ArmaniTalks Podcast — p1 - Two Dads, Two Strategies. Machine-transcribed; use the interactive transcript above to jump the player to any line.
0:00who dads two strategies. I was at a dinner party a while ago and sitting at a table full of fathers. Since I don't have kids yet, they all started joking around and giving me advice on why I should start a family. As the night went on, the joke stopped. The dads started sharing their different philosophies. I noticed two types of parents that couldn't be more different. One guy was firm. He told us he didn't believe in gentle parenting at all. He believes them being a strict boss from the very beginning. At the party, he almost never knew where his kid was. He just assumed someone else was keeping an eye on him. To him, parenting seemed to be about rules and making sure the kid was independent as fast as possible. Then there was another dad who was the exact opposite. He had a three-year-old who was old enough to walk, but his dad would also pick him up and hold him. The kid spent the whole party sleeping on his dad's shoulder. I thought it was weird to carry a big kid like that. One dad focused on discipline and letting the kid handle themselves. The other dad focused on affection and being a safety net.
1:03It was interesting to see how differently two people approach the same job, or money talks.
