3:09I watched him and the get off look pretty quick and then he said he wasn't a hundred percent Hey, he's already talking about injuries and you know he barely he barely practiced The last month listen, it's it's and I said as is no warranty Well, they said come back to my service station, you know when Aaron Donald didn't make the trip we talked about this yesterday I'm like I'm kind of surprised miles is playing in this game But but you know, he's miles as a competitor like I've never accused him of not being a competitor and then yesterday he's a lot of people have that sure I think that's just not not our show But I think that's just Browns fans who were just mad when we lost a bunch and was at him the bull In a Browns fan bull was calling him not competitive years ago But you know miles obviously was the best thing we had for a long time and I think that was just frustration right like oh Where was miles today like there were games where you'd have there were these random games yeah

4:11And then last show he sets a sack record on a terrible team on a losing team and it's like I thought he'd set you more you thought he'd have even more because like you're gonna be playing with leads But he wasn't playing with a lead in no no they got the basket. Yeah, they did I mean that that Champions pose on there was no reason to watch the second half of that game so Champions pose for those who leave early, but we'll talk about that coming up a little bit at 644 maybe a little bit I Found a lot of people excited when I woke up this morning. I found a lot of people excited when I woke up in the middle of the night That he did he had no impact They got hammered and they had no impact and I you know I always you'll want to take the high road, but you don't always have to take the high road And it's like okay, he's not like You're free to root against him It's it's not a seer like I don't think it's obviously not a serious injury like a you're like rooting for serious injury boy We've been down that road too many times recently

5:12Like you're not rooting for a serious injury here, but it's like all right. Yeah You don't want him to do well You don't because if he does well that means they're gonna be probably be doing well It's one game they got 16 to go which is something that you know miles has actually iterated before as a member of the Cleveland Browns um It's sound it the post game was weird the whole thing was weird It was surreal at first to see him in a in a Rams jersey But I saw so many people who are excited and I go yeah You be excited be a Browns fan you're allowed to be excited about this I don't know how many victories you're gonna get and so I think you can't be a little less than I was a victory. I think to some people kind of did I think to some people kind of did like because I do think there's been some people You know what even myself you know I certainly got him at this A lot of us have done because he's not the typical type of Like Jared verse he's fishing a barrel okay, can we call it what it is like as of right now

6:13We're still in a honeymoon phase with Jared verse But like I I listen to his five minutes of media availability yesterday There were people sending tweets about like what a leader this guy like he is The fish and a barrel barrel stereo typical defense dog leader Those things you want miles is a dog miles is a tremendous player Miles ain't any of them other things There's just heard verse brings yeah, he's the best browns player. He's just the best probably ever seen my life Probably the best browns player you ever see But he doesn't contribute all those other things and I think it's bothered people because most like the guys we talked to Most guys we talked to on an everyday basis stop playing football in high school Well high school all it is all about team team team Emotions buy in hold the rope the whole thing take your end of the bargain hold up your end like it's all about that And so when they see that it's hard to rationalize it

7:14But he's so good and he plays for our team and he's special So we we do mental gymnastics myself included absolutely and then when he's gone All the things that you've thought of in the back of your head All the things that people have argued with you in the back you that you remember in the back your head They come out because he's on another team And your team has been the butt of the jokes over the last how many years and yet there will probably be plenty of jokes this year That have nothing to do with miles gear But your team's been the butt of the jokes you've had this guy And now you don't have many more and it's like okay now I can finally be critical Like there was a I think there was a criticism that that people wanted to hold back from He's still a marvelous player. It is still only one game But you are on you're in a International game. It's the only thing going. It's this weird setting where I think some people I dig it a lot of people going Kenny I tune in just to kind of see Australia didn't help that you know Darrym Mensa was playing against Florida and M and Did he did he play even the second quarter I tuned out I think it was 21 nothing at the end of the first half first quarter

8:16And he was 14 to 15 for the game for three touchdowns Means 49 nothing at the end of the first half so some people they might have been watching a little bit of Miami Then they tuned in like there was a curiosity there and he's they won 77 to seven Yes, he is the biggest part of that curiosity miles not the Miami Miles biggest part of that curiosity there. He didn't do anything last night No, and I think there was a lot of fans who Yeah, yeah, you're a lot to be kind of happy. I think you're a lot of you that way of course you can Okay, you have their draft pick I'm just making sure we don't have to sit here and act like we need to take the high road on everything like we are allowed to Root against people in in professional sports I don't need to sit there and talk down to everybody who you spend nine years of his life. No, we don't need to do that Well, we were monitoring you know, we get a draft pickaxe of the situation all last year And that didn't go our way right so Nobody's really expecting the Rams to to fall flat on their face, but that was a that was a great start for us in that draft pick certainly and hopefully this draft pick will help us

9:19This draft pick will help us get On track. No, I don't I can't say back on track. I mean a little bit, but Hopefully this will get us righted and so I have to root against him for the greater good of the football team I got none personal against them. We got none personal against them at all But I got a root against them because I don't want them to have a high pick. I want everything I can possibly get Yeah, for this year if we can get ourselves So here's the hard part was was Miles and Obviously it was symbolic of you know that that effort all together from that team. Yes, was that because of the travel Or was it because I was gonna bring them a later, but Maz will bring them now. Yeah, like how can you I saw everybody making these grandiose statements about the travel and I laughed because I told you on the way in we have a super secret phone call And I laughed I said the peach shrager Peter shrager had the whole thing about all the rams sent 14 staffers

10:21To take this very trip and then they had one that was gonna come back immediately and then the others were gonna be there for two weeks Like there was a whole scouting session on the travel portion of this and I'm like That seems like a total lie that seems like a total lie not not saying Peter shrager made it up. No I'm like it seems like the rams would tell Peter shrager they did this just to have fun with them But in the end they they were Basically punning on this game to begin with Well, that's that's that's that's my theory. There's no way you could convince me that they took this game that seriously And I said that yesterday. This wasn't just a oh, I saw the outcome of the game and now I'm changing my mind Like no, I think we all had this big debate about The science of sleep when in the end weren't the rams just kind of messing with everybody. Yeah, but like didn't take this week seriously They showed up as late as you could possibly show up for this game and the whole goal was hey, let's not get any injuries

11:23That's a hell of a theory and I don't think it's wrong I found it The part about the rams lost though. I found immensely satisfying if I can say it's it's twofold One, I do think that there is a brand of holier than now Blogger that blogs about football that really doesn't spend time with people and it's you know It's always bothered me because it is the ultimate team game. It is about relationships. It is about people and I don't think they have any like real Relationships and it's everything that is outside the box is the new way to do things And there's an arrogance there to it and I think Sean McVay is their Messiah of arrogance and starting to sound like somebody else. I don't like sounding like that But I think he's there like thing of arrogance that they just love now I don't hate Sean McVay even though it sounds like I do I just think that Sean McVay has so many wild outside the box ideas with his football team

12:23And the reason I'm satisfied and happy that they lost and lost so badly was that It dissuades teams from doing stupid things that they can get away with that the Rams can get away with Like Sean McVay does things and other teams try it and it gets other guys fired for trying to do Sean McVay things Same thing with less need other teams try to do less need type of things and it gets guys fired or keeps you in Keeps you in a job for seven years like we've seen um Like that's what I don't like The other thing is that it happening against the 49ers who are famous for what when it comes to travel They spend a week in youngstown, Ohio when they play on the east eastern time when they're three hours away They spend a week in youngstown when they have back-to-back they'll spend two weeks like we've seen in youngstown Well though if they play in New York they'll fly to New York or they'll fly to youngstown Spend the week fly to New York Come back and then go to Pittsburgh after something like that if they got two weeks on the east coast like they've done that before

13:24And so it didn't just happen against that team against a team and happening against the team that's famous for We prepare for the time that we have because of all this stuff that's around us You get what I'm saying. I do yeah, I probably lost no I get it, but what I'm saying is I don't I secretly wonder if the Rams oh they put out all this stuff about all the studies they did on Travel and this and in the back of their minds are like Had well if we get the win grade, but we're not really that focused on this win And so you're like oh did they did this poke a hole in all the Rams thoughts and I'm like no no no no Maybe this is exactly what the Rams know it's not the possibly happy that's where I know I lost you because I didn't say any of that Part at all about poking the hole in the Rams I said what it does is it stops other teams from doing stupid things because when the Rams do it It's ended up proving out it's smart there a different organization. Yeah On stage was it stupid? That's what I'm saying the Rams whole thought could have been no that they're gonna come home

14:27And they are not gonna like to remember that the thought was well the 49ers have gotten so acclimated to being in Australia Maybe the Rams like we don't want that to happen So if we lose the game we lose the game, but we're gonna come back and be a normal football I'm like six are you gonna see a difference in right how this game affected each team? This is what I'm pointing out That's why I don't think he's crazy Everybody's trying to win the game. You're not saying they didn't try to win the game I just don't think they cared if they lost. Yeah, that's what yeah, that's what you're pointing out I agree with you, but Kyle Shanahan's never not gonna care about a game Yeah, he's gonna treat it like the Super Bowl. Yeah, he's gonna try to win But if they didn't win, I don't think they're acting like this is the end of the earth think McVeigh is like, yeah It's it's one of 17. Yes. I do think that because I think that we could be sitting there in the NFC championship game and Aaron Andrews Is telling a story about how They basically used it as an experiment and lineman's of being right and does champions pose over everybody The thing that I don't like is that other teams try to do that and then they end up being foolish about it Case in point

15:28What was 2019 when we went out to San Francisco for Monday night football and we went out less than 24 hours beforehand And we were getting reports like I was falling asleep on the bus Now and it'd be kind of a disinterested Bad football team, but it didn't help that you went out Like the like the night before the game you flew in You know three-hour time difference Like that was ridiculous and that was a John Dorsey thing as much as we like John Dorsey That was a that was a huge mistake by him huge mistake And it cost us dearly they played like garbage They looked like garbage the whole thing was garbage and they made fun of you the whole time during that game Like the browns try things like that or other teams try things like the Rams do they get made fun of The Rams have built up enough currency where they can do that and they're fine with it Yeah, you can't kill him for it. Yeah, you can't kill him for it Because then it'll turn out like they'll still be good and they'll use that as an anecdote later on and a big football

16:28Super Bowl. We're gonna laugh at the over coverage of what happened in Australia exactly exactly That's we are on the same page. It took a minute to get there But we are still on this we're we're on different paragraphs, but we're on the same page there But I think that yeah anybody can be you wouldn't be thrilled about it you wouldn't be happy. I mean when I was out there I was a little bit more focused on Know myself and trying to stay healthy than know what they were doing in that show I wasn't I wasn't who I needed to be know for my team every year I'm trying to focus on well. How can I be a pro bowl? How can I be an all pro? How can I you know get this at the third? Faces just focusing on what getting this one enough getting this face win going out there winning

17:32It's even that game during games. I'll be focused on how can we win this game and say just focus on this one All right, you guys can do this, but that's where I'm gonna leave it now That's where I'm gonna leave it That's where I'm leaving it because I'm telling you right now if they go out there and they get smashed on Sunday It's gonna turn it well least we got a raw-row speeches didn't we can? 18:34One guy's talking about making the team better the other guy talked about making himself better But if I go any further on a team that I picked to win five games this year It's gonna turn into a well least we got a raw-row speeches Kenny and I I'm playing the long game on that one, but don't think we didn't notice well done by Owen well done by everybody Hi, how are you you doing good? It was crazy If this is guys, this is maybe the one time I can pick the bronze this year The one game I can baby pick the bronze There is healthiest are gonna be so you know what I'm gonna pick them Because you can't say I've been picking about the brown pick it against the bronze all year Which is not a reason to pick the bronze, but I'm gonna pick the bronze because of it and Yes, my history is blamed right on me, but I'm going I'm looking at some of the replies on the video yesterday that Keith put out I'm going Well, why didn't necessarily call my shot, but I picked the bronze to win fine because you got to make a choice Don't you but the second thing of it is is that go you know They're both professional football teams that the Jacksonville Jaguars could come out flat It tends to be a sloppy game Hopefully we're not a sloppy if we're not a sloppy We can run the ball with any decency which means that to Sean Watson's gonna have to be way better than what he was

20:37And against the third team of the Buffalo bills my god is gonna end up making me look real bad. I don't care. I don't care um If we can do any of those things then we can we can win the game And it'd be nice. There's been plenty of bad teams like the lost Vegas Raiders last year who started out one and oh I guess they team that played in the Super Bowl So I I understand we have it one and open with a new head coach since Bud Carson I got it. Well, I want to highlight today yesterday those Well, I could you not I mean it was the great day. It was such a throwback. It was Chris Burman and Tom Jackson And I don't even know if it was called NFL prime time, but it was like some some earlier version of that and it was awesome But I need to know if anybody else is is picking because this is as This is as negative as I've seen bronze fans to start a season and 15 years on the fan I mean that well what percentage of the fan base thinks are starting the worst quarterback. Oh well

21:39It's not that they so how many teams how many teams do that? It's not that there's a way We've been on the air when we felt that they they've started a worse quarterback It's that they openly dislike that quarterback that they're starting that's true Yeah, both both they think he's worse and they don't like him and they root against and I and they want him to be out of a browns And that's where I start to think I go are there people They consider themselves browns fans and it's not like we've been talking like don't say tank don't say tank don't say tank I don't think it's even about tanking They don't like this guy They think he's a waste of time. He has been a waste of time by the way They don't like this guy. He's been a waste of time and the sooner his time with this team comes to an end the better And I do believe there are die in the wool browns fans who will go to games in 2026 and 27 and 28 and so on and so forth And they love this football team and they have brown stuff all over their house and they have brown stuff in their cars And they're hoping this guy goes out there and he fails because they want to be done with it

22:43and if they feel that way Because it's going to end this this charade sooner I really can't say anything to defend the guy other than well you're a bet are they a bad fan because they've been through a lot of crap For how many years so I can't necessarily call them a bad fan They still consider themselves browns fans not you called me at times. I've called you a bad fan when I've rooted for the browns to lose The end of the season yes to get rid of a coach that was at times a bouncing organization and I structure But well, I still can't bring myself to do those things But this is this is different man like I just think in past I think they go we need to be better We don't they didn't like how things were going with kevans to fanski at the end or how things were going with with huge acts of the They openly dislike this man There is such a difference before there was I don't think this guy does a good job We got to get rid of them now. It's not they just don't think he doesn't do a good job. They don't like him

23:46And they want him gone and so if I pick them to win See that's one more game that he gets And cuz he would definitely start the next week they want it over especially if he looks good see This will be an interesting predicament for browns fans and I know the way he's talked about in this town People have eliminated the possibility that he's good or could be good or could even have a good game Malice in the afternoon show and they they make it sound like he couldn't even walk out there from the sideline to the huddle Call the play get the playoff and complete a pass Like he can't be that bad like he wouldn't be starting if he was that bad right find out he may very well be that well They would just start the other guy if he was that bad right right I would tend to agree with you But you keep asking me right like you want me to affirm you because you have questions yourself I do have major questions you like to play you like to play therapist with me Let me give you some therapy over here. You seem to be asking me a lot of things to try to affirm you Cuz I think you feel the same way that a lot of fans do you ain't gonna pick the browns on Sunday yard No, why aren't you gonna pick the browns? I mean a big part of it is the quarterback exactly

24:49So a lot of people think I'm lying to myself when I picked the browns or I'm just going back on a year's of being a homer Yeah, I know what I am. I'm not gonna sit there and deny what I am I'm not denying that I'm not all of a sudden mr. Hardass down the line radio guy I'm not doing that at all. Yes, I want the teams here to win and I I think you do too But this is the one game. I know I can pick with some Confidence that they can win. Well, I'm gonna pick well the other side of it that I keep coming back to is if they looked good If they look like this well-oiled machine in a way that the Rams didn't certainly in the way that the Seahawks and the Patriots did not look Three out of the four teams in the opener already if they look good Think about all the conversations. Yeah, we are gonna be having on Monday About the receivers the offensive line the defense Jared verse the new defensive coordinator Like we are gonna be feeling really good about a lot of things and yeah You might have to swallow it when it comes to oh boy. Are we gonna be in for more games with Deshan Watson

25:54But it also comes With all the other stuff that you're gonna be feeling good about and I think for a week browns fans should be okay with There's there are several flaws that people find in my logic They just think the team's bad. Okay. All right The biggest flaw that I can find in my logic is that I I don't think he's a very good quarterback And I do think a lot of people think he has to play very well for them to win games And I think in week two he'll have to play well I think in week one and I think it's a wild card game. I think it's a crap shoot. Well can time-moking I really can time-moking that's his job That's his job is to mitigate that mitigate that yeah, can he take the onus off of The Shaw Watson and not put the entire game and the fortunes of the team honest that you'll have to and that's why not turning the ball over Is so definitely important for this team like you watched Jacksonville two years ago Mitigated is unmitigated disaster. I know we're saying that word all the time Turnovers like crazy last year they eliminated a lot of the turnovers like Trevor Lawrence had 4,000 yards and 29 touchdowns and 12 picks

26:59It's it's a good it's a really good year don't give you wrong But it's not I'm a Holmes really good year. It's not an Allen really good year It was a really good year part of the reason that helped them to get the 13 and 4 is that they eliminated turnovers If we could just protect the F and football and not turn the ball over and give ourselves a chance to keep our defense off the field And not give them a short field by doing stupid things then we're going to have ourselves a chance to win At least week one yes Anthony when you ask can Todd mitigate that or eliminate that or you talking about Todd the offensive play color or Todd the head coach because I don't know if those are two different things right now. We're the same we have explain. I remember the the initial moment but everything else just goes together Oh, and obviously was in the air force in his life I was in charge of the 90th fighter squadron for about 14 minutes his life changed forever In 14 minutes until the next time a second guy came in and then he was in charge And as many as as many times as as we bust balls and glare at each other From this room to that room Owen is a Owen is a patriot to find man and a fine friend and we are lucky to know him Because the things changed for him dramatically that day as well as for a lot of people So we will have our moment of reflection coming up at nine o'clock across our family of stations And then at 905 Nathan's gonna join us and we'll get set for uh we'll get set for week one Oh, and you had I thought you this is what I think Monkins biggest challenges. 1:27:32It's Todd Munkins directoral debut as the head coach of the Cleveland Browns And you know on brought up something Darrell that I've talked about with other coaches I talked about with Kevin like six years ago and I just haven't brought it up with Todd at all Like what Todd is going to be really put to the test as a game manager and a offensive coordinator here because so many guys I think when they go from offense to being a head coach They kind of go with what they're comfortable with and they stop managing the football game and they cost their team games Well, I'm going to be interested to see um how conservative Todd is or does he just let it fly Um on Sunday um, I asked him about that earlier this week because you know he he has openly talked about how He's not really worried about the next job He is waited a long time to get this opportunity. He's doing things his way And so I'm going to be very curious to see if um He takes what many head coaches do a conservative approach

1:28:35Uh To not just the game plan, but how they operate within the game, you know, does he go for it on uh fourth and short Like Kevin Stofansky did uh does he take the points um like Kevin Stofansky would not do um You know does he turn Dishon Watson loose and just let him Chuck the ball down the field and see if they can get vertical with the passing game and generate those explosive plays early To kind of maybe get a little something going or do they go conservative and they do the dink and dunk and the screen game To get into a rhythm. So I'm real curious how this thing is going to go on Sunday and how Todd muck and not only manages the game But how he calls it because it's easy to sit here and and and talk about hey, you know wait a long time get this job and doing it my way We're just gonna you know go for it and leave it all out there, but also at the same time um You know whether or not you keep that job uh long term is determined upon how many games you win and in typically uh, you know

1:29:44In an effort to try and win those games Head coaches tend to be a little more conservative on game day uh Darrell If you were to listen to this station all week, which I know you do Darrell Uh, you have basically heard fans and hosts give Dishon Watson no chance to have a good quarterback game if we gotten a little too far Have we have we gotten a little over exaggerated about how bad of a quarterback to Sean Watson is like is he incapable of having good moments Um He's capable of having good moments, but no you've not gone overboard um he's he's not good Okay, the quarterback room is not good. Why are they starting him? Because he's the best of what they have Okay, and so That's not saying anything, but uh no he's not good uh he he misses basic throws Uh with no defense on the field he kills worms and then he'll throw a beautiful ball and you go oh, okay, he's back

1:30:45So um it's it's No, I don't think people have gone overboard. I have a zero expectation that this guy is gonna be able to do anything to help the Browns win With any semblance of regularity. Yes. He's gonna make a play here or there Okay, pretty much ball quarterbacks do that. They give you a play here and there But it for me it's about consistency and I don't have a lot of confidence that the Sean Watson has the consistency That's going to be required for him to have sustained success But he's the best of what they have in that room That's why they're going with him in week one and you you cross your fingers and and hope that the improved supporting cast With the rookie receivers a Denzel Boston Casey concepts young quinch on Judkins is healthy Dylan Samson is look good Raheem rocket Sanders has looked good Harold fan and juniors coming off a great rookie season you just hope that you've moved Jerry Judy out of the ex receiver position. You're gonna move him around now So you just hope that this supporting cast is gonna be good enough to elevate

1:31:49The quarterback position because there are going to be some plays where you're just gonna bury your face in your hands Are we gonna see Austin barber started right guard on Sunday? I think there's a pretty good chance seven Jenkins did not practice yesterday With a y'all back injury. Don't know if it's back spasms or or what but he left Practice early on Wednesday was limited and then did not practice yesterday And also to keep in mind. I mean these things They tend to work themselves out One way or another and and I you know the the coaching staff Todd Monkin Had said late in camp that you know Austin barber was coming along and You know they weren't ready to name tevin Jenkins the starting right guard We had just like all assumed that the starting off the line had had been you know set pretty much And so that was a little bit of a surprise when he said that Austin barber is gonna get a look at that starting right guard job before week one

1:32:50And now here we are You know on Friday will to at least see if tevin practices today and what his game status is But I think there's a better chance than not that you'll have two rookies on that starting offensive line In Austin barber and of course Spencer Finneau at left tackle You think that's part of the reason that your door is not playing on Sunday What what the rookies on the offensive line mean you get well, it's not just rookies on the offensive line I mean you got five new ones there. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, it's a whole new line. I let you know I think there's I really think that the decision to start to Sean Watson Doesn't come down to just one singular thing. I think that there are just a lot of factors from You know, he's a veteran got the experience to you know the all those the pre snap assignments and thing in processing and things like that DeShawn you know might be a little Further ahead than Shadour is there You want to give DeShawn one last shot here After everything he did to get himself healthy and get you know get back on the field

1:33:53Yes, he legitimately does give the Browns their best chance and Razov right now He really is the best quarterback that's in that room. Oh, look. We're gonna see should or Sanders at some point here Okay, I don't rebuild offensive lines to your point can so I there there's so many reasons. I think uh why DeShawn Watson is starting week one, but I think within a month a month and a half or so Shoulder or Sanders is going to be on the field is this starting quarterback I could argue that nobody suffered from last year's poor offensive line play more than quichon junkets We obviously didn't see him in the preseason much at all and training camp even what are you expecting Out of the running game because we know that's gonna be a huge formula for this team to actually look competent Yeah, I look he's healthy He looks like the player that they drafted in the second round Last year he looks like the guy we saw early in the season I would agree with you Anthony I think that he got worn down

1:34:55Because there was a point where he was leading the NFL in yards after contact um and then that started to to slide backwards his yards precarious started to slide backwards and then he got hurt You know suffering that dislocated ankle in the in the broken leg so um, he did a great job rehabbing and in getting himself healthy again And you wouldn't know that he suffered that injury just watching him in training camp So I know we didn't get to see a lot of them in the preseason that's by design you want to save him For the regular season. Okay um You know the quarterback situation doesn't look all that great uh, although I would take it over what the Browns have and I just I'm not sold that they're just this invincible monster Yes, I think they're gonna be a good team, but I don't think that they're gonna be uh I don't think they're gonna win the Super Bowl. I really don't I don't even think they're getting to the Super Bowl So um, but don't be good. They'll make the playoffs, but yeah No, I I don't think they're winning the Super Bowl or getting to the Super Bowl Darrell do you believe that they did the right thing by traveling to Australia

He was always gonna get traded to a team that's contender Oh, he had a no trade clause No team that is going to be bad was trading for the guy no team that was going to be probably in the bronze category was trading for the guy So you couldn't be an advocate for the trade and then turn right around go I can't believe we gave up a guy who get who got five sacks in the opener in australia or something like that So yeah, I don't think that he's gonna have a bad year I don't think that he's damaged goods or a lemon like we make jokes I made jokes right to start the show and chanted we won the trade I hope we do For this year. I don't mean no ill will towards him But I think for a bronze fan a lot of bronze fans don't think they're gonna do very well this year

I don't need to deal with that So yeah, you know what you don't always have to take the high road You can get in the gutter every now and then and if you were happy about last night's performance with the Rams Get in the gutter that's fine Because none of that and what they did made any sense and because they have such a history of with this group of winning What livin said says it's up being true. They threw a ton of screens Alshana to go in in the game that you really like for their screen game was that so the game was designed There were not a ton of deep dropback now there were some including On the one inch line where they did one and picked up 14 yards on the swing pass out the leak loop feral But for the most part that was kind of the game plan now Miles said afterwards obviously he was bothering him

I thought obviously you know He wanted to go out there in the first game with the Rams and make a big impact and and that did not happen quite frankly the 49ers Really put it on them and I'm sure there's gonna be somebody debates about travel now the next thing that goes That's really might go for two weeks who knows but they're certainly not gonna be going the night before like the Rams this You know what I actually think they might Nathan if they're the Rams I feel like this in the end I thought the leak story about the 15 staffers. I thought it was BS. I thought they were just having fun I think they treated that like a preseason game honestly. I'm surprised Miles made the trip given his injury situation Uh and and the fact Aaron Donald obviously didn't go. I know it just didn't seem to me like they were all in on that game to begin with Yes Well that's a pretty and that's a heck of a lot of beliefs in yourself That's a division game. That is the 49ers. That's not like they were going out there and playing you know the Saints not the Not a shot at the face just if that's not a division game person problem. That not only that That was technically a home game for the Rams so the Rams when they played the Niners again have to play them in San Francisco

1:54:54If that was their mentality that is air against the national football league on a level that is Would be starting to me. I think they believe that they were doing it the right way I do not think that they absolutely not that they took that as a preseason game That's the Niners that's a division game that has too much they think counts That's too much to just take off and it was a home game for them Technically, is this any sort of like if the season doesn't go well for one of these teams I'm assuming the Rams after things happen does the NFL rethink its strategy about the game so far away No, no It first of all it was awesome obviously I have good friends in Australia the great Ben Dobin the the foremost color of the gym Nance of rugby league over there He It was just beautiful to see Melbourne on display. They got a perfect day because remember They're really kind of just coming out of winter there and they got a perfect day. I thought it was beautiful I will say I felt that because it's you know Know the shape of the stadium that people in the front row of the 50 our line probably needed binoculars to see the game

I thought it was beautiful It was awesome over a hundred thousand people great spectacle It felt like you're watching something special to me You know it being nighttime here being daytime there It felt like almost you're watching the Olympics or something of that magnitude happening internationally So I thought it was very cool and no I do not think that they will rethink that at all Yeah, it seems that some people just decided to tune in just to make sure that they could see an NFL game and what it looked like in Australia Amazing that somebody would would think a way like that. We got to focus on them I have taken the Browns in this game I have picked football reasons not just trying to be a homer here I'm I'm getting smoked online man. I am getting smoked online and I'm not Mad at anybody, but I'm like guys for the love of God I'm not saying that they're gonna win the Super Bowl I'm saying that they can win week what that I'm picking them to win week one and I'm getting a lot of pushback on that

1:57:03Nathan it's your job to find ways to win. How do they win on Sunday? Yeah, I just think they can win this game. I mean the Jags are a very good football team They won 13 games a year ago. They won their last eight games Trevor Lawrence in that stretch That is stretching it really only two quarterbacks in NFL history have had and those would be Lamar Jackson and his MDP season His first MDP season and Cam Newton in his MDP season where the last games Trevor Lawrence threw for 19 touchdowns he ran for five. So he played very well. Look The Jags do not have an established ground game. They moved on from ETN They think it was Basel Tutton that they have an opportunity to get that going and then Chris Rodriguez who played for Liam Cohen at Kentucky They brought him in So they don't have a great ground game and when you can get to Trevor Lawrence Pressure certainly can burst his pipes now the Browns are two and oh all time against Trevor Lawrence He's throwing three picks in those two games the Browns fact him four times in each of those games Let's not forget no game that the Sean Blossom won as they started for the Cleveland Browns Was down in Jacksonville a seven oh seven oh and his career as a starter against the Jacksonville Jaguars

1:58:09I think that the path is two full number one on office limit the explosives and get after Trevor Lawrence Stop the run game make them one dimensional and go ahead and get after Trevor Lawrence and try to get him to make a couple of those Air throws they've got very good receivers I think a critical match up in this game for the Browns is going to be Parker Washington in the slot for Jacksonville Against Miles Harden in the slot for the Browns last year Parker Washington over the last three weeks had more receiving yards than anybody in the AFC at over 100 yards and three of the last four Including the playoffs. He's in the best player in their camp a lot of people think he is the go-to guy So that is going to be I think a critical match up and then when the Browns have the You know the Jads are a good run defense. They are not a great task defense. They're not a great third down defense But what they were last year is opportunistic they had 22 interception second most in the NFL 31 total takeaways They had a plus 13 differential there one of the best in the NFL The Browns have got to take care of the football that's obvious But beyond that the good news is those types of stats year over year tend to regress to the mean

1:59:10So if the Browns take care of it and Sean Watson's gonna have to be patient This is Anthony Caponelli the defense accordion there it comes from the big fan geoschool Using a lot of that cover six cover rate the mixed field coverage is by the way in which most of the interception so far this year It had been thrown on a cover six or a cover rate look but when they go too high The Browns have got with this new offensive line. They have got to be able to run them out as some of those too high looks That's when you can take the shots down the field that they're going to be too high the majority of the game They're going to play zone the majority of the game But if we can force them either Formatially or personal wise into some man looks in certain situations I think we really do have an advantage there are corners are not great man corners They're safety's really are not necessarily great safety But despite all those interceptions they didn't say anybody the probable on the back of their defense So I do think if the Browns can run them out of some of those shell looks or be patient and get good yack after short catches Against some of those shell looks. I think the concept of an opportunity really a captain is football team down the field And then it'll be coming up on the soundlofts and when these opportunities present themselves

2:00:12You just go ahead and rip it just go ahead of fun You know, I know that You'd rather have them throw for 300 with two picks than throw for 150 and not be able to score and not put point On the board. So that's gotta be as mindset if you don't that I really do think the Browns have an opportunity to win this game Uh, Nathan's a courage to join us for the Browns radio network. I know that the previous coaching uh administration they were not exactly thrilled to put to Sean Watson in RPO situations Kind of seem like they were protecting him Is that out the window now at this stage of his career in Todd Munkin? Are we going to see a lot of that as a natural weapon that defenses have to game plan against I don't know if you're seeing a lot of it. I mean he's not Lamar Jackson right But will that be a part of what we do on offense? Absolutely and yes if you can pick up You know seven yards eight yards pick up a first down here or there with it or pick up You know get yourself in a good second and short with that absolutely that will be a part of the game I think that you'll have situations where you'll have both Quince on Jenkins and Dylan Sanson out there and you'll have options

2:01:13So you know give off an inside hand outfield an option for him to keep it if the seat red sees part The other option to throw it out on the swing path. So yes, there will be RPO's in this game There will be RPO's for Dishonel Watson They will utilize his legs at times But I don't want people to think that this is going to be or just bring it over what we did with Lamar Jackson for Dishonel Watson because they're very different players Nathan Zaguro joining us here in the wise heart right we make a right call Kyle right hotline I am very nervous for my Grootenberg. I was going to bring this up in the next segment I'm just going to bring it up with you right now I Seen how he's spoken. I've seen his press conferences There's been a lot of skepticism You know a lot of people trusted Jim Schwartz before he's not here anymore Mike Grootenberg is here and there's been a lot of sysism a lot of skepticism How confident are you in this in this defense no miles Garrett but Jared verse but with a new defensive coordinator I'm very confident and until I am shown otherwise I will remain confident I think that we're still a very good defense to front the way the front seven plays is basically going to be the same in the way we play on the back and

2:02:20You know for the large part is going to be the same the biggest difference that Mike Grootenberg is going to bring from a scheme standpoint is Jim Schwartz was Hey, we're going to go single high like number one. You know it's coming. We know it's coming We're just so good at it doesn't matter Now there that is still true I think especially on the outside with Denzel Warden Tyson Campbell But what Mike Grootenberg is going to bring from being around Jeff all brick down in Atlanta last year And that was by the way a secondary that was right up there with the Jags in terms of interceptions One of the defense is against the past As we're going to see for the first time with the drones A lot more post-nap pre-post-nap disguise pre-post-nap rotation Things designed to make it quarterback hold the ball a beat longer with the days of the team coming into the browns and saying For example then coaching all right our game plan starts today with how do we not let miles? Garrett wreck this game those days are over but Jared versus there the browns feel like they have some good russures on the insurance believe columns that they think Mason Graham's gonna get the quarterback

2:03:20They like what Mike Hall is brusting to bring in Derek Barnett who said five sex the last two seasons So you're going to be a manufacturer. There's going to have to be some more pressures and it come along with just Russian four playing seven in coverage But they feel very confident and those Disguises the switches from two lines on the single I show in single high and then flip it Who's actually the robber who's the post safety those rotations that communication something they've worked very very hard on and And will be what's new but that lead to some We've been a season. I thought he was great now There is one there's one little caveat to this Is that several people seem to be annoyed with how he was saying Mel Burnt Mel borne Austin Mel Okay, so we have we have the pronunciation here.
