Pop art and New York share a special relationship. The Guggenheim was particularly important to the evolution of the genre in the city, when a British curator organized the first museum presentation of Pop art in New York in 1963. This summer, the Guggenheim is exploring the Pop art in its collection with a new exhibit, Guggenheim Pop: 1960 to Now, featuring the work of 29 artists who engaged in Pop art, from the past to the present. Guggenheim curator Lauren Hinkson discusses the show and the unique artistic signatures of Pop.
