Stop Cooking The Entire Time When You're Hosting a Party!!

About this episode

In today’s world, I share the most important job for the host of a party. I hate it when a host just cooks the entire time. I share how you should behave instead. Welcome to the Romani Talks podcast, a mere host, or Romani Talks. In this podcast, I'm helping you level up your five soft skills, public speaking, story telling, social dynamics, emotional intelligence, creativity, five soft skills, pretty good to change your life forever, skyrocket your confidence along the way. In today's episode, I'm entering the land of social skills, and I'm going to be talking about an important task for the host. There's been a couple of parties I've been to, where the host is just cooking the entire time, and doing a bunch of chores, and they're not engaging with the guests. This pisses me off. I recall one of these recent parties I went to, the guy, the host, he was cutting this piece of cake, and he was so focused on cutting this cake that I went to him. I tried to talk to him, and he would barely even acknowledge me. He's over here giving me one word it answers, and just focusing on the cake. I drove really far to see him, and he did not even give his guest any attention.

That is not good. You as a host, your goal is to turn data points into information, words into a sentence. So for example, if I said something like car elephant mirror, that's just a bunch of random data points, but if I said something like, I drove my car and saw an elephant in my mirror, that's a completely different output. It's a sentence, it's information, and that's what you need to do with your guests. Your guests are just data points, they're just hanging around. It's your job as the host to turn them into information, into sentences, and you do that by creating conversation with them. Having them create conversation with one another, playing games. This is how you be a good host, not just cook the entire time. So hopefully the next time you're doing a party, you're doing a great job.

Don't just leave your guests hanging, don't just focus on a cake, focus on your guests, make sure that they have a great time, and you do that by turning the random words into a sentence.
