Ken's Real Beef With Michigan's Holier-Than-Thou Act

I can tell why everybody else does so. And it's not like an Ohio State thing. Ohio State fans hate Michigan because they're a Ohio State fan. I will tell you it is very annoying to see it to see a program. Do what they've done over the last five years, which is pull out all the stops.

1:01Act like every CD college football program that ever existed, whether it be in the south, whether it be in Columbus, whether it be anywhere, right? Anytime, you always get this like anytime they get in any hot water, they just completely wash their hands of their football program. It's just not, it's not as important to us as it is to you. You know, we have such a great business school and a law school and you roobs down there. You really don't. We have such higher admission standards and you see, we still care about academics up here in Ann Arbor and you don't. What was that because you got caught stealing signs? Is that it? Is that because of all the impropriety that's happened? Wait, good God, you take a look at all of it. Harbaugh, Steyans, manual, more for crying out a lot. And then like it was, I don't care what anybody says, it's unbecoming and I really sincerely do not think it'll hire state fan or a group of Ohio state fans or the stadium.

2:05If you had to pull off some miracle to beat Western Michigan, I don't think you guys are rushing the field. I think you guys are looking at Ryan Day going, what the F have you done this afternoon? There's no chance. He would have run. There's no chance. There's no chance. And I know that it was a wild play and I think some people would go, thank God we want it again. Ryan, what the bleep are you doing? And then when Michigan does it, well, you guys just, you need football. We don't need football here. And I got to tell you, I'd be a little bit annoyed. I'd be a little bit annoyed. I'm not even a Michigan fan. I'm not even a Ohio state fan. Little annoyed. Little annoyed right here that's like, yeah, you care about football. You care a lot about it. You went and went through everything you've gone through over the last five years and really your entire history had you not cared about football. Don't care about it like more than anything in the world. And for me, the difference was when Michigan won their national championship,

3:06who's their quarterback again? Good even land on a race. Jay McCarthy. Couldn't even land her roster. We talk about. I mean, he couldn't even, he's like the worst quarterback. I remember ever winning an national championship. Don't make me start to count, make comparisons here because I don't want to start taking swings at guys who we've had on the station and in the station and on the show and I didn't defend Will Howard. Like I didn't think Will Howard was going to have a great NFL career. Like they were insistent that this was going to be a good quarterback. Anyway, I heard from Michigan fans. I hadn't heard from him in a decade. And then that's all I did was hear from Michigan fans every day, every day. It's like when we won the national championship, I didn't, I wasn't talking to Michigan fans. I was talking to the nation because we're a national program. I was, I was going after the SEC. I didn't go after Michigan fans and you know, Michigan got one, you know, we have three. You got one, you know, since I was on campus at Ohio State and I'm still hearing about it. Even though it is like the most contested national championship I have heard because of the entire saga that led up to it.

4:11But like when I do, I do pick up an ownership from Ohio State fans over their scandals that I just don't from the Chim trust will stand on. Yeah. Like how was I at the time? It was a big deal and had he and not had not told the truth and maybe it would have been a little bit different. You could always look at a well. It got a serve in Meyer and we've held ourselves to a different standard ever since. But when I look at like Ohio State, it's like, yeah, you know what? Yeah. Like when we have, who am I thinking of? Who's a running back who used to come in here? Why am I drawing a blank? He knew wells. No, not being well. Jonathan Wells. John, John, John, John, John, John, John, John, John, John, John, John, John, I had a toll. I mean, he was in here too. Yeah. What else is he when I was having this zero this morning, when Jonathan would come in here and he would just look at us like we're the biggest city. It's a world and we're like, well, we're not on video. You got to say it, John, because it was like, hey, do you guys get cars? Do you guys get leases? You guys get this and that and he's like, come on. And it's like, yeah, yeah. And that's okay. Now I look back on it. It's like, well, yeah,

5:13it is what it is. You're trying to win football, championship. You're trying to compete at a high level. You know the SEC is doing it. Okay. That was the whole parking lot full of challengers and chargers back in the day. Ohio State, when I was covering football there, I saw the cars. Yeah. And whenever I would bring it up to people, they'd be like, no, no, you don't understand. No, they got to pay these loans back. Okay. Whatever. I like, can't you guys just enjoy our success and not have to lie to yourself? But like, I do get like, and maybe just because I'm friends with you, it's just like, you guys like kind of weak and a nod at it. And it was always like, we're above the fray. We're missing it. I'm like, no, Notre Dame did the same thing. You know, you know, they did do something. You're right about that. Couldn't win a national championship. So then they had to go to academics. They had to go to we're doing it the right way. And then you hired Brian Kelly. See, and I actually do like Notre Dame. So that's, but I have to admit, that's the truth. That is the truth. I mean, there's an entire book when Louis Holtz was the head coach under the tarnished dome. Yeah, that's state. You could tell Notre Dame was shady because they were red under the they were up for national championships. I never read it. He read it at the library

6:16when you guys stopped. Well, did you think was my reading material? I'm not supposed to tell that story anymore. It upset somebody I was at the table with. Anyway, uh, yeah. So when I look at Michigan, I'm like, yeah, just just admit you care. It's okay to admit you care. And it's the biggest thing you got going. It's football. It's Michigan football. You have a long story to history. And yeah, you got to weigh with one. It's okay. You're allowed to get away with one. I think you're going to get away with another. In fact, I think you got a whole country rooting against you when you're playing Oklahoma coming up on Saturday. This was at all time. Because they want justice. America wants justice because America was watching America saw the clock. But America said that saw that it was zero. And then America heard two hours afterwards. This attempted transparency. And now all of a sudden, we have new clocking mechanisms. But only for that game because the NCAA has already come in and said they'll never allow that to happen again. But yet they can't reverse the outcome of the game. One of the members of the dream team went to Michigan law school. So I know he's telling me to shut up or he ain't going to do my work
