Jägermeister

Hello and welcome to this stupid history minute. I'm your host, Keb Pound. Today, we're

talking about Yeagermeister, yep, one-third of liquid cocaine for all you gin exers

out there. Yeagermeister was created in 1934 in Wolfenbüttel, Germany by Kurt Mast,

whose family ran a vinegar factory. Mast, who was an avid hunter, developed the herbal

liqueur using 56 herbs, roots, fruits, and spices. The name means master hunter in the

stag logo with the glowing cross references the legend of saint Hubertus, patron saint

of hunters, originally marketed as a digestive. Yeagermeister gained popularity decades later,

especially in the US during the 1980s party scene. Today, it remains one of the world's

best known herbal liqueurs, still produced in Germany, using masts closely guarded
