This is the first day we've been in our new time slot. We're getting going a little bit earlier now. We'll start it too and we'll take it through until five o'clock. But some things have not changed. And that includes Carlis Auer. And Carl, thank you for making it in at four as opposed to five.

2:02Was there ever a question that you were going to make it? There wasn't a question that I was going to make it. What would have happened is I would have forgotten. No, no, I don't want to hear that. But coupe saved me. We all had our support circle. It's a good place. Nice. So we're here. We may be an hour earlier, but we're still here to talk about football. So we're going to get that taken care of. So we got a lot of stuff to get into in this hour. First of all, coupe or final hour now begins with a financial report. Hey, isn't that weird? So that you're ready for it? I'm ready, man. Let's have it. So Carl gets to give some strings from the market. Yeah. So here we go. We'll be able to get his take on the market, right? So it was green all across the board today. NASDAQ jumping 2% to a record close, void by a surge in AI stocks, as well as cooling oil stocks in yield. So the Dow was up 7.01% today, gaining 366 points, 52,048 at the close.

3:06S&P 500 had a good day up 1.5% gained 114 points, 7764 at 4 o'clock Eastern. NASDAQ, as I mentioned, up nearly 2.3%. Gain just shy of 600 points today. NASDAQ closing at 27122. Among stocks related to West Virginia, that were big percentage gainers or losers. Well, let me tell you, first meta today was was up. Oh, just under 12% a big day for meta. Other stocks, Amazon was up 2% gain $4.98 to 5869 at the close today. Some of the heavy industry stocks, though, with the other way. CSX was down 2.4% lost a buck 1445 97 at the close today. A Google up almost 2% gained $6.60, 356. 14 at the close today, Exxon was down 2.8%, lost $4.51, 159.03, Exxon trading under 160 bucks for the first time in a while.

4:09In the energy space today, oil down 4.8%, lost $4.77, WTI closing on the 9X at $95.53 natural gas was down. Exxon continuing to trade down 8 cents, going at $2.83 per unit. Bitcoin today up almost 7%. Gaining a little more than 5600 bucks. Bitcoin going at 86,700 at the moment. Bitcoin trades 24 hours a day. And in the commodities, gold today down to 8.10.1%. Lost $35.10 an ounce, the $4363. Silver was also down today losing 4.10% losing $0.25 at $66.79 per ounce. Here's our question of the day. Question of the day, WKR at 2.5 point favorite over old, almost 8 in next Saturday nights, big 12 opener in Morgantown. Question of the day.

Today was the Sunbelt Conference teleconference. So we'll hear a little bit of Tony Gibson after Marshall's win. Another gut check on the road at Missouri State on Saturday. But Carl, let me ask you, first of all, what's your take on this WVU win against Virginia? Are you buying shares, and as I talk about the stock report, are you buying shares in WVU right now? What do you think? I'm going to say, I'm going to say yes. I actually think that they actually could be better. And again, I think the offensive side of the ball, I think is something that is really special. And so I think that takes a little bit of pressure off the defense. If they can just play some defense, I think the offense is going to be very, very effective with the head coach. Yeah. And offensively, West Virginia got a great game from Michael Hawkins.

7:10He was named, as I said, at the top of the hour as the big 12 offensive player of the week. His numbers in this game were excellent. He accounted for all five touchdowns. It was a very pat whitish performance, frankly. He crossed the goal on runs of 13, 15 and five yards. And through a pair of touchdown passes to DJFs, 29 yards and 21 yards. So it's one game. One game. The AP Top 25 came out on Sunday. And I was really surprised at how much love West Virginia got. It didn't finish in the top 25, but it came darn close. So there's a lot of voters who are thinking about West Virginia. You know, I think there's a probably, if West Virginia beats Oklahoma state, they'll be ranked in the AP Top 25 for the first time since Will Greer left in 2018. And he's retired.

8:11It's been a while. It's been a while. You know, as a former player and coach, what do you, what do you thoughts on neutral site games? Do you like them? Is it a road game for both teams? Yeah. The way that you approach it is it's just an away game. You know, there's all the hype about it's mutual. Nobody's got a home game. Everybody's got to travel. But at the end of the day, it's just an away game for the team. You don't even, don't even put any thought process. So we're playing somewhere where we don't know. Because you do that every away game. So you just, you just take that approach to it and not even worry about it. I want to ask you also, you played at Marshall. You're still very close to the Marshall situation. You know, these last two weeks for Marshall, stopping a two point conversion attempt in a home opener against middle Tennessee state, then this has happened with not just Tony Gibson, but dabbing with Charles Huff as well. Marshall will have a tendency to open up a lead.

9:11And then for whatever reason, it takes their collective foot off the gas and they've got a hold on late, but they were able to do that holding, holding Missouri state out of the end zone on a fourth and goal at the end of the ball game. They win a game on the road. So you're looking at it and you're thinking, you know, Marshall's given up a ton of yards, but they've managed to get stops when they needed them and they've won two tough games back to back. Man, sometimes it just, you gotta learn to win, right? Yes. And I think when you can win those types of games, when you're behind, you can look at your players and say, hey, this is what we do. Let's just keep playing and eventually it's going to work its way out and we'll win this ball game at the end and the players buy into it. Yeah, I'm just looking at the situation now. If from Marshall's schedule, they play Gardner Web this week. They should win this game. That's a game they should win. Then they go on the road to James Madison.

10:13James Madison is picked to win the Sunbelt. I watched quite a bit of the second half of James Madison's game against San Diego State late, late, late on Saturday night. Billy Napier, the former coach of Florida is now the coach of JMU. He's got him playing pretty good ball. I don't know what's going to happen on the trip to Harrisonburg. Marshall has won there in the past. Yes. They beat Signetti there in the past. I would say that depending on what happens with James Madison this week, I don't think the line's going to change no matter what Marshall does against Gardner Web. But I think that there's a real good chance Marshall's going to be a double-digit underdog at JMU. Here's my fear. If they win this week, I think there's a confidence that you take into that next week game and maybe you don't play as well. That doesn't necessarily make sense.

11:13You take that loss. If you get that loss, if you lose, which everybody would hate. But now you're going into that next game with some fire with you because you know how important this game is. It's a win-loss kind of thing of how you want to play. Nobody wants to absolutely just try to lose. But if you do lose, there's a whole lot of motivation to turn around and want to win this next week, the following week. I'm just looking at the situation where it'll, let's just assume Marshall wins this game in his Gardner Web. You're allowed to use one of these types of games towards bowl eligibility. They're halfway to bowl eligibility. And they would be exactly where everybody thought they would be at this point of the season. Losing at Penn State, beating middle Tennessee, beating Missouri State on the road where they were favored and beating Gardner Web. The wins wouldn't exactly be pretty, but you're exactly where you're supposed to be. That's good.

12:17I would guess. We're coming up, we're going to have to take a break here and play in our out in just a couple of minutes in the four o'clock hour for the first time since the old days of the show. But I did want to ask you the Vikings beat the Bears. Nine to three yesterday. The week after the Bears had scored 59 points. Okay. How many games do you think you played with the Vikings? Were you one a divisional game on the road without scoring a touchdown? Ah, guys, I would probably say not one. I know. I would think not one. I mean, that's a hard, that's a hard thing to do. A real hard thing. A real hard thing to do. I mean, it just seems hard to believe that there would be an NFL. After what we saw in the first couple of weeks of the season, the first weekend, especially, I mean, we're talking about the Bearscourt 59 points in one game, right? That you could win a game in the NFL without a touchdown. You scored those many, that many points. And then you come back and basically score nothing,

13:25really. I mean, that's crazy. How about the fact that the Vikings have managed to win their first two games without Carla Murray? That's a big deal too. Bigger than maybe a lot of people may think. And Tyson Beigeant looks like he's going to play. He's going to be the quarterback for the Bears. At least this week, he came in in relief of Caleb Williams, who went out in the fourth quarter of the game yesterday at Soldier Field and nearly won the game. Yeah. Would you see that game? Yes. Yeah. Well, it was getting pretty tight at the end. Yes. Absolutely. And the winning those kinds of games early is a huge advantage because of the confidence that you get no matter what the situation is being down or whatever games being close, you got a chance to win it. Yeah. So Beigeant who played in the Eastern Pan panel and was a start shepherd getting a chance to be a quarterback of the Bears and getting a chance to operate it quarterback with one of the best

We now know the name of a man struck and killed by a train on Sunday afternoon. 38 year old Alex Thompson was hit by a CSX train near Chesterfield Avenue in South Park Road at around 3 o'clock in Cana city. Charleston police released Thompson's name this afternoon. Police say their condolences are with Thompson's family and loved ones during this time. It's easier to get to the Buffalo Bridge in Putnam County. The state division of highways has eliminated a dog leg turn and made it a straight shot from US Route 35 to Route 817. Putnam County Sheriff Bobby Eglton says construction to improve safety is a welcome change. Well, anything they do down there can help. You know, that's around 35 is a dangerous area anyway. We have extra patrols. And you know, since I've been to sheriff, we've always taken that as a proud warning. But anything they could do down there to make traffic flow a little better, is a safe to concern that we're thankful that they finished that up. West Virginia's tourism numbers continue to grow. Governor Patrick Moore says more than $9 billion

26:16came in last year through tourism. He says up next investment in various state parks. That means investing and expanding in tourism and expanding in our state parks as well. We need to keep pace with all of our other competitors in order to make sure that West Virginia's numbers next year or the year after reflect of the beauty and the people of our state. So he was in the league for a long time and he won a title with the Celtics in 2008. But he had problems when in big games, when in big games. He's the only coach in NBA history to lead three separate

29:24teams that blew three one leads in the playoffs. All right, okay. The 2003 magic, the 2015 Clippers and the 2020 Clippers. In game sevens, Doc Rivers was six and 10 and had multiple series that he lost three to two. Okay, so I just... I've been watching ball a long time and, you know, I've rooted for Doc Rivers in the past, but now he's retired and I don't have to go through this any longer. He lost a lot of big games, a lot of big games. So is that the example or a an example of great notable name? Very notable, but not necessarily deserving of it because of the wins and losses that you've actually had. Here's the other thing. You got to get to the

30:24playoffs, right? Yeah. If you've coached over 2,000 games and you've won almost 1,200 games, you got to get something on the ball. Okay. But I'm just saying that when it comes to like winning clutch games, he just didn't just wasn't it. Just wasn't it. I'm going to talk about high school football for a minute and then we're going to hear a little bit of WVU football, a basketball coach, Ross Hodge practice started today and he had some scheduled comments. The South Charleston GW game on Friday night, probably one of the biggest games that South Charleston had since Donnie May's left and went to Hurricane, right? Yes. So we're talking, you know, four or five years. In the game, South Charleston is driving, they're getting, they're lined up for a field goal. They get the field goal blocked, return for a touchdown and then GW on the ensuing kickoff, on sidekick, recovers, drives for a touchdown, games essentially. Oh, yeah. Okay. You've been a coach,

31:31you've been a player. Steve Edwards Jr. I love the call for the on sidekick. You've got the team reeling, right? That's like a 10 points swing. You think you're, you think you're going to score three and instead you get nothing in the other team scores a touchdown. So, you know, why kick the ball deep? You've got them reeling. I love that call for an on sidekick early in the game. I was, I was at the game and after the touchdown, I was like, oh gosh. And then, but nowhere in my mind, what I've thought that they would on sidekick that. And then when they on sidekick that and got it, I was like, oh gosh, only Steve Edwards would do that. Because I think he, he understands the, the, the, as a former quarterback and a good one and a smart football brain. No one's looking for that. It's such a big game. You're not going to take

32:33that chance to give South Charleston that field position. And they do it and they get it and they go down in school. I know. It's so crazy. When you're thinking of it from the, the South Charleston coaches group, it's like feel goal team on what? But you know, extra point defense, you know, special teams unit. What a perfect time for a perfect time for an on sidekick. Yeah. Coop, when you were, when you were, you know, knocking guys down as an offensive lineman for Roger Jefferson at Capitol. Do you remember Roger Jefferson ever pulling an on sidekick? Yeah. Man, now that I can remember, I mean, when the, the brief time I was at Capitol, they law or they won all but two games. So there wasn't many opportunity to need to have an on sidekick. Exactly. Yeah. So exactly that I'm aware of. I can't remember anything. Yeah. There's no need to do that, right? Right. If you feel like you have superior talent, just go ahead and kick that ball deal. And just like, yeah, play ball. I mean, what is the, what are the chances when you have a superior team at somebody's going to be able to put a drive together 10, 12, 14 plays against your

33:37defense and score? And especially in a big game like that. You how? I mean, it's no way you're going to kick an on sidekick against me because this is a big game. You don't want to give me field position because you know I can score on you. That's right. That's exactly right. So and I'm guessing also that that that touchdown after the on sidekick basically took the crowd out of the game, right? Just deflated the crowd. I wasn't at the game. I saw I was at the game and there were people around and they were not happy with. They were not happy about that. That situation right there was not a good one for for the fan base. For sure. I had just kind of finished up our what you would call the first official day of practice, um, but really more than anything. I think nowadays it's just a kind of a time stamp, time marker for the time period of the season getting

36:48closer to it than a, than a true first day of practice. We've, we've had lots of practices. So, but it does mean that the regular season is getting closer. So, uh, you know, excited, excited about that and uh, looking forward to, uh, to to getting going. Ross, we're having worked with them for a couple months now and gives just overview. What do you think of the group that you've got? Yeah. It's um, you know, I can say it's got a great blend of youthful excitement and uh, still have some experienced players and so that combination, um, you know, lends itself to a lot of learning, um, on all fronts, but uh, you know, also some, some maturity to help those young guys along the way and it's been awesome to see those guys really pour into those young players and help them along the way while still trying to learn some things

37:53themselves. We didn't see mode of day field. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Nothing that uh, nothing that should keep him out, uh, long term. How do you feel about Brennan and he goes through that whole process to try to get us fit here? How do you feel as the season draws here? Um, just, just like what do you mean? Like as him joining the team, how do you feel about that process? Yeah. I mean, uh, the blessing part of uh, his situation has been able to be a full participant in practice, Javan and he both. So, um, I think where you could really run into some challenges if they weren't able to practice at all and then you were regardless of what was happening with their current situations from an eligibility standpoint, if they were, you know, on the practice floor on a Monday and then Tuesday off the practice floor. And so, um, the fact that they've, uh, been able to be kind of full participants and they have no restrictions on that regard, at least allows you to

38:59integrate them into what's happening and you're still a little bit of ways away from obviously playing games and you'll kind of have to, um, you know, you'll have to, uh, be adaptable and flexible.
