you gaze out at the horizon. See, we wanted to go because we wanted to see you as you fell, I mean, gazed at the horizon. I do have a quick thing to say because that's one of our favorite truckers. We do have another favorite trucker who sent us a... Well, you say that, but I just... It's just words. Okay, good. That's why it's wordy. Doesn't mean what you think it means. Okay, all right. But he did send a video of him leaving a talk back. Or at least we can assume that it's a video of him leaving a talk back because we can't see it. I tried to... From my snout down low to the
lower computer, it just says error and please try again in a little while. So apparently even his videos need penicillin. Well, I thought I might try to do is try when I get home. Off the iHeart Interwebs and see if I can't get it download on one of my... It still has a firewall. Still has a firewall. It still has a condom, you might say. Right. Yeah. Yeah. And we also got another one. It wasn't a video, but it was a photo. Did you see that one? Uh-oh. Well, you didn't... You missed that one recently? Maybe you just sent it to me. Maybe he doesn't have your... Let's see. Yes, John. Oh, he just sent it to me. Here's where I make my talk back. The Toyota assembly final line in Georgetown, Kentucky. And there's a picture of him standing as one of the cars is going through the flight. That's kind of neat. Isn't that cool? That's really cool. Oh, have I ever taken it back? It is a video.
I see, like I said, the trucker sent a video that's... Oh, listen. It's infected. That's why it's always so noisy. Oh, forward that to you. Okay. Yeah, I should be cool. You should put that up on... Let's see. What's your name again? Uh-DRA Dragon. And there's Sandin. There you go. Yeah, you might put that up on the... Like I said, go here.com. Michael says, go here. That's pretty cool. I thought it was just a photo, but then I saw the little... I saw the little arrow and realized the error of my ways regarding the arrow. That arrow on the arrow. We're doing taxpayer release shots. Hey, everyone. Recently, lady called 911 here in Penelope County because someone was breaking into her house. There's some guy. He came to my door, but he went into my neighbor's house. This dispatcher gave excellent advice. I'd like you to take a moment and listen to it.
You came into my garage. He's trying to get my bike worked. Okay. Lock your doors. Keep them all locked. Do you have a firearm with you? I do. He's in my garage. He's trying to get in. Go get that firearm. I haven't done it. I'll kill you. Leave! Leave him the garage. While the incident was still going on, Sergeant was monitoring the radio traffic, and this is his direction that he gave. Advise that RPF is trying to get in the house to have the right to use force. I couldn't be more in agreement with the direction my dispatcher gave and what the Sergeant gave over the radio. Remember, if you want personal protection, buy a gun, learn how to use it, learn when you can use it. I'm Sheriff Ross people, and I approve of this message. I approve of that message too. This next was also a word winner, although it is not yet fatal. Breaking news out of Montrose were a police are investigating a possible home invasion and shooting. This all unfolding of Hawthorne near Bagby. HPD says they were called to the home around one o'clock this afternoon. Police on the scene say it appears a stranger broke into the home of an
elderly man. The homeowner, according to police, asked them to stop and leave, but when that didn't happen, the homeowner allegedly shot the intruder. The suspect was taken to the hospital and critical condition. I just want to pause and say it's an elderly homeowner and he was polite. Would you please leave? No. Okay, come on. Yeah. Breaking news out of Montrose were a police are investigating a possible home invasion and shooting. This all unfolding of Hawthorne near Bagby. Did you mean to do that or is that one of the double click problems? No.
I don't know what happened to that one. Uh-huh. Uh-huh. Oh, you know what it is? You didn't double click. No. You just quit. I mean, that's the end of it. Cut off short. That was the same way you just played dingbat. Thank you. Breaking news out of Montrose were a police are investigating a possible home invasion and shooting. Police on the scene say it appears a stranger broke into the home of an elderly man. The homeowner, according to police, asked them to stop and leave, but when that didn't happen, the homeowner allegedly shot it. It is the same, but I thought they were going to do more of the story. I thought that was, I mean, that was the end of the story. You want to play it? It's very tiny. It's eight seconds long. You want to hear the third time, shut up. You're going to hear it again if you don't shut up. While they had a great story there, they didn't finish it. Done people down in Harris County, Texas, Houston, and
why we got another award winner. This one is a wanted murder suspect. I'm sorry, I should not laugh. Hey, they're welcome back. Quarter after the hour right now developing here. A man wanted and a shooting at Green Hills Mall died last night. This is while officers were trying to arrest him in Atlanta. You might remember police were looking for Genesis Denton. After a shooting in the mall parking lot, this was back in February of last year. Denton fired at two people who allegedly robbed him. Those two people drove away, but crashed their car. One of them died. Denton was wanted for questioning, but Metro police and not been able to track him down. Now, according to Georgia investigators, Denton was wanted on a murder warrant from another state. They were serving an arrest warrant when he climbed out of an apartment balcony and fell. I'm just a little check-in. I make sure and again, that was only 39 seconds long. That was it. Like, you fell from the balcony, and that's where you stop. Did he splatter? Did he splatter? Did he jump up and run? I'll be following
a car. Roof of a car. Gosh, we got to talk to our producer about it since he's in. I want complete stories. Lord, all right. Let's see. Here we go. A barricaded suspect shoots at the polpo. Let me just say before even here at, let me check. Oh, okay, this is all right. One that doesn't need to be this long, but is this long? Starting with breaking news, the sound of gunfire in a Yolo County neighborhood under a shelter-in-place order right now. We are still working to find out who fired those shots you just heard, but we do know that police killed an armed man they were in a standoff with. And this is what a neighbor told us he heard. There was two sets of shots. There was about 40 shots at first, and then after that there was maybe about another 50, about five minutes later. Woodland police confirmed the suspect was shot and killed by their officers.
Thanks for joining us here for our News at 6. I'm Edie Lambert. I'm Gullston Dart. Now, while they say the suspect is dead, and there's no threat to the public, that shelter order has not yet been lifted. So again, this is happening in Woodland along Alice East Main in Johnston streets. KCRE 3's Denzen Cortez has been out there in that neighborhood talking to police and also neighbors in that area. Denzen? Yeah, Gullston. I actually spoke with the individual that captured that video that we showed. He's told me that he's getting home from work immediately called from his wife that told him to immediately come home. And that's when he was in the center of that and captured it on his phone. But again, to tell our viewers, there is no threat to the public at this time. But still a massive police presence behind me here on John Sins Street as they try to picture and put together exactly what led up to the shooting and this two hour standoff. We do know that officers were called to Alice Street and John Sins Street with reports of shots fired saying that there was a man firing a
gun from a backyard that brought out their SWOT and crisis negotiators for about two hours. And then at some point, police say officers open fire striking the man. The big question here is who shot first. They told us that it is still early into their investigation. He died despite life-saving efforts. But police have not yet said what led up to officers opening fire or what the man had been exactly shooting at. As far as the public safety alert, we did receive one when we arrived on scene around 4 p.m. I did ask the officers if that is still in place. He tells me that at this time it is still, but they expect for that to be removed soon. But investigators are going to be here throughout the night kind of piecing up exactly what led up. They're going to be looking through body cam footage. Still agencies behind me there are the animal services as well as woodland police, but no longer a threat to the public. We gather more information to speak with more neighbors. We'll be sure to share it with you guys on kcarray.com. I'm sending it back to you guys.
When they're barricaded are they ever really a threat to the public? And why do we have to hear that? All right, let's see. The next one. Well, typical. Take a guess. Allens get to that breaking news from Arlington. One person dead there after shooting involving a police officer. Investigators have been on the scene for several hours in east Arlington. This is near Pioneer Parkway and New York Avenue. Richard Solomon is standing by with more on what we've learned overnight. We had the amount Arlington police say they've been here since 10 30 last night. That is when the initial call came in and we spoke with the lieutenant here on scene. He told us when they got here, they found a man holding a knife. I want to show you a little bit of what's happening behind me right now. Obviously it's hard to see because it is early in the morning. They don't have a lot of their lights on. But crime scene you that they just got here about an hour ago. We've seen officers go in and out of a house here on the left side. Police say the initial call came from someone else that was inside of the home. And once they got
here, they found that man with a knife and the lieutenant on scene tells me one officer did fire so they're weapons at that man. And they striking him. Police tell us that they did try to recessitate that individual, but he was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries. At this time, police say no officers were injured. They also tell us the other person inside of the home was not injured as well. Obviously they're still processing a lot of some things. We don't know at this time the identity of that person. But of course we'll give you more information once we learn it from police. So we'll give you a live update later on this morning at six with the latest. For now, live in Arlington, I'm Richard Solomon back to you guys in studio. Back to you guys, knife. Bring a knife to a gunfight. Yeah. Let's see the next one. Well, if you bring a gun to a gunfight at around 9.33 pm, the male resident exits the residents with a
shotgun at which point officers, the two officers that were there exchange gun or shot their weapons service weapons at that individual. Let's start this over again because he's having a little trouble conveying the story. So I'll see if I can't helping by just starting it over because maybe the machine's not the computer's not playing it right. He's kind of stumbling around like looking for his at around 9.33 pm. The male resident exits the residents with a shotgun at which point officers, the two officers that were there exchange gun or shot their reserve weapons service weapons. I have that individual. The individual is 41 year old Keaton Douscher of Sebastian. Life saving measures were provided, but unfortunately he did pass away at the same. Okay, that's the same. Our officers were not injured and at this point they've been placed on
paid administrative leave, which is standard protocol for incidents like this with us. There's no threat to the public at this time. There's an air cancel. I think this was Kenan's, um, this was his audition tape that he, I'm just hoping he's out there that that was his audition tape that he sent in to I Heart. He tried to be a news reporter because I mean that sounded kind of like him, didn't it kind of well, you know, the guy, but here's the lesson. The sheriff points it out that if you do what this guy did, I know in life we teach people stuff. We tell people if you put your hand on something hot, your hand's going to burn. If you play with glass, it's going to cut. If you point a gun at a pass through deputy, you're going to get shot. And that's what happened today. There's no apologies. There's no sympathy. He got shot. He got shot. A man shot and killed by a real quick. I'm sorry. Yes. There's a text message to come as Michael.
Yes, someone that's barricaded can be a threat to the public. Someone barricaded can still shoot through a window and hit a passerby. Well, I stand corrected. Yes. All right. I think it's more like a guy animal house. There are things calm. Stay calm. There are things okay. And things cool here. That's all they're trying to say. They're trying to calm down their audience. I was seeing playing clothes cop involved in the next one. Let's see what happens. It's within the moments before the deadly officer involved shooting caught on camera. You can see a man in green body slams a law enforcement agent who's dressed in red. He's wearing as the man. So it's like at a Mexican restaurant. You went red, chili green, chili, where you at Christmas? We got we got the guy in the red. We got the cop in the green or we got the guy in the green and the cop in the red. I don't know. Agent from the Florida Department of law enforcement to the ground in the middle of traffic.
Then you came to know why can't we ever see that dragon? Why can't we be on the 25 and see cops rushing somebody to the ground? Oh, why not? Here a single gunshot. The Miami-Date Sheriff's Office says 28 year old Daniel Shand was killed. The video does not show how the incident began. Provo police say this happened late last night near 2230 North University Parkway. The alleged victim reportedly told police the suspect had a gun. Mr. reporter, I can strange today. Please, shouldn't kill a man who, well, once again, man was shot and killed by police in Lansing this morning and we're working to learn more about what led up to the shooting. Welcome back to CBS News Detroit at five. I'm Terry Shredding. I'm Shayna Humphreys. Police held a press conference this afternoon and our L Myers was there. According to Lansing police around 420 in the morning on Wednesday, police responded to the 600 block of East Rally Road. They received calls about a man armed with a handgun who was banging on doors and windows in the neighborhood. After officers arrived on scene and engaged with the man, LPD Chief Rob Backus says the man threatened to harm officers and himself. At this point, officers attempted to use a less lethal force tactic and taze the subject.
Chief Backus says the man fled and then turned on officers and pointed his gun at them. The man whose identity has not been released was shot and killed on scene. Well, I think we have to look at the idea that something had a gun pointed to their head. So we know that there's a mental health component to this. In terms of what the background is, we don't know that. No other Lansing residents or officers were entered this morning and the investigation into the incident has been turned over to the Michigan State police. I talked with MSP on Wednesday morning and Lieutenant Renee Gonzalez tells me the department's special investigation section will take the lead, which is standard protocol when an agency's officers are involved in a shooting. When that is complete, their findings will be sent to the prosecutor's office or the attorney general for review reporting in Lansing. I'm L Myers CBS News Detroit. And one last one. Take a listen. Approximately 9-3 this morning we had deputies from our court services levy crew at a nearby location conducting a pre-scheduled eviction and those deputies were notified by a patron of the Chevron gas station that there was possibly a theft taking place. The deputies approached the gas station at which time they were charged by a male adult who was armed with a knife and that's what time we had a deputies while shooting her. Now authorities say they are still talking to witnesses and they're also looking for surveillance video. They also tell us the deputy involved in the shooting was not hurt.
