ArmaniTalks Podcast — What are Movie Snobs?. Machine-transcribed; use the interactive transcript above to jump the player to any line.
Movie Snops. No matter what field you look at, you'll always find Snops. A snob is someone who knows a little too much for their own good. They read all the books, memorize all the facts, and stick their noses in the air. But along the way, they lose their common sense. I saw a great example of this recently. There's an actress named Indy Navaretti. After a big performance and obsession, she started blowing up in Hollywood. Suddenly, rumors started spreading that she had a big choice to make. She could start next to Leonardo DiCaprio in a movie called Heat 2. Or she could play Rogue in the new Marvel X-Men movies. She picked X-Men. Right away, the movie snops got mad. How could she pick Silly Superhero Brainwrot over a deep movie with Leonardo DiCaprio? When I heard people whining about this, I thought it was a joke. From a business standpoint, picking X-Men is clearly the better choice. If you get cast in Marvel as a major character, you hit the jackpot. You get locked into multiple blockbuster movies. You get seen by millions of kids and adults worldwide. You might get
your own spin-off show, and you make real money. It sets up your entire career for the next 10 years. I'll be honest, I never heard of Heat 1, so I don't see the hype about Heat 2. But I do see the argument about acting with a star-studded cast and being part of a movie with a deep story. This might be one of those manufactured debates. I wonder if a lot of people are really upset with her or if it's a handful of people whose voices got amplified. Regardless, the snops get upset because they know too much for their own good. They only care about looking artsy, so they ignore how the cinematic universe really works. Armani talks.
